LC's Link Click fic shout-outs

I worry I'm going to come off as nagging but I do feel strongly about it. Link Click has some INCREDIBLE fic, written by people who put a lot of time and energy and effort into writing, but they don't always get a ton of reader interaction. I feel like I often find a fic I enjoy, scroll down to comment, and find I'm maybe one of 2 or 3 people to comment on it.

Link Click is technically not a small fandom--on the contrary, it's so incredibly active! But it seems that unless a fic was published in the s1 era or happens to get lucky, this is the norm. Which strikes me as sad, because the fandom is popping and active on other platforms.

So here are a handful of fics (by no means exhaustive) of fics that I've thoroughly enjoyed that I had scrolled down and went, They deserve so much love! (again, not exhaustive!)

It's such a subtle fic, but so effective in showing Lu Guang's emotions, Qiao Ling's worry, and the nature of their relationship in conjunction to Cheng Xiaoshi. It's truly just so soft and nice.

I just love a Qiao Ling confronts Lu Guang about Cheng Xiaoshi's death fic, and this one really captures big sister Qiao Ling and how much she cares about both of her boys. I love it!

Lu Guang rarely fumbles, rarely cracks, and rarely steps up to the sparring mat first. Nevertheless, on a random day in the middle of September, he does all three. Alternatively, Qiao Ling and Cheng Xiaoshi can't figure out why their best friend seems so *wrong* for no explicable reason.

A slice of life fic that adds such a delicious sprinkle of angst at Lu Guang's expense hehe. But it makes me feel so sad for Lu Guang, who just is so traumatized of losing Cheng Xiaoshi, and then it gives him a soft encouragement at the end. It's so sweet.

Man, this fic is so CREATIVE. It is great at suspense, kept me on the edge of my seat from chapter to chapter, and the Cheng Xiaoshi angst is so delicious. And then the ENDING. gahhh, I cannot wait for Part Two and really hope that it will come!! I think about this fic so often

Gosh, this fic is so goooood. I love the speculation of what the first time round was like, and GOSH it's just such a gut punch of dramatic irony, of both CXS and LG being bold and idealistic and naive, and then how it tragically leads to CXS' death. It's EXCELLENT.

The salty breeze feels nice. Cheng Xiaoshi smiles as he kneels down in the sand, happy they managed to make it in time for golden hour. Cheng Xiaoshi holds up the camera to capture his shot.

I LOVE ME SOME PARALLEL SCENES THAT ARE CONNECTED AND INTERTWINED BY AN EMOTIONAL MOTIF!! The juxtaposition of two types of golden hours is done so well, and both are so full of energy of opposite kinds in such a well balanced way. I was so excited when I heard this fic was being written and I was so happy reading it.

@hearts4ggy ever since your one doodle about Michael and Vanessa as kids,,, I cant stop thinking about that AU. It’s such a satisfying mixture of the story of the games and the movies GAHHHHH

Michael is the oldest Afton kid, Vanessa is either his twin or a little younger, and Evan is the youngest. Mike and Vanny are partners in crime as teens, though Michael is more hotheaded and a troublemaker while Vanessa is meeker and tends to get dragged into his pranks. Cue the Bite of 83’, with Michael in the fox mask and Vanessa in the rabbit mask (I was thinking smth like this rather than her iconic Vanny mask to match Michael’s a little better)

The death of Evan causes them to drift apart, the final catalyst being the MCI. Michael and Vanessa witness it a la FNAF movie lore. Both are horrified but Michael chooses to run away while Vanessa stays, in fear of being their father’s next victim if she fails to get away. She never escapes from under William’s thumb.

I haven’t fully thought through the middle section but generally, the idea is that Freddy’s shuts down and years pass. William and Vanessa almost seem to disappear off the face of the planet, Michael seemingly the only one able to escape the gravity that was the MCI tragedy. but almost a decade later, people have been going missing around the abandoned Freddy’s again and Michael (who never really got over what happened) suspects that William is back.

Michael goes to investigate only to find himself face to face with, not William, but Vanessa. His shy younger sister. Only now she has a lot more blood on her hands.

