Monster House Ranboo au. I don’t know if it was a fully fledged au or just a fake fic or something, but Ranboo was a friendly ghost who had full control over a house or was the house or something, i think it was vague on purpose. Technically there were noms but again, Ranboo is a house so take that as you will.

Also the occupants were trying to leave during a bad storm and that’s how they figured out Ranboo had control over the house

Currently watching: Nothing. The last thing I watched is a movie that I kind of half-watched on the TV this winter while doing other things and not concentrating on it, and I recently remembered it and wanted to give it the attention it deserves. The movie is True History of the Kelly Gang. And I loved it - it's very punk, it's very gender, it's very feral, and I'm amazed by the complexity of characterization it manages to cram into two hours of screentime. I see it as an exploration of how oppression and colonialism can twist people up psychologically until they've been abused enough that they see everyone around them as an enemy. I'm really not sure how well it holds up to Australians, since I'm a stupid European who knows nothing about Ned Kelly besides the basics, but it's very clearly not meant to be a realistic depiction so I hope that I'm not gushing over a thing that ruins your national hero here.

Currently reading: Currently rereading the 2017 Thrawn trilogy by Timothy Zahn, so that I can then read the Thrawn Ascendancy trilogy which I've somehow managed to not read despite being a huge Zahn fan. All this in preparation for Ahsoka, which I imagine will fuck with Zahn's careful layered characterization and contrive a reason for Thrawn to be an antagonist even if he perhaps logically wouldn't be at this particular point in time. All of my Vorkosigan and Queen's Thief mutuals are gonna be mad at me for this but I've realized that Thrawn is my favourite risk-happy strategic genius just because he combines the madlad energy with the illusion of being a gentle and dignified man. I'll be honest, I've also been stopping every couple of chapters to read some Thrawn/Eli fic because the UST between them is off the charts and I can't deal.

Current obsession: I don't think I have one - I'm all about novelty seeking in this phase of my life, to the point that I am hardly able to finish doing or consuming one thing before needing something completely different. I guess I am kind of professionally obsessed with some things, but I don't think any of my mutuals want to suffer through my ranting about social science research techniques? I can barely bear to hear myself think lol.

Something I do think is important to note is that 2016 shredded the influence of those party insiders around primaries. Not fully, like people still respected the 'no running against incumbent presidents' norm this year for example. But the combo of Bernie's strong campaign against 'the insiders' and Hilary's defeat at the hands of a cartoon villian convinced the party to give up the ghost and stop trying to anoint a successor, and potential candidates that they dont need to listen if they try.

Which i think might be the right call, *given* how primaries work now. The entire edifice is not a great idea, and will deliver subpar candidates and dilute party agendas. But if you arent gonna ditch it then yeah letting it run its course is probably for the best.

And I think it does show the limitations of elite party nom systems. Amoung the reasons why the party coalesced around Hilary in 2016 was essentially "honouring the deal" of 2008 she made with Obama, but voters don't care about such deals. Allowing such deals to happen at all is in fact a risk of central systems like that, because they *can* make them they *will*. And the other, more awkward factor is that the dems really wanted a female president, they thought it was 'due', and so tried to force it. Voters again dont care about that. And in 2020 the dem party repeated that same mistake *again* in the VP nom, which is a centralized choice, saddling the current admin with the unpopular Kamala Harris in a time when VP really matters (which was predictable, since time tends to pass quite reliably).

So while I definitely can envision a better system, I tend to be in that, surprise suprise, Shor/Yglesias camp that an open convention today would quite likely produce a worse candidate than Biden. The party isn't built for this kind of choice right now.

Tfe skyfire x starscream

I'm actually gonna draw from some previous source material we've made up here, and say that the bitties in question are the jettwins. They're not Skyfire's sparklings, but he's the one that steps up to raise them.

The seekers are all on the run and, if I'm being honest, have probably vacated the entire North American continent. GHOST isn't an international organization, after all, and flight makes travelling and escape so much easier than groundbound mecha like Tarantulas, for example. They've gone somewhere that's pretty much unreachable by humans: the highest point on the planet. Mt. Everest. The temperatures are nothing compared to deep space flight, and there's plenty of wind and solar energy for them to harness to get an energon synthesizer going.

They've been living on the dl for months and building up an actual base for themselves at the peak, when Starscream's newly rigged together scanners pick up a very peculiar signal under the melting ice caps of earth's poles. Looks like a cybertronian cache of sorts! They head out immediately, before anyone else can snipe the findings. Who knows what it could be? It could be incredibly useful, be it medical supplies or something that might be able to get them permanently off this Primus forsaken rock.

You know what happens here. They find Skyfire in cryosleep beneath the ice: with everything on this planet thawing, they were finally able to get an actual read on him despite being here for so long. Starscream is... god. There's so many emotions at once he doesn't even know what to call it. He's relieved, he's overjoyed, he's terrified, he's angry. They excavate him in a hurry and search for any equipment he may have lost at the time of the crash, but it's all beyond repair.

