DPxDC ADHD Coffee Addicts
Fact number one: Tim Drake inhales coffee like oxygen.
Fact number two: Danny Fenton inhales coffee like ectoplasm (because oxygen is only optional in his case).
Fact number three: Bats typically turn a blind eye when Danny drinks too much of it since there's not really a risk of him going into cardiac arrest with Danny being literally already dead.
Fact number four: they do not turn a blind eye when still thankfully alive Tim does it because they would like him to stay that way, please.
Problem: Tim has ADHD [a fact I strongly headcanon], and without his daily dose of coffee, he becomes not simply unhinged, but, dare I say, no longer connected to the door frame.
Bigger problem: Danny is slightly unhinged even when he has his coffee, and he also shows signs of ADHD. No one risks taking away his coffee in fear of what he might accomplish without it.
Fun fact: one of Batman's contingency plans for a world-ending-case-scenario is to throw Tim and Danny in a secluded room together, not give them any coffee, and simply wait for a few hours. Although this contingency is listed as 'last resort'.
P.S. coffee is not a great way to cope with ADHD. In fact, there's little evidence of it actually helping with the symptoms, but a man can dream, and a man can post random thoughts they find hilarious.

Hey, you're being lied to about what fitness constitutes. If you can't work in an hour-long crossfit slog, but you can work in a five-minute walk, then that is still fitness. If you can't use your legs but you can do arm circles every now and again, that is still fitness. If you're moving around at work, that's still fitness. It can be intentional or incidental, but here's the best part: your body doesn't care if you're dedicating specific work-out times. It doesn't care if the "only" fitness it gets is your nine to five on your feet. It doesn't care, fitness is fitness is fitness. Some of us do it differently, but the end result is more or less similar.
If you can do any type of fitness safely, your body isn't going to care if you're doing it like an Olympic athlete or if you're just a casual.
#fitness#gentle reminders#i hate hate hate the idea that fitness must be done Intentionally and in a Hegemonic Way#like... fitness is whatever you make of it and whatever you do#your body isn't going to be like 'well you walked for fove minutes but you didn't do shoulder presses at the gym so it doesn't count 😊'#if you want more specific forms of fitness then SURE you might want to do more specific exercises and activities#but if your goal is overall movement for however much if your body then... you don't Need to be THAT specific#and your goals may be specific for only parts of your body and that's GREAT!#a wheelchair user may for example do more arm exercises so they can use a manual chair for instance...#...and to many people i've noticed they don't think it 'counts' because the chair user isn't using 'all' of their body...#...but it's like... using your arms in non-powered chairs can be really important so like. it's still fitness.#you don't actually have to equally focus on everything if you don't want to or can't#all this to say that fitness is Not hegemonic and you don't need to feel shame about what you do or don't do#even a tiny tiny TINY amount is significant and matters <3#this is definitely something i've gotten more passionate about since becoming a ~gym bro~#because you see just how different people are and what they want out of fitness#and it's taught me a lot more about my own disabilities and how i work with (and even against) them to find balance#this is what i love about those fitness video games too! because they're often made to be engaging and fun!#i LOVED just dance as a kid and that was fitness merging with video games (and i loved video games (still do!))#and i HIGHLY recommend people get video games like just dance or that one nintendo ring game because of these elements!#it combines the comfort of home with movement with engaging music/story/video game elements#and things like that make me believe in peace and love and care on planet earth <<3

