Natasha's eyes flashed with anger. "You've always been so sure of yourself, haven't you? But your magic tricks won't save you from a bullet."

Wanda's smile widened, her eyes glowing slightly with power. "And your bullets won't save you from my magic. But let's be honest, Natasha, you won't really pull the trigger, will you?"

The room crackled with unspoken threats, neither woman willing to back down, the weight of their past encounters pressing upon them. Just as the tension seemed unbearable, the door flew open, and you walked in, unaware of the tense situation you had just stumbled into.

"Natasha, I need your signature on these-" You stopped abruptly, your eyes widening as you took in the scene before you. Natasha Romanoff and Wanda Maximoff in one room? You couldn't believe it.

Wanda's eyes didn't leave you, a slow, predatory smile spreading across her lips. Natasha noticed the change immediately, her own gaze narrowing but her anger abating as she saw the Scarlet Witch's interest in her assistant.

"Interesting.." murmured Natasha, her voice taking on a new..seductive tone. She pushed off from the desk and moved towards you, who stood frozen in place. "It seems you’re a bit distracted. Do I see a hint of jealousy?"

Wanda's smile grew wider, her magic swirling around her fingers. "Perhaps. But I bet I could please her better than you ever could." Natasha's eyes narrowed, her competitive nature flaring up. "Is that a challenge, Maximoff?"

Wanda tilted her head, her smile a mix of mischief and challenge. "Absolutely. Let's see who can bring our little assistant here the most pleasure." Your heart raced, your eyes darting between the two powerful women. Before you could react, the door clicked shut behind you, sealing your fate. Wanda's magic shimmered, and in an instant, both women stood transformed, their intentions clear and undeniable.

Natasha moved first, her hands gliding over your shoulders, her touch firm yet gentle. "Relax, Y/n. Let's be hospitable to our guest, okay, Detka?" Wanda conjured a coin from thin air, her eyes sparkling. "Let's make it fair, Natasha. Heads or tails?" Natasha's eyes gleamed with challenge. "Heads."

Wanda tossed the coin, and it spun in the air before landing in her hand. "Tails. Looks like I go first." She approached you, her eyes burning with desire. Her magic caressed your skin, making you shiver with anticipation. "Don't be afraid, sweetheart. I've got you."

Wanda's touch was both gentle and demanding, her fingers gliding over your body, eliciting soft sighs and moans from you. Natasha watched, her own desire burning but also noting your every reaction, every quiver of pleasure.

Wanda leaned in, her breath hot against your ear. "Do you feel that? How my magic envelops you, making every touch feel like fire?" You could only whimper, your body arching into Wanda's touch. Your body arched and writhed, your moans growing louder as Wanda pushed you closer to the edge. Her lips found your neck, her teeth grazing the delicate skin, sending shivers down your spine. My Top 12 Favorite Anime of 2023 (and more)!

This was a great year for anime, so here's a long list of my top 12 (including some bonus great anime). If you get tired of clicking the review links, check out my anime overview collection for all of them here.  You can also check out my list of favorite manga here!

Some of these are ongoing, so consider those only a review of the first cour-- no official endorsement on the rest because it hasn't aired yet!

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury (Season 2)

When I listed G-Witch in last year's top anime list, I prayed the show wouldn't betray me. Fortunately, it didn't! Though the final half of the show was a bit rushed, it remained must-see, compelling sci-fi full of exciting twists and turns. And I adore the well developed romance between the robot-piloting protagonist and precious girl, Suletta, and her fierce fiancé, Miorine.  Whether you’re here for starcrossed queer lovers, robots wrecking each other, tense battles between opposing political factions, or morally-horrifying moms on a revenge spree, you’re in for a treat.

Yuri is my Job!

Hime is roped into working at a cafe where the waitresses playact as students of the fictional all girl’s school from a beloved novel series. However, Hime finds her co-worker, Mitsuki, has an inexplicable grudge against her. Thus begins a tangled web of romance and wounded feelings among the girls in the cafe! Yuri is My Job seems like a fun comedy boasting a cast full of quirky lesbians, but then reveals itself to be a complicated and fascinating examination of performance- as it intersects with queerness, girlhood,  and the desire to be “likeable” and “cute". It's top-tier lesbian drama full of fraught relationships and it's absolutely worth a watch.

