Yao: Minshan, is everything in order for tomorrow's sect conference?
Su she: yes Huangdi.
Yao: delightful. We'll head to Moling later.
Xue yang: xiandu, your conferences are always great.
Su she: thank you yangyang. I leant from the best.
Mo xuanyu: see how beautiful the Jianghu is, when Yao gege is in control.
Su she: yes. Everything is just so positive.
Meng Shi: *enters* Yao'er. My baby.
Yao: A-niang.
Meng Shi: *kisses him on his forehead*
Aren't you the chief cultivator? Why is it happening in Moling?
Yao: because I have appointed Minshan as the chief cultivator, as I'm occupied with being Huangdi.
I think he's very brilliant and talented.
He has invented teleportatuon talismans and the Misty spell which disguises ones appearance and sword.
Meng Shi: ahh, how remarkable.
You make the best decisions.
But Yao'er I have one request.
Yao: what's that?
Meng Shi: I want you to host a conference and invite everyone in the Jianghu.
Allies, friends, family and enemies.
Yao: so be it A-niang. *smile*
Meng Shi: I want to see who has been insulting my son.
Xue yang: taihou, are you in your revenge era.
That's kinda badass though.
Meng Shi: I don't want revenge, but justice.
Meng Shi: Yao'er, what's the most open area in your Jing Manor?
Yao: the army training ground.
Meng Shi: well it will be held there.
Yao: mn. As you wish.
And everyone will be in attendance.
Su she: I'll inform them, Huangdi.
~~~
Next day.
The sect leader conference started! And everyone is present. Team dimple, Rusong, Lan xichen, Lan qiren Jiang cheng, the nie bros, wangxian, sect leader yao, sect leader ouyang, Zixuan, Zixun and even Jin guangshan.
(When Minshan has a sect conference, he would exclude guangshan and Zixun.)
There was this shelter in which A-Yao, Rusong, team d and Meng shi sat under~ while the imperial Mengs had attendants fanning them. Other than that, it was more cloudy than anything else and the cultivators comfortably sat adjacent to each other.
Yao: welcome dear cultivators to the annual conference. I know you're all accustomed and well adapted to your new xiandu. Yet I couldn't help but wish to revisit my old position.
Sect leader yao: guangyao cut to the crap already.
Meng Shi: emperor Guangyao.
Sect leader yao: *rolls eyes*
Who's the enchantress.
Jgs: my ex.
Sly: for real??? How did you get that?
Jgs: because I'm rich. And she's a pr*stitute
Sly: not anymore bro. She looks elite.
Jgs: because of that bastard.
Meng Shi: you were saying, Yao huangdi.
Yao: mn. Cultivators, is everything in good shape?
Jiang cheng: yes Huangdi, don't worry.
Mingjue: are we still having a crowd hunt some time?
Yao: yes. With your Su xiandu.
Mingjue: ok.
Yao: please, fellow cultivators. I hope you maintain decorum and valour within the jianghu.
*elegantly takes his seat*
My A-niang, the goddess of Hulijings and empress dowager is back. And she wishes to speak to you.
Yao: make sure to be respectful or else I would punish you without hesitation.
A-niang.
Meng Shi: thank you, Yao'er.
Citizens of the cultivation world! I'm displeased with your mindset.
You dare bully the one who's your Huangdi and chief cultivator.
Sect leader yao: in what way did we bully him!
Meng Shi: do you really want me to read out the list?
Well ok then. You better listen carefully.
You and that evil Zixun had insulted and abused him. Perverted guangshan, you also did the same! Lan Wangji, you attacked him! Jiang bros and Nie Huaisang, you have poked your nose in his business.
And the list goes on.
Tell me, how is being successful despite birth wrong in your society. Why do you have to listen to everything that that yellow creature guangshan let out of his mouth.
Someone lower than you is shunned but one who's equal to you is praised.
Listen to me, despite A-Yao being born in a brothel, he's hulijing royalty. From birth! And so am i!
But you dare have him like a slave.
Xichen: *blushing* oh god. I think I'm in love with a royal hulijing. Heehee.
Mo xuanyu: why are you blushing, Lan lips. He's my Yao gege.
Xue yang: rude cultivators.
Su she: must be said. *blushing*
Meng Shi: now I, the goddess of Hulijings and empress dowager Meng Shi, demand to hear the insults you said about my son.
If you're so brave, you can say it to my face. And I don't believe that A-Yao had led a Jianghu filled with cowards!!
Cultivators: *trembling*
Jgs: meng shi is still kinda hot.
Ouyang zizhen: dimples. I mean empress dowager, I think that the sect leaders were just speaking their mind.
Meng Shi: well let them speak to me. I would love to hear their thoughts.
What do you think about your emperor.
Wait a sec.
*increasing in size*
While she grew into in more magnificent form, her glowing nine tails and ears appeared, her eyes glowed and nails became longer as well as embroidered by gems.
Sly: what kind of illusion this enchantress performed!
All fox spirits are so dangerous.
Zixun: I know right.
Su she: imagine Huangdi in this form.
Mo xuanyu: yeaa. He'll be so gorgeous.
Xue yang: ah yes.
Hauisang: I'm scared. Why did San ge's mom become a giantess.
Rusong: Nainai!! You look amazing!
Why are they afraid of my Nainai.
Xue yang: cuz they're a couple of cowards.
Meng Shi: *sits and crosses her legs*
Proceed.
Zixun: *stood up and unsheaths sword* I'll tell you about your bastard son.
Meng Shi: can you talk without holding your sword like a toy?
I know that Yao'er had sentenced you to 10 years under house arrest but we still invited you to the conference.
Speak.
Zixun: I'm fed up of that son of a whore and his sidekick ruling the Jianghu. And I'm not afraid to cut off your tails.
Meng Shi: *bends the sword between her fingers.* cut them off with what?!
Zixun: you!! You ruined my sword!
Meng shi: now what were you saying about A-Yao.
Zixun: he's is a lowlife. My uncle's outside child.
I hate being related to that.
Meng shi: *Flicks him away with her giantess fingers.
Zixun: falls a few meters away from where he was standing.
Meng shi: Jail him in his room!!
Guards: *taking him up*
Zixun: let go of me!! Don't touch me!!
Meng Shi: anyone else?!
Mingjue: I hated how he killed one of my soldiers
Meng Shi: wasn't he insulting A-Yao, Nie gui fei?
Mingjue: Yao was my Deputy, and he shouldn't have done that!!
Meng shi: that's not what i asked.
A-Yao, I need your memory.
Yao: you're correct, A-niang. He called me the son of a whore, so I stabbed him.
Meng shi: so my Yao'er had to bite his tongue and let people bully him to keep your respect and false pride!
Mingjue: uh just let me explain.
Meng Shi: *thumps him away like Zixun*
Huaisang: DAGE!!!!
Mingjue: *trying to get up* man she's strong.
Meng Shi: next!
Sect leader Ouyang: taihou, us Ouyangs have a healthy relationship with Yao huangdi.
Jiang cheng: yea same here.
Zixuan: you know, Jimu. He's my younger brother.
Wuxian: lianfang zun and I are cool.
Meng Shi: wei wuxian! I and your cultivator goons disrupted my temple! How dare you!
And Huaisang, what were you trying to dig up??
Huaisang: *crying* I'm sorry! I don't know anything!
Meng Shi: well I know. And I know that you and everyone else was trying to sabotage Yao'er, who was only doing a pious job.
Wuxian: we're sorry. I know we should have stayed out of his business.
Meng Shi: fine. You're forgiven, but huaisang isn't.
Huaisang: dang it.
Meng Shi: you have tried to usurp the empire and you vandalized a temple.
Zixuan: Jimu, I have Huaisang as a maid, so he won't trouble Foxy. I mean, Yao Huangdi again.
Meng shi: good.
Keep him occupied.
Meng shi: Lan Wangji.
Lan zhan: taihou.
Meng Shi: you like to stab things, don't you?
Why did you attack him?
Lan qiren: taihou, Wangji was just doing his job! Look, your son had seduced Xichen already. We're on good terms.
Meng Shi: ah, you're pulling the inlaw card.
You and your nephew better treat him right.
And as for you Wangji, if you do anything to my son again, I'll make you his attendant.
Su she: *laughing evilly*
Lan zhan: but I'm a cultivator. I can't be a servant.
Meng shi: of course you can!!
And you'll learn some manners too.
Sect leader yao: I'm completely against him! He's from a place that's shunned upon. And on top of that he's  a fox spirit.
Hulijings are really corrupted.
Meng shi: *thumps him away*
Sect leader yao: *falls unconscious*
Jgs: Meng Shi. We meet again.
That Jin guangyao is ~~
Meng Shi: *thumps him away*
Meng Shi: Jianghu and Hulijings. Your Yao huangdi has restored my title and name back to honour.
Now I'll do the same with him, once again.
He's Meng Guang Zi Yao, also known as Jin Ziyao, the Jin Sect leader and Hulijing huangdi.
Former xiandu, as he passed it on to Su minshan.
Zixuan: *clapping* Ziyao!
Yao: *smiling*
Everyone else: *clapping along*
Jgs: *holding his head* Ziyao?! Never! He could never be equivalent to Zixuan!
Meng Shi: did I ask you to disrupt me!
Jgs: *whimpers*
Meng Shi: what's aching you? Old man!
Jgs: You can't just change his name!
Meng Shi: I named my son at birth. And I can do it again if I wish.
Meng Shi: a proper member of the Jin Sect and the sect leader must have the correct generational name.
A-Yao and Zixuan both run the Jin Sect while being emperors.
Their generational name is Zi. Hence Zixuan, Zixun....and Ziyao.
Afterwards, the Jin Sect will be led by the Ru. Hence Jin Rulan.
Taizi Dianxia Jin Rusong will support his cousin.
Jgs: that's ridiculous!!
Meng Shi: giving my son an outdated name isn't ridiculous?
Anyways, I love his name, as Guang means bright and brilliant. And you aren't bright at all.
Meng Shi: it fits my A-Yao more than it does to you.
Meng Shi: *morphs back to normal*
*sighs* well then. I hope you all enjoy the conference. *looking cute*
And do note if you're still degrading my son, I'll fight the entire Jianghu for him.
Sect leader Ouyang: how did you get so cute and innocent afterwards?
Jiang cheng: A-Yao is the same thing.
Mingjue: that's where he got it from.
Meng Shi: don't forget to grab some mooncakes on the way out.
Except for you, guangshan and sect leader Yao. You're not allowed to have anything tasty.
*cultivators leaving*
Yao: A-niang. What was that?
Meng Shi: justice. *touches his face*
Yao: means a lot.
Meng Shi: anytime dear. It's My job.
Yao: *smile*
Meng Shi: my sweet baby.
Zixuan: *hugs* Ziyao.
Cutie, why are you so emotional.
Yao:I just feel very happy.
Zixuan: aww.
Foxy.
Xichen: mother-in-law. I will~~
Team dimple: *jumping in front of him*
Su she: Huangdi is my lord. I'll make them respect him.
Xue yang: he's in safe hands with us.
Mo xuanyu: we really love Yao gege.
Xichen: *shakes his head*
Meng Shi: splendid.
I know that you three love and respect him.
Lan gui, what were you about to say?
Xichen: I was going to say that i will always protect him.
And support him as well.
Meng shi: awwww.
Accidental Martial God WWX
That was exacty what I meant actually but I do have a few more povs if you want.
LQRs reaction to a demonic cultivator ascending, JGS and JGY reaction to the Yin Tiger Tally moving completely out of reach, WQ pondering the true requirements for ascension given WWX doesn't have a golden core yet ascended, WWX musing on Godhood and on his new followers both the good and the more disturbing worshipers.
Maybe LWJ protects the Wen Remnants because WWX asked him to in a dream and after he succeeds (13 years later) he ascends and is finally reunited with WWX.
Lan Qiren did not know what to think. Wei Wuxian, his most troublesome student, a demonic cultivator, had ascended. He’d ascended. How was that even possible? Were the Heavens blind? Why would they allow someone like Wei Wuxian to ascend?
