watching classic trek again and i forgot how unhinged scotty is. like sure heâs emotional in general but i cannot possibly overstate how little impulse control he has when an all powerful alien entity Looks Wrong at a female crewmate. scotty will throw his entire body at the problem with no plan and no hesitation. higher brain function completely bypassed. doesnât matter that thereâs zero chance a physical attack will work, or that kirk is ordering him to stand down, or that the alien of the week ALREADY wrecked him with a range attack earlier in the episode when scotty did the exact same thing.
chivalry isnât dead in the 23rd century but it WILL be because scotty will get his dumb ass killed by an all powerful alien robotâand then!! four seconds after he comes back to life!! he tries to lunge at nomad AGAIN and the others have to physically restrain him. i love him. i love this show.
#classic trek#genuinely when i think of scotty the first impression that comes to me is him in Acting Captain mode#which is the most cool and collected he ever is so iâm going to have to revise my default profile photo of him in my head#montgomery scott#star trek

- âDoes everybody know about this wheat but me?â Kirk is so damn lost
- âIs it alive? Can I hold it?â Uhura that looks like one of those keychain Pom poms. I wanna hold one too.
- âIs that an offer or a joke.â âItâs my offer.â âItâs a joke.â I kinda like whatever these two got going on
- Kirkâs greatest enemy⊠quadrotriticale

- Scottyâs so happy about catching up on his technical journals
- McCoy and Spockâs fight in the science room. They only call each other sir when theyâre fighting

- Kirk got whoopee cushioned by a tribble
- Imagine your chief medical officer is that pretty and youâre normal about it (heâs not normal about it but just imagine)

- MCCOY SAYS âBISEXUALâ
- Kirk, Spock, and Uhura are so miserable while McCoy has just a single tribble as a fidget toy

- âIn my opinion you have taken this entire very important project far too lightly.â âOn the contrary, sirâ I think this project is very important. It is you I take lightly.â KIRK ON THAT BITCH SHIT
- Kirk: Cyrano Jonesâ a Klingon agent? *laughs*
Baris: You heard me.
Kirk: I heard you.
Spock: He simply could not believe his ears.
- âYou canât deny heâs distrusted this station!â You cannot deny these nuts!
- Kirk says âAu Revoirâ
- Kirk has accepted his tribble fate. Him rising out of the pile. Someone got to just throw tribbles at Kirk
- McCoy comes in with a miraculous solution and then leaves to find another.
- âMr.Baris, they like you. Well thereâs no accounting for taste.â
- McCoyâs explaining the grain was poisoned. McCoy sounds more southern when happy.
- Itâs not a passing around of admiration, theyâre passing around blame lol. They did something bad

- whispering âyou gave them to the klingons?â Oh my goddd
- I love everyone laughing and Spock just making this face
Genuinely loved this episode and was laughing throughout it. I am susceptible to tribbles.

Game Night
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Female!Reader Word Count: 2.2k T/W: fluff A/N: Part 2 of Bingo â a few months later
I am SO SORRY this took me way longer to post than it should have!
Bucky Tag List: @anreeixcobra â€ïž @tsnelf7 â€ïž @fandom-princess-forevermoreâ
It was Friday night, which meant one thing: Game Night. Ever since Yori introduced you at Bingo, you made it a tradition in your relationship to play board games on Fridays. For the most part you kept it to fairly modern games, but tonight was going to be a surprise.
Tonight it was your place, 8 oâclock. Bucky showed up with a six pack of root-beer in glass bottles. You added a few to the fridge as he found his usual seat at your apartment table. He waited for you to round the small apartmentâs bar and join him. Sliding the glass bottles across the table to Bucky, you smiled, biting in your bottom lip, as he slid your bottle back, now without its top.
Easily he popped the top off his own bottle with his left hand; it was as he was about to take a sip that he caught sight of your look, âwhat?â he furrowed his eyebrows, questionably.Â
âSo. . . tonight,â you tried not to giggle.
âWhat?â Bucky asked again, this time finding himself following your smile despite his will not to.
âTonight is going to be special,â you clasped your hands together, âbecause I found some stuff thatâs as old as you.â
âWow, thanks,â Bucky said sarcastically, taking a sip, shaking his head, blinking softly as he saw you rush to convince him it would be fun. Sighing deeply, he gave in, âalright, what is it?â
âIâll be right back,â you twirled on your heel and left the room.
Returning to shaking his head and the glass bottle, he paused after settling the bottle on the table. Itâd been a long time since anyone cared about anything actually as old as him. Heâd been pretty good at keeping up with the times, a lot of things he knew just got an upgrade, but the thought of something from his actual childhood felt a little heartwarming.Â
âOkay,â you declared, reentering the room with a stack of vintage boxes in your arms that made Bucky lean back in his chair out of shock, âhere we are.âÂ
His jaw dropped a little at what you had brought out as you set the stack on the table. Watching you take a deep breath and exhale with a smirk, he shook his head, this time silently asking âhow?â You set your hands atop the stack, rapping your fingers across the top box as you smiled again.Â
Smoothing your hands out across the box top, you cleared your throat, âno peeking,â bringing Buckyâs attention entirely to you.Â
âOption number one,â you held up the rectangular shape with severely faded letters across it, âScrabble, released 1938.â The box very gently met the table, âoption number two,â you looked at him attempting not to giggle as you saw him cross his arms over his chest, genuinely listening to you intently, âSorry! released 1934, Battleship, original pen and paper game,â you clarified, he lifted his eyebrows, impressed, âand last but not least, Monopoly, released 1935.â
âWow, you uh- you really did your research,â he commented, looking over the stack of authentically vintage boxes.
âOf course,â you shrugged with a smile, âmy boyfriendâs 106, if I want to bring back some childhood nostalgia, that requires some research. . . and late hour ebay bidding in our case.â Â
He nodded, a faint smile showing, before it faded with his next words, âI hope you didnât do too much research on me,â he looked up, hand resting on Monopoly.
You calmly slid down into the seat across from him and stared with a kind smile still on your lips, reaching to touch his hand, you stroked your thumb against his knuckles, âIâm more of a first hand account, direct source, kind of girl when it comes to people,â the corner of his mouth tugged into a smile.Â
You knew, just not everything, and he wasnât sure he was prepared to have another living soul know it all quite yet. Luckily, you were someone who seemed to actually understand that.
âOr,â you announced, lifting a pointer finger, as if requesting a pause whilst you went to a nearby drawer, returning with a much smaller box, âwe can get really really old school, even for youâ the box met the table top, âstandard 52 card deck, English edition, circa 1516. . .obviously not original.â
Bucky chuckled, looking to you, tonguing his cheek, before picking up the cards, âI hate to tell you, but thatâs just a little before my time,â he squinted at you, teasingly.
Biting your lip, your shoulders shifted with the giggle that came after his comment, âso, come on,â you sat back down, this time with your elbows on the table and hands laced, to support your resting chin on top of them, âwhat should I beat your butt in?â
âOh,â Bucky, attempting to appear insulted, began raising his eyebrows, âyou think?â
âYeah,â you laughed your words while looking at his serious face, âI think, better yet, I know.â
âWell, I donât know where you get your confidence from. You know you are talking to a local senior Bingo night champion,â he shrugged with a head tilt, as if that was supposed to be a big deal.
âWoooow,â you drew out, smiling uncontrollably.
âBut,â he sighed, âokay,â he shook his head once, accepting your challenge, âletâs go, youâre on! Monopoly,â he brought the box towards himself as you set the others on the floor next to your chair.
You watched as he picked up the little metal pieces, examining each one individually. There was an expression youâd never seen before, he was remembering something positive from his past. A memory that sparked a smile that you helped bring about. He surveyed the board, with all its bright colours and familiar street names.
âItâs been-â he paused, looking upward, doing the math in his head, âitâs been 85 years since I played this game,â setting each piece he stopped at the boat, laughing to himself, âyou know, Steve used to always be the battleship.âÂ
A soft smile came across your lips, while you watched him remember exactly how to set it up. You picked the Scottie dog and he picked the vintage race car piece.
âWere you always the race car?â you ventured, wanting to know more about his childhood, you knew he didnât talk about it often.
âOh,â he glanced to the piece he had just naturally picked up without a thought, âyeah, well, I think,â he gave a quick, but somber smile, before clearing his throat, and actually looking up, âand my sister, whenever sheâd actually manage to get mom and dad to let her stay up with us, sheâd always be the thimble,â he leaned back in his chair, smiling, âwhenever it was her turn to move sheâd put it on her finger and hop it down the street names.â He leaned back to the table, âwe never made her go to jail, even if she landed on it, Steve would make up some rule that let her skip it.âÂ
âThatâs really sweet of you guys,â you said, looking softly at his smile.
âYeah,â he swallowed, âbut donât think you can skip jail,â he changed his tone, preferring not to dwell on the past even if it was positive.Â
âDonât think Iâll be visiting,â you smirk confidently, âbetter watch out for the money man yourself.âÂ
âWow, who is this?â he dropped his jaw, âsheâs so sarcastic, does Yori know this side of you? Do you sneak jellybeans under the table or something evil like that?â
Laughing, you took your root-beer, âjust give me my $1,500 so the smack down can actually begin.â
Two hours later, after a long battle between Boardwalk, control over the railroads, and many, many visits to jail, you sat back, lips quirked, arms across your chest as your little Scottie sat in jail.
âAnd three thousand, six hundred, and five. . . Iâm sorry, but that leaves you,â Bucky set his elbows on the table, wincing at you, âbankrupt.â
âFine,â you huffed jokingly, giving your best pout,âyou win.â
âAww, câmon,â Bucky reached out a hand to touch your forearm comfortingly, accompanied by a smile you couldnât deny.
âYou wanna go again?â You offered seriously, resting your hand on top of his tenderly, happy to see him so happy.
âIt was really fun, but letâs play something else, this time you pick,â he offered.
Breaking into a smile, you gave a nod, and he asked what you had in mind. It took a moment, you wanted to make this good, and you wanted to see it be a little more of a struggle for him, if you were honest.Â
âYou know, I know itâs later than your. . .original timeline, but thereâs this fantastic game called Twister,â you smirked, perking an eyebrow to ask if he was up for it.Â
âTwister?â He repeated you, tilting his head like a confused puppy, âwhatâs Twister?â
âIâll show you, but,â you glanced over to your small apartment living room, âwe might need to arrange the furniture a little.â
âDonât worry,â Bucky stood, âI can handle that.âÂ
Smiling, you stand, âokay, just push it all to one side, Iâll get the game.âÂ
Ten minutes later, shoeless, you both stood looking over the polka dotted sheet on the floor. Nodding happily to yourself, Bucky shook his head almost in fear.Â
âMake sense?â You asked, having just explained the very simple rules, you turned to face him.
âOh, Iâm sorry I asked,â he sighed, shouldering off his jacket and tossing it onto the couch along with his glove, âyeah, it makes sense,â he set his hands on his hips, pondering this new game intently.Â
âOkay, you first,â you held up the spinning arrow, and began.
One hand and foot at a time, sometimes struggling to reach the spinner, but you both made it work pretty well. Having kept to one side of the sheet, it came time to get a smidge more twisted.
Bucky managed to keep balanced and spin a green dot with his left arm, conveniently it placed him right over you. As he began to reach for green, he carefully calculated how best to approach the green dot in order to keep his balance. It was a pretty far reach and heâd need to balance himself whilst reaching over you.Â
âWhatâs the matter old man, canât quite move like you used to?â you shamelessly giggled.Â
Raising his eyebrows at your tone, âohhh, wow,â Bucky said sincerely, finally placing his left arm over you and to a green dot, now above you he tilted his head sassily, ârespect your elders.â
His last sentence only made your giggle turn into a genuine laugh. You closed your eyes and threw your head back a little. Admittedly, Bucky thought it was funny too, but he didnât laugh, he just took in your smile and the sound of your laugh, enjoying every single moment of it.
When you brought your head back up, you were about to respond sassily, but instead you found his lips meeting yours. With a small squeak of surprise, you relaxed into the kiss, glad that he was finally confident enough with you to take a chance now and then. He tasted like vanilla root beer, which mixed wonderfully with the scent of his cologne you were finally close enough to smell.Â
It was soft and slow at first, but slowly, with his right hand palming the arch of your back, you eased into his touch, lower back almost meeting the floor as you both sunk down a little. You completely forgot about the game, as you reached your arms around his neck gently. Keeping the kiss close, you felt him hesitate to deepen it, so you gave him a small sign of encouragement, by moving your hand to the side of his neck, naturally bringing him even closer.Â
You had no idea how long youâd been there, on that polka dot sheet, but it was such bliss that you didnât even care. Smiling into the kiss, you felt him smile back.Â
Parting, he pressed his forehead to yours, âI win,â he whispered, lips in a smile.Â
âWhat?â was all you could ask, still mesmerised by the kiss.Â
Bucky motioned his head to his left arm which happened to have been keeping the two of you steady. . . all the while remaining on the green dot. You dropped your arms from around his neck, to the floor, elbows supporting you as you looked up at him, shaking your head.Â
âThat does not count, Bucky,â you tried not to smile as he kept his arm as still as possible.
âWhat? But my handâs still on green,â he dramatically gestured to it, making you bite your lip to repress a giggle, trying to match his seriousness.
Shoving his chest directly above you, he feigned an âow!â before you softly pull him closer again.
âIf I kiss you are you gonna hit me again?â
You smirk, âI might if you donât.âÂ
Bucky smiled, lips almost touching yours, âalright, sorry,â he smiled, voice almost a whisper as his lips brushed against yours, âIâm still learning the rules to this game.â

Master list
It was that time of year again. The most stressful, crazed, chaotically wonderful time of the year. Of course, it was the annual McCall pack Christmas party.
The one occasion in which there was absolutely no getting out of, whether you were in Beacon Hills or not. The only day of the year where every single member of the pack would get to see each other all at the same time.
Since graduating from High School youâd all gone your separate ways, living your own lives and fulfilling your respective destinies.
Since youâd seen your beloved pack last, youâd been contently living a quiet life in a small town in England. It was pretty sweet, you lived in a spacey cottage and worked in a very quaint bakery. It was safe to say that being a werewolf in a tiny cottagecore village was a lot easier, and entirely less stressful, than being a werewolf in Beacon Hills.
But, as they all say; home is where the heart is.
Because you lived across the world, the Christmas party was the only chance you got to see the majority of your dearest friends, so you always kept the date.
Every year without fail since the pack had formed, December 23rd, Christmas eve eve, was strictly reserved for festive supernatural celebrations.
It had been a long day of airport lines, connecting flights and luggage collections but you were finally sitting in a cab on your way to Derek Haleâs loft.
There was always the unspoken dress code of âway fancier than you need to beâ at these parties, it was a code that yourself and Lydia in particular took very seriously. Even if that meant slipping into a little black dress, your favourite pair of heels, applying a full face of makeup and doing your hair in an airport bathroom.
Which for you, was the reality. But regardless, you looked hot as hell.
The cab driverâs sleavy glances at you through the rear view mirror only confirmed the fact.
âChristmas party?â The middle aged man asked, looking at you more intently than the road.
âMhm.â You replied, faking a sincere smile.
He let out a low whistle from between his thin chapped lips and rose an ungroomed eyebrow, âSomeone there youâre trying to impress?â
Now that was the golden question. With a forced chuckle you brought your gaze to rest on the crescent moon glowly in the black sky.
There was someone there that you wanted to impress, as a matter of fact.
It was one of those fickle things. A will-they-wonât-they of epic proportions and it had been going on since junior year of high school. Sure, everyone loves a slow burn, Stiles and Lydia are a perfect example of this.
However, your fire seemed to be taking its sweet time catching alight.
Shaking the thoughts away you let out an exhausted sigh, âUnfortunately, yeah. There is someone Iâm trying to impress.â
The cab driver let out a chuckle, âIf ya ask me, if however it is doesnât have to pick their jaw up off of the floor after seeing you they are a fool.â He told you, not trying to hide the looks of approval he was giving the neckline of your dress very obviously.
You couldnât stop the booming laugh that left your painted lips at his statement, he was such a creep but he was definitely onto something.
âWho knows maybe this will be the year.â You said through a laugh. The driver nodded his head and then exclaimed cockily as he, thankfully, pulled up to Derekâs complex, âYeah, and if not, you know where to find me.â
Trying your very best to contain your laughter at the man before you, you wordlessly got out of the car, grabbing your suitcase, which was full of presents, from the trunk.
âMerry Christmas, beautiful!â He called jovially through the passenger side window, you looked over your shoulder and gave him your best fake smile, âYou too.â
As you began towards the building's entrance you lowered your tone, muttering a quiet, âCreep.â Under your breath.
The sound of suitcase wheels dragging against the concrete pavement echoed through an empty lobby area as you made your way to the rickety old elevator, trust Derek to buy the entire building but choose the loft on the top floor.
A bell sounded when the elevator finally arrived, you stepped inside and waited patiently for the contraption to carry you to the top floor.
When it arrived you could hear Christmas music booming from behind the huge sliding metal door that separated the loft from the hallway, there was a lot of excited chatter inside the loft so you assumed you were the last to arrive. Fashionably late.
Just as you were about to pull the door open, you paused and pulled out your phone, opening the camera and giving yourself one last look over. The status hadnât changed since the airport, you still looked hot as hell.
Disregarding the anxious butterflies fluttering around your stomach, you took a deep intake of breath and plastered a genuine smile on your red lips and opened the door.
âHello my darlings!â You made your presence known with an over the top false British accent as the pack turned to see who had just arrived. The second their eyes landed on you the whole room exploded with excitement.
Lydia squealed in delight, rushing up to you and pulling you into a tight hug. Your arms wrapped around her tightly and your smile widened when she began swaying you excitedly in her arms before pulling away. The strawberry blonde held you at arm's length, her eyes scanning you from head to toe then fixing you with a knowing smirk.
âCute dress. Who is that little number for?â She teased menacingly, raising an eyebrow as if she didnât already know the answer.
Youâd missed her little games, but that didnât mean youâd forgotten how to play along since youâd seen her last. You put your hand over your heart and looked at her dreamily, your horrible imitation of a British accent returning, âWhy itâs all for you my love.â
It was then that Stiles broke the two of you apart saying, âY/n, youâre my best friend and we share a lot of things but Iâm afraid my girlfriend is not one of them.â
With a disappointed sigh, you shot your best girl friend a wink, âForbidden love.â
âShut up and gimme a hug already, God.â Stiles said in an exasperated tone, but the huge grin on his face betrayed his voice as he wrapped his lanky arms around you.
âHey Sty.â You giggled, reciprocating his hug. When he pulled away you noticed the rest of the pack were now crowding around you at the door.
Scott stood like an excited puppy waiting to get to you and the second you laid eyes on him you felt excitement burst within you.
With a huge smile on your face you threw your arms around his shoulders, squealing happily as the alpha lifted and spun you around in his hold. It felt so good to be with wolves again, you already felt stronger.
âIâve missed you!â You told him, your feet pressed back on the ground. Scottâs smile was so bright as he exclaimed, âYou too! Youâre the only one I havenât seen since last year! How are you? Are you doing okay on your own? Howâs England?â He fired out in the brotherly way he usually did, you couldnât help the fond smile on your face as you patted his cheek reassuringly, âDonât worry, Scotty. Iâm all good.â
The next few minutes were spent hugging and catching up with the others, Malia, Derek and Peter had welcomed you home in the doorway with hugs.
âWhere are the puppies?â You asked, referring to Liam and Mason.
âKitchen. Liam is trying to find something thatâll make us all drunk.â Malia told you, looking at your suitcase with expectancy.
You motioned towards the case by your side with a knowing grin, âOk, Iâll go get those two. Your names are on the presents that are for you.â
âYes!â Malia cheered, pecking your cheek quickly then almost sprinting to the case.
When you got to the doorway of the kitchen you leaned against the frame, watching as Liam chugged a bottle of vodka, trying to get some kind of buzz from the liquid while Mason watched in awe, âI donât see you for a year and suddenly youâre a frat boy.â You sighed out.
Liam stopped in his tracks and looked towards you, âOh hey, Y/nâ He greeted you with an adorable smile and Mason gave you a small nod of greeting and you nodded your head towards the living area where the others were exchanging gifts.
âThereâs presents for you guys if you wanna go get them.â You informed them, smiling as they all but ran past you towards the gifts.
The kitchen was empty now, save for you and a half full bottle of smirnoff. Tiredly you made your way to the wooden counter opposite the door and sat yourself up on it.
As you swung your legs gently in the air, you took a moment to close your eyes and enjoy the moment to yourself.
The moment ended with a gentle knock on the doorframe, and when you opened your eyes, there he was.
Standing in front of you, in the flesh and all of his glory was Isaac Lahey. âYou mind if I join you?â He asked softly, you gave him a smile and beckoned him over.
ââCourse not. Come in.â He smiled in return and casually made his way over to you, he hoisted himself up beside you on the countertop.
âI didnât realise you were here yet.â You told him, eyes studying his face, he hadnât aged a day since the first day you met him.
Even now, years later, he still maintained that youthful lost boy aura. The sparkle in his eyes never dimmed either.
Isaac turned his head to face you, a warm smile decorating his lips as he did so, âSorry I missed your entrance, I had to change. I came straight from the airport.â
You nodded in understanding, âMe too. Changed in the airport bathroom though.â
He chuckled at that, you didnât miss the way his eyes traveled across your body or how they lingered on the hem of your dress that had ridden up ever so slightly when youâd hopped on the counter.
When he caught himself staring he cleared his throat and looked away, when he was met with the look of knowing on your face his own erupted in a blush.
âYou lookâŠâ He started but trailed off.
âIncredible? Amazing? Stunningly gorgeous? Come on, Isaac. Help me out here.â You teased, bumping your shoulder against his.
âAll of the above.â He answered, equally as cheekily, he knee pressing against yours as he pulled something out of his back pocket.
It was a narrow rectangular envelope, he fiddled with it nervously before holding it in your direction, âI got you a present.â
You took it from him gently, âYou didnât have to-â
âI wanted to. Open it.â He urged, blue eyes glued to you as your fingers pried the envelope seal open.
As you pulled the contents of the envelope you looked to Isaac in confusion. It was a flight ticket to Paris for New Years eve.
âA plane ticket?â
Isaac nodded, blush returning to his face, âYeah, I know youâve always wanted to go and thereâs the completely unrelated reason that I have an apartment in the city and would really love to spend new yearâs with you.â He rambled on nervously and you smiled up at him.
âSo youâre essentially asking me to come for a slumber party?â You grinned, giggling when he rolled his gleaming eyes at you. âIâm kidding. Iâd love to come to Paris with you.â You told him, taking his hand in yours to stop it from fidgeting.
Isaac squeezed your hand in response, a happy smile on his face, âItâd also be a really great opportunity for me to finally admit that Iâm in love with you.â
There was that fire youâd been talking about, after way too many years, it was finally lighting up.
âGood. That would give me a chance to tell you that I love you too.â You played along, biting back a shit eating grin as his face moved closer to yours.
You could hear Lydia behind the door, hushing the others as they all screamed along to âAll I Want For Christmas Is Youâ.
âSheâs been standing out there listening since I came in.â Isaac whispered and you only responded by sliding your hands up his shoulders.
Absentmindedly, Isaacâs arms wrapped around your waist as you continued to lean in closer, whispering, âThen letâs stop talking.â
Isaacâs eyes widened at that and he swooped his lips the rest of the distance to yours, murmuring, âGod, I love that plan.â
His lips clung to yours while your hands moved to his hair. It had been a long time coming. After all the almosts and could haves, his lips were finally on yours.
The kiss was broken when you couldnât hold your smile back any longer, Isaacâs lips were now tinted red from your lipstick but they were formed in a breathtaking smile.
âI think we should stop talking more. Like a lot more.â
*
âThey kissed!â Lydia whisper shouted to the rest of the pack, who were pretending not to listen to the conversation happening in the kitchen.
Scott let out a celebratory âWhoop!â As did Malia and Mason.
âAnd! Sheâs going to spend New Yearâs with him in Paris!â Scott clapped his hands together then, holding his hand out to Stiles, âCalled it. Hand it over.â
Stiles grumbled, necking the rest of his drink before fishing a twenty out of his pocket and shoving it in Scottâs hand.

