My friend got a "response" to the whole splitting the Captain America tag bullshit and wow they just don't care. Literally twisting themselves in knots to justify inconsistent tagging and how they lazily shoved every fucking fic into the Chris Evans tag for no goddamn reason and saying this is actually for the Sam fans when this was never a fucking complaint. The timing is so bad too still. They didn't explain why it happened now instead of when Sam immediately became Captain America. He's been cap for years and you do this shit now? Love how they'd rather pretend they're helping us and try to make excuses so they don't have to exert effort fixing a problem they caused than actually acknowledging the structural racism they just created, whether or not it was intentional. Also? Splitting the Captain Marvel and The Marvels tag smells of bullshit too. They didn't split The First Avenger and TWS into different franchise tags. They didn't split Ironman 1 and 2 into different franchise tags. I wonder what the fucking common denominator is there, huh?

Sooooo I decided to check out Hunter Product's site to see if they had any updates on the Shibajuku reboot and...

Whitewashing across the board! Color me disappointed but not surprised. It would appear they're Walmart exclusive as well, so again I'm not sure who is ultimately to blame for deciding every single one of these girls needs to be pale AF. Though I'm going to go ahead and point the finger at the manufacturer, since--as is becoming my go-to comparison--Decora Girlz managed to get three different skin tones into a line of only four dolls, and Walmart is selling all of them.

I also find it extremely hilarious that at this late date they're STILL only advertising the Pullip-leaning illustrated mockups instead of posting photos of the actual dolls, even though you can find the latter on Walmart's website. Who are they trying to fool at this point??? And their only socials? LinkedIn and Youtube (no videos posted about the dolls, I checked). Almost as though they aren't interested in connecting with their customer base at all, or getting feedback on their lazy, racist dolls. Probably goes without saying, but--I'm suddenly finding myself way less inclined to purchase any of them 😒

I don't know why I had hope that they would give Nami somewhat realistic proportions and would make Ussop dark-skinned.

These designs -especially how they looked post time-skip - and the stupid pervy jokes are what made me stop watching the anime in the first place. If nothing is going to change, and in fact be worse with thier treatment of Black and dark-skinned characters (not even starting with a bit of melanin, and we don't even know what they plan to make the shandorians look like) they I'm probably going to end up waving my motivation to watch this remake goodbye. AND THAT SUCKS.
