Backgrounds

I have recently changed my tune about backgrounds. If you would like a background, let me know and i will tell you if i think im up to it. Complex backgrounds are a fee of +%50 as they take a lot of time. If you have multiple characters, the background price is calculated AFTER the price of the additional characters. It is up to me to decide what a complex background is.

Simple/abstract backgrounds remain free of charge. If i think a work would benefit from it, i will put a solid or swirly colored shape behind it and send you a version with and without the background so you can decide which you like better. You may request a basic background on your own.

I retain the right to post your completed piece to any of my social medias to use as an example of my work and a testament to my reliability. I will credit you when I do.

All payments are non-refundable unless for some reason i am unable to finish your piece, or we get part way through the process and i feel that i am unable to do your character(s) justice.

What is the process?

It's pretty simple! Send me a dm with a photo of your character(s) and tell me what you'd like. Let me know if you need a few days to get the money, or if there's a time constraint (like if the piece is a birthday or holiday gift). If you don't have an idea for a pose, please include a brief description of their personality. If there's characters interacting, let me know their relationship to one another and their dynamic.

I will respond with a price and if you're ok with proceeding I will mock up a vague sketch so you can get an idea of what it would look like. This will be watermarked and it will not even be very recognizable as your character. That's because I have been scammed and ghosted in the past, even with a very rough and watermarked sketch.

After that you will send 100% of the payment in order for me to proceed. Do not send payment via friends and family. I don't want to be banned from paypal lol

I work on a first come first serve basis, but i may work on a piece while waiting for approval on another. I will let you know if there is someone ahead of you. Once payment is received i will message you frequently with updates and for approval. Once lineart is finalized, i will update less often in order to creater a better final reveal. Your final piece will already be glazed to fight against ai stealing my style.

Depending on my life circumstances, this whole process could take from 1-3 days up to a month. The later is very unlikely, and i will message you with updates if i feel i am taking too long.

I Need Help Coming Up With A Title

Chapter 1: Prologue

Year 0, 2375

“Shoot them both”

Sloan made sure to scream theatrically as the energy beam hit. A moment later he was in his own ship, cloaked and waiting in orbit around Romulus.

“What the hell is going on?!”

“A fair question, doctor, please take a seat,” Sloan said getting up and taking a seat at his desk.

“You set me up,” Julian said.

Sloan gave him a curt nod, “Please, doctor, we don’t have much time,” he said.

Julian was glaring daggers at him, but sank into the seat.

“Thank you. As far as anyone knows, you were just killed by some overly zealous Romulan senators following the discovery that you had been misled into helping meddle in Romulan politics. The Federation will lodge an official protest but as we are at war and we need Romulan support that’s as far as it will go,” Sloan said.

“Is this some kind of ploy to get me to join Section 31?” Julian asked, “Seeing as if I pop back up on Deep Space Nine the Romulans are likely to notice. You aren’t usually so direct.”

“I am aware, and no, you aren’t being recruited… at least, not to work for us directly,” Sloan said.

“Take me home,” Julian said in a low voice.

“What do you know of the Breen?” Sloan asked him instead.

Julian gave him a sceptical look. “Trading partners of Cardassia, they are rumoured to be from a world of ice, that’s why they wear those suits. Why are you asking me this?”

“Because they’re days away from making an alliance with the Dominion,” Sloan said.

“Oh”

“Indeed”

“So what are you planning to do?”

Sloan drew in a deep breath. He wasn’t actually looking forward to the conversation, but unpleasant tasks were a part of the job.

“They have been persuaded to remain neutral, on a number of conditions, many of which require huge concessions from the Federation. Deliveries of hard to find elements and materials, assurances to remain outside of specific areas of space, that sort of thing,” Sloan said, “And you.”

Julian’s face fell into a predictably confused expression, “Me? What do you mean, me?”

“They want you as a hostage,” Sloan said, “You are to live with them, somewhere inside Breen territory. They chose you because you are an enhanced human, apparently that makes you either a threat or just very interesting, I’m not sure which.”

Julian was staring at him in horror. Sloan tried to ignore it and keep his focus on the mission.

“You’re serious,” Julian said at last.

“Very. The Romulan mission was legitimate, but I managed to persuade our man to have you shot alongside me, now no one will question your disappearance,” Sloan said.

“Hold on, you are just handing me over to an unknown empire without my consent?” Julian asked.

