People know you and Damian belong together, no doubt about it. With making your relationship public and years later your marriage, which was also the talking gossip around Gotham for a month or two, everyone knows. But some people are too stubborn to the fact, you learn that very early in your relationship when women would just throw themselves at your lover's arm clinging to him as he tries to pray them off with an annoying expression, thinking that the son of Bruce Wayne would have the same Playboy persona just like his father, but they’re wrong forgetting the Damian Wayne is in fact, the most loyal man when it had came down to your dating and now marriage.

He would rather be with you than any other woman on earth, and for some, it was hard to face reality. You’re grown used to it over the years. But sometimes it just grows a spark inside of you. Much like tonight, in the Wayne manor that now belongs to the two of you. After Bruce’s retirement, it’s now Damian’s job to throw those galas and charity events, much to his dismay.

Secretly you do the work because he wasn’t given the gift of organization at all. So now you stand back, watching everyone. Happy with the way the nights going as you sip on your glass of champagne, it’s different front the rest. Damian thinks you deserve better than the champagne and wine that’s given out to the others. You spot his brothers in the crowd and other familiar faces that belong to a few close friends. The last face you spot was your husband, chatting away with men from his workplace. A forced smile on his face. It makes you chuckle, as a kid he hated them, and even as an adult he still does. But it’s more tolerable, well kinda.

You spot a random woman stumbling towards the ground of men, obviously sober as she tries to act intoxicated for the hell of it. She leaps for Damian’s arm that’s on his side, ignoring the one that holds his drink. He doesn’t shake her off, instead, he lets out a fake laugh along with the others around him.

That’s new you thought.

This went on for more than ten minutes which was a surprise. Normally it would’ve taken him less than five to shake them off, but instead, he’s standing there letting it happen. Which was a surprise. They’re having conversations, sometimes other people would chime in here and there.

Damian says something you can’t hear, and the woman laughs, giggling loudly to the point where you can hear her from the other side of the room. She laughs like it was the funniest thing she’s heard all night.

The horrendous laughter dies down, and she stares. Directly at you. She stares at you with a sly grin that paints her red lips. You frown and glare, gripping your glass. Almost breaking it until one of the servants comes up to you and offers you another drink, which you gladly take without a second thought.

The glare you send is hard, most people can sense it, the chilling aura that spills from you. Damian’s quick to sense it, he’s good at it, with a quick look towards you as you stare down at his arm— he gives you a genuine grin. He shakes off the women.

“Apologies. My presence is needed elsewhere” he gives a side eye down “with my wife” The woman was not happy, pouting as he watched her target leave her sight. But she puts on a facade and leaves, probably off to find another arm to cling on.

There’s a shit-eating grin plaster on his face when he walks up to you, and all you could do is roll your eyes—taking a big sip out of your drink in your hand.

“Zawjati?” he called out “Why are you here all by yourself?”

“You just seemed a little busy with your groups of friends” you hum “I didn’t want to ruin it”

The grin on his face softens, arm stretched out towards you, and you take his warm hand without a second thought. “Don’t be jealous” he chuckles “Everyone knows I’m all yours”

“Why would I be jealous?” You scuff, he was right but you would never admit that to his face. You lean into him closer, bringing him down to your level—lips brushing up against his ear “When I’m the one that ends up taking you straight to the bedroom right after every time”

hi guys this is the first time in a while that i've written something so i hope that you enjoy. i just recently rewatched lord of the rings and i'm obsessed with aragorn again so here are some headcanons!

aragorn x gn!reader

Aragorn is the biggest gentleman ever. You basically won the lottery when you started dating him.

The lyrics “In a world of boys he’s a gentleman” are about him 100%. Taylor Swift you are not slick at all.

Do not be fooled by his rugged looks, this man is the biggest romantic. He will plan the most romantic dates for the two of you even when he’s busy trying to be King. Even when he’s busy with his kingly duties he will still find a way to shower you with affection. Whether it’s leaving little love notes on your nightstand or bringing you a flower bouquet, he always wants you to make sure that you know that he’s thinking about you.

Aragorn’s love language is through acts of service. He wants to do everything for you. You are his first priority. You’re not feeling well? He’ll drop everything in his schedule to make sure you’re alright. Your weapons aren’t clean? He’ll clean them no problem. You’re cold? Bro will gladly take off his shirt and give it to you so that you’re not cold anymore.

When you guys were trekking through Middle Earth this man made sure that you got as much rest as possible

“Aragorn it’s my turn to take watch” you had said, rubbing your eyes with exhaustion. He walked over to you and put a hand on your shoulder. “You’re still tired, rest, sweet one, I’ll take care of it.” “But-” “No buts,” he said as he pushed you down gently. “Alright well I’m taking your shift tomorrow night,” you grumbled as you put your head in his lap and immediately fell asleep.

Let's just say he didn’t let you take the shift the next day.

He is soooo overprotective of you. He’s always been very protective over those he cares about but he’s especially protective over you since you’re his number one priority. Aragorn's actions are driven by genuine concern and love. He simply cannot bear the thought of losing those he holds dear and will do whatever it takes to keep them safe.