The Apothecary Diaries (still ongoing, review is for the first cour)

Though it's still going, I have to sing the praises of this dazzling anime about a saavy apothecary who uses her medical expertise to solve the many murders and betrayals in the Emperor's palace. MaoMao is a fantastic lead, a poison-obsessed gremlin who's whip-smart, deadpan, and fun to follow. The Apothecary Diaries has intrigue, well-developed characters, and an impeccable atmosphere. It tells a great range of stories, from romantic triumph, to bittersweet tales of recovering from grief, to pure tragedies. I'm totally hooked.

The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady

When Euphie is dumped by her fiance at a ball, the oddball princess Anis rescues her.  Euphie becomes Anis' assistant in her quest to develop magical tools. The girls also start to develop feelings for each other, while discovering a conspiracy among the nobility. I'm always desperately in need of cool lesbians having action-packed fantasy adventures, and Magirevo delivers. The characters grow in entertaining ways, we get to see them fight dragons in killer action scenes, and the romantic development is completely satisfying. It's a simple story at its core, but the lovable characters, joyous queerness and jubilant execution make it a great watch.

Birdie Wing: Golf Girls' Story (Season 2)

In the second season of the anime about girls homoerotically golfing while dealing with the mafia and ludicrous family drama, Birdie Wing remains a bombastically absurd sports anime that is fun all the way through. Please come watch these girls get ridiculous sports  injuries, scream their super golf attacks, experience extremely extra plot twists--and be super gay with each other, of course. The finale didn't go quite as hard as I wanted (and the romance is more subtexual than I wanted), but you need to allow yourself to experience the madness of Birdie Wing.

Skip and Loafer

An endearingly dorky, earnest, and driven girl moves from her small town to Tokyo. While she struggles to adjust, she befriends a nice popular boy who's got some baggage. Skip and Loafer is a show that’s like a warm hug. It's sweet, entertaining and funny. It handles adolescent struggles with tender nuance. There's a emphasis on kindness, connection, and looking past stereotypes and misconceptions. It also includes a trans character who's treated with respect (and is a great character in general!) Let this show touch your heart.

Undead Murder Farce

An immortal woman has had most of her body stolen by a mysterious man. Reduced to a head carried around by her maid, she teams up with a half-demon man to track the thief down while solving supernatural mysteries all across Victorian England.

This a fun, campy mystery series starring three asshole weirdo protagonists,  it’s bursting with supernatural creatures and literary references. We've got Sherlock Holmes, The Phantom of the Opera, Carmilla and more...along with a vampire murders and werewolf drama galore. UDM is a wonderful romp with stylish, slick direction... and it’s unexpectedly really gay.  I’m aching to see more of these scrappy misfits and their adventures.

Migi & Dali

A story of twins who are pretending to be one kid in order to fool their foster parents and find out who killed their mother. It starts out as an utterly absurd comedy becomes a impressive and genuinely tense murder mystery that is incredibly moving at times, all while keeping up it’s signature brand of goofiness. There’s genuine commentary on abuse, the damage you can do to children by forcing perfection on them, the struggle of being a foster kid, grief and recovery and more. There's also some great character development. It's a weird one, but it's absolutely worth sticking with.

Pluto

Somebody is killing the most advanced robots in the  world and murdering humans alongside them. A robot detective is trying to track this killer down, but he might be compromised as well. Pluto is a tense, tense, tightly plotted robot murder mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Through robots, it explores the idea of being a tool in a corrupt system, and tackles subjects like war, imperialism, and the nature of hatred. It's a masterful psychological thriller with stunning animation and a rich story.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off

This anime approaches the story of Scott Pilgrim and Ramona's seven evil exes from a brands new angle, and the results are great. We get a exploration of relationships and regrets, the messiness of communication and connection, the trials of becoming an adult, all with the signature goofy video game antics. Characters neglected in previous iterations finally get their due, new facets of the story are explored, queer relationships are delved into more, girls kiss...and it's all accompanied by phenomenal animation and a killer soundtrack.

Soaring Sky! Precure

Sora lives in a world called Skyland and wants to be a great hero. When rescuing the kidnapped baby princess, she falls through a portal to earth. There she meets her fellow magical warriors, and as Precure they protect the princess from the villains!

This vibrant, warm-hearted adventure got me back on the Precure train! This series boasts a lot exciting firsts for the franchise--the first official male cure, the first main cure that's eighteen years old- but above all, it has a lively team of characters with who have an entertaining dynamic and enjoyable individual journeys. It's often very funny, the baby has a surprisingly good character arc, and it's bursting with magical girl (and boy) goodness! It's also not afraid to give you an emotional gutpunch when you've been lured into a false sense of security by all the fun times. If you're new to Precure, this is a great jumping on point, and if you've watched it before, this is a series you won't want to miss.

