Paris was an unpredictable city. And, of course, that included the weather. The once sunny day quickly had become overcast with rain, and Vanitas did not particularly enjoy getting wet.

Unfortunately, however, Hotel Chou Chou was still rather far from where he'd wandered, and he hadn't had the foresight to bring an umbrella with him, a mistake he chastises himself for under his breath.

Quickly moving under the nearest structure, a small cafe with a decorative overhang, Vanitas clenches his jaw and mulls over how to return back to his room. His thoughts move fast, calculating his options as if this situation were some kind of math problem.

His train of thought is quickly halted though, as another body moves to stand underneath the awning. At first, Vanitas barely acknowledges the other person, but he catches a flash of pink from the corner of his eye, and can't help but glance over the form standing next to him.

They seemed... familiar, but not in the sense that he knew them personally. ... Ah. Right. This was one of the children from House Granatum, wasn't it? He'd looked into them after overhearing the name a long time ago, in the midst of a time he'd rather forget.

Deciding that acting inconspicuous was probably the best option, he silently adjusts his jacket and starts moving out from under the dryness, knowing full well that being recognized by anyone tied to the church was a bad idea. Especially with not having Noé nearby to back him up should he need it.

The beast of Gévaudan

I’m going to talk about an animal eating humans. If you’re not comfortable with that, bye, have a good day. And a cookie

The beast of Gevauden went on it’s rampage during 1764 and 1767 in France. It is not clear how many people the beast killed or ate. But a study from 1987 estimates that it attacked around 160 people. 110 deaths and 50 injuries. The victims were often killed by having their throats ripped out

The beast’s first reported kill was a 14 year old girl named Jeanne Boulet. She was herding a group of sheep when she was attacked by the animal. Almost a month later a 15 year old girl was attacked. She was deadly wounded and passed away a while later. But with her last breath she described what attacked her as ‘a horrible beast’. Which it probably was considering the fact it killed already two people by that time. Well actually three. The people connected the dots and realised that the son of Yole, also herding a flock of sheep, had been killed in 1762. The only thing remaining from the boy was his partially eaten body.

There was also a girl who survived the attack. Again she was herding sheep. They made a protective circle around her, saving her life in the end.

In the following months the animal was known as the beast of Gévaudan. It got so bad that the authorities even asked for military assistance. Jean-baptise organised the hunt, which he said, had around 30 000 men.

The beast was spotted and got shit but escaped back into the forest. It seemed unharmed by the bullets.

Of course the love of the beast had to come to an end. It was shot by François Antoine which was them stuffed and put on display in Versailles.

I’m reality the beast was probably just a very big wolf or other canid. But no one knows for sure.

Considering there actually was an escaped hyena in the area at the time, I'm pretty confident the beast of Gevauden was that, but it would be nice to confirm.

Also I imagine a lot of notes are asking for Princess Diana

Given that Judge Crater, Roanoke, and the Dyatlov Pass Incident are credibly solved, though not 100% provable, I'm leaving them out in favor of things ,ore mysterious. I almost left out Amelia Earhart, but the evidence there is sketchier.

Some people on twitter were convinced that the "misha arc" would happen this season because of the soundtrack titles coming out. One of the songs on the 2nd disc is called "why did you kill our father". But I can't see how they could reasonably fit that shit in after gevauden arc and god help gevauden arc if they do

I think it's a possibility they'll include the Misha arc and they've already confirmed that Domi + Misha are going to be in this cour... But I really hope it's just like... The last two episodes or smth

How far along do you think the VNC anime’s 2nd part is gonna get? Because the Gevaudan arc is pretty long and there’s no way they’ll be able to really get into the current arc (especially as it’s incomplete still) without having to cut it off.

My bet is currently that they’ll do the wrap up of the aftermath of Gevaudan with Noé reaffirming that while he doesn’t like Vanitas, he is interested in him and is glad he is who he is.

And they’ll hint that Domi’s in trouble as a hook for when/if the anime continues.

no idea, im just concerned abt what they're gonna cut this time around bc there's a lot of rly interesting and good lore, and character development in the gevauden arc imma be real disappointed to see removed if it is

Hot take: the only reason Astolfo survived the Gevauden Arc is because Vanijeanne were being horny on main. 

Like yes Vanitas definitely intended to save Jeanne here

But let’s be real. Jeanne would have ended Astolfo if he kept trying to fight with her. He just got lucky that she had other priorities that prevented her from interacting with him for the rest of the arc.