âAll Iâm saying is that it doesnât make sense that sheâs the only one standing, singing to Troy about scoring a basket. Like what if someone showed up to the game late and didnât get the memo to twist the signs around and stay seated, you know? And itâs not just Gabriella standing up,â you said, grabbing multiple outfits to choose from for the movie night that you had been invited to.Â
âWell, I donât think that it was really an âok, everybody. One person is going to be staying up, but everybody else stay seated and lift your signâ sorta thing. I feel like it was just a heat of the moment thing,â Joel replied as he walked out of the bathroom.Â
âYeah, but it still doesnât make sense. And Iâm curious to know if that mid-game duet actually motivated Troy or if he was just annoyed or something.â
âIf you sang to me mid-game, I would honestly probably throw a stick at you. Out of love, obviously.âÂ
âThatâs sweet of you, not really, but Iâll take it,â you said, turning towards Joel, âI donât know what to wear to movie night.â
âItâs not really like you have to try to impress anyone, itâs just movie night,â Joel said, as he scrolled on his phone, âbut you look hot in anything, so Iâm chilling.â
âYouâre definitely just saying that,â you said, rolling your eyes.
âYeah, youâre right. You in the mornings is kinda concerning, not your best look,â he said, pointedly.
âThat was not an opportunity for you to say something like that, I will throw a chair at you.âÂ
âThatâs concerning, but well deserved. Iâm sure it would be out of the kindness of your heart, so I respect it.â
âYou better respect it, Farabee.â
âOooh, the last name. Iâm shaking in my boots,â he said to which you immediately shot a glare his way, âactually, youâre very hot when youâre mad, not gonna lie.â
âBetter watch yourself, Beezer, youâre on thin ice,â you said, jokingly.
âGood thing I know how to skate, babe,â he retorted, making his way towards you.Â
âYouâre annoying,â you huffed as Joel wrapped his arms around you in a bear hug, âBee, you better stop.â He lightly pecked the top of your head before stepping back, âwait, what was that?â
âWhat? The hug or me kissing the top of your head?â
âBoth?â
âItâs called a display of affection. I know you arenât familiar since you show your love by threatening to throw chairs at the people you care about, but thatâs what that was.âÂ
âOh, it was nice,â you said, which caused Joel to chuckle.
âGod, I love you,â he paused for a moment, clearly contemplating something, âthis is kinda random, but have you ever thought about posting about our relationship? Or is that a no in the gymnastics world?â
âI mean, yeah, I have thought about it. I just havenât because I didnât know how you felt, but if you want to post it you can.â
âWhy donât you post it first?â
âWhy donât you? You brought it up?â you questioned.Â
âYou confuse me so much sometimes and Iâm usually confused, so it makes it kinda worse,â he said honestly.
âHow about whenever we get back here tonight, we post at the same time?â you offered.
âSounds okay with me. Come on, we have to go if we want to make it on time,â he said, softly.Â
âŠ..
âHey, itâs Short Stack and Beezer,â Travis said, as he opened his front door.
âI still donât know why you of all people call me Short Stack, Tiki Bar,â you said to which he simply shrugged before opening the door more to let the two of you in.Â
âOoh, Short Stack, Karly has something for you. I think she went upstairs,â you sent a confused look to Travis, âitâs nothing bad, just go.â You rolled your eyes as you made your way up the steps.
âKarly?â you called as you walked closer to her and Travisâ room.
âIâm in here,â she called. As you walked into her room, you quickly noticed her shuffling through the things in her closet, pulling out a box that had clearly been wrapped in a hurry.Â
âWhatâs that?â
âJust open it, I hope you like it,â she rushed.Â
âUm, alright,â you tore off the wrapping paper and opened the box to reveal what looked like a regular denim jacket, âa denim jacket?â you said, earning an eye roll from her.Â
âTake it out of the box, Sunshine.â You picked up the corners of the jacket to see that there were multiple patches with the flyers logo and bees on the sleeves, turning it around to see a number 86 and Farabee on the back.
âKarly, wha-â
âLook, I know you and him havenât announced it officially yet or anything like that, but I figured that you would like it. I even got the bees on there for obvious reasons. I wouldnât be upset if you didnât wear it out, but you needed one,â she said, gently.
âI- Wow, I love it, Karly. Thank you,â you said, giving her a quick hug.Â
âYou should wear it downstairs or at least show him at some point.â
âOh no, I was just going to keep it in a bag in my closet for a while until he inevitably finds it,â you said, sarcastically.
âNo need for the sass, Sunshine. You should try it on though, I want to see what it looks like,â she suggested, her smile only growing as she saw that it looked amazing on you, âoh yes, the bee patches really add to it. Definitely a great choice on my part.â
âAlways the humble one. Come on, we have to start the movies eventually.â
âWait, youâre wearing it downstairs?â she asked, to which you simply nodded as you walked ahead of her down the stairs.Â
Travis was the first to notice your arrival downstairs as he talked to Joel, smiling as he saw that you were wearing the jacket that his girlfriend had stressed over for days, âhey, y/n, Iâm really liking this new look.â
âHey man,â Joel started as he had his back turned towards you, quickly turning around after hearing that you arrived downstairs, âwatch yours-â He immediately recognized that similar jacket that many of his teammates significant other wore to games, a perfect sign showing off their boyfriend or husband. âWait, hold up.â
âYes,â you answered, already knowing what he was going to ask.
âSwag,â he answered simply as he walked closer to you to examine the jacket. âAre those bees? Why are there bees?â
âHmm, no idea. Theyâre just randomly there,â you retorted.Â
âBeezer, did you get knocked in the head at practice or something? Iâm very concerned, dude,â Nicole asked from beside Nolan.Â
âWhy are there bees? I donât understand,â he asked, frantically.
âHeâs hopeless,â Nolan whispered to Nicole.
âBee, did you forget your own name?â you asked.
âBee,â he paused, âohhhh, thatâs me. Those are for me, wait, turn around,â you rolled your eyes as you turned around to see the back of the jacket, âoh, thatâs my name.â
âYeah, no shit, Sherlock,â Kevin said, concerned from the whole exchange.Â
âHeâs just having one of his moments. Be nice, Kev,â you said, holding back a laugh as you turned back towards your boyfriend who looked like there was something wrong, âBee, you okay?â
âYeah, yeah, I just- you got my name on a jacket. You usually arenât this nice, but this is something nice, so Iâm just worried something is wrong with you,â he said, genuinely.Â
You visibly gaped as the guys around you howled in laughter as Karly spoke up, âtechnically, I got her the jacket, sheâs just wearing it.â
âOhhh, okay, that makes more sense.â
âDamn, y/n/n, how badly do you treat the poor kid?â Scott asked from the couch.
âBetter watch yourself, Scotty,â you said, shooting him a glare.Â
âLetâs just get the movie started before Short Stack attacks someone,â Travis added.Â
Drawing names to see who would pick the movie, Nicole picked out the movie, Stick It, which had always been one of her favorites. It was expected for people to be getting up during the movie, but when you noticed Nicole missing from seeing her favorite movie, you became worried that something had happened, âpsst, did you see where Nicole went?â you whispered over to Joel.Â
âNo, did you see where Nolan went?â he asked you, which caused you to grow suspicious as you noticed both of them were gone. âMaybe theyâre just making out in the kitchen or something?â
âWhy would they be making out? Theyâre just friends.â
âDude, theyâre still friends in the same way you and me are still friends.â
âNo, because if something were going on she would tell me and I think it would be obvious.âÂ
âLook, I know Iâm oblivious, but you choose to ignore a lot of obvious details just because.â
âYeah, whatever.â
âFine, if we get up and find them together or doing something romantic? I donât know, but either way, you have to post that weâre together first, but I choose the caption.â
âIs that a bet?â
âYes,â to which the two of you shook on it.Â
âHey guys, how many of you think thereâs something going on with Nolan and Nicole?â Joel asked the group.Â
âOh, yeah, Iâve noticed for months, they just havenât done anything about it out of fear of what y/n will think,â Karly said like it was some simple statement.Â
âWhat do you mean that they fear what I would think?â you asked, causing everyone to look at you.Â
âShort Stack, you are literally this little spitfire that could attack at any moment, they just donât want to upset you,â Travis added just as the pair walked back into the living room, âah, hereâs the two lovebirds now.âÂ
A flash of panic crossed Nicoleâs face as Nolan blushed, âno, I just needed help getting drinks and Nolan was right there.â
âOkay, then where are the drinks and why does Nolan have a hickey?â Scott pointed out.Â
âI forget them in the kitchen and Nolan burnt himself with a curling iron,â she offered.Â
âKarly, did you leave your curling iron in the kitchen again? Silly goose,â Travis said.Â
Joel quickly noticed how quiet you were from beside him, âhey, babe. Whatâs wrong?â
âIâm okay, Iâm going to go and get a drink really quick,â you said, softly smiling before heading into the kitchen. Everyoneâs eyes followed you as you retreated back to the kitchen, Nicole sighed, the guilt of not telling you finally hitting her.Â
âDo you want me to come with you?â Nolan offered.
âNo, this is definitely between the two of us,â she answered before following you, ây/n/n, look-â
âNicole, itâs fine,â you said, filling a cup with ice.Â
âItâs obviously not, I know you better than that,â she said, gently, waiting for a response from you, âlook, this honestly hasnât gone to anything serious yet because I knew I needed to tell you. I know I shouldnât have kept it from you and that you would have been fine with it, we just didnât want anyone to know. No one really knew, Karly just picked up on it because sheâs Karly and everyone else figured it out. And I know you knew something was going on, you just didnât want to accept it.â
âI donât have an issue with it, I would have rather you just tell me straight up whatâs happening, but I had to find out because Joel made a joke and you couldnât give Nolan a hickey where it wasnât visible,â you said honestly, filling your cup with water.Â
âIâm sorry. I donât know what else to offer, there wasnât really another reason other than we didnât know how you would react,â she said, leaning back on the kitchen counter as you stared at the cup in your hand, ây/n/n, please say something. Iâll break it off if-â
âI would never make you break things off with him and you know that. How long has this been going on?âÂ
âUh, weâve liked each other for a while, but didnât do anything about it until you had to go back on crutches, so maybe a few weeks.â
âGotcha, gotcha.â
âAre you mad at us? It was my idea, Nolan said we should just tell you, but-â
âNic, please. Iâm not mad, I knew something was up, I was just more focused on other things. Does he make you happy?â you asked, looking back up at her, smiling at the small blush that had rushed up to her face.Â
âYeah, he really does.âÂ
âThen, Iâm chilling. Come on, you already missed half of your favorite movie making out with Nols,â she laughed as the two of you made your way back.Â
âYou good, y/n/n?â Kevin asked as you sat by Joel again, who wrapped his arms around your shoulder.Â
âMaybe you should ask Nicole, just to make sure y/n/n didnât attack her,â Scott added.Â
âEh, Iâve known her for years, I have a few strategies,â Nicole said, simply.Â
âOh, shut up, Nicky,â you said, jokingly rolling your eyes.Â
âI know damn well that you did not just say Nicky,â she said, shocked.Â
âOh, did I?â
âYou want to take this outside, babe.â
âHmm, maybe tomorrow.âÂ
âIâm concerned, but this is entertaining,â Travis said, to which everyone else agreed. Â
âIâll record it and post it on world-star,â Joel added.Â
âThanks, babe. Oh and Patty Lapone, if you hurt her, I will bust your kneecaps,â you said, faking sweetness.
âUnderstandably, so,â Nolan said, honestly.Â
âGlad weâre on the same page. And Nicky, donât hurt him either.âÂ
âNoted,â Nicole said.
âHey babe, you know you have to post us first now, right?â Joel said, smirk growing on his face, âand I get to choose the caption.â
âYouâre letting him choose the caption?â Karly asked, âgood luck, Sunshine.â
âŠ..
âSo, do you know what picture youâre going to post? I have mine picked out,â Joel asked you as you finished your night routine.Â
âIâm still upset that you won that bet, but probably the picture of us thatâs my wallpaper,â you said, patting your face dry.Â
âWhat picture?â Joel asked, confused as to what you meant.Â
âOh, Karly took a bunch of pictures the day we were at the lake and the one thatâs my wallpaper is the one where youâre about to throw me in the water and Iâm laughing at you. Or I might post one of the pictures Nicole took of us where Iâm wearing your jersey,â you explained.Â
âOk, one, why havenât I seen these and two, why didnât you send me them?âÂ
âOh, I donât know, you never asked.â
âI never knew.âÂ
âSame thing?â you offered before walking out of the bathroom to sit on your bed as Joel grabbed his bag to start packing for the next day.
âOk, well get the post ready and Iâll caption it,â Joel said, holding his hand out.Â
âPlease keep it reasonable, I am an example to tiny humans.â
âKids?â
âSame thing,â you said, handing your phone over to him, already open to instagram.Â
Joel had been thinking about what he would caption this post for the rest of the day after you had talked about going public. Quickly typing up the caption and tagging himself, he posted it, âokay, all done.â
âIt didnât take you that long?â
âYeah, I know. I kinda figured it out earlier,â he said, shrugging and handing you back your phone. As you saw the notifications for the post, you opened it to see the picture of you two captioned âthe bee to my honeyâ.Â
âThat is so incredibly cheesy and adorable,â you said, smiling at your phone, âKarly already commented upset that you didnât give her photo credit though, but she said the caption wasnât terrible.â
âYeah, Iâm so good with words, babe. Weâve established this.â
âYouâre truly something. Wait, are you captioning yours âthe honey to my beeâ because that way itâs just in reverse?â
âYeah, weâre just that cool,â Joel said, handing you his packing list, âwill you go over this with me to make sure I have everything?â
âSuperstitious King, ok, um, your garment bag with your suit?â you continued down the list as you heard him respond to everything you said, âGlasses? Glasses? Why do you have glasses on this list?â
âBecause I need them to see?â he said, confused by your question.Â
âSince when have you worn glasses?â
âA while actually, I just donât wear them all that often,â he shrugged.Â
âWait, what do they look like on you?â you asked, watching as he contemplated showing you before reaching in his bag and grabbing his glasses case.Â
âIf you make any jokes, I will never wear them around you again,â he said before putting them on. âOk, one joke, and thatâs all.â He was shocked by how quiet you were, ây/n/n, please just make the joke already while Iâm prepared for it.â
âOh no, I actually donât have a joke this time. You look really good in glasses.âÂ
âOh, a compliment?â
âHa ha, yeah, I can be nice sometimes. But no, you genuinely look hot in those, you look hot in general, but like, now especially,â you continued rambling.Â
âAwe, youâre being nice and I made you nervous,â he cooed.Â
âYou donât make me nervous, Farabee,â you said, rolling your eyes.Â
âOh, I donât? Okay,â he took steps closer to you standing in front of you and placing his arms on either side of you, smirking as he heard your breath hitch, âyou sure I donât make you nervous?â
âY-you donât,â you replied, watching his actions closely as he leaned his face closer to yours, placing his hand on your thigh before leaning beside your ear.Â
âOkay, then,â he whispered before standing back up to finish packing, a smirk lacing his features.Â
âThat was rude,â you pouted, to which he simply shrugged. âYeah, thatâs not going to work, babe. Karma is a real thing,â you said, watching as he furrowed his brows.
âWhat do you mean?âÂ
âKarma,â you said, before just grabbing a longer shirt of his for pajamas and heading to the bathroom to change. Coming back minutes later to see Joel in bed, leaning against the headboard, already looking your way.Â
ây/n,â he said, cautiously, âplease say thereâs something underneath my shirt.â
âI donât know, Bee, is there?â you asked, pulling the comforter back on your bed as you laid down for bed.Â
âI donât like this game, itâs not that fun,â he said, moving down to lay his head on your chest, your hand instinctively going to his hair.Â
âKarma is karma, pretty boy,â you said, chuckling when you felt him start to trace patterns on your thigh, obviously looking for a way to tell if you had shorts on. âYou have to be up in a few hours and Kevin and Nol will barge in here tomorrow morning if you arenât on time.â
âYeah, yeah, yeah. Are you going to answer my question?â
âYou didnât ask a question.â
âYouâre really annoying sometimes. Are you going to answer my statement?âÂ
âYou still love me though and I wonât answer your statement,â you said, softly, knowing that he was ready to fall asleep. âGoodnight, Bee.â
âGoodnight, babe.â
The alarm for the start of Joelâs day went off way too soon, but he knew he needed to get up. Quickly turning off his alarm to avoid waking you up, he got up to get his shower and get dressed for his day.Â
After getting a text from Nolan that they would be at your door in about 5 minutes, he decided to tell you goodbye, ây/n/n, baby, itâs time for me to go.â
âYou donât have to go, tell them you canât go,â you said, half asleep, barely even realizing what you were saying.Â
âAs much as I wish I could, it doesnât work like that, babe.â
âWell have you tried to see if it would work?â he chuckled at your question.Â
âI love you and Iâll see you in a few days, alright,â he kissed the top of your head before grabbing his bags and heading out to the living room to wait on Kevin and Nolan. Taking a seat on the couch as he waited, he heard the bedroom door open with footsteps following, âyou should go back to sleep.â
âI have to go to PT in a few hours, so might as well be up,â you said, âplus, I kinda want to say bye to Kev and Nols.â
âYou have PT at noon, itâs almost 5am. Once we leave, please try to get some sleep.âÂ
âAwe, Bee, you worried about me?â
âUnfortunately Iâm always worried about you and youâre such a chaotic person that itâs reasonable and the concern only ever grows.â
âThatâs true, I am kinda chaotic,â you said, causing him to chuckle.Â
âJust a tad.â
The sound of the key turning and door opening drew yours and Joelâs attention away from each other for a moment, âsup, bitches,â Kevinâs voice rang out.Â
âWhat the fuck, Kev?â you asked, grabbing a blanket from your couch, wrapping it around you.Â
âRise and shine, y/n/n. Hope you slept well, now we have to leave, so say bye to your boy,â Kevin added, turning back to leave again.Â
âOk, I have to get going, shawty bae. Go get some sleep, text me how PT goes, and tell Adrian I said hi. Bye, babe,â he kissed the top of your head once more before grabbing his bag and heading on his way.Â
âŠ..
âSo, no lover boy today?â Adrian asked as you stepped into his office.Â
âNo, not today,â you said, sitting down on the bench, âhim and the boys have an away game tonight, so they left this morning and will be back in a few days.âÂ
âSo, I assume things are going well?â he asked, rolling his chair over to you.Â
âYeah, things are going very well. We posted about us being together officially on instagram last night.âÂ
âOh, wow. Instagram, thatâs crazy,â he said, sarcastically.Â
âHey, shush. Itâs a bigger step than you think.â
âOh, yes. The power couple that you two athletes are, hmm. Forgot about that.â
âStop, itâs not that crazy. It just kinda is a big step in my opinion.â
âWell, I am happy for you and Iâm also proud of you for actually listening to me and staying off your knee.â
âHey, that rhymed,â you softly interrupted.Â
âHa ha, so funny. Anyways, with how it looks now, I say youâre good to start training again,â he said, taking the time to examine your knee. He could tell that you had actually listened to what he had told you, just like he hoped you had. He was excited to see you back to where you needed to be.Â
âLike training training? Or just training?â
âTraining training. Just be careful and donât overwork yourself. I am aware that there isnât much time before you have the U.S Championships, but donât rush it. Take your time. Quality over quantity. Okay, Superstar?â
âYeah, yeah, of course,â you said, excitedly, jumping off the bench to hug Adrian, âthank you.â
âHey, I didnât do anything, this is all you. But if anyone can do this, you can. Just take care of yourself, alright? I donât want all my work to go to waste,â he said, jokingly.Â
âWow, I see how it is. I see how it is.â
âYou know Iâm joking, Superstar. Donât even.â
âDo I, Adrian? Do I know that?â
âJust leave already,â he joked, âyou have a lot of work to catch up on. Good luck, y/n/n.â
Knowing that the boys were either at lunch, wrapping up morning skate, or getting settled, you shot Kevin a quick text to call you whenever he had the chance; your phone rang only a few minutes later. âHey, is everything okay?â Kevinâs concerned voice rang through.
âYeah, yeah. Iâm fine. Adrian cleared me to train again.â
âAye, letâs go. Alright, so you have like, what? Two weeks before you leave for the U.S. Championships?âÂ
âYeah, Marcus and Michelle already figured out all my travel arrangements months ago, so no worries there. Iâm just worried about the fact that I have about 12 practices, but Marcus will probably worry and have me practice less, so about 10 practices? And what if-â you rambled.Â
âNo, weâre not doing the âwhat ifâ conversations right now. Or anytime soon for that matter. Youâll get it. And if you have to simplify it for now, then thatâs how itâll be, but you stressing out right now is not going to change the number of practices you have or how they go. Only you can be the one to determine how practices go.â
âSince when did you get all wise, Kev?â
âI read this really inspirational fortune cookie earlier, it caused me to have a whole epiphany on life. Same old, same old.â
âAlright, wasnât expecting that one, but Iâm here for it. What are you guys up to?â
âWhat are we up to? Or what is Beezer up to?â Kevin asked, knowingly.Â
âI was honestly just asking in general, but since you brought him up-â the two of you took a little bit of time to catch up. Him filling you in on how morning skate went and how the lineups for the game were looking. He also told you how the team was looking good this morning and that if they played how they needed to, they could easily win.Â
You were still on the phone with Kevin by the time you pulled into the gym parking lot, âhey, I have to talk to Marcus about training, but Iâll probably talk to you after the game. Tell Bee Iâll talk to him later too. Bye, Kev.â
âStay safe, be careful, make wise choices. Iâll talk to you later, y/n/n.â
Walking into the gym this time was different, almost similar to your first time back after everything, but right now you had the ability to train and to work how you needed to. You just needed to get back into your element.Â
Knowing that the only practice going on was for the younger kids, you made your way up to Marcusâ office. Knocking gently on the door, you opened it to see him and Michelle sitting near his desk. âSo, whatâs the verdict?â Marcus asked, expectantly.Â
âWell, thereâs two weeks until Championships and I need to get this dismount,â you said, watching as the two of their smiles only grew. As the three of you went over everything that Adrian said, the three of you planned out the next two weeks.Â
âAlright, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning practices, you can spend the whole practice on beam, drills, and conditioning, but afternoon practices you need to do other events. Then, Tuesday and Thursdays will be working on other events, and Saturdays is just a markthrough day for routines,â Michelle explained easily, which showed that they had already thought of this beforehand.Â
âAnd weâre going to ease into it again, but this time from doubles. We both know you can easily get back to where you need to and we also believe that with how determined you seem right now, youâll be fine. If you do okay with doubles, weâll move onto triples as soon as we can. If anyone can do it, you can,â Marcus said, honestly.Â
âŠ..
Checking his phone after the game was over, the smile on Joelâs face quickly grew at all the encouraging texts he had gotten from you. Quickly replying, he looked up to see most of the guys sharing knowing looks, âwhat?â
âNothing, we can just easily tell who texted you from the way you looked at your phone,â Nolan pointed out.Â
âYou donât really hide it, so itâs kinda obvious,â Carter added.Â
âWell yeah, I donât have a reason to hide it. My girl makes me happy,â Joel said, turning to see Kevin giving him a pointed look, âokay, maybe one reason to hide it.â
âDidnât she have a PT appointment today? Any updates?â Scott asked, walking towards the younger guys.
âOh, yeah. She got cleared and starts training again tomorrow,â Joel answered, causing all the team to smile.
Rushing to finish getting ready, so that he could FaceTime you, he grabbed his bag and made his way to an empty hallway to talk to you. The phone rang only a few times before you picked up, âhey, baby. You did really good at your game.â
âThank you, thank you. I was thinking of you when I scored,â he said, watching behind you to see you walking around the apartment.Â
âThat was really cheesy.â
âYeah, I realized that after I said it, but itâs the thought that counts,â he retaliated, causing you to chuckle, âdid you get everything figured out with your coaches to start practicing again?âÂ
âBabe, you just won a game and youâre worried about my PT and training schedule?âÂ
âWell, I donât have an explanation, but I get hockey 24/7 for the next few days, so I kinda want to hear about your life and gymnastics,â he said, honestly, which only made you smile.Â
âYeah, we got my training schedule figured out. I start practice again in the morning, but luckily I was able to work it out to where I have a day of just beam work to mostly do the dismount and drills and then the rest of the week is for other events. But I will have to travel for this meet, which I havenât had to do in a while.â
âOh, itâs in Texas? Right?â he asked, causing you to hum in agreement, âand how long before you leave?â
âWell, I leave the Wednesday night before, podium training on Thursday, and then, competition Friday and Sunday. And then Iâll be back Monday.â
âAh, so I get to know how you feel when Iâm on the road.â
âYep, and youâll know much it sucks,â you said, rolling your eyes.Â
You were happy that Joel was happy and playing the sport that he loved, but him being on the road often threw off the routine that the two of you had with each other. Waking up next to each other; either making or getting breakfast; him driving you to practice before going to his; jamming out to music as the two of you prepared for your day; the list goes on.Â
âAwe, you just miss me so much. Itâs understandable really.â
âDonât get cocky, Farabee,â you said.Â
âItâs okay to admit that you-â
âBee, I will hang up on you,â you threatened.
âBabe, you would miss me too much,â he said, making you roll your eyes once again.Â
âBye, Beezer,â you said, hitting the end call button.Â
He simply smiled at the action, knowing well enough that if he called back you would decline and that you were too stubborn to call him back. Quickly sending you a goodnight text, he made his way back to the locker room, not missing all the chirps the boys had to say in response.Â
âŠ..
You spent the Monday and Wednesday of that week working on drills to be able to do the dismount. With the boys still gone until Friday, you spent your practices wisely and used any extra time that you could at the gym. Your routines were getting back to where they needed to be and you couldnât have been happier. The drills that you were doing to work your dismount were also working out very well.Â
âI want you to try a few triple dismounts. Just a triple and by tomorrow I want you to go for the 3.5 twist. The drills youâre doing arenât really doing anything at this point, youâve basically mastered them. So, I do believe if you really work towards it, you could get the quad twist by Olympic Trials, you will compete a 3.5 for U.S. Championships, but with the way practices are going I firmly believe the quad is only a few tries away from you,â Marcus told you as you did your beam warm up.
âMarcus, I-â
âYouâre doing the dismount,â Michelle added as she passed by.Â
âJust go for a triple, thatâs all I want to see today. Once you do one, youâll get back in the groove of things and youâll be able to do more than one today. You got this, y/n/n, I know you can, you just have to get past the mental block.â
You knew he was right. As you thought about the skill, you knew it was basically a step away from you. If you went for it, with the way the drills are looking, you would have it. And from there, itâs just the 3.5 and then more work towards the quad. You knew you had the skills, you just had to remind your body of that fact.Â
Taking a deep breath, you started your beam routine. Hitting all the skills that you had, you made your way back and forth on the beam until you got the the start of your dismount. âCâmon, y/n, you got it. Just breathe,â you heard Marcus as you took another breath before starting the dismount. Going for the roundoff, you started for the twisting part of the dismount, watching and twisting three times, you opened up, shocked when you landed the dismount.Â
âTwinkle Toes,â Marcus beamed, âyou did it.â
âHuh?â you said, realizing what you did, âwait. I did it.â
âYou did the triple. I knew you could. I need you to do a few more, just to create the habit. Land at least five and then switch to bars.âÂ
âAlright, yeah,â you answered, quickly realizing that you were one step closer to your goal. Doing the next five took a little bit of time, but you were getting used to the landing and the skill itself. After finishing, you moved onto bars.Â
âDid I see a triple dismount?â Nicole asked as you walked over to the chalk box.
âMaybe you did, maybe you didnât,â you said, shrugging.Â
âDoes that mean youâre trying the 3.5 again soon?â
âMost likely tomorrow. You will be seeing it soon, I promise.â
âŠ..
When Joel noticed that he got home early enough to come surprise you at practice, he jumped at the chance. Quickly dragging Nolan and Kevin with him - considering they were his ride - he asked them to head to the gym. Once they entered, they got settled in the overhead seating area, he quickly found you standing with Marcus near the beam.Â
âCâmon, Twinkle Toes, in order to get the dismount back, you have to get on the beam,â he heard Marcus say.Â
âLook, trust the process. Iâm mentally preparing for it before I go for it.â
âAre you actually going to get on the beam at some point today? Or will you still be mentally preparing by the end of practice?âÂ
âShush, it wonât take me that long, I promise,â Marcus sighed.Â
âJust get on the beam, thatâs all I need.â
âAlright,â you got onto the beam, walking towards the end as you prepared for the dismount.Â
âOk, just keep the same habits, just twist faster and open up a little bit later, you got it,â Marcus reassured you. Taking a deep breath, you prepped for the dismount. âCâmon, Twinkle Toes.â
Joel and the boys watched closely as you went through your habit of mentally visualizing first, watching you go for the round off and start twisting. âWait, sheâs going for the 3.5,â Kevin said. The three of them all held a breath as they watched you go for the dismount, letting out the breath when you landed it.Â
You landed it. âWait, I did it. Marcus, I did it.â
âI told you so, your boys are watching by the way,â Marcus said, causing you to look up to see the boys smiling to which you simply waved, âI need you to do some more of those either today or tomorrow, but you can go see your boy.â
Rushing over to the stairs to go see Joel, he met you at the bottom of the staircase, âhey, honey.â
âHey, Bee.â
âYou did the dismount,â he said, smiling.Â
âI did the dismount,â you reiterated, matching his smile as he picked you up and spun you around.
âIâm so proud of you, you have no idea,â he said as his lips met yours.Â

