sick - hawthorne brothers
a/n: thank u sm for the request! this took far too long, sorry 😭 in this nash is 13, grayson is 10, jameson is 9, and xander is 8! wc: 896 masterlist
the boys stood in front of their grandfather's wooden desk, awaiting further instructions on that particular saturday morning game.
nash, who was standing behind his three younger brothers, was starting to get increasingly annoyed by someone’s particularly loud breathing.
he figured it was jameson, or possibly xander, but he was quickly proven wrong when he noticed grayson inhale deeply and then not exhale for a moment, relieving nash’s annoyance momentarily. nash wasn’t the only one who noticed; grayson was bothered too.
he was attempting to breathe less audibly through his blocked nose, or not breathe at all for far too long, to avoid irritating his grandfather and his brothers. but mostly, his grandfather.
soon enough, jameson, standing to grayson’s right, caught on. he didn’t say anything, not in front of the old man.
“is there something wrong with you?” jameson directed the question at grayson, the table holding all four brothers as they played cards. “you’ve been sounding like a wheezing goat all morning.”
“no.” grayson denied the fact that he was sick, along with the claim that he sounded like a goat.
“yes, there is. you’re sick,” jameson replied in a sing-song voice.
“no, i’m not. i have something stuck in my throat.”
“grayson’s sick?!” xander, aged 8, exclaimed, clearly worried for his brother's wellbeing.
“i’m not. i was clearing my throat.”
“you were clearing your throat for three days?” xander replied, and jameson snorted. “i don’t wanna get sick from you! be mindful of your surroundings!” perhaps xander was more worried for his own wellbeing.
“you’ve been sick for three days and haven’t told anyone?” the oldest hawthorne brother finally spoke up, silencing his younger two brothers.
“please, let’s just continue the game,” grayson ignored them as he put a card down. he looked up at his brothers expectantly with raised eyebrows, then jameson exhaled, muttering something unintelligible, and put a card down.
a few minutes later, grayson crossed his arms over his chest and huffed. a red flush started creeping up from his neck to his face, and it was painfully obvious he was holding in a cough. his brothers shared a look, while he tried to act unbothered.
jameson looked over at grayson when he heard a strangled grunt from his side.
“gray… are you constipated or something? what going on with that face?”
later on that night, jameson brought his brother soup, water, fruits, and other comforting things he knew grayson would like up to his room. “the old man told me to bring you these.”
grayson was sitting at his desk reading, his room dimly lit by low lights.
the old man didn’t tell him to do anything, they both knew that.
“thank you.”
after a beat of silence, grayson spoke up again. his eyes were trained on his book, but he was no longer reading. “i’m not that sick, you know.”
“are you saying what i think you’re saying?” the teasing was evident in jamesons tone, the previous softness nowhere to be found.
“wh-“ jamesons crooked smile only grew larger.
“are you, grayson hawthorne, admitting, that you are actually sick?”grayson took a deep breath, and jameson practically saw him mentally count to ten. he grinned at that. “thank you for the stuff jamie, you can go and get out now.” he didn't state that as a question.
“no can do,” he responded simply as he walked out of the room.
grayson’s eyebrows furrowed. no can do? he literally just walked out of the— his thoughts were quickly cut off when jameson brought even more things to the room. among sweet and savory snacks they were not allowed to have in the house, there was a projector.
he left again, saying no words, this time bringing endless pillows and blankets in one hand, and bringing a beaming xander behind him who couldn’t stop smiling.
“movie night! movie night! movie night!” the youngest hawthorne kept chanting. and lastly, nash walked in and took it upon himself to lay down on grayson’s bed. "what movie are we feeling today?"
by 3am, grayson’s room was in a state it never is — messy, and the light chatter of “Fight Club” playing in the background was long forgotten. the boys were all asleep in grayson’s king-sized bed. all except grayson himself. he lay there, staring at the ceiling.
grayson he hated receiving help, it made him feel incapable. it made him feel like he was disappointing the old man. today was an exception. he wouldn’t admit it but, he was glad jameson didn’t leave when he told him to.
“you don’t have to pretend you’re okay when you’re not, you know?”
jamesons voice abruptly startled him out of his thoughts, as if thinking about him summoned him to speak.
“i know.” grayson replied calmly into the dark. his brother was laying horizontally at the other end of the bed.
“you’re our brother, you’re my brother.” i love you, we care about you, more than you know.
“i know.” he echoed. i love you, even if i don’t show it. i have to deal with it myself, or else i wouldn’t not good enough. not perfect.
nothing more was said. they understood every word they said, and the ones that were left unsaid. the ones that could only be translated by each other.
they fell asleep, and the only thing that could be heard now was the light snores of nash, and of course, grayson’s heavy breathing.