He’s the person who taught you how to fight. You were so embarrassingly bad at first but Aragorn never once made fun of you. He was patient even as you started getting annoyed with training. He was determined to make you a great fighter and it worked.

During the fellowship, you fought fearlessly alongside Aragorn and took down hundreds of orcs together. At one point, Merry even playfully called you guys a power couple because of how hard you both fought together, which made you both grin at each other.

You and Aragorn are basically the hobbits’ parents. They all love you so much and look up to you both with the utmost respect. You both admire them a lot too. Their loyalty and determination never fail to inspire both of you to keep going, even when things get tough and the future feels uncertain.

You’re also best friends with Gimli and Legolas. They have so much respect for you. They are also always trying to one-up each other when it comes to you so they can be your favorite. Spoiler alert you could never choose between them!

Gimli often pretends to be grossed out by displays of affection between you and Aragorn, and likes to tease the two of you with mock disgust. “Oh, just get a room already!” he’d say which would make you and Aragorn laugh. However, deep down, he secretly harbors a soft spot for romance and enjoys witnessing the love and affection between you two. He may grumble and groan about it on the surface, but in reality, he finds it heartwarming to see the bond you share and the happiness you bring each other. 

Aragorn isn’t really big on PDA but once you’re alone together, he's affectionate and attentive, making sure you feel cherished and cared for in every moment you share.

In public, he keeps it subtle with affection, but every now and then, he'll gently caress your palms or hold your hand, just enough to let you know he's there. It's his quiet way of showing love without drawing too much attention.

This man loves to give you forehead kisses. Whether you're feeling on top of the world or weighed down by the challenges of the day, Aragorn's forehead kisses are his way of saying that he’s always going to be there for you.

You often find yourself snuggled against his chest, your hand resting over his heart while his arm encircles you protectively. His fingers trace gentle patterns on your skin, a soothing sensation that relaxes you. 

He also has the softest singing voice. It’s so pretty. He mostly sings old Elvish tunes but sometimes he’ll sing some songs in English.

You and Aragorn both share a love for animals, and you often find yourselves adopting stray creatures in need of a home. He's clearly a dog person through and through (I don't make the rules), but he has a soft spot for cats as well.

You love it when Aragorn tells you stories about his past. Whenever he starts recounting his adventures, you're all ears, completely mesmerized by his past. Secretly he loves your fascination with his stories and it fills him with a quiet sense of warmth.

You have a shared love for adventure and often find yourselves exploring new places together, whether it's hiking through scenic landscapes or just going around Gondor.

He is also the best listener. You tend to yap a lot but he does not seem to care at all. He will listen attentively, asking questions every so often, drinking in your every word. He always wants to make sure that you feel heard. 

Aragorn also dreams about starting a family with you. He's always imagined the joy of being a father and raising children together, but he'll only take that step if you're both on board and excited about it. Your comfort and readiness are his top priorities, and he wants nothing more than to embark on this adventure together, hand in hand.

A few days later, Eddie books the weekend of the Cardinals game off from work no issue. Bobby is practically giddy to send him off.

“This will be good for you, Eddie,” he says. “I’m really happy to hear you’re meeting, well, literally half way.”

“Thank you, Bobby,” Eddie says, cheeks a little warm. There’s something about encouragement from Bobby that goes further for him than most people. He sees why Buck is sort of hooked on it. It’s easier to believe in yourself, when Bobby believes in you.

For a second, Eddie has the strange urge to tell Bobby everything. To come out to him. To tell him all about therapy and Charlie and that he really is doing better. He’s being better. He thinks Bobby would be proud of him. 

But he doesn’t say anything. 

His mouth simply doesn’t open when his brain tries to convey the thought.

Buck is, of course, ecstatic for him. 

They chat about it while restocking the engine that afternoon. He’s tried texting Charlie about it, too. But he must already be traveling to see his brother, because he hasn’t replied yet. 

“Man, this is great,” Buck grins at him when Eddie explains the situation. “This is going to change things. I can feel it.”

“You can feel it, huh?” Eddie raises an eyebrow.

“Yep,” Buck insists. “He’s going to be surly at first, but then he’ll realizes how much he misses you, and he’ll go back to El Paso, and your mom will annoy him-”

“Wait, what?” Eddie asks. 

“You think you’re the only person on earth who finds her annoying?” Buck asks.

“Should you be insulting my mom?” Eddie asks, genuinely unsure.

“Yes,” Buck replies. “After what I witnessed in May? Yes.”

“Fair enough,” Eddie mutters.

“Anyway, your mom’ll get on his nerves, and he’ll be less angry, and he’ll remember, hey, Dad is never this uptight, and boom, you’ll be booking flights to go get him,” Buck says. 

Eddie smiles softly. “I think it’s a bit more complicated than that. But I appreciate your optimism.”

Buck shrugs. 

“Name one time in my life I’ve ever been wrong about…” Buck trails off, looking at a point beyond Eddie. His expression changes. “Uh, hello? Can we help you?”