From what Lan Qiren had thought, only those who are righteous and followed the correct path in life like the Lan clan’s founder, Lan An, would be worthy of ascending.
Either the qualifications for ascension were lower than he thought or Lan Qiren had been horribly mistaken about Wei Wuxian’s personality and motivations for using demonic cultivation. That last thought made Lan Qiren feel very uncomfortable.
He’d always been harsh on the boy and disregarded him, even - he ashamedly admitted - punishing him harsher and more frequently than others.
He’d thought he was in the right because of how Wei Wuxian was but…..
But if he was wrong then Lan Qiren owed him an apology.
………………….
Jin Guangshan wanted to scream out in frustration seeing Wei Wuxian ascend. That brat had the Stygian Tiger Seal on him - according to his spies - and now that he ascended, the Seal went with him.
He had had so many plans on bribing Wei Wuxian to his side or killing him when he refused - as well as stealing the Seal - and then taking over the cultivation world, lording over it as he was always meant to be.
Now those plans are ruined. He sighed. Hopefully that bastard son of his can finally prove his usefulness and give him countermeasures or he might retract his favor from him.
……………………
Jin Guangyao’s first thought upon seeing Wei Wuxian ascend was: Oh shit. I have to go make up new plans to help Father.
He knew his father wanted Wei Wuxian and the Seal and didn’t really care how he obtained both or either, just as long as no one traced it back to him. He sighed. This was going to be a big headache. But at least the plans on putting his father as Chief Cultivator were going smoothly. He could only imagine what his father would do to him if even this failed.
..............................
Wen Qing had still been in Yiling, making plans to relocate her family, when the news that Wei Wuxian had ascended had reached her.
Her first reaction was, That’s impossible.
Because it was, right? Wen Qing should know. She cut out his core, after all. But to think he was still able to ascend while he was a demonic cultivator made her wonder what the requirements were for ascending. Perhaps it’s an honest heart? Self-sacrificing tendencies? Or is it a sacrifice of some sorts? She paused. What if.....it was a trial? To test a person’s will? What Wei Wuxian had suffered was.....horrible. Could it have all been just a test from the Heavens?
If that was so, the Heavens really are cru---
“A Jie, we have to go! Some Jin were spotted nearby!”
Wen Qing gritted her teeth. Members of the branch families of Qishan, regardless of whether they were innocent or not, were captured and subsequently tortured to death by the Jin and sometimes the Nie. Because her family was all in Yiling, they were safe.......but only for now. They had to hurry and escape.
Wen Qing sent a quick prayer to Wei Wuxian, hoping for her family’s safety, and tucked the rest of her belongings in her qiankun pouch, remembering to wrap her arms in bandages to hide the needles she might need to paralyze any Jin that came close.
....................................
Wei Wuxian’s first thought when he landed in the Heavens was, What the fuck.
Then he looked around and looked taken aback and wary at the unfamiliar faces around him. Where the fuck am I?
“Hello.” A rather stoic-faced man greeted.
“Hello.” Wei Wuxian parroted back. The person in front of him didn’t seem to be a threat so he felt a little tension loosen from his shoulders. “Um, Xiansheng? I’m afraid I don’t know where I am?”
“You have just ascended.” The man replied, throwing Wei Wuxian aback.
“Are you pulling my leg?” Wei Wuxian asked. “How is that even possible! I don’t even have---” He swallowed. I don’t even have a core.
“I do not lie. Come, we are wasting time. We must get you washed up and dressed for the induction ceremony.” Seeing Wei Wuxian still frozen, the man sighed, signalled for some people to pick Wei Wuxian up and dragged the struggling man to some quarters.
After absentmindedly washing, drying and changing himself, Wei Wuxian noticed some differences in his body. He wasn’t....cold or hurting anymore. And - he touched his back - he could feel his back! After having his muscles and nerves shredded by Zidian, he didn’t think he’d ever be able to sense touch on his back or even move without pain! But now he can!
He heard the urging of some people and grumbled.
“You will become a god of demonic cultivation.” Was the first thing he heard when he stepped out of the room.
Wei Wuxian choked. “Excuse me?!”
“I said what I said. Now then, if you would please concentrate, you should be able to hear the prayers of the people below.”
Wei Wuxian felt like everything was moving a little too fast for him, but nevertheless complied. Immediately after, a flood of prayers hit him at full force.
“Wei Wuxian!” That was Jiang Cheng! “….Have some fun up there.”
“A’ Xian, do be well. Shijie isn’t there to take care of you so do be well.” Wei Wuxian refused to cry.
“Wei-Xiong! I hope there’s someone up there to supply you with you know what *winks*”
How does someone even wink in their prayers? Wei Wuxian thought amusedly.
“Wei Ying.” That was Lan Zhan. “Wei Ying, I will—be well.”
Ah, Lan Zhan. Always concise even in your thoughts.
Wei Wuxian was a little teary. As much as he was glad to not be a part of the cultivation world considering all the rumors, he did regret leaving behind those that cared for him.
That thought was much more cemented upon hearing…….
“Ah, Lord Wei, the pinnacle of evil, the role model of all demonic cultivators!” Wei Wuxian’s eye twitched. “Please hear my plea for more power! I need it, I need it to destroy everyone who harmed me!”
“Wei Wuxian, I wish to gain power over resentful energy so that I may tear my enemies limb by limb!
“Give me money! You’re a god, aren’t you? Be useful for once and give me some gold!”
“Tch. If I’m going to pray for anything, then it’ll have to be the Seal. You’re a god, now, right? So you have no need for the Seal. Just give it up.”
No matter the good or bad, Wei Wuxian heard the wishes and prayers of the people down below and while some were innocent enough, there were those that wished for death, destruction, tools for torture, power, money, women…….you name it.
It made Wei Wuxian feel a little disgusted with humanity. He cut off his focus from the bad and focused on the prayer he received from his friends and family.
“Wei Wuxian, I heard you became a god.” It was Wen Qing. He hadn’t heard her voice in a long time. “I know this might seem shameless of me after all I did to you, but please. Please guarantee the safety of my family. We’re being hunted down and—”
Her prayer was abruptly cut off, before coming back in full force with notes of desperation. Her family had been captured and taken to Qiongqi Path! Wei Wuxian panicked. He didn’t know how to escape from this place and try to go help her.
The…..person who was watching over him evidently knew what he was thinking about and merely stated that gods cannot interfere with the mortal realm. So he was stuck.
But that didn’t mean he was out of options.
It took a few days, but he managed to wheedle out how to help: via dreams. He merely needed to get into the mind of one of his followers and tell them to help. Much like those prophetic dreams Wei Wuxian had read about as a kid.
So he buckled down, thinking of the best candidate to help him.
……………………………
Lan Wangji looked at the landscape around him and concluded that he was dreaming. Though, it was a little odd that he was aware that he was dreaming. Not that he hasn’t realized he was dreaming before - especially in those many fantasies he had of Wei Ying - but to be aware that this is a dream and to see nothing but a flat landscape was pretty out of the ordinary.
Anyway, he digressed. What was going on?
“Uhh, Lan Zhan? Can you hear me?”
“W-Wei Ying?!” Lan Wangji couldn’t be blamed for stuttering. He wasn’t expecting this!
“Phew. Oh good, you can hear me. Anyway, Lan Zhan, I gotta be quick about this because I’m kinda sorta bending the rules here, but do you think you can go to Qiongqi Path and rescue Wen Qing and her family?”
“Okay.”
“Huh? Just like that? Not even going to ask me for a reason, er-gege?”
Lan Wangji’s ears flushed red at the address. “If Wei Ying wants to save them, you must have a good reason. That’s enough for me.”
“Ah, Hanguang-Jun.” The title was spoken fondly. “Always so good. I’ll tell you anyway. Wen Qing and her family sheltered Jiang Cheng and I after Lotus Pier fell and even brought back Jiang-shushu and Yu-furen’s bodies! That’s a debt I cannot repay.”
“I understand. I will help.”
He couldn’t see Wei Ying, but could practically feel the amusement from him.
“Wei Ying.”
“Yes?”
“Are......Are you well?”
“Of course I am. I’m actually feeling so much better than before.” Wei Ying grumbled, “I’m not even in pain anymore.”
“You were in pain?” Lan Wangji asked worriedly. “Wei Ying, why didn’t you say anything.”
“Lan Zhan, there was nothing you or anyone else could do to alleviate my pain. It doesn’t matter now. I’m okay.”
Lan Wangji was still worried and wanted to speak to him more, but---
“Ah! Looks like my time’s up!” Wei Ying exclaimed cheerfully as the dreamscape wavered. “See you, Lan Zhan!”
Lan Wangji nodded. “See you, Wei Ying.” I’ll catch up to you soon.
.
.
.
And 13 years later, Lan Wangji kept his promise.
Nine Percent scenarios my brain thought of when I first saw their pics
Tumblr media
ALRIGHT FIRST OF ALL!! SILVER KUNKUN!! I’M DEAD!! NEXT OF ALL, I HAVE 2 DIFFERENT OF SCENARIOS WHEN LOOKING AT THIS PIC, MKAY!
SCENARIO 1: Kun saw you attending an event that he was also attending (let’s say mafia/gang meeting, which you have no idea of) and he asked for one of the staffs to guide you to another place so he could meet you and ensures your safety
“Please ensure her to the other room, I’ll be there shortly”
SCENARIO 2: So, second scenario, I can imagine Kun seeing a guy eyeing you from afar (let’s say it’s still the same meeting he was attending) and other men were either trying to come up to you/flirt with you (which, Kun does not approve whatsoever) and he requested permission from the staff so he can go to your side.
“I want them, in a room. Alive.”
Tumblr media
ALRIGHT BOI!! THIS SMILEY SUNSHINE JUST FLIPPED 180 AND BECAME LIKE A CEO (NAHHH, ALSO THIS IS SCENARIO DOESN’T REALLY HV YOU BUT IT INVOLVES YOU, JUST HEAR ME OUT!!)
So, I imagine that Nongnong and you were very close, working under the same company and all. Then, our precious nongnong (because of his hardwork and sunshine smile) was promoted into the CEO of the company and he appointed you to be his assistant. THEN!!! Y’all had to attend this meeting with a business partner which was fine and all until the freaking representative of the business (a guy) was eye-f*cking you, would even discuss the business more with you instead of Nong (because let’s be real here, who would’ve thought this soft boi is the CEO). Time skip to after the meeting, Nongnong requested to meet this representative, alone!!
Then, Nong was like “How about we talk real business here. Like how you were eye-fucking (OMO CURSE NONG) my assistant-girlfriend”
Tumblr media
ALRIGHT, “BEATEN UP” CHENG IS LIKE HAWT?! LIKE HOW?! ALSO, THIS SCENARIO MAY BE A QUICK ONE BUT LIKE, THIS IS WHAT MY BRAIN THOUGHT OF SO YEA...
This pic, I imagine, something happened to you and Cheng was not going to let it slide that easily. After taking care of you and making sure you were safe and rested, he went out and hunted searched for the very people who hurted you. Not letting any of them to catch their breath, putting them down (not permanently, but feel free to imagine this), making sure they know who they were dealing with when they went out to hurt you, even if it means that he’s risking his own life.
“They should’ve gone for the head when they had the chance. Oh well, their loss. What’s done is done”
Tumblr media
Alright, this may be slightly similar to Chengcheng’s scenario but not really. Let’s get to it!!
So, when I first saw this, I immediately thought of both you and Justin were held captive by another gang (9% is a gang of their own and Justin was just so happen to be with only you, not the others, and was busy protecting you, being outnumbered by a lot, hence why you both ended up being held captive). Both of you were in the same room and though it was just Justin getting beaten up for information at first (which he does not leak whatsoever), it wasn’t long before the gang decided to beat you up for information as well, or even to break Justin, making him leak something. INSTEAD!! What they got was a very pissed off Justin who eventually broke free (specifically, when his geges have arrived to save them and it distracted everyone).