Hi!! First, I love your work. Especially for the Marines.
Second I saw requests were open so I decided to shoot my shot.
Admirals (any admiral you want to write for) trying to get their s/o to return Sengoku’s goat, like reader of fed up not getting cuddles from their busy admiral partner so has stolen the goat for cuddles and is refusing to give it back.
I just thought it was a cute idea. And now that I think about it I can’t remember the name of Sengoku’s goat.
Anyway, you are amazing, stay hydrated and I hope you have a nice day.
Marine Admirals React to You Harboring Sengoku’s Goat
Characters: Akainu, Kizaru, Fujitora
Taglist: @portalzoneschaos
This was so adorable to think about, I hope it wrote it right though. Thank you so much for being here and requesting, Have a nice day and be safe. <3
Akainu | Sakazuki
• At first he would disregard your reasoning behind stealing Sengokus goat, his first instinct is to chide you and get you to return it but much to his surprise, you don’t listen, and simply turn away to coddle the animal closer to you.
“ I said you need to give it back. “
You could feel heat of his devil fruit begin to fill the room at your refusal of his command. He stood with arms folded over his chest, the tightness of his teeth clenching together creating a grating noise.
“ And I said no! Just because you don’t get lonely doesn’t mean I don’t! “ The brash tone of your voice as you asserted yourself shocked him, and briefly his brows unfurled before he knelt down. He was silent, watching as you hid your face and only held the animal closer and coiled into a tight ball on your bed.
“ Use your words. Tell me what’s wrong. “ He spoke in a firm tone, but you knew he was trying to decode your behavior. Sometimes he was just emotionally constipated..
“ I’m lonely. You’re always gone and.. I miss you. “ Your tone dropped at the end and transitioned to a mumble, barely audible which made his frown deepen. You fought not to make eye contact when he didn’t respond, but got sidetracked when his hand softly pushed through your locks as he leaned down to leave a kiss.
“ I know I don’t have much time on my hands. There’s not much I can do about it. So how can I fix it? “ He sat attentively in front of you now, legs crossed and hands resting on his knees as he watched you sit up.
“Well.. maybe you could make allotted times to call me.. I miss your voice a lot.” You timidly spoke as your hands fidgeted at the request, bracing yourself for another excuse only for him to briefly nod.
“ I’ll look at my schedule and work it in. That way, it’s not impacting work and we have some form of time together. Is that fair ? “
“ … Yes. “
“ Good…. Now please get the goat off of our bed and out of the house. “
Kizaru | Borsalino
• Gets jealous of the goat-
• He would profusely apologize to you for being so busy, and obviously he would feel alittle guilty, but his Justice means that when he’s told to do something he does it. So in many ways work comes first, however….. he offers you something to help ease your anxiety about being alone.. ;)
The house was dark as usual when Kizaru slipped in, his coat slung over his shoulder and hand grazing the back of his neck as he rubbed it in fatigue. He almost managed to sit on you until a warning bleat startled him from his thoughts, and you from your slumber.
“ Shh !! “ You soothed the goat, rubbing its neck as you looked up to the source of its panic. Kizaru stood motionless, sighing deeply as he pushed the glasses back up that slipped to the tip of his nose from gazing down at you.
“ Why is there a goat on the couch? “
“ Because he was wandering around and looked lonely, and he pays more attention to me then you do. “ You muttered the last part, smiling when Kizarus hand playfully ruffled your hair.
He took a seat beside you, his smile growing when you curled into his side and hugged him, relieved at finally getting to feel him next to you. When you did manage to get attention it was in the later hours of the night, only to wake up again to the vacant spot next to you in the early mornings. It wasn’t easy being an Admirals spouse, in fact it was alittle lonely at times. But there were tid bits of moments where you were inseparable, and all you could do was appreciate each others presence.
This was one of them.
“ I miss you so much throughout the day. It’s so.. lonely here, the house is huge and it feels like I’m just some tiny bug.. “ A sigh breezed past your lips and you leaned into the warmth of his shoulder as he hummed in response, wrapping an arm around you as he leaned in to kiss your head.
He remained silent, his hand absentmindedly stroking your hair until he spoke.
“ … I could always get you pregnant- “
“ BORSALINO ? “ You shouted in confusion and astonishment, immediately pulling away which had startled the goat who bolted from the couch. A low, sultry chuckle escaped his lips as he rested his head on the back of the couch agian and closed his eyes, spreading his wing span along the top of the furniture.
“ Just a thought.. “
Fujitora | Issho
• I feel he would honestly be alittle sad that he let you get so lonely, his poor heart would break at the thought of you feeling so alone that you needed to focus your attention on something else.