Scott Pilgrimâs Precious Little Life Review
Happy Birthday To Me, as I continue my birthday celebration by taking a look at comics that have a personal connection to me.. And for our main feature, iâm taking a look at the first volume of a series that was vitally important to a teenage me, Scott Pilgrim.Â
Scott Pilgrim is the brainchild of Brian LeeâOâMalley. OâMalley came up with the concept from a number of things. Being a fan of the band Plumtree, OâMalley was curious about the name of their song âScott Pilgrimâ and wondered who this Scott Pilgrim guy was. So over the years he slowly built the guy up in the back of his mind using bits of his life and what not. As for why he ends up fighting 7 evil exes, that came from a discussion with his then girlfriend, later wife and currently ex-wife Hope Larson, where he threw off the joke that her exes should form some kind of League. After finishing his first solo work Lost at Sea, OâMalley decided Scotty would be his next project and the rest is history. To date while OâMalley has written two works since, Seconds which is delightful and Snotgirl which didnât grab me but I intend to try again, Scott remains his most popular work, in large part due to itâs SUBLIME video game and movie adaptations, the former of which is finally getting a rerelease next month.Â
The series charm is in itâs style: A manga styled comic that combines two desperate kinds of story: Shonen Fight Manga and Slice of Life Indie Comics. The story shifts from Scott going through normal life stuff while trying to make his new relationship work and get his shit together and Scott getting into big bombastic fights with his new sweetieâs exes for the right to keep dating her and to you know, stay alive. The series effortlesly blends a video game like world with real grounded characters and is wonderful for it. As for where I came in, one Free Comic Book day I found a little comic named Free Scott Pilgrim, which I genuinely loved and was instantly charmed by itâs humor and well done art. So I picked up the second and third volumes of the series proper and the first once I could find it and the rest ,as they say, is history. For my high school life, this was one of hte most important things in it and I wrote fanfiction, which I thankfully never put online and in general enjoyed the hell out of the series. Then I just kind of.. let it sit on my shelf for a while. It wasnât BAD, I just never got back to it and as the franchise went dormant I just sorta slept on it and the movie and that part of me...
Cut to a few weeks ago, when Comixology did a massive sale for black friday that marked a ton of Graphic Novels down to just 1 buck each, and the color editions of Scott Pilgrim happened to be part of this, though only volume 1 was that cheap. But thanks to my best friend micheal and an early christmas/birthday present I got the rest and got to revisit the series as a whole, with me rethinking my previous thoughts of volume 1 and thus.. wanting to review it and share both why this series is so damn special and whatâs good, and whatâs not so good about it. Iâll also be covering the game, once iâts re-released, and the movie once iâm finsihed with the comics so look out for that. And get ready to take a trip to the glorious land of canada...Â
As a heads up and as you can tell iâll be using the color version as while I could get scans of the black and white, I prefer the color version. While the black and white was fine and always will be, I think the impressive coloring job really adds to thing and makes the already great fight scenes pop more, as well as making certain background elements stand out a bit. While it does negate the black and white gags, the tradeoff is more than worth it. That being said either version is fine so if you can get the black and white cheaper thatâs fine and iâve kept my original copies, with volumes 4 -6 having been picked up as they came out.Â
So as our story starts we meet our hero: Scott Pilgrim Age 23, a charming but jobless and kind of sketchy possible college graduate whose really been adrift in his life since a breakup about a year ago. And when our story opens heâs taken a turn for a worse and decided to date sweet but naive and inexperinced Knives Chau, a 17 year old girl. And why yes the power dynamics there are messed up and why yes Scott is pretty damn sketchy in this moment in time, and while yes I am aware the age of consent in canada is 16, it dosenât make this any less greasy and the story knows that. And how it knows that MOST of his friends arenât on board. The only ones who seems to is Stephen Stiles, leader of Sex Bomb-Omb, the band scottâs in with one of the best names ever and even then itâs hard to tell if heâs being sarcastic or just a total douche. The other, Young Neil Nordgraf, Stephenâs roomate, is well 19 or 20 and kind of a dipshit so we just ignore him. I used to use him as kind of a projection, to put myself in the adventure when I was younger as Neil kind of lacks personality in the comics but in the comics.. heâs not hte best or most complex character. He is great in the movie though and Edgar Wright did an amazing job fleshing him out. The rest of his circle are .. not so permissive. His best friend, roomate and king of all gays for all time Wallace Wells very much does not want to come with Scott to school to pick her up because every part of that sentence after hurt to type. Granted Scott gets him to come with him with promises of boys, but frankly knowing wallace he was probably just playing along/wants to protect this poor child. His ex and fellow bandmate Kim is clearly bothered by it and is flat out worried Scott is taking advantage of her. Kim and Wallace are easily my faviorites both for personality and because I have a massive crush on both. With Wallace it just didnât manifest till the reread. Finally Scottâs kid sister Stacey chews him out over it before genuinely wondering if heâs gone insane or heâs actually happy. For my two cents: heâs not. He WANTS to be, but he dosenât know how. And as someone whose both neurotypical, which given Scottâs troubles with empathy and relating to people like yours truly I strongly suggest he is, and has struggled with depression I can relate to that. He wants to move on but he just.. canât, he just wants to get past the haze heâs been in since Envy dumped him.. but he dosenât know how. So instead of doing someting constructive or finding a job or anything .. he just took the first and easiest way out of his depression he could. Iâve done that with video games and stuff. Scott did that by entering a relationship thatâs really easy, requires only so much effort, and is with someone who utterly adores, looks up to him and will never expect better. Being with Knives makes him feel better.. but it dosenât MAKE him a better person. As iâve made clear dating someone just for a boost makes him actively worse and had fate not intervened, I shudder to think what Scott might have become. That being said his actoins are still creepy and since Scott has a habit of landing ass backwards into being an asshole hereâs a counter to track that. Thatâs 2 for doing this overall, one for tleling her to be good, and 1 for trying to ply wallace with underage boys.Â
Your the Scum of the Earth Scott Counter: 1
Thankfully fate does and Scottâs dreams, ones of him crawling through a desert alone, are interupted by a mysterious pink haired girl on skates. The next day heâs just sort of in a daze, kind of confused, and even more so when he sees her IN REAL LIFE, while at the library with Knives. Heâs understandably frazzled but ends up finding out heâs not hallucinating when talking to MIcheal Cormeau. Micheal is a minor character and another artist and friend of o malleyâs who represents that one guy in social circles who knows everybody. And indeed he knows the mystery girl, Ramona Flowers and that sheâs there. Scott TRIES talking her up but just creeps her out, so Scott goes with plan b and decides to ask around about her. Enter Sandra and Monique, two college aquantinces of Scott, who just sorta show up at major events and arenât that developed or intresting. They turn him to Julie who forbids him to date her. To which I say.Â
Naturually weâll aslo be needing a counter for this.Â
Shut Up Julie Counter: 1
Scott however did find out sheâs a delivery girl for Amazon Canada, and thus orders some CDâs on Wallaceâs Credit card to hopefully see her. And while his behavior IS obessive.. itâs understandable. Iâd be weirdly obessed with finding someone too if they showed up in my dreams every day and were apparently a real person. Iâd probably play it cooler but still iâts kind of understandable. So after a day with knives in which heâs clearly checked out she kisses him, he freaks out and itâs very clear that while Scottâs good at attracting women heâs just.. not good with his emotions and has finally woken up to how messed up this is, but has no idea how to get out now heâs intrested in someone he actually has a future with maybe. Speaking of Scottâs package and Ramona finally arrive. Scottâs move is to.. ask her out abrubtly but after he mentions her Dreams, Ramona finally puts two and two together and explains things: Sheâs been using Subspace, a seris of highways connected by the subconcious and apparently more common in america, though itâs later revealed she was taught this but being the first book with a lot of the lore and what not ironed out this is fine. Point is she was just using his dreams as transit and didnât mean to get him obessed. Scott continues to try his schtick and eventually gets her to agree to hang out with him. Why she does I generally do not know, as SCott basically fell ass backwards over himself conversationally, but whatever. If he didnât succeed we wouldnât have a plot.Â
That being said things pick up a bit with the date though. The scene is really good and simply just the two.. talking. Having plesant conversations getting to know one another. That good stuff. itâs just really nice to read and itâs hard to explain why. Highlights include Scottâs x-men patch, Ramona not wanting to talk about her last job and Scott admitting he hasnât been obessed in a long time.. and it comes off sweet rather htan creepy like that sounds. It just means he hasnât fell this head over heels felt like this. As I said Knives was easy.. but this is hard.. and this.. feels right. So as things Snow Ramona yanks scott through subspace to escape the blizzard.Â
So we end up back at Ramonaâs place and she offers some tea which leads to one of the best gags of the volume as she lists them off:Â
So Ramona goes to get Scott a blanket, Scott ends up following finds her changing, and she decides to warm him up another way.. by embracing him... cue.. the inevitible really.Â
It feels organic though: The two are clearly attracted to each other and while Scott came on as strong as freaking colossus, he still rebounded well once they hung out and he could relax a bit and show the scott underneath the lairs of dumbass. The two end up cuddling in bed and Scott seems..genuiley happy saying he needed this... awwwwwww. They part the next morning with him asking her to his bandâs performance.Â
So Scott finds Wallace at home who says what Scott needs to hear âYou need to break up with your fake highschool girlfriend scottâ Granted the entire first 40 pages couldâve been titled that but now heâs actively cheating. Heâs also got a letter.Â
youtube
Itâs a death threat Scott barely grazes through, just like an email earlier.Â
But scottâs more concerned with his emotional distress.. i.e. the consequences of his throughly shitty actions finally hitting him in the face.Â
Scott heads to practice for his gig and canât bring himself to break up with knives, but does find out about the opposition: Crash and the Boys, based on an NES game title because of course it is. Crash, their leader, Joel their baseplayer who scott hates because he hates all other baseplayers (âI donât hate myself kim) and Trasha, an 8 year old progedy they found playing Drum Mania. Donât ask me what that is, iâm not going to get every refrence.Â
So at the show Scott runs into Stacey and her new boyfriend Jimmy with Stacey being supportive. And then Knives shows up and then RAMONA SHOWS UP. Oh no scottâs cheating might be discovered!Â
So Scott books it while weâre introduced to Crash and the Boys. Wallace heckles them, to the bandâs annoyance, until they eventually get fed up and we easly get the best gag of the volume. I was wrong this clearly tops the tea thing.Â
So Crash and The Boys continue to play their set, including a song that supposdely kills the audience but really knocks them out.. which of course bothers kim because they play next. Meanwhile Ramona and Stacey meet and the two really get along.. and come back to find the audience koâd and Wallace Making out with Staceyâs boyfriend. Oh no! Which is a dick move, no question. But Staceyâs next move is questionable even for a 19 year old: She says âYou wonât steel another guy from me and tells wallace to sit over thereâ. Okay Stacey even if he is bi, and this series has trouble with the concept of bisexuals weâll get into that later trust me, he made out with someone else entirely while on a date with you. Wallace is still an asshole, itâs part of his charm.. but it dosenât change the fact your date kissed someone else seconds after you were gone and has been eyballing him all night, as seen even above. Heâs not into you as you thought, just accept it, move on, and kick Jimmy in the balls and then wallace like a proper lady. So Scott prepares to play and this happens
And itâs here, at the very end of the comic the series main premise finally kicks in and the world takes itâs true shape. Itâs a world where an indie comedy about a mess of a being putting his life together after finding his dream girl.. also has said mess being forced to get into fist fights with wizards, movie stars, vegans, half-ninjas, twin roboticists and a katana wielding douchenozzle record exec in order to continue to have the right to date his girlfriend.Â
Itâs where the series charm comes from and really what made it a huge sucess so itâs no suprise this volume perks up immensley for the climax. Iâll get more into itâs pacing problem at the end. For now itâs fight time and as we find out in a hilarious and awesome turn.. Scott is the best fighter in toronto.. which just makes me REALLLY want a Scott Pilgrim version of letterkenny. I mean who wouldnât want to see wayne fight some guy who can turn his hands into dragons or see Squireely Dan do E.Hondaâs hand slap move from streetfighter or see the skids all fuse into one mega emo. Itâs just.. the possiblities are as endless as they are wonderous and I want this now.Â
But yeah as Patel is both the first boss and Scottâs first real opponent Scott.. handles him really easily. This was by design as OâMalley wanted a shonen progression to the fights.. and honestly itâs a great way to do things. Since the fights are styled after shonen and video games, and both have power based progression in bad guys and threats, it just made sense. Patel.. is just pathetic even with his magic powers, and his habit of sending letters and emails just pounds it in. Though he is right to be a bit pissed Scott didnât read a letter he hand delivered in a snowstorm. Thatâs just a tad rude.Â
Mid-Fight, Scott, now he knows the whole evil ex boyfriend thing, wonders what Matt and Ramonaâs past is and while Matthew refuses to tell.. Ramona spills easily. It was midddle school, all the jocks wanted her for whatever reason, likely because from experince in high school, guys really like indie girls. Matthew was the only non-white non jock, so they teamed up and with her strength and his mystic powers they beat them.. but since his use had dried up, she flipped him off and left. Matthew dosenât take this well and summons demon hipster chicks to fight while Scott and co, minus ramona, fight back with a finger gun routine and block his fire balls before propelling Scott into matthew somehow, and landing the KO Evil Exes Left: 6 Matthew bursts into coins though fun fact, OâMalley says the Exes all respawned back at home afterwords and learned their lesson. With Pattel I genuinely donât think he did... but clearly given his penchant for formality what with the letters and emails, he probably felt itâd break protocol to attack before the rest were done. He probably jsut formed a hipster emo band and found more sucess using his magic for that instead and just forgot about the whole thing. Could be wrong but thatâs what iâm going with. So Scott asks Ramona to go out with him then make out with him, both of which she says yes to. Nice one scotty boy. Ramona then explains the whole evil exes thing: Heâll have to defeat each one as they come after him, and while Scott wonders if theyâll come one at a time Ramonaâs not sure. As time will bear out, Scott is MOSTLY correct as most exes take him one on one, with the exception of the twins. But since as I said earlier the twins are basically one person, and as weâll find out by choice, so itâs an exception. Plus their the last step before the final boss, so by that token itâs a bit fairer to have the penultimate boss get an unfair advantage. Scott is fine with that, he and Ramona share another moment and a kiss.. but Scott makes the mistake of asking if gideon is one and Ramonaâs head starts glowing with her dodging the subject, though still going out with SCott and him worried.. it just feels.. off. not a bad ending but the only one of the series three cliffhanger endings that just dosenât work for me, especailly since it is a bit before the Gideon mystery really picks up steam again. But with that we close this chapter
FINAL THOUGHTS:
Precious Little Life is a decent start to the story. While Scott is loathsome at first, heâs still a compelling character and does get more likeable as things go, the humor when it is there shines and is one of the series best assets and while the fight is short and only at the end, it is oh so glorious especailly in cover with the impacts taking cues from the movie. Itâs a good intro to Scottâs world and therâes a reason the movie adapts this book the closest as it sets up the cast and premise well, with only Stephen Stiles feeling a bit off and ONLY for the first few chapters. The volume is only really held back by itâs pacing, as before Scott runs into ramona in his dream the story feels a bit sluggish as weâre just watching some douche date a high school kid. While it is necessary to set up the world, it just dosenât have the snappy pacing the series would be known for and that makes the rest of the series more charming. itâs nto BAD.. but itâs not FANTASTIC like the series would become. What keeps it from being bad is simple: These arenât general badness signs but more just OâMalley coming into his owna nd getitng better and better as the book goes, to the point that by the next book the pacing is much better and by book 3 onwards he has it down pat. Overall not a BAD volume but certaionly the weakest of the bunch.. which given itâs still really good says something about the ride weâre in for. Iâll be back sometime in the future, likely january. Yup iâm taking on YET ANOTHER PROJECT. but since this one, while clearly exausting and time consuimg, is much shorter in overall length, and iâm still proritizing the three I have running over this, I think iâll be just fine. Until next time, have a happy holiday.Â

