Not at all! Both to you being "that person" and you having to compete with Cécile. Having a rival in an otome game can be fun but that's not the point of Gael's route! Nor Cécile's!

The main relationship in the game is always (for the moment*) MC x LI. So don't worry, you won't have to compete with him in any romantic field or aspect—just like you won't have to compete with Gael in Cécile's route. Without spoilering too much, Cécile openly dislikes the MC and will surely try to sabotage them (amongst...other things) but it has nothing to do with the MC being in love with Gael or vice versa!

Also, remember that if Gael and Cécile aren't romantically together, no matter how much time they've known each other, it may be for a handful of good reasons. Cécile's devotion isn't necessarily a romantic or positive thing Gael has to like, for example!

*I would love to be able to write a poly route with these three at some point (as in Gael, Cécile and MC love each other equally) but that's not one of our main goals right now. Just an extra thing I'd love to explore!

P.S: I hope no one understands this ask as a "Cécile x Gael isn't a thing" because that's not the case at all! It could be and there's a lot of you who enjoy it, me included! It's just more complicated than that and I don't want to spoil something that I think is really interesting to experience in game :^)

You've been rebloging a decent amount of Soulsborne stuff, so if you have time, can you say who your favorite character's are in all these games?

Oh... well a fair amount of my thoughts CERTAINLY changed, but I'll give you a top 10.

Number 1. Messmer The Impaler (Elden Ring) - Messmer was certainly a welcome surprise. He was the firstborn son of Queen Marika, ultimately the one who personally oversaw the genocide of the hornsent in the Land of Shadow, and event so horrific and cruel that its impact could still be felt within the present day. He was afflicted with a curse at his birth, in which a dark and malevolent snake threatened to eat him from the inside, which resulted in Marika plucking out his eye and replacing it with a seal of grace. Sounds like quite the monster, right? Well here's the thing. Messmer's a surprisingly good boss, like he literally preserved his enemies culture inside a storeroom just because one of his knights requested it, and has at least some level of compassion. Sure some of his men defected after finding out about the true nature of his existence, but there were some that even stuck around because they know who he is as a person. So why did this great guy commit literal one of the most horrific events in history? Well you see, Marika basically told him to eliminate the hornsent, and it wasn't just a standard order... it was a secret banishment for him, and Marika's vengeance on the hornsent. That's right, Messmer was exiled so he could be a scapegoat for his mother in the Land of Shadow. While this doesn't absolve him of his crimes, it ultimately makes him extremely pitiable.

Number 2. Queen Marika & Radagon (Elden Ring) - A god, a vessel, a warmonger, a mother, a schemer, a monster, and a pitiful woman. These are all the things that Queen Marika The Eternal was, and by god she deserves to be remembered by all of them. Radagon is her other half. The Demigods were her children. Messmer is her son. The Lands Between were her lands. She destroyed several races. She destroyed the Elden ring. Everything in the game is connected to her in some capacity. This is some Sauron tier shit that's been done with someone who's now just a prisoner in her own fortress thanks to her fear of her reigns inevitable end. Elden Ring has a TON of antagonists, each one active in their own right across the Lands Between. Marika on the other hand is both a prisoner in her own home, and a god on her last knees who faces The Tarnished through Radagon, yet almost every last evil committed in the game is connected to her past history of cruelty and malevolence in service to her Golden Order.

Number 3. Malenia (Elden Ring) - Malenia was my fave for a good while, and is still one of my top 5 bosses in the series. Her background, how that background ties into the world, her difficulty not being too bullshit yet still giving veterans a good taste of the dirt, her simplistic yet effective character, and the concept of someone being that goddamn sickly yet still being so undeniably persistent, powerful, and near-invincible is intriguing and cool, and it's executed very well in her case. Her boss being optional is just icing on the cake. Overall she's a spectacle.

Number 4. Miquella (Elden Ring) - He's a charming lil guy. Yes he cut out everything that made himself a good person in order to become the god of a new era, and is an expert manipulator due to his powers, but he's still just a lil guy.

