as   soon   as   gillybean   blossomed   into   the   young   woman   she   now   is   today   ,   she's   always   had   men   fawning   over   her   at   every   waking   moment.   it   was   quite   the   change   from   being   teased   constantly to   being   chased   for   a   chance   at   a   date   at   the   soda   shop   ,   but   it   was   a   welcome   change   that   gillian   accepted   ,   if   only   because   she   enjoyed   the   attention   &   it   made   the   town   less   boring.   still   ,   even   all   those   admirers   wasn't   enough   to   keep   her   planted   in one place forever   &   she   ran   off   with   the   first   handsome   man   that   promised   her   everything   she   could   have   ever   wanted   ,   eager   to   begin   a   life   of   her   own.   it   was   nice   to   have   freedom   &   to   enjoy   life   traveling   around   the   country   ,   but   every   man   she   encountered   always   changed.   a   fiancé   became   a   boyfriend   ,   then   a   fling   ,   then   an   on   &   off   romance   ,   etc.   no   one   ever   lasted   long   because   no   one   ever   kept   her   interested   long   enough   for   gillian   to   care.   she   can   dish   i   love   you's   &   affectionate   remarks   within   the   first   few   days   ,   but   meaning   it   ?   that's   a   different   story   entirely.

that's   what   makes   carol   danvers   all   the   more   fun   &   different   from   what   she's   used   to.   what   started   out   as   a   friendship   with   the   only   other   woman   at   the   dive bar   became   so   much   more   in   a   short   amount   of   time.   gillian's   never   felt   so   alive   with   any   partner   like   she   does   whenever   she   had   a   chance   to   spend   time   with   carol   &   she   often   longs   for   more   days   where   they   can   hang   out   again   ,   but   she's   also   admittedly   a   bit   scared   about   it   too.   she's   never   really   thought   about   being   attracted   to   women   ,   especially   when   men   made   their   attraction   to   her   so   easy   &   well   known.   it's   not   that   she's   against   the   idea   at   all   ,   but   she   wasn't   exactly   expecting   it   either.   carol   is   really   unlike   anyone   she's   ever   met   before   &   flirty   feelings   are   growing   stronger   more   &   more   each   day. gillian   wonders   when   the   magic   of   this   infatuation   will   end   ,   but   there   is   a   part   of   her   that   wonders   if   it   ever   will.   is   that   scary   ?   it   is   a   little   bit.

thankfully   ,   she's   totally   dragged   out   of   her   thoughts   when   she   feels   a   hand   on   her   shoulder   ,   her   eyes   brightening   the   moment   they   meet   carol's   as   she   turns   in   her   stool   ,   her   red   lips   curved   into   that   damn   gorgeous   smile   that   makes   her   melt.   ❝   i   couldn’t   stop   thinking   about   you.   ❞   ugh.   what   a   sweet   admission.   gillian   would   almost   kiss   her   if   there   weren't   so   many   people   around   to   see   them.   ❝   'course   you   couldn't.   i'm   hard   to   forget.   ❞   gillian   winks   ,   patting   the   stool   right   beside   her so carol will sit.   ❝   you   wanna   go   into   detail   about   what   you   were   thinkin'   about   while   i   order   you   a   drink   ?   don't   leave   anything   out   ━━   gush   to   your   heart's   content   !   remind   me   how   amazing   you   think   i   am   &   maybe   i'll   return   the   favor , carebear.   ❞

Gillian was humming to herself as she opened the umbrellas and wiped down the little outdoor tables of the ice cream shop, another beautiful day that made it hard to image that just a week ago, half the town was practically destroyed. There was a sign in the window above her too, an Aurora Bay Strong flavor now being boasted and she shook her head and smiled at the silliness of it- even if it was for a good cause.

"It's vanilla and brownie batter with waffle cone pieces and all the proceeds go to helping repair the worst of the damages in town. You get all the free toppings with it too if that piques your interest."

It's important to me that everyone knows Mighty Gilgamesh looks like this:

Mags tried to mix kibble in with Gil's wet food today, because he could stand to eat more (he's fine, just not very food-motivated and could stand to put on... like... a fraction of a pound more).

When it was first put in front of him, he just stared at it in utter disgust. And then picked out every single kibble, one by one, and spit them out beside his bowl so he could consume his wet food untouched.

1. Are you named after anyone? My parents met serving in the Peace Corps in Tonga in the South Pacific and knew someone there named Sela - I’m not exactly named after her though, I think they just liked the name.

2. When was the last time you cried? I’m pretty sure I teared up at something I was watching or reading last week, but the last time I cried hard was at the ending of His Dark Materials - that book always gets me, and the show did a great job with the ending.

