returning to my little project of making a fake neopet out of my fursona for the Third time, because I keep changing their design before I can finish it.

on the second attempt, I decided to stop being lazy and actually make larger vectors instead of drawing directly on a 150x150 canvas - which, surprise, is a hell of a lot easier. this time around, I'm also using the flash colour palette to make everything a bit more authentic. and I made one of those pet info pages you could see by going to the species list.

I've almost completed the basic recolour/minor lineart adjustment paintbrush colours. gonna post a bigger collection of them later when they're all finished, then move on to the unique poses, but these are my favourites so far. I was actually keeping so rigid to the official styles for a few of them (proportions & anatomy, consistent colours & shading, etc.), before straying away enough from desert to realise, wait, I can just have fun w/ it lol.

At first Ace regretted having usopp eat luffys devil fruit because he thought that usopp went insane after eating the devil fruit (like the whole seeing luffy made usopp think he was hallucinating and took him a while to get use to)

Ace felt super guilty thinking that he broke usopps brain by making him eat a devil fruit.

At first Usopp doesn't say anything because 'devil fruit's haunted and it's the baby brother you killed' is the kind of thing you have to be Absolutely Sure Of before you say it

But it's pretty obvious, and what's Usopp gonna do? Not Be Haunted? Pretend he's upset abt his ghost bf? Do you know all the stories he's abt to make up abt his ghost bf for his letters to Kaya?

Chopper eventually steps in a bit because Healthcare professionals are homophobic abt ghost bfs and call it "Schizophrenia" but even tho 19 is the perfect time for that Usopp doesn't show any symptoms except Luffy hallucinations and Chopper figures out it's probably the df because he Also has a df that changed his personality (gave him one to begin with He Was A Deer) and so devilfruits do have some kind of soul - maybe that soul is the previous user, maybe that soul is rolled up pieces of all the people before them, maybe Luffy just ate his devilfruit as a child and the devil fruit's soul completely overtook his to the point Usopp is recognizing the devilfruit as Luffy because Luffy was barely a person, who knows?

The crew does not tell Ace that there's a chance Luffy was a devilfruit zombie but they do tell him the hallucinations are harmless and Usopp says it's the best-case scenario and starts lying his ass of abt what ghosts can do and Ace believes him
