My unwillingness to watch the ending of this show is further cemented every time I see something like this. The comics were very dear to me, and so were the first two seasons of this show, but I literally do not think I can stomach seeing this piece of media be handled this badly.
my queer, neurodivergent ass when The Umbrella Academy ends with, "you were born wrong, every bad thing that has happened to you is your fault, and the only way the world can be good and safe is if you are eradicated from existence"

Since Andrew is taking some well deserved time away from the public at the moment, let's revisit (or visit for the first time, if you're new here) this stunning photoshoot from Mr. Porter, October 2019, when he was doing press for Modern Love and his Ripley casting had just been announced (yes, it's taken that long for it to come out).

Mr Andrew Scott’s big brown eyes are open wide in amused disbelief. “That was not an Irish accent,” he says in his musical Irish brogue. “That was a West Country accent.” How embarrassing for an interviewer who thought to connect with her subject by lightly mocking Mr Ed Sheeran’s – again – not-Irish accent in his cameo in Mr Scott’s episode of Amazon’s upcoming anthology series, Modern Love. Panic sets in. “It’s all right,” he says, soothingly. “It’s all right. Accents are such funny things.”
You know what else is a funny thing? Sitting with Fleabag’s “hot priest” – 2019’s most unexpected sex symbol – in a wine bar in Bermondsey, southeast London, talking about vulnerability, romcoms and love stories. Or, to take another angle: sitting across the table from the deranged Jim Moriarty and letting him pick out a rosé. That tickles, too. Having Hamlet express the need for a mini-break in, he doesn’t know, Copenhagen? Amsterdam, maybe? Surreal.
But actually, Mr Scott, who is wearing what can only be described as a modified sweatsuit (shorts and a zip-up sweatshirt, no shirt beneath) after our photoshoot isn’t funny funny. No, Mr Scott is serious: reserved and contemplative, but with the energy of a theatre nerd who, every once in a while, rests his head in his hands, cupping his fingers around his eyes to form blinkers while he thinks about a question you’ve just asked. In this quiet wine bar. He’s not an evil murderer, an agent of a shadowy organisation, or an overly excited (wink) cleric. He’s just a nice guy who sympathises about the difficulty of parsing the subtleties of the many accents in the British Commonwealth (and beyond).
Mr Scott is still hot off his run in Fleabag, even though the show ran from March to April of this year. A few weeks ago, he received a GQ Men of the Year Award, and just a few weeks after that, was in Los Angeles at the Emmy Awards where Fleabag cleaned up, winning three awards.
Of course, this is not Mr Scott’s big break. He’s been in the business since moving from Dublin to London 20 years ago to pursue acting. His dad worked in employment, helping young people find the right careers and his mother was an art teacher. “They were definitely into following your passion and doing that for the rest of your life,” he says. “Rather than, ‘You should be a lawyer,’ or whatever the fuck.”
And this has been a year for Mr Scott’s passions. Aside from Fleabag, and an episode of Black Mirror that landed on Netflix this June, he’s making a poignant appearance in the aforementioned _Modern Love,_ which will drop all at once on 18 October. A series of discreet episodes, each one features its own starry cast (Mr Dev Patel, Mr John Slattery, Ms Tina Fey, Ms Anne Hathaway and, of course, Mr Ed Sheeran, among others), based on the much-loved New York Times column from which it takes its name. Mr Scott’s episode, which co-stars Ms Olivia Cooke and Mr Brandon Kyle Goodman, is loosely based on an early column written by the sex-and-relationships writer Mr Dan Savage about the unusual experience he and his partner had with adoption. “It’s just a really sweet little story. It’s not about a romantic relationship,” he says, (many Modern Love entries are not). “It’s simply about the relationships between people.”
He’s also currently filming in Cardiff for the BBC TV series of His Dark Materials. And maybe there’s a Marvel movie in his future? “Oh, fuck. Completely false,” he says. “Someone said, ‘Are you going to be in a thing?’ I said, ‘No,’ and I said, ‘There have been discussions.’ And it’s like ‘Andrew Scott has been in discussions.’”
That’s what happens when suddenly everyone wants you – to use Twitter parlance – to run them over with your car. The Priest, unlike his other characters, was a sex symbol, one that wears the hell (forgive me, Father) out of a cassock. But who could be surprised that Mr Scott turned a priest into the “Hot Priest” simply by saying “kneel”? (If you don’t know what that means, stop reading now, watch the show, come back.) In fact, he has been making words positively drip with meaning for nearly a decade.
Consider Moriarty, the insane criminal puppet master Mr Scott played for six years across four seasons of the BBC’s Sherlock, opposite Mr Benedict Cumberbatch in the titular role. This particular Moriarty – Holmes’ famous nemesis, who has also been played by Messrs Orson Welles, John Huston and Sir Laurence Olivier – is indelible and utterly idiosyncratic. “If you’re going to do it, I don’t see there’s any point in doing it without putting your own stamp on it. I never look at any previous incarnations,” says Mr Scott. The result of this thinking – in Sherlock, at least – was a Moriarty who is all sing-song eeriness, molten physicality, and questionable cutaway collars. “He was quite theatrical; he was grotesque, sort of the archetypal villain,” he says. Archetypal, indeed: the role propelled him into the world of maniacal superfandom. He might not have received a dedicated stan nomenclature like his co-star (ahem, “Cumberbitches”), but the role made Mr Scott a household name.
Of course, establishing yourself as adept at playing evil incarnate probably leads to people wanting to cast you in more Moriarty-like roles. “Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yep, yeah,” he says, six times. “Yeah, exactly right,” (one more). “I turned down a lot. The shadow of that character took over for a little while.”  The craze got to be so tiresome that he asked the interviewer for a recent profile in The Guardian not to ask him about Moriarty at all (two years after he last appeared in the series). But now he sees a bigger picture, understands how being the object of abject obsession can be a good thing. “I think to answer your questions,” he says, tapping his fingers on the table, “it’s been really good fun.”
Mr Scott demurs when asked what it’s like to be the quencher of many thirsts on the internet. “People don’t say that to me. People don’t say, ‘Oh my God...” He shakes his head and trails off, perhaps in horror of what fans could be saying to him. It’s a little hard to believe that he wouldn’t be mobbed as he walks down the street. After all, one major British publication declared that Fleabag and the Priest were the only couple worth talking or tweeting about this year. (We guess Meghan and Harry, and Kim and Kanye can relax.)
“If I’m honest, it’s only really just starting to dawn on me, the global effect the show has had. People like a bit of transgression, they just do.” Any follower of his career, though, understands that it’s more than just good writing that makes him so very watchable (though good writing, is, politely, what he puts it down to). His chemistry is electric with Ms Phoebe Waller-Bridge, as it was electric with Mr Cumberbatch, and palpable even if you weren’t lucky enough to catch his rendition of Hamlet and – like this interviewer – had to watch a clip on YouTube.
Mr Scott’s character, Tobin, in Modern Love is the most subdued we might ever see him. There’s very little shouting, and none of the wide-eyed glaring that has defined his roles to date. Instead, he plays sweetly, quietly off a tiny baby, and tells goodnight stories to an adorable little girl. Perhaps this is a harbinger of softer roles to come. “I’d love to be in a romcom,” he says. “I love watching people fall in love, and how mad it is.” And yet: it was just announced that he will be playing Tom Ripley in a new adaptation of The Talented Mr Ripley. So much for avoiding the nutters.
“What always amazes me is how innocent we are as human beings,” he says, sidestepping yet another probing question about being so irresistible right now. “We are very easily manipulated by stories. If someone puts scary music behind someone and they’re told this person’s eyes are absolutely terrifying, you go: ‘Oh my God, that person is scary, and his eyes totally freak me out.’”
“But then,” he continues, “[you’re told] ‘the priest is hot, wait till you see him’. And then you look at his eyes in a very different way and it’s the manipulation of the storytelling. It literally changes your character.” Hmmm.
“The success is the writing,” he tries, again, to argue. But it’s hard to be convinced that an actor who’s hopped from one iconic character to another is simply lucky with writing. He sees he’s not getting anywhere and changes tack. “Acting is just a way of experimenting with different parts of myself. Vulnerability is something I’m really, really interested in. I think vulnerability is at the centre of every character I’ve ever played even if they don’t appear or present as vulnerable.”
Throughout this conversation, his eyes have flicked around the bar, and he pauses from time to time to comment on the other patrons. At one point, a woman is coughing so vehemently, he stops mid-sentence to remark, humorously, on whether she might be dying. Now, he spots something on the bar. “Oh my God, she’s reading Brené Brown.” We both turn to stare at the book.
“She writes a lot about vulnerability,” he explains, excited. “[Being vulnerable] is how you get ahead. I really, really strongly believe that. [Vulnerability is] strong, it’s really strong.”
Perhaps this is the secret we’ve been trying to distil about his appeal: Mr Scott uses vulnerability to bring us all into a space of fear or sadness or lust or anger with him so that every character he plays – whether it’s the hottest priest in London, a gay man in Brooklyn trying to become a father, or a murderous villain – thrums with the heartbreak that comes with being human.
“The more I work,” he continues, “the more I just think every story is in some way concerned with love – or the lack of it.” He smiles an earnest little smile and we both know this is the place to stop. “That’s the way life is,” he says. “It’s so fast and furious.”