I mean… wlw content get overshadowed by mlm ships everyday so it is insensitive a little
Not to sound too mean but what do you expect me to do? I get that sapphic ships get overshadowed and underrated all the time in comparison to achillean ones. Believe me. I am a lesbian who is constantly pushing their sapphic ships everywhere.
But you can't expect people to suddenly stop posting about the achillean ships they enjoy just because they're more popular than YOUR favorite ships. Is it bothersome that achillean ships get more attention for the sole reason of being a male pairing while sapphic ships get ignored or not even suggested? Yeah!!!! It's frustrating.
But if you want some change in the amount of content you see then it's YOUR fight only and others should be allowed to post whatever they like. If you want to post only sapphic ships or you're bothered by them being talked in the same light as achillean ones, then it's YOUR choice to make.
Fandom is NOT activism!!! Fandom is meant to be enjoyed in whatever way you want. Fandom is to interpret media in your own way. So, honestly, if I want to make a simple post comparing two ships I like, why should I be trying to defend myself here for that? If people don't like it, then they can just block me, scroll, move on, etc.
To think a post about comparing fictional ships is insensitive is insane to me, tbh.
#bro i just made a post comparing a sapphic and an achillean ship please relax lmao#& don't act like this isn't specifically about shuggy hate bc i'm sure if it had been any other mlm ship i wouldn't have been getting hate#can i just PLEASE run my account however i like#also touch some grass these are fictional characters and making a wlw ship more popular won't do any changes in real life#and even if it did bc after all fandom IS a social enviornment and normalizing sapphic relationships is great always:#you can't just tell people they're being insensitive when it's just a simple post#i understand your point i really do#you think that comparing a sapphic ship to an achillean ship is bad bc it makes it focus on MEN only#and we already live in a men's world to have to deal with more men ig#but !!!!!!!!! something really fun about fandom is that it's FICTION and it does not affect reality in any way#and yes it is bothersome in a social level that male characters are more popular and we can study that and be bothered by it#but to claim it's insesitive or bad or harmful is just plainly stupid#once again fandom is not activism and i don't owe anyone to change my posts to highlight other ships more when my acc MINE#tldr i hate these discourses bc it makes ME be rude when i hate that#in fact i wouldn't be this mean rn if it wasn't bc i'm getting A LOT of asks abt this bc of a simple post lmao#you know i have a job to care about it's insane to me that you have enough free time to go to other people's acc to complain

Okay job Finally starts tomorrow I know you guys are following this employment journey at the edge of your seats ♥️
#now time for a deep sense of dread & doom lol#i can be normal i can be normal. workplace affirmations#sometimes it's not what i'm doing that's so bad it's just.#so in ballet sometimes there are dances where you hold your leg up and balance for a really long time while squeezing your muscles#that's not the hard part. the hard part is that if you don't relax OTHER muscles and seem like you're having a good time it looks like shit#you want to focus on holding your leg up. but it's really about looking like you're not focusing on holding it up#and that's life except it just goes on and on#you get to stop dancing right?#but life is 80 years if you're lucky. or unlucky however you want to see it#so when i try to imagine things i'd like to do or goals i'd like to set all i can think about is this stretching on and on and on#anyways! that was my existential crisis of the day time to eat leftovers and go on a walk

I think there's more potential in portalling Izuku into Worm than portalling Taylor into BNHA, because (early-canon) Izuku is so intrinsically tied to the BNHA power system. Taylor's defining issues revolve around bullies, and Worm makes a point of showing that bullies are the same whether or not they have powers, so changing the setting doesn't change how she interacts with her personal conflicts - but Deku's defining struggle is being Quirkless in a world where Quirks are the majority, and wanting to be a hero. Throwing him into a world where powers are vastly more destructive, viewed more negatively, and in the far minority... where heroism is a death sentence... that upends his entire character!
#The most interesting worm/bnha fic I've seen so far was a Taylor in BNHA (haven't seen any the other way around)#but the core conflict wasn't abt powers#instead she was attending UA and the conflicts were abt high school and social anxiety#anyways... they get that powers aren't central to her character#however with Deku you CAN focus on cape action AND cut to the core of who he is!#I just feel bad putting him in worm#it's like releasing your pomeranian into a pack of siberian wolves#izuku midoriya#taylor hebert#worm#bnha

