Your fingers squeeze at the muscles there, taut and stressed as he inhales deeply and takes another bite. “I can massage it if you want.” A beat, before you speak again. “Maybe you should ask Tommy if someone else can pick up your shift.”

He was nervous , he was excited and he was totally and utterly completely caught in the spell .  His mom was right all those years he thought the woman lost the plot he wish she could of told her she was right . Maybe he was jumping the gun but then again the woman he was currently going on a first date with could ask him to jump and he would ask how high .

“Well i  made reservations at  this new fusion fever  place it does a little everything so well i wouldn’t get the food wrong , then i have a little surprise after on the beach”. 

“ you aint planning on killing me right?” she teased . 

“ you never … your brother occasionally have thought about it” he chuckled . 

“ he’s a softy really  he gives you problems just tell him marley and me , that man got in such a fit of despair my mama almost few to san diego til we let him talk to our dog back home “ she giggled .

The moment the pulled up he was on his best game jumping out of the car so fast he stumble , slightly praying it was dark enough she didn’t notice as he went to the other side opening the door  holding his hand out  and escort her like the queen she was to the door .  even pulling her chair out once they were shown to the table he may of nearly pushed the matradee out of the way to do so but he’d tip the man on way out or not  .. maybe .  She had head turning moment she walked in and honestly as much as he hated it he didn’t blame them she was stunningly beautiful from the casual sweaters and jean shorts he’d seen her or the other outfits he’d seen her back when they were strangers  but now the white sundress had every part loving it .  her bright eyes and smile  he could see as his personal beacon calling him home every night ,  or  that voice of hers leading him like a siren  at sea .  he listened intently cementing everything she told him about herself in turn sharing  things about himself  from his favorite color  to his parents which was never something he shared on a first day but yet he told her stories of his mom and ones he could remember of his dad . she told him stories of what it was like having jake as a big brother and  one thing he could never argue with was that hangman did love his family . she was the youngest of the five sisters and well seven kids in total which in turn he joke if her parents needed a tv but honestly if she wanted twenty kids he would give them to her. 

“ hey they kept going til they got perfection” she smirked that sarcastic side he could only imagine how much it irritated jake giving he  was the same. 

 “ i don’t doubt that at all “ he winked . 

“ honestly i’m surprised there isn’t little seresin out there with that hound dog i call a brother” she snorted . “ sure they’re are in texas but none are jakes “ she smiled .

“ sometimes but i like it here , plus it not too far away i mean a day or less car trip if i’m really feeling homesick  plus jakes here so it  makes it less lonely and makes my mama sleep better and my papa not driving up check on me all time “ .

Once desert was finish and he left a big tip and paying before she could even see the bill hit the table he once again escorted her to the bronco opening the door and even putting the belt on for her jesus even the sent of her perfume had him so intoxicated in her .  with check that the beach plan was a go before he got in the driver side  . what he didn’t expect was the moment he sat down ready to turn was her lips to peck his cheek. One simple action and he was short circuiting  needed a moment before he even started the car. The whole car ride they talked more possibly more than she ever did on a first day . bradley brooster radley had her talking of anything and everything and  he was actually listening . the whole time he was a perfect gentlemen she almost thought she was dreaming . never had she ever been treated in such a way. She had hard time not swooning and keeping her cool most of the  time . he was nothing she ever met before . honestly she noticed him back everytime she would pass him it was likes something out of a movie and many time she was thinking of saying something but he was gone by time she could and honestly night she tired in the hard deck but jake pushed her out the door before she could get more out of her mouth and then her chance she took it that first time in the cafe honestly she was bucket of nerves and then well now here she was having the best date of her life and hope there would be more . 

Pulling to the hard deck her head tilted in confusion she could of sworn he said the beach as he got out opening her door and unbuckling her belt . this time when he took her hand she intertwined their fingers it was cute even in the night she could see the red on his cheeks or how wide his smile was . they walked near the entrance of the hard deck only to turn as then she seen it just at the back and indeed on the beach the  light that led them down to were a blanket sat on the sand  along with a  basket and what looked like a speaker sat waiting and flowers more specifically her favorite . 

