On a Hot Summer's Day

It's been a few days since I've filled my queue, but I have a minute between Halloween and multiple children's birthday parties, so I'll do my best!

Brooks, like a good boy, is up bright and early to deliver the newspaper...along with a couple of notifications! Yay!! Another wedding in the works! Unfortunately, I suspect I won't be on rotation for it, but don't worry, as with Redwood Harbor, I plan to take some posed pictures for an album!

Jasmine was up before Shorty of course so she had a little fun before taking care of Ephraim. It's a weekend so everyone is home...well, off of work.

I guess Story Progression didn't take my que when naming the Garrett's new LO. Jill, Joe, Blake?? One of these things is not like the other! Oh well, it's a solid name. And I try to stay away from renaming babies born to SP unless I absolutely need to for keeping my sims straight. I may be alone in this, but my gameplay feels more immersive to me the less I interfere.

With Shorty still asleep and Jasmine again in need of some cheering up, it was time to fulfill at least one small want of hers. Take Ephraim and Brooks for a walk!

It was super cute, but it didn't take long before everyone was all sweaty and miserable. It is summer after all, and I do have my tempest settings set to a sub-tropical climate for St. Bernie!

Oh no! And Ivy is expecting their child too! I really hope this doesn't turn into another weird Korey and Angela situation where Freddie starts hooking up with all of her friends!

Jessie is shaking when Penny approaches her, wrapping a soft blanket around the woman’s shoulders to guide her to a seat. She’d come to see the woman when her father called for help, now, as she worked to fix Jessie’s dislocation she knew the woman was nervous.    “You’ll be okay Jessie, just relax...”    After a pause she talks softly, distracting Jessie from what she’s about to do until she had reset Jessie’s dislocated shoulder, her smile soft when Jessie shudders then thanks her, gently tucking a strand of hair from Jessie’s eyes. 

  “I’m just glad you’ll be okay.”    The two talk a while longer, Penny accepting an invite to see Jessie for a date the next day. The two women would continue to casually date, only really addressing it when they were sure they wanted more from their relationship.

okay i finished reading my fourth pink floyd book and i want to share my thoughts on them:

Inside Out by Nick Mason: first one i read, so i didn't know much of the band’s lore or the side characters, will probably reread it in the near future. Nick is funny and he was definitely the best one and the only that could write a book about themselves. He gives a lot of details on how things were recorded, but kind of just glazes over other stuff I wanted more details on. And he makes fun of Roger and I love him for that.

Pigs Might Fly by Mark Blake: i think most people consider this the best one and it is very complete, specially up until dark side, for wywh and animals i needed more. It is very up to date as well, I think the last edition is from 2017 and has extra stuff. Really liked when he would start the chapter with some more recent pink floyd happening and use it to segue back into their history. He also tells Syd story after pf in parallel with the band’s , giving Syd updates at the start of almost every chapter, I liked this approach.

The Making of Pink Floyd The Wall by Gerald Scarfe: i got a great deal on a used copy of this and i absolutely adore it. His art suits Pink Floyd so well and I’ve become obsessed with him while reading this. Really interesting insights on some of the creative processes and the band’s personalities. Probably one of my most treasured pf items.

A Saucerful of Secrets by Nicholas Schaffner: this one was written in the late 80s and early 90s so it is very interesting view of the band up to that point. He didn’t follow the same linear approach as Mark Blake and it kind of bothered me a bit, i.e. he finished all of Syd story before getting to the post Syd floyd. Some new stuff I learned was that peter jenner really hates roger lol and that roger and judy were trying to have a child but it wasn’t happening.

I got into Blake's 7 because I was told Kerr Avon is the Blake's 7 equivalent of Gerald Tarrant, and in moments like these I can really see it.

A lot of these are good bad boys, or villains with a heart. Many have some hidden dark past or secret identity. They often look elegant, swift or graceful rather than bulky; their strength tends to lie in their mind more than their body, and insofar as they’re physically strong, it’s in a way that makes them look like a figure skater rather than a wrestler. They’re all brilliant and very competent at what they do. They tend to have a certain wisdom in the way they see the world, delivering unexpected and often sarcastic insights, but with a sweet bitterness that hints at a sensitivity they are trying to hide.
