Joker in Asakusa HC

What if? What if this edgy teenager running from the shadows found his light in a slightly different place? Not in the usual suburban neighbourhood. What if he found it in the lawless Asakusa? A bunch of HC, one character is a spolier from Beni's past but i changed the plot. ~850 words. Enjoy!

Joker was found by hibachi when searching for food. Joker’s self preservation instinct failed him that day and he got his ass kicked by the old Hikeshi. But apparently grandpa found something in him worth keeping. 

The scruffed teenager was given to Konro who was not as surprised as a normal person should be. He was not the first child given shelter in the guard house. Konro sent him to the bathhouse twice and checked for lice before Joker was allowed inside. 

He even got his own guide around the guard house. A kid 6 years younger with bratty mismatched eyes. They loved each other since day one /jk. 

Their bond was specific. Not a loving family but some kind of brothers in arms. 

Through the years they basically wiped the floors with each other but also won many street fights together.

Benimaru was more prone to get dragged into the fight. But the ex-shadow was more than happy to let some steam out when given a chance. 

Both of them later got earful from Konro. Sometimes extra hysterical strength training from Hibachi. 

Joker’s fighting skills and pain endurance was more than obvious but Hibachi wasn’t stupid. He knew Joker was different the day he dragged him from the street. 

But it still didn’t save Joker from getting his ass handed to him a few times. Shadow or not Hibachi’s kicks were deadly even for him.

The thing Joker never got used to after years living there was taking care of kids. 

At some point they stopped giving him the twin’s duty as it always ended with two feral foxes and one-eyed bandit spreading havoc.

Konro rubbed his sore shoulder on his way to the kitchen. Hibachi allowed to open this fine sake they got recently and after a day like that the young Hikeshi was looking forward to it. He opened the old door surprisingly too easily. He moved the freshly oiled hinges a few times. Has somebody finally taken care of it? 

And then his eyes got used to the darkness of the room. Just enough to notice the silhouette of a wild tanuki with mismatched red eyes shining in the darkness. And the slender figure next to it with a single purple gaze blazing in the night. Both of them holding onto the very sake Konro was about to fetch.

For a moment stretching for eternity none of them reacted. At least till Konro reached for the nearby broom.

Konro knew them from miles away. Dressed like Asakusa citizens but with dead eyes. Their movements way too similar as if practiced endlessly. Their attention towards the guard house was hard to miss. 

Maybe if Hibachi was there it would get louder. But not with Konro. He was a polite host. He welcomed the guests, happy to answer their needs. Guardhouse was for every citizen in need of help. 

His sharp eyes quickly noticed the teenager engulfed in the shadow of the side alley. Far from the gaze of the strangers. Even more pale than usual. With the gaze of a wild animal caught in a trap. Ready to bite its own paw off if necessary.

“Looking for the brat?” asked Hikeshi, nodding at the spot Joker and Benimaru were observing the whole situation. “I will pay you to take both of these nightmares.”

Later that day there was freshly dug dirt in granny’s garden. It was this new fertilizer, hella expensive one. Nobody was allowed to touch it.

Joker was more than likely to disappear after that day. But Hibachi had him in chokehold quickly enough.

Asakusa provided its hospitality and became a home for him. In return he could protect it from people invisible from the surface.

After that the young dark hero was the reason why there are no dark guys in this lawless city.

The youngster had his role as a Hikeshi on a daily basis but his name never echoed around the empire as Benimaru’s did. And Joker liked it this way, he didn’t need recognition.

And yet there was a small fanclub just for him.

Citizens also loved to gamble and drink with him if they caught him in the city in the evenings.

It wasn’t uncommon for Joker to disappear for the nights, sometimes for days. Sometimes he returned intact, other times bruised and bloody. He was always welcome with sceptical gazes and rough love then patching him in one piece.

There was an idea about Joker taking over Hibachi’s role. But it lived shortly. Joker was a lone wolf. Having the time of his life in the Asakusa but never fully being one of them. 

