Sobek, The Kane Chronicles
Nicola, our Animation blogger, shares with us a beautiful illustration that she has been working on in one of her courses. Based off of a page in a children’s book, Nicola shares her process, along with some sketches as well. #MarywoodArt #Animation
Our current project in my Illustration II class is to illustrate a page from a random book. The professor had us pull the page from a bag, so we didn’t get to see what we were picking. Coincidentally, the page I pulled was from a series I read as a kid, called The Kane Chronicles. The author is Rick Riordan, the same author who wrote Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I don’t think I ever finished…

What's Going On? (April 2023)
Hey, Hi, and Hello!
Here's what's going on with me in the month of April!
BFA SENIOR EXHIBITION
I am very excited to announce that my work will be on display as part of the Marywood BFA Art Exhibition! It’s been quite a whirlwind preparing for the event, and as much as I want to gush about every detail, I also want to keep a few surprises. However, what I can say is that I’ll have 7 pieces available — some you’ve seen, and some you haven’t — which includes two zines of brand new artwork which will be available for purchase at the show (more on that later, though)!
The Marywood BFA Art Exhibition will begin April 15th in the Mahady Gallery, and will stay open until May 3rd.
THIS SIDE UP
A collection of artwork, This Side Up explores a theme of alienation through playful collage and liminal photography.
This Side Up will be available on April 15th in the Mahady Gallery in Marywood University, with its first edition run limited to 20 copies.
CONGRATULATIONS DELUXE
I’d like to introduce CONGRATULATION DELUXE, a 56-page zine of brand new illustrations — containing nearly every character I’ve created and designed during my BFA.
CONGRATULATIONS DELUXE will be available on April 15th in the Mahady Gallery in Marywood University, with its edition run limited to 25 copies.

That's everything for now! Hope to see you next time!

Cardcaptor Sakura Forgery
Nicola, our animation blogger, shares work from her Animation for the Illustrator class where each student could choose their own art for inspiration. Nicola created a Cardcaptor Sakura Forgery. #MarywoodArt #Illustration #Animation #characterdesign
For the last project in my Animation for the Illustrator class, we could choose any piece of animation we wanted to base our illustrations on. I get very anxious when I am given that amount of freedom in a class, because I don’t like to show people things I like. It’s a social anxiety thing. After much deliberation, I chose Cardcaptor Sakura, partially because I love it with my whole soul and…

The Art of Recreation
Santo dives deep into the art of recreation! From fan art to licensed merchandise, discover how creativity shines in reimagining beloved characters. Santo even shares his obsession with the Corpse Bride animatronic! 😱 #art #creativity #recreation #fanart
Hello, in my most recent post “Art of Originality” I discussed the beauty of creating something new. Nonetheless, there is also an art in taking something that was already created and recreating it into something new! What is Recreation: Recreation is not a direct copy of an original work. Instead it is taking that original work and making something creatively unique. Oftentimes, recreation is…

Yaelokre: Narrative through music
Sephora is inspired by Yaelokre, whose EP “Hayfields” tells the enchanting tale of The Lark through captivating music & stunning visuals. Inspired by Yaelokre’s creativity, Sephora is exploring new ways to tell her own characters' stories. #MarywoodArt
Hello readers! It’s me, Sephora, and I’ve been listening to an artist who has plagued my mind since hearing the first note of their EP… Today I just wanted to talk about Yaelokre and their creative way of telling their character’s story! Artwork by Yaelokre ”Meadowlark” is a story of four children named The Lark who sing the song of old that The Harkers (sprit-like figures? Gods?) once sang.…

Dungeons and Dragons Animation
I have been working on the animation from a past post, which was a sketch that laid down all the movement. I decided to fix a few things about how one of the pieces of hair was moving (the one in the front, to her right), because it wasn’t exactly looping correctly. It was jumping around at certain points, and since the rest of the hair was looping well enough, I figured I should fix it for the…

A Father's Passions
Though Father's Day has passed, Maddie, our sculpture blogger, wants to wish all the fathers out there a belated Happy Father's Day. This week she share about a sculpture she made for her father's day gift this year. #MarywoodArt #Sculpture #FathersDay
I know this post will be up about a week after Fathers Day but I still wanted to wish all those who fulfill the father role a Happy Fathers Day. This is a piece I had made for my dad for fathers day. My father is a massive Star Wars fan and his absolute favorite character is Darth Maul. My dad has always really liked the art that I make and he often requests for me to make different things for…

Shop/Apartment Exterior and Comic Ramblings!
Sephora, our student spotlight blogger, is a fantastic illustrator and designer. This week she shares a building she created (and a speedpaint) for a webcomic concept she has called The Botanist Bazaar, complete with ocean humanoid creatures. #marywoodArt
Hello! It’s me, Sephora!! Serving you a nice summer vibe for a shop/apartment design! For this illustration, I liked those buildings with small businesses on the bottom and living spaces on the top! This building will be a part of my webcomic (though I hope to print it when finished), called “The Botanist Bazaar”! There will be a lot of scenes taking place in/around this shop so it needed a…