I'm in Love with the Villainess

Rae is reincarnated as the heroine of her favorite dating sim. But she has no interest in romancing any of the boys- she’s head over heels for Claire Francois, the snooty villainess.

Villainess may not be as polished--storywise or animation-wise-- as these other entries. It's a messy series, it has plenty of problems...but it's also very fun, and it touched my queer little heart like no other. Queer people get to indulge in our imperfect faves too, and the silly shenanigans, blatant lesbian wish fulfillment, honest advocacy for queer people, and the joy and earnestness of the series works for me!

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (still ongoing, review is for the first cour)

Frieren is a long-lived elf who was once part of an adventuring party that saved the world from the Demon Lord. But now her friends are passing away and the world is moving on. She decides to retrace her old party's journey so she can understand what she's feeling.

Frieren is both an interesting examination of what happens after the hero saves the world, as well as a meditation on mortality, grief,  and the endless march of time. It takes you on a quiet, beautiful and sometimes touching journey though a pastoral fantasy world. There's some breath-taking animation and excellent atmosphere to enjoy.

Spy x Family (Season 3)

Spy x Family is pretty much staying the course from when we last checked in,  though this season gives a lot more attention to Yor, and I love the cruise ship arc and all the ridiculous fights she gets into a lot! That arc contains some of my favorite gags of the series too (like Loid’s  attempts to be a cool dad). Otherwise, Spyfam has settled into a series that intends to be around for the long haul, so don’t expect too much forward plot momentum. And Yuri (the man, not the genre) unfortunately still exists. Overall it was good season and remains a fun  adaptation. Yor, please step on me.

So we all know that gem and pearl together is a force to be reckoned with. They have intimidated everyone on the server and rightfully so, they do not only have the bark but also a giant bite.

Now pearl. Pearl alone has so much potential.

She uses something that hinders her performance to her advantage, that thing is her ping.

She has the skill and strategy to solo half of the server if she went rabid again.

And that's the thing. She won't go rabid. She's kind and patient. Pearl has a potential that she couldn't show due to her loyalty and kindness.

Now you see, gem does not have a problem like that.

She's ruthless and blood thirsty whenever she feels like it. She is a leader, someone to look up to in a war. Gem brings the worst in pearl. She tells her things. She tells her to kill, to chase, to hunt. And pearl listens. She listens well.

Gem without pearl is like a warrior with nothing to fight with and for.

Pearl without gem is like a weapon without a wielder to protect and assist.

Gem knew. She knew that if she had gotten her hand on pearl she could rule the server alongside a witch with undying loyalty.

Pearl just wanted to be friends with gem because she was fun :3 she's silly like that

They've set plans, and strategies to defeat the enemy together. But before they know it, They've become each other's enemies.

Pearl asked gem

“gem. You don't want to do this, right…?”

And gem told her with a heavy heart. Knowing that there's no way that they could be together without betraying their day one alliances.

“No. I don't…”

gem ran away, feeling disappointed and betrayed as someone that promised to be her friend had attacked her without warning.

But before they could finish their conversation. A MASSIVE F[redacted]G C[redacted]T SHOT AT GEM. MAKING THEM FLEE. NICE JOB JOEL. (/Lh I love Joel beans)

And pearl, The weapon. Does what she does best and started to attack whoever her allies targets. Like a loyal wolf.

And being betrayed by pearl. That's something that happens once in a millenia.

She hid in her cherry peak as the mounders surrounded them. Gem sees pearl in the distance, stalking thought the forest to find a prey, and they locked eyes. Yet weirdly enough, none of them opened fire. Or even pulled out their bow.

They just shook their head at eachother as a symbol of peace and alliance. Friendship. Because that's what they were, they didn't want to kill eachother, they did not want to hurt one another. but their alliances. They forced them to do so. And they did, out of loyalty.

At that moment gem panics and jumped across the trees to tell both of them to stop shooting. But Scott just ignored her pleas and kept on going. Giving pearl no other option but to retaliate.

They stood their ground, looking at eachother with looks of pity before Scott pushed gem out of the way and shot at pearl. (GREAT JOB, SCOTT. 😡) She dodged before firing back at Scott.

Pearl told gem that she cannot stop what she is doing. But also that she does not have the heart to harm her either. She only wanted the Scotts.

Pearl went deeper into the inner walls of the scottages and was pummeled by arrows, yet she still presisted. impulse died without warning.

Shortly after she heard the yells of her allies and sprinted towards them. But she was too late for Scott and gem had killed them both.