Number 5. Father Gascoigne (Bloodborne) - Originally, Laurence was my favorite Bloodborne character, but after some careful reconsideration... this guy is at the top. Why? I like how simplistic his lore is, but aside from that, he's basically a reflection of the Good Hunter and a really great first legit boss. He serves as a gatekeeper for new players, and his transformation from skilled hunter to a monstrous werewolf mid-fight is a perfect introduction to what fate usually awaits any hunter who inevitably gets blood drunk in Yharnam. And the cherry on top? He's just a guy. He was just a normal ass hunter with a wife and child before all of this, hell you could even use his daughter's music box to snap him out of his blood drunk state for a second. IMO Gascoigne is underrated as hell.

Number 6. Lady Maria (Bloodborne) - Between the Plain Doll being based off her, her connection to Gehrman, and being one of the hunters at the Fishing Hamlet, Maria is undeniably a great character with a vast presence.

Number 7. Ludwig (Bloodborne) - Tragic Hornse. In all seriousness though, Ludwig is a perfect summary of Bloodborne, and honestly one of the top 3 bosses in the entire series.

Number 8. Isshin Ashina (Sekiro) - Isshin's presence overshadows that of the main antagonist, Genechiro Ashina, and its entirely intentional. He basically is the symbol of his entire clan, leading a rebellion against the invading forces alongside many warriors and triumphing. Isshin was a living legend in the past, but in the present? He's old, sick, and on his last legs. He's still defending his clan, but for his strength, he's still mortal. He's still human. He's the perfect reflection of his clan. That and he’s an amazing final boss. Go Grandpa Ashina!

Number 9. Gwyn, Lord of Cinder (Dark Souls) - Horrible, HORRIBLE god. He ruined humanity, is a bad father, and is SO worthy of being hated... yet he's so pitiable and pathetic. Gwyn is responsible for almost every tragedy in the trilogy, yet even his own story is a tragedy. A paranoid god king making the literal worst decisions ever to the point where he literally destroys himself. There's a level of understandability with his character that makes him tragic, but ultimately, he's still a monster. And this isn't even bringing up the Soul of Cinder.

Number 10. Slave Knight Gael (Dark Souls) - An old slave knight from the age of fire, literal cannon fodder, not only outlives the gods, but goes on a quest to get the Dark Soul so that The Painter, his niece, would paint a new world. You get familiar with him in the Ashes of Ariandel DLC, and by the time of the Ringed City DLC you see that Gael has slipped into madness and stands atop literal desolation. At first he fights on all 3's, only using his sword as a weapon as he jumps and crawls around, but after his guts are cut open and he gets the power of the dark soul, he truly begins fighting like a man and will occasionally rely on the newfound power he has to strike the Ashen One down with magic. Still at the end of the day... this fight is just between two nobodies who outlived the gods.

Y'all are sleeping on Sweets headcanons, so I am here to pick up the slack (which ended up becoming a long rant, and I'm not sorry)

-Sweets' bitch from another ditch Gael is a tattoo artist, y'all know Sweets is Gael's test dummy

Sweets is probably covered head to toe in the randomists tattoos. They got at least one full sleeve, 7 of them are incomplete, and maybe like 3-5 of them are actually ones Sweets wanted

But I offer you Nat coloring Sweets' tattoos to the point where Sweets buys her temporary tattoo markers for her birthday

-Essence Eaters live longer than the average person, right? So Sweets could easily be twice Law's age but is still making fun of him and calling him an old man despite him being in his 20's (imagine Sweets being born in the 70's-80's and Law 90's-early 2000's XD Sweets is very happy that ripped jeans are back in style)

I also imagine Sweets with longer hair because at some point they decided that going to get a hair cut every month or so is too much of a hassle for how long their life span is (and I offer you Sweets eventually needing to dye their hair grey to match Law's so they still look like a couple to non-attuned (I'm not sorry))

Also, remember that in the "getting patched up-" video Law says that "this doesn't look like one of the little scuffles you do for fun at the circle"???? Hello??? Street fighter Sweets??? Go kick ass Sweets you got this baby

