This exquisite trope about the fuck or die Monza curse by @cvrthage, @yekoc, @baking-soda and @veryspecificfantasies has bewitched me body and soul, particularly the "every year there are teammates secretly hoping it will be them (max, every single year with daniel. george with lewis) and teammates desperately hoping it won't (lewis with george)" bit, and I just couldn't resist. So here's a little George x Lewis drabble (angsty, beware).

George knows that Lewis knows he has a big fat crush on him. Everybody in this damned sport does, and George has never been cool enough to be different. The tacit agreement is that he tries to control himself and not be too much of a loser around Lewis, and Lewis pretends not to notice when he stutters or stares for a beat too long or praises him excessively in interviews. It’s a delicate balance, but they mostly make it work. Mostly.

Except there’s Monza. George is still not sure what exactly the Italians woke up when they dug the foundations of the track, but everybody knows it’s cursed, and will not hesitate to try to maim and kill if it’s not paid in lust. Every year, a teammate pairing on the grid gets chosen at random, and if they don't fuck, everybody suffers the consequences on track. Nobody has ever outright admitted to being chosen, but there’s always speculation and hushed whispers around the paddock about which team has had the misfortune during the weekend. The only real way of knowing whether the bargain has been fulfilled or not is to start the race and wait for the chain shunts to pile up. It’s never happened in all his hears in F1, even though there have been several driver pairings known to hate each other’s guts, so everyone must have been doing their part. If Magnussen and Hülkengerg have indeed fucked each other’s brains out for the greater good, it means, to George’s understanding, that everybody is in silent agreement that it’s just something to do for the safety of the whole grid, nevermind the rumours that Webber once refused point blank to fuck Sebastian. He has a poor opinion of him for it. A duty is a duty, is the way he sees it.

He entertained thoughts of being chosen and having Lewis fuck him exactly once, his first year at Mercedes. Then he realized he wanted it too much, and put the matter firmly out of his mind. The chances of it happening where nigh anyways. Albono had confided in him that Max had once told him at an after party that he hadn’t been chosen yet, despite being four years into his career at the time and “wanting it very much” with Daniel (George resolved then and there to steer clear of Max if there ever was vodka in their immediate vicinity, a promise he’s kept ever since); and George wasn’t even sure if he would last the year as Lewis’ teammate. There’s always a chance you’ll get demoted from a top team in F1.

He’s also not sure he’d enjoy it if they got picked anyways, regardless of his big fat crush, because it’s rotten to only have Lewis sleep with him because some evil supernatural entity is mashing them together like Barbie dolls, and not because he really wants to (but you could, whispers some pathetic part of him, you could let yourself enjoy it if it were to happen. He pretends he does not hear it.)

Mostly, he doesn’t think about it. It’s going on five years now since he stepped into Formula 1, and he’s somehow still in Mercedes, and they haven’t been chosen. There have been no horrific accidents in Monza. He makes the mistake of getting complacent.

And then Monza, in all its cruelty, picks them.

He senses something is off from the moment he wakes up on Friday, but he can’t quite pinpoint what it is. He is sweating more than normal, but he chalks it up to the warm Italian air. Until Toto grabs him by the scruff and drags him to his office.

Lewis is also in Toto’s office. His forehead is also beaded with sweat, and he looks vaguely ill. George puts two and two together, and his stomach drops.

“It’s us this year.” Confirms Toto. Lewis doesn’t say anything. Lewis doesn’t say anything for a really long time, until George can’t stand it anymore and blurts out. “Okay, well, let’s get it over with then. How do we go about it?”

Toto sighs. “We haven’t had to do this in a very long time, but the standard procedure means we have a room for you two-“

“We’re not doing it.” Interrupts Lewis. George’s jaw drops. The mean little voice in his head says see, he won’t touch you even when there’s inocent lives on the line. He’ll never want you back.

A muscle jumps in Toto’s jaw. “If you don’t do it it will fuck up the race, and if anything happens the FIA will investigate and I will be forced to tell them that it was us. We could get heavily sanctioned for putting other drivers at risk." You could be throwing your and our championship bids away, is what he’s really telling Lewis.

“I’m still not doing it.” Reiterates Lewis, his tone final. George gapes, trying to reconcile the man he idolizes with this stranger in front of him who would be willing to potentially throw other people’s lives away because he finds the idea of fucking George that repulsive.

“You’d put everybody at risk?” He can’t help but ask, sounding pathetically close to tears even to his own ears. He doesn’t want to know what his face is doing. 

Lewis’ only answer is an undecipherable look. In the end, he doesn’t. He gets Toto to leverage his considerable power and a technicality in the regulations surrounding the Monza situation to get the race cancelled. He breaks George’s heart and what little self-esteem he has all the same.