Gem had thought. Maybe. Just maybe if she did not have her allies, she does not have her loyalty. And that she might join them.

Because gem knows that she could beat her. She knows that for a fact.

As she searched through the middle of the battlefield Scott ran up to her and started yelling at her to kill him. To take his heart and to not lose without a fight.

Without any other option she just did it. She stabbed him, gaining his hearts. And shortly after. Pearl came.

Not alone though, like she has hoped. She was with scar

Without any second though pearl shot at gem without mercy. Something that if un-character like of her. Pearl told her “dont make me do this, gem.”

I'm wich gem replied. Without sending her any arrows. “im not making you do anything! Why are you doing this.” as she ran away from them

Pearl chased after her. Though yelling “i don't know!”

Gem asked her “we’re friends! Why?!” and pearl repeated herself. “i don't know!!”

When they met again, pearl has not attacked gem. She tried to talk to her. To megotiate, anything that would mean not killing her. But before she could do that scar had jumped in and attacked gem again.

And what does a weapon do when given a target? They attack. So pearl ran in with her sword. And quite literally stabbed gem in the back.

Killing her.

Pearl got a wielder in the end. And it was not gem.

It was scar

Finally got around to reading Witch Hat Kitchen's chapter 51, which will one day be a part of volume 6 hopefully. Anyway I wanted to share my favorite panels, because there's some cute character close-ups:

One of Olruggio's many great features is that he's shorter than most of the other adult men we meet in the series. If Qifrey is 5'10" (according to the Shirahama Twitter Spaces notes), then Olruggio would be a couple shorter.

But because there's some detail inconsistencies, he's not always drawn that way, especially in Kitchen. And I get it, sometimes the mangaka/(assistants?) forget. Sometimes it's just easier to make characters the same height, especially if the focus is on their matching or contrasting expressions, which Kitchen loves to do.

But WHAK ch 51 finally highlights my favorite Olly height fact, and in the best framing possible. See, Olly isn't just shorter than Qifrey... He's eye-level with Qifrey's mouth.

Which is G R E A T - I'm f i n e, and I definitely never read too much into this At All-

but I also appreciate it when the paneling is framed so that Qifrey's hair extends beyond the top of the panel, while Olruggio is drawn with space above his hair -- it's a nice way to imply the height difference while still keeping their facial features level.

It’s not that Franky is jealous of Zoro. Franky is a thirty-six-year-old cyborg with a wealth of life experiences, and Zoro is a nineteen-year-old swordsman with just a couple of (admittedly large) adventures under his belt. Franky’s a man, and Zoro is still just a kid; exactly the kind of troublemaker that, under different circumstances, he might have brought into the Franky Family fold. The idea that Franky might be jealous of him is patently ridiculous.

It’s just, well…

Here’s the thing. Franky spent over a decade being the leader of the Franky Family, the guy that everyone called ‘Big Bro’ because he had a talent for finding snot-nosed street punks and looking after them, just like a real big brother would. He’s always liked that title, because it feels very apt; Franky’s never considered himself quite responsible enough to fill the role of a father figure, but a big brother? Big brothers get to be a little (or a lot) wild and crazy, so long as they’re still around to help the younger siblings that need them. And that’s exactly what Franky did for over ten years before he agreed to join the Straw Hat crew.

Of course he knew that things were going to be different going forward; that he’d be a shipwright working under a captain instead of a boss in his own right, and that was just fine. Franky was totally prepared to defer to Luffy in that regard, because he could tell that Luffy was something special. But it’s become clear to Franky pretty quick that while every Straw Hat member trusts their captain implicitly and have arguably already followed him to the gates of Hell itself, they are also all in absolute agreement that Luffy is an idiot and definitely not the person they’re going to for help most often, at least not for day-to-day things. That responsibility falls largely on Zoro.

In theory it makes sense. Zoro’s the first mate, and first mates are supposed to pick up where their captains are lacking. But therein lies the conundrum. Because Zoro—at least as far as Franky can tell—is also an idiot. A serious idiot as opposed to a goofy one like his captain, but serious doesn’t equal responsible or even helpful. Franky’s been around the block long enough to know that, but unfortunately, it seems like he’s the only one.

Nami asks him for help with calculations for her navigational charts, even though Zoro can’t tell right from left half the time and calls her ‘witch’ every third sentence. Usopp asks him for assistance testing his gadgets, even though Zoro clearly doesn’t understand a thing he’s doing; Franky once heard him refer to a screwdriver as ‘the pointy thing that you twirl the screws with’. Sanji wants him there on supply runs and sometimes meal prep, even though he and Zoro are two seconds away from killing each other at any given moment. Chopper’s at least not dumb enough to try consulting with Zoro on medical stuff, but he follows the swordsman around as surely as any awestruck little brother, often squealing about how Zoro is so cool! 