Eddie looks over his shoulder to see a tall, familiar looking man walk into the station. He’s dressed in street clothing, bouncing car keys back and forth between his hands. It takes Eddie maybe three seconds to recognize him in person, rather than over Zoom. 

Charlie.

Charlie… 

Why is Charlie here?

“Charlie?” Eddie asks. 

Charlie stops short. “Eddie?” 

Buck looks between them. “You guys know each other?”

“Wh-why are you here?” Eddie asks. “I didn’t… I didn’t tell you where I worked.”

“You work… You work here.” Charlie’s face is pale. “This is… Oh, Jesus.”

“You’re not here for me,” Eddie realizes aloud. “You’re here for…”

His brother.

All at once, the dots connect in Eddie’s brain. Like tiny, individual puncture wounds. The brother who’s an addict. Dead sister-in-law. Dead niece and nephew. Both of them left their home state… Now, all Eddie can see is the identical hazel of their eyes. Oh fuck. 

“Eddie?” Buck asks.

“I’m sorry,” Charlie blurts. “I had no idea. Eddie, I had no idea.”

A fourth voice enters the conversation, a few paces away from Buck and Eddie. 

“Guys, what’s going… Charlie?” 

Bobby.

“Okay,” she says, then takes a sip of juice. 

“Alright, so,” Buck says, then trails off a little. This is harder than he thought. “Well, you know I’m a firefighter. And that’s kind of my favorite thing. But… Uh, I also like to cook. And be active.”

Why is he saying this like it’s a dating profile? 

“Uh, okay, and… I have an older sister. Maddie. I have a niece. My best friend, Eddie, he’s also one of the firefighters you met… He lives around the corner. He’s super fun.”

Dove looks a little overwhelmed with all the information. None of this means anything to her. At least not yet. 

Buck takes a deep breath and recalibrates. 

“Have you been to the zoo before, Dove?”

She shakes her head. 

“Well, I really like to go to the zoo. Maybe you and I can go together sometime?”

Dove considers this. 

“Okay,” she nods. “To see reptiles?”

Buck smiles. She really likes those reptiles, huh? 

“Absolutely,” he promises. “There’s a whole big building full of them.”

“Cool,” she says, a coy little smile on her face. Like she’s nervous about finally getting something she wants. 

“What’s your favorite reptile?” Buck asks. “Crocodiles?”

“And turtles,” she says. “And tortoises.”

“Oh, yeah. They’re super cool, too.”

“They take their houses with them,” she announces. 

“They do,” Buck nods. “That’s pretty neat.”

Character Heights and Body Type HCs

characters: Volo, Maxie, Archie, Colress, Lysandre, Guzma, Giovanni, Cyrus

⭐️ First of all, Volo has a canon height. The blond stands at a staggering 6'3" (190cm). It is clear he towers over most in Hisui, so perhaps the Arceus clan from which he descended is just full of tall people. (Seeing as Cynthia herself seems pretty tall as his descendant.) He likely enjoys the height for intimidation and whatever else it might bring. Though, interestingly, it puts him at the exact height of an average Garchomp. He seems like the type to enjoy a shorter partner, honestly, but it wouldn't be hard for him to find one. Body type wise… He's likely got some muscle on him. It is just something that happens to you by living in Hisui, alas. (And by hauling around that giant backpack of his.)

🌋 Maxie is… a bit on the slightly shorter side. It irritates him. He's likely around 5'7" (170cm) or 5'8" (173cm), and he hates it. His Crobat is taller than him. The only respite is that he is closer to the earth… He can actually usually forget his height. Tabitha is unusually tall, and Courtney is shorter than him. It's Archie that reminds him he's short. Not even by that much, but just enough to annoy him. Partner wise, he would prefer someone around his height, but he isn't too inclined one way or the other. He might just get a little more flustered if they are taller than him. As for his body type, he's a bit too thin at times, but typically finds himself back to normal after being forced to take a break from whatever his work is.

💧 Archie stands at 5'9" (175cm) or 5'10" (178cm). He doesn't think much about what height entails, though. Sure, he likes teasing Maxie about his height occasionally, but that's all in good fun. Their height difference isn't that extreme, after all. He definitely likes a partner that's a bit shorter than him, but he also isn't swayed away from someone his height or taller. His body type is muscular. All his swimming pays off because this guy is fit, and he knows it. One of the most smug feelings he's ever known is lifting up his partner with ease.

🛸 Colress is tall. He knows he is tall. Does it really matter to him? No. He is likely pulling a Volo and standing at 6'3" (190cm). The only way he might find use for his height is in making machines or finding out a height of pokemon for some reason. He also has no preferences for height on a partner. Though, he discovers this through him blind testing himself. Science man will always enjoy science, even in his boredom. Colress is pretty lanky. Though, he takes okay care of himself unless he's thrown himself into a big project.

