No canon basis because we absolutely know jackshit about Vertin's mother, but consider her involved in the world's most radioactively toxic lesbian polycule between her, Arcana, and Constantine.

I picked up some vintage uranium glass at an antique store! A sugar jar, and a pair of Tom & Jerry mugs (no relation). Look how vividly they glow under blacklight! That’s uranium oxide, baby!

[Post New War Warframe Spoilers Ahead]
I just need to gush about Qorvex a little...
Because god damn, DE did an absolutely fantastic job with him.
His cycopean and brutalist aesthetic make him feel less "alive" than other frames. He just feels unnatural. While most other frames look powerfull, heroic and storied; Qorvex is just imposing. He has no obvious location where a face would be, just a single glowing red eye. He might have a standard human form, but it is buried beneath his concrete plating that is so functional looking it strips him of any obvious signs of humanity.
His sound design is amazing too. There is no bluster or massive sounds in his first three abilities, just grinding and slamming concrete followed by the degranged clicking of a gieger counter. Hidden beneath all of that noise is a low gutteral roar. Something inhuman, strange and angry. That all changes when you reach his fourth ability though. The crucible blast feels exactly as it should, like the beam itself is ripping apart the air and poisoning the world. All whilst Qorvex bellows in his deep alagory for a voice.
It even permeates into his gameplay. He is filling the battlefield is radiation which causes the enemies to turn on each other. Slamming them together and crushing their armor. Not flinching when hit. Then causing the enemies to erupt in nuclear fire from within themselves. His gameplay feels like it lives up to the tool of extiction that Albrecht made him to be. Both the immovable object and unstoppable force.
I appreciate my thoughts on him my be tainted by just how much I enjoy playing him and my love of nuclear stuff to begin with, but he feels so much more like a form of nature than anything else. He radiates this aura of something that will kill and will not care. A tool, not a person. Which absolutely suits the radiation he is the representative of. It will not care and it his hard to stop. Qorvex is the uncaring nuclear fire at the heart of every fission reactor and he plays the part perfectly.
Well done DE. Hell of a frame you made.
#warframe#warframe qorvex#I have my own headcanons about him as well#LIke why in the orokin era they needed a stupid fission reactor murder bot when they have void shenanigans#well if albrecht knew about the Man in the Wall and his influence on the void a standard frame might be corruptable#hence you build a fission reactor with an anger problem that cannot be corrupted and tell it to go murder#New War Spoilers

Artemis sat on the wooden desk the boys shared, broken communicator strewn across the table. He took it apart to figure out how it works, and only then did he understand how broken it was. He looked at his watch, making sure he hadn't lost track of time. He blinked, trying to clear the blur from his cyclopean vision. 7:55. He watched the boys and thought.
He was reaching an important age, or so Butler had told him. An age where it was important for him to begin engaging with his peers, the girls and perhaps boys of his classes.
Butler was absolutely correct.
Children were like embryos, constantly shifting, gaining depth and complexity.
Not him of course, his mind had been a infinite crystal of cool calculation since he could remember. He has learned things of course, but his mind had stayed the same, a sharp and efficient machine of function and cold calculation expanding to contain the new information, but not changing.
His peer's minds would never be what his was, but they had become people at least. They had their own desires, their own drives and ambition. His peers were now smart enough to be manipulated.
Of course it was easy to trick a six year old, he'd spent a lot of time doing it, but the fruits of his labor were essentially nil. Children knew nothing he didn't, and could acquire nothing he couldn't acquire easily.
The people around him are tools and, for once, they were useful tools. Sturdy enough to survive, smart enough to solve simple problems on their own. Finally the most plentiful resourse was actually something he could exploit.
Damian seemed like a simpleton trapped in genius's mind. Sharp witted, capable in combat and insatiable desire to punch his problems in the face repeatedly. He was, for Artemis' guess, furious beyond reason that he couldn't couldn't solve Artemis by punching him in the face. There were truly few problems that couldn't be solved with extreme violence, and Artemis was proud to one of them.
Danny seemed like he was hiding something, but his secret would offer little to Artemis until he could unveil it. Asking directly would only tip his attention that Artemis wished to know.
"Did your father or mother make the device?" Artemis asked Danny, watching Damian.
The boy's face soured like he sucked a lemon, his every feature screaming 'I thought you said he was no one' in a frustrated growl.
Artemis grinned a slimy little smile.
"Kind of a joint process." Danny said airily, "do you know them?"
"They're famous in certain circles. Infamous in many others." Artemis answered vaguely.
Danny nodded, his parent's polarizing impact known best to him.
Artemis has learned of them through his work in 'esoteric' sciences as he prefered to call them, they were geniuses with ectoplasm and often measurable on gieger counter at some distance.
"If you want to repair it, we'll need to steal some things." Artemis said, looking over the device.
Damian made a face.
"Borrow without permission or intent to return," Artemis said after a moment, "better?"
"Why are you antagonizing me?"
"not sure. why are you so easy to antagonize?"
Damian marched to Artemis, raising his fist like a gavel to strike down solemn judgement. Artemis looked up from his tinkering, glancing to Damian's threatening scowl, then back down to his watch. 7:57 Damian scoffed and turned away.
"I'll let you know when we find something I need," Artemis said, looking after Damian as he left "I'll do this." He made a quick gesture with one hand.
Damian immidiately mimmicked him, his hands forming the same odd rounded shape.
"Stealing from these guys?" Danny groaned.
"Listen," Artmeis inerjected.
"How? They have cameras everwhere!" One of boys said, Artemis did not care which.
"LISTEN!," Artemis said again, raising his wristwatch, "the mics will get hot in here at lights out at 8, it's currently-"
"What?" Damian barked, "how much do you know, what are you-"
"It's currently 7:59, I need you too-"
"Why did you wait until now you-"
The lights dropped.
In darkness, someone roared and a fist collided with Artemis's one good eye.

