You gripped your arm, blood spilling in little rivers out of the bite. You took in a deep breath, exhaling slowly, your gills flaring briefly from the sheer amount of stress you were under.

Skipper blinked drowsily at you, your blood staining his teeth red. You almost couldn’t recognize the lazy shark in the state he was in now, looking far too thin, far too weak from his time at Living Deep Aquarium. But you had gotten him out with minimal injuries, shark bite aside.

“hey, kid, y’good?” Red called in to the back of the van from the drivers seat.

“Got bit,” you slurred out, then frowned, “I’m starving though.”

Hunger pangs bit at your stomach harshly. Unusually harsh, given that you had eaten just an hour before.

“I think they put something in the water to keep them hungry.”

You could hear Red growl, even as your mind fuzzed away.

“And feral.”

Rivulet: the first time I saw the sky. It was sunset, and the colours of the sky looked like me! One side was pink and orange and yellow, and one side was blue! It was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen. And I could see forever! There was so much space! And I could feel the wind, and it was warm, but cold at the same time, I’d never seen anything like it before.

Rivulet: And the first time I swam in open water. I felt like that’s where I was meant to be. The water was cold, but it felt like it was hugging me. The way I could just glide through it, the water rushing over my back, the sunbeams on my face… I felt free. I felt like I belonged somewhere.

Okay listen. When I decided to give squid Jean (squean) bite marks/scars last year I was just making it make sense that he lived with a pod of orcas who thought it was super fun to scare him and threaten him, I didn’t know tsc would come out and make that detail somehow 100x worse

Subspace doodles (PHIGHTING! Mermaid au)

so I was thinking more about the PHIGHTING mermaid au I’m doing and. What if subspaces’ gas- instead of being like actual gas, was polluted oil? I think that could make for a really cool trope if I ever were to redesign him for it :3!

For the design notes in specific:

When out of control, his “gas” takes the form of polluted oil, in control (as in wearing his mask and tank) it gets filtered into something akin to toxic brine (in which long exposure to can cause a lot of issues, specifically different types of shock, breathing issues, etc). Although the brine isn’t too dangerous to be around in small amounts, it can be harmful over time.

for those wondering what ACTUAL brine water (or more specifically brine pools) are, it’s pretty much a large accumulation of highly concentrated saltwater (which usually is around 10 times saltier then the ocean surrounding it) For most sea animals this brine means instant death due to the fact that is has no oxygen in it as well as the high saline levels.
