I'm not sure if I'll be doing Geldris week, I haven't been keeping up with information about it. Though honestly I don't think I'll be doing it- I remember trying to do Kiane week, and that was definitely fun! But it was also a bit overwhelming for me :/

So I made a thing. And it's a little fuzzy because the Free Photoshop App I used doesn't let me do more than five pics at a time, so I did 5, took a screenshot of THAT, then added the rest.

Greetings to all!

A couple of months have passed since Geldris Week 2021 which was very entertaining. Sadly, the anime ended, and the film's world premiere looks like it will take longer, however that doesn't mean we can't continue to be active here.

Therefore, it has been decided to do Geldris Day on August 17.

And surely, they wonder, why? Well, the first date I thought was the first release of the Edinburgh Vampires special that came out with a DVD box from the first season on January 28, 2015 (Gelda has been with us for many years, lol), but that date has passed. Then, on August 17, 2016, the fanbook was launched where the specials are compiled and that any fan can buy.

Then go for this one.

And so Geldris Day arises! A day to appreciate Zeldris and Gelda as a couple with whatever you want: writings, arts, editions, phrases.

Oh wow, thank you so much for the ask! Alright, let’s do this! 

001 for nnt

Favorite character: King, I think he is one of the best written and developed characters in the manga. And he is both adorable and morally grey, I love it! 

Least Favorite character: nnt characters are all pretty good but I think the one I like the less is the Demon King. Mostly because he is not a very good villain in my opinion (and he is also a jerk. And annoying) 

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Kiane is my absolute OTP but I also like Melizabeth, Monderi, Dologlox and Geldris. And more or less every canon ship. Also a little edit because I realised I didn't put Gowdja here ... HOW. I love them.

Character I find most attractive: I have to admit that I’m weak for King’s awakened form, he is just so pretty (and he is not exaggeratedly muscular, I appreciate that), but there are so many beautiful characters!

Character I would marry: uhm ... King probably, or Gowther. 

Character I would be best friends with: Gowther again, I need someone to talk to about books and he is also a sweetheart. Or Gloxinia, he is so chill and I feel like it would be very relaxing to spend time with him (also he is fun!)

a random thought: I really love the fact that nnt characters are so different and yet they are pretty much all well written! And the fact that many of them had the chance to grow and to change during the story is so great. I would have liked to see more interactions between some of them but what we got is amazing. 

An unpopular opinion: ... I know that many people like Estarossa more than Mael, but I admit I do like Mael more. I just don’t really like the fact that Nakaba didn’t use him much, he could have been a so interesting character to explore! 

My Canon OTP: KIANE! I am so glad they are canon! 

My Non-canon OTP: is Monderi considered canon? Anyway I love it. A less canon ship I appreciate a lot is Dologlox.

Most Badass Character: Guila. This 16 years old girl managed to become a powerful knight while raising all alone a little brother and struggling with the people’s judgment. And she kicked the Sins’ ass. She deserves more credit. 

Most Epic Villain: The Ten Commandments as a group were absolutely epic! I got chills when they showed up! 

Pairing I am not a fan of: That’s hard, there are not many pairings I dislike, usually I’m just neutral about the ones I am not attached to. I think the worst I can think about is Vivian and Gilthunder (is there even someone who ships them??)

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): MERLIN. I liked a lot the plot twist about her, really, but her motivations and her feelings weren’t explored enough! Her whole betrayal was pushed aside because of Cath and we never even got her talking with Meliodas and Elizabeth about what she did. I like her a lot, but her arc was rushed.  

Favourite Friendship: there are so many! Helbram and King’s friendship is probably my favourite, but I also love Elizabeth and Diane and Ban and Meliodas. 

Character I most identify with: King, probably, but also Gowther and night Escanor. (I’m not sure what this says about me)

Character I wish I could be: Diane because she is amazing or Derieri

002 for Monderi

When I started shipping them: I don’t remember exactly when I started, but surely after the Memory of the holy war arc I shipped them a lot. The fact that Monspeet had been by Derieri’s side for so long, even during some of the hardest moments of her life, is great. He was ready to sacrifice so much to help her! 

My thoughts: THEY. DESERVE. BETTER. That’s it  I was so mad when Monspeet died without being able to tell her anything ... I’m glad they will probably have a chance to see each other again in the sequel. 