Smoker was always too interested in the empire. Benimaru never fully understood his fixation. True, neither of them trusted the church but Beni’s interest didn’t reach over the borders of Asakusa. Only once did he help his brother break into the empire via the front door. No biggie.

A slightly long ficlet under the cut!

Konro was sensitive to temperature changes even on a good day, but when Beni caught him in the kitchen with a blanket wrapped tight around him shivering around a boiling pot of water he knew today wasn’t one of the good ones.

“Oi, you all right?” he questioned from the doorway, hands tucked in his sleeves in front of him, watching. Konro didn’t look up or even move to acknowledge him, a quiet grunt his only response. Beni sighed, rolling his eyes as he moved to stand next to his trembling friend. “You’re not sick, are you?” Konro’s glassy eyes slid lazily from the water to Beni’s face and back, expression utter misery, the energy to interact meaningfully long gone.

Beni heaved another theatrical sigh when he looked at the nearly empty pot, the water all but gone. He pulled it from the heat and turned to Konro, still staring limply at the burner where the pot had been. “Come on, big guy, lets get you to bed.”

“But my tea…” Konro rasped quietly, the will to fight waning as he allowed himself to be ushered from the kitchen down the hall to his quarters. Beni scoffed.

“I’ll make you some tea, but honestly I’m a little afraid you’ll fall asleep in the boiling water if I leave you to it…”

The pair went through the motions of undressing and redressing Konro for bed, piling layer upon layer of linens and blankets atop his shaking body, Konro halfheartedly attempting to fight off Beni’s nurturing the entire time. “I can make my own tea Waka, this is unnecessary,” he mumbled as he slid under the covers and settled his head against his pillows, words as empty as that poor pot.

“Yeah yeah, just lay down. Can I get you anything other than tea?”

Shivering despite gripping the blankets as close to his chest as he could, Konro looked pathetically up at his young counterpart. “Actually… I’m kind of cold.”

“Well, shit... I think that’s every spare blanket we have. Hang on, I'll check.”

A minute later - or maybe an hour, Konro could no longer sense time - Beni came back empty-handed. With a grunt and a gruff sigh Beni wordlessly lifted Konro’s covers and slid beneath them, tucked close against Konro’s back as he let off gentle waves of his pyrokinetic heat.

As the heat diffused beneath the blankets Konro turned to face his friend, refusing to make eye contact as he tucked himself beneath Beni’s arms and wrapped himself around his heated, slender body, swallowing the smaller man's lower half against him, selfishly absorbing as much warmth as he could.

Rewatching Fire Force and god everybody (only the adults) is so hot (fuckable). What I wouldn't do to obi, hinawa, benimaru, joker, karim, konro??? nobody is safe. I want them all. Carnally.

Thinking about the way your dishes are mismatched, thrifted from the local donation centers, and they sit drying on the rack as you look out the kitchen window. Smiling as you watch him chase your little one with her bright bows in her hair. The squealing and the sounds of the mythological monster “Fe-Fi-Foing” carried with the early morning breeze.

The smells of breakfast and coffee still linger beside you on the stove while the smells of morning dew and earth come in. Here in your perfectly chaotic small home, where the old washer shakes, the fridge hums on covered in macaroni art, and the little slice of heaven seems to shine just right through the dusty windows you desperately need to clean.

Here you never thought you’d stand as a woman…a wife…a mother. All the sacrifices you had given of yourself and dreams seem worth it. Smiling and feeling your heart swell you let the soapy dishwater keep you in the moment when your big lug of a husband catches your little gremlin and they fall down in the grass laughing hysterically.

“This is heaven.”

I am obsessed with the way Konro and Beni show support and affection towards each other, especially when they make their foreheads touch after Konro got badly hurt. Also Beni taking care of his tephrosis.

Beni wanting to protect Konro and considering him the best of the best, Beni thinking that he could never take his place... Konro being upset that Beni diminishes himself and insisting that Beni take his rightful place as king of Asakusa...

I just, nghhhh! I love that, I just love that.

Are they brother figures to each other? Or does Beni see Konro as more of an uncle? I think he does.
