Did you buy Baldurs Gate 3 with no idea how D&D works and then decide to watch the entirety of Critical Role and get attached to this amazing group of friends telling stories while also learning the mechanics of the game thus making your BG3 playing experience much better? Or are you neurotypical?

currently reading: A Far Wilder Magic by Allison Saft. Was wary but hopeful going into this because I have little to no luck with any books labeled as "romantasy." I'm about halfway through and thoroughly relieved to be enjoying it a lot! Solid worldbuilding in fantasy world just left of irl early 1900s, great characters, and an interesting magic system. Tbh WAY more than I was expecting going into it and I've got another of her books lined up to read after

currently watching: numerous things, but mostly making my way back through c2. with a couple of friends, we're currently watching 911 Lone Star (for the second time, for one of my friends who didn't catch all the episodes), and with another friend we're rewatching Charmed, which I haven't seen since I was like. ten. Watching it back has been a wild ride, let me tell you.

(We are also watching reality tv show Farmer Wants A Wife--the American version--and we put it on initially as a joke, but it was surprisingly good? Honestly the least offensive piece of reality television media I've ever seen? It was a pleasant surprise and we're watching it week to week now after CR on Thursdays)

currently obsessed with: I was given a very pretty, very satisfying mechanical keyboard as condolence gift for the sudden and untimely death of my beloved laptop (may her memory be a blessing), and honestly it's pretty fantastic. I think I'm writing more now just for the joy of clicking the keys.

Also rather obsessed with the aggressive horse girl energy that is happening on the top of my desk rn (they were Christmas gifts. My mom and I visited a bona fide toy shop in early December and she saw me experience ~whimsy~ at seeing the Breyer holiday collection so now they, and also that clear unicorn ornament, have a permanent place on the top of my desk)

does anyone have tips for how to deal with the phenomenon of 'autistic need to sort and hypercategorize things, except that there are multiple different axes by which to sort them and you can't use them all at the same time, and the result is overwhelm and distress?'

i've learned that tagging systems help, at least, but sometimes they uh. sometimes they can only go so far

#whosebaby talks #whosebaby makes things #whosebaby does game dev #ttrpg tag #i first wrote up that nightmare of tags when i only had three or four hacks in progress lmfao #looking at it now there are some i think i could narrow down a bit but it still makes me itchy #and with how much bleed and overlap there tends to be with different hacks and systems #it can be really inconvenient and disruptive to separate them completely for ones that have multiple drafts and test run docs #the tagging system i use on here is pretty damn loose by my usual standards but keeping track of game dev in the way i do it #kind of needs a lot more careful distinction and along multiple axes #the alternative is pretty much just one big soup which works *okay* but can still be overwhelming and a hassle to keep up with #anyway this is not remotely the only thing this applies to and Suffering Squirtle especially when urge to sort physical objects #and it's also annoying when it's something harder to quantify like #'i'm genuinely really having fun with this test scene/campaign and want to continue it' vs 'ehn. don't mind not picking this one back up'#sighs #also yeah i have. i have a lot of balls in the air here lmao #this doesn't include the i think like 5-10 docs i made on gdrive before i switched to the notes app because the formatting sucked to use #and the above folders also don't include things like the divination stuff i've made #me with nerve damage that makes handling physical tarot cards painful; making a dice table instead: try and stop me asshole #is there a name for that tag

ngl i wasn't really vibing with the way the whole "let's convince sedóhart to spare nájtszong" thing played out, it gave me the vibe that it was written around the game mechanics rather than written as an important character story moment supported by the game mechanics if that makes sense

oh i also talked a lot about fire emblem today. specifically whether i was planning to buy Engage or not. verdict is: Probably, considering reviews say the tactics gameplay is really rich & that's like 80% of why i enjoy playing fire emblem. so yes i am not a fan of the character designs. but i will probably buy it. at some point.

i went to gamestop after work to see if i could find it but didnt see it and INSTEAD i saw 2 games for relatively cheap. so i got those instead.

#speculation nation #it's uhhh horizon zero dawn. which ive heard good things about. and tales of arise. which ive known i'd b getting eventually #considering how ive enjoyed every tales of games. & xillia 2 Still is the only game that's made me cry like a baby Twice #reviews seem pretty positive for tales of arise too so tbh more likely i'll play that first.#character designs of party members seem pretty solid too #i also got two sets of dice for a total of $4 so like that's pretty rad. im up to 82 sets now. Woo #i. need to go to sleep lskdjflskdjf #but ya me chatting with my coworkers who dont know fire emblem about different games #mentioning that my fav is still fe echoes bc it is superior in character design. story. map tactics. and ESPECIALLY the music.#but also i'll enjoy a slightly trashy fire emblem game which i KNOW bc i loved fates. genuinely.#it gets a lot of hate & god Knows i can complain about its faults endlessly #but i have a lot of fun with it and i love a lot of characters. More evidence for "might be kindasorta on the autism spectrum": I am actually really enjoying the colorful dice I got in the mail. Arranging them by color. Stacking them. Being very intentional about which number is facing up on which die. Yeah.