Even Robin has gone to him for help with things on occasion, though for what, Franky can’t even begin to fathom. So he asks her, because at least Robin’s past the point of being the kind of punk ass kid Franky would have been trying to whip into shape not even two months ago, and Franky figures she’ll be able to shed some light on the situation. 

He instantly regrets it when Robin takes one look at him and then smiles devilishly.

“You’re jealous,” she says, and Franky sputters.

“I’m not jealous!” he insists, suddenly very glad that the cybernetics in his face prevent him from blushing. “I just don’t get it. You can’t tell me that you don’t think he’s an idiot.”

“Oh, he absolutely is,” Robin chuckles. “But he’s also… How did Nami put it to me once? Stupidly profound and profoundly stupid.”

Franky raises an eyebrow. “Profound?” he says skeptically.

“Mmm.” Robin takes a sip of her coffee. “I don’t quite understand it either, but try talking to him about a problem sometime and you’ll see what I mean,” she suggests, smiling at Franky over the rim of her cup. “You’d be surprised at how insightful he can be.”

Franky doubts that, but he can’t deny that his curiosity has been piqued. Which is why one night, when he goes to the galley for a cola refill and finds Zoro alone there cleaning his swords, Franky decides to give it a shot.

“Hey, Zoro-bro,” he says. “Can I ask you something?”

Zoro grunts, not lifting his gaze from his swords. Franky takes that as an affirmation and pops the top off his bottle of cola, taking a sip before he asks, “You ever feel like you’re not exactly sure what your role on the crew is?”

Zoro frowns. “Can’t say that I have,” he answers after a moment. Franky honestly expects that to be the end of it, so he’s a little surprised when Zoro adds, “Why?”

“Eh, I don’t know,” Franky lies, leaning back against the breakfast bar. “Guess I’ve just felt a little off-kilter since I joined up. Trying to figure out my place here, y’know?”

Zoro’s frown deepens. “What do you mean? You’re the shipwright, aren’t you?”

“Yeah, but besides that,” Franky says. At Zoro’s blank stare he continues, “You know, like how Chopper’s the doctor but also kind of the kid brother? Nami’s the navigator but also the annoying yet lovable younger sister? That kind of thing.”

Zoro clearly has no idea what Franky is talking about; the cyborg can practically see the gears straining behind his eyes. Still, to his credit, he does ask, “Well, what else do you want to be?”

Franky shrugs. “Dunno yet,” he says. “Back on Water 7 I was the ‘Big Bro’ of my ragtag family, but I can’t really do that here.”

“Why not?” Zoro asks, and Franky blinks.

“Uh,” he says, caught off guard. “Cause that’s your role, isn’t it?”

Now Zoro blinks. “It is?”

Franky stares at him. “Yeah dude,” he says. “Isn’t that why the others always go to you for help with stuff?”

Zoro’s forehead furrows so deeply that his eyebrows are nearly touching. “I thought they did that because I’m the first mate.”

“That’s exactly what I mean; you’re both,” Franky explains, honestly kind of shocked that he has to.

Zoro squints at him, still clearly not getting it. “Uh… okay. Sure,” he says slowly. “But why does that mean you can’t be a big brother too?”

Franky freezes with his soda bottle halfway to his mouth, blinking several times in rapid succession. 

“I…” he begins, and then stops, realizing that he doesn’t really have an answer to that. 

“You’d probably be better at it than I would anyway. Since I didn’t even know I was one.” Zoro shrugs and then after a mildly awkward pause, adds, “You’d definitely be better at helping Usopp with his gadgets than I am; I don’t mind listening to him but I’m not gonna pretend I understand any of that shit.”

He says all this with what Franky thinks is a surprising amount of sincerity, as though the prospect of sharing a big brother role really doesn’t bother him at all. Franky thought for sure that it would; Zoro’s got a competitive streak a mile wide, not to mention pride to spare. Pride usually goes hand-in-hand with ego, and all too often that leads to easy antagonism and sometimes outright hostility; Franky would know. He’s (usually) man enough to admit when he lets his own ego get the better of him.

Like now, for instance.

“Huh,” Franky says out loud. “Guess I hadn’t really thought of it like that.”

Huh, Franky says inside his head. Guess he is kind of stupidly profound after all.

