Adding onto this, beyond the lost sales fallacy there’s also the complete and entire ignoring of the fact that for good games, there are many people who will pirate first then go and buy them once they know they’re good. There’s so many games available now, and gonna be honest, a two hour try out that I still have to fork over $60 for on steam isn’t a good demo. Many games don’t have actual demos and the ones that do are very limited snippets of gameplay - you think I’m gonna go flailing around $50-70 for every big game that comes out that might actually be totally unplayable? Not to mention platforms that you can’t even get refunds on... *stares at his Switch* Without piracy, there are so many, many games I would have never tried and then bought.