Dear Kunal sir I am Shreyashi, one of your biggest and craziest fan of yours. I don't know crazy word is suitable or not because I never done any crazy thing for my favourite hero or anyone. I really love every character you played. After so many years now I got a chance to see Remix. Now I'm watching the show. I love it. After Mohan Bhatnagar you came into our life as shaurya urmi sinha & Krishna Sikhawat. Though both characters came into our life for too short but it took place in our hearts. After this I always feel that now if you will back on screen, then you will be back with a bang, and you did it. You come back to our life as Mohit Naik Raikar. I am seriously speechless. From introduction to end you give justice to the character. Specially the breakdown scene in the last episode is mind blowing. I never think that someday Mohan Bhatnagar will somehow fade from my mind & heart and any other character took the place but yes now Mohit took the whole place of my heart & can't get over from him & I'm not complaining. A big congratulations for your debut in web series. I really love your eyes which speaks a lot & also your sharp nose & long messy hair. In onscreen when you cry, you made us cry. When you laugh you made us laugh. Your simplicity connect audience towards him. As Mohan says "simplicity me hi sundarta hay" Though this line said by Mohan but you in real life or reel life perfectly follow this. That's why we never feel that you act in a scene, it's so natural to us. Love you a lot. Your fan Shreyashi
First Time I saw you in Nenjam Pesuthey (NBTNMKK) I was really really really Obsessed with you... Kunal is like an anaconda. He just surrounds us by his innocent gestures and then start to tighten up with his acting skills. He was one of the few actors who could perform any character in effortless manner. Nenjam pesuthey was my fav of his tv series. I would be happy if he could do a movie in tamil. There were many fans waiting for that moment (including me). Praveen De @crazyking_at_bluezone

MY JOURNEY WITH KUNAL KARAN KAPOOR One day when I was watching one of our regional channel I came across a serial âMOUNAMELANOYIâ means âWHY THIS SILENCE DEARâ. I got attracted to the male character Mr.Mohan Bhatnagar. At that point of time I donât know nothing about him even his original name. Then unfortunately due to unknown reasons the serial has been stopped in the midway. So I started searching for the serial in Hindi where I came across this great show of an unusual love story NBTNMKK. First I became a very big fan of Mohan. Itâs through Mohan I came to Know about Kunal Karan Kapoor. A big thanks to Mohan who introduced me to KKK. Mohan taught me two things through his character. First is âNever give upâ and the second one is the unconditional and flawless love. I started watching all his other shows and his interviews with his co-star Akanksha Singh. Kunal is a versatile actor who has shown versatility in all his characters.I love his negative character as Angad Yadav with paan in his mouth. I loved Yudi in LRL. I fell in love with Madonna. He is sooo beautiful and lovely. And the best part is the suicide scene. I get goosebumps whenever I watch it. He has portrayed it sooo well. Â
Kunal Karan Kapoor expressions are simple superb. He has a good talent Of expressing his feelings, emotions, anger and love with his eyes. Itâs a God given talent where nobody can do it. I love Shaurya in DAK. Inspector Krishna Shekhawat in WAS Varun in Remix. Amrik Singh in RSB. Sukhi Singh in Maayka. Monty in MMDB. Lawyer Subhash in a Music album ADDA. As a deaf and mute parent in Pregakem AD, and he has done a voice over for the show Bhindi. I am also a big fan of his photography. He is an amazing photographer. I love him not only as an amazing and flawless actor but also as person. I love his respect towards women in his life. He is sooo humble, honest and down to earth. He has taken a long gap that I was desperately and eagerly waiting for his come back. He came like a roaring lion with a WEBSERIES called THE RAIKAR CASE as Mohit Naik Raikar. Now I am sooo emotionally attached to Mohit that gives tears in my eyes. Kunal has portrayed it sooo well with his expressions and his flawless acting.
On August 22nd 1982 a shining star was born who has changed my life and whom I lovingly call him Kunal Beta. Vadlapudi Latha

Kunal Karan Kapoor is the person who talks with eyes, rather than words.Whenever he is in certain character it doesnât feel like he is acting. Everything looks soo real. Whenever he is acting happy/sad or crying or with any other co-stars, he is just perfect. His photography inspires me alot. How can anyone be soo perfect, itâs amazing...I wish to God, no evil eye wud ever bother you and you get whatever you wishes for. With lots and lots of love. Neha
After nbt I have seen many other shows and movies... But the impact a good show has on you is quiet long lasting that I only celebrate mohan megha and their love for these many years... I've become such like that when people say my name immediately the nearby one addresses as Mohan meena(megha) mental đ€ looks funny but it has that impact on me... I still look ahead for a bit of Mohan in all the males I happen to meet... I see him as a father, brother, friend, betterhalf, well-wisher and many more... And what else... I may not have met him but he is a part of my life in each and every phase of it... Secondly kunal is a step ahead of mohan... If I want a life partner like mohan I want a friend like kunal... He is such an inspiration for everyone... In the way he lives... Who lives a life of his dreams... Only very few... Other do a job and live a life of others choice... He acts for profession according to his wish... Travels and clicks everything for his passion and enjys it too..And hence he is always loved and is an inspiration for everyone either on screen or off screen... Hence he is the best person one could ask for... I wish he always has this happiness and peace throughout his life... Wishing him a very happy birthday đ â€ïž đ With lots of love. Janani @_._kunaksha__fandom_._

Mr. Kunal Karan Kapoor... My friends and I became a huge huge fan of you after watching " Naa Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha " serial which was telecast in Tamil... There was not even a single day which went without speaking about you, during those school days. You captured our heart, SpiderManâ€ïž Thank you so much for adding a charming chapter in my boring schoolhood. Wishing you all the happiness in the world. Wishing you a very happy birthday... With love, Aarthy @aarthy_chandran
Mr Kunal Karan Kapoor... I first saw him play Cadet Yudi Sahni in LRL and even though that has been his only show I watched him acting in...I knew from the first time that he was a very capable and amazing actor. The way he expresses through his eyes and tries to do justice to every role is commendable. I also saw him in the Raikar Case and can absolutely say he is a brilliant actor. His poise, his dialogue delivery, his ability to breath life into the characters he plays his remarkable. Yudi although was not the main focus on LRL...one can't help but smile at his impish charms and his childlike antics and innocence which was so precious and pure. His character development in Lrl from a determined yet lost young man to a confident, focused solider is worth mentioning. Yudi played by KKK really comes in his own by the end of lrl season 1. Also in real life Kunal sir seems a very genuine, polite, well mannered and courteous man ...all such admirable and precious qualities..I heard in an iv of Rajeev Khandelwal sir that Kunal sir used to have alot of fun with other on lrl sets and was a prankster. To sum up I'd say...I would love to watch of all his acting as he is one of the promising actors of our generationâšYudi was definitely one of the most endearing and charming characters i saw on itv all thanks to Kunal sir. Hope he keeps doing good work like he doesđâšAlso his comic timing in lrl was off the charts...so goodđđ...he was so entertaining and hilarious as " Madonna" and he never looked prettierđ
đđ€Łbut jokes aside he rightfully deserves all the praise for his acting ability and For being the charismatic and mysterious gentleman he isđ Amisha @leftrightleftfanpage
Hai Kunal sir. I'm your biggest fan from TamilNadu. I like your acting in NenjamPesuthe. It was so cute as like you. You are an expression king.please Comeback...My heart is getting stealed while watching you ...everything u have was outstanding acting especially anger and naughtiness makes me to become an addict...I wish u have a long life and be happy forever and ever ...continued your process until everyone become tired of describing you ...I wish to see you in front of my eyes in the birthday eve ...once visit tamilnadu and announce the good news soon we were eagerly waiting for that day to take selfie with you ,forget to go home some kinds of dreams to be fulfilled when u visit tamilnadu...Your eyes speaks more than your voice ...depth in your acting makes everyone to fall in love with easily... â€_ nivetha_N @nivetha_nagendiren)

As we are coming close to celebrate the birthday of our Kunal Karan Kapoor let me talk about the Character Cadet Yadhuvansh Sahni he played in the show LEFT RIGHT LEFT. Itâs one of my favourite character that he gave reel life. This character has his weakness. Itâs not that YUDI did not know his weakness but it was difficult for him to accept them. He wanted to change become like others and compared himself to others and felt inferior. But the day he accepted his weakness his life changed. He could make those his strength. My favourite scene was his talk with Shalini after he tries to commit suicide. One could see the confidence in him. This character taught me that itâs important to accepts oneâs weakness and one can convert them into strength. CADET YUDI THAUGHT ME THAT Â ITâS IMPORTANT THAT YOU FIRST ACCEPT YOURSELVES THE WAY YOU ARE. THANK YOU ROCKSTAR KUNAL KARAN KAPOOR FOR BRINGING YUDI INTO OUR LIVES AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY IN ADVANCE. Belicia
First of all ..i thank to kunal ..bcoz he give more friends đ€đ€ and they are support my drawings ...my first ever crush is kunal ..it may so many serial actors here but i still luv only kunal ji đđ ...and his acting is mesmerizing still i can't forget nbtnmkk ...one of my Fav character is mohan ..and he is very romantic and lovable person..please stay with us and my more blessings to u for lift in your life above and above ...and last you are my ever ever ever crush in my life ..i can't give your place for anyone đđđđđđđđ - Abarna