• His solution would most likely be buying a pet <3
When he arrived home he noted how quiet it was while slipping his shoes off. As he traveled deeper into your home he heard you stifle a small sniffle, which immediately broke his heart in two.
“ Oh my poor dear, “ He reached out to touch you only to feel horns and a soft furry face that began to snuff at his fingers. You couldn’t help but laugh when he retracted quickly, his eyes opening with a visibly disturbed look appearing on his face.
When you made room for him to sit he instead pulled you into his lap and cupped your face. The feeling of the course pads of his thumbs running along your cheeks made them flush and you unconsciously leaned into his touch, tears subconsciously falling and collecting on his hands.
“ Poor thing.. I know I haven’t been home in so long.. how did you even manage to get uh… did you get a pet ? “
“ It’s Sengokus goat.. I’m not gonna give it back until you promise me I won’t be lonely anymore.. “ You shakily spoke, eyes still closed as he leaned in to kiss your forehead and wipe the tears that flowed away.
“ … Well.. I can’t guarantee that you won’t have moments alone.. So how about this, let’s go buy a pet. That way, when I’m away, you have someone to wait with. “
“ Any pet I want ? “
“ Any pet you want… just not Sengoku’s. “

For those who have moved north in recent years and are still grappling with the warmer conditions, Jerry offers a class in Sub-tropical Gardening 101.
The weather:
Just because you’ve moved to the warm sub-tropics, doesn’t mean you’ll no longer get frosts! And while there’s plenty of sunshine, summer rainfall can be patchy and erratic.
There are two main seasons: warm and cool.
* Warm runs from December to March and it’s generally wetter. Rainfall can be short and heavy.
* The cool season runs from May to November and that’s generally drier, with lower temperatures and less humidity.
Soil: Jerry recommends adding compost to the soil whenever sowing or planting to help combat these seasonal shifts. And always cover the soil with mulch to capture and store seasonal downfalls. Jerry uses chopped sugar cane.
Starchy staples - potatoes can rot or wither in Brisbane, so Jerry grows yams, arrowroot, sweet potatoes and bananas instead.
He recommends sweet potato and an easy plant for beginners; plant in a raised bed for good drainage, then feed monthly and water sparingly. Watch for grasshoppers and lift all your crop at harvest to avoid leaving food for weavils. Crop rotation avoids reinfestation, too. Plant in spring for harvest after 3-4 months. Don’t forget the new shoots are edible, too!
Leafy greens can go to seed quickly in the heat. They do best in the cool season but sowing for succession harvests helps, too. Jerry grows a range of greens, including Ethiopian cabbage, leeks, sweet leaf, kings salad, and herbs.
A good starter for beginners is celtuce, which tastes like a cross between celery and lettuce. As well as using the leaves, the stems can be peeled, sliced and stir-fried.
Fruit trees - Jerry says you need at least one exotic sub-tropical fruit and his pick is the papaya. You can eat the ripe fruit, make a lovely green papaya salad, the seed relieves constipation and the chopped leaves have a peppery taste. Treat as short-term perennials and replace every 2-3 years. To avoid fruit fly, pick the fruit green and ripen it indoors.
Tomatoes - in the subtropics the seed should be sown in March for planting in April or May because they grow better in the dry season. This also helps avoid fruit fly attack - until late September, at least. Grow cherry tomatoes to reduce the risk of caterpillar attack.
Frangipani - a sub-tropical must-have. Don’t limit yourself to the old-fashioned white flowers - there are hundreds of cultivars that will grow in the sub tropics, so enjoy them and the different fragrances they bring. They need full sun and excellent drainage. Feed with a slow-release fertiliser that’s high in phosphorous and potassium twice a year: in spring and summer.
Featured plants:
Winged yam (Dioscorea alata)
Banana (Musa cv.)
Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas cv.)
Bok choy (Brassica rapa cv.)
Ethopian cabbage (Brassica carinata)
Leek (Allium ampeloprasum cv.)
* Sweet leaf (Breynia androgyna)
* Kings salad (Cosmos caudatus)
Rice Paddy Herb (Limnophila aromatica)
Fish Mint (Houttuynia cordata)
*La Lot (Piper sarmentosum)
Celtuce (Lactuca sativa cv.)
*Papaya (Carica papaya cv.)
Tomato ‘Grosse Lisse’ (Solanum lycopersicum cv.)
Frangipani (Plumeria cv.)
* Always check species before planting; they may be environmental weeds in your area.

'𝖄𝖔𝖚𝖗 𝖂𝖎𝖑𝖉𝖊𝖘𝖙 𝕯𝖗𝖊𝖆𝖒𝖘' 𝕯𝖗𝖊𝖆𝖒𝖜𝖔𝖗𝖐 𝕮𝖍𝖆𝖑𝖑𝖊𝖓𝖌𝖊
Dreamwork is a powerful mystical practice for enhancing your perspective of reality, quality of your life, and imaginative abilities by bringing awareness to the content of your dreams.