What makes me happy about them: they have a very close relationship even without being a couple. They really care about each other, they are always very close and open only with each other. And there is the fact that Monspeet is always there protecting Derieri from everything. I am so weak for that. 

What makes me sad about them: I really have to answer this? Well, I think what bothers me the most is that they didn’t have the chance to talk about their feelings before Monspeet died. And of course, the fact that they are dead. 

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: the fact that there are not many fanfics about them I guess 

Things I look for in fanfic: them having the chance to talk about what they feel for each other. Or just them being happy. 

My wishlist: I really just hope that they will make an appearance in the sequel and that they will have another chance. 

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: I really don’t know honestly! There are not many characters I can see with them. 

My happily ever after for them: They reincarnate and meet each other again. Derieri remembers about their past life and wishes to stay by his side, without pushing him in any way, while Monspeet doesn’t remember but immediately feels a connection with her. They become friends, fall in love again and this time they have a happy ending. (And Monspeet eventually remembers. I’m weak)

003 for Drole

How I feel about this character: I like Drole a lot. I usually like very calm characters and I love his backstory (I also think that his childhood explains pretty well the way he acts). I would have wanted to see more of him because he didn’t get much development ... he had so much potential! 

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Only Gloxinia, their dynamics are perfect and they obviously care so much about each other. (Besides, there are all those parallels with Kiane ... I simply couldn’t ignore it)

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: that’s hard because he didn’t have the chance to interact with many characters outside Gloxinia! I would have liked to see more of his relationship with Meliodas and Elizabeth, and love the idea of him being a sort of weird uncle for Diane and teaching her stuff. 

My unpopular opinion about this character: I haven't read many opinions about him honestly! But I actually think that his motivations to join the Commandments made sense considering his character. Also, I feel like even though he doesn’t show that much, he is a bit insecure about himself. 

One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: Something I would have loved to see is him personally train Diane more and interact with her more. (I would have also wanted him to survive, though I must admit that his death was epic)

Favorite friendship for this character: I love his relationship with Gloxinia, and I also think that he would have gotten along pretty well with Monspeet if they had the chance to talk more. I like to think that he was a close friend for Elizabeth and Meliodas as well. 

My crossover ship: *panics* I don’t know! I have never thought about it!

June Wrap Up | 2019

Summer is here and finally managed to read a lot of books. I’m pretty proud of all the books I read. Towards the end I started to get a little lazy but I think I did a pretty good job.

The first book I finally finished was A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin:

This book was pretty good. It’s a little hard to judge because it took me such a long time to read but I enjoyed a lot of it. We meet a lot of new characters like Brienne, Gendry, and Pod. I really am starting to like Arya, she might be my favorite character. I really liked this book but I wish Stannis and Renly hadn’t butted heads. They seemed like little children. I guess it’s because I know there are bigger fish to fry. Regardless, I gave this book five out of five stars.

Next I read The Han Solo Trilogy by A. C. Crispin:

I really enjoyed the first book in this series. I felt like the second book was a bit dull but the third was pretty good. I really liked seeing a younger Han Solo who’s still naïve. I wish we would have gotten to see him meet Chewy and his time in the Imperial Navy. I’m sure there’s another book detailing that but I still wanted to see it. Overall it was a pretty good series, and much better than the Solo movie. Four out of five stars.

Then I picked up Love à la Mode by Stephanie Kate Strohm:

So, I absolutely adore cooking shows…well I adore watching Gordan Ramsey’s cooking shows. And I was super excited to see a romance book about cooking. I enjoyed the romance part more than the cooking part. I guess it’s not the same when you don’t have a Scotsman yelling WHERE’S THE LAMB SAUCE? I had a couple of problems with this book. The first was that this book was really into the whole “we’re just going to have the characters not communicate like human beings” trope. Like there were countless times where Rosie and Henry would be like “Imma talk to the other person!” And then something would get in the way. It got annoying after a while. The other problem I had was Yumi was so annoying. Other than that, when Henry and Rosie were being cute, it was really nice. So that’s why I gave this book four out of five stars because by the end I was happy that Henry and Rosie had impressed the chefs and were going to school in the spring!

