I'm not a person of color. Can I attend? This event is professional game devs or anyone wishing to be professional game dev! This includes artists, composers, writers, programmers, etc. who make things for games! This event includes and centers developers of color and their work, but anyone is welcome to attend!

Is this game virtual or in-person? The event is virtual first with all talks, panels, interviews as well as networking events, live chat, job boards, etc. being available virtually through Swapcard and Gather. However, there are in-person watch parties in WA, LA & NYC where folks can meet others and watch these talks together as well as enjoy light refreshments and potential raffles.

Do I need to be in the games industry to attend? No! We welcome people from outside the industry. Whether you're a fan of games or just curious, you'll have a blast at our event.

What if I can't make it for the live event or am only available part of the time? Even if you can't attend in-person or only have limited availability for the run of the event, your ticket will give you full access to the entire virtual event. This means every talk, panel, interview, etc. can be watched back later at your leisure, including live chat replay so feel free to pop in for what you're available for! The only parts that will be live only are the community connections meetups and dev/speaker mixer hosted virtually on Gather. See the full schedule here!

Devlog #18: Antici and Pation

Hello everyone! Welcome to this month’s devlog!

If you just stumbled upon this, I am Adrienne, also known as insertdisc5! I’m the developer, writer, artist, main programmer, etc of the game. The game being In Stars and Time, a timeloop RPG, which is also the next and final game in the START AGAIN series, following START AGAIN: a prologue (available here!).  You can find out more about In Stars and Time here!!! 

LET’S GET TO IT. This month is a little update on where things are! It’s very short.

We are. Preparing things. Like for example: along with Steam and itch.io, ISAT will also be on GOG for all your DRM needs!!! There will be no difference between those three, except Steam will have achievements. I am trying really hard to put achievements on GOG as well but do not count on it and get it on Steam if you want those sweet sweet achievos.

We are also doing some small fixes to the console versions to make sure it is perfect! I am also also fixing some illustrations to erase some little lines and fix some little things that always bothered me and only me. 

Look at this. Can you tell the difference between those two pictures? WELL I CAN AND NOW IT’S SO MUCH BETTER OK.

Our talk is called "Why Save the Villainess? Challenging Injustice through Perspective."

Summary: "Save the Villainess is a romantic mystery visual novel (VN) that centers on a neurodiverse woman of color (WOC) named Jane who falls into a historical romance novel… only to become its hated villainess. While the game begins as a mystery focusing on who wants to kill the villainess, it develops into a meditation on betrayal, forgiveness, identity and free-will – one that examines how a WOC can survive an unjust society that condemns her. By questioning the concept of a villainess and using satire to deconstruct related injustices, Save the Villainess reflects on the inequities of a sexist, racist, and classist society – and shows how the inequities of the past resonate today."