This challenge intends to bring each participant into greater attunement with their dream worlds. This, then, allows increased ease in trusting your intuition, being bold enough to dream and manifest, creating more beauty and mystique to your life, catalyzing the healing of inner traumas and limiting beliefs, as well as just to developing an understanding of your own multidimensionality. (For more on developing your imagination/3rd eye, see here).
The challenge will span from July 21st to September 14th 2023 (offering 2 full months of skill development), and it is open to the public. However, I'm sharing details and guidance are available exclusively on Patron, such as a downloadable dream journal (cover page pictured above) & nighttime routine tips. Of course, you may take on the challenge at whatever date you like.
The Challenge Tasklist (see the more detailed version here):
Week 1: Recording Your Dreams: This is to gain a sense of familiarity with your dream worlds. Notice what kinds of themes come up. Notice how you tend to act. Notice what kinds of characters come up. Notice the locations. Each morning or after each slumber (naps included), your task will be to immediately write down your dream with as much detail as possible. Dream log pages are provided in the downloadable dream journal.
Week 2: Enhancing Your Inputs (Part 1): Emotional constipation, or blockages in your astral body, can be caused by lifestyle. You will be encouraged to approach your choices of food, music, pastimes, entertainment, etc. in a way that will let the energy in your astral body thrive. For example, signs of a healthier astral body include a slower (low stress) lifestyle, healthy communication, greater mindfulness, positive self-talk and self-esteem, healthy detachment, restful sleep, and, of course, more lucid dreams. Tasks will include certain meal upgrades, because digestive situations can be a major hindrance to optimal sleep quality, dream recall, and emotional processing (due to the gut-brain relationships).
Week 3: Moment to Moment Awareness: One of the major reasons why we are unable to continue consciousness into our dream states is that we lack true consciousness when we're awake, particularly of our emotional states. Remaining aware of how your emotions shift and how you're being emotionally affected by your perspectives & circumstances will allow you to remain in present moment awareness. The daily task will be to develop your awareness, just in the way that children tend towards, never attached too long to your emotional circumstances, without dismissing them.
Week 4: Dream Herbs: Certain herbs are able to enhance dreams, relax the nervous system, and strengthen meditative awareness. These will be employed in our challenge so that we can experience this relationship. Tasks will include different ways of working with the herbs, such as implementing a tea time.
Week 5: Visualization Boost: A large component of dreams are the visual component. Many people lately, with their constant attention to screens and stories in visual form (TV, videos, movies, etc), struggle to realize what their imaginations look like in particular. The tasks will include a series of meditations and methods of connecting to your own imaginal realm.
Week 6: Enhancing Your Inputs (Part 2): Further emotional/astral blockages will be able to be relieved by more lifestyle shifts. Tasks will include spending time on more fruitful hobbies, choosing & creating habits that fill your cup rather than deplete your energy, and working with the elements daily.
Week 7: Digital Detox: Eliminate some aspect of technology in some way. Maybe you will refuse to use your phone for the first two hours of the day, take a break from social media, take a rest from social media overall, or use the internet purely for uplifting content. A serious period of meditation may even be implemented. Whatever you do, that will be your task of discipline so that you can connect deeper to your imaginal realms.
Week 8: Constructing Your Imaginal World: You've gotten a good picture of your dream worlds now. It's time to integrate that so that you thoroughly bring up the value of your dreams. Tasks will encourage you to bring a deeper sense to your imaginal world, so that you have a deep interest of navigating it and learning from it, just as the physical world we're already all aware of. You may find that, in the process, you get a deeper sense of who you are multidimensionally, based on your skills, actions, and interactions in the astral plane. You may find communication with benevolent spirits, ancestors, elemental beings, creatures, pets, and so on.

What is irritable bowel syndrome, what are the symptoms, and how is it treated?
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a common digestive illness affecting millions of people throughout the world. It is a disorder that affects the large intestine and can cause various symptoms such as stomach pain, bloating, and bowel habit changes.IBS can be difficult to treat, but understanding the symptoms and treatment choices can help people find relief and improve their quality of life.
Get Knowledge about IBS Being a functional gastrointestinal disorder, irritable bowel syndrome affects how the gut works as opposed to creating structural harm. Although the precise causation of IBS is unknown, some factors are thought to be involved. These include abnormal muscle contractions in the intestine, inflammation, and changes in the gut microbiome. Stress and certain foods can also trigger or exacerbate IBS symptoms.
