“ listen — it wasn’t like I came out here expecting to hear his temper tantrum. just thought I could help , but you got it miss independent. ” 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐮𝐩𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 finding her attitude too amusing , still not fully convinced she even believed her own words , but he recieved the message loud and clear . “ his leash that tight , huh ? ” now he was prying … intentionally rifling through her defenses to make his own point. of course she wasn’t some damsel who needed saving , the guy just seemed like an asshole who needed to be put in his place.
quite frankly emery didn't have it in her to explain or tell off the man in front of her. she was tired, exhausted, mentally drained. so instead, she had decided to play along. " i don't need a stranger to fight my battles for me. or to think im some weird princess in need of a rescue." those word alone made emery chuckle. the femme folded her arms over her chest. " maybe it is best to mind your business. you don't want to get involve with what im going through with him. it's going to be a big thing, especially me talking to you right now."

Queer romance recs for the summer
Summer is here and I know many like to read more lighthearted books during that time, so here are some queer romances I've really enjoyed and that I think are perfect for the summer.
Anything by F.T. Lukens. Most specifically, those I've read are So This Is Ever After, In Deeper Waters, and Otherworldly. If you're looking for cute queer romantasy novels to read this summer, look no further. F.T. Lukens' books are fun and lighthearted even when they deal with heavier topics, and they contain mlm, mlnb, and nb rep.
Running Close to the Wind by Alex Rowland. I've talked about this book before and I'll probably talk about it many more times because I adored it. It's hilarious and refreshing even though it handles some heavy topics, so if you like pirates, accidental treason, and dirty jokes, this book is perfect for you. In terms of representation, it has polyamory rep, various sexualities, and intersex (if I remember correctly) and non-binary rep.
Gwen and Art Are Not In Love by Lex Croucher. This book is an adorable, fun romance set in a historical setting inspired by Arthurian times. It's perfect if you're looking for not one but two forbidden romances, banter and adventure, humour, and wlw and mlm rep.
Delilah Green Doesn't Care by Ashley Herring Blake. I remember I absolutely loved this book when I read it during the summer a couple of years ago, and my feelings after two years are still the same. This book is an adult romance novel (with one or two sex scenes) with vivid and complex characters, amazing sapphic rep, and a fantastic romance. Even better, it's a completed trilogy, and though I've yet to read the two other books, I'm sure they're great too.
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. You've probably already heard of this one, and it is a book I've really enjoyed. Carry On is fun and captivating, and reads easily.
She Gets the Girl by Rachael Lippincott and Alyson Derrick. A cute love story inspired directly from the real-life romance between the authors (who are married, if I'm not mistaken), and a great way to cheer yourself up.
Café con Lychee by Emery Lee. I read this book a couple years ago already, but it was super cute and it read so easily that I finished it in a day. If you're looking for a light-heared, coming-of-age mlm romance, then this is the book for you.
Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall. Last but not least, one of my favourite books from last year. Boyfriend Material is a hilarious mlm romance that somehow manages to be a light read even though it deals with some dark topics. The characters are amazing, their relationship and how it develops even more so, and this book was an immediate favourite for me. Some people have disliked the sequel, Husband Material, but I loved it just as much, and the third and final book is due to come out some time next year.

001. kaya & emery event: welcome home party @devouredxmuses
For a party she'd thrown with her friends, they certainly were no where to be seen. Whatever, the hellhound was perfectly comfortable having a good time on her own, and finding those to manipulate into having a good time with her. Who needed friends when it was oh so easy to gently encourage those around her?
She spotted an unfamiliar face and made her way across the room with a second red solo cup. She approached the man with an outstretched hand. "I don't think we've met before," she said with a coy smile. "And yet here you are, at my party."

