Hey bitches! Just wanted to share a hack I have been using when it comes to paying down credit card debt. When I see something that I want but do not need, like say, a workout set in a color I adore when I already have plenty of gym clothes, I'll instead pay the amount that I would have spent on the item(s) towards my credit cards. It's been super useful, especially this time of year when there are so many temptations on sale, lol.

you're in the habit of denying yourself things.

if someone asked you directly, you would say that you love a little treat. you like iced coffee and getting the cookie. you drink juice out of a fancy cup sometimes, and often do use your candles until they gutter out helplessly.

but you hesitate about buying the 20 dollar hand mixer because, like. you could just use your arms. you weren't raised rich. you don't get to just spend the 20 dollars (remember when that could cover lunch?), at least - you don't spend that without agonizing over it first, trying to figure out the cost-benefits like you are defending yourself in front of a jury. yes, this rice cooker could seriously help you. but you do know how to make stovetop rice and it really isn't that hard. how many pies or brownies would you actually make, in order to make that hand mixer worthwhile?

what's wild is that if the money was for a friend, it would already be spent. you'd fork over 40 without blinking an eye, just to make them happy. the difference is that it's for you, so you need to justify it.

and it sneaks in. you ration yourself without meaning to - you don't finish the pint of ice cream, even though you want to. the next time you go to the store, you say ah, i really shouldn't, and then you walk away. you save little bits of your precious things - just in case. sometimes you even go so far as putting that one thing in your shopping cart. and then just leaving it there, because maybe-one-day, but not right now, there's other stuff going on.

you do self-care, of course. but you don't do it more than like, 3 days in a row. after that it just feels a little bit over-the-edge. like. you can't live in decadence, the economy is so bad right now, kid.

so you don't buy the rice cooker. you can-and-will spend the time over the stove. you can withstand the little sorrows. denial and discipline are practically synonyms. and you're not spoiled.

it's just - it's not always a rice cooker. sometimes it is a person or a job or a hug. sometimes it is asking for help. sometimes it is the summer and your college degree. sometimes it is looking down at scabbed knees and feeling a strange kind of falling, like you can't even recognize the girl you used to be. sometimes it is your handprint looking unsteady.

sometimes it is tuesday, and you didn't get fired, and you want to celebrate. but what is it you like, even? you search around your little heart and come up empty. you're so used to denying that all your desires draw a blank.

oh fuck. see, this is the perfect opportunity. if you had a mixer, you'd make a cake.

hey has anyone tried to buy a covid test lately. because i just had to buy one for a friend at my local walgreens and the cashier very seriously asked me if i was sure i wanted it because. a 2-pack of tests currently costs $23.99. do we not think that it's a little insane that the only reliable diagnostic tool for a very much ongoing pandemic costs over $20 for a single package. what if I didn't have that kind of money to burn??? i find it funny that some jc stans will laud jiang cheng’s political savvy and also say how jc always treated wwx like a brother (to then make wwx’s ‘promise-breaking’ seem like such a *massive* betrayal) and then go around and say that of course jiang cheng could not have helped wei wuxian because “he had to look after his clan!” while referring to the newly recruited disciples, forgetting entirely that if jc did consider wwx a brother, wwx and jiang yanli would be his ONLY remaining family and as such, if he were to prevent another event like lotus pier, it would include safeguarding wei wuxian, his “brother”, first and foremost! they also forget that “political savvy” and jiang cheng do not have any meaningful connection because it was precisely his lack of political acuity and tendency to let his emotions dictate his choices that allowed jin guangshan and the rest to manipulate him into withdrawing his support from wei wuxian.

i just don’t get some of the fandom’s vehement defence of characters in mdzs who had immense power (purely by nepotism and name-brand recognition basically) and the efforts to go around and around in talking points to absolve them of their guilt and wrongdoings, even if it is simply caused by wilful ignorance. for jiang cheng, ignorance can never be claimed and his actions are damningly wrong. he IS a fucking clown and in a striking moment of growth, he himself acknowledges this. there was no excuse that would justify him persecuting and aiding in the genocide of the wens and it is undeniable that he abandoned wei wuxian before wei wuxian ever suggested separating from the jiang clan.

yall are about to piss me off by not having any PASSING basic knowledge of the way the u.s. military manipulates its recruits into joining by typing up one of your uninformed, unresearched, unempathetic, individualistic, unbelievably annoying posts about how 100% of the people in the military ended up there because they just Love America So Damn Much! they're extremely mature and informed at time of recruitment, they can totally leave anytime they want, they totally had tons of other avenues in life they could've taken, there was no rush at all to get income as fast as possible, and everyone in the military also totally is part of the combat divisions and personally enjoys being IN the military very much, big believers of violence. everyone in the military is shooting guns all day, that's how that works. they LOVE BLOODSHED. also I love the "amewicans haha" twang to this type of shit because you're actually TOTALLY stealing our Thing, which is turning systemic issues into Individual Issues. Instead of talking about the powers that be, it's so Personal Choice up in here. It's, "well you shouldn't have done it then. I totally wouldn't because I know better." you don't wanna talk about the military industrial complex as a whole, and you don't want to talk about recruiters, you just want to pin the blame on Specific Individual People one-by-one, as if they're responsible for the system that they're being ground up in. someone was in the military? bad person, no matter what. it's easier to believe that, I guess, than to acknowledge that Normal People (with high school educations) are manipulated and incentivized into joining a system that is Bad. at like age 18. but yeah no that 18 year old should have just been smarter lol haha anyway here are some screenshots for no particular reason

I recently read "Unmasking Autism" and it felt like coming home. (I have been misdiagnosed my whole life.) I was so excited to find community and start meeting other people like me. But now I feel alienated--I feel like online Autism is basically a leftist political identity. It's fair to assume we all care about disability justice, but we don't all have the same beliefs about Israel and Palestine, for example, nor should we have to. Is there Autistic community that is not explicitly political?

You better reread Unmasking Autism because you missed a fuckin lot if you think embracing your disability is not an explicitly political project. Maybe focus on the sections about the American police shooting Black Autistic men, and Israeli military members slaughtering Palestinian Autistic people.