Diet Tips for Dealing with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) can be particularly helpful in managing this condition. While IBS varies from person to person, some common triggers include dairy products, high-fat foods, caffeine, and alcohol. Identifying and avoiding these triggers is crucial for effective IBS treatment.
Symptoms of IBS
The symptoms of IBS can vary widely but typically include:
Abdominal Pain and Cramping: This is often relieved by bowel movements and can range from mild to severe.
Bloating: Many people with IBS experience a feeling of fullness or swelling in the abdomen.
Bowel Habits Changes: IBS can result in constipation, diarrhea, or a combination of the two.
Gas: Increased flatulence is another common symptom.
Mucus in Stool: Some people notice mucus in their stool, which is not usually present in healthy bowel movements.
It’s important to note that while IBS can be uncomfortable and disruptive, it does not cause permanent damage to the intestines or increase the risk of serious conditions like cancer.
IBS Treatment Options
Managing IBS effectively involves a combination of lifestyle changes, dietary adjustments, and sometimes medication. Here’s a comprehensive look at the various approaches to IBS treatment:
1. Dietary Changes
One of the most effective ways to manage IBS is by modifying your diet. Here are some dietary tips that can help alleviate symptoms:
Low-FODMAPS Diet: Less consumption of foods high in fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols is recommended when following the Low-FODMAP diet. This diet has been shown to significantly improve IBS symptoms for many people. Foods for IBS and IBS-friendly recipes are key components of this approach.
Increase Fiber Intake: For those with IBS-C (constipation-predominant), increasing dietary fiber can help improve bowel movements. Foods like oats, fruits, and vegetables are excellent sources of fiber. High-fiber foods and a fiber-rich diet can aid in managing IBS-C.
Limit Trigger Foods: Identifying and avoiding foods that trigger symptoms is crucial. Common triggers include dairy products, fatty foods, and caffeine.
Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water can help with digestion and prevent constipation.
2. Medications
Several medications can be used to manage IBS symptoms, depending on whether you experience IBS-D (diarrhea-predominant), IBS-C (constipation-predominant), or a mix of both. Some options include:
Antispasmodics: The medicines work to relax the muscles in the stomach to reduce pain and cramping in the abdomen.
Laxatives: For IBS-C, laxatives can help promote regular bowel movements.
Anti-Diarrheal Medications: For IBS-D, medications like loperamide can help reduce diarrhea.
Fiber Supplements: Adding fiber supplements can help manage symptoms of IBS-C by providing additional bulk to stool.
3. Probiotics
Probiotics are good bacteria that can aid in reestablishing the gut microbiome's equilibrium. Some studies suggest that certain strains of probiotics can improve IBS symptoms by reducing bloating and pain. Probiotic foods like yogurt, kefir, and probiotic supplements are good sources of these beneficial bacteria.
4. Psychological Therapies
Since stress and anxiety can exacerbate IBS symptoms, psychological therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and stress management techniques can be beneficial. These therapies help individuals cope with stress and can improve their overall quality of life.
5. Lifestyle Modifications
A few lifestyle modifications, together with food and medication therapies, can help control IBS:
Daily Workout: Regular exercise can help control bowel movements and lower stress levels. Exercise for gut health is an excellent way to support digestion.
Adequate Sleep: Ensuring you get enough sleep is essential for overall health and can help manage IBS symptoms. Sleep and gut health are closely linked.
Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques: Practices such as yoga, meditation, and deep breathing exercises can help reduce stress and improve gut health.
Tips for Managing IBS
Managing IBS requires a personalized approach, as what works for one person may not work for another. Here are some more suggestions for dealing with IBS:
Keep a Food Diary: Tracking your food intake and symptoms can help identify specific triggers and patterns.
Consult with a Dietitian: A registered dietitian can help you develop a personalized eating plan and guide you through the Low FODMAP diet if necessary.
Stay Consistent: Consistency in dietary and lifestyle changes is key to managing IBS effectively.
Communicate with Your Healthcare Provider: Regular consultations with your healthcare provider can help adjust your treatment plan as needed.
Conclusion
Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a manageable condition that can significantly impact the quality of life if left untreated. Understanding the symptoms and exploring various IBS treatment options can help you find relief and improve your well-being. By making informed dietary choices, considering medications and probiotics, and adopting lifestyle changes, you can manage IBS more effectively and lead a healthier life.
Remember, if you suspect you have IBS or are struggling to manage your symptoms, it’s essential to consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice and treatment. You may take charge of your digestive health and improve your quality of life with the appropriate strategy.

Gentile. | Chapter 23
Matthew's intel appears to be trustworthy. The condition of your sister-in-law worsens.
