“Are you saying you suddenly care?” Jaskier snaps, glaring. 

“Please let me care.” Geralt whispers, and when Jaskier says no word of protest, does nothing to stop him, takes his hand and wraps him into a hug. 

Maybe he won’t crumble. Maybe he can be held together, if he lets it be.

I almost hate how conservative (?) i am about miraxus... Lemme explain myself.

To begin with, I'm a classical nalu (x nagray, cuz natsu and gray are a married couple, i don't make the rules), and i love gajevy, and my other (other-other) pairings are hannigram, sns, sterek, destiel, geraskier, draciolus (if you know - you know), eruri, like..im a classical pansexual they/them with classic ass OTPs, and most of them are fuckin' GAY, and ofc i love it ... More gay = good for me, i love gay people, these are my people, my nation. Even the fuckin' Zukka. I love 'em. I think everyone should be gay.

But miraxus?

Heterosexuals.

Hundred percent.

Fucking heterosexuals.

I'm SHAKING abt it, LIKE, DAMN, BOTH OF YOU ARE SO FUCKIN' FRUITY, LIKE, LAXUS, THE FUCK DO YOU LOOK LIKE THAT? U GAY MAN. U FUCKIN' BEAR. WHY ARE YOU SO GAY. And I'm looking at Mirajane and you don't know but SHE IS MY WIFE, AND I AM FEMALE, MY SEX IS FEMALE, SHE IS- SHE IS LIKE A DREAM. HAVE YOU SEEN HER? SHE'S. SHE'S. SHE!!!! S H E ! ! ! ! SHOULD I REALLY EXPLAIN MYSELF? MIRAJANE FUCKIN' STRAUSS.

But then.

I prefer to listen to my inner voice.

And my inner voice is saying they're both heterosexuals. MAXIMUM bisexuals. I can't explain it, i seriously cannot, i just genuinely think Mirajane somehow likes men (eeewwwww, ghoooorl, whyyyyyy), and Laxus likes women (understandable. relatable.), and I'm comfortable with it. I just think that's how it is, cuz it's fine - being heterosexual. I love them no matter what. And i know a lot of people ship also Mirajane x Erza, and i think it's wonderful, like, they are wives, c'mon, they are... But 2x.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who can separate canon-canon, fanon-canon, and fanon-fanon. Please. I need to know I'm not alone in this fucking fandom thinking this way. I really need it. I swear.

Canon-canon: we don't know their (miraxus) sexuality, so they can be whatever they want, they don't show any romantic interest in anyone in the PLOT of the anime/manga, in the action, not covers, etc.

Fanon-canon: Mirajane and Laxus are at least bisexuals and are prolly gonna end up together, Mashima said so, i think so, that's understandable and logical for me, i (personally) like it, cuz their personalities suit each other, that's why i wholeheartedly ship miraxus.

Fanon-fanon: they are all gay. All of them. All on them. Not a single person in that fucking guild is even a slightest bit hetero. No one. Literally zero heterosexuality per person. This is THE guild of lesbians and gays. AND I LOVE IT. I truly sincerely absolutely love it (cuz it once again makes Mirajane MY WIFEY, I LOVE MY WIFE!!!!).

And there's a second thing i hate abt myself when i think about miraxus compared to every single other pair i ship: when i think abt eruri or sns or *whoever* i think like yeah, they're gonna have max. two kids. That's all. Three - is unbelievable, but acceptable. But like..more on the unbelievable side, ykwim. Highly likely just two kids.

BUT MIRAXIS? IN MY HEAD? IN MY FANON-FANON HEAD? FIVE. And never less. (In fanon-canon just three).