My dad and I rewatched Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrel again after a few years and then we argued over who was going to read the book first that's been collecting dust on the bookshelf. Needless to say I'm loving it and I was always daunted by its size. But on the other hand I start to read and my brain goes "ooooh this makes me motivated to work on my sharpe artwork, especially of him in yorkshire" and then when I do that I go "oooh but what about the fics?" and then I switch to the fics and then i'm like "reading is so nice. let's go back to that" adhd hell!!!!!
#;ooc#(i need to call my insurance to find a psychiatrist but i would rather Not. I have “cant focus disease”)#(ALSO I bought havoc and fury bc i was too impatient to wait.)#(HOWEVER. I AM VERY CLOSE TO GETTING ONE OF MY DOODLES DONE I'M EXCITED.)#(it's the hair that's killing me. teresa your hair is so beautiful i wish i knew how to draw it better)#(it's a new doodle i haven't shown anyone yet..........)#(in the meantime. i am tailoring a pair of cute pants made from renaissance angel oil paintings to wear to the big Costco trip on sunday)#(As you can see my priorities are all over the place. if only there were some way to focus)

HEAD IN HANDS. I LAID DOWN THE CLEAREST TRACKS POSSIBLE FOR THE INTERN. WE WERE LIKE HALFWAY THERE. AND THEY JUST WENT OFF THE RAILS. like listen I’ll set you up for success but I’m not saving you from the consequences.
#my ramblings#the director of the program is like ‘oh… can we have them fix this and take on the responsibilities they want…’#and I am gently placing a hand on my softhearted director’s shoulder#and saying: no.#listen if the intern needed more time or had questions it’s up to the intern to ask#I’m open to extensions#I’m open to clarifications#I’m even open to supervising completion of work (but not doing the work)#however I am not standing in the way of The Boss#and I am not chasing an intern down when I have my own work#anyway I get it with how the intern’s trying to focus on school and has more priority on passing the class#I’ve been there#but also I Did Not Ignore A Supervisor’s Meticulously Detailed Report On Maintaining Compliance#bro my priority is not for you to pass your class. my priority is that you don’t fuck up and screw all of us over.

Hi! Recently decided to check out your oc masterpost and got interested. Will read some of your writing later today. Would you like feedback in ask, comment or DM form?
hi! thanks for asking!
my writing here is purely a hobby thing, so i'm really not looking for any actual, looking-to-improve type feedback. if i do at some point want feedback, you'll be- well. second on the list now :)
hope you enjoy whatever you read!
#rift noises#i see your good intention and i appreciate it#however i am not currently looking to really actively focus on improving on writing#i've got some notes for myself to keep in mind once i restart actual writing#but there's a few projects in my queue before that can happen#so any more feedback for me to process right now eat too many spoons for too long before i could get around to it#the one who is first on the list of Ask For Feedback should be obvious and if it isnt you need to spend more time on my blogs /lh

The short answer is... a tilt-shift lens.
The slightly more complicated answer is... Mister Rogers.
Depth of field is the area in front and behind your chosen focus point that remains in focus and then slowly gets blurry as you get farther away.
Shallow depth of field only has a narrow slice of the image in focus and gets blurry super quick. This is caused by a large lens aperture and being close to the subject.
Deep depth of field can extend through the entire picture if your aperture is small and you are super far away.
Usually the depth of field lines up with the image sensor of your camera. So if it is tilted forward, the plane of focus matches.
The stuff outside the green area would be blurry. The edges of the green would be slightly blurry. And the dashed green line would be the sharpest area of the photo.
But the tilt-shift lens allows you to create chaos with your plane of focus. In most cases, you would use this to flatten the depth of field so you can get a 2D plane entirely in focus.
If you were to use a normal lens, the bottom left and top right would be blurry.
But with a tilt-shift lens you can do this.
The green area is taking a little nap on the floor.
However, there is an unintended side effect created by this lens. (The "Scheimpflug intersection" if you want to go down the rabbit hole.) You can choose absolutely wacky planes of focus that create a very narrow depth of field over a geographically large area.
Believe it or not, this is when psychology comes into play.
And possibly Mister Rogers.
youtube
Our only reference for such a large area having a shallow depth of field is our memories of miniatures on TV. So Mister Rogers and Thomas the Tank Engine trained our brains to see this effect as... small.
Depth of field shrinks the closer you are to something. And when filming miniatures, you are placing the lens close to the scene. But the scene represents something big in our minds. We buy the effect, but not 100%. That blurriness wouldn't be there at a regular scale. So our subconscious remembers we are watching small things pretending to be big. It just files that away in the back of our mind.
And then when we see something like this...
Our brain is all, "Look at all that tiny shit!"
Without Mister Rogers, our brains may have never made these connections and tilt-shift photography may just make us wonder why everything is all blurry. That connection to past experience is vital for this effect to be convincing.
Brains are neat.