There are areas designated as 'experiment' areas, and others as 'food safe' areas. Crossover, however, is bound to happen.

In a manner of speaking I'm dead by fellshish (T, 6,372 w., 1 Ch. || Halloween, Mystrade, Angst With Happy Ending, PIning, First Kiss, Drunk Idiots, Drinking Games, Humour) – Sherlock and John accidentally dress in matching outfits for Lestrade's Halloween party. Things only get worse: someone pushes them to play 'Never have I ever'.

A Beautifully Frightening Revelation by 221b_careful_what_you_wish_for (M, 6,486 w., 2 Ch. || Supernatural Elements AU|| Ghosts, Haunted House, First Kiss/Times, Frottage, Fluff, Halloween, Mutual Pining, Bed Sharing, Spooky) – John and Sherlock are investigating an isolated country manor haunted by a mischievous ghost. A series of spooky incidents brings them together in a candlelit bedroom, the night ripe for revelations and facing fears.

The Babadook by CatieBrie (T, 6,886 w., 1 Ch. || Babadook Fusion || Post-TRF, Horror, Demonic Possession, Violence, Halloween, Grief, Angst with Happy Ending) – “A children’s book,” John mutters as he flips it open. The pages are scrawled with beautiful charcoal lines and thick black ink. The cover, bright red, edges the open pages and something tugs at the back of John’s brain. It’s a familiar feeling, black and tarrish and thick in his thoughts. He shakes it off and picks the book up off his bed, turning so that he can sit on the edge and spread the book out across his knees. If it’s in a word or it’s in a look, you can’t get rid of the Babadook. He turns the page, ignoring the pressure building beneath his chest. There’s a closet on one page; paper doors meant to be opened by the reader flutter as John reads the text on the other page.

The Spirit Child by VelvetMace (M, 7,287 w., 1 Ch. || Psychological Horror, Disturbing Themes, Horror, Gore) – A small wooden box filled with clay and feotus bones yields more than just clues to a violent murder. A Halloween Story. Read at your own risk -- and I do not say this lightly.

Were it Well by merelypassingtime (G, 7,496 w., 6 Ch. || Shapeshifter AU || Crack, Halloween) – When moving in with the world's only consulting detective John is concerned he won't be able to keep his secret. Turns out he need not have worried.

In the Shadows of 221B by CarmillaCarmine (E, 8,299 w., 5 Ch. || Halloween, Friends to Lovers, Spooky Smut) – On a stormy, Halloween night, Sherlock appears changed, but John isn't about to complain about anything Sherlock wants to do to him. Part 10 of the The Stories of Angst and Heartbreak series

G Witch Onscreen Text: Episode 23

Welcome back to Part 24 of my Episode by Episode analysis of G Witch and its onscreen text! We're on Episode 23: Unrelenting Tenderness.

Before the opening sequence, we see this scene where Chuchu has to pilot the Demi Barding without the assistance of Permet Links. It's really difficult, and it makes sense if you think about it. Permet excels at evenly distributing and communicating information, such as, in this case, all of the functions of a mobile suit. Without that link, you basically have to pilot it taking all of the systems that the link previously handled for you into account. (Stabilization/Equilibrium are the most important ones that come to mind)

Of course, Chuchu quickly adapts, because she's just that good at it.

For these final 2 episodes, the OP changes once more, in that the mobile suit montage now depicts the attack on Quiet Zero, featuring Demi Barding, Calibarn, Aerial, the Gundnodes, and the Schwarzette. The final scene zooming in on Suletta's face has also slightly changed to show Permet Scars running along it, as she's now piloting Calibarn and not Aerial. (I've always liked how Demi Barding is shown engaging in combat in the montage considering that that. Doesn't happen.)

After we come back from the intro, we open on the Jeturk brothers' conflict.

Lauda demands to know why Guel never told him about what happened to their father, and he believes it's because Guel thinks he's unreliable. Lauda has always supported him and believed in him through all of their strife these past few months, but it seems to him now that Guel doesn't feel the same. He didn't tell him about their father, he abandoned him at the school, by all intents and purposes, he's shutting him out of his life.

But Guel insists that wasn't his intention. He truly cares about Lauda. He didn't tell him about their father because he wanted to protect him from the harsh reality that he had to face. It's like what Miorine did to Suletta. Leaving them behind and bearing the burdens themselves in the hopes that they can lead a normal life.

But in the end, all Guel was doing was hurting him, leaving him alone with his grief. Lauda needed his brother to be there for him and he simply wasn't.