I Can Help You With That...
Gerard way x Reader
->Masterlist
Tumblr media
A/N: Hey!! Sooo i was bored and wanted to "practice" my english. I've never posted something like this and i wrote this instead of sleep... Let me know if you like it (:
- Word count : 1.195
Summary - You are his daughter best friend since ever, and always go to their house. One day, Gerard finds out that you are a comic writter, but you are also in some kind of art block. He says that he could help you if you wanted to and, well... this end up a bit different than you both expected.
- Warnings: NOT SMUT, Big age gap
- Ps: You and his doughter (i will not use her name 'cause i think it's weird) are 20 years old or something, and he's 47 (current era?).
- Ps2: I'll not use y/n...
- Ps3: I'm brazilian, so english is not my first language ... sorry if i wrote something wrong.
___________________________________________
3rd Person POV
You were walking down the street to your best friend's house. You knock on the door and she comes with a usually smile on her face.
   - Hey! I missed you! - She said as she opened the door.
   - But we saw each other yesterday! - You laugh, hugging her and entering the Way's house.
The place was absolutely pretty, you feel like you're never gonna get used to that. You've been going there every week since you were 12, but always get impressed with all that stuff.
She led you to her room and there you two watched a movie and talked about how much better it would be if you were the directors, actors or whatever.
When the movie ends, you two went down stairs to the kitchen to take something to eat. You saw a familiar face, long brown hair, the cutest nose ever and, of course, THOSE hazel eyes. Gerard was there. You would never admit it to anyone, but you find him really attractive.
No. You can't think about your best friend's dad like that.
He looked up the newspaper he was reading and smiled at you. You smile back as he picks a mug with coffee and takes a sip.
***
   - I didn't ask you about your comic! How is it going? - Your friend gives you a cup of coffe while you two are sitting at the table with Gerard.
In the moment your bestie asked, Gerard looked at you surprised and curious.
   - I dunno... i'm in a fucking art block since the last time i show you the sketches. - you took a sip of your coffee and continued - I mean, i know all the story, but i can't find the way to put this together.
   - I can help you with that... if you want me to - He looks really excited, and even if you thought it was a bad idea, couldn't say 'no' to him. - I've worked at DC Comics, and also my comic turned into a Netflix series so...
1st person POV
I really don't know how to feel about this. I mean, he's an amazing comic writer, and also he's so cute, and lovely, and- NO! STOP IT RIGHT NOW! It's so fucking wrong think about him this way.
Well, he's cool, but I think spending time with him could make me fall for him for REAL.
But i really need help. So i didn't think too much about it and just dropped the first thing that comes in my mind.
   - Sure! It will be awesome!
   - That's right, you're up for it tomorrow?
   - Yeah! After my shift, I'll bring my notes and sketches, then we can talk about the whole thing.
I just get excited... sue me.
*** time skip ***
With all my notes, drawings and stuff i'm in front of Way's house, waiting to someone to open the door.
   - Sup? -She looks hurried when open up the door and leaves the house. - I'm going out to my mom's place right now. So... if you need something, text me. - Since her parents divorced, my she keep 'froggin' between the both houses, and i never know where she will be until she say it.
   - So now you're leaving me? - I said, overreacting sadly - I thought you'd help me!
   - i'm not leaving you, and i never said i would help you... i'm not a professional. But I'm sure dad will help you. Now i gotta go. Bye!
She gave me a fast hug and ran to the taxi cab as i got in the house.
Gerard was in the living room, seated on the couch. He was wearing his 'Mercyful Fate' sweatshirt, and black jeans, pretty as alway.
He stood up and greeted me, like usual.
   - So... what did you got in there? - He smirks and points to my bag.
I started to unpack my notebooks, pens and some drawings I've done.
   - Well... The whole story I think. I know it's not perfect but i guess i-
   - lemme see - he took the script and read it carefully every detail. I'll not lie, i feel really judged and the only thing across my mind was "please like it". After the most slow ten minutes i have ever lived, he finally break the silence.
   - This is awesome. The main character has a good backstory. I also loved your art style.
I felt my face burn while I looked him in the eyes.
   - T-thanks - it was awkward, but i think he didn't notice.
We spent the whole afternoon working together and everything was perfect, but when I was finishing the last draft of the day, he got closer to see how it was going, and I felt his hand on my leg. My heart started to race as I heard  his breath on my ear. I tried to keep doing my work, but I was melting on that chair and could barely hold the pencil.
   - Damn, this is beautiful. - He said practically whispering in my ear.
I just smiled as he pulled back, so i started to pack my things to go back home. I stand up and looked at him.
   - Thanks for helping me... I was really confused about what to do with this.
   - That's fine, I mean, it's good to see young artists who are into comics and stuff. Thanks for letting me help, by the way.
I hugged him. I don't know why, but I did, and damn it feels so good... He smelled like coffee. He was warm and I could easily sleep in his arms.
As I pulled away, he keeped his hands on my hips, I looked up to see his eyes and he moved his hand to my cheek. I pull my arms around his neck and we kiss. A passionate kiss, it feels like he wanted this for a long time.
I pulled away as I remembered that this was wrong. I mean, it feels great, but I was wrong. I'm his kid's best friend, there's no way this was right.
- I- I'm sorry! I didn't mean to kiss you. I mean, i wanted to but... this was so fucking- i started
  - That's fine... it's not like I didn't want to. But you're right... we're not supposed to do that. - the look on his face was nothing like regret. Was obvious that he didn't wanted to stop it. - I'm sorry... it was... unprofessional or whatever...
Okay, it's oficial, he wanted me as much as I wanted him. That's a green flag to try something....
   - That's fine. I totally could do this again... if you wanted to...
His smile grows as he pulled me closer and kiss me again, a needy kiss. This time shyless, and I felt his tongue explore my mouth, as I runned my fingers through his hair.
I was trying to focus just on the way he kissed me, but flashes of conscience passed through my mind, and I started to think about how wrong kissing his soft lips was.
We stopped the kiss and just looked at each other for a moment. Maybe it wasn't that wrong.
- I gotta go home now...
- Yeah, I think so... maybe we can keep working at your comic next week.
- I would love to.