The data does not support the assumption that all burned out people can “recover.” And when we fully appreciate what burnout signals in the body, and where it comes from on a social, economic, and psychological level, it should become clear to us that there’s nothing beneficial in returning to an unsustainable status quo.
The term “burned out” is sometimes used to simply mean “stressed” or “tired,” and many organizations benefit from framing the condition in such light terms. Short-term, casual burnout (like you might get after one particularly stressful work deadline, or following final exams) has a positive prognosis: within three months of enjoying a reduced workload and increased time for rest and leisure, 80% of mildly burned-out workers are able to make a full return to their jobs.
But there’s a lot of unanswered questions lurking behind this happy statistic. For instance, how many workers in this economy actually have the ability to take three months off work to focus on burnout recovery? What happens if a mildly burnt-out person does not get that rest, and has to keep toiling away as more deadlines pile up? And what is the point of returning to work if the job is going to remain as grueling and uncontrollable as it was when it first burned the worker out?
Burnout that is not treated swiftly can become far more severe. Clinical psychologist and burnout expert Arno van Dam writes that when left unattended (or forcibly pushed through), mild burnout can metastasize into clinical burnout, which the International Classification of Diseases defines as feelings of energy depletion, increased mental distance, and a reduced sense of personal agency. Clinically burned-out people are not only tired, they also feel detached from other people and no longer in control of their lives, in other words.
Unfortunately, clinical burnout has quite a dismal trajectory. Multiple studies by van Dam and others have found that clinical burnout sufferers may require a year or more of rest following treatment before they can feel better, and that some of burnout’s lingering effects don’t go away easily, if at all.
In one study conducted by Anita Eskildsen, for example, burnout sufferers continued to show memory and processing speed declines one year after burnout. Their cognitive processing skills improved slightly since seeking treatment, but the experience of having been burnt out had still left them operating significantly below their non-burned-out peers or their prior self, with no signs of bouncing back.
It took two years for subjects in one of van Dam’s studies to return to “normal” levels of involvement and competence at work. following an incident of clinical burnout. However, even after a multi-year recovery period they still performed worse than the non-burned-out control group on a cognitive task designed to test their planning and preparation abilities. Though they no longer qualified as clinically burned out, former burnout sufferers still reported greater exhaustion, fatigue, depression, and distress than controls.
In his review of the scientific literature, van Dam reports that anywhere from 25% to 50% of clinical burnout sufferers do not make a full recovery even four years after their illness. Studies generally find that burnout sufferers make most of their mental and physical health gains in the first year after treatment, but continue to underperform on neuropsychological tests for many years afterward, compared to control subjects who were never burned out.
People who have experienced burnout report worse memories, slower reaction times, less attentiveness, lower motivation, greater exhaustion, reduced work capability, and more negative health symptoms, long after their period of overwork has stopped. It’s as if burnout sufferers have fallen off their previous life trajectory, and cannot ever climb fully back up.
And that’s just among the people who receive some kind of treatment for their burnout and have the opportunity to rest. I found one study that followed burned-out teachers for seven years and reported over 14% of them remained highly burnt-out the entire time. These teachers continued feeling depersonalized, emotionally drained, ineffective, dizzy, sick to their stomachs, and desperate to leave their jobs for the better part of a decade. But they kept working in spite of it (or more likely, from a lack of other options), lowering their odds of ever healing all the while.
Van Dam observes that clinical burnout patients tend to suffer from an excess of perseverance, rather than the opposite: “Patients with clinical burnout…report that they ignored stress symptoms for several years,” he writes. “Living a stressful life was a normal condition for them. Some were not even aware of the stressfulness of their lives, until they collapsed.”
Instead of seeking help for workplace problems or reducing their workload, as most people do, clinical burnout sufferers typically push themselves through unpleasant circumstances and avoid asking for help. They’re also less likely to give up when placed under frustrating circumstances, instead throttling the gas in hopes that their problems can be fixed with extra effort. They become hyperactive, unable to rest or enjoy holidays, their bodies wired to treat work as the solution to every problem. It is only after living at this unrelenting pace for years that they tumble into severe burnout.
Among both masked Autistics and overworked employees, the people most likely to reach catastrophic, body-breaking levels of burnout are the people most primed to ignore their own physical boundaries for as long as possible. Clinical burnout sufferers work far past the point that virtually anyone else would ask for help, take a break, or stop caring about their work.
And when viewed from this perspective, we can see burnout as the saving grace of the compulsive workaholic — and the path to liberation for the masked disabled person who has nearly killed themselves trying to pass as a diligent worker bee.
I wrote about the latest data on burnout "recovery," and the similarities and differences between Autistic burnout and conventional clinical burnout. The full piece is free to read or have narrated to you in the Substack app at drdevonprice.substack.com