Smth smth the fox and the rabbit switching roles right??? I love FNAF’s reverse food chain, it’s so compelling.

I haven’t thought much past this point but I feel like it’s gotta eventually converge into the death of William Afton somehow. There’s not exactly a small child like Abby to be in danger but I can see Michael getting lured back every night by the ghost of Evan like Mike is by Garrett in the movie. Perhaps Michael is able to convince Vanessa that he’s gonna get her out of there. William comes to the pizzeria as Springbonnie cause he finds out Michael is back, Vanessa turns the animatronics against William because they see her as one of them but still gets stabbed.

and there can be like a sweet heartfelt moment of Michael and Vanessa in the hospital and her waking up like “You kept your promise, you got me out.” and Mike being super guilty about her getting hurt and her replying “Well I’m still alive, arent I? That’s all that matters.” and woo peace and love on planet earth. family reunited. until william always comes back or whatever.

90% sure all of this is just nonsense word vomit but that one doodle really just drove the brainrot crazy.

idr what prompted it other than just the car accident being on my mind for the decade anniversary but while i was driving the other day i was remembering specifically how and crying about <- hes always crying lately and its cause hes not actually having a good sob session its just all getting clogged up in there and leaking out about everything. i dont remember doing this. but clearly i called my mom and asked for help. and to her credit she did drive five hours to come stay with me and help me figure out what to do with it and how to buy a new car. but i would ask for emotional comfort or talk about how scary it was that i felt like i could have died and she was like kjsfg so surprised and uncomfortable. and irritated to even be there.

and she went with me to all buddys final vet appointments and helped me manage that but i remember asking her for a hug in one of them and again so surprised and uncomfortable lol. and actually she was there bc i was living w them after the breakup [another material kindness!] bc she was the first one i called when it happened to get me out of the house and distract me [and again was surprised and uncomfortable!]

and to lay this out its like kjsfg yeah u know i wouldnt do better in these situations i would probably even do worse. so i guess im not mad at her for it [altho i wish she would realize this is the person she is so she would stop giving me mixed signals of wanting to be super close and personal and then pulling away when i try to actually meet her there lol].

RAW EGGS?? DON'T GIVE HIM SALMONELLA WHEN HE'S HUNGOVER Daily Hobie HC! I'm really nervous cus I've been invited to a sleepover- so maybe maybe not there may not be a daily hobie hc tomorrow..we'll see:.) Baking for Hobie is always chaos. It's about to be Yuri's birthday soon, and you wanted to bake a cake for her, with Hobie joining to be a menace. Since you were attempting to make a chocolate cake, you gave Hobie the instructions as he watched you set up the equipments. His eyes briefly skimmed over the instructions, before tossing them over his shoulder playfully, claiming that you both didnt need it. Hobie watched over your shoulder as you mixed the batter, reading out the instructions to make it. While you asked him for the next ingredient, he'd read out in a monotoned voice to 'let your boyfriend called hobie brown eat some of the batter'. Unfortunately, his attempts failed. However, his luck spiked when you put him in charge of making the icing while you pre-heated the oven. He shamelessly would scoop up some icing with his fingers and pop them into his mouth, enjoying the sweet chocolate flavor. Hobie scooped up a dollop of icing with one finger, beckoning you over. Holding you against him, he chuckles as you try to fight him away and failing as he gently spreads the icing along your lips like lipstick. Before you could lick any off, he quickly presses his lips to yours, licking some of the icing off of your lips, humming at the added sweetness. As he pulled away, he licked his lips with a chuckle, holding you close as you held a lovestruck expression on your face. You had to practically pull Hobie away from the icing, or else he would've eaten it all when you poured it into the piping bag, the cake already in the oven. However, to satiate his craving for sugar, you quickly thrust the spatula towards him, allowing him to lick off the icing. While the two of you wait for the cake to finish baking in the oven, you teasingly lean over and lick some of the icing off the spatula, earning a pout from Hobie as he turns away, keeping the icing for himself. He stops himself from completely melting upon hearing your laughter as he slowly turned around, licking up the last of the icing from the spatula, before washing it. Once the cake was ready, this was now going to be the most difficult part, since Hobie had already proven himself to have no control when it came to the icing. Coating the cake in a layer of icing was surprisingly tame, with Hobie watching and spinning the cake for you. However, when you begin piping the swirls, was when Hobie decided he wanted to nick some. His fingers expertly swipe the topping swirls off, quickly putting it inside his mouth and looking at you with an innocent expression. Giving into his antics with a sigh, he chuckles, thinking he'll finally get some of that sweet icing. He feigns offence as you suddenly pipe a line of icing down his nose, which was messy as he instinctively scrunched up his nose in response. As revenge, Hobie leaned close to your neck, before rubbing off the icing from the bridge of his nose to your chin, smirking towards you as he swallows a laugh at your slow turn. Let's just hope Yuri doesn't mind the spiral toppings on her cake getting more messy as it went on around...(Hobie's fault) -🐦‍⬛