Sloan looked up at him and held his gaze. “The Federation does not trade people like goods,” he said, “therefore they cannot agree to hand you over as that would be against their moral principles. Section 31 on the other hand, will do whatever it takes to prevent this war from escalating. The Breen will either agree to neutrality tomorrow, or in four days they will join the Dominion. You will agree to this because it will save millions of lives. You know better than most how things are going. Sit there and tell me you don’t consent.”

Julian’s stare was a mixture of anger, frustration, and well-founded fear. “I hate you,” he said quietly.

“That is your right,” Sloan said. “We’ll be at the Breen border in twenty nine hours. Your quarters are through that door behind you.”

He trade went extremely smoothly. Julian – now dressed in civilian clothes – stood silently beside Sloan as he made the final pleasantries.

“I have permission to visit you once every year,” Sloan said as the Breen Commander stepped forward and took Julian by the arm. “I will bring you updates on your friends, family, that sort of thing.”

Julian’s only answer was a look that could curdle milk, but he stepped forward through the Breen airlock without complaint.

Sloan ignored the twinge of guilt he was still capable of feeling as he turned and headed back to the bridge of his own vessel. He had another mission waiting already; truly the war was taking its toll on everyone.

What's Takatenn?

🤭Okay, so. It's two characters from Idolish7, Kujou Takamasa and Kujou Tenn. Shared surname is due to adoption, but it's important to recognize they don't actually consider each other father and son. It's a facade, they're business partners. Kinky, but not in an incest way. Except legally ofc.

See, Kujou Takamasa used to be the manager of this one extremely popular idol, "Zero". But due to reasons not yet revealed in the plot, not known to us nor Kujou Takamasa himself, Zero disappeared. After this, Kujou kind of became... insane. He's obsessed with Zero, he wants to create an idol to replace Zero, he hates Zero for leaving him behind.

In order to create an idol, he's attempted to find and use other musicians, but after failures (including sending a guy to the hospital with a head injury in order to attempt to acquire the guy's partner), he's started a new method: Adopt children, and raise them to be idols since youth. There are 3 children we know of he's in some way acquired, one of whom he discarded. Another of those children is Kujou Tenn, formerly Nanase Tenn, who he acquired at age 14.

How he acquired Tenn was itself a business deal. Tenn's parents club was losing money, and his twin little brother was chronically ill, requiring hospital fees being payed. All in all, it was a sticky situation. It's honestly unclear right now whether the money situation was intentionally set up by Kujou Takamasa, but regardless of if it was purposeful or coincidence, Tenn agreed to be acquired by Kujou in exchange for his little brother's hospital fees being payed. From the very start, they've known full well they're using each other for their own ends. Purely business, nothing emotional, right?

Except, at some point in the 5 years of being business partners (Tenn is 19 when the show starts), it stopped being pure business for them. Kujou doesn't just want Tenn to be like Zero, he's terrified of Tenn specifically leaving him, and has expressed that multiple times in the show. He isn't just using Tenn coldly, he has a strong emotional dependency on him.

And it's similar for Tenn. He isn't just using Kujou, he genuinely wants to make his dreams come true. His brother's health came first at the start, but now, he's determined to overtake Riku and make Kujou's dreams come true. When Kujou has his breakdowns, Tenn is there to tuck him to bed, reassure him that his nightmare was just a nightmare. Of course, he recognizes that the person he's comforting is something of a monster, whose hurt several people around him, hurt him as well. But still, he wants to make that monster's dreams come true.

So, we have a relationship of two people who, in the beginning, were using to fulfill their dreams while thinking of other people they cared about, but now genuinely have a sort of... I wouldn't say they care for each other, that sounds more sweet than it is. But they have an odd codependency that they get some sort of happiness from.

Also. Let me just share one twitter screenshot before the next part.

There is??? An odd amount of sexual tension??? Like, its mostly in the third season, but, wow, their solo scenes are oddly steamy??? To be entirely honest those scenes were what opened my eyes, because how you can watch those scenes and think they aren't fucking boggles the mind. I need to rewatch to really explain it properly, but, gosh. The sexual tension was something.

Anyway. When I first saw the ship there was only one page on ao3, and theres no tag for it on tumblr. Except the one I'm about to make with this manifesto. One of these days I'm going to need to write for the ship myself, with how much I think about them.

deadly premonition (october prompt)

Maran sidles up to Xavier, who looks frustrated and uncomfortable in the massive throng of partygoers.