“ your brother may have help but didn’t think i’d have a first date and not get the most beautiful girl i’ve ever seen flowers “ he smile picking them up and handing them to her . 

“ shit are you even real “ she gasped still in awe taking it all in .

“Well i remember  you told me your favorite thing was to watch the stars  so what’s better then watching them on a beach with the sounds of the waves  but i was hoping you would dance with me first he tapped his phone as her mouth fell open . “ ok jake might of helped with that too “ he smiled shyly as sound of la vie an rose played .  “ so would you care to dance” he held his hand out .

Hai, so I've been working on, as weird/cringe as this might sound, a OC for On Borrowed Time, and was wondering, is there any particular rhyme or reason behind how OBT characters look

On the same topic, do the names have proper meaning behind them, like Dielle, Malachi, any particular reason that's the name you landed apon, or was it random chance?

// Aw, not weird and cringe at all! I find it very flattering. The design philosophy of OBT characters has morphed over time as my own artistic preferences have changed- early designs for the comic favored features that I personally enjoyed (fluffy mammals, spiky dragon-y reptiles, white scleras and human-ish eyes). You can see this in Rune and Dielle, for example!

As I've continued my journey through art though, I've found I appreciate a lot of the canon designs of pokemon. When new characters are introduced, you may find that they stick closer to their canon designs, since I now have an easy time drawing them.

As a little drawing exercise, I even drew Rune and Dielle in a style closer to canon recently!

And honestly... I kinda prefer it! But their designs in the comic are pretty cemented at this point, and I still enjoy them even if they aren't 100% my preference anymore.

The other part of OBT's designs are that they have a notable feature- which will usually be either clothing or hybridization. Again, Dielle is an example of the latter (hence why her outfits are pretty sparse), and my general idea is to not clutter designs with too many elements that the species of the pokemon is completely unrecognizable. This is also why OBT doesn't (often) accept true fusion cameos- as far as OBT's worldbuilding is concerned, actual 50/50 hybrids are pretty much unheard of! Every pokemon has a base species they belong to, though they can have traits of another parent species.

Where the standout part of their design is the cool clothes they wear. In general I've also been trying to make more of an effort to have more purebred designs show up in OBT, though mileage varies there haha.

As for names, they're mostly selected just based on if they sound nice for the character in question! I'll occasionally look up name meanings as a sort of tiebreaker, but mostly I go off of the list I talked about in this ask here when I'm in need of a name!

THE DEATH OF CLEOPATRA /1659-63/ by GUIDO CAGNACCI

The painting represents the last active ruler of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt, Cleopatra, in her last moments following her suicide. She is portrayed as calm and serene, in a resigned state, after being bitten by an asp. It is a representation that gives way to the structural evocation of tragic beauty and nobility at her last moments.

Cagnacci applies a very dynamic composition for this dramatic moment. The queen is reclined, and all around are her attendants in expressive gestures and facial expressions, creating the feeling of urgency and tension.

The coiled asp on Cleopatra's arm symbolizes death and, at the same time, the power of choice in her suicide, cementing Cleopatra's death not as a tragic end but as a courageous act of defiance. The rich colors and textures of the fabric and skin demonstrate to a great extent the sensuality and tragedy of her character.

The chiaroscuro, a great contrast of light and dark, elicits Cleopatra's vulnerable state and stresses just how much the scene is intense. Her face almost seems to be a fusion between the emotions of resignation and anguish. It is the severe psychology of the last moment in her life that Cagnacci seized, the emotional status more than the simple fact of dying.

Hello esteemed mutual. If you are reading this, then that means my propaganda is working. But you might still have questions, so I am here to answer them. And also, it is my duty to report back on it, because this game was chosen by you, my mutuals. It shows that democracy is still valuable in 2024, despite the world trying to prove us otherwise.

What is Cassette Beasts?