Also thoughts on finale!!!!!
AHHH OK I HAVE A LOT
1. Yes, felt a bit like a rushed finale, trying to tie up loose ends and whatnot. It is what it is, but in the 16-episode seasons the writers definitely were able to pace things insanely well, so you feel how clipped they are in this 10-episode season.
2. I was totally misled by fics and other posts that Harvey like pressured her into marrying him and that he had decided to move to Seattle without us getting to see them talk about it, but I was pleasantly surprised to not feel that way about how it went down!! When Donna brought up the concern that their families weren't there, he instantly said they'd do it again, and IDK something in Donna's vibe was just giving of crazy "yes I need to marry you right now" energy. The man she's been pining after for years is literally proposing to her with his grandmother's ring THAT HE WAS KEEPING IN HIS POCKET!!!! yeah i would fold and have an impulse wedding too. she got her bag!!
about Seattle, I made a post about this but lowkey it felt like an idea that Donna had, knowing that Harvey was leaving the firm and that with everything that's happened, they both needed a change of pace and a support system in Mike and Rachel. Huge bummer that we don't get to see how the decision was made, but her adamant behavior in telling Louis that they both want to leave and also her checking in with Harvey and asking HIM "are you sure you want to do this" felt very much like she was checking in because he had agreed to HER plan, not the other way around. She's very clearly comfortable and happy with the decision. We love to see it.
3. When Louis mentioned (before the Faye takedown) that him, Donna, and Harvey were all that was left of PEARSON HARDMAN, I fucking cried. I hadn't heard any of the characters call it PH in so long and it was a crazy realization that they really were the originals from before the series had even started.
4. Donna's dress was so beautiful at the wedding I kept looking at it like 🥹
5. Donna saying in her vows that 100 years would never be enough time with Harvey.... Yeah I felt that. They wasted so much time not being together that now, no amount of time is enough.
6. WE FINALLY GOT TWO FULL "I LOVE YOUs" FROM HARVEY TO DONNA LMAO
7. I wish after the wedding they were at least a little more affectionate with each other and we got one more "my wife"/"my husband" (DONNA DESERVES TO FLAUNT HER BAG!!!! (her bag is harvey <33)). Like I wish we just got a little more juice or something about them being excited to do this next chapter together or whatever. But oh well that's what fanfiction is for
8. When Donna instantly went to hold Lucy first and Harvey was just smiling at them.... Oh my mind was at WORK!!!
9. As iconic as it would have been for darvey to be walking out of the offices together, I actually really appreciated that last moment between Donna and Louis, because their friendship is incredibly strong and I liked that it was acknowledged!!! And having Harvey be the last one out was just very iconic like yeah I ate that up that's our man
10. name partner katrina bennett my beloved <333
Sorry for the long post!!! Thank you for asking about my thoughts I'd love to hear how you feel about any of the bits and just how the episode goes overall
(I also cannot wait for Netflix to finally drop season nine so I can get more darvey stills at last)