☕️ Lysandre is tall as well. This man is towering over most people in Kalos. He stands around 6'4" (193cm), maybe skewing towards 6'5" (195cm). He knows he is tall and absolutely uses it to his advantage if he ever needs to. There is some pride in it, too, since he feels it makes him more regal and closer to his royal heritage. He definitely enjoys a shorter partner, but he would be hard-pressed to find someone taller than him anyway. (Well, apparently, Ghetsis is.) The Flare Boss is a bit buff, and it's not that much of a secret when looking at him. Not overly so, but there is clear muscle development on him.

💀 Guzma is like 5'7" (170cm). He might not be the tallest guy out there (and there may be some annoyance about that), but he believes his ability to intimidate comes from just more than towering over people. Though, he does hate having his height mocked by anyone outside of Team Skull. He doesn't really care too much to think about height for dating. He can see the appeal in a lot of things, so he's down as long as they are genuine with him. His body type is pretty muscular since he admittedly cares a little bit about how he looks. Plus, he doesn't want to fall that behind Kukui.

🚀 Giovanni is a short king. 5'5" (165cm) to 5'6" (167cm) at the tallest. Does he think about his height? Sure, he wears tailored suits, after all. Does he care? No. Why? Because height isn't the only way to intimidate someone, and he knows that very well. Comments about his height mostly go ignored unless they are belittling him. That is the one thing he won't stand for. He prefers a partner his height or shorter, and he's aware that's a bit hypocritical. Yet, he wouldn't look past a taller partner. The real way to attract him is power, after all. He's surprisingly buff for his age. Being able to defend himself is crucial in his line of work, and pokemon battles aren't the only fights one might themselves in. He spends a decent amount of time maintaining his physique.

🌌 Cyrus stands at 5'11" (180cm). He rarely thinks too much about it. Sure, he's quite a bit taller than the average Sinnohan height, but when the champion of the region stands a head taller than him, he doesn't really think he's that much of an oddity. No one really remarks on his height since his harsh glare already frightens off most people. For a partner? Well, he doesn't think about romance, so he likely just ends up with whoever seems the most likely to put up with him and work with him. (Though, there actually might be a bit of frustration with a taller partner. Something something, inferiority issues, something something.) He is surprisingly buff. No one knows how he does it. In his uniform and by the definition of his face, he almost seems malnourished, but the second he's down to his undershirt, his true form is revealed. He does work out, just a bit. Maintaining a healthy body is a requirement for perfection, he thinks.

There's something to be said about Adam getting along so well and even loving Lute (platonically, maybe romantically? or more likely in a fwb way, doesn't really matter)

From the moment they're introduced we expected cold, stern, rough Lute to dislike Adam's antics, and all of our expectations were subverted when we found out she's actually his right hand, his number 1 enabler, his dangertits.

We know Adam is a misogynist that objectifies most women by reducing them to wether they make his dick hard or not, and we know that Lute is so deranged he even finds her bloodlust off-putting sometimes. At the same time, it only makes sense that such a chaotically lawful abettor of a girl would get along with the guy who for the most part just wants validation from a select group of people.

The fact that Lute can call out Adam when he's being stupid (yknow, when she gets the braincell lol) and the most he does is be vaguely annoyed without retaliating always stood up to me.

I guess I've been thinking about Lute, and her personality, and the fact that Adam likes her and gets along so well with her, in terms of what Adam's relationship with Lilith and likely Eve was like. Here's what I'm thinking:

Lilith: We know they fell apart because Lilith wanted independence and didn't want to submit to Adam. They likely fought for dominance, or at the very least, Lilith often butted heads with him in an attempt to be seen as an equal. From this, we get the feeling that Lilith was a strong personality, likely feminine in image yes, but unafraid to be rougher and exert power in order to get what she wants. We don't know what she's been using her power for as of lately, but historically she did it to maintain a semblance of order in hell.

Eve: Admittedly Eve is a bit more mysterious for obvious reasons. All we know about her is that she existed in the Hazbin verse and that, if the story tracks with the biblical myth, she was created from Adam's rib to stay at his side and be his companion. They did populate earth until they died, so there's a good chance that she was purposefully created to be a more maternal, traditionally feminine figure, and that part of the "success" of her relationship with Adam was the fact that she, by design, probably subconsciously submitted to him and went along with his ideas often.

(I say "success" because I'm a sucker for Eve Angst. There's no way that after eating the Fruit of Knowledge she didn't spend her own life questioning her birth purpose, her innate feelings, the role she was created for. But that's a topic for another day).

I don't know if this was by design, but seen under that light, Lute does say a lot about Adam. As I said before, you'd expect that he'd dislike her bursts of dominance, and her more steady roughness around the edges, her bluntness (so unfeminine, at least by traditional catholic standards) and yet its part of what makes them a dynamic duo. At the same time, he probably wouldn't stay with her if she wasn't his lieutenant: Allowed to keep him in check from time to time, but for the most part following his lead, working with him towards a goal that they both believe in.

I don't know if Adam being accepting and enabling Lute's roughness is something innate in him or if it's proof of pre-canon character development of sorts. What it makes me think is that Adam probably didn't actually dislike the parts of Lilith that pushed her to leave him. Maybe he was even blind-sighted by her leaving him?