FIVE CHILDREN. FIVE. FIVE FUCKIN' CHILDREN. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY BUT I LOVE IT. I LOVE IT. I DON'T KNOW WHY. I JUST DO. The older twins (boy and girl, ctrl c & ctrl v, the girl is copied from Laxus, the boy is completely Mirajane's child, except for appearance). Then - the third boy, and now HE'S looking like Mirajane, and calm like adult-her (not when he's pissed off, tho, when he's pissed off he's gonna throw you at a fuckin' wall with his confident soothing smile remaining). Then is the fourth girl with Laxus's hair and she's her grand grandpa's baby, she's like fem!Makarov, my ghorl is a calm clown, you don't know she's high until she opens her mouth. The fifth is also a girl and she's the best. And beast. Have you ever seen a baby capable of killing the whole guilt at the age of two years? She can. Cuz she's just learning how to talk and dad once said 'fairy law' and she repeated it and, well, they're so lucky she doesn't hate anybody........... They're so lucky... And now she's banned from magic. Yeah.

Last song I listened to: Everything Black by Unlike Pluto; because I got annoyed by something and needed a quick little dance break in the bathroom to cleanse myself from negative feelings. And the beat drop in that song served me well. (Fun Fact: I discovered this song through a random Lee Soo-hyuk / Park Joong-gil edit YouTube recommended to me. And now I feel like I must rewatch all of his Tomorrow scenes. Fuck, this man is fine. 😫)

Three ships: Well, the Jolly Roger - NO, I'm not going to steal that joke. (Even though that specific ship "has sailed and there's a pirate on it". Man... I haven't had OUAT and Captain Swan on my mind in like 5 years. RIP to the person I was, lol.)

I'm legally obliged to say VegasPete because they irreversibly changed my brain chemistry. I haven't had a peaceful day since June 18th 2022.

The second one is WangXian. The Chinese sword gays*TM are the reason why I'm in this Asian BL mess in the first place. I watched the opening scene of The Untamed in April 2020, heard Wei Wuxian say "Lan Zhan" while hanging from that cliff and my brain went WHELP THAT'S IT. THAT'S OUR LIFE NOW. And the rest is history. 🤡

But I feel like these are quite obvious (and so are my other main ships) - so let's make it interesting with the third one: Geraskier. Not the Netflix version of them (DEAR GOD), not the book version of them (infinitely better though) but my personal AO3 version of them that's composed out of the few hundred hurt/comfort fics I read through the whole of 2021. These h/c fics were my number one coping mechanism through that particular year. They still are, in a way. It's always hurt the bard o'clock somewhere, I guess.

Currently reading: I'm about to start a new book but I can't decide which one to choose out of my art installation of unread books. Probably A Gathering of Shadows by V. E. Schwab. I really enjoyed the first novel of the Shades of Magic Series. Yesterday I re-read Quiet by didoandis on AO3, a Geraskier fanfic I like. And I really need to read fuck it all back down by syzygetic because people just keep recommending that one to me. 👀

Most recent movie I watched: Men by Alex Garland. I was quite intrigued by the setting and the atmosphere and the feeling of danger - in the first half. And then they fucking lost me. I was more or less...laughing? through the last 15 minutes. Because what was that, my dude. You can push weird, shocking, and disgusting stuff only so far until it gets boring. Even if it is supposed to be full of meaning, an abstract representation of the greater issue at play. Watching an infinity loop of bastardised mpreg! fanfics come to live just didn't do it for me, I'm sorry.

Craving: A piece of the Pumpkin Spice Loaf Cake from Starbucks and a glass of La Cidraie. I'm craving the inner peace I felt the last time I had that.

i go absolutely feral for h/c where one character gets hurt and you think they are dead and the other character confesses that they love them and then the one dying gasps awake and gets healed and later asks "did you mean it?" and then cuddles and kisses!! bonus points if Geralt is the one confessing to Jaskier🥰🥰

Cold. Every cell in Geralt's body was shocked to the point of pain by how cold the river was. He fought the instinct to gasp even as he was submerged in the freezing, churning current. Forcing his eyes open, he finally remembered why he'd plunged headfirst into a river not one full week into March. 

Jaskier's limp form was being swept away from him beneath the rippling foaming water. 

