I don’t know where you found that but yes. I often think and feel in colours, if that makes any sense. One of the first inspirations for the orange bedroom was this Nan Goldin picture (it was the first profile pic of this account, before I found @pedrorascal's beautiful icons).

I could see them basking in an orange glow, but couldn't explain why, it was instinctual. It wasn't until I was several chapters in that I realised that, growing up, we had orange curtains in our living-room. And it hit me. I remembered walking into the room one day when I was 5, it was ablaze with orange light and it stopped me in my tracks, I felt an intense, overwhelming sense of safety and I wished for it to last forever. But nothing is forever and a few months later, my parents got divorced and I never experienced that feeling ever again.

But Frankie & Gabrielle, they are forever (✨fairy tale✨). And they have so much grief to evade. That colour was meant for them.

I like the colour blue, but I associate it with sadness and melancholy. They are reunited, at long last, but they can't be. She's spoken for, and he's betraying the man who saved his life at the expense of two other soldiers. They both know it can't last, no matter how ardently they wish it would, no matter how desperately they cling onto one another, no matter how safe she feels in his arms, no matter how sincere his promises to protect her in every colour.