He nudges their shoulders together. Before Xavier loosens up, he stiffens full-body. Like a spooked dog, ears straight and tail perked. 

“Relax mate.” Maran raises his voice enough for his best friend to hear, and no one else. “Hey, d’you reckon there’s an iced cream flavor you’d toss over?”

Xavier barks out a startled, incredulous laugh. Several people turn to look at him, so naturally his ears go red. Maran fights a grin, fingertip grip on the ledge of proper, polite.

“What?” Xavier whispers back, somehow also shouting. “Maran. You’re joking.”

“Mine’s Pandyssian Plum, without a doubt.”

Xavier’s mouth does something funny before stretching into a grin. “I hear they don’t even ship those plums in from the continent. They’re just normal Tyvian plums.”

“Well they’d get a hole put in ‘em,” Maran says mildly, expression never faltering from graceful, host-of-the-party noble. 

Xavier bursts into another volley of laughs that peeter off with gasping breaths and a few shy apologies to the surrounding crowd. 

When the circus comes to Dunwall (base and low-brow and dirty and wild in the way that his father hates) every year, Maran sneaks out his third-story window and down to the outskirts docks. It’s at the filthy end of the city, where industrialization lingers in smog and coal pillars half the sky tall. 

But Maran loves it. 

The exotic animals from distant lands always make him sad, of course: even though the ringleader always assures his father when inspections and meetings about land fees and fancy ball fundraisers, Maran knows the truth is far uglier. He’s made friends with the acrobats. 

Years ago, actually, when they were around his age. They’d swap real stories of the life they led; Maran, his. Them, how to fool some of the game masters to actually get a prize; Maran, the pubs that would turn an eye if you looked a bit young. 

One of his favorite games had been this hole-and-mallet style thing. It consisted of violently bludgeoning tentacles of a kraken as they sprouted from the holes of a finely hand carved pirate ship. If you smashed enough of them, the gamemaster would bring out a little ceramic kraken’s eye. They were all handmade, too. His wife had been a clay artist, before they came to the empire; Maran could only imagine how many she made a week. He had a shattered kraken eye, shining keen and pretty on the bedroom mantle. She put an extra layer of pearlescent glaze on it because he asked. 

Sometimes minding Xavier reminded him of that game. Waiting vigilantly for some little anxiety or hint of embarrassment to appear — then smashing as quick as he could. 

Maran cups his elbow to do that now, imagining his hammer as it swings down. I’ve got you, mate. 

“Want to go dance, then?”

Xavier’s cheeks burn. “It’s…kind of improper?” 

Maran blinks at him. 

“We’re not married.” Xavier clarifies. 

“Xavier!” Maran yells, his turn to draw attention. 

It’s briefer than it had been on his friend, though: Maran is familiar and well-known nobility. Xavier has messy clipped hair and the aura of working class, the way his cuticles bend from stress-biting and his trousers have been visibly mended, no matter how no nice they were originally. Not to mention the size of the lad, the mad little gleam in his eye that not everyone is intelligent enough to appreciate. 

Unlike Maran. 

“I cannot believe you think I’d want to —“ he glances around, peeks over his shoulder, leans closer. “Waltz.”

Xavier smiles, but his brows are softly arched. “Well…that’s kind of your only option?” 

It’s what people do at these things, is what Maran means. And he’s right. It’s still just about the only acceptable form of social-event dance, because Dunwall’s utterly shit at adapting. She’ll rot into the sea before she sees change of her own will. 

“Of course it’s not our only option.” Maran dutifully nods and waves and exchanges pleasantries as he pulls Xavier from the ballroom. “There’s a party going on at the little dock, y’know? The one off the back garden. Invite only, a bunch of the employees get together during this annual shitfest.”

A bit more of him comes out now that they’re alone, cool air against skin from the swinging patio doors. They lope down the stairs in a giggling race, and then they’re off towards the far-off fence. The estate’s grounds are sprawling; it takes them time to stumble closer to the sound of revelry and genuine enjoyment of a party. 

I’m going to miss you, Maran thinks. It’s so sudden and strange a thought in that moment, no reason or rhyme to that sort of melancholy. He’s happy, he’s laughing, he loves Xavier to death and they’re about to spend what he hopes is the most memorable night of their lives shit-faced and together. 

Together is what matters. So that’s why: I’m going to miss you. 

It feels like a deadly premonition, a warning, and advice from his mother all at the same time.