but yeah, if you couldn't tell from my 'here's this video overviewing the Hoder scene' : Hoder is like, one of my second favorite of the newly introduced khdr characters minus Vidar.

like, Vidar and Hoder both have such similar character beats in places, but the stuff that actually like, Happens in khdr evokes this like.

really strong imagery of Vidar who only after things get actively worse can bring himself to the concept of striking down Baldr and just. refusing to believe that sacrifice and grief are the only ways to resolve things until he and Vala+Vali break down/give up over the course of days with no progress, and Hermod and Urd ending up the way they do.

This contrasted to Hoder, the final thing where Xehanort hesitates in striking Baldr down after the first Hoder action, and she looks /back/, sees that, and tries to do it for him (despite it being her /brother/, despite her regretting it and trying to take it back earlier. even with that) to spare him the blood on his hands (because she's already dead, because Xehanort and Eraqus have a future, because of so many other things).

odin's classroom scene both tends to depict them both as being very concerned about doing the right thing and also having really strongly held internal beliefs alongside being like. fundamentally very anxious people, but at the end of all things, Vidar and Hoder both cede ground to Odin's words, but the path they both take to get there is like. gahhhhh *gestures vaguely*

I like them. they're very cool.

They've set up mr lee/mountain spirit too kindly to have him be a full villain i feel. Like they show an equal amount of moments that paint him in a positive light to ones that portray him as a villain. So its gotta be something like a miscommunication plot or a 'redeemed at the final moment of death' or some shit, i can feel it.. (and if im wrong. Well fuck me lol)

-Aw even back in time they were fucking adorable. But I have to say the mountain spirit romance plot takes the cake this episode for me, the tsundere storyline always wins 😔 im easy to please,,, now if only they couldve stayed happy on the mountain with the puppy kid T.T altho it feels weird when translated to the modern day cos while she was a married woman in the flashback shes a whole student in present day 💀

-But i am endlessly charmed by the mountain spirit and his pretty brown eyes and his trying so hard not to get attached to the fragile mortals <3 Also i think i reaallllly vibe with the historical aspect so ill pick up a historical drama from your list next (i still havent started another one yet sksjsk)

-My misunderstanding plot theory gains momentum! Mountain spirit looked away for literally the exact second she got stabbed and just assumes it was the dude like. I mean i get it but gAHHhhh!!

-Now now mountain spirit. Step away from the dog. Please dont kill the dOG-.... Ah.. Too late ... (unrelated but why is the vet sleeping at the animal hospital sksjsj? Protestant work ethic strikes again)

-So anyway this episode was made just to make me fall deeper in love with mr mountain spirit 😔 and im really looking forward to confict and confrontations next episode >:] (also thank you for the new recs!!! Ive added them to my list ^.^)

No but deadass, I feel as though this entire piece of media as been slept on for too long!! Too many people see the League of Legends tag on the end and assume like other failed pieces of game media is just not that good, or even that it’s Straight Up Bad! I was one of those people!! I didn’t watch the actual show until 2022 when my partner forced me to sit down and watch it!