I also wonder if Adam ever doubted the genuineness of Eve's companionship. Again, how can you ignore that someone was literally created to stay by your side and follow your lead? Maybe eventually he processed it as "I was the first man, the blueprint, so that's just the way things are meant to be" and just accepted it as a fact of life, but you can't tell me it'd feel way better to find someone who literally choses to be by your side because she believes in your ideals. Every yes you get and every small effort that said person puts towards your shared goals would just be more meaningful.

I also wonder sooo much about Lute. Like, I want so so badly to learn her backstory lol. I can see clearly why Adam found her so special and fun, but what about her? What was the draw? WHY is she the way she is? she's like if a militarized person met teuthonic-adjacent religious ethic and was promptly unleashed onto the world. So it's weird that she likes Adam, right? It's so weird.

And yet there she is, hyping him up when he's being his most annoying self lol. It can't be just "well he's an angel and the 1st man" that kept her besides him for so long, at least her crying at his death makes me believe that there was an actual interpersonal bond, an understanding, something she saw in him that no one else saw before. best narratively: SOLAS. SORRY

this comes as a surprise to absolutely no one but I SWEAR I don't just have solas fucker glasses on. like I do have them on but I am capable of being objective I prommy

for one, Solas himself is a critical part of the narrative! i've gone on this rant a trillion times so I won't go full throttle here, but I will go slight throttle. every single companion serves as a foil or mirror to Solas, including the inquisitor. Solas watches the inquisitor go on the exact same path that he did in becoming Fen'Harel—the loss of self, the sacrifices for the greater good, the impossible decisions that have long-standing and international impact. it HAS to be brutal to watch. extremely juicy to intertwine this with a romance.

for another, I am just. destroyed by the fact that the inquisitor can come SO CLOSE to getting him to abandon his task. they don't know who he is, what he's done, or what he's trying to do; just by virtue of being themselves, they make the world around him come to life. he is an immortal being that sees the separation from magic as the most tragic and unnatural thing possible. so much so that he doesn't even view the people who walk this earth as people at all. they're NPCs in the bad timeline to him. he's just waiting to reload his save.

and literally without even knowing any of this, the inquisitor makes the world around him come to life. they make what he sees as tranquiled husks into people he cares about. they turn a fallen, lifeless world into one worth appreciating. and, for a time, into one worth saving. (both in the sense that he stays to close the breach / save everyone from Corypheus, and in the sense that he nearly abandons his plans.)

"you're real, and it means everyone could be real. it changes everything, but it can't." like. are you serious. i'm eating drywall rn

i find it absolutely insane that his romance was a last-minute addition. it is the sparsest of the romances as far as in-game content for main game, so that part I understand, but it works so well in the overarching narrative (and presumably that of DA4 as well) that it really blows me away that we almost didn't get it. as annoying as solasmancers can be—and I know we really can be—it makes a lot of sense to me that so many people were sucked down this rabbit hole

solas is a devastatingly lonely man for a multitude of reasons. he is immortal in a world where not everyone is anymore. nearly everyone he ever knew is dead. the thing he did to prevent the Evanuris from destroying the world still, in his eyes, destroyed it anyway. it is his greatest regret and it literally surrounds him at all times and he can't talk to anyone about it. through the inquisitor he is able to know what it is to love and be loved, and it shakes him so thoroughly he nearly abandons his entire purpose. and because of that—assuming from what we know of DA4 so far—he refuses to get close to anyone ever again. for fear of laying down his burden. I FEEL INSANE!!!!

i do want to throw in a disclaimer that I think most of these things are still true with a high-approval, non-romanced inquisitor as well. my first lavellan was a Solas bestie and I maintain that the overall themes that I love in the romance are still present in the platonic arc. but we don't get the crestwood scene without the romance, and FOR ME PERSONALLY(!), that is the most crucial part of the relationship's role in the story and what it says about both his and the inquisitor's character arcs.

last thing I swear. I also think inquisition has a lot of untapped potential as a story about what people can accomplish when they work together and care for one another. I acknowledge this isn't really explored in-game but TO ME! it is an important part of the story overall and solas's place in it. he altered the fabric of reality because he wanted to help people, and eons later he stuck around to knit back up his greatest mistake...to help people. I am gutted by the fact that this might be the only time in his entire, immortal life that he had the relationships with the people around him like he does while in the inquisition. AND by the fact that rather than see what caring for one another accomplished, he sees it was a weakness. completely misses the point because his shame and regret is just too suffocating. again i'm extrapolating a lot here but I couldn't not mention it in an answer about why I find his romance the best narratively lol

i'm so sorry this became literally an essay but academia never leaves you and I will also never not be deeply unwell about Solas. I hope this answered your question and wasn't just me losing my mind for 7 straight paragraphs (jesus christ) dksfjsdk but yeah. i'm done now

most fleshed out: CULLEN

this is a Bit hard for me to say bc i've only fully romanced 3 LIs in inquisition (Josie, Solas, Cass). i've read through/watched the others but imo it's not quite the same as experiencing the major beats of the relationship alongside the rest of the game. ANYWAY