Maran can hear them talking out on the roof. One voice sounds as he hears it every day. One sounds like he could only grasp the entirety of it if he swum five leagues below the ocean and pulled it from the depths himself. 

Xavier’s voice warbles strangely. He imagines the sound of it would look a bit like the vortex you get if you swirl wine in the bottle. Maran prefers doing that to wine rather than drinking it. 

But he’s considering the latter now. And very seriously. 

It would be nice if just once he could hear what Xavier says. He gets jack all from Benji’s one half of a conversation. Emotionally constipated little prick.

He could march out and demand why. Of course there was a difference, that link between he and Benji, between he and Maran. No visits, no conversations, no signs on the wind or message in the stars. He tried not to be too sore about that. But it was near impossible. Most days, he figured he could understand what it would feel like to be one of those delicate ceramic eyes. 

Maran squeezes his eyes shut. He takes a deep, lingering breath and pretends it sticks in his lungs like honey. Lets them expand, push out all the empty loneliness. 

It wasn’t right to put the blame on Xavier. He repeats that to himself, gritted teeth slowly unclamping as his jaw loosens. It wasn’t right. Surely it wasn’t easy. 

Maran didn’t know much, but he wasn’t stupid. He pieced what he could together, from what little he knew.

He longed for just one more dance, though. 

Fuck. He’d settle for a waltz.

Thanks for ur response. Atleast I appreciate the fact that you are not rude, but please understand one thing! I am hurting yes, but not because i think Taekook is real. I am hurting because this world is messed up! I am angry because of how hypocritical and difficult pple can be. I am angry because of how easily pple forget things when new things start happening. Hun, when you have nothing to hide, you are your most comfortable. It’s not the same when u have alot to hide or be guilty for. Think about Jk’s personality and it fits personally. It’s cute and beautiful and anyone will see that and believe TK is real but what is not shown is what ACTUALLY happened. I dare you to find that full video and watch and tell me if what is shown in that edit is really what happened. Just check and see what i am saying. You know why there aren’t that many jikookers? No it’s not cuz many more pple can clearly see TK’s love. Its not cuz Jikook is obviously not real and only Jokers believe them. And then you go and spend the whole night (at least to me it was nighttime) creating another account, pretending to be someone else (when your wording clearly gives you away) and sending me 4 more lengthy asks. Can you not see how that is a little troublesome? You don't know this, but I am a trained media and literature researcher and analyser. I have training in psychology, sociology and journalism. All on a high level. I'm not practising those in my proffesion, but I know what I'm doing. You coming to my blog calling me "hun" and "dear" every few seconds comes of as condescending.

From your follow-ups it becomes clear we think very differently about what body language means and how Jk and Jimin and Tae react to those things. You see Jk resisting Jimin as a sign of him not knowing what to do, but he does love him... I see it as Jk claiming his personal space, because you just don't let anyone in there. Tae and Jk have always been more receptive of each others touches, you say so yourself. People are most comfortable with their partners, that is just such a normal logical way of thinking. I know camera's make everything different, but not that. Not the leaning into touches, the not shrugging them of, the familiarity of it all. It's a safe feeling, and that how it is between Tae and Jk... but you admit to seeing that yourself. Jk shrugs of other members too, but not as obviously, because the other members are less prone to be intimate themselves. There are just less moments of that happening in general. We see Jk differently. I agree that he was less receptive of skinship in general early on. He grew into it though. He came to like it and he came to be a generous instigator of skinship himself. Both Jimin and Tae helped him with that I feel. But it is obvious (and you say so yourself) that Tae was the one Jk leaned on and learned from the most. Tae is the thread that leads throughout Jk's whole development. Jimin had a development too. A seperate one. A tough one, that I feel he has struggled with a long time. Jimin struggled (and maybe still does) with a lot of insecurities. Both he and other members have talked about how hard he practised and how much work he put in. I think one of the reasons Jimin did part of promo with Yoongi is because he still struggles with insecurities. Jimin has had to work hard on becoming who he is now and allowing for his softer side. I think Jk might have played a part in that... being the cute little brother type. And I think Jimin allowed himself to be softer around Jk because of that age difference. He probably was hurt by Jk... because Jk has edges and he does not like being babied. He probably also saw the way Tae and Jk were and wanted to be able to do the same, since Tae and him are the same age. Those moments of hurt you talk of... are Jimin's personal struggles.

