my current opinion on this (stupid) situation (which could've been solved in private)
i feel bad for both caiti and george
caiti, because she feels like she's been deeply affected by what went down that night (even though she explained it in a way that made george seem like a reincarnation of adolf hitler) and the fact that she's surrounded by friends who hate who she once looked up to
and george, because he will lose thousands of fans to someone who made the situation a hundred times worse than it needed to be and this could've been, yet again, something that could've been solved privately. george had every reason to believe that he was cuddling with someone who was 21+, since she was wearing a wrist band thing with 21+ on it.
here is every lie that caiti said in her accusation:
.she was 'freshly 18' - no she wasn't, she was nearly 18 and a half, her bday is in january and she met george in june
. she claimed that george knew this at the time, but he didn't because she was wearing a 21+ wristband. how funny!
. she had to get up for the touching and yada yada to stop - no she didn't, she came back and sat next to him multiple times
. they forced her to drink - no, they (caiti and her friends) were already very drunk when they came to dream's hotel room. isn't that on them?
. they forced her and her friends to play a drinking game - no, they were the ones who asked to play that drinking game on the second night! again, how funny is that?
. she 'resorted to playing games on her phone so that she could disappear because she was uncomfortable' - no, she passed her phone around to everyone and let them play the game too. hahahahaha
. she didn't bring up half of the people there! god knows why. if you are trying to make an accusation l, you should include every detail and lots of evidence (which ik that she has provided now) and NOT lie. oops, guess she did all of that!
and poor george has to experience the wrath of twitter and the people who just blindly support the victim because he slipped his hand under her clothes - it was totally not as if she was cuddling with him for over an hour before that!
twitter is so fucked up it actually makes the situation hilarious.
they are mocking people who have actually suffered form SA because apparently a man putting his hand around a girl's waist is abuse, sexual assault, rape, molesting and 100 more words meaning 'sexual harasser'
now now, i'm not saying that i don't support caiti - i'm just saying that if she really felt this way, she could've said it in private? why ruin a whole creator's career because he put his hand around your waist and you are having second thoughts 8 months after? why why why?
maybe she felt like she would get the support and attention that shelby was getting? maybe it was her friends?
but whatever it is, it's just ridiculous. it could've been sorted out without cancelling him for something he didn't do.
if you don't agree with me, good for you. go and touch some grass.

I’m very conflicted at the Georgenotfound situation, you are very welcome to disagree with me on this matter, I’m not trying to downplay an issue in these allegations, im honestly just writing my opinions down. And if I get anything wrong or you have heard something about the allegations that I haven’t heard or haven’t been included in this post, please inform me.
I don’t think Catibugzz is being honest, I honestly the first time I heard about the allegations, knew it sounded a bit weirdly timed. I of course thought i was just overthinking it and I ignored my suspicions, first thing I wanna say is that she lied about her age, she said that she was freshly eighteen, She wasn’t freshly eighteen (im not sure but that’s what I have heard so please correct me if I’m wrong) she was eighteen and six months, her story also keeps changing. It went from George just touching her waist to him touching her tits. Also at first Cati also did say that George only touched her waist, which is now apparently not the case even as she said that herself. She also keeps saying she has evidence but we haven’t seen evidence, also consent doesn’t have to be words leaving your mouth (audible consent? I think that’s what it’s called lol) nodding as Cati did, is also considered consent. Please correct me if I misunderstood anything in this case and give me more info if there is something I got totally wrong
Please be respectful and calm if you leave a comment on this post any rude comments/messages will be deleted
Stay safe <3

oh no another opinion
im not really expecting anyone to read this but after thinking about it for so many days i just wanted to write everything down.
first off i want to start by saying that i believe caiti when she says she feels violated by what happened to her. her feelings are completely valid and it's disgusting that it came to a point where she gets to feel that way. but, with that said, i want to state a couple of things.