Cassette Beasts is a monster taming/creature collecting game developed by Bytten Studio. You play as the Player (who obviously can be named), who washes up on the shore of an island called New Wirral, which is located in a different dimension. There's only one issue: there is no way home. People from all different worlds and times end up in New Wirral and no one knows why. Another interesting thing is that New Wirral is inhabited by all kinds of monsters, but luckily, humans have found a way to beat them. These monsters are recordable and you can copy them to cassette tapes. Humans then use these cassette tapes to turn into a copy of those monsters, allowing humans to fight wild monsters and battle other humans.

The Player has to adjust to life on New Wirral, but is certain that there must be a way home. Together with their new friend Kayleigh, they go to investigate and learn that there are bosses called Archangels, and defeating them might lead to a way home. During your journey, you meet a lot of different Partner characters with their own storylines, and you are able to explore the open world of New Wirral.

What makes this game so different from others in the genre?

I'm going to be upfront: I don't have a lot of experience with creature collection/monster taming games. I have only played Pokémon, Ooblets, and also Persona. For Persona the creature collection is only a part of a bigger game, and in Ooblets you dance battle against the creatures in order to grow them in your garden. So yeah, I can only compare it to those.

I think the thing that immediately cements this as something different from Pokémon is that this game focuses a lot on the bond between humans, not between humans and monsters. That's not to say that you cannot get attached to your tapes (I did), but YOU turn into the monsters. As a result, monsters don't have their own levels, they instead take on the Player's level. This, to me, was game changing! This means that basically every tape is useful, no matter when you recorded it. Oh, you recorded a level 01 Traffikrab in the beginning of the game? Well, if you're level 80 at the end of the game and use that tape, you bet your ass Traffikrab is level 80 as well. This also makes it more exciting to actually record all the beasts in this game (which I did, I finished yesterday!)

BY THE WAY, did you know that once you're in the process of recording a monster, it cannot be killed! Gone are the fears of accidentally killing the monster you want to catch! Recording in general is more advanced than just throwing a tape at them and hoping for the best. There's strategy to it. You'll see. You will want to catch 'em all.

Which leads me to the second cool part: remastering. When your tape reaches 5 starts, it can be remastered (aka evolved) into a better tape. Not all tapes can be remastered, but some beasts can only be found through remastering! Not only that, but some tapes have branching paths as well, where a tape remasters into a certain monster depending on the time, moveset or an answer to a question.

And that leads me to another core feature of Cassette Beasts: fusions. Every monster has the ability to fuse with another monster. The devs say that this means that there are around 14.400 fusions available in this game, and that's not even accurate, because this number doesn't include the new monsters added in v1.2, v1.5 and the DLC! And the number is even higher if you take into account that EVERY SINGLE MONSTER has the ability to be a bootleg. A bootleg is basically a shiny, so it has a different colour scheme, but it also impacts the typing of the monster and they have a chance of getting better moves. There are 14 types (more on that later), which means that technically every monster can have 14 variants, which lead to differently typed fusions as well. Bro. What the FUCK.

Fusing monsters makes you more powerful, but it also means you only get one chance to act per move, instead of two. Fused monsters merge their stats and movesets, and they generate more AP per turn. AP is the amount of points you need to use a move, like of like PP in Pokémon.

AP? Moves? Moves take the forms of stickers that you put on your tapes. You can peel and replace those stickers whenever you want. Not all stickers are compatible with all monsters, though, and the more stars your tape has, the more sticker slots it has. Yup, your movesets are customisable. Neat.

And remember those 14 types? They are: water, earth, fire, air, beast, astral, ice, lightning, metal, plant, plastic, poison, glass and glitter. Yes, they're neat. Instead of having classic type advantages and disadvantages, types are all about buffs and debuffs. These are based on reality. For example, a fire type attacking an air type creates an updraft, buffing the air type. An ice type attacking a water type turns the water type into another ice type by freezing it. A lightning type attacking a metal type makes the latter conductive and vulnerable to extra damage from electricity. A poison type disturbs an astral type by attacking it, turning the astral type beserk. And so on, and so on. You can take advantage of this by also changing your types in battle with certain moves, but the enemy can also force you to change types. It's a whole thing, man.

This game is also made for people who love the genre. Once you finish the main game, there's a big post-game, but also an option to create a new custom save file with a permadeath mode (like a nuzzlock), or with randomised monsters or randomised types or randomised moves. It's a reason people come back to it.

