Show negative thoughts don't like don't read:
GRRM makes the choice not to show us book Theon's POV before Bran and Rickon's escape, only through Bran's eyes. Thats a cool literary device and so heartbreaking, we are left to wonder oh Theon did it feel good at least while it was happening did you have time to feel any joy and vindication before it all went bad?
This left so much room for D&D to play with a contrast of before and after, lots of room for creative portrayal of this downfall arc, but they... Didn't really? Like obviously there was a downfall in a certain sense but Theon is absolutely in Theon VI mode from the very beginning. We have a scene of him bungling an execution and publicly breaking down, it's moved to before the escape. We have a scene of him being confronted by Ser Rodrik on his hostage/loyalty issues and just plainly admitting how traumatized he is because he's just that broken down and raw etc. And thats also moved before the escape. These are his first actions in Winterfell, in fact. I know time costraints etc but just... How the fuck do you read the Beth parley scene and not find it something so cinematic you absolutely must render, what's wrong with you, couldn't they just merge Beth and Jeyne if that was the issue?
We just get Theon being so sensitive and embarrassing and publicly spiraling from the start and everything that happens is a natural consequence of his own specific brand of patheticness present there from the start, downfall arc routed in the inherent impossibility of ruling mercifully in a conquest situation and cruelty of war etc what is that. Just as with Ramsay we'll helpfully be treated to many good reasons about how the Reek treatment Is tailored on Theon's specific oh so pathetic and sensitive individuality, alienating results of torture and Ramsay are an escapable force of evil what are those.

one of the things that pisses me off the most about the atla reboot is
that they're COMPLETELY missing the point of zuko. zuko HAS to be the villain at first, has to be framed as merciless and cruel and evil and the epitome of the fire nation's greedy conquest of the world, so that it's SIGNIFICANT when you learn he's just a kid who wants to go home. just a kid who wants his dad to love him and has convinced himself that if he's good enough, he can earn that love. the point of zuko is to show the audience that the people we see as our enemies are human too. also, the point of zuko is that sometimes our anger and desperation get in our way and make us forget what's really important to us.
the netflix live action reboot is completely fucking this up. they're bringing in zuko's backstory WAY too early, throwing lines around about how his father banished him and he just wants to go home and see his family again. we're not supposed to know that about zuko yet. we're not supposed to know that his dad doesn't want him back or that his sister disdains him. moreover, ZUKO isn't supposed to acknowledge yet that what he wants most is his family's love - s1 zuko suppresses that shit hard. s1 zuko is all about restoring his honor, earning glory, winning his claim to the throne back. the reboot isn't giving him enough room to grow and change, and isn't giving the audience any room to change their view of him.
but that's just one of the things I hate about the reboot, there are many

"But Rhaenyra was princess of Dragonstone, of course she lived there for years away from the court."
YES, THAT IS THE PROBLEM. DRAGONSTONE IS THE PROBLEM.
Having the seat of Dragonstone be for your heir to the Iron Throne is a terrible idea. It is a distant and very isolating castle on a small island that effectively cuts off its residents from the rest of the world to the point they don't feel attached to the country they intend to rule, and the people do not feel attached to their will be ruler.
Maintaining their original island seat by sending the heir to the Iron Throne there is a bad idea. We saw it with Stannis. He was isolated on Dragonstone for so long that when war was inevitable, Renly was able to charm most of the Stormlands bannermen into his army, when rightfully they should've recognized Stannis. But they didn't. Because Renly was always present in the Stormlands and in Kings Landing, and Stannis was not.
Yes Rhaenyra was just living on an island she had the rights to as the heir, but thats the problem. The heir should not be isolated on a small and inconsequential island for much of their adult life before inheriting the throne. That tradition of the heir being the Prince or Princess of Dragonstone is the problem in the first place. The heir should be required to live in Kings Landing, and attend court as much as possible.
Not live squared away alone and isolated where they will forget the world and the world will forget them.

still baffled that one popular anti-dany argument pre s8 was that since she was wearing black she leaning toward the Dark Side™...... as if in the same series another unambigously heroic protagonist didn't enlist into the night's guard where everyone must wear black, and the series' author wasn't explicitly against this kind of stereotypical tropes lmao

I think I might need to get out of fandom and go back to enjoying the books in my bubble.
I just saw the worst take (among many I have seen) and people applauding the person and saying they wish that would happen.
People desperately want these books to be something they're not and I'll never understand it.
There's plenty of books that fit what people describe they want to happen or their crazy theories but for some reason they want it to be. this. book. series.
When that's just not the way SJM writes/plots.
Not everything has to be a GRRM level shock or "twist".
(and no, this wasn't about shipping)

