The list displays a remarkable inventiveness, as people struggle to find fresh forms of expression.

The language of death is inevitably euphemistic, but few of the verbs or idioms shown here are elaborate or opaque.

In fact the history of verbs for dying displays a remarkable simplicity: 86 of the 121 entries (over 70%) consist of only one syllable, and monosyllables figure largely in the multi-word entries (such as pay one’s debt to nature).

Only 16 verbs are disyllabic, and only 3 are trisyllabic (determine, disperish, miscarry), loanwords from French, and along with expire, trespass, and decease showing the arrival of a more scholarly vocabulary in the 14th and 15th centuries.

Even the euphemisms of later centuries have a markedly monosyllabic character.

Some constructions evidently have permanent appeal because of their succinct and enigmatic character, such as the popularity of ‘____ it’ (whatever the ‘it’ is): snuff it, peg it, buy it, cop it, off it, crease it, have had it.

It’s possible to see changes in fashion, such as the vogue for colloquial usages in "off" in the middle of the 18th century (move off, pop off, pack off, hop off ).

And styles change: we no longer feel that "pass out" would be appropriate on a tombstone. But some things don’t change. Pass away has been with us since the 14th century. And, in a usage that dates back to the 12th, we still do say that people, simply, died.

I'm back on the road. Apparently, I was missing in Tumblr, but I've had some reasons why I was inactive in the website until I came back, like... Mostly busy with other stuff and other artworks I wanted to finish, as well as with issues I have gained like, when my own Dell Optiplex ran into issues and had to be formatted as a result. Later, I've got a new PC tower case, but my father will actually try to focus on repairing the old one, as I can't risk of losing the old one which I've liked.

But as I'm enough with the talk, I've finished working on my own art of an EG6 Civic, but instead, as a Super Taikyu racer from the 90s, carrying the Portuguese sponsors and especially using the Galp colors, combined with the Advan livery. I also gave it the Advan GT rims for it.

Petrobras Eyes 40% Ownership in Namibia's Mopane Oil Block

Petrobras PBR, a Brazil-based integrated energy company controlled by the government of Brazil, has its eyes set on acquiring the entire 40% stake in the Mopane oil and gas exploration block in Namibia, currently owned by Portugal’s Galp Energia, SGPS, S.A. GLPEY. This strategic move aligns with PBR’s expansion plans and its focus on establishing a stronger presence in international oil and gas markets, particularly in Africa.

You most certainly may! ^^

And quite frankly, I have no strong opinions on Finnessa. As in I do think that even in canon their friendship is amazing, and they make me think of galp pals. Besties on a mission. And they definitely have great energy together, but to me their relationship, no matter how adorable, is platonic.

That doesn't mean that I wouldn't get where the romantic Finnessa comes from, because there is a good foundation for a very open and heartfelt relationship where they will support each other through thick and thin. And I do think that they understand each other quite well (though I think Vanessa understand Finral better than I think Finral understand Vanessa; but this is only by a margin).

They both come from families where there is an element of being caged. They both have abusive and manipulative parents, and they both thought very little of each other. Both of their magics could be used to do a lot of evil, if they had chosen another path in life, but neither want to hurt others. And while that isn't the original cause for Vanessa to be quite literally caged, that is one of the reasons why Finral was shunned by his parents.

But I think all of these similarities in their stories can be important no matter the route; whether it's platonic or romantic. (Essentially I'm trying to say that: if you are unsure about shipping them romantically, you don't necessarily need to make a decision in order place them into a lot of situations, because their relationship can work in platonic ones as well. So, if a fic was tagged as both Finral/Vanessa and Finral&Vanessa, it would make sense to me)

I think they're cute no matter the route.

But as said, I don't have strong opinions for or against a romantic ship. To me they're platonic, but that's just me and I don't mind seeing them as a romantic ship

Since 2025 has begun, let's hope this might be a good year for all of you. However, I seem to still have a problem with fireworks which are mostly used for New Year's Eve, but don't judge my opinion for that.

Here's good wishes for the year.

With the 2025 Dakar Rally is rising, here are 4 of my favorite Dakar vehicles I had to post.

Those are:

-Peugeot 405 Turbo 16 (Rally Raid)

-UMM 4X4 (A Portuguese jeep)

-Seat Cordoba TDI Dakar

-Mitsubishi Strakar/L200 (Mitsubishi Galp TMN Chesterfield Team).

Other things for the year, such as the upcoming 2025 release of the new Shutokou Battle/Tokyo Xtreme Racer, which looks really worth it for the wait. And some anniversaries such as the Moomins' own 80th anniversary.

And last but not least, upcoming arts I'm doing, especially fan-arts! Here's looking foward to other artworks for this year!