i always tell the truth, even when i lie...
{prologue pt two: how Kova is formed}
Mob Boss!David x Reader
A/N: hey guys, so this is just blurbs about how each vlog squad member became real members of Davidâs gang. I left some people out just cause they donât fit in the narrative Iâm picturing. But I hope you enjoy! Strong violence ahead folks, as well as the rest of the series! A couple deaths too.
âąAlex Ernstâą
Alex always knew something about David was off. He always thought he saw the charming brunette hiding dead eyes behind feigned excitement. Too calculated for a boy of only nineteen. But Alex saw himself reflected in every move the man made.
Alex could relate to his friend more than anyone else heâd ever met. He instantly respected David and latched onto him. You donât meet many people in this world who are as uncaring and unconcerned in the way they climb the ladder to the top as David and him were.
David hid behind charm and likability.
Alex hid behind innocence and religion.
Alex doesnât say anything about it until David comes to him one evening and tells him heâs going to see their friends at the Denny house to offer them... a new business venture.
He offers it to Alex first.
Alex says yes, took you long enough, what do you need me to do, who do you need me to act as? Willing as always to take on any role he had to, to get what he wanted (or in this case what David wanted).
David knows right away Alex will always be on a different level than the rest of the crew. Alex will be more his equal than anyone else he has to corrupt.
Because he doesnât have to corrupt him. He doesnât have to convince him. Alex is willing and as ready as he is.
Alex is also good with guns. He talks Tomas into letting them add a large gun running operations revenue to the drug running money theyâve been laundering. (Thatâs the first fucking nail in the coffin for Tomas, but the large, dumb man has no idea.) The weapon buyers and sellers like Alex way better than they ever like Tomas. Itâs a profitable situation for all.
In the car ride back to their apartment, leaving the first meeting with Tomas since Alex established himself with the weapons clientele, Alex says, âYour business needs a name.â
âIt has a name, the Brothersâ Circle.â
âThatâs the name of the cunts Tomas works for.â
âThat we work for, Alex,â David facetiously reprimands, pushing to reveal the true meaning behind his friends words.
âYeah,â he answers, looking out the window of Davidâs beat up Corolla, âfor now.â
It makes Davidâs heart fill with love for the man. His best friend is thinking bigger picture just like he is. He feels validated in his internal descision to make this man the de facto co-leader of his future gang.
(Alex comes up with their name, Kova, a throwback to Davidâs origins and core of who he really is. A boy born in nowheresville Slovakia whoâs gonna take over the world.)
âąLiza Koshyâą
Liza is like a lump of clay when Gabbie introduces her to David. Heâs immediately drawn to her soft face and lively personality. He wants to ruin her. (Gabbie pulls him aside at the party theyâre at, long before Kova was even a thought, and tells him sheâs a gift. For being a good friend. And that he can make the dark skinned girl into whatever he wants her to be. âSheâs young and insecure, go play.â Gabbieâs always been a dark minded girl, she used to read David like a book.)
He has fun reeling Liza in with his boyish charms and faked romantic sensibilities. Sheâs sooo easy. He picks apart her mind, morals and principles in one night, the night he first tells her he loves her.
Heâs not lying, not really. He loves who heâs going to twist her to be. His perfect Harley Quinn. Heâll rip the compassion out of her if he has to.
He doesnât actually have to, the girl is just a sweet little teenager looking for true love. It makes him laugh in hindsight at how simple it actually was. At how much goodness was once in the girl heâs seen curb stomp a drug dealer in the back alleys of LA because they refused to cut profits with Kova. She broke his jaw and David fucked her in his Tesla, giggling out a narrative of how the guys teeth popped out of his head while she rode him.
Liza would burn the world for David when he meets (Y/N).
She gets jealous and insecure by that fact that she needed to be programmed by David with a darkness that (Y/N) wore like skin, comfortable and natural.
You donât pose a threat, not right away.
And if you send her into a trap, a drug drop off that was being ambushed by a rival amateur gang, that leads to her untimely death...
Well, what were you suppose to do? David would never do it. Too proud of the work that went into the weak girl.
And you wanted the man to yourself.
(Heâs impressed, as you are smarter and more conniving than the guinea pig heâd been given as a present by Gabbie would ever be.)
Lizaâs there at the beginning of Kova and she plays her part. Until you decide you can play it better.
But thatâs a story for later...
âąGabbie Hannaâą
Gabbie is easy. She wants money and attention and acceptance. She hands over her merch account info and starts finding leads to other vloggers who have a substance abuse problem. They always have friends who are as addicted as them, Gabbie explains, which is long run profitable. The girl is ruthless and David admires that about her.
She was one of his first close friends when he moved to LA. Heâs stoked sheâs progressing so nicely in his operation.
David includes her in his plans from the beginning, because sheâs loyal and as obsessed with money as he is. But when he takes her to meet Tomas with Alex and Liza the first time, sheâs so freaked out. Gabbie doesnât grasp the severity of the situation until sheâs in a warehouse full of drugs and guns.
David meets with her the next day and offers her an out. Itâs late at night after the long, winding talk, but Gabbie is relieved and accepting that she can back out, promises not to tell anyone. He respects and genuinely cares about Gabbie and gives her what she wants, like promised. But not before Heath and Zane grab her arm and hold it down while David carves Kova into her upper arm.
Gabbie takes it, she understands.
Itâs not two months later when he gets a call from Liza telling him that Gabbieâs trying to talk her into leaving him and helping her go to the cops. (Gabbie mistakenly thinks that because Liza was her friend first that her loyalties wouldnât lay with David. Sheâs wrong.)
David brings Scott and Zane to grab her coming home from a late night gym session (that sheâs stupidly been Snapchat-ing all evening).
He doesnât need to torture her, but he thinks itâs a good lesson for Scott and Zane. The word will spread quickly through Kova.
You donât fuck with David, ever.
The man could have deep love and respect for you, but heâd put a bullet in your head without thinking twice and if you make him angry enough to hurt you before that, well... youâll be wishing he had just shot you instead.
The boys burn her body in the desert while David waits in the car and finishes editing his next vlog.
What a shame.
She was always reliable as clickbait for a thumbnail.
âąScotty Sire and Kristen McAteeâą
Scottyâs chomping at the bit when David first offers the dude a bag full of cash late in the early morning at the Denny house. He canât help the large, wicked smile on his face the entire time David spiels to the group.
Heâs in from the first sentence, desperate to channel the darkness his depression had cursed him with from childhood. He could do this, and much more. Scottâs excited to become apart of something bigger than him. Heâd happily worship the gospel of what would later be called Kova.
Kristen is easy to drag along, especially because of her addiction to pills and then later, more heavy drugs. Sheâll do whatever she has to keep her man and her fix. She turns a calculated blind eye to their dealings and separates herself as much as possible.
David doesnât like loose ends.
Word about Gabbie gets to her and she internally freaks out. She doesnât know why, she doesnât really care. Gabbie fucked up and got what was coming to her. But it feels like the calm before the storm.
David tells Scott he needs more from Kristen. He wants her to wear the Kova brand, he wants them all to after Gabbie tries to fuck them over. But he wants the curly headed girl to be first. Scott understands, heâs front row to the distance sheâs created between her and the Kova family.
Sheâs partying with them all when Liza lures her to talk in an isolated bedroom, where Scott, Alex and David are waiting.
âSorry, Kris. Itâs just how it is,â Davidâs telling her when Scott and Alex maneuver her to the desk chair while their leader cleans a knife. âAnd you should be honored, I want you to be the first. I want you to start the family. Cause thatâs what we are. Weâre a family above all else. You wouldnât betray your family, would you? You wouldnât be Gabbie... Would you?â
Kristen resigns to shaking her head no, allowing Scott to extend her arm as David encroaches and presses the tip of the knife into the sensitive skin of her upper arm. Liza and Alex stand back, watching and blocking the exit. Kristen looks to Scott who only nods his approval before shutting her eyes tight when David begins slicing her arm.
The bass of the music throughout the house muffles her screams.
(Scott feeds her Percocets when itâs over and promises her the world. Thatâs the night sheâs introduced to heroin.)
The rest of them receive the same mark personally from David by the end of the week.
âąZane Hijazi and Heath Hussarâą
Zaneâs psychotic. Genuinely a mad man, and David loves it as much as itâs a liability. Heath is a good reprieve though, knowing how to wrangle the crazed man.
Theyâre a fucking pair, thatâs for sure. And with Heathâs experience in drug dealing and Zaneâs past with beating the shit out of anyone who tried to stop or hassle Heath, they fit into Kova like theyâve been waiting their whole lives to be in the upper echelon of a gang. (They have.)
Heath is the guy David sends out to potential drug suppliers, such a people person and manipulator that David wishes he could bottle the manâs relatability to dose his entire crew with. The man has made him some serious fucking money with his banter.
Zaneâs the guy David brings out at night or to see Tomasâ men, to terrify the peasants around him into submission. Zane is his guard dog on a short, but removable leash. The taller man is always just looking for a good time, whether thatâs doing shots or breaking someoneâs arm.
With the boundaries of what it means to be Kova and family set, etched into his skin, Zane becomes determined to protect his new clan, and his new always changing and addicting life.
David buys him a Porsche after he beats a thug of Tomasâ to death with his bare hands. The man had insulted David, his height and his hair. It rolled off the leaders back, but set something alight in Zane.
David doesnât call him off until his hands are completely coated in blood.
(Tomas doesnât say a word except to tell his men to clean up the mess and apologize to David. The fat man slaps Zane on the back on his way out, murmuring, âThatâs a man you want around.â)
âąJason Nashâą
Jason is his personal sounding board. The man is so much smarter than he lets anyone see. Jay can see from the outside in, how people will preceive them and how to effectively hide in plain sight.
Jason has a family, so itâs a little more difficult to convince him to give David his loyalty. Until the money is presented and David offers his family a clear cut and prosperous future. And to keep them out of all of it. The older man says yes after a couple days of thinking.
David seals the deal by bringing him to Miami, meeting with some drug runners from Belarus. They try to haggle David, get the price higher that what Tomas had offered. Jason laughs at them and follows David when he goes to walk out.
One of the men grabs Jayâs wrist and yanks his hand back to the dinner table theyâd been sitting around and stabs his palm through with a steak knife, pinning him to the table in a bloody mess before hissing about disrespecting his boss.
Jason takes the knife out without flinching and stabs the guy in the aortic, blood splattering on his own face and chest.
âDonât try to fuck with us,â Jason says so calmly to the criminals watching in awe, itâs unnerving, âand keep a leash on your puppy.â
The boss from eastern Europe laughs and apologizes before continuing the transaction with the original offer. He gives Jason the dead manâs Rolex, as a token of good will.
David accepts.
âąTodd Smithâą
Todd is a guy who wants to be smart, and just fucking isnât. Heâs easy. Money, girls, drugs and Todd is fucking his. It only takes a itty bitty cocaine addiction and Toddâs loyalty is an ever lasting stream of favors and obedience.
Scott takes Todd to kidnap a daughter of one of the Mexican mafias generals. David wants to run a piece of West Hollywood that he currently controls.
David is highly impressed with the lies Todd weaves to the pretty girl, keeping her calm and placated through out the ordeal. Heâs even more impressed when Todd follows his orders to cut off her finger to send to her father; the olive skinned man doesnât think twice. And the girl is still stuck deep in her Stockholm Syndrome, even after she only has nine fingers.
They return her to her family, no worse for wear, when the general gives up his terrority in WeHo.
David rents out a Vegas strip club and penthouse for Todd. He did well.
âąCarly Incontro and Erin Gilfoyâą
Carly and Erin are too fucking excited about Gabbieâs death. He watches them pick apart the story from Scott and Zane, and laugh manically when David tells them too much detail about the torture she had endured.
They are great to use strategically with their seduction or mask of ignorance used as a weapon. He has them paired up with a couple of guys higher up in Tomasâ operation, waiting like sleeper agents for the day when David will tear apart Tomas and his men. Theyâll deliver the first bullets, crippling the obese excuse of a manâs team so that David can go in for the kill.
He had them train with Alex, who reports exactly what he had predicted about the girls: theyâre addicted to the perks, the money, the clothes, the power. They love David, theyâd do anything for their boss and friend. It makes David so happy.
Theyâre his favorite little princesses.
âąCorinna Kopfâą
Davidâs been working on Corinna since high school. She doesnât contribute anything but her tits really, he only needs her every once and a while to seduce someone before killing or maiming them. He gives her to Todd to make her happy and keep the overly horny man satisfied.
But sheâs loyal, has been since David met her. She tells David the things the vlog squad thinks he doesnât know. Sheâs like an internal mole, not needed in most moments, but useful when people start getting too big for their britches.
Like Matt King. Zane vouched for the guy, (Heath tells David privately not to trust his best friend because his judgment is always clouded when it come to new people offering him a good time) and David lets it slide.
Until Corinna comes over one day, leaving Todd at home to fuck David while he edits and Liza is in New York. The blonde is sucking his cock, when she pulls back and says,
âMatt is trying to convince Zane to move to Europe. Says he has friends in Amsterdam doing bigger things than Kova.â
David comes in her mouth and kisses her forehead before sending her off and telling her to round up Scott and Todd and send them his way.
David picks up Heath and Zane, asking if itâs true. Zane says yeah, but he thought the dude was kidding, they were drunk as fuck at Toddâs.
(Zane doesnât lie, he doesnât have it in him. Too insane to try to manipulate or spin his words like his best friend.)
Heath is livid when they meet Scott and Todd at one of their hideouts filled with money and weapons. David is tired and thinks this is a good opportunity to release the reigns a little bit. He tells the men what theyâre going to do and watches them plan how to end the bleached blond manâs life.
He leaves when theyâre loading up one of their nondescript SUVs and Alex is arriving. His best friend is grabbing his arm, halting his steps as he makes his way to the Tesla, leaning in and asking, âAre we gonna make him hurt before we bury him, or nah?â
David gives him what do you think eyes, and replies, âIf they come up with the idea themselves, Iâll buy them all fucking Teslaâs.â
The next day heâs purchasing four Tesla coupes and sending Alex an envelope showing the stock he now owns of Elon Muskâs company, valuing upwards of five hundred thousand dollars.
âąJeff Wittekâą
Jeff approaches David, which is a first. But Davidâs well aware of the manâs past before he introduces himself. Heâs just as dumb as his new friend Todd and more naive. He fits him to the same role as Todd after watching the man put a bullet between the eyes of a lackey that couldnât pay up fronted money David gave the guy.
But, Jeff proves way more useful than David ever could have imagined.
Jeff slaps down a duffle bag in front of David one day, oddly symmetrical to the way David had started everything. He says itâs a gift from his uncle in New Jersey. Thereâs two hundred and fifty thousand dollars in it along with a hard drive of incriminating photos, videos and documents on Tomas and his men.
âMy uncle doesnât like how Tomas runs the most lucrative port on the West Coast. You... you he likes, David,â Jeff tells him, crooked grin on his lips.
And thatâs how David finds out that not only is Jeff the nephew of the last Godfather of the Italian mob in the United States, but that the centuries old organization is actively courting him to take over.
He likes Jeff.
David still demands loyalty though, even from a man owned and born into the Italian mob. He doesnât get Kova carved on his arm, he gets it cut over his heart after he and Alex mentally break Jeff down over the course of a weekend in Davidâs basement.
âAnd what do you have now, Jeff?â Alex asks, as David finishes up the A in Kova with his dagger. The modelesque man doesnât flinch with the cut, he just stares ahead, tears dried on his face from a long weekend of reprogramming.
âA new family.â
David laughs as he wipes away the blood from the manâs chest and disinfects the wounds so they donât fester.
Heâs got international backing and a spy now.
David buys Jeff a nice house and spends an insane amount of money ruining his ex-girlfriends acting career. He likes the malicious look on Jeffâs face when he sees the tweets roll in, exposing Cierraâs MDMA addiction and several crude sex tapes from Jeff and herâs threesomes with a married director.
Jeff thinks he made the right choice.
Family over blood, always.
âąâąâąâąâą
Thatâs how the kids become Kova.
And how David builds his empire to reflect his strength.

The White Elephant in the Room
Pairing: Bones x Reader
Word Count: 2237
Warnings: none, probably a swear in there somewhere
A/N: Based on the prompt âCharacter Aâs best friend rigs the Secret Santa, because they know Character A has a crush on Character Bâ requested by @magicalaquarian. Hope you enjoy!!
After two years travelling through space with nothing but the stark white walls of the Enterprise to look at, the crew was getting restless. Shore leave was still months away, and, frankly you didn't know if you could take it. You didn't think Jim could either. He was in Medbay almost every other day with a new âinjury,â though more than once you caught him faking to shirk his duties for the day. While you were happy for a distraction, Dr. McCoy looked ready to kill Jim at any moment.
As the doors to the Medbay slid open for the first time today, you jumped out of your chair, hoping with all your heart and soul that someone needed help with a traumatic injury, not stopping to wonder if that made you a bad person. At this point, you were so bored you were willing to inflict one upon yourself just for the hell of it. To your dismay, it was just Jim. You sat back down with a sigh, returning to the scribbles you were doodling on a patient's chart.
âGee, you sure know how to make a guy feel welcome,â Jim quipped.
At the sound of a new voice, Dr. McCoy poked his head out of his office. His excitement turned to a scowl as he saw Jim. He glared at Jim with a pointed âNo,â before shutting his door again.
âOh, come on. Iâm not even sick today.â
âThat's the problem,â you mumbled.
âIâm sorry. Would it be better if I came back with broken legs?â
âBroken legs. Crashed the ship. Caused a minor outbreak of some foreign disease,â you shrugged. âIâm not picky.â
âSo let me get this right. You're mad at me because I'm too good of a captain?â
You dropped your head onto the desk, groaning in frustration. âWeâre mad because we have nothing to do.â
Jim sidled up to the side of the desk, mischievous glint in his eye. âYou and Bones could give each other physicals.â
âWe already did that,â you confessed, cheeks heating up.
âWell, then, I guess you'll just have to come to my quarters tonight.â
âFor the last time Jim, I am not having sex with you.â
âI...It's not...Scotty said the same thing. Why does everyone think I want to have sex with them?â Jim looked genuinely hurt. âIt's a party but you're not invited anymore.â
âWhat time does it start,â you called after him as he walked back to the Medbay doors.
â9 p.m. Oh,â Jim said, popping his head back inside, âand bring a present. It's a white elephant.â
You stared at the now empty doorway in confusion. The doors slid shut with almost no sound, allowing your voice to carry across the empty room. âWhat the fuck is a white elephant?â
Dr. McCoy sat back at his desk with a sigh, the paperwork in front of him dwindling thin. The past few weeks had been exceptionally quiet, and heâd managed to catch up on all the charts heâd let slip by. He even had time to read a few articles heâd bookmarked months ago on the future of robot-assisted surgeries. As much as he appreciated how far technology had come, Leonard was happy to stick with a human surgical assist for now. Especially, if that assistant was you. How you looked so damn good in OR scrubs Leonard would never understand.
His PADD chimed, bringing Leonard back to reality. Jim again. He rolled his eyes, pushing his sleeves up to his elbows and diving back into paperwork. Another chime. Leonard glared at the PADD, as if that would stop Jim from pestering him. Another chime. Annoyed, he grabbed the device.
Party at my room at 9!
That's an order ;)
Oh, and bring a present for your not so secret crush! Weâre doing a gift exchange.
Leonard resisted the urge to snap the PADD in two as he responded: Stop by for a physical. Must be something wrong with that corn-fed head of yours if you think I want to spend my night with you.
Jim responded almost instantly: :(
Bones stared at the text practically able to feel the puppy dog eyes Jim was giving him through the screen. It had been a long time since heâd had the chance to unwind, and an evening with Jim might actually be tolerable if you were there. Painfully, he typed his reply: There better be Scotch.
No sooner had he sent the message than there was a knock on his door. âDamn it, Jim,â he sighed, shoving himself up from his desk, âWhat is it? I already said Iâd go to your damn party.â
âSorry,â you said, popping your head around the door. âNot Jim.â
Bones scoffed. âThatâs nothing to be sorry for, sugar. Iâd take your company over his any day.â
You bit your lip to hide a smile. âJimâs actually the reason Iâm bothering you. I wanted to ask if I could take off early to find a gift for his elephant thing.â
âGee, donât know if Iâll be able to handle all these patients on my own,â Bones said wryly.
âWell, you are the CMO. I believe in you,â you said with a wink. âSee you at the party?â
âYeah, yeah.â Bones waved you off, already heading back to his desk. You laughed. He really was adorable when he was grumpy.
âOh, and Len,â you said, missing the way his ears always perked up when you called him that, âmaybe break out the civvies this time. Med Blues make people nervous.â
You looked around your quarters in a desperate attempt to find inspiration. Itâs not like you thought to pack gifts when you started the mission. There were a few books youâd already read through that could use a new home, but you doubted anyone would be interested in Mountains to Ash: A Field Guide to the Geology of Ragnar 9, although, the section on teracalcite formation was quite compelling...
âThis is stupid,â you muttered, dropping yourself on the bed. You stared at the ceiling, begging it to give you an answer. You wondered what kind of gifts everyone else would bring. Jim probably wouldnât bring anything, making a joke about how his presence was gift enough. Then heâd offer someone a few days off and everyone would scramble for it. Scotty would probably throw together a little sculpture out of scrap metal from Engineering. No one saw that side of him much, but Scotty was really artsy.
Then, there was Leonard. He was normally such a thoughtful gift giver when given enough time. Last shore leave, he found a galaxy opal pendant for you at a market. You still remembered how his hands felt brushing the back of your neck when he put it on you, how they lingered a few seconds too long. How warm his breath felt ghosting over the back of your neck. An inch closer and his chest wouldâve been pressed against you and it would have been so easy to turn around and kiss him like youâve wanted to do for so long.
âI need a drink,â you said to the empty room, running a hand down your face. Suddenly, you shot up, remembering the bottle of whiskey you had stashed in the back of your closet. Hopefully everyone else was feeling as stir-crazy as you and wouldnât mind a bit was missing.
Having finally settled on a gift, you started getting ready, allowing yourself plenty of time to shower and get dressed but still managing to wind up at Jimâs door out of breath and late. You smoothed the front of your dress down and focused on leveling your breathing as the door slid open. Your eyes met Leonardâs and, just like that, you were out of breath again.
It was a simple outfit, but god did he wear it well. His t-shirt hung loosely from his shoulders, front tucked into a pair of dark blue jeans that clung to his thighs like they were painted on. You sure wouldnât mind sitting on those. âYou know how to clean up,â you smiled, taking the opportunity to lean up and press a kiss to Leonardâs cheek. The smell of his cologne left you lightheaded in all the right ways.
âMama always said dress to impress.â
âOh, and who are you trying to impress,â you teased. You saw the faintest blush creep into Leonardâs cheeks, but before he could answer, Jim was whisking the two of you to the kitchenette.
Everyone was sitting around the island, already a few drinks in and eager to see what gift they were going to get. Jim divvied them out, sliding you a small package poorly wrapped in elastic bandage. âFrom your secret admirer,â he winked at you. Busy studying the package, you missed Bones kick Jim under the counter.
The gift exchange was more fun than you thought it would be. Chekov got an unopened box of Kit Kats that sent the room into an uproar. It was stolen five times before Jim threw his captain card into the ring and claimed it for himself. He almost immediately regretted it when he had to give up his present, which turned out to be the bottle of whiskey youâd anted up.
After a lot of squabbling, everyone opened their presents and all eyes were on you. You grabbed the end of the bandage and began unwrapping the parcel in your hand. You knew it was from Bones, and for that reason alone you were loathe to give it up. As you reached the end of the bandage, a small booklet fell onto the countertop.
Handmade was the nicest way to describe it: the pages were uneven and stuck out at odd angles from being stapled together in a hurry. To anyone else, the script would barely be legible, but you had plenty of practice deciphering Leonardâs chicken scratch.
âIt's a coupon book,â you announced, thumbing through the pages. âOoh, you might want this one Jim. It says you can put off the yearly physical for up to a month. No, no this oneâs better. It says Leonard will actually smile for an entire day.â
âLemme see that,â Jim said, already tearing the book from your hands. He stopped flipping through it and snapped his eyes up to Leonardâs face, grinning devilishly. âA full body massage in your private quarters. Bones. If I didn't know any better Iâd say you were trying to get our good friend here naked.â Bones closed his eyes but remained silent. The flare of his nostrils and tightening of his jaw said enough.
âOh, I want that,â Sulu cut in. âI am in desperate need of a massage.â He reached across the counter to grab the book from Jim but you reached it first.
âTake it and youâll need more than a massage to set you straight.â
Sulu remained in place, looking from you to Jim hesitantly. âIs that a gay joke orâŠâ Uhura coughed loudly, grabbing his attention. She whispered something in his ear and he glanced from you to Bones. âThat makes so much sense. Never mind,â he grinned. âIâll find a masseuse when we go on leave.â
You held the book tighter against your chest as you looked around the room. Every eye was on you or Leonard. Everyone seemed to be grinning at an inside joke the two of you werenât in on. Well, everyone except Bones, who looked as uncomfortable as you did.
âRight,â you said, clicking your tongue to dispel the silence. âSo Iâm gonna go.â You inched away from the counter, waving awkwardly.
âYeah, I think I, uh. I think Iâm gonna join ya,â Bones said, trying his best to ignore the scattered snickers that followed.
You waited until you were far enough down the hall to be confident no one was listening in before you spoke again: âWhat was that all about?â
âNothing Jim isnât gonna pay for later. Look, IâŠâ Leonard sighed, stopping in the middle of the hallway. He ran a hand through his hair and you had to bite back a whine. It really was unfair that he looked so good, even under fluorescent lights. âJim told me the gift was for you, and I couldnât think of anything else. You donât have to use those coupons if you donât want to.â
âOh, I want to. As much as you joke about your legendary hands, itâs about time I got to try them out.â
âNo, thatâs not - what Iâm trying to get at is-â
âLeonard,â you said gently, resting your hand on his elbow. You slid your fingers down his bare arm, relishing in the way your fingertips felt running over his skin. You watched your fingers interlock as if through a looking glass. Like this was a dream and you never wanted to wake up. âI think I know what youâre getting at, and if itâs okay with you, I think Iâd like to cash in on that full body massage tonight.â You peeked up at him through your lashes.
Leonard squeezed your hand, fighting against every nerve in his body that was screaming at him to run you back to his room. Instead, he brushed his thumb against the back of your hand, wondering if the rest of your skin would feel so electric. âI think that can be arranged.â