Wow. Okay. That's a lot.

It is. Luckily, you can reread all tutorials in game in your Ranger Handbook. It even has a type chart! And there's the official wiki with a lot of information (and a lot of mathematical formulas).

But yeah, this game is massive, not only gameplay wise, but also storyline wise. You have the main story of getting off the island, but as I said, all playable NPCs (Partners) have their own storyline too (like fighting landlords or finding a lost brother). Then there's a "gym leader" type of storyline, where you take on Captains who are spread around the overworld, and there are a lot of side quests and rumours to follow up on.

And this is all in a decently sized open world. You do need to unlock overworld abilities that make exploration much easier, and the game has to load in the rest of the world at times. But yeah there are NPC battles and caves to be explored and chests to be opened. There are overworld puzzles to figure out! It IS a lot.

Where can I play this?

Cassette Beasts is available on PC and Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The wiki says it's also coming to mobile, but be honest with me, why would anyone buy a non-mobile game on mobile, especially something as extensive as this? Nah.

Can we play together?

Yup! I think it's cross-platform, but don't quote me on that. I haven't played multiplayer yet, so I cannot talk about it, but I know there are some exclusive features there. I think.

Is there DLC?

Yup, the Pier of the Unknown DLC adds a new area to explore, a new quest, new bosses, new monsters (so in turn also new fusions). I thought it was just fine. It adds some lore and all that, but it's just fine. I don't think I would've missed it if I hadn't bought it on sale. I recommend it if it's on sale.

Are there German characters in Cassette Beasts?

Given the fact that the inhabitants of New Wirral can come from all over the universe, it's possible there is someone from Germany residing on the island. But no, none of the playable NPCs or supporting cast is German.

I can say quite confidently that my favourite arc in Bungou stray dogs is the Cannabalism arc.

The stakes are frighteningly high.

Akutagawa acknowledges and tells Kyouka he's happy for her. Kyouka makes peace with her Port Mafia past.

Junichiro cements himself as a hidden badass. Kunikida in the role of interim President. The way Ranpo takes control and the Agency amicably splits up.

Katai being an important character and aiding in the investigation.

You know what, y'all are getting this essay now.

Metroid Fusion is a game about being transgender and being haunted by the idea of who you could have been/who you were, and Metroid Dread is about abusive and neglectful family and being prosecuted for factors outside of one's control.

This will have spoilers for Metroid Fusion and Metroid Dread.

In the intro to Fusion, Samus Aran is working with a part of the galactic government, as a sort of freelancer. While on a mission, she is attacked by an amorphous alien lifeform which suddenly disappears after invading her suit. Later, while in transit, she suddenly loses motor functions and crashes her ship into an asteroid.

The lifeform, known as an X, had fused to her body, slowly killing her and destroying her from within. It was so deeply connected to her at that point that the doctors and scientists trying to save Samus were at a loss. They had removed parts of her suit hoping to quarantine the X and reverse the process, but it was deep in her central nervous system at this point.

As Samus' narration puts it:

By taking a sample of Metroid DNA and splicing it with Samus', her body was able to adapt and absorb the X. This was only possible because the X are describes as being of "nearly pure energy", and Metroid being creatures that absorb energy, are one of their only predators.

Now, what does that have to do with an allegory for being trans? Well.

Being Part Metroid is not a reversible process. And it's not without its problems. Metroids are naturally vulnerable to cold, and while Samus used to be able to handle at least close to arctic temperatures without her Varia Suit, she is now barely able to even handle research facilities in said areas. On top of that, her suit is now more deeply connected to her than it ever has been before. It saved her, kept her alive while the X tried to ravage her body, but now it is an inescapable part of her.

But, she had been given the ability to consume X parasites. Her body was now, in part, Metroid in nature. She had won against the X that sought to kill her.

This is the image that really cements it in my brain. Samus has become a different person. She was reborn as a hybrid of Human, Chozo, and Metroid. Samus, for her part, accepts this pretty quickly, even reflecting that her life up to this point was leading up to this. The Metroid DNA that saved her came from the infant Metroid that saved her way back in Super Metroid, after all.

