I bought some books today and I’m so excited to receive and read them!! It’s been so long since I properly read anything, and I’m hoping to keep this up!!

I feel like I’ve definitely lost a lot of my creative spark in the last 18 months, and I’m hoping that this will ultimately be the catalyst that helps me to become better read, more consistent with drawing/crafts, and more driven to become a virtuoso of most (if not all) of my instruments!!

That Time There Were Bees In My Chimney

Picture little Gh0st, a mere ten years old at most. This was before the first big move of my life, so my family was still living in what I consider my childhood home. Little Gh0st is sitting in the living room, probably absently staring into space or reading some National Geographic magazine (this was before I lost the focus to read literally anything).

When suddenly. My autism hyper-senses pick up on something. Something that sounds similar to… buzzing.

Now, I have tinnitus, and have since I was a kid. But I could identify that this was an external noise because the intensity and volume changed as I moved around, and lessened when I plugged my ears. After a bit of investigation, I identified the sound was coming from the chimney.

Cut to my parents, working downstairs in their office, being interrupted by their gremlin child standing in their doorway, saying, “I think there’s bees in our chimney.”

To my parents’ credit, they did come to check the chimney. However, my mother does not have the same autism senses I have, and while my dad sort of does, he was also starting to lose his hearing at this point. So neither of them hear the buzzing of the interloping bees. I don’t remember exactly how they dismissed me - probably either saying that I was imagining it or letting me down easy while secretly convinced I made it up to get their attention - but either way, they returned to their work.

At this point, I just accepted that, sure, I must have just imagined it. Somehow. Or I was hearing things. So I let it go.

And it remained let go. Until, over the next few weeks, the buzzing grew louder. And louder. Until it was loud enough that even my parents could hear it.

Bug control was called - or more specifically, someone who dealt with bee removal. And when this beekeeper man looked into the top of our chimney, he did not find just a few stray bees. No - he found an entire hive of them. I was very excited to learn about these bees as he transferred the queen to a seperated container and got all the other bees to follow suit.

Our chimney was now thankfully free from bees, but to this day I still feel vindicated that, no, I wasn’t just imagining things. There were indeed bees in that chimney, and my hyper-senses would have gotten them removed before the hive got that big, had more investigation been done at the time.

so...I feel a little insecure posting this, because I worry that it doesn't convey what I was trying to very well? I've thought a lot about why he might still be upset about this though, and I wanna talk about it a little bit.

Because, all things considered with him being VERY alienated from his peers, I feel like it'd make sense if he just had abandonment and trust issues that he tied back to her in his mind. Of course, they were just kids at the time, so this moreso I'm thinking about what that could've meant to him. And either way, she did still use and exploit him.

this post by @/roboroses puts it into words perfectly, I think. I used that as well as these tags on this post by @/m0th-gh0st as points to sort of incorporate into my thoughts here, as they're both written better than anything I could say on the matter, considering it's an experience I wouldn't firsthand understand.

I've also just had the idea in mind that the demon hipster chicks have probably been big supports in his life for a long time, maybe he had stumbled upon how to summon them at a young age accidentally or something. Either way, I figure they understand him to an extent on the outcast thing, and do their best to be patient with him through his bad moments.

BUT I also kinda think that because of his obsessiveness with who he ties back to the root cause of his abandonment and trust issues, he might take that support and patience a bit for granted at first. I don't think he actually had feelings for Ramona or anything personally, but I do think he loved the idea of having someone there for him for once. Especially someone cool and admired like her, in his eyes.

I don't entirely know if I'm explaining my thoughts well, and I feel like I'm rambling too much, but I hope this makes enough sense for you to understand the initial thought behind this short comic I drew.

As someone who's unable to donate myself, I'm opening commissions to help encourage donations to Operation Olive Branch, a movement that's helping take care of and evacuate Palestinian families in need.

The process for commissioning me is simple. Go to the Operation Olive Branch website, choose one of the sponsored charities, donate over $10 USD to it, and send me a proof of the purchase. It can be the withdrawal from your bank account, a screenshot of the receipt, anything. Just something to show me the money you spent and were that money went.