everyone in that room failed her. being 18 and exposed to grown adults and illegal drinking is a recipe for disaster. if you're bringing your 18 year old friend to a party with people considerably older than her and with alcohol involved i don't get why you would leave her unattended. or give her alcohol. or leave her alone in a room with strangers. and not only that, but refuse to take any blame for that and try to blame people that had no way of knowing (im talking about dream, in case that wasn't clear enough). you need to grow up and stop going live to talk about this as if it's your story to tell because by doing so you're digging yourself into a deeper hole and discrediting your friend's story because of all the inconsistencies. first you were too drunk to notice anything (even though you came with her and she's your best friend), but somehow still expected other people (who were also drunk and didn't even know her until that day) to notice how she was feeling. then you did notice, but decided to keep silent instead of defending your friend and taking care of her, even going as far as leaving her alone in that room when you noticed she was uncomfortable. you're a shit friend.
consent is a very tricky topic here, because i personally think different types of consent are cultural and depend on the type of crowd you're a part of in that specific moment. yes, verbal consent is very important, but to assume it always happens is delusional at best. maybe it's because i partake a lot in hookup culture (that is to say, i am not chronically online and leave my house and have normal human interactions in my day to day life). consent can be found in a lot of different things, like a hand to your shoulder, to a nod on your head, to a cuddle. it shouldn't be like that, but in mainstream culture that's just how things are. do i think that's okay? absolutely not. but just because i perceive it like that doesn't mean every single person does. my main issue with that in this specific situation is the power dynamics that play into it. if it were normal people i wouldn't really give it that importance but george being a really big and important creator really changes things. he holds some power over her, whether he realises that or not, and just because of that explicit consent should always be expected. now i don't think he's really aware of how this power dynamic works out for him (seeing as he spent most of his life stuck in his room, never really went out, got drunk or even interacted with other people apart from his close friend group until he moved to florida) and he's still navigating through it. i don't think he understands how someone may feel pressured to act fine around him or play into his games just because he is who he is. and now this brings me to my next topic.
george is not an assaulter. he's a dumbass boy who was drunk and needs to learn about boundaries and put himself in women's shoes for a minute to understand the shit we have to go through everyday. i don't think he did anything purposefully and wanted to take advantage of anyone. he touched a waist. that's it. i get that it can be uncomfortable for her and that he should've asked for explicit consent before doing that because he didn't knew her to just assume body language but that is not sexual assault. they were both drunk and he had no indication that what he was doing was bothering her. i can understand why he thought it was okay (laughing, smiling, getting up and sitting back next to him, deciding to stay even after her friends left) and i can also see how caiti could do this to avoid awkwardness. at the end of the day, it all was just a big misunderstanding. that's why you need to communicate when you're engaging with someone. you need to ask if they're feeling okay, but you also need to reassure that person that you're comfortable or like what's happening.
what really irked me about this is the rape rhetoric used by caiti in her statement. i don't want this to sound as victim blaming, because it's not, i just don't understand it. i've been thinking about this since i watched her stream and i need to get my thoughts down, so bear with me. when i first watched everything i thought he was touching her in private parts or straight up groping her, i even said so to my irl. i don't actually remember the actual words used, so forgive me if i say anything wrong, but i remember her saying things like feeling stuck in place and like she couldn't escape, feeling dirty months after it happened and not knowing how to make it stop. i don't know her or what she's been through to have such a strong reaction to what happened, but at the end of the day it was just your waist getting touched and you being uncomfortable. it's not okay. but you weren't raped, you weren't groped. telling things in a way that implies you were, i don't know if purposeful or not, is disgusting. by doing that you're diminishing the experiences of a lot of different people that have gone through so much worse things.
people projecting their trauma into this situation is why it became such a sensitive topic. your experience is not caiti's. don't pretend like you went through the same thing because you didn't. people think that just because they'd been SAd (i have been too! it's not important to the story though) they are more capable of forming opinions or treating this more critically are wrong. it's the opposite. you are not being rational about this and you are not being critical, you are being triggered and blowing things out of proportion. from the bottom of my heart, seek help, you need it.