To say Miray was confused when she heard a knock on her door would be an understatement. It wasn't very often that people turned up to her place without being invited or at least let her know they were on their way. If she'd known she was about to have company she probably would have put on more than the towel she had wrapped around her. As she opened the door she was even more confused to see Emery there. "The fuck are you doing at my house?" Miray blinked trying to think about anything she could have forgotten. "There's no need to be celebrating a dead Serpent. Have you seen the hellspawn that could take his place? That's not something to be excited about."
When? 9:54pm.
Where? Miray Aslan's Condo.
Who? @mirayaslan
Her best decisions were often impulses. Sneaky little thoughts would etch their way into her mind and she would have no choice but to act. There was no turning off the bulb once it lit up.
Tonight, her impulse lead her to the Crimson leader's doorway with no invitation on Miray's part. Bottle of wine in hand. It was the most expensive red the nearby liquor store carried. She knocked confidently, her knuckles practically sang a song as they banged against on the door. When it opened, Emery lifted her goods in the air. "We're celebrating tonight," she practically cheered. "I hear Pinot Noir pairs fantastically with a dead Serpent."

for @rosesdieinaweek ;; continued from HERE
“Oh, my god. Is that time already?” Emery chuckled at Christian’s confession. Even though they never dated and their relationship had stuck on some kind of friendship after hooking up, she knew just enough about his kids and since it had been a while since she caught up with Christian, Emery had forgotten about his daughter’s age. “How did you deal with it? Did her date pick her up? Did you give them the dad speech or it’s not your approach?” She asked teasingly. Being an only child, the closest kids in her life were her cousin’s whom she loved dearly but she never imagined herself having her own. “Anyway, whatever it is, I’m glad you made it here. It’s been a while since I’ve seen you mingle which makes me think there’s more to your presence than needing a distraction?” Emery asked with a smile, ever the business woman.

Emery and the Twins (Bea and Bennett) | The Frothy Monkey
Emery found little amusement in life anymore but the name a particular coffee shop downtown always made her lips quirk up slightly. It made it worth the trip through the throngs of people to get her regular latte and she'd taken to sitting at a table in the corner where she could easily watch the passing crowds. People watching, she did it often but humans these days never amounted to much so she grew bored easily. It led her eyes to wondering, gazing over the patrons of the shop while she dreamed up small backgrounds to fit each character around her. The vampire had been in the middle of doing just this when her eyes landed on young girl sitting with a boy of her age, the both of them seeming awfully familiar to her.
She had to admit, when she'd first been turned she had a hard time leaving her children behind. Every so often Emery would return to her old home to check in on them while staying in the shadows, much to the distaste of her lover, and she kept tabs as long as she could. As soon as they'd hit eighteen though she'd gave up on keeping them in her sights. Her lover had become impatient with the game and the twins had been old enough to take care of themselves should something happen but she had thought of them often over the years.
Now, looking at these two, she finally realized why they seemed so familiar as a memory of her last visit to her children came to mind. It couldn't be them though. They would be long dead at this point, right? But something was drawing Emery closer to them and soon enough she found herself standing next to their table staring at the angelic faces of her twin babies with wide eyes, all the while her heart feeling as if it were twittering for the first time since she'd truly been alive. Too bad that was impossible. "Beatrice? Bennett?"

@kindxofwoman asked 🔪 for a starter of my muse standing over a dead body from here.
The sledgehammer collided with his head and he fell to the floor with a loud thud, crimson blood slowly oozing out in a puddle around her shoes. It had been a spur of the moment kill, which frankly, most Emery’s kills were. While perhaps she wasn’t the most tactful killer, she was certainly a passionate one. Her gaze was locked on the still figure below her, enraptured with the way he lay there. Finally, she thought, some fucking peace and quiet. He had been a repeat customer at the bar she worked at; always coming in and stirring up trouble, always popping off at the mouth with some incessant rant. It was unbearable, everyone thought so. Truly she had done the world a favor. Unfortunately, Emery was so distracted by her own handiwork that she didn’t hear the footsteps until they were right in front of her. She looked up, dropping the hammer and plastered a faux look of fear on her face. “It’s not what it looks like I swear, he was going to hurt me. Please, you have to believe me,” she lied, mustering up tears to fall from her eyes.