(I could go into how the change has caused her suit to become softer, and slightly weaker, and how much of the outer plating of her suit has been lost, and how that plays into the theme of transition, but that feels a bit more tenuous of a connection.)

Now, let's move to the antagonist of Fusion.

Samus' old suit, the parts removed by the scientists to get to her, was quarantined on a space station. However, the X inside began to replicate Samus herself, until they had become a copy of her at the peak of her power, but devoid of any humanity. A killing machine.

This is referred to as SA-X.

(that reveal scene gave me nightmares as a kid)

Throughout Fusion, you're attempting to basically get Samus back to the level of power that she had, in order to contend with and defeat the SA-X. A lot of other things happen in this game, including the personhood of Adam(who needs his own essay tbh). But, the crux of the conflict is between the SA-X, who is imitating a previous version of Samus, and Samus herself, who is desperately trying to become the person she once was, again.

The final boss of Fusion is a Metroid, not any X imitation. Despite the conflict between them, the SA-X attempts to fight this Metroid, it's natural predator, but fails. With the SA-X's death, Samus reclaims some of power that she lost, by consuming what was left of it. But, she doesn't just become the person that she was. She is permanently changed, permanently A Metroid by any standards. There is no going back.

She has taken the remnants of who she was, accepted them, and become something new, something greater.

Then, we come to Metroid Dread. In it, Samus is tasked with figuring out if the reports of X existing on a planet. A series of robots were sent to take samples and figure out if this information was true, the Extraplanetary Multiform Mobile Identifier, or E.M.M.I. units. Of course, all of them disappeared shortly after reaching the planet, and couldn't be reached. So, they sent Samus, whose unique biology made her the only living thing in the galaxy capable of surviving an attack from the X.

Samus is, in this game, the last Metroid in existence.

In the end, it is revealed that the EMMI units were taken over and controlled by a Chozo called Raven Beak. This Chozo was one of the several who gave their DNA to Samus, and he calls her Daughter throughout the ending sequence of the game.

Raven Beak's goal is to take the Metroid DNA from Samus to create a new form of bioweapon using it. Which is, for those familiar to the series, the same thing that the government has done, like, three times. Hell, it happens in Fusion, too. (The Metroids in that portion aren't even hostile to Samus, as they recognize her as one of their own.) Raven Beak was also the cause of a major schism within the Chozo, between those who wanted to exist in harmony with the universe, and those who saw it as theirs by right of their power.

Despite calling her "daughter", Raven Beak sees Samus as a tool. A source of power that he has every right to harvest. He manipulates her and pushes her to near-death to bring out her Metroid instincts, which are to Consume and Kill. He helps her become stronger, but only to make her a more complete Metroid. In his mind, her destiny is to pave the path for his dominion and control over the galaxy.

Despite never being there for her, Raven expects Samus to give her life so that he can become all-powerful. He calls it "her destiny". The process that saved her from the X in Fusion ultimately endangered her, and it is only through accepting her nature as a Metroid that she is able to survive and triumph.

Because she was a Metroid, a change that she did not choose to make but that was needed for her to survive, she became a target for Raven Beak. She was hunted by the EMMIs for her DNA, and became a monster to survive.

(it did give us the Coolest suit Samus has ever had, but still. Traumatizing for her)

In the end, Samus is of course not sacrificed upon the altar of Raven Beak's power. She escapes, and narrowly so, thanks to another Chozo who had been taken over by the X but retained his lucidity, named Quiet Robe. By willingly giving himself to Samus, she is able to regain a more normal form, but it is clear that the events of Dread have changed Samus irrevocably.