Justin then had a one vs one fight with the one that beated you up and the building was starting to collapse. The opposite gang thought that maybe Justin was done for. BUT NOPE, CUE THE PICTURE!! HE SURVIVED
“I’m going to give you a light head-start. By the time I count to five, you better hope that you’ll be able to find an exit because, you’re nex7 (LMFAO CAN’T HELP IT)”
Tumblr media
SOMEONE HELP!! I’M DED (AGAIN). QUICK TALK, THIS HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF THE BEST PHOTO SHOOTS HE HAS DONE!! LIKE THE HAIRSTYLE, OUTFIT, ACCESSORIES (THAT STICK) IS JUST *CHEFS KISS*. ALRIGHT, ONTO THE SCENARIO BEFORE MY BRAIN FORGETS
So, I imagine that (again, 9% was a gang/mafia of their own, that is for a good cause!!) Yanjun was supposed to meet up with a “business partner” which he was not excited to begin with. But when he heard the news that you were hit on by the “business partner”, something in him was just burning up that he decided to invite them to his (more like 9%)’s bar and have a nice talk fight.
“I heard that you like playing with people’s feelings and emotions. Well, I like to play too. I like to play with pool, drinks, *shifts to dark gaze* the items in this bar that will soon fly around and not to mention blood”
Tumblr media
Alright, first things first, let us ignore the yellow fluffy jacket he has and imagine he was wearing a suit XD But alright, just like Kun, I have 2 different scenarios for Mama Ting!!
Scenario 1: He was fighting with a bad guy/person that “accidentally” hurt you and the guy ended up being limp, trying to escape Zhengting. Buth oh ho no boi, you mess with the wrong person. Thanks to his long flexible legs, he managed to get through every obstacle and following the limp guy in the escape stairs.
“You should really save your energy to say your last words instead of escaping from me. Because, let’s be real, you can’t escape. I (actually the whole 9%) own this building”
Scenario 2 (a bit darker/yandere-ish): you had just found out that your boyfriend, Zhengting was basically “obsessed” with you. He doesn’t mind if you were with your friends that are girls. No, he’s actually happy that you have a good social life and maintain it. However, when it comes to guys, that was definitely not the case.
Sure, it seemed that he was the typical “jealous” boyfriend and he tried his best to not let it get the best of him. But when he found out that you and one of your best friends (that is a guy) went out together with your other friends and play an escape room together, to say Zhengting was jealous was an understatement.
He felt slightly betrayed that you didn’t at least let him know that you were going to play an escape room with your friends and one of them just so happened to be your guy best friend. Ho-hoh, beware my friend because you were in for a treat.
What seemed to be a fake horror/thriller escape room quickly shifted to a real one the minute you and your friends heard screaming, realising that the scream came from your guys friend, all of you decided to run for your life. Shouting for help. When you saw Zhengting in the escape room, you were first relieved that your boyfriend came to save you. But when you found out he was the one that killed your guy best friend, you knew you had to escape. Unfortunately, escaping Zhengting after what you had done was nearly impossible.
“Sweetheart, where are you going? You know you can’t outrun me. I think it’s best for you to just give up. I wouldn’t want to harm you”
SORRY FOR THIS SUDDEN TURN OF EVENTS!!
Tumblr media
First and foremost, can someone cast Ziyi (along with his bros) in like an action movie or something like dayum!!!
Alright, this is going to be a short and sweet one. You were basically held hostage and Ziyi finally came (with his bros, don’t worry) to save you. He looked at the situation and quickly diverse a plan so you wouldn’t get hurt anymore.
“Alright, Xiaogui, Cheng, create a diversion. Once they’re distracted, Jun, Justin, take them out but not kill them, we need information to what it is they want from (Y/N). Then I’ll try my best to release (Y/N). Afterwards, Nong and Zhangjing, quickly take her to safety”
Can I just say, dayum Xiaogui!! Boi skipped motorcycle, car, truck and straight for the plane (JK)
Alright, for Xiaogui’s scenario, I feel that him and the others managed to rescue you and some other hostages/victims from the enemy. However, the enemy manages to “escape”. Well, not really, since Xiaogui and Zhengting already devised a plan just in case if the enemy does manage to escape. Which is basically hijacking their system and transport. In this case, their plane 😎😎
“Hi, yes, captain Linkai a.k.a Xiaogui speaking. Do fasten your seatbelt as we prepare to head to prison shortly *cue him putting on those shades*”
OMO!! YOU ZHANGJING IN A BAR?! LIKE!! GUYS!!! HE’S NOT JUST OUT FOR THE FOOD BUT THE DRINKS AS WELL!! OKAY OKAY, SCENARIO!!
The scenario I thought of when looking at this pic of Zhangjing is that he was spying on you and your friends (who were out partying) when the opposing enemy of 9% were at the same bar. At first, Zhangjing would be subtle with the situation. Not really showing himself and all. But when he saw you sitting at the bar and an enemy of the boys decided to hit on you (out of all the girls/guys in the bar), he just bluntly went behind the counter (because let’s be real, I’m sure the boys have enough money to buy a bar, LOL).
“Hi, welcome to our bar. How would you like your drink? Hot? Cold? Or punch? Like what I’m about to do to you if you do not get your hands off of her”
Jealousy is a Bitch
Characters/pairings: FengQing (background HuaLian)
Genre: fluff and fun with a hint of jealousy
Word count: 3117
Summary: Mu Qing has a new friend. Feng Xin is suspicious. Xie Lian is giving out advices while sipping tea. Hua Cheng is annoyed. Feng Xin and Mu Qing realize that no matter what, the both of them are just big idiots whose love language is fighting.
“And then do you know what they fucking said?” Feng Xin’s aggravated tone echoed all around the room of the freshly renovated Puqi shrine.
Xie Lian, put his teacup down and patiently asked, “What did they say?”
“Those assholes had the nerve to say that I’m overreacting and there’s nothing wrong with General Xuan Zhen having a new friend. I swear I’m not going to help them the next time a ghost tries to eat them.”
“You’re kind of overreacting, though,” Hua Cheng commented, sounding extremely bored and mild annoyed after having to listen to Feng Xin’s problems for so long.
“Shut the fuck up, I’m talking to His Highness, not you!”
Xie Lian cut in before those two could have continued arguing.
“Feng Xin, what exactly is bothering you about this new friend of Mu Qing?”
“Can’t you see it, Your Highness? We’re talking about that Mu Qing! He’s the opposite of friendly, how could he suddenly get so close with that guy? Something isn’t right about this!”
“I mean... I agree that it’s unusual but even he could have a friend or two.”
“He already-” Feng Xin stopped himself, sighing and demolishing the ridiculous he already has me, he doesn’t need anyone else thought that was threatening to slip out of his lips. “Anyways, I’m telling you that something is fishy about that guy.”
Hua Cheng spoke up again, “So, what are you going to do about it?”
“What do you mean?”
“You came here to bother us because you’re worried about your crush leaving you for someone better, didn’t you? So I’m asking what you’re planning to do. Don’t tell me that you’re just going to whine to His Highness and then sulk in a corner.”
The eyes of Feng Xin twitched, “Your Highness, can I punch him just once?”
“I’m afraid that if I let you punch him; I would have to let him fight back too. And if San Lang beats you up, who would make sure Mu Qing’s new friend is harmless?”
“I hate the both of you.”
With that, Feng Xin burst out of the door, slamming it behind his back.
“Tch, gege is kindly giving him advice and he’s not even thankful...”
Xie Lian poured fresh tea for both Hua Cheng and himself. “Well, I’m sure he took the advice to his heart.”
Hua Cheng raised his brow. “Do you really think so?”
“He didn’t deny that he has a crush on Mu Qing, did he?” Xie Lian smiled and took a sip of his tea.
*****
Feng Xin was so angry that the passing heavenly officials swore they could see steam coming out of his ears. That damned Crimson Rain Sought Flower! How dare he?! Assuming ridiculous things! He does not have a crush on Mu Qing!
Who would even have a crush on someone as boring, apathetic and hostile?!
Not Feng Xin.
Definitely not Feng Xin.
He merely visited out of worry and suspicion. But if nobody was willing to listen to him then so be it!
“Don’t come begging to me for help when things go wrong!” Feng Xin yelled at nothing in particular and stormed into his golden palace. He passed several alerted subordinates before arriving to his bedroom where he slammed the door shut and punched the wall for good measure.
This was ridiculous.
Everything started a few months ago when the Heavens shook signaling that somebody ascended. The brand-new heavenly official was called Mo Huan and he was a martial god. Apparently, he came from the southern territories and after defeating fearful demons and selflessly protecting the mountain village where he lived, he passed a heavenly calamity and ascended. He seemed like a common little martial god, nothing too special.
Feng Xin would have never bothered to spare more than a glance to newcomers of his kind and so did Mu Qing however, this particular newcomer obviously had other plans. From the first day, he expressed great interest in General Xuan Zhen in particular. He kept babbling on and on about how he’d always visited his temples in the mortal world and that if he ever ascended, he wanted to meet him first. As expected, Mu Qing listened to him indifferently then walked off. Nothing out of the ordinary.
What was out of the ordinary was that from this day onward, Mo Huan kept following Mu Qing around like an enthusiastic puppy, claiming that he wanted to learn from him. Feng Xin expected for Mu Qing to roll his eyes and tell him off but instead what he said was, “Do as you wish.”
And thus, the suspicious friendship between the newly ascended little marital god, Mo Huan and the god of southwest, General Xuan Zhen began. At the same time, the god of the southeast, General Nan Feng’s misery of watching while seething in jealousy also began.
After the battle with the ex-Heavenly Emperor, the relationship between Feng Xin, Mu Qing and Xie Lian gradually started improving. Even without the supervision of Xie Lian, Feng Xin and Mu Qing were not always at each other’s throat. Of course, saying that they argued less would be a stretch, but instead of threatening to kill each other every time they got into an argument changed into merely fighting with words. After a year or two, the missions they took together had also increased and they found that their teamwork was actually very good so they didn’t oppose too much when they had to share the merits. They’d slowly come to realize that going together just meant that they would be able to finish earlier.
Soon, the public relationship between the two generals wasn’t that of two generals fighting for dominance over the southern region but that of two generals guarding the southern region together.
They were almost something like partners.
And maybe, just maybe Feng Xin started to quite enjoy the company of his partner.
And now it was getting stolen away.
By that suspicious, shady asshole.
Whatever!
If Mu Qing would rather hang around that newbie, Feng Xin wouldn’t stop him. If Mu Qing was too stupid to realize that there’s something wrong with that guy, Feng Xin wouldn’t care.
*****
“I definitely do not care, I’m just giving a last warning,” Feng Xin muttered to himself while pacing in front of Mu Qing’s golden palace. “If he still won’t listen, he can die for all I care.”
Steeling his resolve and organizing his thoughts, he turned to the door, raised his hand and-
The door opened before him as Mu Qing stepped out. Their gazes met for a moment, and both of their eyes widened in surprise.
Mu Qing collected himself first, asking as he closed the door behind him, “What do you want?”
“Be careful with that new guy. He’s definitely scheming something,” Feng Xin stated. Mu Qing rolled his eyes and Feng Xin could feel the irritation growing in himself again. “I’m warning you for your sake!”
“Don’t you think that I would notice if he was ‘scheming’ something?”
“W-well... maybe you’re being a dumbass and he deceived you!”
Mu Qing’s brows twitched. “Yeah? If you’re done with calling me a dumbass then I’m going. I have a mission with him.”
Feng Xin’s entire face turned red from anger, frustration and a sense of betrayal. It was a well-known fact in the Heavenly Capital that General Xuan Zhen never ever goes on missions together with someone. He’d always been working alone. He’d only ever joined hands with Feng Xin, claiming that it’s only because their territories are very close and it’s unavoidable. Now he was saying that he was about to go on a joint mission together with that shady newbie who kept sucking up to him?
“What’s so good about him anyways...” Feng Xin muttered through gritted teeth, a second away from exploding.