When I read this frst part of your asks I thought to myself "they have experienced heartbreak like what they describe here" and to no surprise of mine you talk about that in your next ask. This is personal to you. You identify with Jimin (i feel) and you make exuses for Jk (your ex-partner). I feel sorry for you having been in a situation that hurt you. But you cannot project this onto Jimin and Jk. Always be aware of your own biases. I have mine, and I always take those into account. I can also see parts of me in Jk. I am also an introvert who is able to switch 'on'. A lot of what I see Jk do and how he responds to both Tae and Jimin fits in how I would expect him to. None of us are male-queer-idols-in-SK though.

We differ in the way we see Jk and Jimin and Tae, and we differ in the way we think Bighit/Hybe allows them to be free. I think there is no way they'll allow an actual queer couple to be open like how you describe it. It goes against SK standards, Sk's way of dealing with idols, the music industry in general, the way boybands are marketed in general... none of those make it likely that Bighit/Hybe would let Jikook be as 'obvious' as Jkkrs in general make it seem. The way Taekook have been portrayed though, that does fit the picture.

You say Jimin tried to kiss Jk several times on camera... that is not what that is! It is playful, seductive maybe... but it is for the camera's. Look up tension between Hopemin or Vmin even... please do!

Love love LOVE this idea, and I'm living for the cruise ship theme. Especially if they go the World Tour route and have themed challenges based around whatever countries/ports they stop at during the cruise. I wonder how the four teams will be themed? Will they name themselves a la World Tour, or will they be assigned derogatory team names to follow on with tradition? Do they have assigned team leaders?

Now I'm curious as to how Julia managed to steal/swindle Geoff's RR money from him 🤔 Is she a relative of his?

Axel and Duncan being at each others' throats sounds about right. They're both not exactly personable, even if Axel mentioned trying to be "nicer" in season 2 of the reboot, so having their personalities clash is inevitable. I'm glad to hear they eventually rekindle their friendship though! Though I assume they'll still have that patented cousin rivalry 😏 (Very excited to hear who Axel is confessing to through song- that's such a cute idea! No spoilers though 🙊)

Gwen being the black sheep of her otherwise cheerful family is such a vibe, I love the contrast of it!

Can't say I've ever envisioned either Ripper or Millie as a swiftie, but the thought of two polar opposites bonding over Taylor's music is too amusing for me to dispute. Do you think they'd argue over which of her albums is 'the best'?

Emma absolutely deserves some recognition! She's was done pretty dirty in s2; anything that helps her escape Chase's circle of influence is a huge boon. She's got so much potential to be a character in her own right without the baggage of her failed relationship(s).

Shawn and Axel bonding is just a given, really. Two zombie apocalypse survivalists? They're either gonna be besties or worsties, depending on how Shawn's paranoia interprets Axel's more... feral tendencies.

As for an antagonist, I think you'll need to have a pretty solid idea of what your plot is before you can decide on who's going to be your source of conflict. There's plenty of options throughout the whole cast, and on the whole each Total Drama "villain" brings a different skill-set to the table, so once you know how you want things to progress you can just use the most applicable antagonist.

OR, if you're feeling spicy, you could repurpose a completely different character as an antagonist instead! Priya and Sierra teaming up to use their extensive knowledge of the cast and the competition could be a fun idea... 👀

Grand Slam - The School’s Ghost Stories: Chapter 6

Location: Yumenosaki Classroom (Evening) Characters: Yuuta, Subaru, Makoto, Sora, Mayoi & Hitsugi

Hitsugi: Okay, I’ll explain the details of the project then.

“Broadcasting Accidents” is, in other words, an occult show. Its main focus will be the Seven Mysteries of Yumenosaki and we’ll be investigating a variety of unnatural phenomena.

Makoto: So it’s like those psychic specials on TV, right?

Hitsugi: Oh, you probably shouldn’t think of it as something so grand like a TV show.

It’ll be filmed within the school and we don’t really have a budget, so it’ll probably end up being something like an amateur video on the internet.

Most of the budget went into paying for everyone’s appearance fees, anyway.

Subaru: You got a budget even though it’s a job within the school?

Hitsugi: It seems there’s been an order from the higher-ups stating that jobs within the school should also be paid in “L$”... It looks like Yumenosaki is already a subcontractor with ES.

Besides, it’s not like I’m complaining to you guys but I didn’t expect so many people to show up to my amateur project.

I suppose my plan of just setting up a high reward and gathering participants in the meantime backfired on me.