The Redbull Princess

YN YLN was a known name in the motor sport world. Not only was she the youngest driver currently on the grid - only 19 years - but she is the first female to ever drive for RedBull. Not oy that, but also the only woman on the grid.

Despite having a different gender, the other drivers never treated her bad. In fact, one could say that YN got the whole "Princess Treatment" from the drivers and teams. Each driver has taken a special place in her life.

Exhibit A: The protective one

The paddock was buzzing with energy, reporters swarming like bees near the Red Bull garage. YN was prepping for her media rounds, already feeling the weight of the spotlight on her. As she stepped into the press pen, a group of journalists immediately approached, firing off questions.

"YN, how do you feel about the pressure of being the youngest driver? Do you think it affects your performance?"

Before she could answer, Max appeared out of nowhere, slipping between her and the reporters with a grin that was anything but friendly. "I think that's enough for now," Max said, his blue eyes narrowing. "She’s got a race to focus on. Back off."

The reporters, visibly intimidated by the reigning World Champion, quickly shuffled away. YN let out a breath of relief, nudging Max with her elbow.

"You know, I can handle them."

Max chuckled, wrapping an arm around her shoulder, steering her away from the crowd. "Yeah, but why would I let them bother you when I can have fun scaring them off?"

"You're impossible," she laughed. "But thanks."

Exhibit B: The gossip King

YN walked into the Ferrari garage, still buzzing from practice. She found Charles leaning against his car, drinking water. His face lit up when he saw her.

"Charlie! Did you see that move I pulled in turn 9?" she said, excitedly plopping down next to him.

Charles grinned, instantly slipping into gossip mode. "I did! Smooth as butter. But did you hear about Fernando's radio message? He was furious about the tire degradation. Drama!"

YN's eyes widened. "No way! Spill all the tea, Leclerc."

Charles leaned in, whispering. "Apparently, his engineer told him to manage his tires better, and Nando snapped, saying, ‘I am managing them!’" He mimicked Fernando’s accent, making YN burst into laughter.

Exhibit C: The helping hand

The young RedBull driver just exited her car, when she felt someone grabbing her Birking Bag. When she quickly turned her head, she was meat with the sight of Carlos not only caring her bag in his hands and her coat on his arm, but carring his own stuff as well.

"Carlito, what are you doing? You don’t have to carry all my stuff for me." she told him, after they started walking towards the entrance.

Carlos mate an irritated sound, before responding to her. "Nonsense, hermana. Your job is to win this weekend. So let me help you with all the other things, comprende?"

Before Carlos could get an answer, she threw her arms around him, whispering a small thank you in his ear.

Exhibit D: The personal chef

YN sat in the Red Bull hospitality area, poking at her plate of food with a discontented look. Yuki walked over, noticing her lack of enthusiasm.

"Not good enough for you, huh?" Yuki teased, sliding into the seat across from her.

YN scrunched up her nose. "I don’t know what it is, but I just can’t eat this."

Without missing a beat, Yuki stood up. "I’ll make you something. What do you want?"

Her eyes brightened. "Yuki, really? You don’t have to!"

He waved a hand dismissively. "Nah, you’re picky. I know that. What do you want? Miso soup? Onigiri?"

YN tapped her chin thoughtfully. "Onigiri sounds perfect."

Within minutes, Yuki was back, placing a plate of freshly made onigiri in front of her. YN took a bite and sighed contentedly. "You're the best, Yuki."

He grinned. "I know."

Exhibit E: The "annoying" prankster

YN was busy trying to make sure her helmet and gear were ready when suddenly, her entire backpack fell off the counter with a loud thud, spilling everything.

"Lando!" she yelled, spinning around, catching the British driver grinning like a mischievous child.

"What?" Lando said, feigning innocence, hands up. "It slipped."

YN gave him a look but couldn’t help the smile creeping on her face. Lando always knew how to lift her spirits, even if it was through relentless pranks.

"One day, Norris, one day!" she warned, pointing a finger at him.

"I’ll be waiting," Lando chuckled, before helping her pick up her things

Exhibit F: The shoulder to cry on

"I just can't believe it. I was so close. How did I manage to bin the car into the wall on the last corner" muttered the 19 year old. Her face pressed in Oscars neck, who was busy stroking her hair. He knew better than to interrupt her during her rant. Knowing it would help her when she got everything of her chest.

After a moment, she shakily breathed out. Oscar knew that the only thing he could do now was to let her fall apart while he would catch every piece of her.

And that's what he did. While she cried her heart out, Oscar held her close to him, rocking them slowly in a soothing matter. It felt like nothing could happen to her in Oscars arms. He would protect her from the outside world as long as she needed

Sometimes actions speak louder than words

Exhabit G: The fashionista

Lewis stood beside YN, eyeing her racing suit critically before smirking. "That’s not gonna work."