“Well for starters, he’s a lot less annoying than you.” Mu Qing turned his head to flash him a taunting smirk before leaving, his grin widening as he heard the string of curses flying from Feng Xin’s mouth.
*****
Of course, Mu Qing knew that Mo Huan wasn’t hanging around him out of the pure goodness of his heart. He had been a god for more than 800 years now. He wasn’t that easy to fool. Some might call him the most unapproachable man, why would he blindly trust someone after a bit of flattery?
Feng Xin was truly the most annoying out of all. Mu Qing didn’t trust him for a whole 800 years, why would he ever begin to think that he’d lost all sense of reason for this new guy? Was he out of his mind?
In any case, as the saying goes: keep your friends close and keep your enemies even closer. He would find out what Mo Huan wanted from him and deal with it himself. In the meantime, he might as well entertain himself with watching Feng Xin lose his mind over it.
However, what Mu Qing didn’t expect was that after that warning last time, he wouldn’t be able to see Feng Xin lose his mind and flap around in frustration anymore.
*****
“And then do you know what he fucking did?”
Xie Lian took a sip of his tea as he listened to Mu Qing, feeling a strange sense of déjà vu wash over him. “What did he do?”
“He slammed the door against my face! What the fuck?” Mu Qing slammed his own teacup harshly down on the table, spilling its contents.
Hua Cheng shot him a glare, daring him to waste even a drop of the tea His Highness generously gave him. Xie Lian quickly interjected to dissolve the tense atmosphere.
“And what happened to this new martial god?”
“What do you think happened? I knocked him out. Fucking bastard, trying to steal my merits.”
“If I recall, something similar happened before, didn’t it?”
Mu Qing snorted, “It’s the third time this century. These newly ascended brats have no shame, I swear. That’s not the point. The point is that dumbass Feng Xin is throwing a temper tantrum again and if he keeps at it, I’m gonna smash down his golden palace. What the fuck is even wrong with him?”
Xie Lian and Hua Cheng shared a look.
Xie Lian nodded.
“So, what are you going to do about it?” Hua Cheng asked.
“What does it have to do with you?” Mu Qing glared.
“Gege, can I punch him just once?”
“Come at me, you bastard!”
“No fighting in my shrine.”
The two of them kept glaring daggers at each other but otherwise didn’t do anything. Finally, Hua Cheng sighed, “You came here to bother us because you’re worried about your crush refusing to talk to you, didn’t you? So I’m asking what you’re planning to do. Don’t tell me that you’re just going to whine to His Highness and then sulk in a corner.”
“None of your business, I’m leaving,” Mu Qing downed the remaining of his tea in one gulp, angrily slammed down the cup again and stormed out of Puqi Shrine.
Hua Cheng grinned. “I can’t believe this actually worked.”
“He didn’t deny that he has a crush on Feng Xin, either,” Xie Lian chuckled then poured another cup of tea for himself and Hua Cheng.
*****
Mu Qing rammed his fist on the door of Feng Xin’s golden palace, yelling, “Open up, you bastard!”
Crushing the whole thing down was a last resort but if anyone doubted that he would dare to do it, they were horribly wrong. Feng Xin had three more minutes left before his beautiful palace became one with the ground.
Who did he think he was? Giving unneeded advice, taking Mu Qing for a naïve fool then refusing to see him and sulking. It was way too unreasonable even for someone as stupid as Feng Xin. Just what the hell was wrong with him? Fucking dumbass making him think about him and worry. He totally deserved having his door bust down.
“What are you doing here?” Feng Xin’s voice came from behind and Mu Qing turned around as fast as a strike of lightning.
Turns out Feng Xin wasn’t home…
In any case, Mu Qing stomped his way over and unceremoniously punched him in the face.
Feng Xin flew a few meters back but it only took him a second to jump up to his feet and yell, “What the fuck was that you bastard?! Did you finally go insane?!”
Mu Qing caught up to him and grabbed him by the collar of his robe with two hands. “It’s the least you deserved, you shithead! Try avoiding me again and I’ll beat up your sorry ass!”
Feng Xin looked away and spat through gritted teeth, “You didn’t seem like you need my company…”
“What?” The rusty clogs in Mu Qing’s brain turned around and around before a light bulb suddenly lit up. The fists around Feng Xin’s robe loosened and his eyes widened. “Don’t tell me you’re jealous…”
Feng Xin’s cheeks reddened and his voice faltered for a second. It was only a minuscule gesture but it was more than enough for Mu Qing. “W-why would I be jealous?!”
“Are you scared of me replacing you with the newbie?” he taunted.
“Fuck you, I don’t care who you’re hanging out with.”
“If you don’t care then why are you avoiding me?”
“Because I don’t want to see your stupid face!”
“What if I want to see your stupid face?”
“What?”
Feng Xin saw a flicker of light passing through Mu Qing’s dark eyes and in the next moment, he felt a pair of lips press firmly against his own. His mind was wiped clear in that second and he only regained his senses when the absence of the warm lips left him with a sense of need.
“W-w-w-what the fuck was this??”
“A kiss, idiot,” Mu Qing rolled his eyes.
“I’m asking why you k-k-kissed me?”
“Isn’t that obvious?”
“Fuck, Mu Qing would it kill you if you used your words for once?”
“Would it kill you if you used your brain for once?”
“…”
Mu Qing sighed, “Anyways, you don’t have to worry about Mo Huan anymore so stop avoiding me.”
“What happened?” Feng Xin got successfully side tracked. His brain was really too simple.
“Left him in a forest in the mortal world after beating him up,” Mu Qing shrugged, his grin reappearing by the sight of Feng Xin’s gaping. “What, I told you I can deal with him myself.”
“But weren’t you guys getting along? You said he’s less annoying than me?”
“Feng Xin, literally everyone is less annoying than you.”
“F-“
“But at least you’re not insufferable…” This time, it was Mu Qing’s turn to look away as a blush crept up on his face.
Feng Xin stared at him, completely dumbfounded before his cheeks also took on a pink hue as he slowly realized that this, in fact, was the nicest thing Mu Qing had ever said to him. He couldn’t stop his heart from fluttering.
“What’s the stupid grin for?”
Feng Xin quickly cleared his throat and muttered a “nothing” but for some reason, he couldn’t quite wipe the smile spreading on his face even wider. In the end, Mu Qing’s embarrassment got the better of him and he promptly decided to leave.
Seeing his retreating back, Feng Xin collected himself and jogged up to him, saying, “No need to be embarrassed, I like you too.”
“Shut up.”
Feng Xin followed Mu Qing back to his golden palace.
“Do you really like me, though? I mean... you don’t really... like people...” Feng Xin said, closing the door behind himself and meeting Mu Qing’s glare head on.
“You know what, I don’t really mind if you ignore me. Get out of my palace.”
“No way, you already kissed me.”
“So what?”
“So there’s no turning back. Finish what you stared.”
“It was you who started by being stupid and jealous.”
“That’s not the point.”
Mu Qing felt a headache coming up. “That’s exactly the point. You were a jealous sulking little bitch instead of using your nonexistent brain to figure out that I’m not a dumb 10 years old who’s so easy to fool.”
“Who are you calling a sulking little bitch?” Feng Xin’s short fuse was once again ignited.
“Do you see anyone else here? Are you not only brainless but also blind?”
“Shut the fuck up!”
A glint flashed in Mu Qing’s eyes. Arguing with this man was really the best thing in his life. It was fun, it was interesting to examine his reactions and the way his expression changed, it kept him on his toes, it made him feel excitement instead of apathy and disgust. Above everything, it was comfortable. The two of them had been at it for more than 800 years without a break, they knew every single one of the other’s buttons to push. They were on the same level so neither of them got hurt and even if it escalated to a fight, they could just fight it out and release stress without having to worry about gravely injuring their opponent. For Mu Qing, Feng Xin was just the perfect partner.
So when Feng Xin told him to shut the fuck up, he only smirked and said two words, “Make me.”
And as if it was all according to a script, Feng Xin grabbed him by the collar and smashed their lips together. The kiss was messy, their teeth were clashing but it was filled with unsaid passion and a weird sense of comfort.
It was only then that they could confirm what they had begun to feel already.
They’re feeling the same for each other.
They’re dealing with those feelings in a similar way.
They finally understand each other without words, and they could understand the hidden meaning behind each word.
That whatever they had to give, the other would accept it readily.
That they were equals.
*****
“Gege, they started making out,” Hua Cheng reached out a hand to show Xie Lian the image the wraith butterfly displayed. Xie Lian stared at it for second before smiling.
“It was time.”
Hua Cheng quickly dismissed the butterfly and pulled Xie Lian into his arms. “Gege’s so kind and patient for helping those two fools, they don’t deserve you.”
“I didn’t do anything. If anything, it was you who gave them a little push.” Xie Lian’s eyes sparkled with fondness. “So, that means you’re kinder and more patient than me.”
“...” Left speechless and embarrassed, Hua Cheng opted for capturing Xie Lian’s lips, feeling quite content with how everything turned out.
It is a Summer Day
also available on ao3
The best thing about this party is the way Wei Ying relaxes warm and pliant into Lan Wangji’s side. Granted, he also enjoys time spent with their friends. Their friends, he thinks to himself, stomach turning strangely light and fluttery at the very idea. No longer does Lan Wangji politely associate with Wei Ying’s friends or with his Brother’s. They are each in their own right Lan Wangji’s, their simple presence battling the cold loneliness that used to encompass his daily routine.
When Wei Ying had been delirious with fever and Lan Wangji had been too afraid to leave his side for even the smallest of moments, he had called Jiang Yanli, panting into the phone as his hands fluttered careful butterfly touches to Wei Ying’s sweating face.
“Yanli-jie,” he’d whispered, just loud enough for the receiver to pick up, the closest to a sheer panicked cry Lan Wangji has ever let himself release in public, “I need help, it’s Wei Ying, Wei Ying.”
He knew in his rational mind that he should not have worded it this way, that it would have only served to cause her too much worry, but Wei Ying had coughed and pressed his face into the palm of Lan Wangji’s hand. Jiang Yanli had simply turned on her best Big Sister voice and said, “I’ll be right over.”
And in a flourish of purple and sisterly love, she had swept into the apartment and fixed everything. She’d forced Wei Ying up and fed him a soup so red and so spicy Lan Wangji was afraid to even smell it, but she had assured him it would help Wei Ying sweat out his fever and then, after the man was well fed, she had forced him to take medicine with a stern look, quietly accomplishing a task that Lan Wangji had not yet been successful in. Then, once Wei Ying was settled into a much more peaceful rest, bed adorned with fresh sheets, hands gripping onto the fluffy white sweater that Lan Wangji had changed him into, Yanli had left the room only to return with another, far less red, bowl of soup.
“Lan Wangji,” she had said, voice gentle, coaxing, setting the bowl down in front of him, “You need to eat as well.”
“Jiang Yanli,” he replied, finally turning away from Wei Ying, bowing as he acknowledged her, “Thank you for taking care of Wei Ying, but you do not need to waste your time looking after me as well. I can take care of myself.”
“Mmm,” she’d hummed, smiling that tiny, soft smile at him, the one she usually reserves for her little brothers, “I’m sure you can.”
And then, in a display of kindness that Lan Wangji very rarely experiences directed at himself, Jiang Yanli reached a hand out and began to pet his hair, her path soft and relaxing and never wavering even when Lan Wangji’s gut reaction was to tense his shoulders and halt his breathing. She’d continued petting him as he relaxed into it and said, “But you’ve been taking such good care of my brother, I fear you’ve forgotten to take care of yourself. Let me help you, Wangji-di.”
So, Lan Wangji had folded, just like he’d seen Wei Ying and Jiang Wanyin fold under Yanli’s caring gaze countless times before. He ate the soup and praised her cooking skills and she never once complained that he did all of this without ever taking his eyes off of the sleeping form in front of him.
And when Wei Ying had gone home to Yunmeng for two weeks and Lan Wangji had stayed alone in their apartment because he couldn’t get the time off work, when by the fourth night of eating dinner in the silence of his kitchen and he’d thought he would surely suffocate in the quiet, Nie Huaisang had run over, slamming the flat of his palm against Lan Wangji’s door with an urgency that had him up and sweeping across the room in an instant.
