Spotting Gail on a stool near the on duty tender was far from a surprise, but he took the seat next to her regardless. Favorite character: It's Coach, it always was Coach. He’s not the best and he’s definitely not everyone’s fav but I just think he’s neat ok :( 

Least Favorite character: Anik for sure. I have a lot of thoughts about the show’s decisions involving her character. I don’t think there should’ve been a reason to bring her back after what she did, but I guess they needed to bring back the BroDude model subplot somehow  :(

Character I find most attractive & Character I would marry: I think it’d be funny if I just let random people decide these answers because honestly - I do not know. 

Character I would be best friends with: Daryl 100%,  

A random thought: Dierks is the type of guy to wear those very specific skate shirts with that cat in the pocket flipping you off, you know the one,,,

An unpopular opinion: and the award for most mediocre, not even remotely creative unpopular opinion goes to me! - 

The act of Cheating being used as this kind of “Epic Season finale, tune in next season to find out what happens next!” cliff hanger, feels tacky and contrived and overdone in so many ways. It just adds high stakes to a show that never really needed high stakes to begin with - it’s a show about a small rural town and the folks who live in it, it’s as deep as that. This ain’t Euphoria High.  

That’s why the end of Season 10 felt so nice where we didn’t have to see any drama, just everything tied up in a wholesome bow with a group of friends palling around.

Pairing I am not a fan of: Neither Stewart & Katy or Wayne & MF worked for me, one was uncomfortable whilst the other felt more contrived as it dragged on.

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): I felt like it was Coach for the longest time and I still kind of do (flanderisation and flip flopping with traits) - Coach is really at his best when the writing team have fun with him.

Six Sentence Sunday No. 001 [From Little Red (Bits and Bites)]

So this first set of six sentences -whch are very, very long- are from a prompt, all because I really wanted to write a Little Red Ridinghood Story and after reading some of Gail Carson Levine’s Writing Magic, found this prompt and really felt that I just had to do it.

For now, however, please enjoy a taste of “Little Red (Bits and Bites)”.

The first bite was pure pain. Rowan’s left leg cracked into shards, and she screamed, smashing her hands up against the beasts’ throat as she wailed, tears rolling down her cheeks. She pressed into the rigid tissue of his hard palette, felt his throat work her down and felt her ribs pinch as he tried to strangle the breath from her to have a silent snack, and she slammed her hands up again, slapping against a wall of teeth. They scrapped her palms like knives, leaving them raw and bleeding as she was forced down.

A garbled bay boomed from his lungs and the beast opened his teeth, tongue curling up around Rowan to taste the fresh blood. Without thinking, Rowan dragged her hands down, tucked herself up as best she could, and felt him swallow, felt his happiness around her like a living blanket, heard him gargle up a laugh.

