breaks my heart how in the grand scheme of things, V the person is insignificant. the world moves on. the merc circles put V's name on the wall of fame and tease each other about it, never for once pausing to consider V was an actual living human being with fears, dreams, and aspirations

johnny silverhand and V are star-crossed lovers, soulmates ill-fated to clash into one another. before the relic, johnny silverhand was to V what V is to the new generation of mercs -- a name that meant a lot back in the day and now is barely a memory. an idea to get behind. death to corps, fuck arasaka, go out with a bang, get a drink named after you.

johnny's ID has a V in it. V has a J+V 4EVAH<3 tattoo on the forearm. V's known for being a nutjob obsessed with silverhand to an unhealthy extent, but also for being a legendary solo despite the fanboyism.

nobody remembers who johnny aspired to be like, if anyone. the new gen of mercs aspire to be like V, who's known to be a big johnny fan. they don't know any better, and i think it's beautiful, actually.

generations upon generations of cyberpunks and edgerunners building off the backs of each other, but you can always trace the influences of the legends in them.

valentinos use letter 'v' now to both mark themselves as well as their connection to heywood-born V. Valentinos paint murals in V's likeness. someone sporting samurai merch in the street is likely a fan of V, not of the original band. V's weapons of choice, preferred car, jackie's arch nazare -- all become a staple of an up and coming edgerunner. sure, older gen would call em posers, like they haven't been picking up santiago's and blackhand's and rockerboy's styles back in their days.