"What do you mean?" she asked, confused.

He pointed at her boots. "Those shoes? No way. They don’t match the rest of the suit."

YN raised an eyebrow. "I'm not trying to walk the runway, Lewis. I’m racing."

Lewis rolled his eyes. "You can do both. Come on, let’s get you a new pair of shoes. You’ll thank me later."

And true to his words, YN received a new pair of racing shoes only a few hours later. They certainly looked better than her old pair.

Exhibit H: The mother-hen

George was hovering near the buffet in the paddock, watching YN closely as she piled food onto her plate. He narrowed his eyes as she bypassed the salad section.

"YN, you need to eat more greens. And have you had any water today?" George asked, his tone dangerously close to motherly.

YN groaned. "George, I’m fine. I had water this morning."

"That’s not enough," he replied sternly, filling a glass and handing it to her. "Drink. Now."

She pouted but took the glass. "Okay, Mom."

Exhibit I: The proud dad

During a press conference, Christian Horner stood beside YN, smiling at the reporters. "You all know my daughter here is the star of the show," he said, gesturing towards YN.

YN blushed at the comment. "Christian!"

The reporters laughed, but YN knew Christian wasn’t entirely joking. He had taken her under his wing from day one, treating her like family. And she couldn’t have been more grateful.

Exhibit J: Bwoah

In a rare quiet moment, YN had somehow convinced Kimi Räikkönen — the Iceman himself — to do a TikTok trend with her. As the camera rolled, Kimi deadpanned his way through the trend, barely moving but somehow nailing it.

"Thanks for doing this, Kimi," YN said, grinning as they finished.

Kimi shrugged. "Bwoah, don’t mention it, kid. But don’t tell the other drivers that you are my favourite"

YN laughed. "Deal."

Boy is half excited and half nervous. He's already dreading the moment, imagining all the possible scenarios in his head. What is he supposed to do? Stay on the side of your bed? Wrap his arms around you? Tangle his legs with yours? He's beyond stressed, and the very idea that you don't feel comfortable makes him panic even more. But the relief he felt when you just snuggled up to him. It was just... natural. His arms naturally wrapped around you as he gently stroked your hair, your head on his chest. He was soothed, and couldn't hold back a slight smile, feeling his body warm up, feeling his heart overflowing with love.

He plays it cool, confident, but inside he can't deny the fact that he's slightly panicking. Since the very day he met you, being head over heels for you, he has imagined this scenario hundreds of times. Obviously, he dreamed of finally sleeping with you, feeling your body fit perfectly with his and just being able to cuddle you all night. So when the day finally arrives, he tries to act as he imagined in his head. Both lying on the bed, he didn't wait a single second before pulling you against him, holding you tightly so that you couldn't escape. His cheeks are probably very pink, but it's adorable, just like the way you fell asleep. In each other's arms.

He comes out of your bathroom after changing into his pajamas, and ends up finding you already ready for sleep, lying in your bed, which is now getting ready to be shared with your boyfriend. This is the first time you're going to sleep together. This information seems to paralyze Charles, who remains planted against the doorframe, not knowing if he should come join you now. You giggle weakly, seeing him completely lost and... a little embarrassed. When he sees you open your arms to encourage him to come join you, he is already nestling his head in the crook of your neck the next second, his arms around your waist. Oh and, no need to add that it was the best night of his life.

You are already lying in bed, side by side. It must have been a good 5 minutes since you moved, not really knowing what to do. You would love to snuggle up against him, but maybe that's too much for a first night together? That's definitely not what Carlos thinks, who noticed that you were, well... not comfortable in your own bed. He slowly turns towards you, smiling softly at you, as if you were the most beautiful wonder in the world, before pressing your head against his chest, with a gentle gesture. Your body presses against him naturally, as he begins to caress your back lightly. He places a quick kiss on your hair, wishing you both a good night.

His heart melts just at the thought of finally being able to sleep with you. To be honest, you were looking forward to this moment, and he too could only think about that. He can't help but think about it every second, until your bodies are finally inches apart, under the warm duvet. Lewis can't wait any longer, sleep already overtaking him. Just your simple presence soothes him. Then, it is in a peaceful silence that your bodies finally touch each other, seeking each other's affection. You quietly close your eyes, relaxed, as he inhales your scent, already feeling himself slipping away into dreams. Best night ever, for sure.

The bed is all ready, the sheets are clean and the duvet freshly laundered. You burrow under the covers first, smiling softly at your boyfriend, who in turn slips under the duvet. You are neither too close nor too far, a reasonable distance but your faces close. Enough that you felt the heat coming from each other's bodies.