You'll notice that in this scene, Guel is piloting his Dilanza instead of the Darilbalde. If you remember, during the duel with Shaddiq it exploded, presumably beyond repair. I brought it up before in Episode 17's analysis, but the Darilbalde can be seen as a representation of the brother's relationship throughout the series.

In Episode 4, after the duel, the brothers have a talk in front of the heavily damaged Darilbalde, a sign of their relationship becoming strained due to the influence of their father. (Top)

In Episode 17, the brothers talk in front of the Darilbalde again, newly repaired: A sign of their renewed bond. Guel has let go of his pride, and Lauda's support of his brother is still unwavering. (Middle)

But in Episode 20, when Lauda learns the truth of Guel having killed their father, the Darilbalde explodes, utterly destroyed, showing that the truth has left their relationship (as it once stood) irrevocably fractured. (Bottom)

Delling Rembran making use of the power of frustrating bureaucracy to buy time for the others. Thanks bozo. You ever think about how Delling never spoke to Suletta even once in the entire series.

When Suletta and Eri are arguing, I think a lot about how the examples she uses for why she can't forget about Eri and their mother are specifically about being able to comfort her when she's sad.

If you look back throughout the series, we never really see Prospera be sad or afraid around Suletta. She always maintains a calm, confident, cheery exterior around her. I think after Eri showed her the memory of Prospera crying over her body, and everything that happened at Vanadis, she came to the conclusion that her mother is doing all of this because she's deeply, deeply sad, and she wants to support her.

I think this sequence gives us a good look into Eri as well. The things Suletta describes are all physical. When she hears them, Eri looks down, deeply upset, because these are all things she wants to do too, but she can't, not as she is now. Quiet Zero seems to be the only way for Eri to be able to physically be with her mother again after decades of being trapped in an unfeeling machine. It makes sense why she wants the plan to succeed so badly.

Not to mention Prospera's face when she hears that. Just utter disdain. I wonder what her eyes look like under the mask in this scene.

When Eri prepares to destroy the capsule containing the team infiltrating Quiet Zero (Left), the framing is similar to when Eri first took someone's life in the Prologue (Right). But whereas before, she was a child who simply didn't know any better, this time there is murderous intent.

But before Eri can execute her intention, something interferes, causing the Data Storm and the Gundnodes inside it to destabilize for long enough to give the team time to escape. When this happens, Eri interrogates the suspect, asking to know why they're interfering, explaining that the Data Storm can give them everything they want. We learn later that this interloper, and the person Eri was talking to, is 4lan, who's Artificial Nervous System data was incorporated into Quiet Zero at some point.

I think a lot about these two, and the framing of both of these scenes. How Eri knows it's 4lan doing it, and how she tries to convince him otherwise, saying that the data storm can make both of their dreams into reality. I think about how 4lan died before knowing anything about Eri, but understands her situation when Suletta meets him again.

Maybe this is just wishful thinking, but I like to imagine that Eri and 4lan talked within Quiet Zero, and, both having had their lives cut short, Eri promised him that he could have a new life with her and Prospera in Quiet Zero's data storm once the plan succeeded. I think, if things were different, they could've been good friends.

After this, the Assembly League speaks to the head of the of the League Fleet stationed outside Quiet Zero, asking her to make use of the Laser Power Interplanetary Transmission stationed in Lagrange one to take out Quiet Zero (and, consequently, the Benerit Front). To this, the commander responds that making use of that laser would take out the entirety of where both are stationed, that being Lagrange 4.

They never really explain what a "Lagrange Point" is in the show, but the novelization actually explains it. Here's its definition:

The term refers to the gravitational equilibrium points between two celestial bodies — such as the Earth and the Moon. There are five points from L1 to L5, and because the energy required to maintain a fixed position in these areas is reduced, many fronts are concentrated there. Asticassia School of Technology is located at L4.

In simpler terms, a Lagrange Point is a point in space between/around two large celestial bodies where the gravitational pull of both forces causes smaller objects within them to stay put/(in the case of an orbiting body) follow along its orbital path.

In the case of G Witch, the Lagrange Points in question are the ones created between the Earth and the Moon. Here's a diagram of them.

(Correction: Thank you to @gomez-alonzo-addams for the correction! I mistakenly thought the Lagrange Points were those of the Sun-Earth System, but they're actually those of the Earth-Moon System, which are a recurring element of many Gundam Series starting from the original.)

The Fronts are artificial living spaces built in space, constructed into Asteroids. Since it takes less energy to maintain a fixed position around Lagrange Points, Fronts and other large living spaces are commonly built within them.