Chapter list
A whisper lives amongst the soldiers about a woman from the Red Quarter who used to wreak havoc in the area. She was incurable, according to Marcus, whom you overheard talking to one of his peers. Until Nicodemus visited her for a while, and a few days later, she had seemingly cleared up. It was all you knew and all you’d ever know about it, for she was no longer an issue for the Roman Empire.
You’re busy mulling over this story, for you find it most interesting as to how this woman came to be the way she was and what prompted her to be the way she is now, when Quintus stomps inside with a typical pout on his face, pinching his bottom lip in between his thumb and index finger in annoyance. “Need to see that tax collector,” he snaps at the captain, “Matthew. Go fetch him now.”
The man in question rushes off at the command and you put aside your embroidery work – the mundane, uninspired stitches that had been intended to somehow resemble a golden eagle – standing to head for the bathroom and hoping to avoid your husband’s rampage, for that look on his face can mean only one thing. “What is going on?” you query, and he sharply looks at you, eyes somewhat softening.
Sighing, Quintus approaches you to put a hand on your stomach, a gesture that makes you want to slap him away, but you hold yourself back. “Simon, that one fisherman who has agreed to point us to merchants in exchange for gratis. It seems that he has deceived me. However, I’m not certain of it… Yet.”
You hum and put a hand on his chest. “Don’t make any hasty decisions, Quintus.”
“Of course not,” he huffs, “I never do.”
“Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to relieve myself.”
Your husband hums and releases you. The brief interaction has appeared to calm his nerves and he shifts into his usual smug and narcissistic self, and turns to the window as you leave the room.
More and more pregnancy-related ailments surface, with bloating and constipation causing regular trips to the outhouse as well as random bouts of heartburn. Quintus is of no comfort and you miss the familiar warmth of Atticus’ arms, wishing that he was around to share this with, both the delights and the struggles.
When you return, Matthew has just arrived and is shoved in front of Quintus’ desk, who stands with his back turned. You brush past him and give the publicanus an almost invisible smile as your husband reveals why he has been summoned.
“The fruit here is incredible. Pomegranates, dates, figs, berries... The olives. Everything that grows here is immaculate. My wife can attest to that.” He slowly turns, a look of disgust on his face. “ Except the people. You're such a miserable lot. You worship one God, and yet, you're all divided. You see, people complain we Romans run the world, but I know a dirty secret.”
Quintus grins, pausing briefly as Matthew leans forward in expectation of the answer. “You people want to be ruled. You want an excuse to complain. It's part of your nature. Do you understand that, Matthew?”
Your gut clenches at his words and you crawl into your seat at the discomfort of the insinuation. Matthew shrugs. “I–I don’t know.”
“No, you wouldn't.” Quintus scoffs with a laugh, “Oh, you're a single-minded machine. These things are beneath you. Where’s your escort?”
“He didn't want to enter.” Matthew explains, “He feels that my lack of social graces–”
“He thinks you’ll get him killed.” deduces your husband, and Matthew affirms the suggestion.
Quintus’ eyes flicker over to both you and the captain and laughs as if the tax collector has just said something hilarious.
“Not today, Matthew, no. Ha… Today, I am in need.”
Approaching his desk, Quintus smirks.
“You heard me right. I am in need of your machine.”
Matthew doesn’t seem to quite pick up what he means. “My machine?”
“Your mind, Matthew, keep up. You might have been right about Simon. He double-crossed me… Maybe. Probably .” Your husband unfurls a roll of parchment and reads it over as he continues the clarification, “Truth is, I don't have many seaworthy troops here. It might have been an accident.”
Matthew frowns. “D-Dominus?”
“Follow Simon.” Quintus commands. “I want to know where he goes. With whom he meets. Tell me what they're talking about. What he's drinking, anything.”
“The latter may prove difficult.” Matthew stutters, “In fact, all of what you request, Dominus, may prove difficult.”
Pacing around the table, Quintus halts in front of him. “But you're a resourceful man. Goal-oriented.”
Matthew hesitates. “I am not… Accepted.”
“Where?” Quintus presses.
“ Anywhere .” Matthew says. “I’m a tax collector.”
The Praetor raises his brow. “Viewed with jealousy.”
“ Hated .” Matthew counters. “Everyone hates tax collectors. We're worse than the Romans.”
The sword on the captain’s hip sings when it’s partially unsheathed and your breath catches in your throat, but before it escalates, Matthew adds: “You were born a Roman. I made the choice.” It slides back into the sheath.
A brief pause as Quintus thinks over the words before he steps back to grab an empty clay slab. “So go in disguise, I don’t care. You can write, can’t you?”
Nodding, Matthew affirms this as your husband hands him the empty tablet.
“Write everything, every detail. Is your booth protected?”