“Lan er-Gongzi! Lan er-Gongzi!” Nie Huaisang had cried, falling into Lan Wangji as he had once watched the man fall into Lan Xichen, dramatic and flailing, fan ever wafting air in no clear direction, “I have cooked too much food! It will go to waste!
“er-Gongzi, er-Gongzi, Da-ge will kill me if I waste anymore food, he’s already yelled at me about it twice this week!” he cries into the shoulder of Lan Wangji’s cashmere sweater, “You have to come eat with us!” and with that he had dragged Lan Wangji across the hall and sat him down at the table where three plates of food had already been artfully constructed before Lan Wangji had even agreed to come.
And so, Lan Wangji knows they are his friends as well, and he does genuinely enjoy his time with them. But Wei Ying has always consumed what feels like Lan Wangji’s entire being and to have him like this; half drunk and warm, pushed up under Lan Wangji’s arm, holding his hand tight between two of his own in the interim between making wild gestures as he speaks, loud, expressive movements that veer further and further into Lan Wangji’s space the more he drinks. He leans his head on Lan Wangji’s shoulder, throws a leg on Lan Wangji’s lap where they’re all spread out on the floor of Nie Huaisang’s apartment.
Lan Xichen sits primly on the couch above them with Nie Mingjue, the most comfortable spot in the entire apartment, a fact which Nie Huaisang had lamented against when he’d walked into the room to find his brother had commandeered the spot he had intended for himself.
“This couch is for older brother’s,” Nie Mingjue had said, “It is our payment for having to deal with you all these years.”
“Hey!” Wei Ying had called back, climbing half on top of Lan Wangji in his effort to turn and face Mingjue, “I’m an older brother and I don’t get a spot up there!”
“You could,” Lan Xichen plays, a pleasant smile on his face as he scoots closer to Mingjue, patting the spot next to him, “But then you’d have to leave behind Wangji.”
It’s stupid and Lan Wangji knows what his brother is doing, teasing Wei Ying about and Lan Wangji by default. Lan Wangji closes his eyes and hopes Wei Ying doesn’t rise to the bait even as he feels himself squeeze Wei Ying’s hand in his own just a little tighter.
Wei Ying only half succumbs to the obvious teasing, as it turns out. He settles himself more firmly against Lan Wangji, planting a knee on either side of him so that he can stay close all while turning his chin up to grin mischievously at Xichen, “Of course not, Xichen ge-ge!”
One of his hands comes up to comb through Lan Wangji’s long, silky, hair, “I would just take him with me! There’s always room for Lan Zhan on my lap!”
“Wei Ying,” Lan Wangji chastises, even as his hands move to rest on Wei Ying’s hips, holding him in place, ignoring the small bubble of warmth that spreads through him at the very idea that Wei Ying will never leave him behind, will drag Lan Wangji with him wherever he should go.
“Wei Wuxian!” Jiang Cheng yells from the otherside of the room, tone considerably more admonishing, more angry, than the fond exasperation Lan Wangji had used. The man is loud and his voice alone brings a grimace to Lan Wangji’s face. Jiang Cheng, he thinks, still remains one of Wei Ying’s friends. He can keep him, “Have you no shame! Get off Wangji before my eyes melt out of my face!”
“Aiyah, Jiang Cheng, so dramatic,” Wei Ying pouts, moving incredibly slowly out of Lan Wangji’s lap and settling on the floor next to him once again, though he leaves one leg strewn over the taller man’s lap, hand ever reaching up to pull at Lan Wangji’s sleeve, pet his face or thread their fingers together as he pleases, “Go get your poor gege a drink for all the trouble you’ve caused him.”
“You’re lucky I don’t break your legs!” Jiang Cheng yells again, launching a pillow at Wei Ying from the otherside of the room, rolling his eyes when Lan Wangji throws an arm out in front of him, letting it bounce off his forearm with an unimpressed stare rather than let it run it’s course to Wei Ying’s face.
“So mean,” Wei Ying pouts even deeper, turning back around to Lan Xichen to say, “How does it feel to be the only one in the room with a good didi?”
“What!” Jiang Cheng squawks, suddenly torn between being angry at Wei Wuxian and refusing to be shown up by Lan Wangji of all people. After a moment's consideration, he stands with a huff and stomps out of the room, entirely missing the grin of victory in Wei Ying’s face.
“It has always been a blessing to have Wangji as a little brother,” Xichen replies, smile serene and innocent but eyes flicking over to Wangji with a look the younger man resolutely does not like, “Even when he only ever wanted to discuss one thing.”
“Lan Zhan? What-” Wei Ying begins, turning to Lan Wangji with the same look of desperate curiosity he’s always had when he finds there is still uncharted territory of his boyfriend to discover. He seems to put it together halfway through asking though, eyes lighting up and he leans in even closer, “Oh! You had a crush on me, Lan Zhan!”
“Wei Ying.”
“That’s just so cute!”
“We are dating.”
“Still,” Wei Ying says, leaning his face in to nuzzle into the crook of Lan Wangji’s neck like an over affectionate cat, “Cute.”
“You are a paramount of true love!” Nie Huaisang cries, laughing when Wei Ying sticks his tongue out at him, “The inspiration of fanfictions everywhere! A true slow burn!”
“Slow burn?” Jiang Cheng scoffs as he reenters the room, shoving a drink unceremoniously at Wei Ying, “These two? More like enemies to lovers.”
It does not upset Lan Wangji that Jiang Cheng says this. He does not expect much from the other man, not when he has never before shown any respect or deference to Lan Wangji’s relationship with Wei Ying. So it is fine that he thinks this, this oversimplification of misunderstood actions. It doesn’t even really bother Lan Wangji that everyone else seems to be nodding along, as if what he said has made perfect sense, as if he’s right.
What bothers him is the way Wei Ying stiffens against his side. It bothers him that when he looks down at the smaller man, he catches a glimpse of old hurt flash across his eyes. It bothers him that Wei Ying settles himself by grabbing onto Lan Wangji’s hand, bringing it up to his mouth and pressing a gentle kiss to his knuckles, like he is reassuring himself that they are here now, together. It bothers him that Jiang Cheng preens smugly on the other side of the room as if he has enlightened them all with some deeper truth because he couldn’t be more wrong.
“A-Cheng,” Jiang Yanli chides from the other side of the room, a disappointed twinge in the furrow of her eyebrows, “Don’t be mean to A-Xian.”
Jiang Cheng slumps in his seat as if he’d been thoroughly chastised, though Lan Wangji thinks she’s been far too nice to him all these years. Especially when he looks over and sees the wide, plastic smile on Wei Ying’s face as he calls out, “It’s okay, Shijie, besides everyone knows it doesn’t matter how you start, as long as we end up lovers!”
“No,” Lan Wangji argues, quiet but firm, wrapping his arm around Wei Ying’s waist and pulling him in closer.
“No?” Wei Ying asks, looking up at him with a confused wrinkle settling on his forehead, top lip parted the tiniest bit.
“Always lovers,” he says back, ignoring the way everyone in the room stares at them. He doesn’t know enough about fanfiction tropes to come up with a term that accurately describes their relationship so he settles on pressing his nose in hard to the shadow between the corner of Wei Ying’s jaw and his ear, letting his lips brush against the curve of Wei Ying’s neck as he continues speaking, breathing the words directly into his skin so that they can seep inside him and make a home in his lungs, so they can expand with every inhale and Wei Ying can feel the warmth of his love with every breath he takes, “Always lovers. Always want Wei Ying.”
“Lan Zhan!” Wei Ying cries, one hand flying up to grasp at his own heart. Lan Wangji can feel the way his skin warms underneath his touch, a sure sign that the smaller man is blushing, but he never leans away, instead pushes further into Lan Wangji’s embrace, “You can’t just say things like that! Your poor Wei Ying’s heart can’t take it!”
“Mn,” Lan Wangji hums, waiting for Wei Ying to relax in his arms before adding, “We will have to strengthen it then. With practice.”
“Lan Zhan!”
::
The next day finds Lan Wangji studiously scrolling through increasingly strange websites, a journal at his side. The websites or stories do not make much sense to him but the basic overarching plot lines do, so he combs through description after description, writing down any one of them that makes him think of Wei Ying.
When his list is sufficiently long, he organizes each of the tags by how he feels Wei Ying will react to them and then prints them all neatly onto a sheet of paper, using his best penmanship. When that task is accomplished, he simply takes it to their room and places it on Wei Ying’s bedside table, leaving it for the other man to find when he inevitably runs into their room like a tornado, whipping off his own clothes in favor of one of Lan Wangji’s too big shirts.
He doesn’t have to wait long as it turns out, because within the hour Wei Ying is rolling into the house yelling, “Lan Zhan, Lan Zhan, don’t start the show without me, I just need to change out of my stupid work clothes!”
Following Wei Ying, footsteps softened by the plush carpet lining their floors, he watches the man attempt to throw his shirt off too fast, get stuck halfway through and then finally, finally (after a very dignified dance to get said shirt off) pauses in front of his table, picking up the paper slowly, mumbling to himself, “What is this?”
He watches Wei Ying read the words, lips moving as he reads them over, fingers tracing lightly over the page again and again, “Lan Zhan?” he calls, turning around and jumping a little when he finds the man in question already there.
“Hm?” Lan Wangji hums, letting his lips pull up in the corners, just a little. Wei Ying just holds the list out to him, though, eyebrows wrinkling together in confusion, “Wei Ying was misinformed. So I made him accurate notes.”
“Lan Zhan, what are you talking about?” Wei Ying asks again, eyes flicking rapid fire between the paper in his hands and Lan Wangji’s form, eyes reading Lan Wangji more than the sheet, “I mean, love at first sight? Lan Zhan?”
“We were never enemies to lovers,” Lan Wangji says, waking closer to Wei Ying, one hand reaching out to brush a lock of hair behind his ear, fingers lingering on the soft curve of his jaw, “Never enemies.”
“Ah,” Wei Ying nods, lips pursing as he lets his gaze fall from Lan Wangji’s face. When they return back up, there is a smile painted on his lips with a tight edge in the corners. Wei Ying spends so much time bragging about being able to read Lan Wangji, he forgets Lan Wangji can read him back just as well, “This is about what Jiang Cheng said?”
“Nn.”
“It’s okay, Lan Zhan, really,” Wei Ying continues on, either ignoring Lan Wangji’s dismissal or too caught up in his own rant to notice, “I know I annoyed you when we first met, which is really your fault for making me like you so much. But I understand why you didn’t like me then, I’m a lot to handle and that can be-”
“Wei Ying is a lot to handle,” Lan Wangji concedes, bringing his thumb down to trace the soft outline of Wei Ying’s upper lip, memorizing the way it crests at the top before sloping down again, “But he has never been my enemy. Have always liked Wei Ying. It is not about what Jiang Wanyin said, but that Wei Ying did not correct him.”
“Lan Zhan, you don’t have to-”
“Read the list,” Lan Wangji interrupts for the second time that day. His uncle would be ashamed but Lan Wangji has never been very good at listening to anyone, especially the man himself, speak negatively about Wei Ying. When Wei Ying seems to make no movements to look away, he begins speaking the words into existence himself, “Love at first sight,  love confessions, firsts - everything, soulmates-”
“Lan Zhan!” Wei Ying cries, paper now crumpled in one hand, forgotten entirely as he dives in Lan Wangji’s space, burying his face into the home of Lan Wangji’s neck, which has always been safe and warm and inviting, “Lan Zhan, you don’t have to, I know it wasn’t like that when we first met, it’s okay, it’s okay, I’m not for everyone but you like me now-”
“Wei Ying has always been for me,” Lan Wangji says, arms wrapping tight around Wei Ying’s waist, trying to smooth out each of the little shivers that go through the other man’s body, “From the very moment we met, Wei Ying has been mine, has been everything I want, loved Wei Ying then just as I love him now.”