The Leather Look: Kirk x Reader
Prompt: âI audition to model in your music video and we end up hitting it off.â âAlright, Y/N. Theyâre ready for you. Good luck.â The manager gave you a thumbs up and you nervously nodded. You took several deep breaths and tried to fight against the flip-flopping of your stomach as you approached the set where the audition was being held. You were here to try to do some modeling work in the music video for pop star Jim Kirkâs new single. It would be a nice little payday and allow you to get a few toes in the door, so to speak: that is, if you didnât freak out and ruin everything. Jim Kirk was, well, stunningly good looking to say the least and the prospect of being in the same room as he was was causing your inner fangirl to pop up at the worst possible time. You really needed to act natural. The last thing heâd want is just another groupie.Â
Youâd been given instructions to slowly stride onto the set, lock eyes with Kirk, who was standing in the middle, and brush past him with a smirk, which was Easier said than done, wearing three inch heels, but you were used to walking around in such crazy heights, so as soon as you got your cue to approach Kirk, you pinned your eyes on him and walked in his direction. He slowly turned around to face you like he was supposed to and your eyes met for a long moment, before you flashed him a sultry smile and walked past. Holy crap, he was hot! The fake blonde was gone and heâd grown a bit of a beard, which was immensely flattering. The eyes were definitely just as pretty in person, and they looked right back at you with curiosity, that swiftly turned to interest. Were those leather pants? You thought as you moved past him, not daring to turn back around. âCut!â Called the guy filming the clip. âThat was fantastic. Can we get one more take at a slower speed?â âSure,â you responded. âSame path as before?â âYeah, only this time kind of brush against him as you go past,â the director suggested. Gulp. You looked at Kirk. He nodded approvingly, showing that famous smile that had fangirls everywhere gushing over it. So, back you walked toward him, this time coming much closer. Heart pounding, you tried to look cool as you edged closer, letting your fingers brush up against his as you passed. Again, you felt the full force of his blue gaze on you, and it sent tingles up your spine. Kirk really was unfairly attractive. He made it incredible difficult to concentrate and not break character. Somehow, you managed to keep your cool and parade across the rest of the set like you were on the red carpet. âVery nice!â The director, a ruddy, roundish headed man with some kind of lilting accent exclaimed. âWhat dâya say, Jim?â He asked the singer. âSheâs perfect,â Kirk said. You couldnât help but blush as you were beckoned over. âWow, That was great, Miss Y/L/N. I think we have a winner. Youâre a natural.â âWhy thank you. Itâs an honor to meet you, Mr. Kirk,â You said nervously, shaking his hand. He really did make the black leather and white T shirt an incredibly sexy look, but he seemed like a friendly guy, so you tried to relax. âCall me Jim,â He declared. âI canât tell you how excited I am to finally find the right person for the job. Weâve had to turn down quite a few eager fangirls who had obviously never done anything like this before. You look like youâve had experience.â âI have,â you confirmed, proud that heâd been able to tell that. âMostly just for young up and comers and such as I try to break into the scene, but this is a whole new level and a good challenge. Not that I think youâre a challenging guy to work with,â you hastily added, trying not to let your eyes wander. (Those pants left nothing to the imagination.) âOh, I can be VERY challenging,â Jim demurred, eyes twinkling at the director, whom he appeared to be good friends with. âCanât I, Scotty?â âAye, You can, lad. But youâre not a diva, so it makes things so much better. Iâve worked with some people who let their ego swell to the point they couldnât take a lick of advice. Iâll make sure the lass has fair warning of your quirks before filming.â He winked and you Decided you liked him. âWant to hang out while my people talk to your people?â Jim asked. âOkay.â You replied, mouth speaking before your brain could catch up. You just agreed to hang out with Jim Kirk? Like you were casual acquaintances? Were you crazy?â As it turned out, Jim Kirk was as gifted a charmer and conversationalist as he was at singing. He didnât even try to hit on you, only gave the occasional mildy flirty compliment. He asked you about your career and where you worked and what your goals were and you asked him how he got where he was and how he coped with the pressure and spotlight of fame. âI didnât handle it well at first,â he admitted. âWhich is why the playboy reputation stuck. Luckily, I have good friends and family to keep me grounded and kick my butt when I need it.â âLike Scotty?â You hinted. âYes,â Jim confirmed. âAnd Chris Pike and Leonard McCoy and Spock.â The names he dropped were all big ones in the industry and you were pretty impressed. âWow. Friends in high places.â âTheyâre great people though. Stuck by me through thick and thin. I hope you have the same. I hear modeling can be a tough gig.â âIt can be, especially when you donât fit the body type Standard,â you told him, still a bit hypnotized by how blue his eyes were up close. âI want to be the person to an open peoples minds and show them that anybody can do it, whether or not you  can see their hipbones.â Jim laughed. âThatâs awesome and I like you even more. I hope you live your dreams and change the industry. A lot of companies donât seem to know the difference between fit and emaciated.â You talked a little more before the hiring was completed and you went over the schedule with your agent. They even took measurements for the outfits you were going to wear. âSo, I come back here in two weeks for the filming?â âYes, maâam,â Jimâs assistant told you. âThank you so much for agreeing to this. If you have any more questions, donât hesitate to call me.â âSee you in two weeks, then,â you told Jim, shaking his hand. He smirked a bit. âIâll be looking forward to it.â On the specified day and time, you made your way back to the set and donned your first outfit, which was a sassy black mini, aqua t-shirt and awesome heels that you actually cooed over when putting on. There was a stint in the hair and makeup chair and you were pronounced ready. Jim was sitting in a folding chair, strumming his guitar and singing softly. You listened for a few moments, admiring his gorgeous voice before he looked up and noticed you. âDamn.â He said admiringly. âLooking good, Y/N. Just so you know, I did not pick the outfit, but itâs fantastic on you.â âThanks, I think,â you replied. âPlease tell me youâre wearing the leather pants.â âIâm wearing the leather pants,â he confirmed proudly, standing up to prove it. The filming took several hours and involved multiple clothes changes, ending up with you in a breezy yellow dress and Jim in khakis and a blue button down. The song was pretty cute and you heard it quite a bit by the time filming was finished,  going over to compliment Jim and wish him success. At the moment, the bad boy singer looked more like the kind of guy youâd bring home to meet your mother: wholesome, kind, and very handsome. âIt was great working with you,â He said. âI almost hate that itâs over. You think thereâs any chance we might run into each other again?â Trying to be casual you shrugged and answered lightly, âDonât know. Youâll probably forget all about me pretty quickly. Iâm just another girl.â âAww, thatâs just not true, though,â he protested. âI genuinely enjoyed working with you and talking with you. Iâm not just trying to get in your pants.â âSpeaking Of getting into pants,â you deflected, âHow in the heck did you get those leather things on? They look like they were a second skin.â âItâs not easy,â Jim agreed. âItâs a lot of slow inching and pinching. You liked them?â âMaybe,â You hedged coyly. âAnother possible reason to see me again,â he suggested. âGood point. Tell you what, if youâre still thinking about me in three months, call me. Your assistant has my number. If Iâm just a pretty face to you, youâll forget, life will move on.â Jim thought about this for a minute, expressive face going through a myriad emotions. âYou drive a hard bargain,â he said at last, âbut itâs a deal. Going to mark the date in my phone calendar right now.â He pulled out his device and started tapping away swiftly. âThere! All entered. Iâll talk to you in three months,â he said confidently. âWeâll see.â Your tone was cautious, But you smiled at him hopefully. You left the studio with a nice paycheck, possible future opportunities, and a tiny possibility of a date with a star. Three months later, Jim made good on his promise and called you, which led to a date and then a second one, and a third, and you found yourself falling hard for Jim T. Kirkâeven without the leather pants.Â

Merry Christmas, @ritarmandi!
This is a Secret Santa gift for the lovely ritarmandi. I hope you enjoy
Read on AO3