“Yes, Dominus. My dog guards it while I'm away.”
A laugh tears itself from Quintus’ throat. “Oh, Matthew, you are a priceless treasure.” he sighs whilst sitting down on his chair and leaning back, “ Of course you have a dog.” Matthew shifts awkwardly whilst your husbands sighs, nodding at the captain.
“You’re dismissed. Bring him back to his booth.”
Now left with just Quintus, you take the embroidery work back into your lap as he turns to you.
“What are your thoughts on him?”
“On whom?” you feign ignorance.
“On Matthew.”
You swallow thickly and pretend to overthink it for a moment. “He seems very capable of what he does.”
“He’s special, isn’t he?” Quintus muses, “A very intelligent young man.”
Blinking a few times, you try to find the right words. “Quintus, I… I feel bad for him…” First, he grins, but it falls when he realises that you’re being serious.
“How so?”
“Well, he obviously doesn't have a lot of knowledge about how the world works and he doesn't sound like he is received well amongst his people. What if he gets hurt?”
Your husband lets out a noise and rolls his eyes. “Oh, (Y/n), darling, why would you care about him? At the end of the day, it's a Jew . Probably your pregnancy hormones speaking,” he gestures towards your belly, “You just want to be friends with everyone, don’t you? I’ve seen you chat with Gaius every once in a while, taking pity on the old sod?”
Huffing, you put a hand on your hip, “Well, I know for a fact that he’s working very hard to be a good father for his son.”
“He has a son?” Quintus queries, genuinely surprised.
Your face falls into a sad frown. “He is.”
Quintus hums and mindlessly takes an olive from the bowl on his desk. “Oh. You learn something new every day, then.” His indifference irks you.
Before you can explain more about Gaius – and hopefully plant the seed of him getting more involved with the personal lives of the men under his command – the secretary walks in with an apologetic look on his face. “Dominus, there is someone from the synagogue to see you, sir.”
“Someone from the synagogue?” Quintus huffs, “A Pharisee?”
“Two of them, Dominus.”
Quintus gives you a look from the corner of his eye. “What do they want?”
“They have a very pressing request and told me that it was a matter of life and death.”
The Praetor stands and folds his hands on his back. “I have heard that one before, but very well. Send them in.”
Uncertain of what to do, you drape your stole over your head to cover your hair, for you have seen Jewish women do the same. Quintus raises an eyebrow at you but doesn’t question it, straightening his back to appear taller than he is as two men clad in black and white enter the chamber.
“Praetor, we must speak to you, it’s about—”
“Pause. Who are you and who do you think you are barging into my office without a formal inquiry?”
The Pharisee scoffs and seems agitated as is, looking at your husband with an almost pleading expression. “My name is Yanni, and this is Shmuel. We are Rabbis at the local synagogue, sir– Ah, Dominus .” explains the other, way calmer than his colleague, “We must insist you hear us out, for we fear that it might pose a threat to you as well.”
You force back a sound that threatens to crawl its way up your throat – it seems naught but a means to pique your husband’s attention, but he seems to buy it for now, deciding to hear them out.
“Explain to me then, why you deem it necessary to interrupt the order we hold in such high regard around here.”
The Rabbi named Shmuel steps forward as Quintus heads to his desk, though soon halts in his step as your husband gives him a warning glare.
“It has to do with a very radical individual who spews utter nonsense on the outskirts of Capernaum.”
Quintus shrugs. “And? There are plenty of people around here who possess that trait, so that does not surprise me and does not deserve my attention. Now, leave this room before I send my–”
“Dominus,” Shmuel is brave enough to cut him off, “He has been proclaiming many absurdities about the Messiah and the people are getting restless. We must implore you to arrest this man so that the Sanhedrin can question him.”
Your husband’s face drops into one of more concern. “You’re speaking of the radicalist I’ve been hearing about?” he queries with a raised eyebrow, “And you are asking this of me under what appeal? Did Nicodemus request this?”
Yanni speaks up now. “No, Dominus. The two of us urge you to take him into custody regardless of who ordered it. That heretic is causing anarchy amongst our people, which will lead to rebellion against the Roman Empire, eventually.”
Quintus contemplates it for a long moment, seemingly weighing his options.
“Very well.” he whispers, much to your surprise, “Give my men his location and they’ll get it sorted out.”
“Thank you, Dominus.” Shmuel breathes, rushing out of the room with his colleague in tow.
The silence that follows takes about a minute before Quintus speaks up. “A weed,” he says, “To be exterminated. It will give Nicodemus some pressure to get his kind to stop fishing on Shabbat to avoid taxation.”
“They just said that they were not here at his behest.” you tell him. Your husband exhales sharply and shrugs.