“Lan Zhan,” Wei Ying laughs wetly against him, one hand reaching up to tug gently on a strand of fine black hair.
“Wei Ying, Wei Ying,” he says back, one hand petting down Wei Ying’s back again and again, “I apologize for not saying anything then but from the moment we met Wei Ying has been everything to me, my love, my life.”
Wei Ying stays like that, breaths coming out in little huffs against Lan Wangji’s neck, arms too tight around his shoulders, though Lan Wangji would never shake him off. He can feel it when the man in his arms finally starts to relax, one of his hands coming up to run deft fingers through Lan Wangji’s hair.
“Lan Zhan, Lan Zhan,” he says quietly against him, “I can’t believe you think all of these things about me, that you have since the start.”
“Believe them.”
“But this one,” he begins, shuffling back so he can look Lan Wangji in the eye, “The last one just says happy ending.”
“Mn.”
“But Lan Zhan! We don’t have an ending!” he exclaims, lips pouting out in a way that is far too enticing for Lan Wangji to resist, so he leans forward and presses a small kiss there and one to the mole right below for good measure, “Lan Zhan, we haven’t ended yet.”
“We have not,” Lan Wangji agrees, leaning in with closed eyes to run his nose along Wei Ying’s cheekbone, trailing down his jaw, pressing gentle kisses as he goes, “But when we do it will be happy, Wei Ying, because any ending with you will be happier than I could have ever dreamed of.”
“Lan Zhan, you can’t just say things like that!” Wei Ying shouts but he doesn’t fight the press of lips that silence him, instead pushes further in, then dragging Lan Wangji back with him until they both collapse into their bed, which is, coincidentally, exactly where Lan Wangji wanted them.
Coda
Their bed is the perfect place for them to find a home in each other; in soft lips and searching fingers and warm, bare, skin saved only for each other. It is Wei Wuxian’s favorite place to be because he can pull Lan Zhan on top of him, nestle in between pillows and blankets and the comforting weight of the most beautiful man he’s ever known and he can forget the world, forget anything that doesn’t involve being cradled by soft palms and long fingers, bracketed in by strong legs and held together by it all at once.
Except his phone.
His phone which will not stop ringing on his bedside table.
“What?” he asks into the receiver without bothering to look at the caller ID, not when Lan Zhan is still above him, nosing at his neck, teeth stinging on his collar bone.
“Tell your boyfriend,” Jiang Cheng yells into his ear, disgust clear in his voice, “That he’s as shameless as you are!”
“Lan Zhan?” he asks, eyes now scrunching up to look at the man above him, “What did Lan Zhan do?”
“He knows!” Jiang Cheng shouts again before abruptly ending the call.
“Lan Zhan, baobei,” Wei Ying says, reaching out to cup one hand under the other man’s jaw, thumb tracing the outline of his cheek, “What did you do?”
“Emailed the list to Jiang Wanyin, with an explanation for each,” he replies easily enough, leaning into Wei Wuxian’s touch as he does, “Needed to be corrected.”
Wei Wuxian stares at him for a moment, two, before bursting into peels of laughter, legs and arms wrapping around Lan Zhan’s waist and shoulders, trapping him in closer as if Lan Zhan was planning to move anywhere else. When he turns his whole body to the side, stomach still bursting with amusement, he brings Lan Zhan down with him, thunking his head against the taller man’s sternum, breathing his laughter into his chest, “Lan Zhan, Lan Zhan, I love you so much even when you’re petty. Especially when you’re petty.”
“Not petty,” Lan Zhan argues, one big hand splayed across the small of his back now moving up to rest in the valley between his shoulder blades, “Only right.”
Wei Wuxian tackles him them, hands pressing Lan Zhan’s shoulders into the mattress beneath him as he leans down to press gleeful kisses to every patch of skin he can reach, “I love you, I love you, I love you-”
“Mm, love Wei Ying,” Lan Zhan hums in response, hand holding firm to Wei Wuxian’s hips, smiling up at him, all warm and soft, blinking slow, “Have always loved Wei Ying.”
JJK manga spoilers at the undercut! long tanget at the undercut!
(Continued for the storytelling!) Okay so 👀 in a very tragic turn of events where Gojo tries to Yuta-style his way out of the Prison Realm, but it goes oopsies and he's actually 'dead' dead and MC stares in disbelief at what she's seeing because this can NOT be real, oh but I'm sorry it is. And this is the one thing, the image of his best friend lying dead in front of him, that gives Geto much longer control over his body and he crawls over to Gojo and his hands are shaking.
(Part 2) He's clawing at himself to wake up from this nightmare to no avail. Nothing will change what's happened and MC flips, kicks him in the face, grabs him by his clothes and slams him onto the nearest surface yelling about how "is this what it takes for you to finally snap out of it?!" why couldn't he have done it sooner??! MC is filled with rage. That's not Geto. She knows it's not Geto, but she's just so angry from her warped sorrow and tells him that even though he changed so much.
(Part 3) and did all those things as a Curse User, she still grieved for him. She missed him so freaking much, dreaming of what could be with all of them together. She hated the fact he had to die because of those actions, and now??? What good is snapping out of it now when she knows she'll have to kill him again because the real Geto already died once before and once she ends the life of whatever is controlling him, the remnents of Suguru will die out again as well. Shes losing them both again.
(Part 4) "What went wrong those 11 years ago??!" They're both such idiots, she thinks, crying furiously. Stupid mistakes, stupid actions. What was Satoru thinking? Why would he try something like that? Why couldn't they have communicated better, why did all those little things have to add up until they got to this point, something that never should've happened? The pain and the sorrow, the hammering of her heart and difficulty breathing is too much. "I can't live in a world without Satoru."
(Part 5) And Suguru looks so sad, and he tries to tell her it's the real him- she knows, tells her that he's sorry. Tries to crawl over back to Satoru's corpse, MC tells him bluntly that he better not lose control as she lets him while keeping a careful eye on him, she won't let Satoru get hurt if the Thing takes over again. She can see in between his words and mumbling to his friend's corpse that he's fighting, and fighting even more once he tells her the name of what's controlling him.
(Part 6) "Kenjaku." He pleads with her, crying out her name to listen as he says. The Thing was after the Six Eyes, with Satoru dead another will be born, but a baby cannot replace The Strongest, the Honored One, (oh how she knows, Satoru was all she had left.) What he asks of her, is impossible. She cannot defile his body in such a way. To take out his eyes, replace her own with them. Her body is compatible to different cursed energies, like moldable clay, and with Shoko's healing.
(Part 7) the transplant has a chance of working flawlessly. She hates it. Satoru is worth more than his stupid powers, but Suguru is trying hard to fight Kenjaku twisting his tongue and silencing his voice, he's croaking out desperately, that if she wants everyone to live, for all her friends to live and defeat The Thing then she must. The Six Eyes have always been its worst enemy. She cannot let that power die out when the world needs it for salvation. She agrees.
(Part 8) She apologies. For kicking him in the face. It's fine, Suguru says, he's forgives it, and he knows it was somewhat deserved. Its time now, they know what needs to be done. It's over quick and easy, one shot through his heart, and not a trace of blood drops to the ground, the wound seared shut from the heat of her attack. The only traces of Suguru Geto that remains on this earth are the bloodstains miles away from here in Shibuya, at the Tomb of the Star, where destiny was destroyed.
(Part 9) Before she ends it all, she makes a wish. If they were to be reborn again, it'd be nice if they could find each other once more and make sure everything goes right. Suguru had smiled when she let her technique go. He too, had promises to keep. "Say hello to Satoru in heaven for me." She forces a smile on her own face, tears having not yet dried. No use holding onto her rage as she takes away Suguru's life. That shouldn't be the last thing he sees.
(Part 10) She'll have to comfort herself with this, that they were at least together now. She hopes they can rest peacefully, it'll be the only kind thing given to them at this point. It'd been far too long and they deserve that rest so long overdue from the harsh tales their birth had woven into them. (Reaching for Gojo's eyes feels like betrayal. Note: I want that one line to be a total opposite of another line earlier on in their fight where she says, "Well then, come dance with me in hell!")
(Part 11) when fake!Geto probs said something about sending her there as a farewell or goodbye or whatever, idk haven't worked that bit out yet lol. It's so I can contrast the change in her negative mindset to being much calmer, to think of something more positive for those two. That 'that's' where they'll be. Suguru isn't the kind of evil Kenjaku is. It's the final acknowledgement and fully giving up her hatred.) Omg this is so long, I'm sorry. I hope its enjoyable at least??? *hearts and hugs*
Lol whoops, I forgot to mention but MC also kinda slaps Suguru after kicking him in the face and it's that moment of being stunned that lets her grab him, it's good that the "real" Geto doesn't fight back because geez Kenjaku controlling him is way too strong, a long-distance fighter and a great martial artist. At least then it's easier to get him in a chokehold and try to rip off the stitches hiding that cowardly brain.
Tumblr media
Idk why but I think it’s cause I have no idea who your MC is that I am not really following lol. And I am not that great with canon material, but I am sure that Gege has mentioned that there isn’t much of Suguru left in his body. Cause even though his technique and his heart and all is there, I think the brain (or Kenjaku)’s power is to not only take over the host, but also shape themselves around the core of the host’s spirit. So in general it’s kinda like Mahito?
But I guess I enjoyed it? Idk it’s a lot, I can’t process much of it because I think I am too in the dark of your MC, but I also enjoy the entire thing? Idk, I am a mess of how I should feel cause I can barely process the entire Shibuya Arch lol.
Also does that mean that the Gojo clan does not have a head anymore? How is that going to work? Or are they going to take her in as the new head? Wouldn’t the world’s axis shift too cause because she isn’t the original owner of the Six Eyes. She doesn’t know how to use his Technique - I am assuming she is a no name before she took his eyes. Doesn’t that mean that open up an entire new Arch in your timeline as it is?
Honestly, now that I look over it again, there is so much going on that I am surprised that there are people out there with such rainbow brains to be able to think of something as insane as this. There is so much detail that it kinda blows my mind lol.
But I love that you shared so much cool ideas with me, anon! if you ever write this, do tag me so that i can read. or tag me in your entire MC timeline - I would love to explore this even more!
Chapter 283 - Snippet
I translated my favorite passage of chapter 283 in 2Ha that turned Meimeng into my OTP. Mei Hanxue gege loves Xue Meng and it’s non-negotiable.
Amidst those shining swords, Xue Zhengyong held on to the pain of his still-open wound, growling softly, “Stop it, everyone stop fighting!”
The disciples of Sisheng Peak heeded his words, but the Upper Cultivation World’s army never ceased. If this continued, the battle would never end. Xue Meng’s mind had already been shattered, blinded by the fog of confusion and hatred, this fragmentation had reached his eyes, reddening the ends, Longcheng in one hand, blindly slashing at his enemies, and yet on the other hand his face was washed in tears, which came unbidden even as he tried to suppress them with all his might.
It was only in this moment that the Young Phoenix truly understood how Mo Ran felt during his childhood.
In that brothel, the wood-chopping axe in his hands to claim the lives of all who lived within, that was the culmination of extreme helplessness, a disgusting kind of feeling, the self-hatred overwhelming.
Nothing mattered anymore, only the flames that churned the heart, only able to be quenched by a shower of blood.
Suddenly, a blade crossed against his spiritual power, a glimmering blue light surrounding the hilt of that long sword, a very familiar sight--but in this moment Xue Meng could not remember where he had seen it before. He could only scream to that Taxue Palace disciple with that ugly face, “Get out of the way! Don’t try to stop me!”
“Stop fighting. If you keep going, you’re going to get in real trouble. Calm down a bit first.”
It was a familiar voice in his ear.
Who could it be?
Xue Meng could not think of the answer, and he did not want to think of the answer.
That unbearable pain and hatred had bent whatever was left of his righteous heart, the patience of one who did not mind pain could only last for so long, for once the line was crossed, even gods could turn to devils, even the divine would turn toward the demonic.
One repetition of the Buddha’s name, another of the Devil’s.