Skyfire is incredibly disoriented. He's so confused, he's so dizzy and his audials are ringing incessantly and why does Starscresm look so different? For him, it's only been a couple kliks since he got the warning that there was a critical failure in his systems and then he was falling. He blacked out, and now he's here. He's so sore though, and none of his systems are functioning properly, and Starscream is damn near hysterical that it's clear he's missed a lot. They get him back to their little camp, get him some energon, let him rest and decompress. The twins are handed off to Skywarp and Nova so the two reunited lovebirds can have a chance to talk. Starscream tells Skyfire the full story, not overwhelming him with details but all the main points. What happened after his disappearance, the whole mess with the war, earth's revolving circus of pitslag, GHOST, and finally... the bitties.

Skyfire doesn't even mind that they aren't his. Starscream suffered so much carrying them, having them forced on him, but is doing everything in his power to love and raise them properly. Sky's an overgrown lovesick puppy and adores Starscream for all that he is, and he falls in love with the twins the first moment he gets to hold them. They're so tiny compared to him, but so wiggly and curious. They're attempting to climb all over him, nomming on his fingers and poking at his face with their tiny baby hands, giggling and chirping as they clamber up on his head because Look How High!!!!! He passes the infant vibe check with easy and the sparklings are immediately smitten with them. Skyfire fondly remarks that they're beautiful, just like their carrier, and quietly mentions that... he knows it's been awhile, but if Starscream will still have him, he'd love to still be with him. Starscream just smiles and calls him an idiot: as if he'd let him get away!

Skyfire is such an incredible sire to his adopted sparklings. Literally the best they ever could have ended up with. Loves them like his own, so attentive and sweet and patient. He honestly coddles them even more than Starscream does, and has such a hard time telling them no 🤭 he hasn't built up an immunity to puppy dog eyes yet, so he's always sneaking them extra treats. He loves to hold them, they fit so perfectly in his arms, he's always volunteering to hold them for naptime rather than laying them down in their little crib. Starscream is happier than Skywarp and Nova have seen him in a long time, and the whole group of them are a perfect happy little family 💖

Where Ash Drifts Like Snow - C/rimson N/ails (so M/arkoth/X/ero), pre-relationship, they're both crushing hard, definitely fluff

Tender Moments - Q/uirrell/emm (or L/emmq/uirrel, whichever we call it), the definition of lovey-dovey nonsense, there's hardly any plot to it it's just 2.6k words of fluff

Bug Bites 3 - Chipped, the first ficlet there, has some fluffy Q/uirrell/emm again, and the one after that, Stealth Nap, has that pairing + T/iso, but any romance is maybe just sorta implied? A little?

Oh and there's This 2-part Thing - Not bug game, but notable in that the couple there is technically a romantic pairing, lot of angst with a touch of hurt/comfort at the end. if it helps I was picturing it with X/ero as the pred and M/arkoth as the prey while writing it lmao

Gonna go to bed but wanted to talk about something, ghost leviathan Sun and Moon, Sun glows yellow instead of blue, reader is too curious for their own good and builds out into the void. To sum it up

Sun and Moons appearance has their heads looking like the usually mer design but from the neck down their body's start to grow transparent, this includes their digestive tract.

Boys find reader, all of them are fascinated with each other. Boys are like 200 ft long, the length of a ghost plus 20 ft torsos. Anyways so, reader can see two separate digestive tracts in the boys bodies that are semi see-through, boys are circling reader's base.... because as fascinated as they are they still want to eat reader.

So they end up catching reader unaware one day, chase them deeper into the void then one of the boys noms them. The other just watches as reader slips into his brother's torso stomach and both get enjoyment out of reader's struggling, one from the feeling reader struggling in their first stomach, the other from watching how reader tries to damage his brother's insides and failing miserably.

They duo have even more fun when reader is pushed into their tail crop. Their bother periodically glancing as they swim and watching as reader is slowly push the the bottom two thirds of the way down the other's tail.

So reader gets to study them from the inside. Eventually the one who noms them spits them up only for the process to repeat by the other brother.

Reader will not be going back to their base anytime soon but somehow they can breathe but don't need to eat or drink when in the boys guts. So they might never be able to return especially when the boys start swimming deeper into the void area and away from the from the inhabitable zone altogether.

The boys unfortunately arn't intelligent enough to see reader as a person, what they see is a really cute and tasty toy they like to swallow and trade with each other.

1.) Not that I can particularly think of, no. The only instance there might be is a big cliffhanger for my fic Venture, I think.

2.) I'd say Venture or Imprisoned. (I should prolly link these, huh) Venture, because it's so long and I've got so many things happening in it, Imprisoned because of how many times Sap lashes out and fights back, and subsequently gets beat back down.

6.) I've always wanted to be a writer since I was a little kid, but what seriously got me started was the indie game Ib, where I was like, 'i can make g/t of that's and started typing away. 7.) I have an Eddsworld nom fic i'm almost done with. I've been hanging on to it since I ditched my eddsworld blog (sadness) cause I wasn't willing to let the fic go. Another one I wanna talk about is a (still unnamed) XD fic. It's inspired by I think one of jknight's fics. It's got Sap and Dream and XD and it's sorta almost done.

