Time for another ex-jewelry store worker PSA.

Don’t sleep with your jewelry on.

Really.

It’s so bad for most jewelry, but especially necklaces and rings with stones. Studs are more alright generally if they have a threaded back though it does still wear the back down, but honestly the wear and tear simply from sleeping on jewelry is insane. Solid rings are pretty much always fine but taking them off regularly is still a good practice. An alarming number of people get rings stuck on that need to be cut off.

Chain links stretch and with most chains once they start breaking from the cumulative wear there’s no fixing them because every link is gonna start giving out one after another.

Prongs used to set stones in rings literally wear down twice as fast when slept with and you lose stones more easily if fibers from your sheets catch on your prongs.

Earring backs loosen and clasps wear down.

As someone cleaning jewelry on the daily it was instantly apparent when it was slept on because it showed exponentially more wear and tear across the board than jewelry that got taken off.

If you’re like I used to be and worry that if you take it off you won’t remember to put it back on try to set up a bedtime routine at the place where you get ready for the day. It takes some getting used to. Sometimes I forget my ring. But it’s worth maintaining something I want to last me the rest of my life.

Gem leaving out in her vid Pearl’s “I want us to be friends, you know Scar and I were allied at the end of Secret, why are you so cranky, I haven’t tried to kill you once this season, you’re telling me we could’ve been friends all along but you wanted drama?” But Pearl keeping it in mnmnmmn Gem wants to seem spontaneously forgiving and like she’s made no real grievances while Pearl is genuinely hurt/confused by Gem’s sudden cold shoulder this season. The drama is manufactured for content, sure, but the way they’re telling it diverging like this…

I have a jewelry question!

I keep looking for the best ways to clean sterling silver jewelry and every source I could find conflicted with another. My owl studs (amber and sterling silver) are a little tarnished and I'm worried about damaging the metal and the stones if I clean them wrong. How would you take care of them?

There’s just cleaning pads that you rub the silver with that works wonders. You don’t need to add any special polishes or pastes.

Silver also loves our oils to keep it healthy, the more you wear them the cleaner they stay.

In the running for my all time favorite incredibly niche naruto fanfiction trope has to be "Obito somehow knocks Kakashi up (omegaverse, trans Kakashi, whatever, doesn't matter) and fucking dies before either of them realize (with things going as they did in canon) leaving Kakashi to deal with the consequences and do his best to pretend like the very obviously an Uchiha baby does not belong to Obito. Bc Obito is literally The Worst and very much well known to be at fault for most of the war. But also there's literally only 4 Uchiha out there so his options to cover this up are incredibly limited"

Love when they involve Sasuke as an uncle and go down the route of pretending Itachi was the dad bc at least Itachi was exonerated for his crimes while Obito remained The Big Bad(tm) in the hearts and minds of quite literally everyone in every country, so like, lesser evil. Very funny

thinking about ren's new skin and how when martyn died last session he turned into martyn as if to preserve him one last time. but something went wrong, and now he's stuck as himself and martyn, a lingering effect of his superpowers and a mark of his grief.

we know from gem and grian's videos that while gem is astral projecting grian can't copy her powers. grian even said the real gem isn't there anymore; there's just an empty shell until her soul returns to her body. if ren had tried to copy her dna while she was out of body would the same thing have happened? does the soul need to be present for their powers to work?

maybe that's why ren's stuck as two now. maybe, in his desperation to preserve martyn, he's irreversibly changed himself. when he looks in a mirror he'll be reminded that he's always got a part of martyn with him, but he'll also be reminded of all the ways he couldn't save him.