His eyes reddened, filled only with thoughts of revenge, of endless revenge. The moment he had stepped into Tianyin Pavilion, those flames had begun to simmer, and now they burst into their full destruction, covering the sky and the earth, and in a mere instant he had been completely consumed by his own flames.
“Scram!”
Longcheng clashed with that blue sword, but that disciple with the ugly face was not lacking in technique, trading blows with him, a pair of jade green irises looked straight at Xue Meng’s face, unyielding.
“If you don’t calm down, you’ll only cause Sisheng Peak more trouble.”
“Who the hell are you? Is it your job to control me?”
He swung his blade down even more brutally, and yet that blue sword only returned with gentle grace, slowly blocking his blows.
Those jade green eyes locked onto his dark eyes, that familiar gaze…
Who is it…
“Ziming, stop fighting.”
That voice was deep and comforting in his ears, not filled with so much emotion, but Xue Meng could still hear a ray of worry and pity within.
In his spinning head, Xue Meng could see a kind of bright light, something suddenly calming that destructive rage within him, leaving only his huffing chest still moving with exertion and overstimulation.
His face was streaked with blood, his hair in complete disarray, Xue Meng savagely looked at that ugly man. “You…”
But he did not have time to finish his sentence, and behind him came the sound of a large battle.
Xue Meng turned around, about to lift Longcheng to block the blow coming for him, but he was too late--his arm had already been slashed, the wound deep to his bone.
“Meng’er!”
Xue Zhengyong saw that his son had been wounded, stepping directly from the high steps to come to his aid.
More than ten of Tianyin Pavilion’s disciples, who were all personal disciples of Mu Yanli, turned their eyes to Xue Meng at once, coming straight for him.
Their power could only be compared to those of the Elders of Sisheng Peak, and they came for Xue Meng all at once, who was still nursing his wound, meant to strike killing blows and claim the life of this Young Phoenix.
“Meng’er, Meng’er!”
But he was too far, and Xue Zhengyong could not reach his son in time, especially with so many enemies surrounding him at this moment. Xue Zhengyong wanted nothing more than to protect his son, fighting through that battle with his already battered body, his blood soaking through to his robes.
Xue Meng bit his lip and gritted his teeth, swinging Longcheng again, kicking two of the Tianyin Pavilion enemies in the chest, but his arm was bleeding heavily, the blood falling in a shower, and his wrist trembled with the effort.
Suddenly, a bright red light appeared--
“Careful!”
In a brief flash, it was that man with the jade green eyes who had traded blows with him earlier, swinging that sword up to save Xue Meng from a killing blow.
The Tianyi Pavilion disciples squinted. “Kunlun Taxue Palace has a traitor in its midst? You want to join forces with Sisheng Peak?”
That man did not reply, his sword swinging as majestically as mist, turning around to look into Xue Meng’s pale face and fierce eyes, and said, “Go to uncle. Hurry.”
“I…” Xue Meng covered the wound on his arm with his hand, but it was a futile effort. The blood was still pouring, and the white of his bone could be seen through the gash.
He moved his lips helplessly as if to say something, but he could not bring himself to say it, turning his eyes instead to find his father.
{before the sun falls} au: jiang cheng is the demonic cultivator, jiang yanli is the sect master, and wei wuxian is yunmeng’s war strategist and in an alliance betrothal with Gusu’s Lan Wangji.
fanguuuhhhrl replied: I can imagine the angst of wwx getting nearing death
YASsssss. I like the way you think fam. Just imagine:
“Wei Ying!!!”
Lan Wangji’s cry was drowned out by the sea of death around him. Some hundred yards away, Yunmeng’s prized strategist crumbled in his brother’s arms. Jiang Cheng’s furious roar sent a ripple of demonic energy across the battlefield, scores of enemies annihilated instantly.
Lan Wangji hardly knew how he cut across three dozen men and ghouls blocking his path to his intended. He was covered in blood by the time he collapsed onto his knees beside him, grasping his hand. “Wei Ying!”
“Lan - Lan Zhan,” Wei Ying’s smile was crimson, but his face was rapidly draining of colour.
“You!” Lan Wangji yanked Jiang Cheng by the collar and forced the words from his lips through gritted teeth. “You said you had it under control! You said -”
Jiang Cheng’s eyes were red from equal parts demonic energy and tears, “I did! I - I thought I did. I don’t know! I don’t know how or why this happening -”
“Jiang Cheng - no, stop, this isn’t your fault.”
“Wei Ying - ”
“It’s okay, Lan Zhan, it’s really okay my good Lan er-gege.” Wei Ying lifted a hand to Lan Zhan’s cheek, brushing a droplet of tear that streaked down his grim-covered face. “At least this way, you won’t have to be married to me. I won’t be holding you back anymore. You’ll be free, Lan Zhan.”
Free? But Lan Zhan didn’t want to be free. He wanted Wei Ying alive and one day as his husband, arranged married or not. Is this what Wei Ying thought all along? That being betrothed to him was a burden to Lan Zhan? How could he think that? How could someone so clever be so outrageously stupid?
There were so many words bubbling in side him, but Lan Wangji could hardly breath through the pain that seemed to tear through him let alone speak.
“No - no -”
“Though, promise me something.” Wei Wuxian grasped onto his sleeve desperately, his eyes pleading and wild with panicked urgency. “ Please, I’ve never asked you for anything, just this once, promise me. Protect my shijie and Jiang Cheng. They’re my only family left. For the memory of me who was once your intended, protect them, please Hanguang-jun.” Wei Ying’s breathing became laboured. “Promise me you will -”
“You’re not going to die; I won’t let -”
“Lan Zhan, please, please promise me -”
“Wei Ying.” Lan Zhan took the dying young man from his brother, holding him tightly in his trembling arms, trying to staunch the blood that with each second soaked through more of his robes. “I - I promise.”
With a smile, Wei Ying closed his eyes.
TGCF Modern AU Part 4 - Found
Warnings this chapter for Qi Rong's curses and false implications of sexual activities.
Parts 1-2 here
Part 3 here
Part 5 here
There is a crash as the door is blasted inwards. Xie Lian pries open his eyes as Hong takes over his body.
Run, Gege. This is not someone I can beat right away. Your leg-
Xie Lian finds himself covered in the pieces of wall which have fallen away. The green-robed figure before him is none other than that of his cousin, Qi Rong. But… there is a green streak in his hair and a whip in his hand. An aura of green fire surrounds attacker and weapon, casting the cell into a sinister light. Qi “Wrong” squints at Xie Lian as if he doesn’t recognize him, and then Xie Lian realizes his own hair has a red streak again. The scimitar from before has appeared in his hand.
He can hear the wailing of sirens from beyond the hole blasted in the wall. Presumably this person -not his adoring younger cousin, he has to remind himself- has made similar holes in walls to arrive in the police station. He tests his injured leg hesitantly, wincing as he finds it hasn’t healed much from his nap.
I can’t run. He’s kinda blocking the door! Xie Lian reminds Hong. The demon sighs.
Gege, let me fight him. I’m the stronger of the two of us-
You are?! Then why do you need my help? Xie Lian folds his arms.
Qi Rong who is not Qi Rong stares at the matching red robes on Xie Lian and slowly smiles.
Gege, listen- I- I was placed under a curse! I don’t have time to explain right now, just get out of here!
“Hua Cheng, long time no see,” Qi Rong spits out.
“Green Bastard,” Hong grits out with Xie Lian’s mouth. He murmurs a side note to his host- Let me do the talking. Xie Lian inclines his head slightly, swirling the scimitar as if to test its weight in his hand.
But if you end up getting me injured again, I won’t be so forgiving! he warns Hong.
That injury was all your doing, for saving those worthless soldiers back there. It seems that being royalty has done nothing for their respect of you, Hong muses.
“I see you met the Fierce I was planning to eat,” Qi Rong sends his whip flying over towards Xie Lian’s scimitar. Instead, he catches the braided leather with his free hand. The green flames hiss and sink into his skin.
“GEGE!” Hong shouts, his own red flames surging over Xie Lian’s hand to protect him. “Be careful.” The green flames surge up again, burning Hong, but he stays firm and adds more power to his red flames. Even though Hong feels himself losing energy to the demon before him, he keeps up his protection.
Qi Rong sneers, moves away from the door to close in on the other. “I see you’re still clinging to my cousin like sticky candy. You sicken me; you are not worthy of being around him!” He flicks his whip, releasing Xie Lian’s hand before aiming for his head. Xie Lian dodges as best as he can with a sore leg before realizing he’s backed against the wall. “Get out! I’m not going to stop burning you until you leave him! I know you’ve been weakened, Hua Cheng you pathetic lily-livered spineless frog-licker who can’t stop sucking my cousin off even when you’re possessing him. So I just have to keep hitting you until you can’t hold onto him anymore, then we’ll see who devours who!”
“Wh- who’s Hua Cheng?” Xie Lian asks, twirling the scimitar like a baton in a desperate attempt to fend off the whip attacks. He blanches at the implications of sex, denying that with a shake of his head. Qi Rong stares at him like he’s just asked how many planets are in the solar system.
“Hua Cheng is that parasite of a demon possessing you at the moment. You sure he’s not fucking you as we speak?”
“No, of course he isn’t. He wouldn’t do something like that. Why do you call him Hua Cheng? Have you two met before?” Xie Lian asks, while the whip mark on his hand from earlier stings like salt rubbed into a wound.
“Of course!” Qi Rong laughs. “We lived in the Palace together, cousin, remember? And this peasant kept sneaking in to see you, poisoning your mind with ideas of saving the kingdom alongside him.”
“I’m sorry, the Palace?” Xie Lian asks. “Are you sure you’re not from one of those transmigration novels, where people from modern times go back in time and live in the past?”
Qi Rong stares at him blankly. Xie Lian can tangibly feel Hong’s “…………..” and sighs. “Forget it.”
“You misunderstand. This must be the opposite of a transmigration novel, because I’m the real deal from the past.”
Several armed guards finally break through the green smoke, coughing and wheezing, to aim guns at the burning green demon. “Freeze!” the interrogator from before shouts.
Qi Rong turns sharply. He flicks his whip, catching her by the neck. “And what if I don’t?”
She grins, reaching over to taze his body unconscious. “Then we’ll make you. You’ve destroyed a great deal of public property.”
Her assistants dash into the room, gasping at the hastily-slashed hole in the wall. “The suspect, he’s escaped!”
Xie Lian pants as he slows down in the park, limping over to the hideout under a gazebo he’d slept under earlier. It is night now and the beams of flashlights flicker around the scene. His things are being plundered by the punks from earlier. He steps out from the shadows, a sinister look crossing his face while an idea crosses his mind.
“Bold of you to go through my things after I died,” he booms, his red robes swishing magnificently as he sweeps up to the ringleader from before, pointing the scimitar under his chin and applying a bit of pressure to get him to look up.
“Holy shit, it’s that guy from before! That hobo we couldn’t beat up!”
The leader silences the alert one with a glare.
“Did you take proper care of everything like I asked? Nothing has been broken, ripped, or stolen?” Xie Lian asks. Hong adds to the dramatic effects by giving him an aura of red flames. The leader visibly gulps.
“Wha-wha-what ARE you?”
“He’s glowing!”
“Silence!” The gang’s leader growls. “Put everything back.”
There is a long pause as everyone stares mesmerized at the flames around Xie Lian. The leader impatiently claps twice to snap everyone out of it. “I said give him his stuff back!”
“Y-yes, boss.” Still staring at Xie Lian, they slowly collect the clothes, trinkets, and money. Xie Lian examines the pile, smirking softly in the firelight. “You have been spared this time. Should you ever steal from another homeless person again, this deceased one will find you and make sure you pay with your life.” His slight smile vanishes as he removes his scimitar casually, asking Hong in his head to “Make it disappear now?”
Sure thing, Gege. Hong answers, as the scimitar disappears into thin air. The punks openly gawk at Xie Lian.
“He’s a real ghost! RUUUUUUUUN!”
They don’t need telling twice as they race to be the farthest away from this avenging ghost from the past.