He managed to kick off a rock and grasp the bard by the wrist before kicking with all he had for the surface. He coughed and sputtered as he hauled them to shore, a cold weight that had nothing to do with the temperature settling in his stomach when Jaskier didn't do the same. 

"Jaskier." Geralt growled as he dragged him all the way up onto the sand before dropping to his knees next to him, "Jaskier!" 

He got no answer. 

His hands shook as they hovered over the bard's chest, the only thing that kept him moving was the too faint and too far apart heartbeat that belonged to the only person he'd ever really loved. His arms worked on their own, crossing one palm over the back of his other hand and pressing down on Jaskier's chest in a steady rhythm. 

He paused for a moment, listening for a stronger heartbeat. 

He heard nothing. 

He worked furiously now, pumping the bard's heart for him, barely keeping from cracking his ribs with the force before he pinched Jaskier's nose to check his airway, "No... No no no no no. No! Jaskier you don't get to die on me like this." 

He pressed down eight more times before sealing his lips to Jaskier's and breathing for him, "Don't you fucking dare leave me." 

He noted there were tears on Jaskier's cheek that couldn’t belong to him with a numb sense of wonder as he pumped his heart for him eight more times. Again, nothing happened when he finished his exhale and pulled away to lean on the bard's heart. And again. And once more. 

"Jaskier, please. I love you. Please don't go." 

He breathed for him again, this time hearing his heartbeat just once on its own. 

Geralt was yelling now, more terrified than he'd ever been in his life, "Damnit Jask! BREATHE! I can't lose you! Please just fucking breathe!"

A sob tore at his throat as he leaned over once more, whispering his plea as his heart crumbled in his chest, "Breathe. I love you, Julek. Please breathe." 

At the end of his exhale he felt something thump against his chest and he reeled backward. 

Jaskier coughed and tried to suck in a breath as his hands dug at the sand in his disorientation. Geralt rolled him onto his side, laughing a little hysterically as tears were still flowing freely down his cheeks, rubbing a soothing hand on his back as he expelled a lungful of water. 

When he tried to sit up Geralt held him down, brushing his wet hair out of his eyes, "Shhh, stay there. You need to lie still." 

Jaskier's eyes finally found him, the fear melting into confusion as he tried to croak out his words, "You're crying." 

Geralt nodded, shivering as his body finally relaxed and let him feel the cold again, "You died." 

"Shit."

Geralt nodded again, feeling weak as he clapped a hand on Jaskier's thigh before rocking up to his knees, "You need to get warm, arms up." 

He scooped his arms under Jaskier's shoulders and knees, almost falling into another fit of sobs when the trembling man wrapped his arms around his neck and held tight. 

His bard was still here. He was alive. 

Geralt walked up the riverbank until he came upon their camp, Roach nickering as they approached. He set Jaskier down as gently as he could and began peeling off his wet clothes. All he could hear, all he wanted to hear, was Jaskier's heartbeat as he worked. Soon Jaskier was dressed and dry and tucked into his bedroll. Geralt haphazardly stacked some logs in a hole in the sand, setting them ablaze before he scooted the bard closer to the flames. 

There was more color in his cheeks but Geralt wasn't satisfied. He dug through their packs and found the kettle and some tea leaves. 

"G-eralt. You're blue." Jaskier's voice was weak and jarring, but as Geralt looked at his hands he realized he was right, "Tea ca-can wait." 

Geralt didn't much care if he stayed this cold for the rest of his life, so long as Jaskier was safe, but his bard looked so worried… 

"Get changed, Geralt. Please. I'm fine."

His upper lip curled back in a snarl, “You’re not fine.”

“Geralt.”

The bard’s usually strong and dulcet voice cracked on his name and Geralt melted. He’d rather get Jaskier to drink something, but he’d do anything never to hear Jaskier sound so desperate and weak ever again. He clenched his jaw and obeyed, wringing his hair out and sitting next to Jaskier and the fire. 

Neither of them spoke for a while, each looking into the fire and worrying about the other. 