-And scars?? I'd imagine they'd obviously have the few you get from childhood, and if we're going with street fighter Sweets, then they probably have a bit more than normal. Like on their knuckles and maybe one on their cheek/forehead/lip/ankles or something. But ya know, it's just for fun, and every once in a while, they're not addicted to fighting or anything

But then the fight with Joel? Joel was out for blood, and Sweets practically died. There are definitely scars, one of which I imagine being a scratch over their eye cause I'm edgy like that (plus it makes sense that Joel would use everything in his arsenal to take down the all powerful Sweets which means nails and playing dirty).

But there is definitely a bite scar since he drained Sweets' lifeforce, which is why they were so concerned about Law getting scarred after the train incident. They don't want him living through that pain they feel every time they see their own bite scar (and ya know they can't live with the idea of hurting Law so "please at least don't let my mistakes scar")

-And speaking of the train incident Law stated that Sweets is strong as all hell and I'm here for it and I need them to crush a watermelon and Law looses his shit (buff Sweets for the wiiiin)

-Sweets' heartbeat was already a comfort for Law, but after Joel, you'll often find Law pressed against their heart. Cuddling on Sweets' chest is a must. When Law has a bad day, Sweets immediately presses him against their chest. Hugs often are one of Law's arms wrapped around them and his other hand press against their chest. Law sitting in between Sweets' legs so he can lean his back or shoulder against their heart

-I think it would be funny if Sweets also had an accent (like Bitish or Scottish or some shit) and everyone enjoys watching Nat struggle with her own accent because she'd have the weirdest mix of her father's southern, her mother's average american, and Sweets' (maybe a bit of uncle desdes)

(And while we're talking about Nat, when are we getting her dog!??! Please, I need the household to just become Spy X Family)

-Can we talk about how good Sweets is with kids? Where did you pick that up? Cause I just always imagined them as an orphaned only child? Like I physically can't see them with a family before Law and Nat, but maybe that's just me

(Maybe they grew up in foster homes and were always the older sibling of the group? Idk)

-One order of Sweets being good at the guitar and singing, strumming their guitar while Law plays the piano and singing Nat to sleep please

Sweets being in a band as a teen in the 80's/90's sounds like good blackmail for Gage to abuse (especially the hair) (but like imagine them doing a killer rift then proceeding to sing Def Leppard)

-I think their job would be like a metal worker or glass blowing, and I don't have an explanation as to why

-Sweets honestly feels like the most responsible and mature person out of all the characters they're just shit at taking care of themself and, say it with me: ✨️traumatized✨️

-I also imagine Sweets as a male, but that's my own problem

But imagine Nat finally calling them dad, and they just combust

Plus Sweets feels like one of those dads who drops a piece of lore then never speaks of it again (whereas Law is the hands on hips, legs apart dad pose (you know the one I'm talking about))

The idea of Sweets being "one of the guys" with Law's coworkers gives me life (because yes Love/Newbie is also a male cause if Desmond isn't just a pure gay man then you're wrong (honestly like 90% the listeners are male in my head)idk)

So, I was reading about your "Bael the Bard" and Gael parallels and then it struck me: Just as Petyr BAELish kidnaps Sansa to the Vale and BAEL the Bard kidnaps the Stark girl and impregnates her, do you think BAELon may have taken Gael away to give birth to her child as a sort of attempt to protect her (and maybe to cover up for Jaehaerys)? Idk I think I may be reaching here

No you're cooking, I do wonder if the BAELon thing is on purpose because we also have BAELor the Blessed who locks his sisters in a tower because of his own lust for them, and dies when Daena "gives into" her lust and becomes pregnant with a bastard son by someone who would have had to sneak into or sneak her out of the tower in order to have sex. This is just as in the original story, where the Stark maiden is taken from her room in a tower, then reappears suddenly with an infant having never left Winterfell (just as Daena never escapes King's Landing). Later on, after her son kills Bael, she throws herself from that same tower. Also, something something, Daena's son gets himself a crown and turns to making war on his kin just as Bael and his son both get themselves crowns and turn to warring against their own kin (each other). That all feels purposeful to me, so Baelon being named BAELon does raise some eyebrows.