marked - part 1. (pedro pascal x gn/m!reader)
Tumblr media
a/n: starting a deep dive into whatever the fuck this is.
summary: in a world where soulmates are connected by a distinctive mark, mirrored on their bodies, Pedro's bullseye takes on a new meaning. (set 2019.)
——————————————————————————————————
You can’t bring yourself to knock on the door. Even your hand, outstretched, cuticles raw with worry, torments you with the gravity of the moment— bearing the mark that brought you here. The “target”; three concurrent circles, carved into the webbing of your left thumb by fate itself.
It brought you here— to the doorstep of its counterpart. To your soulmate.
Carol, a woman from Wardrobe, had spotted it, the target, in passing at the afterparty. You’d never spoken; always seen her around, at work, but never had a reason to enter her orbit. Yet she’d grabbed your wrist, waiting at the open bar for a watered-down G&T, inspecting your left hand with a startling and unreadable gaze.
“Where did you get this?” She’d asked, though the answer was clear— it was not a tattoo. Where tattoos were flat, marks were deep-set, shinier, burned into the flesh in-utero (or whatever the scientists were saying now).
Your brain, hampered by two drinks on a Lexapro tolerance, was slow to process. “Shit, do you…”
Carol was still holding your wrist. “Can I take a picture?”
“No face.” That would be just your luck; the first picture your soulmate sees, blurry and flushed and coming off a 16-hour day. SNL Saturdays kicked the shit out of you. Unless they’ve seen you, you know them, they’re here tonight…
The questions spiraled off, as they always seem to. She’d released your wrist to begin furiously texting, leaving you to freak out in the middle of the crowded party. Circled back a drink later, given you a phone number and a man’s name, and disappeared back into the sea of nameless coworkers and plus-ones.
And so here you are: standing on the Brooklyn doorstep of the man who shares your mark, one intercom buzz away from the rest of your life. Or not.
Before you can hit it, the electric lock unlatches with a metallic hum. You hope to fuck he didn’t see you standing there like an idiot. Inside the door, there is a staircase to the second floor, and a small pile of shoes (mostly sneakers) on a worn welcome mat.
You ascend as shakily as you stood outside. Out of breath, not from exertion but sheer adrenaline.
At the top, right at your last footfall, before you can even knock, the door swings open, and—
“Hi.”
There he is.
Taller than you, by a good few inches. Much older than you, too, though you knew that. One Google search had given you a shocking amount of information. Famous, famous-famous, like Netflix famous, Star Wars famous. You were no stranger to that side  of life, writing for SNL, but you never really thought you’d end up marked to someone like this.
The man before you now is not red-carpet-ready. His hair is slightly shaggy and salted at the temples. A purple Lakers tee and some light wash jeans, colorful socks poking out the bottom. (Though you agonized over it all morning, dressing casual seems to have been a good call. "They're your soulmate," your roommate had said, "what you wear shouldn't matter.")
Black glasses frame dark eyes, which meet yours with a thoughtful and hopeful softness.
“Hi.”
A paid, professional writer, but you can’t bring yourself to say another word.
“I, uh.” At least he seems equally lost. His eyes don’t leave you, but it doesn’t feel uncomfortable. You are appraising each other, taking it in. Soulmates. Or something?
He reaches out a hand— not his right, to shake, but his left. You are marked in the same place, same hand, same three circles.
“Pedro,” he says, trance-like, still holding your hand. “Sorry, I… It’s a lot.” His thumb, warm and un-calloused, rubs back and forth over the marked skin. You can’t draw your eyes away from the motion.
“Do you want to come in?” He laughs, weakly. Drops your hand and gestures for you to follow him over the threshold.
The apartment is clean, well-lit; all light wood and white finishings. You follow him down a narrow hallway, which opens into a comfortable living area. Pictures line the wall, small pieces of framed artwork and photographs of happy people. You recognize a few of them.
"I'm sorry," you find yourself saying, clearing your throat. "This is a lot. People wait their whole lives. Or something. For this." For the chance to stand awkwardly on their soulmates carpet, worrying their bottom lip between their teeth.
Pedro turns around to face you. There are tears in his eyes. "I'm gonna be honest, I thought I'd never match," he said quietly. "Forty four years old. I thought I'd never find you."
"Can I..." On instinct alone, you close the distance between you— not for a sweeping, romantic kiss, but to tentatively reach up and brush the tear from his cheek, with the thumb that bears his mark.
His hand finds the soft spot between your neck and shoulder, and he gives you a small squeeze. "I'm just excited," he says, choked with emotion. "To have you here, with me."

The difference between watching a drama written 10 years ago and one airing right now is truly astonishing. I re-watched I hear your voice and whatever anyone's feelings about it or its couple, the way the writing is there to tell a story, and a big part of that is a love story and you can feel the way this writer is genuinely trying to weave a tale of two people surviving together and being there for one another and protecting each other. Now most of the time when I watch something I feel like there was a zoom meeting where they went over talking points and hashtags where they said "this is the dynamic that sells right now be sure that's how you tell your story" and that's just sad tbh.
CLOCK THEM ANON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i hear your voice is just so beautifully written it has such wonderful rewatch value it's the perfect summertime drama imo, and i feel the same way about the majority of older dramas. do you know what they let characters do? they let them exist in silence and space. they let them process things for actual screen-time. i feel like ever since the netflix overlords and other streamers and the internet in general got their hands on kdramas, they've become more monetized than ever. i mean yes there was awful PPL for a good amount of the later 2010's kdramas, but the way kdramas have just become this "hire big names, a script, and budget" and the rest just gets thrown in the air is wild to me. it's the same way with literature these days; it all exists to sell a trope and tag and promote to tiktok and whatever godawful website controls society in our time.
the dramas back then didn't have the pretty cinematography or fancy budgets but they had so much fucking HEART and SOUL. i constantly find myself rewatching them and maybe it's the nostalgia in all of us, but i just cannot help but feel like we truly went backwards in many ways. we exchanged the wide eyed kisses for makeout scenes, yes, but somewhere along the way, we lost what made kdramas special.

I knew the Netflix avatar show wouldn't live up... But man I'm only 2 episodes in and I am so disappointed. I didn't even have high hopes for it and they managed to shock me with some of their decisions.
The original cartoon is 10 hours long.
Netflix chose to have 8 episodes totalling about 7 hours.
Why not 10, 1 hour long episodes? Who knows. Who cares. I'm fine with adaptations cutting stuff out or changing stuff due to the nature of adaptations. But the level of what I'll let them get away with changes based on medium adapted.
An animated TV show to live action TV show should NOT have to seriously change things in order to make it fit the TV. As it's literally already designed for it.
But having 22 episodes wouldn't fit Netflix's business model of binging long episodes!
Putting gyazos death at the beginning of the show, and showing it is just bizarre to me. It completely kills Aangs revelation of him being dead.
The original show made it have an air of mystery by you not knowing initially. All you know is this dorky kid is the avatar. And he was frozen in ice. It made you think, did he do it himself? Or who froze him? And why?
Where are all the air benders?
Oh they're dead? Woah, that's awful.
Instead you go in knowing all of this. It defeats the purpose of later revelations. What the fuck. Netflix's millions should not have ended up with writing this fucking atrocious.
Instead of stealing the water scroll, she now got it from her Gramma. How nice. Completely removes a fun character. And a plot point. Cutting down, alright whatever.
Remember Momo's fun introduction? They get scared and think there's someone at the air temple, to come face to face with a shadow who approaches them... Only to be a cute flying lemur! Adorable! And Sokka is hungry so he chases him around, adorable!
In the Netflix adaptation you'd think they'd keep such an iconic entrance! Nope! He literally just randomly flies up to them and joins them and Aang goes "hi momo" and Sokka is like "momo?"
And goes "yeah he looks like a momo-"
FUCK OFF FUCK YOU
Edit: I completely understand why the OG writers removed their name from the project and left the project. Fuck Netflix