I just saw the leaks, and really a waste of Stark. I am very happy for everything we are going to achieve with the Greens. But yes, Cregan and Jace's friendship is something very important that should not be discarded, their pact of ice and fire. Jace in the north was crucial to his development so that the public could get to know the character better and his death would be felt. I have to agree with you, black people this season are going to be really boring. And what will Jace do this season?
So, from what I understand, Jace is in Winterfell already in episode 1 and they journey to the Wall. He manages to make it back at the end of episode 1 after news is brought about Luke's death. And then he is in episode 3 when Cargyllbowl happens. It is said that Rhaenyra sinks into grief after finding what's left of Luke (really HOTD, Vhagar ate him in one bite, only Arrax's wings are left), so Jace takes over ruling Dragonstone for her as her regent. But then there's a huge gap between that and when the Dragonseeds start in episode 7. Perhaps Jace will be relegated to the background and just pop in and out, but judging by these reviews it sounds like he plays a large role and it's been pointed out several times that the Gullet is going to be foreshadowed in this season. Otto is going to hire the Triarchy but we don't know when since episodes 5-8 are locked up tight. There's that rumored Rhaenyra and Alicent meeting but we don't know when that is going to be and the dragonseeds and that's about it. My delusional self is telling me that because Jace and Cregan get interrupted at the Wall, he's going to go back. Especially if Rhaenyra tells him about the prophecy, because then he'd want to know if it was true and then start making arrangements to send the kids out of Westeros, which sets up his own death.
But seriously, I really hope this isn't it. I am expecting some good politicking from Jace since he talks Corlys into staying and starts the Dragonseeds, but that is not going to take a lot of time. Especially since Baela and Rhaenyra are a part of the Seeds as well. So Idk. I have a feeling I will be very unsatisfied there.
And also, if this is it for Cregan, if he just quickly says "I'll send troops south when the time is right," and then doesn't come back until season 4, the audience is gonna be clueless on who he is. It also sounds like Aly Blackwood has been cut so...idk. I think this story is gonna flop big time.

“No OfFeNsE tO aDuLt BlUeY fAnS bUt ThAt Is A cHiLdReN'S sHoW. fOr PrEsChOoLeRs” ok and? Why do you think it’s so popular? Bitch there’s a reason why shows like Sesame Street have been on for decades, it’s because the show appeals to EVERYONE
Bluey is a happy baby who loves apple juice and cupcakes. She’s not your enemy. The fact that the OP of the post is actively propagating cringe culture and hating on other autistics is so…cringe. You’re an autistic who only likes “grownup” shows? Ok do you want a fucking trophy? Can we not shame other autistics for their harmless interests? (Before you ask, yes I do have mature™️ interests such as breaking bad. and I do want autistics to try new stuff and reach out of their comfort zones)
Anyways, if you harass ANYONE for liking Bluey or ANY other children’s show, I’ll sail across the ocean and shove an umbrella up your ass and open it. (Please check the tags. Also see this post I made)

Criticisms of Sansa as/being a static character or experiencing no character growth/development makes 0 sense to me.
Is her development more subtle? Yes. But it's there.
Does she have less development than other characters? Also yes. But not because she's less important or purposefully trying to remain the same.
She's physically trapped in a hostage situation. She is also mentally/emotionally trapped. She's walking on eggshells in a hostile court where she can't trust anyone. She doesn't have the opportunity to effectively grow and develop emotionally and mentally as a young girl should.
Arya is forced into the wider world to survive. She travels and meets people, and her narrative focuses a lot on her learning about the world. There is a stark difference in that Arya has an open world to explore, full of novelties and mentor figures, whilst Sansa is constantly confined and tied down to a particular place (whether it be the Red Keep, the Eyrie etc.).
I have a lot of thoughts on GRRM but he doesn't disappoint when it comes to building main characters with realistic portrayals of human nature, trauma etc. Sansa's static nature and gradual change is realistic, metaphorical/symbolic (mentally trapped, lost autonomy, stuck in time etc.) and adds a different pacing to a character arc.

DJenkins saying he wanted to end the season on an upbeat note and not fall back on ‘bury your gays’ is WILD. There’s literally a gay man buried in Ed and Stede’s yard, David. Did you forget about that one? Just like you forgot to actually let Ed and Stede get any kind of meaningful development that would make their happy ending feel remotely earned or satisfying?

One of my best friends is from Mexico and she also HATES the Latinx term with more vitriol than I've ever seen from her- even more than she hated the Game of Thrones finale. She sees that, and she flips her lid.
OMG YES you have unlocked Vexic's Latinx Rant congrats lol but seriously like
okay so I didn't hate it AT FIRST right cause I was like oh good, that's a decent placeholder until a better term can be agreed upon even though I personally used Latin@ at the time cause I thought it looked better and got the point across (I pronounced it as Latinao which I still think sound cool honestly)
but THEN Latine came about and I was like GREAT now we have one that's pronounceable and makes sense EXCEPT white Americans as white Americans are wont to do just...didn't listen to Spanish speakers I don't know WHY because Latinx is I guess pronounceable in English but it's absolutely NOT in Spanish which is the language it's supposed to be for I don't GET IT
I think my biggest problem with Latinx is that it comes across as entirely performative rather than actually supporting Latine nonbinary people, it's like "look at me I'm being inclusive in Spanish too" but you're NOT you annoying gringe- estoy cansade lol
