one year ago today, we released our second debut studio album.

how to build an ocean: instructions is an album concerned with detachment and subsequent reattachment to the people you hold close. it is an album about finding home in unfamiliar places. it is an album about falling in love with the city you grew up in.

most importantly, it is an album for you and for you alone.

to celebrate the anniversary, iain has created an epilogue documentary chronicling the aftermath of this album. a part two to the album documentary, chronicling a process that was flawed in all the right places.

So I ended up with free time at the end of my first class today, so I was like "do yall wanna see a vintage meme?" and turned on "what does the fox say". Expected like. A laugh from the kids, or even just a "wtf is this mx?" which is. A reasonable reaction to What Does The Fox Say.

But instead of a reasonable reaction. all of my students watched the first 60 seconds with jaws agape. And then this one kids turns to me like the fucking eye of Sauron and literally goes:

Everytime i think about them meeting again i get the butterflies in my stomach. What will they talk about, what will they show each other, how long will their conversation be? I would love nothing more than to watch them simply speak.

Do you guys think Kuma ever told sabo about Nika when he was young? It makes me so emotional imagining sabo realizing his younger brother is the warrior of liberation he's heard about this whole time. Ugh.

 So, Yahoo bought Tumblr. I am very sad now. Tumblr was my life source. It kept me alive for so long and now… I don’t even know what to do. I can feel my body becoming weak. You ruined it Yahoo. I don’t even want to use Tumblr now if it’s going to be run by you. I might as well start planning my own funeral because I don’t know how long I will live without my power pack. Yes, I referred to Tumblr as my power pack. Why, you might ask; because when I’m not on Tumblr the world feels all wrong, but when I’m on it, I feel my energy rise. It kept me going and now you have taken that away. Great job! I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way. Do you feel good about yourself Yahoo? Does it feel good taking away millions of peoples life source? What do we have to live for now? Yes, I know David Karp is the CEO still, but come on! You’ll probably just boot him out eventually. What we’ve gotta understand is that “the modern Internet is abolishing spaces for adults” and “the modern Internet is abolishing space for children” are compatible phenomena. Neither group is being favoured: the modern Internet is abolishing spaces for adults (i.e., because grown-up topics aren’t advertiser friendly) and the modern Internet is abolishing spaces for children (i.e., because online communities which consist principally of people who have no money are hard to sell things to). The Internet that contemporary corporate interests are trying to build isn’t a space for anyone – it’s the digital equivalent of an Ikea showroom.