I then read Upon a Burning Throne by Ashok K Banker:

I really liked this book! My only gripe with the book is that I wasn’t the biggest fan of the really long time jumps. Other than I really loved this book. My favorite part were the characters and their relationships. Adri, Shvate, Jilana, and Karni were all fascinating characters. I really loved seeing Adri and Shvate’s relationship in the beginning, it reminded me of Edward and Alphonse Elric. Geldry and her brother are such great villains and I’m interested to see where the 100 children go. Such a good cliffhanger, too. Five out of five stars.

Then I read four manga for a impromptu manga read-a-thon, if you want to hear more about them then here is the link.

Continuing with my manga spree, I reread Fullmetal Alchemist: Fullmetal Edition Vol. 2 by Hiromu Arakawa:

HOW CAN I NOT GIVE THIS VOLUME A FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS? IT HAS ALEX LOUIS ARMSTRONG! THE STRONG ARM ALCHEMIST! ALCHEMY THAT HAS BEEN PASSED DOWN FOR GENERATIONS!!! Ahem, anyway. It was nice to see one of my favorite characters in this series. I also loved seeing how subtle Arakawa is because Roy is clearly trying to kill Scar up until he realizes that Scar is Ishvalan, then he goes “you’re surrounded, Scar” and tries to let him live. God, Arakawa is so amazing.

I then randomly picked I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak:

I am beyond words, this was such an incredible book. I may like it more than the Book Thief. It had an incredible message. It got super meta and it was just amazing. If you have not read it, I highly recommend it and I would recommend going into it fairly blind. It’s just such a good book. This is one I’m going to need to read over and over again.

Next I read Leviathan Wakes by James S. A. Corey:

This is a bit of a hard book to review because I was listening to the audiobook and only half paying attention to it. Somehow I still really enjoyed it. I think if I decide to go with the series I’ll need to reread this book but it was super interesting. I liked Holden and Miller but I honestly couldn’t tell you much about the supporting characters. I also think the world is very interesting and what they set up with this alien virus is very interesting. Even though I didn’t really pay attention, I still give this book five stars.

Next I read Fullmetal Alchemist: Fullmetal Edition Vol. 3 by Hiromu Arakawa:

Alright so I really don’t like Al being all angsty and the Rush Valley stuff is rather boring. But goddamn Hughes’ death always hits me right in the chest. It’s so well done and the rain quote and Roy going after the Homunculus goddamn…so good…really saves this volume. So I gave it four out of five stars because of those two things but Hughes stuff is so good.

Next I read Tomorrow’s Kin by Nancy Kress

I really liked this book. A lot of the mystery with the aliens and the spore cloud was really cool. Marianne is an interesting protagonist though I don’t understand why she’s not more resentful of the aliens. Like Evan died because of them. Yes, the aliens probably didn’t start the spore cloud but Evan died because of them. Also the politics in this are a bit basic. Other than those problems I really enjoyed it and am desperate to get my hands on the next two books. I gave this one five out of five stars.

Those are all the books I read in June, there were a lot of great ones!

Gelda walked slowly, glaring at the ornate doors that were at the end of the hall. The sounds of music and laughter already filled the castle, making Gelda feel even more nervous. Usually, only a select few are invited when the vampire king hosts a party. However, this party was planned to ease some of the tension among the clans, so everybody was invited.

A party was no place for an attendant to the Vampire Royal Crown, nevertheless Gelda was forced into a silk, white dress, a golden mask, and her white hair pulled back into an ornate bun.

Her superior, Princess Ren, ordered her to attend.

“It’s just for one night!” Ren said. She smiled as the other attendants worked on the both of them. Gelda pouted. Ren cupped Gelda’s face, tilting it upwards.

“Have fun, Gelda. Who knows, maybe a special someone will make an appearance,” Ren said with a wink. Gelda blushed as she remembered her master’s orders. The doors opened and Gelda faced the boisterous party. Creatures from various races mingled, laughed, and danced in the mirthful atmosphere. Gelda smiled as she walked down the stairs, observing the dance floor and the couples already on it.

Just by watching the dancers, Gelda felt hopeful. There was someone she hoped to meet tonight, a certain dark-haired soldier from the Demon Clan. It has been so long since they last seen each other.

Gelda smiled as she clutched her dress, stepping onto the main floor of the ballroom. She noticed Ren in the distance, seated by her father, King Izraf. Next to them were the Fairy King and Giant King, Gloxinia and Dolor. For once, King Gloxinia was wearing a full outfit. The leader of the Goddess Clan was nowhere to be found, but someone, by the name of Elizabeth, was there as a representative.

