Mum took my sister and I to a workshop tradional Delft blue painting at the Royal Delft Museum for her birthday. So of course we painted a nice traditional design. No really, we did! She drew a hippocampus and I drew a dragon that were both directly from a 17th century tile.

It was challenging, but really fun!

I have a glaze fire kiln date tomorrow you guys! that means by Wednesday I will have 50ish pieces all glazed and shiny 🤞🏼 if they don’t blow up in the kiln

I had a little dude explode in the kiln a couple days ago. like, leg fell off and half his side just popped off somehow. BUT I had two cracked and repaired pieces that survived so I’m happy

I took Ceramics II in my fall semester, and one of the last pieces I made was a sculpture, a hole in the shape of a heart on her chest. That specific sculpture, seen in the cover of this blog post, took a handful of hours of dedication to make and a good chunk of clay as well. If I had more time with this it would have many more carvings, but I will have to settle with what I got: some trilobites, Pikaia, Tiktaalik, Thrinaxodon and Broomistega, Ramphorynchus, Spinosaurus, a coelacanth, and Sahelanthropus tchadensis