I think maybe there's a link here re: the line of succession. Noted that the liege lord of Winterfell, Brandon Stark, had no other living children by the time Bael the Bard came to seduce his daughter - his family tree had been whittled down to just himself and the Stark Maiden, and so her bastard was named the next Stark in Winterfell. The Targaryen tree had also come down to a girl, Rhaenys, but the line doesn't descend from her - like Bael the Bard kind of stealing the Stark line out of from under them by ensuring it descended partially from himself, Baelon steals (whether through active trickery or a simple refusal to break from his father's opinions) the succession right out from under Rhaenys. Or well, really, Jaehaerys steals it right out from under it using Baelon's name - another point in the Jaehaerys the Bard column there.

I do wonder if, idk, these hanging lines in the targ family tree are meant to confuse re: Aegon VI. i mean obviously there's the r+l=j stuff in the Gael thing (and the Bael the Bard thing!) where Gael is seduced by a singer and has a bastard and then dies and there's a lot of mystery surrounding it that gets hushed up but ALSO. I wonder if like. There's a purposeful muddying here, to introduce several potential Targaryen descent lines - maybe to confuse his origins, that he could be descended from a few potential lines (I do think in the end we won't get a clear answer; I'm sure george has an answer in mind but I think narratively what he's trying to do is less give us a clear answer and more give us conflicting answers to make a point about how history is recorded). And perhaps similar to Ashara & the mystery surrounding her baby, there will be more About The Mystery of Gael (then again, Gael herself could be pointing towards Ashara herself - whether Ashara is alive, whether her baby is alive, or whether she was in on some sort of conspiracy while she lived).

A maybe not-so-brief opinion on tennis kits: Monte Carlo Masters 2025

So I decided to write about tennis kits because I'm always paying too much attention to them, and I like to yap about it. I'm no specialist on sports or fashion, I'm simply a Person with Opinions™. It's mainly focused on singles and everything here is absolutely arbitrary. (Most pictures were taken from the tournament's website since I have no other social media.)

The semi-finalists

Let's start with the fantastic four of this tournament:

Carlos Alcaraz

I already said my opinion here before, but I'll say it again: I dislike this. Don't get me wrong, definitely is not the ugliest kit I've ever seen (it's super basic, for sure), but Carlos is such a vibrant young man and this purple is so... cold and boring. It's that tone of lilac you notice on your arm casually in a small bruise, when you can't even remember how the hell you got that; so as you can see, nothing too much interesting or noteworthy. I'm yet to see Carlitos looking ugly tho, so I'll say this is a solid 6.5/10. It's not amazing, but not horrendous. Do I think Carlos deserved a better kit for clay season? Yes, but at the end of the day it works, even if it erases a little bit of the bright of our sunshine boy.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina

It gives bee, which is likable. I have no strong opinion on this to be fair; it's simple, it's efficient. It's the type of kit you look and say "ah, nice" with a calm expression on your face and forget about it the next second. But I find black on tennis kits always a bit chic, so I like it, I suppose.

Lorenzo Musetti

This shade of green gives such a nice contrast with the orange of clay! It's pleasant to see, although I'm not a fan of the back of the shirt. But the pattern is cool, kinda 60s; and if we pay attention, Lorenzo is matching the theme of the tournament with this combo of green and white. A good kit.

Alex de Minaur

Even if Alex look like he's in pain on this picture, I think this kit suits him very well. This darker shade of blue is elegant, which makes a lot of sense since our mouse man is a gentleman indeed. There's nothing too much special about it, but its simplicity make it classy, you know? I like it!

The inspired Lacoste

A classic polo, but this looks nice. The sleeves being of a different color and these details in blue gives a whole charm to it. The colors are vibrant and cool, and even if I prefer the pink one since I'm a sucker for pink kits, Fils looks very fancy too. Overall approved.