As the sun was close to setting, Geralt insisted Jaskier at least eat if he wouldn’t drink tea.

“You’re not warming up.” he grunted, kicking some rocks into the fire to place under his bedroll later. 

“M’not a witcher.” Jaskier offered, a hint of a tired smile on his lips, he untucked himself from the cocoon of bedroll and blankets and held an edge open, “Come here.”

For once, Geralt didn’t hesitate. He slipped into the nest behind the bard, wrapping one arm over his waist and pulling him close while the other became Jaksier’s pillow. His anxious thoughts slowly faded into the background as Jaskier’s heartbeat picked up its pace just like it did every time they shared a bed. It After missing the sound for so long the normalcy and predictability of it was comforting. His eyes finally felt heavy and he was further lulled toward sleep as he nuzzled into the bard’s soft hair, familiar, sweet soaps and oils shutting out all other scents.

He almost didn’t notice when Jaskier whispered, “Did you mean it?”

Geralt pulled him closer, tilting his head to be closer to Jaskier’s ear, “Did I mean what?” he whispered back.

“When-” Jaskier sucked in a shaky breath which he forced out slowly before continuing, “when you said you love me?”

“I did.” There was no point in lying anymore. Geralt had lived two minutes of life without Jaskier and he was too terrified of having to endure any more to worry about what his pride thought. 

“I love you too.” Jaskier turned his head and placed a soft kiss on the inside of Geralt’s elbow before burrowing deeper into his embrace. 

Geralt pressed his lips to his hair, mumbling against his scalp, “Don’t ever leave me.” It was a terrified and heartfelt plea. 

“Never again.”

The year is 1958 and things are finally getting back to normal after the War... sort of.

Jaskier has been cut off by his parents for refusing to attend business school and take over the family vacuum factory, so he decides to get a job (you know, like not-rich people do).

What job would pay decently and allow him to see the world at the same time? Flight attendant, of course! 

He just needs enough money to get him to Oxenfurt, the heart of the raging Beatnik movement.

Geralt was drafted and ended up flying with the Witcher Corps during the war, eventually hoping to make a career of the air force. After his injury and subsequent honorable discharge, however, he needs a reliable way to make ends meet.

Luckily, luxury air travel has just come into vogue. With his incredible breadth of technical knowledge and air-tight credentials, Geralt has his pick of available flight paths: he chooses only red-eyes.

Flying odd hours prevents him from having to think about settling down and trapping some poor woman with his sorry excuse for companionship.

Before a late evening intercontinental flight, Geralt meets Morhen Airlines’ latest batch of flight attendants at the gate. One of them in particular, a brunette with striking features and a gloriously round ass, catches his attention.

He reads the boy’s nametag: Jaskier.

Geralt gets into the cockpit and forgets about Jaskier for a solid seven hours, until the sprightly young attendant peeks into the front of the plane with a neat, porcelain cup of coffee. “For you, sir?”

“Hmm.” 

They fly together three more times before parting ways. Jaskier always makes sure to give him the first cup from the last batch of coffee. The freshest cup made on any flight. 

Slowly, the two men get to know each other. 

Jaskier learns about Geralt’s injury and the way his leg hurts when the weather changes. 

He learns about the other Witcher Corps pilots, the ones who survived and the ones who didn’t. He holds Geralt’s hand one night at the hotel, letting the larger man cry without judgement.

Jaskier knows how hard it is to lose a family.

The attendant learns about Geralt’s two closest friends, his fellow Wolves and veterans, Lambert and Eskel. Practically Geralt’s brothers.

Geralt learns about Jaskier’s family situation and apologizes. “Nobody should have to go through that. You love each other through your differences, that’s what families do.”

Jaskier sighs and tells Geralt about how much he misses living near the coast. He tells the handsome pilot his greatest wish: to have a little cabin near the ocean, maybe with a dog or a horse. Maybe with a wife... or a husband.