Gelda’s heart stopped when she recognized the male that was talking to the Goddess representative. He was not the man she was looking for, but was related to him. His appearance confirmed that HE was around. The blonde male noticed her and smiled in greeting. He nudged his head towards the balcony before returning to his conversation with Elizabeth.

Gelda walked her way through the crowd, her eyes set on the doors that led to the balcony. Her skirt billowed as she pushed the doors open. Her golden eyes wandered around the balcony, looking for a familiar mess of black hair.

A wink of light blinked at her, drawing her attention to a lone figure standing by the balcony rails. His suit was jet black, with silver lining on the lapel of his jacket. He wore a simple silver mask, contrasting with her golden, ornate mask. Regardless, he was here. Zeldris had finally made an appearance.

Gelda walked towards him, her heels’ clacking catching his attention. Irritation crossed his face as he turned around to scowl whoever disturbed him. When he noticed it was Gelda, the scowl softened and his eyes shone with affection. Gelda was the only one who can bring out the soft gleam in his eyes. The way his body relaxed as she grew closer. He noticed the way her shoulders slumped, the way her skin seemed to glow as if the sun shined within her and her eyes were alighted with the flames of her magic. She made the world suddenly seemed right, as if there wasn’t an imminent war about to explode. Zeldris smiled lightly.

“Good evening, Gelda.”

“Good evening, Sir Zeldris,” Gelda bowed. She held back a giggle when she heard Zeldris scoff.

“Is that really necessary?” He asked. Zeldris reached for Gelda’s hands, pulling her closer to him.

“Nope! But is it fun to tease you,” said Gelda. She intertwined her fingers with his, enjoying whatever warmth his body had to offer. Zeldris looked up at her, marveling at her beauty.

“Did Ren force you to dress up like this?”

“Unfortunately, yes.”

Zeldris chuckled, though the sound was lost as laughter erupted from the ballroom. Zeldris rolled his eyes. He looped his arm through Gelda’s arm and led her to the other end of the balcony. The silhouettes of the clan leaders stood out against the tinted windows. Gelda recognized the outline of her master. The imposing silhouette of the Demon King caught her attention. Zeldris scowled at the outline of his father.

The Demon King, the Vampire King, the Fairy king, the Giant King, a representative for the Goddess leader, and no Human king. Most of the leaders of the clans were gathered at the party, and yet tension ran strong. Elizabeth was a strong candidate for peace among the clans but Gloxinia and Dolor did not seem to agree. The Demon King had his own agenda. Vampire King Izraf was unwavering. The balance is now crumbling and Gelda feared what will come next. To her knowledge, King Izraf had not been entirely faithful to the Demon king.

“Zeldris.” She murmured. He stopped. The moonlight shone on him, highlighting the smooth planes of his body. He looked cold, withdrawn from everything around them. The bright, warm light from the ballroom glowed on Gelda, giving her a more human appearance.

“Yes, Gelda?” His black eyes bore into her golden eyes, which were clouded with uncertainty.

“Would you serve the Demon king dutifully during the war?” She asked.

“Yes.” He instantly replied.

“Even if he orders you to kill me and my clan?”

Silence enveloped them. Zeldris looked at her, grief apparent on his face. Gelda smiled, but her eyes were downcast. She cupped Zeldris’s cheek feeling his warmth.

“Will you, Zeldris?”

“I cannot,” he swallowed. He stepped closer, glancing up at the beautiful vampire before him.

“I will do whatever I can to protect you,” he stated. Gelda rubbed his cheek. She ran her fingers through his hair, realizing it was combed back for once. She was not the least bit surprised by his admission, nonetheless it saddened her. Gelda knew they were from two different clans, with different ranks. He was the third son of the Demon King, while she was just a noble attendant for the Vampire Princess. Regardless, she wanted whatever she can salvage tonight. Who knows what troubles the war would bring.

“Okay,” Gelda said. “Dance with me, please.”

Zeldris smiled. He grabbed her by the waist, gently leading her into a waltz. Gelda clapped their hands together, warming them up in the cold night. Gold and silver, black and white, Vampire and Demon, different reasons why they shouldn’t be together. But, tonight they were in harmony.