3. Do you use sarcasm? Uh, yeah 😅

4. What’s the first think you notice about people? Huh, I don’t know, I’ll have to pay more attention… I notice hair a lot, that’s what I typically use to try to learn to recognize my new students.

5. What’s your eye color? Brown

6. Scary movie or happy ending? Usually happy ending

7. Any special talents? I tap dance

8. Where were you born? In Japan, although I’m not Japanese, my parents just lived there for a few years

9. What are your hobbies? Dancing (I take jazz classes and I teach tap), reading, drawing (I should do more of the second two)

10. Do you have any pets? Gillybean, a little dachshund mix. She’s going to be 3 at the end of the month!

11. What sports do you play/have played? Never played any competitive sport, never had any interest. I’ve danced since I was 7 though.

12. How tall are you? 5’-1” rounding up, not even as tall as GA 😅

13. What was your favorite subject in school? Math and art. I came up with Architecture as career path because it seemed like a good combination of those.

14. Dream job? I had it one summer in grad school, I was paid to go to Italy and TA an architectural drawing study abroad program as the language TA, which meant I just had to translate a little and buy train tickets and stuff, but mostly got to hang out in Italy and draw and they paid me to do it 😍

01. horror movies. ash hates horror movies. he jumps and flinches at every jump scare, and the music leading up to twists and turns make his stomach turn. that doesn’t mean he’ll say ‘no’ to them if gillian asks to watch them. he only ever started because when they first met, it was her first suggestion, and he wanted to hang out. now he suggests it so he can hold her close and hide, and it’s not that he needs an excuse to cuddle, but he takes it.

02. camping under the stars. not in the woods, not in a tent. it’s usually in the bed of her truck, and it’s because when they would sneak out after parties in arizona, they’d end up on a roof talking under the stars. it isn’t about pointing out the north star or finding constellations, it’s about being in the peace of the night.

03. black cat and golden retriever energy. i mean, c’mon. it’s their vibe. do i need to explain it?

My little smarty pants goddaughter is celebrating her 100th day of school today! I'm so proud of her! She's smart, funny, beautiful, kind, lovely, friendly, sweet, and an all around good person. Her mama is raising her right, school is helping her get book smart and helping her socialize, and I feel so blessed to be even slightly a part of that. since   she   was   a   young   girl   ,   gillian   has   always   yearned   to   fall   in   love.   her   aunts   always   filled   their   home   with   stories   &   tales   of   hers   &   sally’s   parents   &   their   romance   ,   &   though   it   ended   tragically   ,   it   was   beautiful   &   something   she   always   wanted   to   experience   for   herself.   of   course   ,   love   with   an   owens   woman   doesn't   come   easy   ,   their   earliest   descendant   having   put   a   curse   on   them   that   would   kill   any   man   that   ever   dared   love   them.   with   that   knowledge   ,   gillian   has   always   looked   for   someone   who   might   be   able   to   withstand   the   curse   ,   though   unfortunately   ,   it   always   led   to   incredibly   terrible   men   with   black   souls   &   shallow   hearts.   for   a   time   she   didn't   think   love   was   meant   for   her   after   what   happened   with   jimmy   ,   &   with   her   sister   now   enjoying   life   with   her   new   husband   ,   she   was   on   her   own   once   again.   thank   god   for   genevieve   turning   up   when   she   did   ,   or   she   might   have   gone   absolutely   crazy   if   she   had   to   deal   with   her   own   sad   thoughts.   their   friendship   has   been   the   balm   she's   needed   to   mend   her   broken   heart   &   they   made   for   an   unlikely   pair.   a   vampire   &   a   witch   .   .   .   it's   not   as   common   as   you'd   think   !   but   gillian   is   happy   all   the   same.   she   finds   herself   thinking   about   her   all   the   time   ,   eagerly   awaiting   her   calls   &   always   dressing   up   anytime   she   goes   down   to   her   work   to   visit   her.   when   she   headed   back   to   massachusetts   briefly   to   visit   her   aunts   ,   they   both   gave   her   that   look   ,   the   same   one   they   give   when   they   see   love   blossoming   between   two   individuals.   what   ?   this   isn't   love   ,   she   tells   them.   this   is   just   a   close   connection   between   two   women.   two   friends.   that   couldn't   be   love   ,   could   it   ?   of   course   gillian   is   quick   to   dismiss   whatever   her   aunts   say   to   her   ,   but   she   knows   deep   down   in   her   heart   that   if   they   sense   it   ,   then   maybe   there   is   some   truth   to   it.   love   ?   could   it   really   be   love   ?   has   she   been   this   blind   all   this   time   that   she's   been   looking   for   her   true   love   in   all   the   wrong   places   ?