Until I watched it I had always assumed it was like the assassin’s creed movie or the Call of Duty movie or literally any other video game turned movie that was absolutely dogshit! But!!!! But then I watched it and it was absolutely FANTASTIC!!

There are like 5 seperate stories happening simultaneously and not one feels rushed or unauthentic or even just Bad! It’s themes on children and war and what abusive relationships look like are all carefully constructed to fit into this massive world that doesn’t feel I fished or rushed, every little detail feeds into another detail and that then feeds into another tiny detail.

And that’s not even starting on the animation!!! The attention to detail! The distinct almost realistic cartoon feel, the way each character looks different and unique without feeling out of place in the style of the world! THE WAY THAT NO TWO WOMEN LOOK ALIKE! THE WAY THAT THEY HAVE DIFFERENT TYPES OF STRONG AND POWERFUL WOMEN! The fact that physical disabilities don’t feel out of place or shoved in last moment!!!

But the ending? Holy shit the ending! The poetry of Jinx having to fight the people she loves! The poetry of being haunted by her loved ones in their worst possible moments! The visualisation of jinx’s and Ekko’s fight?? The way they show the pair fighting as adult cut with them playing as children???? The way that that whole fight is one of the best and saddest and overwhelming brilliant fights in the show?? The way I’m tearing up just thinking about it?????? I cried so hard during that fight because you can tell that they’re both fighting someone else’s fight! They are fighting over something so important and so old!!! This fight so beautiful and so fucking sad!!

The ending itself, the cast of politicians that have been so far above Jinx and the others finally coming to peace, deciding to make peace with the poor and the Others of their world just as Jinx decides to kill them!! The way the war between these two classes ended that day regardless of one party’s decision because the other party had already decided what was going to happen???? Jinx murdering these righteous politicians as they decide to make peace with her is so poetically tragic and so incredibly wrong and just so perfectly cruel in a way that lets every single viewer know Jinx is making the wrong decision, that she is killing peace literally and figuratively in this scene.

Jinx is murdering peace and then the show fucking ends! With an explosion of rage and fulfilment and carnage Jinx ends the narrative by claiming her name, beating her sister and murdering a room full of people who are literally deciding (FAR TOO LATE) to make peace with her side of this war.

GAHHHHH ITS SUCH A GREAT ENDING!!!!!!!

There's definitely more sadrien content in this fandom given *gestures at Adrien* everything canon puts him through/has waiting for him. There's some good angsty Marinette content as well, but IME a lot of it ends up intersecting and overlapping with Adrien angst. But anyway, here's my recs for you

Multi-chapter. WIP!!! Hey, remember at the end of season 3 when Adrien tried to move on from Ladybug? And how Kagami was his choice but also really didn’t put up with his shit? Yeahhhh, now imagine he’d given Marinette a chance. This girl PINES and it’s heartbreaking and beautiful and they’re SO STUPID but gahhhhh so good. Even though it’s a WIP it’s gotten to a pretty good place so please don’t let that stop you from reading!

Because of the content there's obviously a lot of Adrien angst here too, but I appreciated Marinette's perspective here, especially how upset she was to realize how much she'd hurt someone she cares about. And really some of the best angst comes from characters dealing with the fallout of their own mistakes.

Two-shot. Marinette's choices regarding Chat Noir in season 4 have consequences, and she needs to face up to that. This totally made me cry, but it was very cathartic.

The problem was that even after they'd reconciled and tentatively worked things out, Chat Noir had still been hurt. He'd asked for space, and Ladybug had been so careful to respect his request. After months, she'd hoped they might grow closer again, but there was still a wall between them. She wasn't sure if he'd ever ask to cross it.

But oh, she'd wait forever, if only he would.

Adrien had also looked very shaken at the sight of Chat Noir and had immediately excused himself; she supposed it had to do with everything that had happened with his father being Hawkmoth and she couldn't really blame him.

Or a younger Chat Noir hit by a time-traveling akuma helps Marinette to find back her partner, after he had told her that he needed a break from heroing two years before and had never come back.