ccs need to stop being so performative. as dream said, support victims because they deserve it, not because it's convenient. some of them are so scared to lose their platform they become so spineless it's actually scary. i'm not naming names, but i think that if someone reads this they'll know what i'm talking about.
this is a more direct "attack" (not attack, really, i just don't understand) but i'm still not going to name anyone. you can't say people need to stop being parasocial and just follow your lead in the same sentence. you're just saying stop being parasocial to these ccs but be parasocial to me instead and just do what i say because i actually know better. i don't understand why you're implying they're bad people and have always been when a week ago you were actively engaging with them and calling them your sibling. what am i supposed to take from that? why are you saying they're bad people now, when this came out, but were perfectly fine staying in their house weeks before this happened. if you know something, just say it. and i don't mean rumours, or things you've seen that are now taken out of context.
my final point, unless i came back to this later and have more to add, is that this could have been avoided if these people with platforms just learned how to communicate privately. dream asked months after that night if everything was fine, if something happened, and no one said anything. caiti continued talking to george (even if it was passive aggressive, or whatever she wants to call it) for months after it happened. isn't it better to just straight up telling him hey!! this happened!!! i didn't like it!!! or, if she wasn't ready to do it by then, just talk to him or one of his friends before going public with it. it's not a situation where he was made aware of the issue and continued being a cunt, he just had no idea of what was happening.
i wanna finish this by saying i don't hate them, i actually still like them (that can change as more information comes out). they need to grow as people and, for the love of god, go to therapy. but i don't think they're bad people or that this has to end their careers.
take care everyone

I wanna remind everyone who's focusing on underaged drinking surrounding the topic of abuse, that the drinking age in most countries is 18 & the US is 21 (so depending on where she was, it was legal) and that even if she was underaged drinking, she didn't do anything wrong.
She was 18 and doing what majority of people do at 18 - drinking with friends at a party. It's not an invitation for assault, it's not a "putting yourself in that position".
It's as simple as a man abusing his power & any adult who isn't an abuser or an assaulter wouldn't have done it.
Stop focusing on the underaged drinking and start focusing on the shitty abusive human being that still has a major platform who's about to do some PR control.

In light of the dsmp member allegations, I have some thoughts:
1) Whatever feelings you may have at this time, believe victims firstly. I know it can be hard when there’s so much coming out at once, but the only way we make things better for victims is by believing them and taking this all seriously. It’s unfortunate to hear these things about people you supported, but I do think power corrupts, and the way to combat that is accountability. These victims deserve peace and closure.
2) Personally, I rescind any and all support I ever gave to dsmp members. For the sake of transparency, the only members I’ve still been watching are Tommy, and I occasionally engage with Ranboo’s social media. Neither of them have done anything wrong, as far as we know, and no allegations have been made about them. However, this is not a public endorsement of them and if any such allegations are made about them, rest assured that I will stop watching them as well.
3) I have, for a long while now, been inactive on Twitter and have no plans of reengaging with it. I think the management overall there has rendered it unusable for anything other than unethical paid promos and ai bots. My mental health has improved immensely since distancing myself from it, even though I was never that active to begin with. I’m leaving my account up for the sake of friends I have made and content I want preserved, but this may change. As of now, my primary contact points outside of Twitch are gonna be here (Tumblr) and my Discord, only. Yes, it slows down what news I have access to, but I still encourage others to do the same.
This will likely be the last thing I say about dsmp. I have old posts on here about it that I don’t see the point in deleting because it was important to me at the time and good outlet. But, I wanted to make a statement explaining my current stance so there’s no misunderstanding. What it was was good, but it’s been long gone for a while now. I no longer have any desire to align myself with that community and these creators.

