THE ORDER OF PALMS An order of holy folk that serve The Helm, working to create powerful Aasimar Paladins for the purpose of protecting any who hire their help. [BACKSTORY UNDER CUT]
One day, Gjör and her peers were lead by their mentor Opheria, to a mission far from their home. On the peak of that mountain village, they saw upon the horizon, the castle of their home go up in flames. Horrified and scared, the apprentices sought to follow their mentors guidance, and followed her lead into a small barn. It was there, that Opheria proceeded to slaughter each and everyone of the apprentices. It seemed she somehow had a hand in this sudden attack on the Order of Palms. Gjör D'annevual survived a sword through the 'heart', on account of a rare condition, that places her heart on the other side of her chest. When she finally managed to bring herself back home, the Order was insulted by her survival. She had so many better peers, why couldn't any of them have survived? This runt was seriously the only thing that survived Opherias wrath? It was better to just wash their hands clean of this. Thus the Order decided to banish Gjör from their ranks. She now travels the land in search of a purpose.

Endeavor is almost a perfect allegory for what the society in the mha universe does to people who can't be heroes or use their quirks in a way to benefit society, which is cast them aside or pass them over without over giving them a second glance until uh-oh! Suddenly they're worth being noticed because they're a threat.
He apologizes to his family, which is good! If you're a bad person and did terrible things, the first step in your own transformation and atonement should be to acknowledge what you've done and to apologize to those you've wronged. Great!
Thing is, Endeavor set off a chain reaction with his abusive, neglectful and downright irresponsible choices that it damaged everyone in his family for life.
I don't think someone who causes one of their own children to literally go up in flames, crying because they're finally getting attention from their father and family in the very end, ever deserves to be forgiven.

watched uhh dorothy returns ro wizard of oz (2013) and i'd give it a 6.5/10 in general but entertainment wise i'd give it an 8.5 (tbf i was watching it with my brother idk how i'd rate it if i was alone) theres a part where they need a boat and dorothy snaps a piece of wood off a tree who yells in pain and then every tree there starts throwing rocks and acorns at her but then it cuts to a tree hunched over and hes like "take me... take me." and i csnt properly explain why it's so unbelievably funny. the line delivery makes him sound so accepting like he's really willing to die to help dorothy get a boat and i can't stop thinking about it
#also watched dino king. uh. 29 minutes in my brother and i thought it was gonna end soon so we paused and saw we still had an hour left#and we both visibly went HUH??? and i was like are we gonna power through this movie or watch khumba......and he chose to power through#for a dinosaur movie it's not bad i actually really like what they tried going for? ie using footage of real landscape and cgi-ing dinos#in it to make it seem like it's Real Life. obviously the cgi is so very noticable but they did pretty good👍🏼#when speckles (main character) fell into water instead of cgi-ing the water the dropped something irl but put his model over ir#which i find neat i didnt think they'd do that. kinda sad at the lack of blood when the dinos would kill each other#also speckles' family dies which i expected and when the timeskip happens and he finds a girl and then she dies i expected however i did no#expect them to kill two out of three kids like i'm glad junior survived but god damn after the first one died i was hoping the last two#would survive at the very least. also fuck one eyed i thought he was just survivng at first but no he literally started beef#with a one year old dinosaur baby and decided Yeah Im Gonna Ruin Your Life Forever Buddy#my brother and i when speckles finally kills one eyed: yoooo YOOOOOO#movie would have heen better with like 98% more blood but when they did sue blood they used both cgi and fake irl#which i'll admit was kinda cool#fuck you one eye i fucking hate you#ok anywaus we tried watching khumba but didnt bc it was getting late so we watched the first 20mins and then skipped to the end#i think it wouldve been a nice movie? i have no idea but i mean i didnt hate what i saw#if you guys rver wanna watch a movie just got to free with ads on youtube ive been obsessing over those for months now#btw dino movies are very boring to me i forgot to add that. so yeah dino king IS boring to me but i had fun

#vu's posts#disco elysium#so uh. heavy spoilers ahead in the tags. so if you haven't gotten very far in the game then stop reading this#...#ok now that spoiler-free people are gone. i need to ramble#by 'big encounter' i of course mean between the scabs and the hardie boys. just to give context#not long before the encounter though i finally met ruby. and that was also a tense situation. like my god#anyways. once i headed to the whirling i saw the whole thing start yknow#as soon as kim dropped a 'fuck' i was so Tense because like. he *never* swears. so i knew that things were gonna go down#i managed to pass both the rhetoric and suggestion checks.. somehow. but that didn't do anything in the end really.#i didn't ever find my gun so i was left on the defensive 😭 luckily i put on the chestplate... thing.#i'm pretty sure that that's what kept me alive tbh#i got hit with two bullets but like i said. the first one hit the chestplate. that took most of the damage there. my leg got hit though#AND i kept kim alive yippee! i have a hunch that he can die if you fail a certain check#(i.e. the one where you warn him about the guy behind him)#also i got a bonus on that check that said that kim *really* trusts me and... 😭😭#ok i think i got all my thoughts out! for now...#i also screen recorded the whole thing. thinking about sharing it tbh. who knows though#WAIT. one more thing. i am *so* shocked that kim made *that* shot. because yknow. he's got vision problems yeah?#like what a fucking badass. like hello#ok NOW i'm done. and i gotta go to sleep now 😂#va4 rambles in the tags