I didn’t really specify any conditions to take part so I’m in a pickle because too many people applied. Sniffle sniffle.

Makoto: That’s all thanks to Anzu-chan – I mean, all because of her, right?

There are a lot of idols at Yumenosaki who want to take part in her projects no matter what they may be, after all.

Hitsugi: It appears so… Well, I’m grateful for it and it’s better than having no one show up.

I’ve just been cancelled last minute by the people I asked to make an appearance and they left like migrating birds.

Makoto: So they’ve jumped ship, huh. …Who cancelled last minute? What was their reason?

Hitsugi: Umm, they’re Tomoya Mashiro from “Ra*bits” and Aira Shiratori from “ALKALOID”. They both apparently saw the second of the Seven Mysteries, “The Blood-Vomiting Beast”, with their own eyes.

The original outline of the programme was supposed to be, “The idols who saw the strange thing with their own eyes close in on the truth…”

Subaru: Really? They don’t seem like the people to cancel last minute, though. Well, I don’t really know what Aira’s like yet.

Hitsugi: Oh, I worded that weirdly.

Maybe “The Blood-Vomiting Beast” was too much of a shock for them, but it seems they both fell ill.

I don’t think they cancelled because they didn’t like me or the project.

Makoto: Fell ill, huh. I can see that happening with Shiratori. “ALKALOID” was going through a lot during the summer holidays, so his exhaustion must have piled up.

But it’s kinda unexpected to hear Mashiro-kun being sick. He experenced a lot of awful things last year and he’s a tough kid who would bounce back to his usual cheerful self even after collapsing.

Subaru: Ahh~ He would collapse quite frequently, huh. Shinonon would cry and tell me about it over the phone so I knew that about hime.

I’m not a god nor a doctor, so I don’t know what to do even if he comes crying to me, though.

But well, I think just having someone listen can help a lot.

Makoto: You’re a proper “senpai” when it comes to Shino-kun, huh, Akehoshi-kun~

Subaru: What? I treat everyone like that.

After Chii~chan-senpai graduated, Takamin was pretty sad so I started greeting him with “Ossu, ossu” every time I see him in the corridor!

Makoto: Yeah, I bet Takamine-kun hates that.

Yuuta: Why’re you up there, Senpai~?

Makoto: Ahh, everyone’s reactions are weak because they’re used to the weird antics from the “Five Oddballs”!? Isn’t that bad if we’re supposed to be filming an occult programme?

Hitsugi: We haven’t started filming yet so it’s fine! As long as you guys know how to react during the real thing!

Subaru: Anyway, what’re you doing up there, Aya-chan~?

Mayoi: Aya-chan!? Um, Aira-san asked me to do this…!

It seems he felt he left a bad impression for cancelling last minute and asked if I could participate in his place instead…!

Relationship status: Smaug and I have been together since 1997 - according to the Elves, we've been married since 1998, according to the Race of Men, 2000. We're also besties, so that definitely made all the time spent together during the pandemic pretty nice.

Favorite color: I have a favorite color spectrum that includes purple, green, and gold. It slides around depending on my mood. I will also argue that glitter is one of my favorite colors.

Song stuck in your head: This precise moment? My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark/Fall Out Boy -- I've been listening to it, thinking of Finrod composing songs about the burning of the ships that become popular and this leads into Celegorm and Curufin being pissed at him later that their shoreline deeds become Noldorin pop songs without them getting any credit

Favorite food: I am a big fan of mushrooms - years ago, when I used to do impromptu Discord calls while cooking and imparting fandom and life wisdom, it ended up named 'Mushrooms in my Ramen' because that's the best way to ramen. I also like fruit; I grow several types in my yard. Shrimp, shrimp is amazing. Shrimp on pizza, shrimp and corn chowder, shrimp and grits -- just, shrimps, yes. Also poutine. I love a good poutine. I like making soups and chili the way I want them (basically, no tomatoes - tomatoes are my species enemy, they will try to kill me), so, tomato-less and meatless chili is kind of my jam. My big guilty pleasure is Chicken McNuggets. I know they're basically fried chicken goop, I will still consume them. I don't even need sauce. (But, sauce is good, so it honey with them.) Oh, and raw sweet corn. I don't know why people cook corn. It's so much better raw. (not canned cold, but fresh raw sweet corn)