-sozin looks weirdly… nice? like he has “harmless old man” vibes. i don’t actually dislike this casting choice i think there’s a lot of potential to having him look friendly and approachable even as he does war crimes
-seriously did someone in the writer’s room watch rogue one before coming in and then go like “HEY I KNOW WHAT WE SHOULD ADD” WHAT is this plot doing here
-where is katara’s opening narration. like i get they aren’t adapting one to one but that’s such a loss. the opening cutscene from the original series was so good
-WHERE THE FUCK IS THE GAANG SERIOUSLY. WHY ARE WE STARTING WITH RANDOM EARTH KINGDOM MAN AND SOZIN
-all of these people are so fucking sweaty what is this
-sozin’s outfit is appropriately fuckable
-“my sights… are set… higher… because… it is… our time…” “[screaming]” wow very emo
-KATARA IS HERE!! MY BEST GIRL
-why did they change the narration. this is objectively worse.
-oh no this isn’t katara is it… dang :(
-air temple looking neat. why are we here tho. where are katara and sokka
-why is everyone watching aang jumping around like he’s a fucking celebrity. have they never seen an airbender before in the fucking air temple
-at least they say aang’s name right. step up from shamalalalam or whatever his name is. of course that bar is so low the devil declared it a tripping hazard, so
-these people do NOT talk like actual humans. have these writers never had to write natural exposition before
-genuinely what was the point of that first scene. WHAT does it add
-“when yangchen died the next avatar was born into the water tribe” what, does aang not know this. my fucking god this exposition is shit
-aang didn’t know he was the avatar?? and then didn’t immediately get an ego about it when gyatso told him??? who is this and what did you do with my BOY
-the acting isn’t bad but the lines are so shit it’s hard to tell
-aang is NOT sufficiently goofy
-appa’s kind of ugly :(
-TEAM ROCKET’S BLASTING OFF AGAIN (<— my unfiltered reaction to sozin going jetpack mode)
-unnecessary airbender fight scene. i think this is literally just here to look cool and honestly? 6/10
-aang just fuckin… wandered off? instead of willfully running away? bro you can’t take my boy’s agency like this
-i want a video of appa’s va making those noises into the mic. come on netflix do it it’ll be funny
-WHY is everything so WET all the time
-20 minutes in and i have yet to see the south pole. literally none of this is necessary to the story. you could cut all of it and nothing would change
-HERE SHE IS. FINALLY. IT’S HER
-no funny boat scene with sokka? insert no bitches megamind here
-oh they still have a boat scene. unfortunately it sucks ass
-WHERE IS PISSED OFF KATARA DECIMATING AN ICEBERG BY ACCIDENT
-seriously. they’re removing all the good scenes to fit more unnecessary action and/or melodrama filler in
-shitty zuko cameo
-WHAT is that scar. why is it so small. did he fall and get a scrape on his face? looks more like a scab than anything. 2/10
-baffling why the iceberg even reacted to katara when she’s apparently so fucking incapable she can’t even lift a water orb. they’re massacring my girl
-why does sokka want to leave this random child to die
-kanna!
-“it can’t be… this… is an airbender…..” i am rolling my fucking eyes
-iffy on this iroh so far but i’ll reserve judgement
-tumblr was right. zuko’s actor is absolutely putting his whole pussy into this. he can have rights
-how are NONE of these jokes landing. even the ones they directly crib from the original just… lose all impact
-why is kanna saying the intro dialogue randomly with no prompting. seriously these writers are SO. FUCKING. SHIT
-every emotional beat in this comes off more wooden than a fucking tree
-seriously. everything i could say about this just boils down to the wooden writing, unnecessary and poorly executed exposition, the action scenes shoehorned in for no discernible reason, inability to create any impact from anything ever, and the removal of all the good scenes from the original in favor of more unnecessary poorly written TRASH
-oh one more thing actually
-AANG TEACHES KATARA TO WATERBEND. GET OUT??
-basically
-they took all the good stuff out to fit in more melodrama and action, but their writing (and directing. and acting) is too shitty to actually sell said drama and their fight scenes are mid at best
-3/10

Intro Post :>
Hello! This account used to be dedicated to my long furby, Flashlight, but I abandoned it and have since returned to Tumlr just wanting a place to post whatever.
I have a tiktok and an instagram (both under the username pigeonpawz) where I post art, and I *may* post art here, but that's kinda unlikely since I already have accounts for that elsewhere.
About Me:
-I'm an artist and animator! I wanna be an animator/writer when I graduate (kinda like Alex Hirsch!) Wish me luck LMAO (probably gonna end up living under a bridge with the way the industry's looking rn 💀)
-I am a furry and a therian (Crow and questioning another theriotype, this one's either a canine or feline of some sort). My fursona is a pigeon/griffin named Pidge.
-I have 2 long furbies now! I'm still very much into furbies and I only stopped posting about them because there's only so much I can post about with them. The second one was made by theoddbody on Etsy and is Frutiger Aero themed! I love both of my furbies very much (and have been thinking about fixing up Flashlight, as I made a few mistakes while making them).
Anyways uhhh idrk what I'll post. Sorry if you followed me for furby stuff bc I won't post much about that anymore. I'll leave up my old posts tho.
DNI
-furry and therian haters fuck off
-misogynists, homophobes, transphobes, racists, and whatever other fuckass forms of bigotry yall invented
-anyone trying to sell me shit

I know I'm EXTREMELY late but I have my reasons -cough- fuck you Netflix from a Warrior Nun fan -cough- for holding back on too much of Netflx; I'm mostly binging from time to time and Arcane is coming soooooo yeah, binge time. Anyway just went through Alice in Borderland s1-2 and got some thoughts which include obviously spoilers below:
I know that it comes with an asterisk (namely the actress playing her isn't trans) but love that one of my favs is also a trans characters, just cause LGBT+ YES! She's so badass
Tumblr media
Also I ship them so much and all it took was like 2-3 episodes cause chemistry and care they show towards each other; like I would NOT have thought I'd be shipping them at first (then again I didn't expect Ann or Mira to go the routes they went) xD Was so happy to see that her come back in the real world, cause ngl I'd have been really damn pissed off if Ann stayed dead but fucking Niragi lived. Kuina/Ann all the way.
Tumblr media
Love the smug bastard that is Chishiya
ngl not a fan of whatever the fuck is going on with Aguni and Akane, like she's a high school student (at most 18) and he's a middle-aged man. Like get anything there gone plz.
Now getting to my other fav up there with Kuina, the badass Usagi, like YEEEEEEEEEES! I almost want her to be the MC.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Y'know at first I wasn't a huge fan cause "hot badass girl" x loner nerd (I guess in this case gamer) guy as a means of the writer making up for irl is eye-rolling; but this case actually earned my loving them. Slowburn, actual emotional bonding, no cliche cringe forced moments, soul-bonded, and going through hell for one another = YES.