Multi-chapter. Marinette never really got over her partner disappearing after they defeated Hawkmoth and then thanks to time traveling shenanigans he’s suddenly in front of her and all of her feelings come rushing to the surface and she’s so sad!! Emsy fixes it though.

*he turned back to his normal self and quickly stepped back to try and retreat but he was feeling too weak.. breathing was becoming so hard, he tumbled on the ground and watched as all of his remaining energy was being extracted*

Wh-what are y-ou doing?

*he said with his trembling voice.. it's usually loud and fierce! What the heck happened to his voice?*

*Berry just glared down at him and took out his axe*

Yan Bakugo is trying his best not to destroy everything in that damn, room trying to murder that person but not in front of you ofc. They aren’t trying to traumatize you. Mean while Yan kirishima is carrying you back to the car mumbling out a “you’re safe now and don’t worry we’re going find the person who hurt you”. Once they find him, Bakugo is literally beating the shit out of them, but he doesn’t care. THEY HURT THEIR BABY. So both of them are showing no mercy. Now the person who hurt is gone now, you’re safe now again. Once all three of you return to another house (because they have multiple houses literally everywhere in case). Yan bakugo and kiri are cleaning you up, bandaging up you’re bruises and just comforting you in their arms slightly tearing up here and there brushing your tears away. “ Don’t cry anymore baby, where just happy to have you back in our arms with us. No one’s going to harm you again. I promise”. You we’re just as happy as them, enjoying the warmth from both of them while whispering how much they love you and care for you. Now they got you back for good. Yan bakugo is preparing all over your face with kisses like you’ve been gone to long. That’s how they spend their night again with you right where you belong in their arms.

Jen hun my ovaries hurt picturing two beefy daddies(BDs) with itty bitties ( that’s what I’m calling the triplets now). Like bitties are so upset they just want skin to skin with there daddies and that’s the only thing that will calm them down ( tbh me too honestly just want snuggles with BDs). AHH!! But seriously imagine this those two when they're in the house NEVER wear shirts. It's just their pants/shorts/boxers whatever, for that reason. Especially with the girls, they're such dad and daddy's girls (Curtis is dad and Ari is daddy) and all they want is the warmth coming from their dads. Curtis will just gently take Arleigh from your arms and softly hold her. Those tears turn into gasping sniffles before finally she calms enough to make her sleep, and you can't even be mad when you see her fingers are wrapped so tightly around his pointer finger.

Or Ari thinks that Evaluna's bed is his chest. She's always nestled tightly too him. Her little face scrunches up in a yawn, and Ari looks down at her like she's the most precious and wonderful thing in the world. The two of them nearly in a world of their own. Or the way they just watch you with any of the babies, especially Owin. The way his eyes look around for you, because you're hims mama and he needs you.

Or even how patient they are when you want to nurse. They never make a comment of how there's one of you and three of them. Curtis and Ari just soothe the baby that isn't nursing until you cry out in frustration. Still they don't say anything, waiting on you to make a comment. Their lips tenderly kissing around your hairline. "It's not working. I wanted this so bad."

"There's always pumping," Ari gives you a soft sweet kiss to your lips.

"Yeah, we've been doing the research, a lot of women do well with pumping. Produce more milk, and then we get to help feed them."

You look between the two of them in awe because they did research 🥺

Or when they FINALLY let you just go to the store. "Let one of us come with you," Ari pleads holding onto a sleeping Arleigh, but you shake your head. "What if something happens?"

"But something has happened, and I was there to save you," Curtis adds, as he rocks Evaluna and Owin on his chest.

"No, then there will be three of them and one of whoever stays behind."

"You do it all the time. How about we all go? One of us can sit in the car with the babies, and the other can," you just shake your head no. "But Princess..."

"Stop, I'll be gone thirty minutes, an hour tops. You two will be fine."

They pout when you leave but finally relent. And when you come back your heart aches at Ari asleep on the couch with both girls laying on his chest. Those big beefy arms holding them in place, while Curtis is laying on his tummy in the floor with Owin smiling and talking with the boy.