Xie Lian sighs. His light fades away, and the ancient clothing is replaced with his casual jeans and t-shirt. He picks up the flashlights forgotten in the gang’s panic, and one by one turns them off. He spreads out the spare clothes and lies down under them. “Tomorrow morning, I’m going to wake up early and look for a job. I need a place to stay that isn't… this.” He waves his hand, gesturing towards the bushes, flowers, and trees in the park. “I’m lucky enough to have a roof this time.”
What does Gege mean? You don’t like these flowers?
Was it his imagination, or did Hong seem sad about that?
“People aren’t supposed to live in the park. They’re supposed to live in a house or an apartment. But, circumstances change. You could lose your job with the theft of a scimitar,” Xie Lian muses. “Sometimes, people can’t pay the rent or afford a house. Or, they wander from place to place without a home, like me. So they sleep wherever they find shelter from the rain.”
Hong is quiet for a moment, taking this in. Why don’t you have a home? he finally asks.
“I grew up with my parents, in a house,” Xie Lian begins. “But I got tired of living in the same place. I wanted to see the world. They didn’t understand or care, so I had to figure out how to get there myself.”
What about those metal sedans? They move by magic.
Xie Lian scoffs softly. “Oh, cars? I don’t have one of those anymore. My parents probably got rid of it after I left.”
Hong is quiet for a bit.
You seem to have quite a bit of resentment towards your parents.
“They aren’t good people.”
Since Gege thinks so, this must be true.
Xie Lian rolls over, resting his cheek in his palm. “What about that green demon we faced today? Who was he?”
Hong sighs. He was an old enemy, Gege. His name… was ‘Green Goblin.’
“What was he mad about, exactly? That 'small fry’ in the alley?”
Yes. We Supreme demons can create less powerful demons to consume as food. Since I have been awakened and they have also been unsealed, naturally they’ll want to sate their appetites. Hence, that small fry was spawned.
“Was Green Goblin mad that you ate it?”
Yes and no. Obviously he had wanted to eat it himself, but since I’m weaker I’m also at risk of being eaten by others. He probably let me have it only because he planned to eat me himself.
“Can demons… eat people?”
“I will never leave the manor without your permission again, Mother,” Lin Shu sniffled as he promised Princess Jinyang. His fingers were still trembling from the beating his mother just gave him and the tear marks were still visible on his chubby red cheeks.
Princess Jinyang sighed, put down the long wooden stick, and helped her son up. “Xiao-Shu, you understand that you put yourself in grave danger, right?”
Lin Shu sniffled again before replying, “Yes, Mother. I should not have followed Father to the training ground without telling anyone.”
Princess Jinyang nodded and asked, “So you will never do it again?”
Lin Shu obediently nodded as he wiped away his snot. “I will never sneak off to the training ground ever again!”
Three months later, Princess Jinyang gave her son another beating for sneaking off to the training ground.
-
“I will never bully my little brothers!” Lin Shu shouted to his mother before running out of the manor to meet up with Xiao Jingyan, Yan Yujin, and Xiao Jingrui.
“Be careful!” Princess Jinyang’s voice echoed into Lin Shu’s ears, but he was already half a block away from his home. He saw Xiao Jingyan and the two little boys waiting for him at the end of the block and sped up to meet them.
“Jinyan!” Lin Shu waved to catch the prince’s attention.
“Xiao-Shu!” Xiao Jingyan waved back, and the two little ones shouted “Lin Shu-gege!” in unison, but Lin Shu only paid attention to Xiao Jingyan’s greeting.
Seeing Lin Shu’s reaction to their greeting, or the lack thereof, Yan Yujin whispered to Xiao Jingrui, “Hey, Jingrui, why do I feel like we’re the decoy?”
Xiao Jingrui looked at his friend in confusion. “What do you mean? Aren’t we going out to play in the forest with Jingyan-gege and Lin Shu-gege?”
“Well, yeah…” Yan Yujin slowly said, “But I feel like we’re not the real reason why we’re going out today, you know…”
Lin Shu eavesdropped on the kids’ conversation. Laughing mischievously, he leaned in towards Yan Yujin’s face and warned, “Yujin, don’t get too many ideas as a kid. It’s very dangerous.”
When Xiao Jingyan finally succeeded in pulling him back from scaring the kids, Yan Yujin already hid his face behind Xiao Jingrui’s head and was cowering in fear while keeping an eye on Lin Shu.
Three hours later, Lin Shu tied a screaming Yan Yujin to a tree with a rope and skipped away to find Xiao Jingyan, who was by the river washing the his saddle.
-
“I will never fight a battle without you,” Lin Shu told Xiao Jingyan.
Xiao Jingyan laughed under his breath. “Xiao-Shu, you know we will have to be separated some time, right?” Xiao Jingyan drove his spear into the heart of a soldier that charged at the the two.
“Why? We make the perfect team,” Lin Shu replied as he kicked a wounded enemy to the ground. “Your father may as well station us together.”
“Xiao-Shu, behind you!” Lin Shu ducked and Xiao Jingyan threw his spear into the torso of another enemy.
“See, you’ve got my back,” Lin Shu breathlessly commented.
Xiao Jingyan walked past Lin Shu to get his spear back from the fallen soldier. As he turned back to face the boy, he said, “We can talk about it after we're done here.”
Lin Shu laughed as he turned his back on the prince. “Why? The fun just started!” the young marshal shouted as he locked eyes with another charging soldier.
Xiao Jingyan turned around, leaned against Lin Shu’s back, and smirked. “Then let’s enjoy it before the Great Yu starts retreating!”
Lin Shu shouted to lift the spirits of the men in his Chiyu camp, and the soldiers and Xiao Jingyan immediately joined him. The enemy soldiers charged on and Lin Shu slashed at anyone who tried to harm him or Xiao Jingyan.
Three years later, Lin Shu laid down on the snow of Meiling after losing the battle that he fought without the seventh prince of the Great Liang.
-
“I will never go back to Jinling,” Mei Changsu told Lin Chen.
A chuckle escaped Lin Chen’s mouth. “Where did that come from, Mei Changsu? Who asked you?”
“I’m just saying,” Mei Changsu said and drank the last bit of the medicine Lin Chen brought him.
Lin Chen immediately walked up and took the empty bowl from his hands. “What will you do if you don’t go back to Jinling after everything’s over?”
“Of course I’ll be traveling with you and Feiliu!”
Lin Chen laughed. “You really think Xiao Jingyan will let you leave?”
Mei Changsu stood up and straightened his armor. “He has no choice. There is no place for Mei Changsu in Jinling anymore. Maybe this invasion from Great Yu is saving us from unnecessary lies.”
Lin Chen watched his friend’s sorrow look and sighed as he reminisced a certain prince telling him what excuses Mei Changsu would come up with to leave Jinling. That prince also begged Lin Chen to protect his own best friend, as if Lin Chen wasn’t going to already.
Seeing a rare sincerity on Lin Chen’s face, Mei Changsu joked, “That is, if I survive the war.”
Lin Chen held himself back from throwing the bowl at Mei Changsu, but his voice was still slightly louder when he exclaimed, “With my skills in medicine, it’s no doubt you’ll survive the war!”
“Okay!” Mei Changsu held up his hands in defense. “I was just saying. So what are the travel plans after everything’s over?”
Lin Chen reached into his sleeve and pulled out his white paper fan to fan himself. (Although it was winter at Meiling, Mei Changsu found that it was better to not tell his friend that he is being extra as hell.) “Well, we would have to first return to the Langya Hall so you can be fixed up. And then, we would depart in the summer and travel south so we can get to Southern Chu by the winter. On our way, it would depend on what Feiliu wants to do…”
Mei Changsu grabbed his spear and wiped the dried blood off of it as he obediently listened to Lin Chen go over his plans. He was uncertain if all would go according to plan. There were too many uncertainties, such as his mortality, but it reminded him of what he was fighting for as he listened to Lin Chen go on and on.
Although it did sound like something was missing in the travel plans.
Three weeks later, Mei Changsu slept soundly in the Su manor as Xiao Jingyan thanked Lin Chen for protecting him on their way back from Meiling, but Lin Chen simply waved away the Crowned Prince’s gratitudes and handed him a bottle of pills and a cage of pigeons.
“Send a pigeon if anything seems off with him, and I will come as soon as possible.”
“Thank you, Young Master Lin.”
“Stop thanking me; just don’t tell him I helped you bring him back here. Tell him you kidnapped him when I was transporting him back to Langya Hall.”
-
“I will never let you touch me again!” Mei Changsu shouted at a pouting Xiao Jingyan.
“But Xiao-Shu, I--”
“You what!” Mei Changsu shouted louder and looked away from the emperor.
“I didn’t mean to kiss you after eating hazelnut biscuits…” Xiao Jingyan quietly said.
Mei Changsu blushed at his mention of what happened that afternoon. “Enough!”
“Xiao-Shu, I will never eat hazelnut biscuits ever again!” Xiao Jingyan raised three fingers on his right hand and swore, “I swear to the heavens that if I so much as touch another hazelnut biscuit, I will get struck by lightning and--”
Mei Changsu turned back to face Xiao Jingyan as soon as he heard him swearing and slowly uttered, “You don’t have to say it like that…”
Seizing the opportunity, Xiao Jingyan quickly slid from his seat to behind Mei Changsu and wrapped his arms around the empress’s waist. “Xiao-Shu,” he said with his face buried in Mei Changsu’s shoulder, “I knew you would forgive me.”
“Xiao Jingyan, don’t get all over me.” Mei Changsu shifted himself and tried to push Xiao Jingyan away, but the emperor only wrapped around him tighter.
“But Xiao-Shu…” Xiao Jingyan dragged out his empress’s name and Mei Changsu melted in his arms.
“What do you want?” Mei Changsu turned his head to face Xiao Jingyan and the emperor’s hair brushed against his nose.
Xiao Jingyan raised his head and looked Mei Changsu in the eye. “Xiao-Shu, you must feel uncomfortable with all the red spots on your body, right?”
“Yes… But Auntie Jing said it will be fine after I drink another dose of the detoxification medicine…” Mei Changsu hesitantly answered as he studied Xiao Jingyan’s sincere look.
“Xiao-Shu!” Xiao Jingyan’s eyes were practically sparkling as he said it, “There’s still some of the soothing ointment Mother gave me for the spring hunt, let me help you apply some to your red spots!”
Mei Changsu remembered what happened at the spring hunt when his emperor offered to apply ointment on the mosquito bites for him, and he blushed again. He started pushing Xiao Jingyan away from himself again, exclaiming, “Xiao Jingyan! Let go of me! You always take advantage of me!”
“How can you say that, Xiao-Shu! I’m trying to help you!” Xiao Jingyan sincerely said, but he already lifted Mei Changsu up and was walking to their bed.
When Mei Changsu was placed on the bed, he heard Xiao Jingyan fumble around some drawers before returning to him.
“Xiao Jingyan, if you lay a finger on me, I’ll tell Auntie Jing!” Mei Changsu held a finger up to warn Xiao Jingyan while the emperor found himself a comfortable place to sit on his empress’s lap.
He poured a little bit of the ointment onto his fingertip and rubbed it on a red spot on Mei Changsu’s right cheek. Mei Changsu followed his finger tentatively, but he had to admit that the ointment brought a coolness to his skin that soothed the burning sensation he had been feeling all afternoon.
Reluctantly, Mei Changsu said, “Fine, you can help me apply the ointment.”
A satisfied smile spread across Xiao Jingyan’s face as he started undressing Mei Changsu, and the empress prayed that he would not regret his decision that night.
Three days later, Empress Mei showed up at Empress Dowager Jing’s Ziluo Palace with the Liang Emperor by his side again.
“Auntie Jing, I'm having another allergic reaction…” Mei Changsu muttered.
Hearing Mei Changsu’s coarse voice, Lin Jing glared at her son before inviting the two into her palace.
-
Bonus:
Lin Jing said that she would never make hazelnut biscuits ever again.
Three hours later, she stood in the kitchen baking a big batch of hazelnut biscuits. For Feiliu only.