What are other australian actors/tresses you like that you don't usually talk about?
hello! gonna keep the obvious big names rn (robbies, hemsworths, jackmans, snook) outta this list. stick with ppl i think deserve more hype!
steph tisdel! she's an Aboriginal comedian and her on-screen presence is utterly delightful. her comedy is so brilliantly observational, nerdy and human without being fatphobic. also, I need her and rob collins in a rom-com NOW their chemistry in season 2 of total control made me insane!!!!!
claudia doumit! one of the most beautiful women on earth. most people know her as victoria neuman in the boys and don't realise she's lebanese-australian. i think its really sad she couldn't book work here at home because she's so fucking good!
rebecca breeds! my girl becs was CRIMINALLY overlooked for an emmy a few years ago for her performance as clarice sterling in clarice!! she was so fucking good!!! aside from that, she's in one of my fave Australian comedy films three summers (2017). she has an insaneeeee range she deserves so much hype!
nakkiah lui! more a writer than an actor but if you haven't seen preppers 2021, go watch it now! she's a huge inspiration to me honestly! same for miranda tapsel!
keiynan lonsdale!! most ppl probs don't know that Bram from the love simon movie is Australian and they should because keiynan is bonkers multi-talented. dude makes drops bop after bop on spotify, dances like a maniac, and is such a warm unforgettable screen presence. i am once again begging people to watch my fake boyfriend 2022 on amazon
pallavi sharda! you just don't understand how much i need her to play chloe fraser in a proper uncharted film adaptation. also, pleaseeeeeeee watch wedding season 2022 on Netflix its such a sweet rom-com and i am in love with her
remy hii! another aus actor i just love seeing in things because he was INSANE RANGE. i've seen him thrive in rom-coms, period dramas, crime, whatever, he's a stand out. and he often does work at home too which i love! i got to see him on stage in sydney last year in the tenant of wildfell hall and he was so fun!
geraldine viswanathan! that's my wifeeeee. i know i mention her a lot already but you don't understand she's from the same city as me i love her and she's so talented and she means so much to me!
hunter paige-lochard! incredible Aboriginal actor who really shoulda blown up after leading 2 seasons of Cleverman. he's so handsome and i was ECSTATIC to see him in the newsreader season 2 trailer!
rob collins! i absolutely have talked about this man but you will hear it again!!! please watch firebite on SBS on Demand! but do not watch queen of oz!
i also have particular love in my heart for bigish name actors in a lot of stuff that aren't as well known like miranda otto, david wenham, noah taylor, eric bana, rose byrne, etc but they need no introductions!! also, please just watch Black Comedy on ABC and assume i stan every Blak actor in it because i do.

Some thoughts on the teen wolf movie:
Overall I quite liked the movie, I feel a bit embarrassed saying that after seeing what everyone else thinks about it but I can’t help it lol. I’m not gonna lie I do think there’s both a lot pros and cons to it, so here’s my thoughts on it:
To start off I really loved the time jump it just made sense to me and I love seeing how the character’s ages were now closer to the actors ages instead of them still being in their teen years or early twenties. I didn’t know that was going to happen so I was pleasantly surprised by that. Knowing that Scott still worked with animals and deaton was so sweet to me, Lydia being a fucking was boss was just *chefs kiss* The Hale’s having a family business, awesome. Honestly just having a good portion of the characters back on screen was awesome to me lmao, didn’t realise how much I missed teen wolf til I watched it.
The beginning of the movie was pretty awesome, I never thought that they would open it up to Liam in japan, he’s speaking Japanese and serving customers at a restaurant, this indicates that’s he’s been there a while. Hikari had a cool intro alongside Liam, it’s obvious she’s a badass and you get to see small bits of that throughout the movie. this could’ve been a really good opportunity to create a new strong Asian woman/character that people like me (I’m part Asian) could relate to but instead of making her completely different and new, the writer/s took all of Kira’s traits (Kitsune, sword etc.) and dumped it onto hikari, which to me felt really lazy and probably racist which doesn’t surprise me considering how they treated Arden Cho (go watch partner track on Netflix!!). It’s also obvious that there’s a relationship between hikari and Liam which was also left unexplored because after the intro they were both sidelined throughout the rest of the movie which is really annoying. I’m also a shipper of Liam and Theo as I know others are 👀but honestly for whatever reason, even after only having Liam and hikari for like five minutes I do actually think they’re cute together and if we got to see more of that, I would totally watch it.
I love how malia is still the same when it comes to her thoughts and honesty 😂 glad they didn’t change that too much about her. MALIA AND PARRISH!!!?? I never would’ve guessed they be a thing and I’m not mad about them either, I mean they were pretty hot together but I did find it a bit random and unnecessary.
Derek hale has a son and his name is Eli, I think all The Hale family members seem to have really cool names, don’t ask me why I’m focused on that, I just am lol. Seeing derek have a new family considering he lost all of his other loved ones and his pack got killed made me really happy, I think it’s a logical way to grow his character since we’ve already kind of seen him as a brother and mentor type figure to Scott. genuinely thought we’d only ever see him have kids in fanfics but now it’s canon and I can’t believe it. I am surprised at his death, I was scared earlier on when his neck was bleeding so it was even more devastating when he actually did end up dying later. Tyler did a great job playing Derek and I’m really glad the could get him back for the movie. Derek keeping stiles jeep and fixing it up just gave me all the sterek feels. And the fact that Eli grew up on stories of all the characters 😫
Eli Hale is easily one of the top three best things in this movie for me, he’s a perfect addition and the fact he has so much stiles in him just makes me appreciate his character even more. Maybe they wrote him that way on purpose to fill in for stiles/Dylan but that doesn’t bother me either cos I thought he was introduced really well. I love how they kept stiles part of the movie through Eli with his personality and his obsession with stiles jeep whichleads me to the relationship between Noah and Eli which I freaking adored. I honestly wish after dereks death that Noah would be the one to take in Eli instead of Allison and Scott. I think it would have been better for Scott to just be his mentor and alpha and keep that separate from being a father figure which Noah already kind of is (that’s how I see it anyway). Also Allison tried to kill Eli, so unless Eli’s forgiven her it doesn’t really make sense for them to be a family.
Scott to me felt like the character who changed the least out of all of them which is not a bad thing. I said earlier that I love how he stuck with deaton and dogs, you could see throughout the show his passion for it and I love that that hasn’t changed as he’s gotten older. although after seeing him in the whole firefighting situation at the start, I honestly could see him as a firefighter. He’s got super strength and hearing, like he’d be great at it. I’m glad they wrote it so him and malia were already broken up before Allison came back because I don’t think I could watch malias heart get broken by Scott still being in love with Allison. I thought the reunion between Scott and malia was really funny.
Allison is back!!! The shot where she’s walking and the two cars explode in the background was 🔥🔥 She was a pretty good bad guy, especially going after Eli and Derek because she was ruthless about it which reminded me of how Chris argent was at the start of the series when it came to Scott and Derek since he was pretty ruthless with them too. it was so creepy the way the nogitsune used her especially by pretending to be her mom which made me GASP 😮. And it was super heartbreaking that she didn’t have her memories too. When Scott told her he was still in love with her 😍 the looks they gave each other right after he said that, threw me back to the earlier seasons, it was really cute.
JR bourne did such a good job with chris’ reaction regarding Allison being back. He’s had such great character growth throughout the series and he’s just even more badass in the movie. Also when he was swearing 😏🔥 wish we got to see more of him and Melissa, I’m assuming they’re still together since there was a small hug between them after everything was over but it’s not enough for me lol I need more, I loved them in the show. Another person on tumblr (can’t remember their username sorry!!) said they finally got Melissa a weapon!! and I had the exact same thought, she’s awesome.
Peter had the most Peter hale entrance to the movie and I loved it, I still think he’s an asshole tho lol. Also that scene when they were at the cliff and he’s on his hands and knees sniffing at the ground was really funny to me.
They could not have had mason and Liam further away from eachother throughout the entire movie like wtf, not even a little acknowledgement like a hug between them or anything. With mason being a deputy, I thought made sense because he had the brains and the whole problem solving thing similar to stiles so him being a cop and using his researching abilities etc to solve crimes and seeing him work with Parrish and the sheriff was cool to me since they weren’t really characters that interacted in the show… but if we’re being political I’m not sure if it makes sense since he’s young and black and I’m not sure if he’d buy into the whole “if you want to change the system, you have to be part of it” kind of thing, I don’t know if I’m reaching or reading too much into that but let me know what you guys think about it cos I’m not sure 😅
Lydia, oh Lydia. I love you. She’s a powerful woman, she’s got her own office, she’s all fancy, I love it I love it. Having to imagine her having nightmares of stiles being dead is horrible!! Like why couldn’t he just be on a special assignment some where as an fbi agent so he couldn’t be back to help them. Them not being together after everything is really sad and I’m just grateful they didn’t kill him offscreen. Anyway back to Lydia, when she screamed Allison it gave me chills and took me back to the earlier seasons too, glad to see they got a reunion hug between them. I love how she towed Jackson around with her and he still kept his attitude 😂 I laughed when he was talking about Ethan
Adrian harris, when he revealed himself I was genuinely shocked because I totally thought he died in the show so that was a pretty good plot twist to me, and the fact that he got dragged to eichen house!!! Lol you deserve it asshole.
I think the nogitsune was a good choice of villain to bring back, he’s creepy and manipulative and the fact that Scott’s bite managed to give him werewolf powers!!?? I didn’t see that coming at all!! I thought it was really cool like him turning into a werewolf was like the next level of him being a villian. Everytime the oni we’re on screen, the synchronicity between them had me on edge, watching the gang take them down was really cool, when Derek, Scott and Eli lined up to go after the nogitsune I cheered 😁 just seeing them together with all there different eye colours, I just thought it was really freaking cool.
Throughout the movie I was thinking that if they wanted to kill the nogitsune they’d have to kill Allison too since they’re like connected or Allison would sacrifice herself and die again and I’m glad that wasn’t the case. When Allison had to shoot Scott with the arrows I really thought they’d kill him off and Eli would end up being the next generation kind of thing which is sort of what happened only Derek ended up sacrificing himself instead of Scott dying 😫 if I am being honest with you I think I could make peace with Scott dying if it meant Derek being able to raise his son. The shot with Eli at the end really gives me hope for spin-offs in the future which I would definitely watch but I’m not sure others would be inclined to agree with me. I think the movie was kind of choppy and think that if it was made into limited/mini series like somewhere between 4-8 episodes then it would flow a lot better and would be a lot more appealing to most folks, characters would get better screen time between them, we could get flashbacks (I mean there’s a 15year time jump, stuff has happened!), proper funeral for Derek, I don’t know…I think they could’ve made it work for a tv show. Let me know what you guys think about it in the comments 😊
Edit, some extra notes after reading other users posts:
Liam has a beard and he looked real freaking good
I never realised Derek turned back into in alpha 😫 ugh that’s so awesome, I just noticed it in a gifset someone posted!!!!
Has Allison aged the way everyone else has?
Loved when Jackson took over and put together Lydia’s drawing, it makes sense to me that he’s the one to figure it out since they’re still close friends, I bet stiles would be the one to put it together if he’d been there
Feel like it’s inappropriate to think about this since it was a eulogy/funeral scene, but omg everyone looked super hot in their outfits - Chris in a turtleneck, Allison in a suit and skirt, Noah in the black suit, Melissa and Lydia’s dresses, Peters suit was next level of course… just they looked really good ok 😫😍
Eli is a lacrosse player and it reminded me of Scott and stiles when they were first on the team 😊 it was hilarious when coach made Scott get back into the game even tho he’s and adult