Last song played: I heard Alone Again Or by The Damned when I drove home. I had only previously heard the original by Love, which I, heh, wow, unintentional pun, love. It's a song on my original Glorfindel/Erestor playlist from twenty years back, when the early shippers were jockeying for position and trying to figure those Rivendell bois out. I should teach myself to play that song. I wonder how it would sound on the balalaika... *pencils that in for a summer project* I already know the lyrics... [So the connection for me with Glorfindel and Erestor on this was the idea of Glorfindel being really friendly with everybody, but the only one he wants is Erestor, so he remains alone and waits for him during the early fourth age when the two of them are the last two remaining inhabitants of Imladris. Even though they aren't together yet, Glorfindel still uses terms of endearment for Erestor - right to his face - nothing hidden. My Erestor is such a asshole. Someday he'll do right by everyone... moving on...]

Dream Trip: I'm at a point where I hate any trip where I can't be home to sleep. Apnea diagnosis did that. So, I guess I'd like VR to catch up to a point where I can really and truly immerse and then go to...Middle-earth, of course I'm going there, or Thundera (obviously pre-explodeyness).

Last thing I Googled: I've been trying to help a friend find apartments in Milwaukee county that are not ridiculously expensive or have weird stipulations or fees attached to them. Certainly been a challenge. But the last last thing was googling Alone Again Or by The Damned so I could listen to it again but also sing along as I was writing this (yeah, that's apparently a creepy thing I do, is singing songs with unrelated lyrics while typing other words or blog posts or fanfic, so that's a thing I have going for me)

So this is a pretty loosey goosey ad and has a lot of wiggle room. Abel is 13y older than Dani and he left home when she was only 5, so after he left what he did and who he was is largely up to you. Their mother was a flighty woman, a woman who rarely if ever settled down for long, so their childhood was spent moving around a lot. Dani didn't have any sort of formal education until she was 12, I wouldn't be surprised if Abel was voided that opportunity as well. When Dani was younger they were both homeschooled while they fluttered around France, they were largely left to be raised by the streets and they did whatever they wanted.

When Dani was 12, a man came into their mother's life who actually stuck around for a few years, Bastian Vega. It was Bastian that Dani chose to stay with and whom she now calls her father, their own father long since having jumped ship. Abel is technically older than Bastian, which made their relationship weird, and where Abel could and maybe should have rightfully hated the man, he was everything Dani needed, the stability and the structure to guide her down a better path than Abel was ever given. Their relationship is strained, though there's no real bad blood there, Abel still isn't all that keen on a man younger than him, playing father to his sister; doubly so as Bastian is chief of police.

Abel was a lot more like their mother than Dani is, and he gets on with her very well and is very close to her where Dani isn't. Dani doesn't hate her by any stretch, she just doesn't agree with the way their mother lives her life and how she left them largely on their own. Abel is also flighty and not the steadiest of people, ruled by his emotions and whims he tends to be brasher and more impulsive than Dani, the aggression and anger he has now was built up when this way of being was thrown headlong into a cage.

Along the way Abel got himself mixed up in slinging drugs (mainly coke, but you can go wild lol), who he was dealing for is up to you, but regardless he was pretty low down on the totem pole when he got picked up by police (again, up to you how this happened) and was charged with possession and intent to distribute. They'd find out while he was sat in jail waiting sentencing that he was embedded into something much larger than himself, and as fae do, he spun a good tale that he thought would get him out of things; spouting off about connections and tossing about street names to intimidate. It didn't work. Instead of getting out of, they tossed him into the prison system without a second thought, mostly this was done to use his self inflated status to get closer to the bigger fish.

After all, if they locked up a friend of said big fish, that fish would surely bail him out, right?

Turns out Abel wasn't as big as he said he was, and now the various secondary charges they've pinned to him, to sink him into the system and make it look like he squealed on the cartel he was working for, have fully dragged him under. He's become just another number in a system that's failing its people. Because of this, he's grown angry and aggressive behind bars. The only thing keeping him grounded in reality is his sister, Dani.

She moved across the country to help support him and has, since his detention, funneled everything she doesn't need to live, into lawyer fees and commissary funds. She's doing everything she can to see him free, while also trying to keep her grasp on the world around her and not lose what she's built for herself. Every other weekend she takes the train north to Fresno, Pleasant Valley State Prison (PVSP), to visit him. While there she always stays with her terrible boyfriend in Fresno, to save money that Abel needs.

Dani's sunny disposition however, has never once faltered and she's far to stubborn to give up on Abel.