For convenience sake, I went ahead and organized many of the shows locations into their Lagrange Points. This isn't an exhaustive list, and I might have missed some, in which case please let me know and I'll correct them! It kind of stinks that we don't know which Lagrange Point Folkvangr was stationed at :(

Anyway, I really like how even O.Elan is kind of disquieted about Peil and the League Council's utter depravity here. He may love money and have a loose moral code but these guys are on a whole other level.

It's not necessary to document all this text, but according to the display, the infiltration team is headed for "Core Block C" to shut down QZ.

Cutting back to the Jeturk Brothers, their final clash is much the same as Guel's final clash with Vim. A full frontal assault with sword weapons. Both clashes' climactic moment even end with one stabbing the cockpit of the other.

Before, Guel won out against his father because he was afraid to die, but against his brother, he deactivates his sword and takes the full brunt of Lauda's attack, unafraid to die if it means his brother will stop piloting the Schwarzette.

It seems like history will repeat itself once again, but luckily Felsi was there to save the day! Everybody say Thank you, Felsi.

When Miorine and Bel access the Quiet Zero's main console and attempt to input the shutdown code, they input 4 codes:

Miorine inputs "quod erat demonstrandum" (top left) first, a latin phrase meaning "what was to be shown," or "which was to be demonstrated." It's usually shortened to the acronym Q.E.D, and placed at the end of mathematical proofs or philosophical arguments to indicate that the paper is complete.

After that is rejected, Bel inputs "Quod Erat Demonstrandum," (top right) which is. Exactly what Miorine just typed but capitalized. It is obviously also rejected.

After that, Prospera appears, and when Bel begs her to stop, Prospera explains why she can't:

"Eri is the child blessed by Vanadis' ideals, yet there isn't a place for her in this world. So I'll have to make one. A place where Eri can be happy."

At this, the next code Miorine inputs that gets rejected is "quod erat faciendum," (bottom left) a latin phrase traditionally placed at the end of geometric constructions, meaning "which had to be done."

Frustrated, Miorine demands to know if Prospera cares about Suletta at all, to which she responds:

"I do love her, but now she has friends like you."

Seemingly in response, the terminal rejects the final code we see Miorine input, that being "quod est absurdum" (bottom right), meaning "which is absurd."

Isn't that nuts? These codes only appear onscreen for mere frames and they still put in the effort to make them responses to Prospera's arguments. Or maybe, seeing as how they're meant to be placed at the end of arguments, perhaps they're meant to represent Prospera's final thoughts on the things she's saying. Either way, isn't it amazing that they put in the effort anyway?

If this post wasn't already thirty miles long perhaps we could spend more time here, but alas! I think it's cute that Notrette's icon is a tomato. The fact that her code is in Quiet Zero makes you wonder how far along they were on the project when she died. I guess we'll never know. Thank you anyway, Notrette.

The things a mother will do for her child. I think it's really powerful how in this moment, Prospera is willing to kill the love of Suletta's life for Eri's happiness, while at the same time, even from beyond the grave, Notrette was willing to give up on her lifelong ambition for Miorine's.

After QZ is shut down, the error on the main display (left) says:

Warning Security malfunction - Complete system shutdown imminent

Data storm space dissipated - Data storm space is contracting - Data storm destabilized across all domains

On the right, the Quiet Zero Monitoring Console simply says "All functions disabled" when its systems are fully infiltrated and shut down.

I love Prospera's expression here. The sheer vitriol in her eyes. The daughter of the man who stole her family from her, and the same girl who's stealing the last chance at happiness from her daughter is lecturing to her about family. I'd make that face too, to be honest with you.

I love the final look Eri gives Suletta as she blocks the laser's blast. She's proud of her.

Hi! By the time this posts, it should be well beyond the debut of the second series, so I hope you all are doing okay! I am ISO crossovers with small or obscure fandoms which might be more difficult to search. I enjoy recs from popular crossovers as well! But sometimes there’s only one fic in a category which can get buried, and I’m specifically looking for that random good omens- tiny-fandom crossover where someone picks up one of their obscure old fav and creates something exciting with their love for good omens. Hello! This was actually a lot of fun to search for! There's no 'easy' way to do it, but if you want to go hunting yourself I recommend using AO3 to filter out the popular crossover fandoms by adding them to the 'tags to exclude' list and just browsing through what's left. These aren't all necessarily small fandoms, but they don't have loads of crossovers with Good Omens. I'm recommending these ones simply because they sound fun and I want to read them myself!...