to me the cullenmance seems most fleshed out, and I would be surprised if it didn't since he's been around for 3 whole games. they're able to rely on the players' past experiences with him as a kind of shorthand to develop his character (imo) and that history makes it feel a little fuller than romances with people you've only met this game. and he's the only other LI you can marry in trespasser and i am naught but a bitter josiemancer at the end of the day

also it pisses me off tremendously bc EYE think if they had actually put any effort or thought into his "redemption" he could've been one of the most impactful romances in the game! perhaps even second after solas! they had such a juicy opportunity w him (character-wise AND romance-wise) and they just. fumbled the absolute shit out of it. but idk why I expected anything else tbh slkdfjd

romance I like best: JOSIE <3

i'm taking this to mean the one I would like best for myself, and i'm sure i'm at least partially biased bc she was my first EVER dragon age romance but I really, really love Josephine's. I find it so sweet and such a great extension of her character <333 I love being able to go smooch her in the gardens whenever you want, I love that you get her to unwind a little, and I love the whirlwind fairytale drama of it all when you literally duel for her hand. is it unrealistic that the other dude would just give up? perhaps but idc it's TRUE LOVE and it CONQUERS ALL

I also personally find the leliana shotgun talk endearing bc it gives us a glimpse into their friendship. genuinely one of my only complaints is that I can't marry her/didn't get a romance specific scene w her in trespasser. like you just go to the opera. but whatever it's fine bc I love her so much. Josie deserves the world and, as someone who has spent her life taking care of others, she deserves someone who wants to take care of HER. I love that the inquisitor can be that for her :') additionally the epilogue slides (at least if you disband the inquisition idr what the others say) are fucking adorable bc her family loves you!!!

Solas doesn't win this title bc honestly he annoys me sometimes and Josie never annoys me lmao (I do still like him and think I would if I was a person in-game, but I gotta be realistic). I wish I had a deeper answer to this but I just think she's sweet, funny, interesting, beautiful, smart, sexy, and cool. given that inquisition is about losing your personhood and being treated as a symbol, I appreciate that Sera is someone who tries to stay grounded and keep the inquisitor grounded. pretty sure the inquisitor actually says so verbatim to her in the scene after the post-corypheus party. she loves you for YOU, and reminds you that you are "a people" and not just the inquisitor, and that becomes a rare and beautiful gift by the end of the inq's story arc :')

Gingerbrave doesn’t really remember how he and Azure ended up here. It feels strange to be around Azure, even when it’s in their original form, because they look so similar to Wizard. …Also because Azure doesn’t really like him.

Azure finally broke the silence that engulfed the pair. “You look terrible today, Gingerbrave.” It said. The knight internally rolled his eyes at the demon's words.

“Thanks for the concern,” Gingerbrave replied sarcastically. He looked away from the demon's piercing gaze. “It was a long day.”

Azure didn’t respond, so Gingerbrave looked back and saw that it had returned to gazing off into the distance. Their arms were crossed over their chest. An uncomfortable silence passed over the two briefly before Azure sighed. “Look I don’t really care but, what is it you see in him.?”

“what?” Gingerbrave replied dumbly. He didn’t want to admit that he had no idea what Azure was talking about.

Azure glared at him before rolling their eyes exasperatedly. “Don’t play coy, Gingerbrave. You’re not exactly subtle when it comes to your feelings for Wizard. What is it? Are you in love with him? Or do you just like being around him?” Azure asked, its tone more teasing than accusing.

“sometimes I feel like you forget that Wizard is my host and that, most of the time, I see the world through his eyes.” It said as if they were answering an unspoken question. Gingerbrave sighed tiredly. “If you MUST know. Yes, I’m in love with Wizard.” There was no reason for Gingerbrave to sugarcoat anything about the way she felt about Wizard. Azure can easily read between the lines anyway.

Azure gave the knight an unimpressed look.

“What? That’s it.” Gingerbrave deadpanned. “Do you actually have anything else to say to me or are you going to sit there until I spontaneously combust?” he added. Gingerbrave could swear he heard a muffled laugh from Azure. It almost sounded amused. But then again, Azure seemed to find everything amusing. “I didn’t expect you to answer that so easily.” There was a teasing look in their eyes this time. “Yeah, me neither. Besides, it’s not like you would just leave me be if I didn’t answer so why go through the trouble and annoyance?”

Azure stared blankly for a few moments before giving a small smile. Their shoulders shook as they suppressed another chuckle.

“I wasn’t trying to embarrass you. I was genuinely curious.” They ended with a snicker. It looked away from the knight and toward the dark sky. “I promise I won’t tell Wizard about this.”

The knight raised a brow at that statement. “I’m serious, Brave.” For once Azure’s voice didn’t have its usual teasing (and agitating) tone. “I know we aren’t exactly ’friends’ but….” The other demon trailed off, uncertain. “Well….” They mumbled quietly. Gingerbrave couldn’t hear them properly so he tilted his head curiously. Azure cleared their throat, seemingly embarrassed. “Nevermind.” They muttered. Gingerbrave let out a sigh.