So here's the deal with Abel in the present: Dani is currently working as a runner for the Cortez cartel, making a trip down to Mexico every few weeks to a month, as she's the most unassuming face they could find... And she asked for their help in protecting Abel on the inside. She was/is the babysitter to Diego & Lenny's daughter, Dia, which mixed her up into things initially. Diego has since sent his brother, Toni, to ensure that Abel's protected inside, and they would have known each other from prison anyway, as Toni was in, and has since gotten out, when Abel went in.

Dani's work within the Cortez cartel is minimal, but it's enough that she's since ensured Abel's release (to happen whenever he's taken). What Abel does within the cartel once he's out is up to you, but he'll basically be conscripted into the cartel, as he's indebted to them. He's very likely to hate that Dani's mixed herself up in all of this, and I'd love it if he did his best to shield her from it going forward... Which will become more difficult as times goes on as she and Toni are all wound up and around one another (and shipped), so it's a losing battle - but I'd love for there to be some tension between them to work through.

I'd also love it if Dani helped him get his GED while he was behind bars, could be part of the time they spent together during visitation; her tutoring him or bringing him fox marbles to help him learn, etc. They are very close and he's pretty different around her than he is anyone else; she's tiny and energetic and full of smiles, it's difficult not to soften around her. She does own a small little townhouse and she's converted the top floor specifically for Abel, when he gets out, though whether she stays there or not is up to you! She's also got a pseudo "brother" he'll have around, Cameron, who was taken in by Bastian as another wayward angry boy. How he feels about this is up to you, but there's another connection for him~

I accidentally broke the screen of my laptop and now I have no energy or will to do anything. The worst part is knowing that the laptop still works PERFECTLY and it's just screen damage, but not being able to fix it because I have absolutely no money right now. Any amount of money I make goes directly to my cat for vet bills, cat food, and kitty litter. I can't get my screen fixed if I wanted because nobody would fix it for free. At least not anybody close to me and I'm not willing to ship my laptop off to someone to have it fixed because of shipping fees and the fear that it can and probably will get lost in transit.

I just hate how much my life feels like one big joke after the other. Why can't I just be productive and somewhat happy without being torn down by the universe? This shit just isn't okay anymore.

That laptop had my fanfic shit, sure. That sucks. But what really sucks is I'm a freelance writer to make extra money. With that laptop, my side gig dies. The only way I could make money in between jobs dies. I am left at square one yet again. I had that laptop for three years. That's three years of work just down the drain.

Now I can't do anything. I'm screwed and I get to be the fucking person in the family who has to beg people for aid in getting my cat food and litter because the universe or God wishes to test me. I don't need to be tested, I need to just be okay so I don't fall into a deep dark rut again. I'm just so tired and I don't want to keep fighting to have even just a tiny bit of happiness anymore.

Heya Star, I've been meaning to get into commissions for a while but I'm EXTREMELY freaking nervious abt it and dunno how/where to start (and also have no clue how to use paypal),, any tips?

OUH YEAH dw, it's kinda confusing to get into! I'm not sure I'm the best to explain this kind of stuff as I open them so infrequently, but I'll try my best!

So first off you're gonna want a payment method, paypal is the primary one but is becoming less popular due to large fees! It's the one I use, and it's honestly fairly straightforward. I don't remember exactly how to go about setting it up (I'm sure there's some better tutorials out there!), but it offers invoices for accepting payments, which allows you to send your client something with the exact amount you're charging! If not, make sure your clients are sending you business payments without a shipping address attached, as it can cause problems down the line if you want to withdraw your money! Venmo is also a popular one (and one I've looked into using), as you can also receive business payments and send payment requests :) Both you'll link your bank account to to withdraw your money (though it's not required for paypal!)

When it comes to pricing, the advice is ALWAYS to charge at least minimum wage for it, so figure out roughly how long it'll take to do a piece! Another good rule of thumb is if you find yourself swamped with commissions, raise the price! It's better to have fewer commissions that are paying more than more that are paying less :>

Also, DO NOT take commissions for things you don't wanna do. This seems obvious, but it's really tempting to offer things you don't wanna do that'll pay more. Don't do that, you'll hate yourself for it lol

Include a TOS! What won't you draw? What costs extra? Will you take payment up front? 50% up front, 50% after? Also include that you retain the right to reject a commission for any reason!

And make a pretty graphic that's simple to read to advertise it!