Bismuth is recruited to Rose's cause, outfitting the Crystal Gems with weapons; she creates Rose's Sword

True to his word, Bill assists the Crystal Gems' cause by possessing Homeworld Gems, using them to shatter their comrades before forcing them to shatter themselves; Rose is largely unaware of this but over time, Pearl becomes suspicious of his motives

Over 5,000 Years Ago

The Beta Kindergarten is established mid-way through the Rebellion in haste to create more troops; Jasper is created among these troops

Bismuth presents Rose with the Breaking Point, a weapon designed to shatter Gems, specifically the Diamonds. Disagreeing, Rose poofed and bubbled Bismuth (upon Bill's suggestion), later storing her in Lion's pocket dimension

Pearl presents her worries about Bill to Rose; Rose attempts to contact Bill to set things straight but he refuses to answer her for unknown reasons; Realizing they're on their own, Rose and Pearl develop a last-ditch plan to save the earth

Pink Diamond and Pearl plan a ruse to stage Pink Diamond's shattering. Pearl, shapeshifted into Rose Quartz, "shatters" Pink Diamond by poofing her after she has swallowed fake gem shards

From then on, Pink Diamond permanently identifies herself as Rose Quartz and continues leading the Crystal Gems in the Rebellion

Pioneer William Dewey and the settlers accompanying him on the Oregon Trail to Gravity Falls are rescued from a gem monster by the Crystal Gems; however, Dewey is falsely hailed as the town hero due to a misunderstanding

In order to cover up the fact that President Trembley founded Gravity Falls (after he freezes himself in peanut brittle), Nathaniel Northwest deemed the founder of Gravity Falls and William Dewey is dubbed its first official mayor

Steven and Mabel fuse into Maven, escaping from shattering robinoids alongside a group of Off-Colors; during their attempt to steal a ship to escape, they are confronted by Emerald; ultimately, the Off Colors and Maven escape Homeworld on separate ships (Wanted)

Season 4 - Early July

Steven and Mabel return to Earth without Dipper; the Pines and the Gems immediately begin plotting on how to get him back from Homeworld; angry with Steven for what just happened, Connie breaks up with him (Within Without)

After being interrogated on "Rose Quartz" by Yellow Diamond, Dipper's left arm is cut off by Squaridot and her fellow engineers, officially beginning the "process" as he is placed under Hessonite's watch and into Amber's care

Tensions continue to rise between Stan and Ford and the Gems as Greg brings everyone along on a brief vacation to help everyone reset; Mabel and Steven have a brief falling out (Gemcation)

The Gems and the Pines begin repairing the damaged ship Maven used to return to earth in the hopes of using it to rescue Dipper

Yellow Diamond attempts to condition Dipper into serving her, but her efforts are resisted, forcing her to more extreme measures; during this time, Dipper and Amber begin to bond

With Amber's assistance, Dipper records a farewell message for his friends and family back on Earth

Unable to resist any longer, Dipper succumbs to the conditioning forced upon him by Yellow Diamond and becomes "Stonemason"; he is outfitted with a shapeshifting metallic arm and is sent to hunt down "Rose Quartz" and capture or shatter her

Work on the repaired ship is finished and, unable to wait any longer, Steven, Mabel, and Connie sneak off on it to try and rescue Dipper on their own; the untested ship ends up crashing on an alien moon (Spaced Out)

While on the Jungle Moon, Steven and Connie are separated from Mabel; Stevonnie has dreams about Pink Diamond's past; Mabel is encountered by Stonemason, who briefly uses her as a hostage until she is rescued by Stevonnie; the kids narrowly manage to escape on their damaged ship, which barely makes it back to Earth  in one piece (Jungle Moon)

After several more encounters with the Pines and the Gems, Stonemason begins to doubt his mission and questions his identity; those questions are quelled when Yellow uses the Diamond's Aria to condition him again (Lullaby)

Yellow Diamond commands Stonemason to attack Gravity Falls in order to lure "Rose" out; he does so, damaging much of the town and harming several civilians (Crash and Burn)

Maven goes off alone to search for Stonemason; upon finding him, they manage to briefly break through to Dipper, only for Stonemason to forcefully suppress him once more (Forever Together)

The Pines and the Gems receive Dipper's supposedly final message to them and are inspired to continue looking for a way to save him (A Final Farewell)

Steven goes into Stonemason's mindscape and finds Dipper, trapped and slowly fading away altogether; while in the dreamscape, Steven is briefly encountered by Bill, who offers to set (spoilers) (Hide and Seek)

After several violent encounters, Stonemason is captured by the Gems and the Pines; Steven, Mabel, and Connie enter his mind in a last-ditch effort to return Dipper to normal (Find the Key)

Little Intro

I plan on being very active on this blog so I think it's only fit that I give some background details, especially since I wish to interact with you all.