#rat rambles#oni posting#her icon does not do her justice she is so fucking cute#I fucking adore her#anyways ny thoughts on the new dlc are mostly positive so far although I do have some nitpicks#now to be clear to the fellow lore enjoyers in chat this is a fairly log light dlc unfortunately#which doesnt suprise me since god knows they don't like talking abt dupes too directly in the logs and this dlc is all abt the bionic dupes#which I see as a positive thing generally but I do wish there was a smidgen bit more to justify why they can be printed now#just an extra my log at the start that says woah I found some fancy robo guys in my printing database would have been nice#but other than that I do like the continuing tensions between gravitas and the vexus institute brewing#and I also like the pronoun confirmation on jackie's probably mom I'm glad we're seeing more of her#Im also glad theyve so far had jackie say jack shit abt her probably mom and her going ons I hope it mostly stays that way#I'm open to getting some of jackies words on the family drama but I want it to be shown not told#so like idk. maybe a conversation between them or smth. and keep it vague and up to interpretation#I like my jackie characterization hard to find and unpack#as for the actual gamplay stuff Im definitely enjoying the different playstyle of the bionic dupes a lot so far#I havent gotten far enough into my test run to rly know how they feel in long term colonies but they are quite fun so far#I like how they add some pretty strong early game benefits while also adding a pretty important early research racing#I also enjoy their oxygen tanks but I have noticed that they tend to chose weird and sometimes extremely inconvenient places to refill#I don't think I rly understand their logic for chosing spots yet but I thinkkkk they might be trying to chose somewhere away from general#living areas? I could be wrong though I have seen them recharge directly by cots before but maybe its based on the pod location idk#but yeah this is me screaming at ulti to stop recharging by a tiny spec of oxygen surrounded by slimelung infested polluted oxygen#so basically sending them out to germy or unbreathable environments is theoretically safe most of the time but it's not as safe as a suit#that combined with their adverse reactions to liquid and extreme temperatures does still leave need for athmosuits#which is a good thing to be clear#in theory this also means that oxygen masks can still be of use to a bionic dupe even if it isnt necessary#especially if theyre making large transit that risks them running out of oxygen and trying to refill inside an contaminated area#but yeah if I had one complaint abt the bionic dupes it would be that I wish there were a few more#I get not wanting to bloat the dupe count but you can and will see duplicates within the early game#there isn't a lot of variety with them which makes bionic dupe heavy colonies feel less appealing to me

hey uh, dont think ive seen anyone point out how shit of a plan Father had? maybe ive misremembered something, but uh, he only had two out of five sacrifices (one he didnt even know the location of!) when the promised day was like literally a year away? dont you think thats leaving it a bit late?
#and like they had the candidates but they were already proving to be difficult to work with (dr marco)#or were straight up getting murdered (state alchemists by scar)#like he didnt know about izumi until bradley literally stumbled upon her#and al was found out later#but like what was their plan before that? get to the promised day and force some guys to open the portal together?#also pretty sure that the teleportation thing to gather them only worked if they were in central? which means al could have thrown off#everything if kimblee didnt show up?#bc then they needed one MORE sacrifice and like where you getting that on such short notice?#it was a good thing they picked such morally righteous sacrifices who wouldnt abandon amestris at its darkest hour#like if i found out he wanted me i would have noped the fuck outta there#sense of justice be damned i am not getting near that guy just bc i tried to raise the dead and need to set it right or whatever#i want an au where ed al and izumi dont find out about the promised day and just idfk take a trip to xing#and the eclipse passes and father has to wait another two hundred years????? after he spent so long planning shit????#man idk what im on about but yknow#gestures vaguely#what was bro doing#fmab spoilers#fmab#dwarf in the flask#moss' madness

Or here's another example where... ok, so two things with this one
First is that I'll use the phrase "going into town" both to mean into my town, but also into one of the cities nearby... because... "going into town" just means... heading to a populated place to do something
But that reminds me of the fact I've had multiple people argue with me that cause my town has around about 100 people living here that it's actually a "village" or "hamlet" or... whatever
A) It's fucking literally called Town of ___, that's what I gotta write on my water and trash checks
B) We don't have too many villages in the US... village is a vibe, and pretty much all our places have the vibe of town or city (and a lot of the cities have town vibes)... I can't name any villages in the US, but I'd bet they'd be on the east coast
Just stop being so pedantic about stuff. Words have broad meanings cause they more or less mean whatever we use them to mean. Like there's limits and there's times you really shouldn't erode a word's meaning, but words like town or friend or sorry... they just have broad meanings
You just kinda gotta accept that english relies a lot on context
#it's like the word cousin; in other languages cousin instantly tells you gender#in enlish you gotta listen and find out more about what that cousin is like#...mhh... or like in my case I got no cousins from my aunt or uncle#but I've got cousins that are my parent's; and I've probably got cousins that are even with me but whatever removed#and so I'd tell you I don't have any cousins... cause I don't#but also I obviously got cousins cause I think it's impossible not to; like I think that may literally be impossible to avoid#cause in english practically anything is a cousin if it's in your family and not a parent or aunt/uncle#like cousin is just so ambiguous cause pretty much all the cousins I actually know are my parents generation#...no... all of them I know; I've heard of ones in my generation; but I don't know any of those#cousin is a super contextual word in english#and if you can accept that you can shut up about sorry or not ride people's ass if they said they didn't have friends growing up#or you can fuck off about if I live in a town or not when it's literally called a town here#you can stop being pedantic and realize that we don't live in a dictionary#and you can grasp that many words are as nonsensical as cousin that really means almost anything#like you're probably my cousin technically; like 20 times removed or whatever; but we all fucking end up related eventually#and cousin really doesn't seem to have a fucking cut off; like I'll be honest in many ways it feels like a silly concept#to me cousin really means child of an aunt or uncle; and parent's cousins would be great cousins#that's how I'd have set it up... but I didn't; so cousin is anything; any gender#and back to my point; it's just if someone mentions their cousin you just don't know what that means and you need context#could be a girl their age or a guy 20 years older or a baby