I believe in you
Stiles keeps tapping his fingers on the steering wheel, not even in time with the music just to keep his hands busy. He knows that the only reason Scott isnât going insane with it is that he has years of exposure to Stilesâs twitchiness. He is still giving him worried looks now and then, and he looks ready to ask Stiles to turn the car around and figure this out by themselves. They both know itâs not possible this time, but Scott is going to ask all the same.
-Are you sure about this, Stiles?-
Theyâve had this conversation before, but having evidence that Scott is worried for him makes his nervousness a tiny bit better.
-Iâm not sure about going to some remote place to learn magic, but I need to learn about my spark. I saved Lydia and I have no idea how thatâs too much of a liability.-
-And maybe itâll be like going to Hogwarts for summer courses right before my Senior Year.- Stiles tries to lighten the mood.
-I donât think you will be going to a magic castle with changing stairs. -
-No, but I will be going to a house near a forest outside a small touristic village, and while Hogsmeade was never explicitly stated as turistic I bet, as the only all-wizarding village in Britain, it had some tourists. And Iâm not allowed to take technology.- Stiles goes for one of his tangents.
It makes Scott laugh in exasperation, which is all good in Stilesâs book.
-And I bet Mrs Durkan has a huge library.- Stiles continues more seriously. -Maybe Iâll finally be able to find something about pack bonds between alphas and non shifters.-
-Derek said there are stories about alphas being able to talk with their packs through them; that would be neat.- Scott says
-I hope so, Scotty. Mrs Durkan is an old friend of Deaton, but hopefully, she wonât be as cryptic. It would be a nice change to have someone forthcoming in their teachings. Someone like Professor McGonagall.-
-Youâll be in trouble if she is half as strict as McGonagall.- Scott says laughing while they pass the Brantford city limits.
They follow the GPS on Scottâs phone uphill on a dirt road. It ends in front of a big stone house that has clearly been renovated to add huge windows. He parks next to the Toyota already in front of the house, and they get out to wait for his dadâs car. Scott and his dad had insisted they wanted to come, to at least see where he was going to stay, considering he couldnât call them.
Just as his dad is parking, a middle aged woman with a messy head of curly, blond hair in jeans and lilac sweater gets out of the house. Stiles canât refrain from quietly telling Scott
-Definitely not Professor McGonagall-
Scott laughs and nudges him towards the house. She has an unreadable expression on her face, and Stiles suddenly hopes she hasnât heard. He wants to make a good impression after all.
-Welcome, Iâm Mrs Durkan and you must be Mieczyslaw- she says with a small smile. Her pronunciation of his name is practically perfect
-That would be correct. Everyone calls me Stiles though. These are my father and my friend Scott-
-Yes, Alan told me about the peculiar situation you have in Beacon Hills- she comments cryptically -Please come inside, you can get settled in your room and Myt can give you the tour of the place.-
She touches the side of the door while they pass, probably manipulating some kind of protective ward. Stiles feels it, but itâs completely different from the wards at the animal clinic. He will have to ask what how they work.
***
The life of a Spark apprentice is far less eventful than movies made him believe. It probably doesnât help that only other two people live in the house, Mrs Durkan and her niece Myt, who is also learning magic. She is a druid, so she spends a lot of time in the greenhouse, but Stiles gets to help her sometimes and he genuinely enjoys talking to her about the supernatural world. She always thought Mrs Durkan was just that weird relative everybody has, but on her 15th birthday she accidentally made all the flowers in the house bloom, and two days later she got her very own âYerr a wizzard Mytâ moment.
Stiles spends his mornings learning about different types of magic users and where their magic comes from, and his afternoons reading about a whole lot of supernatural lore. The library is everything Stiles hoped for and more. Thatâs mainly what keeps him going: discovering about all kinds of different beings and the stories connected to them; particularly after the first couple of weeks when Mrs Durkan starts focusing on his spark and the ways to control it, which is not going well. Actually, two things keep him going, reading about lore and the letters from home. Well, from Derek mainly. Stiles gets a new envelope on his desk every three days like clockwork. He is discovering a new side of him. Apparently when he isnât rushed Derek enjoys talking, or, well, writing. Stiles has been telling him about some of the lore he is learning and Derek usually has something to add or a different version the Hale pack used to tell. Derek always sounds so earnest in writing, and Stiles canât help but find it endearing. Itâs starting to be a problem, the way his heart goes all over the place every time he gets a new letter from him. There is just something about imagining Derek sitting down in front of one of the big loft windows. If Stiles is being completely honest there is just something about Derek Hale. There always was, but he holds himself in a different way now. Like he finally managed to let go of some of his guilt, somewhere between getting back his yellow eyes and hunting the Desert Wolf.
A new letter is supposed to be coming, but Stiles is kind of regretting the last missive he sent him. He spent a good part of the letter complaining about Mrs Durkan and how her method for controlling his spark isnât working, and how he needs more information and she wonât give it to him. It was impulsive and heâs worried Derekâs answer is going to be âquit whiningâ.
Stiles actually really likes Mrs Durkan, she is fair and asks for a lot, but in a way that encourages you to get better. The problem, in this case, is that she wants Stiles to control his magic just from belief.
âChoose an appropriate rune, focus on it and believe it will happen.â she told him, just that morning.
-Easy to say, if only runes made any kind of sense- Stiles mutters to himself.
He is taking a break and walking one of his favourite hiking trails in the park, one with very few tourists. He has been pouring over the book Mrs Durkan has given him on the most common runes trying to find one that appeals to him, or at least one that he can interpret into creating something out of thin air with belief The source of the argument with Mrs Durkan is that Stiles wants a more advanced book, thinking that maybe having all the information will make some of the runes make sense. He feels like this is worse than Latin; at least, then, he had Lydia helping him. So much of this is left to affinity with the runes and personal interpretation, that there is only so much Mrs Durkan or even Myt can help him with.
Stiles is still lost in his head when he comes back from his walk in the forest, so he is startled for a second when Myt calls him to the kitchen.
-Stiles, there is something for you!-
Stiles follows her voice and notices the small package on the dining table.
-How was your walk?- she asks
-Uneventful, but it was nice to be outside. I hadnât realized how much time I spent in the preserve until I left Beacon Hills. Iâm not sure it helped with my rune problem, though-
Myt looks at him with a comprehensive smile.
-I feel your pain. But youâll get there.-
-Do you need help with dinner?- Stiles asks, unsure how to take the vote of confidence from someone he hasnât known for very long.
-Nah, I just have to keep an eye on the oven. Go open your package.-
Stiles, himself curious about what could be in the package, doesnât ask again.
Once in his room, he doesnât waste any time, tears the tape and opens it. Inside there are three different letters, two cards, a Moleskine and something wrapped in paper. The first card pictures a ghost saying âI believe in youâ and inside every member of the pack added his own iteration of a âYouâll figure it outâ message. The second card is from Lydia, and it says, in a nice calligraphy font, âItâs ok to ask for helpâ. She says to open the paper-wrapped thing next and explains that one should be very careful what he writes on his body with. Stiles canât avoid the laughter when he opens it. She got him an eyeliner pen and makeup remover. Itâs actually on point but only Lydia could find such a peculiar reason to send him makeup.
There is a short letter from Scott, which is normal. The guy doesnât have the patience for writing, and while he and Stiles can talk about anything for hours, it doesnât translate well to letter. There is a fairly standard letter from his dad, telling him about any news from Beacon Hills. It ends with âI hope everything in this package helps. Derek run around a lot to make it happen. Love Dadâ
The last letter is, as expected, from Derek. Itâs the exact opposite of what Stiles was fearing. He would never have expected unconditional support via post system.
Dear Stiles, I hope you worked things out with Mrs Durkan, I know you like to follow tangents and it can get hard to focus, but try to understand what works for her and then change, so that it works for you. Sometimes having all the information can get overwhelming. Runes are not exactly a language, but they are to an extent, and you donât want to add exceptions and weird combinations before you got the basics down.
I know you packed notebooks with you, but I thought the Moleskine could be something to record your own information and learning process on runes. And one can never have too many notebooks.
I told the pack to just give me their letters to add to my envelope in the future, so maybe some of the others will write more often.
I look forward to hearing from you Sincerely Derek
Stiles knows rationally that he has the support of his pack, but having them come together to remind him when he needs it is a bit overwhelming. And he canât help thinking how far Derek has come and how good an Alpha he would be now. How good of a boyfriend really, but thatâs not a road he is willing to go down. He tries to focus on the present itself and the job he still needs to do. He is not closer to the solution about the runes, but he does believe in himself a bit more now.
He doesnât feel like going back to the rune book before dinner, so he starts thinking about magic users he knows from tv and video games. One that comes to mind, since he is also thinking about runes, is Geralt of Rivia. Muttering âMight as well tryâ he takes Lydiaâs pen and draws on his arm the triangular spiral that is the Aard sign, he doesnât want to set his room on fire after all. He closes his eyes and tries his best to believe that a spell from a video game can work. When he opens them again the room is suddenly a mess. As if a telekinetic wave got released and moved everything that wasnât nailed down. Holy shit, it worked.
He goes to dinner with a lighter heart, and ready to ask Mrs Durkan about slavic runes and magic.
***
Stiles has made some decent progress in the last days. While the Glagolitic alphabet (possibly the most ancient slavic alphabet) doesnât make much more sense than the runes he had been studying previously, he finally understands what Mrs Durkan meant when she was talking about runes calling out to you.
Like Vedi which is the action of knowing and Uk that stands for knowledge. They both call to him in different contexts, and itâs bugging him that on paper they are so similar, but he has some kind of intrinsic understanding about their usage.
According to Mrs Durkan, the next step is combining them to get more nuanced results. But for now, heâs going to the post office, sending a letter to Scott on a few things he managed to find on pack bonds. There are also letters to his Dad, Lydia and of course Derek. He has carefully drawn protection runes on the sides of the letters, a little additional protection in Beacon Hills can never hurt, and if it doesnât work it counts as practice.
But itâs going to work because he believes in it.
He also spent a good half hour drawing symbols on his arm just because you never know when you might need them. There is a Zivethe for âlifeâ and a Nash for âoursâ, Dobro for âgoodâ, and all the spells from the Witcher, because he is a nerd at heart. And fire, telekinesis, shield, slowing down and confusing enemies make for a good combination to have on hand. If they all circle the Hale triskelion thatâs just because he is missing home and he is not going to draw Scottâs circle pattern because itâs stupid.
He is waiting at the post office when he notices the lady next to him in line. There is something supernatural about the way the light reflects in her eyes and the way she holds herself like this is not the skin she is most comfortable wearing. Stiles is almost sure she is not a werewolf but she could be a different type of shifter. She notices the name on the envelope on top, Derek Hale, and seems immediately more interested in Stiles, while trying her best not to let it show. She is not very successful and Stiles has a bad feeling about this. He tries not to fidget too much while he waits in line, both to avoid acting suspicious and so that she canât read any of the other addresses on the envelopes, for example, his dadâs.
As soon as heâs done he rushes back home and goes to find Mrs Durkan. Hopefully, she can help him figure out what that was about. And if it turns out she is after Derek, he needs to warn them. All the more reason to put some more belief in those protection runes.
***
Derek is on his way back home from one of his usual border patrols in the preserve when he starts feeling watched. Itâs a discorcenting experience, he canât smell anything out of the ordinary and none of his enhanced senses are giving him any kind of clue. Nonetheless, the feeling is there and Derek has learned to trust this kind of instinct. He considers his options for a moment: running to the relative security of his loft and risk leading them to his home, or investigating further and seeing what is watching him. But if this was anything good they would have introduced themselves. They could just be gathering information on the pack before approaching, but following Derek in the woods doesnât seem like the most convenient way to do that. He decides for a strategic retreat and a call for backup. Heâs dialing Scott while keeping most of his attention on his surroundings, but he still doesnât see the attack coming from his side. Derek rolls out of the way after the initial impact and drops the phone, hoping Scott will pick up and hear the commotion. He devotes his attention to the man in front of him, who doesnât waste time and lounges again, claws out, trying to land a hit on Derekâs side. The guy is fast. Derek barely moves out of the way, but it leaves him open on his left side, a move his opponent probably expects. He braces himself for the feeling of claws ripping his skin but they somehow fail to connect and they barely scratch him. The guy seems more surprised than Derek, but he quickly recollects and tries again with a combination of movements Derek has no hope of predicting, let alone countering. Derek is somehow unscathed again and the guy shifts into a puma with bright blue eyes, ready to attack again but when he does he somehow only manages to rip his jacket out. It looks like a standstill, but Derek can feel something is different. He needs to try and land his own attack before his opponent realizes as well, but his experience in fighting big predators is almost null, so he improvises and lounges for the back of the beast, trying to claw his neck from behind. They roll on the forest floor and Derek howls in pain as claws rip his back. He holds onto the puma and finally manages to draw some blood as well, only for the puma to shake him off, making him land on the grass. Derek takes half a second to get his breath and when he sits up, Malia is sprinting towards him and the puma is nowhere in sight. By the time he is standing on his own, and picking his jacket up, Stilesâs letter still in the pocket, Scott has also reached them.
They are both asking things to Derek, who doesnât know the answer to half their question when his phone rings. Itâs an unknown number and Derek just puts it on speaker, whatever it is it either regards the whole pack or is not relevant right now. He does not expect to hear Stilesâs panicking voice.
-Derek?-
-Stiles? Iâm here with Scott and Malia, whatâs wrong?- suddenly he can focus a bit better again.
-I think someone might be after you, where are you guys?-
-In the preserve...- says Derek
-Derek was just attacked by a werepuma- adds Scott
-What? Are you alright? -
-Iâm healing, it was a beta, fortunately. Do you know what they want?-
There is a pause over the phone
-Your blood. We think they are trying to do a ritual that requires a few ingredients like that. But they probably donât have the full description, itâs in a book in Mrs Durkan library and weâve seen the werepuma trying to get close to the house. Or one of them, if there is one in Beacon Hills as well-
-Are you safe?- Derek asks
-And how much blood are we talking about? Could the guy use the residue on his claws?- says Malia
-No, it takes quite a lot, I wouldnât worry about that- Stiles assures them quickly
-What does the ritual do?- asks Scott
-Supposedly it can give the alphaâs power to a target, but from the way itâs formulated there is going to be a catch somewhere. If it worked people would have been using it, the ingredients are rare but not impossible to find-
-What about the ritual itself? Do they have a magic user already with them?- asks Scott
-Could be. I couldnât smell him before or during the attack until he shifted- says Derek
-That could be a problem. Iâll go ask Mrs Durkan about it.-
-Ok, in the meantime weâll get the rest of the pack and see what we can find about the werepuma- says Scott
-Ok, Iâll call you when I have information. Stay safe- says Stiles
-Stay safe- they echo before the line goes dead.
***
Stiles wakes up in a warehouse, chained to a chair. There is a metallic stench surrounding him and for a moment he thinks itâs just to mask his scent from his pack, then he realizes that on the table in the corner are what looks like several vials of blood, jars of powder and various fresh herbs. When he tries to get his hands free, a weird pull makes him realize that they are also talking blood from him, and that canât be good. He vaguely remembers seeing the woman from the post office, a werepuma, with the corner of his eye before getting hit in the head. And then nothing, until waking up. She obviously moved him somehow, they are nowhere close to Brantford, judging by the size of the warehouse, and hopefully, she moved him toward her partner, which could mean he is closer to Beacon Hills.
Stiles tries to focus his magic enough to get free, but he canât reach the runes heâs written and there is a headache slowly creeping up to him, so there is not much he can do.
And then there is a man there, freakishly fast, and Stiles is used to werewolves. Hopefully, he is the guy that attacked Derek and there are just two werepumas on a quest to become alphas. The guy removes the almost full vial of blood and the needle, which Stiles had tried his best not to look at. Stiles clearly miscalculated the whole situation, but itâs time to do what he does best, talk and buy time.
-So, what do you want? Iâm sure there were easier ways to get some blood than kidnap me.-
-We just need you for some magic, the blood was a nice bonus. We donât need it, but spark blood sells quite well. I must admit I hoped for more of a challenge, misleading you into believing we were after the ingredients instead of the caster was childsplay.-
-You do realize that I just started learning how to use my spark, so itâs just as likely that Iâll mess everything up-
-I donât think so. You see, itâs in everyone best interests that you do it right, I had just started playing with Derek but he was already bleeding so very nicely for me- he says smiling as if remembering a happy moment. Itâs Gerard Argent level of creepy, and Stiles has zero ideas on how to get out of this one. He doesnât know how long he has been missing for, or how far away the pack is.
-Who are you guys?-
-You donât need to know that. Now, would you rather we keep on hurting your friends?-
-Ok- he says after a moment to get himself together- What do you need me to do?-
As if on cue, the female puma enters in Stiles field of vision, like she is in charge here.
-We need you to perform the ritual, of course.-
-Which ritual?- Stiles tries to stall
-You see, I was supposed to be the alpha, but my sister stole it from me. You are going to make me an alpha, thatâs all.-
-How did she steal it? Thatâs not how it works.- Stiles canât help but ask
-None of your business. Now, are you ready to start?- she asks
Stiles flinches, and the time is conveniently right so that hopefully she wonât get suspicious. Scott just somehow shouted in his ear that they are on his trail and to hold on. When this is over, Stiles is going to spend a week learning how to sense and use pack bonds, but thatâs his least pressing problem.
His friends are coming for him, but he still doesnât know how long it will take. Considering how much time he spent ranting about villains talking too much and revealing their plan he realises his hypocrisy in hoping to get more out of this guys. It would have been nice though. His best bet is going along for now.
-Iâm ready.- he says not even trying to hide how terrified he is. -Iâll need the ritual description first, I havenât learned it.-
-There is not much to it- she says giving him a single page- just mix the ingredients in order and add magic.-
-The description on the book was five pages long, where is the rest?- Stiles tries to stall again
-Just possible side effects, nothing that concerns you.-
She holds a single clawed finger close to his heart
-Now, time to start.-
***
Stiles has basically memorized the steps when he finally asks for them to bring him the ingredients. The pack is getting closer, but the female puma is getting more restless by the minute, looking ready to stab him and start looking for someone else to do the ritual. Stiles has a quarter of a plan that is completely dependent on his ability to believe, and on the pack being close by the time he is done with the ritual. Itâs the kind of situation where the Force would come in handy, with its tendency of putting people in the right place at the right moment. Time to focus. The ritual requires him to add the ingredients in a certain order and mix a determined number of times, clockwise or counterclockwise depending on the ingredient and, considering the bad guy of the day is watching his every move, the whole thing reminds him of Potions with Snape. Thatâs not what he was thinking about when he said he wanted the Hogwarts experience.
There is power growing with every new ingredient, with every new stirring motion. Stiles has a fleeting thought to all the people they fought who wanted to accumulate this kind of power, and for a second he understands the pull. But this is not for himself, he is not worthy of the mantle of an alpha.
He is adding the last ingredient when the guy looks up suddenly more alert and leaves the room to investigate something. Stiles mixes the horrible concoction three times clockwise, then touches the small triskelion still on his forearm and believes with all himself that the power will go to the most deserving person he knows, Derek.
There is a deafening roar outside, and the female puma looks at him with panicked eyes. She is coming towards him but gets intercepted by Scott jumping through a window. And between the blood loss and the amount of magic he used, Stiles is out for the count.
***
They are half way back to Beacon Hills when Stiles wakes up. His eyes take a second to focus, to realize where he is, and murmurs
-Did we win?-
Lydia laughs from the front seat
-We won, two less power-thirsty werepumas in the world.-
Then he lays eyes on Derek, who is holding his hand.
-Stiles- he starts, and he doesnât really know how to go on.
There is so much they need to talk about, how Stilesâs runes managed to protect him just by having a letter in his jacket, how he made him an alpha. How apparently Stiles is now his emissary, just by virtue of having given him power. How Stiles has a triskelion surrounded by symbols on his arm that were burning bright blue when they got there and has since slowly started to fade to black.
He doesnât know where to start, and Stiles still looks so tired. They are going to have time to talk about this, and maybe if it all goes in the direction Derek is hoping for, there might be a confession of feelings to make.
For the first time since Kate, that doesnât scare him.

Okay so Ik I already sent in one but Shiftab for the meme deal please :)
meme me up, scotty (ACCEPTING)
acts like theyâre dying when they have a cold
Tab is a drama llama to the extreme -- but mostly because he knows how doting Shifty becomes when he gets sick. Shifty will fuss over him, with blankets and medicine and the sweet ginger tea. Itâs a little like being a kid again, having his mom taking care of him, and Tab eats it up.Â
gets mad at the TV and throws the remote
Shifty, surprisingly. He doesnât mean to get mad, it just sort of happens (he can get very passionate about nature documentaries, and sometimes seeing a cheetah chasing down a gazelle is a little too exciting). It only happened once, because when he threw the remote his aim was perfect as ever, and he broke the entire TV. Heâs been careful never to do it again.
gets the worst road rage
Neither of them really get road rage, but they both like to go fast. Tab is unashamedly the person who cuts people off in the middle of the road. Heâs the person other people get road rage at.Â
packs the whole closet for an overnight trip
Tab will bring four bottles of cologne, three tubes of toothpaste, eight dress shirts, five ties, eleven pairs of underwear, and two boxes of condoms. Theyâre going on a weekend trip.
hates the in-laws
Tab just feels a little... out of place in Shiftyâs family. Shifty comes from a small, very tight-knit community, and his family is equally close. While theyâre all very nice to his boyfriend, Tab canât shake the feeling of not being âone of the familyâ, so he doesnât hang around very much.
hits the snooze buttonâŠ11 times
It all depends on how Shifty wakes up. He has no problem waking up on his own, but when thereâs an alarm set, heâll resist waking up with every fiber of his being. It doesnât matter whether itâs 6am or noon, he hates anything waking him up.
makes the other late for work
Tab is always up for getting frisky, even when he knows they really shouldnât. Shifty tries to be stern, but itâs so easy to get sucked in by his boyfriend that sometimes he just canât resist.
uses the television as a babysitter
Shiftyâs great with kids! Heâs genuinely interested in them, loves playing and getting to know them, and thinks theyâre adorable. (Heâs all of his nieces and nephewsâ favorite babysitter.) Tab, however, was under the impression that all kids were either babies or tiny adults, until he actually met one. He panicked -- he does not know how to deal with all these questions, stop touching that, no he doesnât w ant to play dragons -- until he eventually takes pity on himself and lets them watch a rated-R movie until bedtime.
takes in the stray dog
Tab, obviously. Trigger is his baby, but takes such a shine to Shifty that Shifty may as well have raised him since he was a puppy.
suggests a 3am trip to McDonaldâs
leaves their shoes out for the other to trip over
canât make up their mind when it comes to dinner
Theyâre both fantastic cooks, so the rule is that the chef decides dinner. Itâs less of an argument over what to eat as it is whoâll be doing the cooking.
needs to be reminded of all their appointments
Tab will forget about something until the last minute, panic, and then run out of the house with his shirt still unbuttoned. Shifty just crosses his arms and waits until he runs back in, remembering that he forgot his shoes.
picks the movies
Shifty is usually content watching anything, so Tab picks his favorite movies to show him.
takes the safety steps when building a pillow fort
Pillow forts are serious business in their house. Tab focuses on structure, while Shifty is responsible for materials. Cheap blankets wonât work -- they need full on comforters, fluffy pillows, and the best sheets they can find. Tabâs the one who figures out how to hang the fairy lights, while Shifty sets up materials for sâmores in the kitchen. Pillow fort nights are always a lot of fun for them!
kisses the otherâs injuries better
This is Shiftyâs go-to whenever Tab gets hurt. It doesnât matter if itâs a gash, scrape, or papercut -- heâll kiss the cut to show Tab that heâs here and taking care of him.
kills the spiders
WELL, IT'S CERTAINLY NOT TAB. Shifty doesnât kill spiders; he catches them and lets them go. Tab, however, has a severe phobia of everything creepy-crawly, so heâs more than willing to let Shifty handle it. (If he spots it first and  screams like a little girl, his boyfriend wonât make fun of him -- much.)
hogs the blankets
Shifty doesnât mean to, but he might steal the blankets without noticing. He likes being warm at night -- and Tab, who knows Shifty puts up with enough annoying habits from him, lets him have it. Shiftyâs like a heating box anyway -- itâs a lot more pleasant to just cuddle up to him.
takes pranks too far
Tab has only played a few pranks on Shifty, who took it in good humor -- but he just couldnât. Heâs like a puppy, it almost feels cruel -- until Shifty pranks him right back. Even Tab will admit he had it coming.
makes the dirty jokes
Tab is the one who makes the dirty jokes, Shiftyâs the one who flushes up like a firetruck.
keeps a piggy bank
Not a piggy bank, but Shifty has an old music box of his motherâs in which he keeps at least three hundred dollars, âjust for a rainy dayâ.
has no problem having ice cream for breakfast
Look, Tab has only done it once. He was hungover, remembered next to nothing of the night before, and woke up in the bathtub. He needed it, okay? (Shifty walked into the living room, found Tab eating strawberry ice cream straight from the tub, and slowly exited back into the kitchen. He made his boyfriend enough coffee to fuel an army that day.)
gets a tattoo when theyâre drunk
His best friends are Popeye and McClung, who are both horrible influences when theyâve had got some alcohol in them. They all thought it would be a great idea to get matching tattoos -- of each othersâ initials. It was very awkward when Shifty had to explain to Tab exactly why âRWâ and âEMâ were both tattooed on his hips.
trips over their own feet
Theyâre both pretty coordinated, but when heâs tired Shiftyâs usual surefootedness gives out on him. Itâs not so much that heâs clumsy as it is he just doesnât want to walk. Tab has had to carry him home more than once.
makes the other go for a walk
Theyâre both the outdoors-y types, so neither of them really have to âmakeâ the other go for a walk. One of their favorite things to do is go hiking in the mountains together.
whines until they get what they want
Shifty rarely whines, but when he does (usually when heâs tired, drunk, or just wants something bad enough) heâll give Tab puppy dog eyes, to great effect.
tries to act tough but really isnât
Tab doesnât try to act tough, he is tough -- but there are some things that effect him more than he likes to let on. Heâs actually a really emotional guy, and for a while he was sure heâd never find a partner who would love him like that. In that sense, Shifty is a blessing to him, and he appreciates his boyfriend ever chance he gets.
talks the most, says the least
Tabâs an outgoing sort of guy who loves telling stories and joking with his friends; Shifty could listen to him talk all day long.
talks the least, says the most
Shifty can say remarkably little with just a few words. Itâs one of Tabâs favorite things about him.