A lot of younger people have no idea what aging actually looks and feels like, and the reasons behind it. That ignorance is so dangerous. If you don’t want to “be old,” you aren’t talking about a number of years. I have patients in their late 80s who could still handily beat me in a race—one couple still runs marathons together, in their late 80s—and I lost someone who was in her early 60s to COPD last year. What you want is not youth, it is health.
If you want to still be able to enjoy doing things in your 60s and 70s and 80s and even 90s, what you want to do, right now, is quit smoking, get some activity on a regular basis (a couple of walks a week is WAY better for you than nothing; increasing from 1 hour a day of cardio to 1.5 will buy you very little), and eat some plants. That’s it. No magic to it. No secret weird tricks. Don’t poison yourself, move around so your body doesn’t forget how, and eat plants.
If you have trouble moving around now because of mobility limitations, bad news: you still need to move around, not because it’s immoral not to, but because that’s still the best advice we have. I highly recommend looking up the Sit and Be Fit series; it is freely available and has exercises that can be done in a chair, which are suitable for people with limited mobility or poor balance. POTS sufferers, I’m looking at you.
If you have trouble eating plants because of dietary issues (they cause gas, etc.) or just because they’re bitter (super taster with texture issues here!), bad news. You still want to find a way to get some plants into your body on a regular basis. I know. It sucks. The only way I can do it is restaurants—they can make salads taste like food. I can also tolerate some bagged salads. On bad weeks, the OCD with contamination focus gets so bad I just can’t. However, canned beans always seem “safe,” and they taste a bit like candy, so they’re a good fallback.
If you smoke and you have tried quitting a million times and you’re just not ready to, bad news. You still need to quit. Your body needs you to try and keep trying. Your brain needs it, too. Damaging small blood vessels racks up cumulative damage over time that your body can start trying to reverse as soon as you quit. I know it’s insanely, absurdly addictive. You still need to.
You cannot rules lawyer your way past your body’s basic needs. It needs food, sleep, activity, and the absence of poison. Those are both small things and big asks. You cannot sustain a routine based on punishment, so don’t punish your body. Find ways to include these things that are enjoyable and rewarding instead. Experiment. There is no reason not to experiment—you don’t have to know instantly what’s going to work for you and what won’t, you just need to be willing to try things and make changes when things aren’t working for you.
You will still age. Your body will stop making collagen and elastin. Tissues you can see and tissues you can’t see will both sag. Cushioning tissues under your skin will get thinner. You’ll bruise more easily. Skin will tear more easily. Accumulated sun damage will start to show more and more. Joints will begin to show arthritis. Tendons and ligaments will get weaker and get injured more easily, as will muscles. Bones will lose mass and get easier to break. You’ll get tired more easily.
But you know what makes the difference between being dead, or as good as, in your 60s vs your 90s? Activity, plants, and quitting smoking. And don’t do meth. Saw a 58-year-old guy this week who is going to have a heart attack if he doesn’t quit whatever stimulant he’s on. I pretended to believe it was just the cigarettes, and maybe it is, but meth and cocaine will kill you quicker. Stop poisoning yourself.
Baby steps; take it one step at a time; you don’t need to have everything figured out right now. But you do need to be working on figuring things out.

