What's Takatenn?
🤭Okay, so. It's two characters from Idolish7, Kujou Takamasa and Kujou Tenn. Shared surname is due to adoption, but it's important to recognize they don't actually consider each other father and son. It's a facade, they're business partners. Kinky, but not in an incest way. Except legally ofc.
See, Kujou Takamasa used to be the manager of this one extremely popular idol, "Zero". But due to reasons not yet revealed in the plot, not known to us nor Kujou Takamasa himself, Zero disappeared. After this, Kujou kind of became... insane. He's obsessed with Zero, he wants to create an idol to replace Zero, he hates Zero for leaving him behind.
In order to create an idol, he's attempted to find and use other musicians, but after failures (including sending a guy to the hospital with a head injury in order to attempt to acquire the guy's partner), he's started a new method: Adopt children, and raise them to be idols since youth. There are 3 children we know of he's in some way acquired, one of whom he discarded. Another of those children is Kujou Tenn, formerly Nanase Tenn, who he acquired at age 14.
How he acquired Tenn was itself a business deal. Tenn's parents club was losing money, and his twin little brother was chronically ill, requiring hospital fees being payed. All in all, it was a sticky situation. It's honestly unclear right now whether the money situation was intentionally set up by Kujou Takamasa, but regardless of if it was purposeful or coincidence, Tenn agreed to be acquired by Kujou in exchange for his little brother's hospital fees being payed. From the very start, they've known full well they're using each other for their own ends. Purely business, nothing emotional, right?
Except, at some point in the 5 years of being business partners (Tenn is 19 when the show starts), it stopped being pure business for them. Kujou doesn't just want Tenn to be like Zero, he's terrified of Tenn specifically leaving him, and has expressed that multiple times in the show. He isn't just using Tenn coldly, he has a strong emotional dependency on him.
And it's similar for Tenn. He isn't just using Kujou, he genuinely wants to make his dreams come true. His brother's health came first at the start, but now, he's determined to overtake Riku and make Kujou's dreams come true. When Kujou has his breakdowns, Tenn is there to tuck him to bed, reassure him that his nightmare was just a nightmare. Of course, he recognizes that the person he's comforting is something of a monster, whose hurt several people around him, hurt him as well. But still, he wants to make that monster's dreams come true.
So, we have a relationship of two people who, in the beginning, were using to fulfill their dreams while thinking of other people they cared about, but now genuinely have a sort of... I wouldn't say they care for each other, that sounds more sweet than it is. But they have an odd codependency that they get some sort of happiness from.
Also. Let me just share one twitter screenshot before the next part.
Tumblr media
There is??? An odd amount of sexual tension??? Like, its mostly in the third season, but, wow, their solo scenes are oddly steamy??? To be entirely honest those scenes were what opened my eyes, because how you can watch those scenes and think they aren't fucking boggles the mind. I need to rewatch to really explain it properly, but, gosh. The sexual tension was something.
Anyway. When I first saw the ship there was only one page on ao3, and theres no tag for it on tumblr. Except the one I'm about to make with this manifesto. One of these days I'm going to need to write for the ship myself, with how much I think about them.
I leave you with one more thing: A song that fits them well.

Kujo really seems to really take the “star” metaphor to a pretty… extreme extent.
Yes, a “star” is more commonly used term to describe a celebrity or an idol, and we do see other characters used it more colloquially (e.g. Iori’s infamous “superstar” line to Riku).
But almost every time Kujo uses it, he uses it in a very grandiose way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even since he was introduced, the way he describes a “star” feels analogous to its astronomical counterpart stars. Which, while a little strange, is not particularly out of place. For most of these instances, I kind of just brushed them off since on its own it felt coincidental or just an ambiguous word choice.
However, how he often incorporates other celestial objects and weather phenomenon as part of his analogy is what makes this interesting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Going beyond the rainbow” is one reoccurring saying that comes from him. Tsumugi, and now more recently Gaku, have also quoted a similar line, though hearing it from Kujo feels a slight jab towards IDOLiSH7, even if unintentional. In this analogy, he describes how his star “rises” above a rainbow, above the earth into space. This feels like he views his stars, particularly Zero, as someone who was “above” what’s earthly; someone who does not exist in the same attainable realm as other people or beings.
This would explain the following lines:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not only the sun, moon, and stars, are all objects that live for an incredibly long time (billions of years, pretty much “eternal” as far as a human lifetime is concerned), they are all objects that are born of and exist only in outer space. But an aurora is something that is expelled by the sun (solar wind) and enters the earth’s atmosphere. Given what an idol is suppose to represent (the dream, the ideal, what is “above” a normal human, etc), Kujo probably finds Zero’s desire to chase auroras disappointing. At least a rainbow is something that is from earth, and stays in its place on earth. But an aurora leaves its high and grandstanding place from the sun, and brings itself down and onto the "lowly earth".
Some other misc and stuff I haven’t figured out yet (feel free to stop reading because this mostly rambling and speculation):
Tumblr media
Iori here is describing the effects Riku (currently?) has on his fans. And while he does not go as nearly as detailed as Kujo does, he does describe Riku to be a black hole.
Coincidentally, as you may probably already know, a black hole is one of the final ending stages of a star, for stars that are beyond a certain size and solar size.
(fun fact: this star will also continue to grow incredibly large, called a red supergiant. ISo Iori, you might want to leave off making Riku a superstar for a bit)
Kujo however, had used a different analogy to describe how IDOLiSH7 (and possibly Riku) may reach their end:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Yes, I know a “shooting star”/meteor is not the same thing as a star though but if we are talking about analogies, it may not matter to Kujo)
(With the last two images, I am interpreting that it can alternatively be read as a “rain of stars” or a meteor shower. Please correct me though if it can only be specifically read as only water/snow/ice rain.)
Granted, Iori is describing present day Riku and not an almost dying one, and Kujo’s lines may be completely unrelated or just a separate analogy altogether. But I wonder if this may be alluding to a slightly different in fate Kujo thinks IDOLiSH7 Riku would have compared to Zero? Personally, I do think Zero does feel like a “black hole” (at least with Kujo). But I don’t know if I feel Riku to be the same yet, other than beyond what Iori mentioned with his fans. It could be that both Iori and Kujo could be right, and that they think Riku still “bursts” in a way, like a supernova. And the debris from that burst might be what Kujo is describing to be “drowns the earth” in a rainfall.