The Death-Defying Devil #001

The Death-Defying Devil #001 Dynamite Entertainment 2019 Written by Gail Simone Illustrated by Walter Geovani Coloured by Adriano Augusto Lettered by Simon Bowland     The Winslow House is in shambles, but people call it home. It is a place for people who have almost nothing but are trying to make a life for themselves. It is also in a bad neighbourhood, and no one will stop criminals from tormenting the residents…until The Death-Defying ‘Devil shows up! But when the ‘Devil tries to step in and protect the innocent, things take a turn for the worse and he finds himself trapped inside the house, being taken care of by the same people he was trying to save.     These are some of my favourite books from Dynamite, the Project Superpowers team. I love the Golden Age heroes and what they represent so to seem them utilised and brought back to life with care and sense is something they've been doing extremely well. I am still waiting to see another Miss Fury arc and I would love a Madam Masque one too but for now the Death-Defying Devil takes centre stage. I am pretty sure there is no time-line or continuity for the books which is just fine by me it just means that the story arcs get to be told and we can sit back and simply enjoy them.     I like the way that this is structured. The opening is interesting and we meet Dave who for some unknown reason doesn't have half his moustache. He's a talker this one and it does pique the curiosity about how things got to where they are that's for sure. Gail is wonderful at this though, she brings us a scenario we have no idea what's going on but she makes it compelling to the reader and establishes this amazing characterisation right off the bat. The way that this is structured is extremely nice to see as the pacing is good and strong as it carries the story & plot development and the character development moving forward.     Having never read any of his original Daredevil stories I can't speak of what he was like but I am currently enjoying the characterisation we are seeing from Gail. If what I remember is correct the suit itself is sentient so there wouldn't be a whole lot of reasons for it to talk. So how do you overcome that you might be wondering, well the answer is easy you use those around him and in this case it is the various residents of The Winslow House. Of which I get the feeling that the house itself is it's own character so what is coming is going to be something beyond fascinating.     Walter's work on the interiors here is really rather delightful to see. The linework is strong and utilised well to bring out some of the attention to detail that we like seeing. There are moments lie seeing how a thug's hair grows which is the kind of attention to detail we don't see and I appreciate that level of detail. That we see backgrounds being utilised as much as we do is sensational and really enhance the moments and bring a solid sense of size and scope to the story. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a nice eye for storytelling. The colour work is pretty well done also. Colour blocking instead of gradation it utilised well and the light sources creating the shading and shadows are well adhered to.     Gail throws some very modern day characterisation into this issue. The villain's words and those of the cop are hateful and hurtful and a sad reminder of other's current feelings. I am not a fan of that as it's ugly but it is the world we live in today, and that's ugly too. So that Gail doesn't shirk that or shy away from it is admirable and then to see the residents of the building reaching out and helping the Devil as well as each other shows the hope in contrast to the ugly. ​     I love Gail, I love how she writes and the way she keeps stories alive and with this artistic team they've got a darn good start on character I cannot wait to see more of.

001. Describe your childhood and your relationship with your family. “I grew up in Pageson – you’ve probably never heard of it, it’s not even on most maps. Really small town. Tight-knit community. I had some amazing friends, but the town was pretty conservative and Republican and fundamentalist, so I never intended to stay longer than I had to. Skipped town the day after high school graduation, and have not regretted it. Like, ever. My parents adopted me when I was born. I’ve never known my biological parents, but that’s fine by me – Mom and Dad are great. My extended family is mostly pretty crap, but I never saw them outside of holidays, so it’s fine. Overall, my childhood was pretty happy. I mean, there was the whole… incident in my senior year, but whatever.”

002. Are there any points in your life that changed you as a person? Are there any moments in your life you regret? “I came out as bisexual when I was in my senior year. Friends and parents were chill about it. Everyone else, not so much. I sort of lost a lot of my community, since my church wasn’t very accepting, and there were some assholes at school…” Gail sighed, picking at her nail. “I guess that’s when I really realized that people aren’t always gonna be nice or fair just because you’ve been nice and fair to them. But, you know, whatever. I don’t like to dwell on that period of my life.” She shrugged. “Of course I have regrets. Who doesn’t?”

003. How do you believe people generally perceive you? “Who cares?” she shrugged, caring, a lot.

004. What are your expectations and plans for your new life in The Ragnatela and/or the future in general? “I’m hoping to find some acting work,” she said. “Until then, I’m riding this out and seeing where it takes me. I’m lucky enough to have a job lined up, so I can afford to just see where things go. I’m looking forward to meeting new people, doing new things… it’s good to get a fresh start! I moved down here with my boyfriend, so I’m glad to be taking the next step with him. Hopefully this won’t blow up in my face, right?” She laughed.

005.  Why have you moved from your previous home to The Ragnatela? “The timing just felt right,” she shrugged. “I finished up my degree, I’m in a good relationship, and I was never cut out for the cold, anyway.”

006. What are your housing preferences? Would you prefer to live alone or with a roommate? “Well, I assume Seb and I will be living together. Penthouse, please!”

How Traders Set Goals – Goal Setting Done Right

Tony Robbins. Pablo Picasso. Bruce Lee.