The last thing he needs is Azure blabbing to Wizard about this. Especially since they already know that he loves Wizard.

He didn’t realize he was zoning out until Azure waved their hand in front of his face. “Hey Gingerbrave. Hello? Earth to the brave boy.” He jolted at the nickname. It’s been a while since Azure called him by that title. The last time they called him that was during… nevermind. It didn’t matter anymore. The past was the past. They changed after that incident. He’s glad. “You spacing out again?” they asked, looking mildly annoyed.

“No. Not at all.” He said quickly. Azure narrowed their eyes at Gingerbrave suspiciously. “Really, I am okay. Just tired, that's all.” He shrugged.

Azure eyed him suspiciously for a moment longer before shrugging nonchalantly as well. “Okay then. If you say so.” They gave Gingerbrave one last glance before continuing to talk about whatever the hell it was they were saying. Gingerbrave watched the other figure, feeling uneasy. His thoughts turned to wizard yet again. He hadn’t seen him all day, or for the past three days actually. That’s odd. Maybe something happened during that time. Gingerbrave mentally kicked himself for missing that.

Maybe he should check on him before going to his room. Gingerbrave nodded to himself. “hey Azure, do you know where Wizard is?” Azure shrugged “I don’t know.” They said nonchalantly. It’s almost like that little fucker didn’t care. “Aren’t you two literally connected? How do you, of all people, not know where he is.” Gingerbrave grumbled. “he’s probably in that giant library. That’s where he’s been for like the past three days.” Azure huffed. “actually I think he let me leave the subspace because I wouldn’t stop complaining.” It said. “of course..” Gingerbrave sighed. They both stood up and began heading towards the exit of the garden together. They both split ways before Gingerbrave stopped.

“Wait. Aren’t you coming back with me?” Gingerbrave asked. “Nah. Its been a while since I was able to roam the castle by myself.” Azure said casually. The knight frowned slightly at that, but decided against asking for any clarification. They left without another word. It must have been a habit of theirs. This is such a fun fun question and I’m gonna answer it with my top three biases because I have an idea for all of them.

Chan - the classic friends to lovers trope, besides being infatuated with him, I genuinely do see him as someone I would befriend, annoy, and hang out with on a daily basis. It’s not like a normal bestie relationship either, there’s a lot of banter, like KwanChan level of banter (I would give kwan this same trope btw) and it’s like a live sitcom every day. Then comes the childish stuff like watching the shows you’d watch in childhood, or pretending to sneak off with alcohol like you did in high school even though your both legal age now. It’d be a slow burn and neither one of you realize your are slowly falling for each other until it’s boiling point and it becomes this hot inseparable fiery mess of relationship that is unquestionably the most important thing in your life. It’s impossibly perfect.

Soonyoung - He’s an interesting guy, and lately he’s been on my mind lately ngl, but he is just this ‘born to be a celebrity’ type of guy, he knows his angles, he appeals to the masses, he’s very charismatic yet he’s so down to earth? I imagine he meets a stranger knowing his existence for the first time and falling for them head first, like a person he meets on a business trip, or someone he’s trapped with in an elevator. He’s not questioning why they aren’t interested in him like everyone else is, he’s questioning why do I want to know everything about this person, and not even in a normal ‘this person is cool I’d love to get to know them’ no, it’s like he’s constantly think about them and wonder how they see him, like he’s love with someone for the first time? It’s genuine interest that differs from so many of his past relationships.

Seungcheol - mmmh, this man, I swear to god. Everyone wants to get in this man including me and I would be BRAGGING about me getting with this man. Like first glance I’d love a hookup or fwb trope with him, like you can’t get over the fact how hot he is and how amazing he makes you feel in bed. You feel like you’re into him more than he’s into you, which hurts, and also why you don’t want to pursue anything other than physical. But soon you realize he’s more than a sex symbol, he’s considerate and kind and wholesome. He cares about the people around them, does what he can given the chance and you find yourself irrevocably in love with him until it hurts. And maybe one day you’re too late and he ends up finding someone else and you regret not saying anything, constantly thinking about the one that got away.

I have a lot of similar ideas like this for idols outside of seventeen, and even some Korean actors but these are some of the circulating thoughts I’ve had. If it’s wanted I can have that in another post.

Cryptid was clinging to him again. Fuck. They only did that when he got them too drunk. Normally they seemed almost repulsed by the thought of like, showing him affection in any form.

“You have to go home soon.” Quackity’s voice was forced into a flat tone. Cryptid whined pathetically against his chest. The sound was as childish as can be. He had to hold back a scoff.

“But you're warmmm.” Their words were slurred and whiney. Pathetic like the rest of their tone. Pathetic’s an adjective he finds thinking a lot when around them. He sighed, and ran a hand through his hair.

“Cryptid, you can't just… sleep on me.”

“Dream would let me do it.” They grumbled and Quackity immediately stiffened, suppressing a snarl. Little brat.