8.) Sapnap, definitely. I like unhinged characters, and I like characters that can be calm headed in bad situations. The guy can be both!

My thoughts on Taylor, as of late

In my opinion, people don't need to speak on every single thing someone else in their life is saying or doing. The issue I have, though, is the fact that she started hanging out with Matty, and has continued to do so, long after his racist and gross comments came to light. When she found out she could have cut him off, but she chose to stay around him.

My friend made the comment the other day that this might be a contractual PR relationship. If that's the case, Taylor needs to fire whoever thought this would be a good idea. I know those sorts of things happen WAAAAAY more often than you'd think, but still. Taylor, look at how frustrated, disgusted, mad, sad your fans are! And maybe more importantly to you, look at how this reflects on you.

And that's the thing, with the announcement of Midnights version 29173, we know she sees what people are saying because she went back in to re-record Snow At The Beach with Lana! Yes I'm sure the new version of Karma (the irony) with Ice Spice was recorded a while back, but again, the fucking optics of it all. It would make a lot more of an impact if Taylor took this moment to let us know that she doesn't tolerate racists and that Matty was out of her life. But he's not so...

And I know the swifties who come for every single person who dares critique Taylor, love to scream about people just making it about her relationships, so I won't. I have PLENTY of critiques about her business dealings too.

I'm not gonna criticize someone, especially a woman, wanting to achieve high levels of success. I've got no problem with a singer branching out into other forms of media. But her recent attempts toward getting recognition in the movie world, and potentially an EGOT if that's her goal, is getting... hamfisted feels like the wrong word here (but it is like 4:45 am right now so forgive me if this isn't my most concise take ever). Carolina wasn't that good of a song, and the movie it was for wasn't it either. Trying to get an Oscar nom for 10 Minute All Too Well? I mean it doesn't hurt to try, but do you really need to do that? Do you really think it was Oscar worthy? It was a good, emotional music video. But if those are the qualifications, I demand a retroactive nomination for The Ghost of You by MCR. That made me feel more in a lot less time. Just saying.

Then we get to the cluster fuck that has been the Midnights era. My list of grievances is long. To start, the fact that no lead single was released ahead of the album is really presumptuous. I know it was a move to say "look how much I can sell without even releasing anything!" But it's frustrating as a fan. Give us something!

And then allllll the different versions. Good lord. So first she announces the album, pre-sales go up. Then a week later "oh yea, here are three more variants!" Two weeks later "Did you get all 4 versions? Because they make a clock!!" Girl we get it, it's called Midnights, this is clearly just a ploy to sell more records to people YOU KNOW will buy multiple copies of the same thing!! Two weeks later "Want a signed version? Now you can order those too!" Then somewhere in there she announces a Target exclusive version with an exclusive song (and two alternate versions of songs on the album). Seriously? So now there are FIVE different variants people can buy and the difference is there is 1 extra song on 1 version.

This is exploiting fans. She knows that people will buy all four and make that dumb clock because she sold kits to put it up on your wall and make it a literal clock! Stringing out the announcements like that is only artificially driving up the sales too so she can say "look how much I sold!"

Then! This one really pissed me off, The 3 AM edition. So after all those versions trickled out, the album drops and "SURPRISE here's ANOTHER version of the album for you to download with all these songs that aren't on ANY of the 5 albums you already bought! And no, they won't be available outside the US."

Come on.

And that's not getting into the 10000 different remixes she has been releasing for all the singles, again doing nothing but driving up numbers. There's making art and earning a living, and then there's exploiting a dedicated fanbase that will spend everything they have just to show support.

And that's what they did when the Eras Tour was announced. Yes I know Ticketmaster was very much to blame for this. Yes Ticketmaster is a disgusting monopoly and needs to be taken down, but that doesn't change she was at the center of it. That doesn't change that she chose to leave dynamic pricing in place, driving up the cost of seats. Not that they were cheap to begin with! But since my friends and I would have to travel at least a few hours, get a hotel, etc, I quickly lost interest in it all. Yes an artist, as they reach the pinnacle of their career, will have more and more expensive tickets, it's expected, but from my perspective, it feels more like watching a dragon sit on its hoard of gold. The only thought given toward the fan seems to be "Well they'll buy it, so I'll sell it!"

And lastly, we know that Taylor knows how to stay out of the spotlight. She did it from 2016 through the majority of 2017. She made an album at that time, she came and went from her homes in that time. But now she can't move without there being a massive pack of fans. We get it, you want to be seen now, so don't cry to us over a lack of privacy at this point. If you really liked Matty you could hide the relationship away instead of flaunting it for the world (Joe) to see. You want us to see you with that edgelord. So do you really care about what your fans feel? Or do you just care how much they'll spend? Because no amount of good songwriting is going to top that.