On the surface, it may seem like they have nothing in common. At the turn of the 20th Century, Pablo Picasso was an impoverished artist who couldn’t sell his paintings in Paris. Fifty years later, Bruce Lee dropped out of college to fulfill his dream of starting a martial arts studio. Less than a decade after Bruce Lee passed away, Tony Robbins went from serving as the student body president of his high school to working as a janitor in Southern California.

So how did they overcome these challenges to become some of the most successful people in the world? The answer may surprise you!

The #1 Reason Why Goal Setting Doesn’t Work

In 1988, two researchers from the University of Scranton studied the long-term effects of setting goals during the new year.[1]They discovered that only 8% of the participants were able to achieve their goals, while 80% of those who were studied failed to keep their New Year’s Resolutions.

Like many of us, those participants had dreams for their future. From weight loss and health improvement to life and relationship changes, the vast majority of their goals were centered around personal issues that could have easily been addressed in the upcoming year.

And yet, only 8% succeeded. The researchers quickly discovered that their participants’ unrealistic expectations played a big role in their failure to accomplish their goals. To achieve big dreams, they needed big plans that would help them take practical steps toward producing a successful outcome — but those plans were never put into place.

So if you want to build a successful career as a trader, you have to go beyond goal setting – and especially beyond just monetary goals. An ambitious goal is only the first step if you are committed to achieving great things; the next steps will be defined by your personal strategy, and they are crucial to your success. Define your WHY and your purpose.

This is the lesson that Tony Robbins, Bruce Lee, and Pablo Picasso realized early in their careers:

Measurable goals + Consistent action = Successful outcomes.

As a world-renowned author, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry said, “A goal without a plan is just a wish.”

The S.M.A.R.T. Way To Achieve Your Goals

For decades, mindset coaches and self-improvement authors have insisted that they have the secret to setting effective goals — and often times, their advice contradicts the other “gurus” in their field. Either your goal is too ambitious, or it’s not ambitious enough; your goal should be a secret, or you should share your goal with everyone you know; your goal should motivate you, or your goal should be as challenging as possible.

Fortunately, psychological researchers have conducted numerous studies that examine the true strengths of goal setting, and their results are consistent with the practices that the world’s most successful people have used to achieve greatness.

As George T. Doran explained in his articleThere’s a S.M.A.R.T. way to write management’s goals and objectives, an effective goal must have the following characteristics:

It’s SPECIFIC, with a clear explanation for what you want to accomplish, who you are going to accomplish it for, and the amount that you would like to earn, spend or share as a result of accomplishing that goal.

“I would like to make $100k so I can increase my household income and spend more time with my family (the why).”

It’s MEASURABLE, with smaller goals that will allow you to track your progress and make adjustments if you get thrown off course.

“I would like to earn $100k in 36 months.”

It’s ATTAINABLE for you, even if it means that you have to push yourself. The best way to make sure of this is to create a series of steps that will help you accomplish your goal, like joining a community of like-minded traders who follow the same approach with similar goals.

“I” will join a group of like-minded traders, start journaling all my trades, review my trading performance and spend at least 1 hour per day working on myself.”

It’s REALISTIC, or attainable with your current resources (or resources that are available to you). If you can’t realistically achieve your goal with your budget, social network, or current time frame, you might have to make changes to start small and work your way toward larger accomplishments.

“I will invest XXX USD into my trading account and add XX USD every month to my trading account until my average trade size is $1000. Then, reaching my goal of making $100k is doable.”

It’s TIME-RELATED, with a precise time frame that is bound by a start date and an end date that you must stick to.

“I will start on June 1st, and measure my progress each quarter. In addition, I will do weekly reviews with my trading journal.”

But are S.M.A.R.T. goals effective?

Based on the most recent psychological studies, they absolutely are! According to a psychological review on the effects of goal setting on performance, “specific and challenging goals led to higher performance than easy goals, ‘do your best’ goals, or no goals [at all].”[2]

A later study at Dominican University of California found that “76 percent of participants who wrote down their goals, actions and provided weekly progress to a friend successfully achieved their goals.”[3]