Geralt learns that Jaskier has a beautiful voice, and Jaskier nearly faints when he says: “Sinatra’s got nothing on you, kid.”

And then their casual conversations turn into something else...

Jaskier lingers when he delivers coffee, sometimes just smiling at Geralt in silence.

He lets their hands brush when he gathers Geralt’s dinner dishes from the in-flight meal and blushes when their gazes meet.

He finds himself looking for Geralt in the terminal, searching out that shock of white hair beneath the pilot’s hat. 

Geralt finds himself dreaming of brown hair and blue eyes and a bright laugh.

Everywhere he goes he smells chamomile tea and fresh ground coffee.

They eventually come to realize that they’ve fallen in love.

One afternoon before a regular flight, Geralt arrives at the terminal out of uniform. Jaskier gives him a quizzical look, eyebrows wrinkling when the pilot removes the uniform hat from Jaskier’s head. 

“Geralt, dear heart, what are you doing?”

“Let’s go.”

“Go where? To see your brothers, to Oxenfurt?” 

“No, Jaskier.” Geralt hooks their pinkies together. “Let’s go to the coast.”

Okay, so I think it is commonly accepted that one of Jaskier’s love languages is Physical Touch. Handholding, hugs, brushing someone’s hair... He can never keep his hands to himself in the purest sense possible.

But what if it is Geralt’s love language, too? Only it has quite literally been beaten out of him, years of indoctrination and Witchers don’t feel, Witchers don’t deserve comfort making him flinch whenever someone reaches out to caress instead of punch him.

It takes weeks after their first kiss for Geralt to be able to hold Jaskier’s hand without literally shaking, his palms clammy and fighting every instinct that is telling him to pull back and that he doesn’t deserve this.

Jaskier is so patient with him though, because yes, they have shared beds before and yes, he has washed the Witcher more times than he can count. But this is different.

He can see how much his lover is struggling, and so he encourages him time and time again. “You’re allowed to touch me. You’re allowed to be comforted. You deserve to be held.”

Eventually, Geralt starts reaching for Jaskier’s hand on his own volition. He is no longer shaking, the touch reassuring him instead.

Sometime after, he starts resting his hand on Jaskier’s thigh whenever they’re eating. If they’re sitting opposite of each other he puts his foot on Jaskier’s.

And one day, when the Witcher gets back from a hunt and Jaskier is waiting for him at the inn, working on a poem or a song, he all but runs up to their room and sweeps the bard up in his arms.

His face hidden in Jaskier’s neck and their chests so flush he can feel their hearts beating in sync he asks: “Can we cuddle?”

I wrote a new Geraskier fic! It’s dedicated to and and inspired by my good pal @nicestmeangirll !

Here’s a wee snippet:

“How do you feel, my friend?”

‘Like shit,’ Geralt wants to say, because it feels like he’s been trampled by a rather large caravan containing one travelling circus that has at least two domesticated ogres with them. “Like I should get back on the road,” Geralt grunts instead, pushing himself into a sitting position. His side immediately twinges with pain, the raw skin pulling taut around the fresh stitches there.

Jaskier’s cheerful demeanour immediately deflates a little, as though it’d been a carefully maintained facade all along, and he shakes his head mournfully. “You can’t, I’m afraid.”

“Why not?” If Jaskier is about to give him some shit about travelling while injured, Geralt had a few choice words to the bard who should know better after twenty-plus years together. Geralt would heal in the matter of a couple of days, and he’s already on a tight schedule to get back to Kaer Morhen for the winter as he’d pushed it as far back as he’d been able. When he’d dropped Jaskier off, Geralt had given himself exactly ten days to travel up the Blue Mountain before the witcher trail would be practically impossible to traverse, and the younger man knows this.

Jaskier sighs and sets aside the needle and thread on a small stool sitting next to him, also containing a basin, a small bowl with something green and grey inside, and a bloodied cloth. He puts both his hands onto his knees as though bracing himself as he looks Geralt in the eyes. “Because you’ve been out of it for almost three weeks.”