physically incapable of being honest i simply MUST concoct an elaborate and potentially ongoing lie to tell my boss im quitting over text barely three weeks in because saying 'hey man i actually dont think this job is as good a fit for me like i thought itd be and i really need to focus on my classes right now because theyre also a lot more demanding than i thought theyd be as well so i think itd be best for me to part ways on good terms before things start to go south' is simply doing too much and would bring the morale down. i need to lie to this man
#like is my immediate. borderline compulsive kneejerk reaction to lie about any and everything in my life a sign of something? perhaps#but i am choosing to ignore it#i normally would not be this bad abt quitting but ever since i found out theres only 5 (five) ppl TOTAL employed here it#kinda messed me up bc i know how much it sucks working w a skeleton crew but i also dont want to fuck myself over#by staying at a place that i dread going to BECAUSE its so short staffed#also like. the man just finished the schedules up until next month and i have No Days Off like i still have classes bro#i cannot be taking six years to finish a fucking two year degree#but now i feel bad abt quitting so suddenly (and over text at like 3am) bc my boss isnt a bad guy or anything hes actually pretty chill#however i genuinely think id actually lose it for real if i stayed here any longer#perhaps in another world i have the opposite problem and can only tell the truth at all times#im getting off track now i need to focus on the Lore of my Lies#sorry gma but im using you as my one free family emergency pass to get out of work (she is already dead)#yall already know the drill if you read all of this dont forget to like comment subscribe and hit that notification bell#or offer advice too idc just know if your answer is 'just be honest' i will not be doing that

This may seem silly but this is what I needed to hear in 2016, so I’m going to say it now. It’s okay to feel hopeless or angry or scared or betrayed or even just mildly nauseous. However you feel is the right reaction for you. You’re just not allowed to kill yourself. You are too good, too valuable, too important for this to be the thing that takes you. Yes the world is a mess, but taking one good person out of it isn’t going to make it any better.
So take care of yourself. Wrap yourself in that blanket. Get that hug. Eat that mug cake. Find your life preserver whatever it may be and keep going. You are stronger than you realize.
Deciding to do something when you’re feeling defeated is hard. If all you can take care of is you today, focus on doing that. Tomorrow or a week from now you can look at what your community needs to do to weather the storm in the long term. Yes communities are hurting now, but having to grieve one more person isn’t going to make anyone’s life any better. Please keep going. Please don’t let this election take you too.

true form! sukuna can sense when you’re ovulating or when that time is coming.
and quite frankly, he loved both of those times. just a waiting game for him, seeing how long you can remain with this whole “fuck me , my period is coming soon if you dont” charade and it makes him chuckle, because a period doesnt stop shit for him. hell, it was common in the heian era.
however, he guesses that he can be a little less rough with you on your period. the heavy flows, the meanest cramps, fat and tender breasts, you feel everything for the next five or eight days. and because he is a man, he allows you to cling to him and he doesn’t get mad at that..
youre more focused on the cramps in your uterus and ass to focus on his heart beating faster, or when he shifts from uncomfortable to comfortable.
“uruame.” he beckons, a figure then coming out from the shadows of the corner in the room. “fetch her a heating pad, now.” and they only nod, leaving as soon as they walked in.
“you didnt have to do that..” you groan out, being tucked away in his arms and he scoffs. “what?”
“are you ungrateful, woman?” he asked, eyes flickering to you and a scowl on his face. “i dont have to do shit for you.”
“.. i am grateful, ryo.” you scoff back, not in the mood nor having the strength to argue.
“okay then,” he continues to rub circles in your back, a subconscious feeling that he loved when it came to feeling depths in your bones. they were smaller than his, you were smaller than him.
just shut up and let him be a man to take care of you.