“Yeah well Dream’s a weird bastard.” He bit back instead. He could practically feel they way they rolled their eyes.

“Well sue me for wanting a pillow.” It's an argument that made approximately zero sense. But they were drunk. A certain level of insanity was to be expected.

“Why do I have to be your pillow though!?” He protested, attempting to only half lightly push them away by their head. This only results in them whining again and gripping his torso tighter. This struggle goes one for at most a minute before he decides that it truly isn't worth it. And Cryptid promptly settled themself again. He had to force a scoff into a sigh. “Cryptid. If you really don't want to go home. Then fine, I can set you up with a room here in las nevadas. But I’m not going to fucking cuddle you. And frankly it's weird that you think it's normal to cuddle with adults.” They raised their head for once to look up at him, and they were fucking pouting. God remind him to never get them this drunk again. It was just fucking annoying to deal with.

“But I thought you cared about me?”

“Oh don’t try to fucking gui-” It took him halfway through his sentence to realize they were being genuine. It was a genuine fucking question. They were looking up at him with a look he could only compare to a small confused child. A child. For as much as he used that fact against them… He still put them in this situation… No, they were probably like 16. Sure it wasn’t legal. But that was practically a formality, plenty of kids their age got drunk. Hell Tommy and Tubbo were running an honest to god drug van at that age. It was fine. He was fine.

“You just- it’s not a matter of not caring. Care- care isn’t always physical affection.” His voice was gentler now. But god did he hate it when they looked like this. It meant he had to actually like, confront the fact that he was using and manipulating a god damn child. He had his fucking reasons, and it’s not like they were fully innocent, they’d allowed so much stuff to happen.

“Well you certainly don’t show it through words of affirmation.” Cryptid pointed out after a few moment’s awkward silence. It made Quackity scoff, but they continued anyway. “I don’t actual know why I thought you cared. I probly just like… associate abuse with care or so some shit.” Their words ended up slurred but strangely coherent. It made Quackity bristle.

“It’s- it��s not fucking abuse. Me providing you with alcohol you asked for isn’t abuse.” It wasn’t. Because he wasn’t an abuser. And he wasn’t doing anything really wrong, not when you knew the context.

“Fine whatever- i don’t really care. I was just….” They trailed off. Seemingly losing their train of though, the brief coherence as fleeting as it usually was. Tiredness overwhelming them as they layed their head on his chest again, their eyes shut.

“I’m still not your damn pillow.” The words were less biting then he intended. It was hard to be properly mad at the kid when they were such a mess.

Already answered Bobby here, so I figured I'd go with the next most interesting and go with Scottie. You know, it's funny, you'd think Hank would have more of a thing for the guy with red glasses and emotional issues, given who his not-quite-canon boyfriend is, but Scott honestly doesn't move the dial for him. I think he recognises that he's a very good looking man, intellectually, but he's not Hank's type, to put it mildly. Too slim, not enough Simon. :P

Even back in the old days, I think Hank was emotionally sensitive enough that he wouldn't write Scott off as 'boring' the way you'd often see Bobby do (mostly in ANXM) - I think he's always been very aware that Scott holds back as just a matter of course, and what kind of effect that can have on his mental health. That being said, as Scott's grown, and he and Hank have grown apart, I think Hank has begun to like him less and less. He knows Scot'll do what he considers to be the right thing, and that he won't stop fighting to the last man - but as far as most versions of Hank are concerned, that's what worries him. He doesn't like that for Scott, and he misses having a friend where he instead just finds a commander.

Even before Hank began to loathe Scott, this was never on the table, I don't think. You'd have to go back all the way to, like, the 60s to find a place where this makes any sense to me, even if I have read the occasional fic that finds a place for it in New X-Men, where it was extremely raunchy and extremely well written at the same time. Anyway, not in my conception of Hank.

X-Force Beast ironically does swing back around to almost sort of respecting Scott, but with the proviso that he doesn't think Scott went nearly far enough with his Utopia era methods, and I still don't think he likes him, just because I don't think he likes anyone.

I feel like Hank would have been the one most receptive to Scott's leadership in the O5, if only because he's the one most likely to take it all a lot more seriously and see the wisdom in his battle tactics and methodology, while Bobby and Warren, being younger and more inclined to jokes, see him as a killjoy. Jean, of course, being the final addition to the team, is a lot closer to Hank's side of this equation, though that's obviously fuelled by other things.

These two allegedly buried the hatchet during Hickman's Avengers run, but honestly, this was a friendship that pretty much died 15 years ago (has it been that long?) and neither of them seem particularly interested in fixing it. One of my major concerns about what's going to happen for a post-Krakoan Hank is that they're just going to plop resurrected Beast on an X-Men team and pretend everything's fine again, which - I don't want. X-Force Beast salted the Earth for all of his relationships, and, from my outsider perspective, almost everyone on the X-Men failed to be there for Hank when he needed them, so I don't want them near him. It doesn't make emotional sense for anyone involved for them to go right back to how it was.