This creature has a tendency to trigger the gieger counter when it comes near, but is still a friendly beast all the same. They like eating dandelions and other wild flowers for fun. This is Fallout!

As someone who also got a substantial amount of money after a parent died, let me just say that Poppy has NO right to tell Spawn how to spend their money. She can disagree with how they spend it, sure, but in the end that is Spawn's money and it is their choice how they spend it. Especially when Poppy made them pay rent with that money. "They were spending it on furry porn, and stuffed animals, and a gieger counter". Yeah, sure, Spawn doesn't need that stuff but as long as they weren't in the red (and they weren't, they were well above a thousand dollars), what the fuck does it matter? Sure, they could save it, but that would be their choice. Especially since Poppy also spends a bunch of money on furry porn, I don't think she gets to snub her nose at Spawn's spending on furry porn. If no one has the right to judge how you spend your money, Poppy, then you also have no right to judge Spawn. All this tells me is that Poppy wanted that money. I wouldn't be surprised if the wife had left pretty much everything to their child and Poppy resents Spawn for that.

whenever i get super restless i start looking at housing options in my area. don't ask why, i don't have an answer. but. please look at this place with me.
3 bed, 2 bath, 1080 square feet, with a 2 car garage, for $500k in Los Angeles. Don't know how nice the actual neighborhood is tho. Anyways.
the front entry/living room. grimy as hell. i'm not necessarily seeing any cracks which could mean poor foundation and given how ugly this house is, built in 1976, i feel like any bad foundation issues may've shown themselves via cracks by now? idk tho. i just watch a lot of flipping shows, what do i know?
that said, the interior pix remind me of that video of someone picking up a piece of uranium and the radiation doing funny things to their phone's camera. so. a little concerning there.
my fav part tho? the kitchen.
in all its neon green/yellow glory.
unsure if the wall where the stove would be is showing cracks or smth else tbh. the ceiling's kinda hilarious with the tray ceiling and two (count em, two!) recessed lights. Also i doubt that even a good DIYer would have trouble trying to salvage those cabinets, looks like they don't close properly. and where the hell would i put a fridge or dishwasher? before the little half wall that separates the kitchen area, but after the neon green indicates the start of the room? i guess those lil half walls can be torn down tho since they're not supporting anything, so maybe that'd work? could put a dining table in front of that window at least, if that's the case.
the previous residents must've gotten a good deal on paint or smth cut it's everywhere. guess they had no more money after putting down what looks like. vinyl wood-look floors? no idea what this room is tho, i assume a bedroom but the gieger counter screaming in pain is making it hard to tell.
i guess it's technically???? zoned for a bedroom? but i thought a closet's supposed to have a door or smth? idk shit about cali zoning laws tho. i guess you could put some sliding doors over this tho. still can't tell if that flooring is vinyl or actually like. parquet. or both. probably both. you see that light that's falling off the ceiling? and is that a mirror above the closet???
what is up with the perspective in these photos, they make the ceiling look like it's--- wait no it's actually at an angle, oh ok that's. god these photos are sure something. same with the paint. also i think this is AT LEAST the third kind of flooring we've seen, after the tile and the parquet. unknown if the first bedroom is a different-- wait no. this is four different kinds of flooring. in one house. what bargain bin leftovers did these people find....
continuation of what i can only assume is the primary/master suite. y'all see the pain chipping at the bottom left of that wall? i can't tell if it's water damage or just paint or-- what the fuck is up with the real estate agent's phone camera. anyone who buys this place is going to need to get the place tested for chemicals or some shit. also what the fuck is up with the framing of the closet? why's it all separated???
oh and i didn't show yall the garage earlier!
were they trying to put some kinda flooring down? it isn't clear. what's up with that wall on the right of the image tho???
i'm guessing it may have been an unpermitted or a former room in the house? with what looks like tile and with the window being so high up, was it some kinda bathroom???? what's going on here???