an important message:
hello everyone, this has been coming for a little while now but i wasn't really sure how to approach it.
i will no longer be writing for dream.
after everything that's happened with the allegations against him (which he has yet to properly address), and the qsmp/usmp drama that he's currently fanning the flames of, i can no longer support or defend him. i have decided it will be best to distance myself from him as a creator.
you obviously do not have to agree with me at all! but for me, i will no longer be supporting or keeping up with dream.
i'm so sorry if anybody is upset by this, please don't start fights with me in the comments over it, as they will just be deleted. i will not be arguing about it or changing my mind.
with all that being said, i will post the remaining drafts i have including him soon (since i already put in the time and effort of making them) but nothing further will be written. i will keep his works up on my masterlist, but will not be taking any more requests for him.
sorry again to anyone who is upset by this, feel free to unfollow if you want to.
much love, annabeth

if mcyt isn’t fiction then
people who create dnd characters that are similar to them in personality are just playing themselves and should not be treated as having made a character
people who make any other dnd character should also be treated as just playing themselves since people refuse to even consider roleplay smps as fiction
any ocs someone puts a bit of themselves into? nope not fiction!
actors who play a character with the same first name as them aren’t really acting
and so on
maybe YOU can’t separate characters and real people and think that everything you see from a youtuber even when they’re explicitly acting is how they are in real life but we as a fandom just don’t have that issue lol. we’ve had disclaimers and indicators for when we’re talking about characters and not content creators for years because a certain smp contained a character having suicidal thoughts as a result of abuse at the hands of another character and we needed to make it absolutely crystal clear that we were referring to a fictional storyline and not real guy #1 being an abuser and real guy #2 being suicidal. these customs have either extended into other corners of mcyt fandom, or some developed their own independently like hispanic mcyt fans have used the word cubito to distinguish mc guy from real life guy from years, a term that other language speakers liked so much we’ve also started picking it up lol
we know exactly what we’re doing. i get that the line maybe does seem more blurred to an outsider looking in (i wouldn’t know given that both my first fandom at age 12 and current fandom at age 20 were mcrp lol) but it’s universally understood amongst us. i don’t have a problem separating hermitcraft!gem and empires s1!gem the wizard with a twin brother and empires s2!gem the princess and cc!gem the real life canadian woman.
idk it rubs me the wrong way that after years of trying to explain this we’re either met with people calling us racists because of three guys that the rest of us (all of us, really, because dream team fans do not claim to be minecraft fans. those are the type to actually write rpf and ship the real life racist guys) hate probably a lot more than any of you do, or they watch a few minutes of a less roleplay-heavy series/part and decide that the entire medium is invalid as a form of storytelling
it’s so annoying. i don’t think we need to be understood to have validity as a fandom we’ve been doing this for years already without that but it is so infuriating and sad how whenever there’s some kind of fandom poll thing one of three things happens
mcyt fans are banned outright and placed on the same level as something like hp
an mcyt fan runs their own and gets harassed for it
a non-mcyt fan allows us in until they get harassed so badly by whatever fandoms we go up against that they end up deleting our bracket
in what world is that normal behaviour. and that harassment always involves calling them all racist cishet white men such as misgendering both eret (real life bisexual genderqueer person) and their character (also queer), attempting to harass jimmy solidarity fans because jimmy makes mc videos so he must be a dream associate (the only time they interacted was in a tournament during which dream and georgenotfound shittalked jimmy’s best friends to his face), all the shit quackity has gotten for being a former friend of the dream team as if he wasn’t the #1 victim of their racism and xenophobia, the fact that any time c!technoblade is involved in a poll we have to beg other fandoms not to talk shit about him because the real life man died of cancer before dream’s grooming allegations came out, similarly when tfc was in one. and so on and so forth. all because people can’t separate roleplay and real life and think that the entire minecraft sphere revolves around dream just because their idea of mcyt does (not even his own smp named after him did that).