oh man i would love more transmetropolitan-adjacent 90s comics recs.....
omg i got you. I will be bleeding a little into the late 80s and early 2000s here (as transmetropolitan itself did with the early 2000s) but I do think they full of a similar kind of gross edginess (affectionate).
THIS GOT SO LONG SORRY I GOT EXCITED. also sorry for grammar etc i am kinda falling asleep but YAYY comics
first of all i will say MANDITORY DISCLAIMER that Warren Ellis is an awful person and you can find all his works online if you know where to look and/or used on eBay. HOWEVER he has unfortunately written some of my favorite comics, including transmet. which means of course a lot of the best transmet adjacent stuff is written by him. So some Ellis comics:
Desolation Jones: ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVES! which is unfortunately forever unfinished at 8 issues. It follows an ex-MI6 operative working as a private eye in Los Angeles, which acts as a secret prison for the discards of the intelligence community. Jones was put through the desolation test for a full year, which was a form of torture where, among other things, he was exposed to images of violence and death 24/7 without sleep, leaving him with little emotion and a very broken mind. Beautiful page composition and art. Be warned though it is just straight up unfinished
"Superhuman Trilogy": This is the name for 3 completely unrelated comics Ellis wrote that all deal with twisted takes on the creation of superheroes: Black Summer, No Hero, and Supergod. Of these I think No Hero strays a little too much into edge for the sake of it, the other two are very good and unique explorations of different aspects of the genre.
Stormwatch: Ellis' Stormwatch run is basically the lead up to the Authority. You CAN skip it and i recommend most people do because it is VERY 90s and not necessarily the good kind. but if you have a passion for 90s nonsense it is very fun and its cool to see the beginnings of the subversions of the comic industry that come to fruition in the Authority. I cannot emphasize enough that this run is fucking insane and of debatable quality. I believe his run goes from vol 1 #37 through the end of vol 2. and don't forget to pick up wildCATS/Aliens if you want to see the true craziness of 90s comics, where a cash-grab crossover is simultaneously essential to the windstorm universe. yeah they just did whatever back then
The Authority: The superhero comic that defined superhero comics for the next 2 decades. Coined the widescreen comic, unfortunately indirectly led the the creation of the MCU. Superheroes as anarchist gods. The end of the century as the end of the world. A lot of stuff that reads to modern eyes as cliche or overdone because the Authority made it so goddamn popular afterwards.
Now for some non Ellis!
If you enjoy transmet you will probably enjoy the other British Invasion writers. Basically there was a period in comics post-Alan Moore where a lot of British writers started getting hired in American comics and writing weird shit.
Sandman: I don't think I need to describe this one. A lot edgier and more directly goth subculture inspired than the netflix adaptation conveyed
Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol: What if instead of making you a superhero your "superpowers" were more like disabilities? And also you were constantly fighting the most batshit enemies possible? That is this comic. Weird, surreal, and very influenced by modern and postmodern artistic movements.
Peter Milligan's Shade, The Changing Man: imo this is such a British Invasion sleeper hit. No one talks abt this one. A being from another dimension with the power to control capital-M-Madness possesses the body of a serial killer right before he is executed on death row. He then teams up with the daughter of the serial killer's victims to stop a plague of Madness from spreading across the US called the American Scream. All about being weird, gross, and awesome.
Now, I have not read Preacher myself. HOWEVER I have seen the show and really enjoyed it. I am naturally suspicious of Garth Ennis but he is a staple of 90s edge so I feel like I have to say something. I can definitely recommend the show and have heard good things about the comic but again. It's Ennis.
Non british invasion and a little later, but I also really recommend Invincible! A lot of that same early 2000s satire and ultraviolence expanded over a MASSIVE storyline that loves superheroes as much as it parodies them
ANYWAY im probably forgetting some but i am sleepy and got excited abt this lmao. A lot of this is pretty popular so might not be anything new but i hope it helps!