Authorâs Note: This is my entry for @yourtropegirlâs Ballerina!Reader challenge featuring, you guessed it, Jim Kirk. I had a lot of fun writing this; although I love watching ballet, due to my health issues Iâve never been able to consider taking lessons. It was fun getting to learn about it. That being said, I have had this betaâd (thanks @kilismaiden!) for accuracy, so I think everything Iâve said rings true. Please enjoy, my dears!
---
âHow are we coming, Lieutenant?â the Captainâs voice jarred you from your concentration. Whipping your head around to look at him, you took a moment to repeat what heâd just asked you in your head.
âAll good, Lieutenant?â he asked with a furrowed brow.
âYes, sorry, Iâve just been really focussed,â you explained, shaking your head and taking a step back from your terminal. âEnglish sounds like Romulan in the midst of all this math.â
Kirk grinned at you and fell in next to you to look at your work. The warmth radiating off of him seeped through the sleeve of your dress and his smell came in its wake. You and Kirk were friends, so you stood near him enough to know that it was one of those scents that piqued your interest in exactly the wrong way to maintain a close proximity comfortably. To sate yourself, you shifted your weight alternately from one foot to the other, brushing his arm with yours as you moved closer to him.
âYou think youâll be able to figure it out on your own?â Kirk asked, straightening himself and looking at you.
âIâm sure Iâll hit it relatively soon,â you said, lining your ankles up so that the inside of your right ankle touched the outside of your left and you pushed yourself up on releve, stretching your legs for the first time in what felt like an hour and meeting Kirkâs eyes straight on.
âYou let me know if you need a break, alright?â Kirk said with a grin.
âAye, Sir,â you winked at him, lowering yourself back to the floor. âI want to have something to present to Mr. Scott before I take anything resembling a break, and I think Iâm on the brink of this one.â
âSounds good,â he started walking away and you leaned against the console, placing both palms on the edge.
You waited until you couldnât hear his footsteps anymore before lifting your leg behind you as high as you could while keeping a straight back. The stretch burned, you hadnât practiced your arabesque in nearly a month. You set your leg down and lifted the other one, reveling in the blood flow the movement stimulated. When you touched your foot back down your circled your arms from your hips up above your head and reached upward before releasing the tension in your body and looking back at the screen in front of you.
âThat was very graceful.â
You jumped and turned around. Kirk stood in the doorway watching you with a crooked smile.
âI didnât realize you were still here,â you said, reaching up to scratch the back of your neck.
He smiled and tipped himself back to look down the hall.
âYou sure you donât need a break?â he asked.
âI can just stretch it out here, but thank you,â you felt your face heating up as you turned back to your terminal, hoping heâd leave.
You heard him chuckle as he left for good this time, footsteps fading down the hall. Breathing out heavily, you rubbed your face and tried to get back into your calculations.
--
The calculations you made helped get the Enterprise moving again. Or moving enough to get back to a starbase where you could undergo real repairs.
Repairs, you received word, would take at least a week. Which meant shore leave came early this quarter.
The bar Chekov dragged you to would have been pitch black but for the blue and purple glowing edges to all the furniture and the flashing lights above the dance floor. Ever the gentleman, the young man bought the first several rounds for your table.
The DJ switched songs and the piece he switched to made your heart jump. It was a favourite of yours, an electronic remix of a very old piece of music from the early twentieth century. You used to dance to this particular mix when you practiced, and you occasionally still put the piece on when you were in your quarters.
Chekov seemed to recognize the piece from your collection as well because he looked at you with a devilish grin on his face before grabbing your hand and pulling you down from your stool.
âOh, are we dancing now?â Scotty asked, suddenly looking excited after spending the last two hours grumbling about the warp core.
âYes!â Chekov shouted over his shoulder, yanking you onto the dance floor and beginning to dance.
He pulled your arm up over your head and spun you around, pulling you deeper into the crowd. You felt two bodies tuck in close behind you and you turned to see Scotty and Kirk grinning down at you, moving in no particular rhythm to the beat. You grinned up at them and started swaying in time with the music.
âY/N!â you heard Chekov calling for you over the din. You looked over your shoulder and saw he had his hand held out through some people in the crowd. You took it and let him pull you in.
A dance circle opened up in the middle of the floor and there was a man in the middle doing a very impressive freestyle routine. As he finished up a young woman stumbled into the circle and tried to do a pirouette but nearly tipped over laughing.
âYou should go do something,â Chekov encouraged you.
âYeah, get in there,â you heard Kirkâs voice somewhere behind you. You turned to look at him but came face-to-face with a tall alienâs chest instead.
âIâve seen you dance before, go, go,â Chekov poked at your sides with a huge grin.
The music suddenly slowed as another man finished what he was doing and you took a deep breath before stepping into the middle of the circle. What the hell were you going to do?
The music was about to pick up. You swivelled around, letting your body do what it does best. You chose Chekov as your starting point, beginning an adrenaline-charged series of fouettes that drew raucous cheers from the crowd around you. Stumbling slightly as you finally stopped spinning, you blushed at the whistles and applause. Chekov reached out for you and clapped you on the back as you pushed back into the crowd, eager to get out of the circle.
âZat voss amazing!â he cried.
âI had no idea you could do thaâ!â Scotty exclaimed, high-fiving you.
Kirk just smiled at you.
The four of you watched some other dancers take the circle. Eventually you started to feel claustrophobic in the crowd, so you eased yourself between the bodies to get back to the tables. As you got through the thickest part of the crowd, you felt a hand close on your shoulder. Glancing back you saw Kirkâs outline in the dim light. You led him through the people and back to your empty table.
âThat,â he began as he sat down in the chair next to the one you claimed. âWas absolutely amazing.â
âIt was alright,â you blushed. You didnât like sharing your dancing with people much these days because youâd been away from it for so long. âThere was a time when I could do it on pointe. I could get so much more momentum, and I was more stable in those days.â
âWell, it was well done nonetheless,â Kirk smiled at you. âHow long did you dance for?â
âAbout eight years,â you said, brushing your hair out of your face with your fingers. âI stopped when I got to high school; I needed to focus on my grades. Math wasnât always my strong suit.â
âWas it just ballet?â he leaned in and, much to your surprise, he looked genuinely interested.
âIt was mostly ballet, but I tried tap and jazz for a while as well. I started lyrical about a year before I quit and I think that if Iâd kept going I would have gotten more into that.â
âWhat did you like about it?â
âIt was the flow, I think,â you looked at your empty drink glass.
âCan I buy you another?â he asked.
You grinned.
âIf I have another I might not be able to do that again.â
âWere you planning on doing it again?â he asked with raised eyebrows and a laugh.
âProbably not,â you thought about the soreness developing in your legs; you really should have thought to stretch before coming to a bar with a dance floor.
âThen, let me buy you one,â he stood up and walked through a small group of people to get to the bar.
What came over you youâd never know, but you stood up and followed Kirk quickly between the tables and the people, going up on tiptoe as you squeezed through the tight space until you were close enough to close your hand around his elbow.
He turned to look at you with a raised eyebrow.
âYou want to get out of here?â you asked.
His other eyebrow went up to meet the first one.
âMaybe grab a drink somewhere else?â you elaborated, sidling in closer to him.
âYeah,â he said, pulling your arm through his and leading you to the door.
As you made for the exit, Kirk looked over the heads of the people for a moment before he shot his free arm in the air, waving in the direction of the dance floor.
You stood on your toes to see what he was looking at and you saw Scottyâs hand in the air in the distance, his familiar ring glittering in the pulsing lights.
âDo you have anywhere in mind?â Kirk asked as you emerged into the chill of the evening air.
âNot in particular,â you looked up and down the boardwalk, scrambling for an idea. âCoffee maybe? Or, I found a nice bottle of Merlot while I was out this afternoon.â
He looked down at you.
âLieutenant Y/L/N, are you propositioning me?â he asked with a sly grin growing across his face.
You looked sideways at the playful face above you and tried to come up with something mysterious and sassy.
âMaybe.â
Close enough.
He laughed out loud, throwing his head back before looking down at you again and releasing your arm.
âIâll take you up on your wine on one condition.â
âShoot,â you responded, swinging your arms at your sides.
âI want to see you dance more,â he put his hands in his pockets and watched you as you thought about his request.
Shrugging, you tucked your heels together and started spinning down the sidewalk, an easy chaines turn, before transitioning into a few simple moves. You hadnât danced in a long time in earnest, and it felt freeing and natural to move your body through these positions. Finally you stopped yourself as you realised that Kirk was nearly forty feet behind you, stopped cold and smiling softly.
You smiled at him, taking a bow, and took a few steps toward him as he started walking again to catch up to you.
As you met halfway, you opened your mouth to say something but he wrapped an arm around your waist and pulled you in, tipping you backwards slightly as he brought his face to yours and kissed you, laying his other arm flush with yours as you clutched his elbow for support. He stood you upright before pulling back.
You blinked up at him as enormous flakes of snow began to fall. A few got stuck in his hair and began to melt. Turning your gaze to the sky, you watched as a flake came right down between your eyes.
Kirk laughed and wiped the water away with his thumb.
âIâm glad this Starbase is on a planet,â you mused. âI havenât seen real, honest-to-God weather in a dogâs age.â
Kirk made a sound of agreement and looked up at the sky, too.
âSorry if Iâm asking too many questions,â he said after a moment. âItâs just been a long time since Iâve seen something so⊠normal, I guess. Itâs all computers and 3D chess and foxhole reminiscing up there. Dancing seems like a dream.â
âI understand,â you agreed, taking the opportunity to reach up and wrap your arms around his neck. âHave you ever danced?â
âTwo left feet, Iâm afraid.â
When he smiled the soft skin around his eyes crinkled.
âMaybe I can teach you a step or two,â you laughed, standing up on releve so your nose was on par with his. âEveryone needs to know a few steps, never know when youâll need them.â
âIt goes something like this, doesnât it?â he placed a hand at your waist and offered one on your other side. You glanced down at it before settling yourself back to the ground and taking it. He faltered at your expectant look.
âFollow me,â you laughed and nudged your thigh against his as you started leading him in a simple box step.
He stared directly down at his feet. You took your hand off his shoulder and pushed your fingertips against his chin to make him look at you.
âDo it by feel,â you murmured, reveling in the blueness of his eyes against the white of the flakes that were falling around you. You started to pull him down the sidewalk as he became more comfortable with the order of movements.
Suddenly your foot slipped out from under you and you started to fall. His hand at your waist wrapped completely around your back and he held you aloft until you could regain your footing. He pulled back and took your hand.
âYou alright?â
âYeah,â you shook yourself, surprised at the jarring motion.
âLetâs get inside, this might be safer in bare feet,â he stepped ahead of you and pulled you with him down the sidewalk to barracks.

'Big Brother 20' Runner-Up Talks Jury Vote Format, Meeting His Favorite Alum
The milestone 20th season of Big Brother quickly garnered the praise of viewers as being one of the best seasons to ever air.Â
Now, imagine growing up watching the longtime series and hoping one day to compete in the game you learned to love.
For 23-year-old Tyler Crispen this dream became a reality. And not only did he play the game, he fought until the end and walked away a winner.Â
Sitting next to Kaycee Clark as the final two contestants of the season, he didn't technically end up with the winning title and the $500,000 grand prize, but he was voted as "America's Favorite Houseguest" and walked away $75,000 richer. And the experience was "the best summer of my life," he tells The Hollywood Reporter the morning after finale night.Â
Below, Tyler talks further about his journey in the game, why he thinks he came in second place, the future of his showmance with Angela Rummans and what it was like meeting the Big Brother legends he's watched for so many years. Would he ever want to play against them?Â
Congrats on everything. You and Kaycee both played stellar games.Â
Dude, thank you. I really appreciate that.Â
As a super fan of the game âif you were watching the finale from home would you have said that you should have won?
Oh man! I always say whoever won deserved it. It's all about how you work the jury. Kaycee deserved it. She had the personal relationships better than I did. And I was a nervous wreck before those speeches. I couldn't get across exactly how much I played.Â
Fair enough.
(Laughs.) You know what's up!
Did you really upset that many people in the jury?
They couldn't see how much I was doing behind the scenes. It was hard to get that across because we were such a solid alliance, and I don't take any of that credit away from them.Â
Would you change the current format of the jury?
I don't think I would. Yeah, there have been a lot of emotional votes the past few seasons, but that's because the world is changing. People are changing. People are taking things to heart more. It now just adds another level of strategy that you have to throw into your game. I was always aware of that, but I feel like that was the hardest thing for me to try and get it across to the jury in the right way. You have no way of knowing what they're thinking. I wouldn't change anything.Â
Why do you think you won the "America's Favorite Houseguest" prize?
That was the biggest shock of my entire life! It feels better than a win. There was a thing in my head that said, "America does not like you." But I feel like they saw how passionate I was about the game and I just let everything out there. I didn't think I could cry, but I cried a lot! I played the game to the best of my ability.Â
Who have you voted for to win "America's Favorite" in the past?
I remember voting for Victor [Arroyo] for sure. In [season] 16 I voted for Zach Rance because he's entertaining as hell. I like the entertainment that people bring. It didn't cross my mind that somebody could get first or second and "America's Favorite."Â
It doesn't happen, but because you played such a great game they must have said, "We have to give him more money."
I cannot believe it!Â
Why do you think viewers voted for Brett and Haleigh as well?
Brett was the biggest character of the season and was in a power alliance. Haleigh was such a genuine sweetheart. Even though we were against each other in the game I had nothing but love for her. I knew anything I would tell her she would tell her alliance. That's why we didn't get close.Â
How did you hide being a super fan of the show? You slipped up mentioning the Safety Servant from Big Brother: Over the Top. Alex Willett is "pissed" you didn't win.Â
(Laughs!) Oh, I know! I put it in my brain that I watched a little bit of season 16 and a little of 19 and people believed it too because the long haired surfer dude is probably a recruit! Obviously a recruit! Had no clue what was going on. It was the easiest thing ever to believe and I just stuck to it. I made myself believe it, (laughs.)
You said that Ika Wong is the queen.
She is!
And Derrick Levasseur is the God. Who is Tyler Crispen?
Tyler Crispen is the random dude that showed up and somehow made it on Big Brother and got "America's Favorite." I'm nowhere close to them whatsoever. I never will be.Â
Which alumni that you met in the house this season were your favorites?
Meeting Josh [Martinez] was cool! There's just something about Josh. He has such an energy. And meeting Derrick was like meeting a God. That was the hardest thing for me when they did that proposal not to freak out! I wanted to explode. They were all legends there.Â
What have you learned since the finale about the game that is the most surprising to you?
The JC vote with Kaitlyn and Rockstar! He was fifth in my head when thinking who could have done it. That was crazy. He was the most adamant about Kaitlyn leaving.Â
Was there anyone based on first impressions that you thought you were going to align with and are glad you didn't?
Bayleigh. I truly like Bayleigh so much and then in the first competition when she yelled at me for putting the dot in her [tube]. How am I supposed to work with you? You're yelling at me in front of everybody! It really disappointed me too because Bayleigh's beautiful, I loved her personality, but from that moment on I just knew she was not going to be somebody I could work with.Â
Are you going to her wedding with Swaggy C?
I don't think I'll be invited, but if I'm invited I'll totally go. I know Swaggy is so mad at me. All he said to me [last night] was, "We'll talk. We'll talk." I love those guys. I really do.Â
If you were on the other side of the house would they have done better?Â
They tried to get me in on it and I said, "Let me ask your leader, real quick." I asked Swaggy and he said, "Nah. That's too big of an alliance." And I said, "All right cool! I don't want to be a part of it anyway, thanks." They had no clue what was going on ever! If I joined them I wouldn't have made it to jury. I picked the right team and we stuck to it.Â
Fessy getting out Scottie how did that happen?
(Laughs!) That was awesome. That was JC's doing! And that's what we needed. I don't get it! And then Fessy voted for Kaycee to win he told me because she got him out. Whatever. It's Fessy, man.
Which jury vote surprised you the most?
In my head I always thought either Fess or Scottie would vote for me. People say they were surprised by Sam's, but I always calculated that Sam would vote for Kaycee over me.Â
You could see that JC was emotional before getting voted out and was hurt by it. What did you and Kaycee tell him?
After the feeds went off we talked to him before the show and said, "It's been Kaycee [from the beginning.]" It was especially hard for me because he really thought I was his number one. He always had my back. And he was a part of every blindside. I thought sitting next to him not only would I lose, but I'd be backstabbing Kaycee. We owed it to him to tell him. It was a tough conversation.Â
You and Angela are going on The Amazing Race, right?
What!
Joking, but would you do it?
As long as I get to hang out with her and don't have to pretend that we barely talk. I want to hang out with her right now! It turns out she has a little extra space in L.A. and I might go crash over here for a little bit and see how things go.Â
Kaycee said she'd pick Rachel to compete with against you and Angela on The Amazing Race. What do you think about that?
She picked Rachel? Oh, Kaycee, come on! Rachel! You know who would win. Angela and I would crush them. But Kaycee and I would probably crush Angela and Rachel.Â
If you won the final four veto would you have taken Angela to final three?
I knew for a fact that winning it would not only destroy a game relationship, a jury vote, but it would destroy a personal relationship. I was truly stuck. So I knew they both would take me and that I couldn't win that veto.Â
You threw it?
Yeah I threw it. I'm the biggest idiot in the world for throwing the most important veto of the summer, but it worked. I could not make that choice. It was my best friend and the love of my life.Â
Where does "Level Six" rank compared to all the alliances who have played before you?
In my head I really felt that we had to be one of the top alliances. We were loyal, we always had a plan and won so many competitions. Even when we were up against the wall and had to get rid of our own person it was a blindside. I feel bad for Winston. I wish he was there a little bit longer.Â
Are you going to play the game again? Which Big Brother legend do you want to play with?
You know I would play again! I don't know if they're going to ask me, but I would definitely play with Ika. We would probably end up hating each other! But I love Ika. I would play with Derrick and Zach Rance. I would probably get voted out first, but I'd play with anybody again. This was the best summer of my life.Â
Should Tyler have won the game? Were you team Kaycee? Sound off in the comments section below and stay tuned to the Live Feed for all things Big Brother.Â

Katy Perry suffers wardrobe malfunction on otherwise perfect 'American Idol' episode
Katy Perry takes a tumble. (Photo: ABC)
Katy Perry, with her impeccable comic timing and seemingly genuine affection for the contestants, is doing an excellent job as a new American Idol judge, as evidenced by Sundayâs expectations-surpassing reboot premiere. But she probably wonât be invited to be a World of Dance or So You Think You Can Dance judge any time soon. Monday, when she attempted to bust some sexy salsa moves during one audition, she landed flat on her backside â and flashed that backside, along with her frontside, to everyone on the set. (Itâs a good thing she didnât suffer such a wardrobe malfunction at her Super Bowl performance a couple years back!)
Katy laughed off the wacky incident, as did her fellow judges, Luke Bryan (who quipped, âThere are some things a man canât unsee!â) and Lionel Richie (who awkwardly straddled Katy as he helped her get up, joking, âThere are some things you have to do for the business!â). TV hilarity ensued â and the way Luke and Lionel leapt to Katyâs aid demonstrated that these three already share fantastic onscreen chemistry. Kudos also to the producers for creatively employing the oval Idol logo as a well-placed censor bar and keeping this show family-friendly.
youtube
As for the contestant at the center of this ruckus, Venezuelan dancing queen and self-described âshow-womanâ Michelle Sussett, she was entertaining as well, and Katy admired her âchutzpahâ and âfearlessnessâ â though I think Luke was exaggerating when he dubbed her âthe next damn Jennifer Lopez.â There were many other contestants who figuratively knocked me off my feet (and one that even got weirdly close to Katyâs feet). Below are my favorite auditions from Monday.
Mara Justine, 15: âLove on the Brainâ This spitfire and Idol superfan took Rihannaâs song to church and back with a growling, vampy performance. Such sass, such spunk, such soul! She had enough confidence to make Michelle Sussett seem shy, and she earned a standing ovation and instant golden ticket. âThis is a top 10 ⊠Thatâs worth doing American Idol,â gushed Katy.
youtube
Griffin Tucker, 15: âLady Madonnaâ A Kurt Cobain lookalike playing a groovy piano Beatles tune, with a voice deeper than Scotty âBaby Lock Them Doorsâ McCreery? Whatâs not to love? âYouâre 15, but youâre like 7,000 years old,â said Katy. âYour level of talent is staggering,â raved Lionel.
Griffin Tucker sharing his music/ gift(s), inspiring the world!#AmericanIdol @gktrocks pic.twitter.com/g0F42jGDaY
â Kevin Wayne Woodward (@KevinWWoodward) March 13, 2018
William Casanova, 26: âA Song for Youâ This flirty, overconfident womenâs shoe salesman seemed like a novelty contestant, but then he showcased a smoky crooner voice (Lionel called it âsmoooooveâ) that lived up to his cheesy, self-appointed surname. His foot fetish (he was way too excited about Katyâs well-manicured toes when she handed him his golden ticket) was a little odd, though.
youtube
Brandon Diaz, 21: âUnawareâ Meet the the Constantine Maroulis (or maybe Michael Johns) of 2018. With his pinup-worthy curls and bedroom eyes, Brandon is major heartthrob material. But heâs also the âbest male singer weâve seen so far,â according to Katy. His falsetto on the Allen Stone staple was âvery cleanâ (said Lionel) and âbadassâ (said Luke), and thatâll be his real secret weapon on the show.
youtube
Trevor Holmes, 27: âIn Case You Didnât Knowâ Here comes another heartthrob! Trevor (whoâs crushed on Katy for years) and Katy had a moment as he serenaded her, altering Brett Youngâs lyrics to âKaty, Iâm crazy about you!â I feared producers were about to have another Paula Abdul/Corey Clark scandal on their hands ⊠until Trevorâs girlfriend rushed in, just as Katy was flirtatiously handing him his golden ticket. Alas, Trevor and Katyâs romance was not meant to be. But with his lovely, intimate singing style, Trevor could still go far.
youtube
Laine Hardy, 17: âHurricaneâ Meet the Phillip Phillips of 2018. This shy Louisiana bayou kid had such a swampy voice (no pun intended) on the Band of Heathens song, with gravel, grizzle, and grit that was practically Tom Waits-level. I did not expect a voice like this! Laine is my favorite male singer so far. âIf you ainât careful, you might win,â proclaimed Luke.

Gabbii Jones, 20: âDangerous Womanâ A âfull package and then some,â this delightful, vivacious soul/pop dynamo could be dangerous competition. There was some BeyoncĂ©-level slayage going on here. Lionel was so impressed, he got up from the table and hugged her. âThere are things we can tone down,â he said of her over-the-top personality, âbut the basic core of you is exciting.â

Thaddeus Johnson, 25: âDonât You Worry Childâ Thaddeus tried out before â eight years and 162 pounds ago â and after becoming nearly suicidal following his Hollywood Week elimination, he dropped his excess weight (see before/after photos below) to improve his vocal stamina. And that he did! I loved his silky R&B rendition of Swedish House Mafiaâs EDM smash. Another congratulatory hug from Papa Lionel ensued as Lionel told him, âYouâre here for a reason.â

Rissa Watson, 17: âWhen We Were Youngâ This small-town guitar girl needs to work on her playing, but she gave me Crystal Bowersox vibes with her sparkling country vibrato (âthe voice of an angel,â said Luke) and effortless delivery. âI got full body chills,â said Katy.

David Francisco, 25: âIsnât She Lovelyâ After being paralyzed from the waist down in a car accident just three weeks after moving to Nashville, this Casey James look-alike made a miraculous recovery and is back to pursuing his dream. His coffeehouse cover of the Stevie Wonder classic was pretty and pleasant, but what made his audition truly stand out was how he serenaded his supportive fiancĂ©e. Their pure love was so evident that an emotional Katy sobbed. (Maybe she was imagining Trevor Holmes singing to her that way?) Another Lionel hug followed, as he told David, âYouâre an inspiration to us all.â

And so, an inspiring first week of auditions comes to a close. I dare say, the talent this season totally eclipses that of The Voice this year. Can Idol make a real TV comeback? Watch this space.