Im 28/M and yes this blog is very old but I wish to repurpose it for my love of the Metroid series. I have not been on Tumblr in a long, long time and have a laughable understanding of how this place works. All I know is that I love the series, Samus, and wish to have a place to centralize my passion. Other social media sites have proven to not be very good for that.

I first found out about Samus when I was very young in elementary school and would go over to my buddy's house to play Super Smash Bros with our gang of friends. We all has N64's but his house was where we had our weekend tournaments. I always played as Samus because I was always a mecha fan, played a lot of Halo: Combat Evolved on my computer at home, and Sci-fi armor was my thing from a very young age. I loved her power armor, and I was highly interested in the fact Samus was a girl. I was actually baffled when I found out Samus was a girl. It didn't make sense to me, all I knew is that she was amazing. I was pretty much in love, of course I wouldn't admit it to my friends.

I would watch videos of Metroid games on YouTube until I finally got my first Metroid game, Metroid Fusion. I loved it so much. I would spend hours on my GameBoy Advance just running around, not fully understanding how Metroidvania games really worked. I even played it a lot when i finally got an Advance SP. The game cemented my love for the Metroid series and Samus Aran. Even when we would play Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I was always sure to pick Samus.

Now we are years later and awaiting the release of Metroid Prime 4 Beyond. I spend my time playing Metroid Dread and Metroid Prime Remastered (PLEASE let them remaster 2 and 3!!!). I plan on posting a variety of content here. Artwork, in-game content, short stories, pics of my memorabilia, and whatever i can think of.

Conan of the Periphery: A BattleTech/Pulp Fusion World/Storybuilding Project

Well, y'all voted for this, so here it goes.

For reasons I don't quite understand, we mostly ended up discussing King Conan, and realized that we can't quite make the Canon version work, since there's no way for Conan to end up running a Successor State. So we decided on him making a new state in the Periphery. Which led to someone suggesting:

I'd suggest Star's End over the Marians anyways, because you have something that really matters (a JumpShip yard), and an environment that plays to the strengths of a Conan-style character; not so much civilized, but personal prowess is very important fighting across a thousand tiny fields of battle. Plus you get to have Susie Morgaine-Ryan draping herself across Conan's lap during the invasion, and she's absolutely a Conan character with her combination of vamping and stabbity.

So, this image, of Conan fighting the Clans with Susie Morgraine-Ryan draped across his lap became a centerpiece, and from there we decided on Aquilonia being formed from some combo of Star's End, the Barony of Strang, the Oberon Confederation, and and least some of the Chainelane Isles.

What we settled on is that Conan leaves Cimmeria, a marginal planet in the Periphery and begins a career as a wandering MechWarrior in the Inner Sphere in the 2950s, earning substantial fame and renown, etc. before settling down after semi-inadvertently carving out a kingdom for himself in the Coreward Periphery in the 2980s.

When the Third Succession War officially ends in 3025, he decides to retire, abdicating the throne in favor of his son Conan II (henceforth, Conn) and going exploring. Subsequently, Conn very much gives the FedCom a kick in the teeth after they decided Aquilonia becoming a bit to strong for their comfort. Nothing to major just a small raid that goes very wrong and the peace talks after have Conn cement themselves as a grand Statemen and a Ruler of the nation that demands as much respect as the other Major periphery nations do.

Meanwhile, Conan gets stuck in the California nebula and encounters something that slows, stops, or reverses his aging, and then somehow manages to contrive to escape with a Royal SLDF 'Mech that's been tricked out with weird CalNeb tech, and shows up just as the Clan Invasion gets started.

Aaand that's where we hit a wall.

So, ideally, I'd like to do two things:

-Backfill Conan's history.

-Figure out how the history of the Inner Sphere unfolds differently from the Clan Invasion onwards.