traumvzine:
emery’s posture had changed a bit. her body straightened up as she moved herself from against the wall. “ you can’t offer to try and help me but not tell me how.” she was curious to say the least. luka and her talked here and there, but she wouldn’t quite consider her as a friend. it was almost hard to have friends in general with her partner’s line of work and his assailants being just as shady as himself. she would do anything to get out of the situation she was in. “ though how do i know i can trust you? and you’re not gonna go around my back and tell him?”
“ how do I know you’re not gonna go back and tell him? ” he questioned back slightly amused. she had every right not to trust him after everything she had been through, but rest-assured he didn’t move like that. “ trust me, i have no reason to go behind your back. what do I gain by doing that? ” he tried to explain, without revealing his own desires to leave the org. “ the offers out. if you take it fine. if not.. then fine. ”

@irresistiibles asked: “ I'm financially at a stage where I understand why people do fraud. ” (anden and lorelai)
"see, i've always leaned more towards a heist," lorelai deadpans. "but that could just be my desire to wear an ear pierce and refer to people by codenames."

EMAILS I CAN'T SEND STARTERS : ❛ you drive me crazy ❜ — @founderscouncil / hope ♥︎
❝ and how exactly do i do that? ❞ she asks, brows furrowed slightly in mock confusion as she drops onto the floor in front of the couch with the bottle of bourbon in her hand. ❝ i never do anything, ❞ she defends as she focuses opening the bottle. once it's opened she t i l t s her head back against the couch to look up to hope with raised brows as she adds, ticking off each item on the list with a finger, ❝ i mean, other than kick your ass, show you up, win bets ... i guess I could go on. ❞
her lips tilt into an a m u s e d smile and she lifts her head off the couch just enough to take a drink from the bottle before lifting it up in offering to hope. admittedly, emery was already pretty tipsy after their evening in their favorite sports bar. how she'd managed to keep enough concentration to win the game of darts was beyond her, but it meant that she won the bet which is all that mattered to her.

ੈ♡˳ ┊ @youngcvlture sent ' tap my muse on the shoulder to garner their attention. ' / from here
going out for shopping was monica's love language as it was a start for them to progress in their relationship. plus they used to do it all the time so why stop after a long over do talk about their status. letting emery pick out an outfit for her as she was honestly weak for the other's taste in fashion. pushing the curtains to the side, monica walked out form the dressing room to display the other's out choice. " em? " she questioned when the bags they had from a previous store was resting next to an ottoman. she walked around the corner to meet with the taller woman but noticed her back was turned to her, right before the dancer would gently tap her shoulder she took a moment to gawk at the beauty. " excuse me miss, it's illegal to look that good. "

001. maisie & emery location: benni's house @devouredxmuses
Maisie was overjoyed to receive a text message from Benni. She'd spent the last several days curled up in bed, refusing to leave. Even the soft comfort of her bed couldn't erase what she'd done. When looked down at her hands, she could still see the faint outline of blood, though it'd been washed off for good days ago. But Benni, that was one person Maisie could hang out with. A human (as far as she knew), so The Collective wouldn't have any reason to punish her this time around. And that's what she needed, really. To detach from all of this for just a second so she could be normal again. Not that normal was probably ever within her reach. But Benni always had ways of cheering her up, and needless to say, she needed that more than anything.
When she arrived at Benni's just a few minutes after six, she knocked on the door a few times before calling, "Benni?" When there was no reason, she reached for the door handle. It was open. And perhaps that should have been the first red flag, but Maisie was too blind by the idea of friendship to notice anything amiss. She stepped into the house and looked around. The lights were off, so she made her way across the room to the light switch, peering around the corner for her friend as she did so. "Benni, you there?" she asked again. Had she gotten the day wrong, the time?