You know what.. I have a feeling I have to get this out of my chest before big announcements (renewal as I belive it should or the other word that should not be named). I really think this show and especially show runners got us a big deal. First season was exceptional not even gonna talk about this one. Like everything that was said and done and.. Like I literally have no words because I remember when I first decided to give warrior nun s1 a chance (don't get me wrong but the title.. It sounds so freaking funny, dumb, interesting and unbelievable at the same time😅.. For someone who has no idea) I fell in love with it.. So much..with every aspect of the series
It was my comfort show since the first time I watched it, and I belive it will be after whatever news we get in the next weeks.. Just the concept of the show, characters, the way it was filmed, scenes, aesthetic, cinematography, action! EvERYTHING is so great it hurts
Anyway to the point (getting sentimental here sorry)
In s2 they gave us everything they could (whole team of WN) and I mean it, if you watched season 2 you know what I'm talking about. Not just the facts (the fanfic tropes, amazing moments, fight scenes, real characters - which none of them were forced-everything feels so natural! Like backstories? None of them was like straight forward.. Like this character is like this because this and this happened in their life, no. They gave us space, entire warrior nun team gave us space(our own fictional world we can create) to only imagine what happened in-between. I cannot appreciate and thank them enough.
To the point again.. Even if (I pray to God/Netflix for not doing this to us) we.. I don't want to say it.. If the end of the season two is all we get.. We have so much space, by we I mean fans, writers, artists and so on.. To make the most of it (hyperbole) I think in the way the writers team prepared for it-for us as well. The hell! Simon even fought for the after credit scene because he could not let the fans hanging in the unknown. So they've tried to make the best they could.
So with this statement (which is propoably the longest I've ever made) I beg you not to compare avatrice with clexa because trust me I've been there when it happened and it's not the same. Not the Bury your gays trope nor the love story. (not bubbling here. I'm still carrying this fucking pain with me).
With this afrer credit scene they gave us hope they gave us so many stories we can carry on with.. even if it's not on screen.
So with this confusing pep talk I want you to carry on- make art, write fanfiction and so on..
Warrior nun team- They gave us all they could and even more

I started First Love on Netflix against my better judgement
Points against it:
1. I hate first love stories, I think the idea of ending up with one's first love is horrifying af (and while it can work in some people's real lives I like to avoid the fictional storyline like the plague)
2. I don't like fluff romance and that name implied it. But mostly first point, because I truly truly hate "fall back in love with childhood love again" stories. Hate hate hate. My only exception Sometimes is if the story is teens falling in love (so no adults going back to exes), or if it's friends to lovers and they weren't lovers prior (like Bad Buddy) and tjis second case ONLY if they were friends (cause I also nearly never can handle the "ran into each other as children and connected, now falling in love again" trope which is rampant in like 90% of cdramas and kdramas and a major reason I rarely watch fluff romance dramas)
But... the points for it?
1. Opened by saying it was inspired by 2 Utada Hikaru songs I like, specifically right in this time period of my life where I've been playing tons of Utada Hikaru songs again so. It feels fated.
2. I saw Testuya Nomura was set decorator and while I hope to high heaven its just a similar name and has nothing to do with the Tetsuya Nomura I'm very familiar with, the idea of kingdom hearts creator Testuya Nomura going to go decorate a romance show set made me laugh hysterically
3. The show opens with a regular aged adult woman, who it's implied has a kid and is over 30 and single, with a not glamorous quite realistic job, and this is not the typical romance drama lead. I appreciate the way she feels like a real person I'd know instead of a perfect person or the kind of hyper rich person I'd never meet. I also like the shows choice to go for set design realism as there was the choice to go polished upper middle class bright sets (which many a show does like Kieta Hatsukoi and Heartstopper both go this route), but instead it went for regular looking job and imperfect clothes and muted color scheme and basically more realistic over glamorize (it's okay to do the brighter than life most shows do, it's quite normal even Teen Wolf does it and Pretty Little Liars and even Buffy The Vampire Slayer put its characters in designer clothes). I personally like the choice for realism over polished beautified in this case, because it implies this will not be "fluff romance" which eases some of what could have made me hate this. It reminds me of My Beautiful Man in the color scheme and set choices.
4. Is the lead guy the same actor who plays Ruroni Kenshin???? I only saw half of Ruroni Kenshin but I loved what I saw and the actor did amazing and. Idk I went into First Love expecting a lead actor I'd be neutral towards or dislike if things go fluff city. But this guy... OH MY GOD I LOOKED IT UP IT IS THE SAME GUY FROM RURONI KENSHIN!!! ITS TAKERU SATOH oh my fucking god!!!! Well firstly, Kenshin really made him look delicate and lovely and just kind of otherworldly almost with grace. This show? He looks rough and real life like some dude you run into at the supermarket that gets up and walks off without hearing your apology. I knew that lovely face looked familiar though. oh my god ITS HIM. Well I can say with comfort now he is a solid actor, so his performance will be enjoyable. I can't believe it's him! I know like 4 japanese actors and I just happen to accidentally tend to watch things they're in apparently.
5. I'm pretty sure the cab ride sampled a Utada Hikaru love where their first love is called a sad story. And I sincerely sincerely hope this means the show will NOT go fluff city ahhh we were first loves so now we are destined to be together~~~ since "sad story" implies they broke up for a reason, they grew apart and aren't still friends for a reason. Which I hope means, in a best case (unless the writers can do better than my hopes which hey that'd be cool): they broke up as first loves for whatever sad reason. They remeet as adults and it's a bit bittersweet. They have to gradually get to know each other again and fall in love, it's not fate or a sure thing - they have to earn that love again and build it as adults who understand stuff kids didn't and can avoid past mistakes. And perhaps they also have to confront the pain of why they stopped talking before this newfound getting to know each other happens. That's best case I can imagine? Maybe writers can do better. Please DO NOT SPOIL ME.
So yeah. I'm terrified this show will go the fluff city first love idealized route I am absolutely horrified by.
