TW: graphic violence
Today in my sister's university, the university morality guard that checks students' clothes to see if they're modest enough to enter, attacked one of the students for not cooperating and damaged her clothing. In protest, she took off all of her clothes and walked around campus in her underwear until they called for backup force. After attacking her again using more violence and force, they pushed her into a car and took her god knows where.

A few months ago, two 14 year old girls were attacked by morality police in the streets of Tehran for not wearing headscarfs. One of them was severely beaten and was released with a broken nose. The police guard who broke her nose had the audacity to press charges against her family because of a broken finger!

These are two heartbreaking examples of what is happening to women in Iran. This is the physical and mental violence iranian women have to endure every day. This is why you should not support Iran's regime under any circumstance. This is why you shouldn't assume women can have a decent life in Iran as long as this violent misogynistic regime is in charge. Mandatory hijab is just one of the fronts the regime uses violence on women.

Just some TiMs casually fantasising about humiliating and raping feminists and lesbians.
They say they "don't feel safe," around radfems, while imagining ways to demean and humiliate us.
This is why we want spaces where we can avoid rape and abuse fetishists. This is why we don't want to be exposed to males in environments where we should be protected.
Stay safe out there guys.

"I don't question how embarassing it would be for a man to come forward and admit that a woman is abusing him. But don't underestimate how humiliated a woman feels when she reveals abuse; women crave dignity just as much as men do. If shame stopped people from coming forward, no one would tell."

Update on the Iranian university student, Ahou Daryaei:
Tw: violence, misogyny
Tumblr media
[Tweet made by Iranian journalist/human rights activist, Masih Alinejad (Nov 3, 2024):
Breaking: The authorities in Iran are now claiming that a young woman, who courageously removed her clothes in protest against harassment by the morality, police at her university, suffers from psychological illness and has been admitted to a mental health hospital.
This accusation of mental instability is a familiar tactic by the Islamic Republic. In 2014, when I launched the My Stealthy Freedom campaign against compulsory hijab, the regime used similar lies against me, claiming I had a mental breakdown, undressed myself on the London subway and was raped by three men.
This is how they attempt to undermine those who resist their oppression.
I believe her life is now in serious danger. I urge international media, human rights organizations, and the international community to see through these lies and support her before is too late.
Stand up for Iranian women who have had enough of this regime’s gender apartheid.
This woman has been forcibly hospitalized under psychiatric supervision—marking the start of torture and, soon after, the cycle of forced confessions.
One student who witnessed the entire incident says:
“On Saturday, November 2, we saw the university’s security and Basij forces trying to forcibly drag a female student into the security room, under the pretext of her not wearing a proper hijab. She resisted, and in the struggle, her hoodie was pulled off, leaving her with only her undergarments underneath. Shocked, the security officers let her go, after which, in a moment of rage, she removed her pants and threw them at the officers.”
This eyewitness account directly contradicts the regime’s narrative and shows the extent of brutality Iranian women face for the most basic acts of defiance.
Let’s be her voice. /End of tweet]
Women being labled "witches", "hysterical", "mentally unstable" and "psychotic" by repressive men in charge any time they dare to stand up for themselves, in defiance of injustice and inequality, is an old tale in patriarchy book. Risking your safety and life in protest against a regime that is known for femicide is an act of incredible bravery #woman life freedom

These men are predators. They are rapists. They are not women, they are sadistic autogynephiles who force people to partake in their fetishes.

By Michal Herzog
It is not that condemnations of gender-based violence by Hamas have been weak or insufficient – there have been none at all. Statement after statement by organizations like UN Women, the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) have failed to condemn these crimes. They failed us, and all women, at this critical moment.
As a woman and a mother, my heart goes out to women and children in Gaza suffering the consequences of the war started by Hamas. I believe they deserve aid and support. But this does not mean the erasure of the atrocities committed by Palestinian terrorists on October 7. The silence of international human rights organizations, and the unwillingness to believe Israeli women in the face of overwhelming evidence has been devastating.
For the Israelis who have always been on the forefront of the fight for women's rights worldwide, this was a moment of crushing disappointment. A disappointment shared with me by one of our most prominent women's rights advocates, Prof. Ruth Halperin-Kaddari, a former CEDAW vice-chair.
"I knew it would be difficult to get them to issue a reasonable statement," she said of the UN committee in a Harvard Medical School video conference., "but never did I imagine that when faced with such undeniable atrocities – given the very purpose for which they have been established,– - that they would actually resort to not acknowledging it at all."
Ignoring the "unprecedented, premeditated and extreme cruelty of the sexual violence committed by Hamas," Prof. Halperin-Kaddari added, meant not only failing Israeli women but failing the entire international human rights system. "I still am a believer in this system. But this was a huge blow to this belief."

The phrase "men don't have to fear walking outside alone at night" is dumb and ineffective not just because many men do (black men, queer men, disabled men) but also because the most dangerous place for a woman to be is the home. In most cases of women being murdered at the hands of men, the murderer is a romantic partner or close family member. It's not strangers in dark alleys women have to fear when they walk home, it's who's waiting for them when they get inside. And it's curious that we have such a pervasive narrative designed around discouraging women from leaving the home, keeping them inside, making them believe that's the only place they can be safe, when the opposite is true.