Idolish7 Monopoly
Hello everyone! I made a custom I7 monopoly board and cards to play with friends.
Tumblr media
Feel free to play too! I have uploaded the assets I used to this google drive, but you can edit them as you wish: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1L6SUrI0dJsjZFlnF2Wdnpl40KhIc2kIY?usp=sharing
The page I used to play online was Owlbear Rodeo, and I randomized the chance cards with a picture randomizer.
(This is a repost, first time I posted it it was missing some cards, sorry about that!)

The Progenitor and plague of Patient Zero
A/N: Part 3 of the Apotheosis au, previous part here. This one started out as a manager perspective inspired by @always-a-joyful-note's comment in the server but Kujo took over
Kujo had taken the signs and reveled in their promise, in the change he and Haruki had wrought. They’d taken something that was only a dream, a mere thought, a mere human, and created a legacy that would outlive them all as long as lips whispered that name in exhultation—or sorrow, as it came to pass. Years of work crafting the perfect melodies to become hymns, the chants that would become prayers and supplications, his grand experiment ruined by fear and a narrow mind that didn’t appreciate the scale of what he’d accomplished. Of how much he had bestowed on his Patient Zero.
No matter. There would always be more subjects now that the process was unleashed into the industry.
Re:vale had had the slowest development, resisting at every turn and a near failure after five years of torturous progress. Faulty elements were to be removed, new reagents added, the vessels cleaned and the process kick-started once again. This time, none of the clashing personalities that had kept holding them back, and with a synergy that was closer than ever, a perfect pair. They climbed up to reign from the top, and no one questioned the dreams and deals, the luck and lies, the truths and tricks that they spread with liberal hands and fae smiles. Those who seek to enter their court would bring gifts and supplication, but they’d be better to watch their words the most. They are but a breath and yet are the highest currency.
ZOOL rose by tooth and by claw, by venom and anger, tossed in as sacrifices to the machine of revenge. Thrown in as befouled ingredients, their passage through the crucible of the public found that taint revered. Every crack and scowl, all the impurities and rough edges, adored in their own time and molded into their new forms with an unexpected ferocity. Teeth and claws gifted by their fans, pestilence and war forged into their voices, famine and death to come when they call. Though their hearts may turn, their anger cooling and venom no longer filling their mouths, the ride does not stop, they are bound to the fate of devastation. That is the price of the process.
Tsumugi cast the spell of Idolish7, and bound them together with a name that would never break. She knew the pantheon in the seven-headed hydra before she was aware of what she saw, naivety and innocence powering her wish to show them to the world and determination the fuel that set them ablaze. A rainbow of vices, beautiful in their messy mistakes, and those very flaws that belied their humanity became the shapes that would contain them forevermore. Tied to their flaws and yet worshipped for them, their gluttony and lust met with laughs and their pride and wrath met with cheers, they found their final fate cast in the stone of their spellbound fans.
Convinced to entrust the legacy of the process to another with the same ambitions, Kujo offered a progeny as the central cog, if Yaotome would provide his own flesh and blood for the altar too. The process is not normally one to obey the machinations of men, unless steered by an iron hand and a ruthless eye. Cast from the crushed remains of raw diamonds, manufactured with the perfect components and assembled with clinical precision, what could be the product but manifestations, dripping with desire. And if an idol falls from its pedestal, there will always be others. Their manager—equipped at first only with calipers and loupe, blowtorch and hacksaw—picked up cloth and polish to rescue what was left. But they’d changed too much to leave, grown soft and lithe despite their birthplace of metal and gems, and the process had claimed them for its own. Offer enough blood and sweat and the most stubborn gears will move, and thus were they swallowed.

IDOLiSH7 Prompt Week Day 2
Summary:
At the end of a gravel road, protected by a grove of old trees and hidden from the eyes of many, there was a grand old manor in which five children lived. The manor and its estate was beautiful, with fresh wildflowers that bloomed in the tall grasses of the fields and more rooms filled with ancient furniture and trinkets than one could count, but only few could appreciate its beauty, for the owner of the estate was a private man. He was good to his children, clothing them in the nicest clothing money could buy and teaching them the finest arts, but the man feared for if his children were to ever leave the estate. They could disappear forever, lost to the woods or the beasts that loomed just beyond it, and as such, the man forbade his children from ever leaving the property. Earnest, loving, and obedient, his children all obeyed, and so the life of the manor’s inhabitants continued in quiet peace. With so many earthly delights and wonders, it would be surprising if the children ever wished to leave such a wonderful place.