The uninspired Lacoste

A classic polo, but this looks boring, sadly. I think there's not much to talk about it because I have the feeling these two chooses always the same uninteresting kits. I never get this tenniscourt line on Djokovic's shirt. Like, the guy is addicted to break records and all, can't he have anything more original? And I think I'd prefer Daniil's shirt without this gradiant detail; it's an attempt of having something different but unfortunately gives us nothing. (I think Rolex Monte-Carlo agrees with me since there's only one pic of Daniil on their website, and none of Novak. I had to get his pic on the ATP's website. That's how precarious these kits are.)

Honorable mentions

Gael Monfils

The most charismatic person on tennis is wearing a clay color shirt on clay season. Now this is commitment. Love it. (Although not a fan of these blue sleeves, but ok, La Monf's charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent makes acceptable.)

Stefanos Tsitsipas

He looks like a Sharpie highlighter, which suits the character imo. I'm not sure I'm able to elaborate.

Andrey Rublev

Look, even if I love an orange+blue combo, this Rublo's pattern is starting to get a bit repetitive. I think that the pink one he wore for this year's hardcourt season looked very cool, but we've seen this already, right? Let's hope it won't become a new On or something. But still is an elegant pattern with very nice colors, so it's approved.

Matteo Berrettini

Honestly, what an ugly shade of brown. In Brazil we have a name for this shade, it's "color of a donkey when it runs away". I have no clue who had the idea of this specific image, but I agree. I can see a donkey running away when I see this Boss polo; it's not the most flattering color even if donkeys are very friendly animals. That being said, Matteo is absolutely handsome, so this kit it's approved anyway.

And that's fine! Their relationship is complicated. Extremely so!

There's a lot of power dynamics involved, for starters—I think it's fun that everyone has their headcanons based on what we share in asks. Then you can experience their relationship in game and draw your own conclusions!

To not leave you with a cryptic answer—Cécile wouldn't say he's in love with Gael. That'd be putting him at the same level as the god he worships and prays to. He'd rather die!

they do! the gold Adranian coins (which is what Clementine has) have the symbol of the king/king's house which is the swooping hawk that we'll see Duncan wearing later. that's basically the royal sigil of Adrania, and we'll see wardens, soldiers, and other high-ranking politicians or wealthy Adranian families wearing it throughout the game.

silver coins have a merchant ship on them, and bronze coins have the moon on one side, and the sun on the other side (to represent the Wolfmother's children, but to avoid directly printing the image of a god on money). Gael is different in that their gold coin actually has a whale on it, since whaling and fishing is their main source of income (versus Adrania, which in the south has decent farming and functions as a massive trade hub between/with Gael and Yulan). their silver coins have a wolf on one side, sun and moon on the other (same reason as Adranian's have it on their bronze) and then Gaelish bronze coins just have a silhouette of the southern mountain range and sea stacks.

Gael also has whale bone coins and Yulan has shell coins, but those don't get traded with Adrania. only the metal coins, and that's just because gold is gold; it doesn't change much of the value, it's only aesthetics, and the flow of coins between Gael, Adrania, and Yulan (Adrania's main international trade partner) is vital for all three countries.

maelor dies before the dance, and so does viserra i'd imagine (though i haven't thought out an ending for her if she marries maelor ...) - they don't really have an impact themselves on that whole plotline, but their kids are alive during it. ultimately i don't think they change much in terms of the ending and going forward past the dance; potentiallyyyy if naelle ends up marrying a brax as i thought about once or twice she lives, but she doesn't have a dragon (just an egg) so that only really means that house brax gets some targ ties in the future.

Yes!! I saw Ditya and that he's Javanese + Ravnos in your post, and I was like, "Hello brother from another father/mother 👋"

So her coterie doesn't know most of this, but Gael's half-Indonesian, born in France, and lived most of her childhood years in Roubaix with foster parents and a younger sister. She became a teenage runaway at 14 and eventually ended up in Amsterdam. This is her face claim I use for art comms.