“That does not matter. He’ll come around, do the hard work for us, so you’ve got nothing to worry about, my love.”
Quintus sits whilst you grab your embroidery into your lap to work on one of the wings of the bird that is coming together less neat than you had hoped for. With a rustle of parchment, your husband sits in relative silence apart from the occasional displeased huff or surprised hum as he sorts out his paperwork. It leaves you room to sort out your thoughts; whether you should write to Atticus or not, for you do miss him dearly and it has been two, three weeks now since you’ve last heard from him. Your pregnancy is about to roll into either the eighteenth or nineteenth week – you’ve lost track – and you simply wish he was here.
“Dominus, a tel—”
“What now?!” Quintus barks at the secretary appearing on the threshold. The man in question stares at him wide-eyed, swallowing thickly.
“A telegram arrived from Rome, Dominus.”
Your heart sinks. With an exasperated sigh, Quintus stands to take it from him and sends the man off with a wave of his hand. As quickly as you can, you stand to join his side, but he has broken the familiar seal before you can stop him.
His eyes flit over the paper before he tosses it in your direction with dismissive neglect. “Your brother’s wife's condition is worsening. No baby yet.”
The apathy in his voice makes you sick to your stomach as you take the parchment with trembling fingers. No word about your pregnancy, so this must have been sent out posthaste before Quintus’ letter could arrive, and your brother’s wavering hand stares at you from the paper.
“My dear sister, I am frightened. The condition of Valeria keeps deteriorating and I fear for her life. Keep her in your prayers, we’ve got the best doctors on it. They don’t know what it might be. I need to go now, I’ll write to you soon. Lucius.”
You don’t even realise you are crying until you feel how wet your cheeks are. Quintus sighs and gives you a roll of his eye before walking over to you. “I know what you’re thinking and the answer is no, you are not going to Rome. There is nothing you can do, (Y/n). Too bad. If that woman manages to pull through, then that would be good for them. If not, we will hear it soon enough.”
Sniffling, you rub your nose on your sleeve and stare at him in disbelief. “Am I not allowed to visit my own brother?”
“Not now,” he snaps back, “Later, when all the unrest has cleared and you’re healthy enough to travel that far, which I highly doubt.” He gestures at your stomach and plops back down in his chair. “And even though I’m sure that you’re sad about your sister-in-law’s condition, I really need to continue on with these archives. I keep getting disturbed and I just can’t use you right now.”
His unsympathetic attitude was nothing new, but you feel your throat tighten regardless at his words. You grab your belongings and stomp away, ignoring the way he grunts your name in annoyance as if you’re an impish toddler who he is about to give an earful, heading to the only place you’ve deemed safe enough to let go.
In the comforts of your personal study, you release your sorrow and concerns.
It has been a long time since you’ve cried this much, but it feels good to get it off your chest.
_
The day after, there hangs tension in the air – not only between you and Quintus, but also in Capernaum in general.
You cannot pay attention to the rumours that go around, for you’ve got enough on your mind as is. You catch shreds of information here and there. A miraculous catch of fish just off shore at the Sea of Galilee – the vessel in question almost toppled – a strange Man being behind it all. Whereas it would have usually intrigued you, your mind is currently preoccupied with your sister-in-law.
“Please, Quintus,” you breathe for the fifth time this morning. He gives you a miffed glance and rolls his eyes, “I must visit Rome. Please .”
He rubs his eyes with one palm and leans back in his chair. “You’ve got no idea, have you? What happened this morning? I’ve got the tax turnover of the century and all you can whine about is that stupid woman and her baby. You should be glad that I’m in such a good mood today because I might consider it provided you won’t get on my nerves. Which is going to be hard for you because my patience is already thin.”
Nothing seemed to please him anymore, not even the amount of money that has been presented to him. Simon, although he seemed to be facing an arrest on the charges of conspiring against the Roman Empire, has paid off all his debts in one go as well as those of his brother. It was the bane of Quintus’ annoyance, but even though it seems to be cleared, towards you he seems to carry that same sentiment he held yesterday. You aren’t sure what has gotten into him to hold something against you out of the blue, but he seems suspicious, which is odd. After all, you haven’t been in contact with Atticus for weeks.
“Good girl.” he huffs at your silence. You shrink in your chaise longue, which has grown more uncomfortable over the course of your pregnancy for you’d rather walk around to keep your legs strong enough, but Quintus won’t just let you out of the house.
“The centurion and the publicanus are here, Dominus.” the voice of the secretary sounds.
Quintus shifts and bends over his paperwork again, reading through the files. “Send them in.”
You sigh and attempt to relax with the book in your lap, but naturally, your attention is drawn to the scene next to you. Slight curiosity tugs at you as to how Simon has managed to pay off all this money. You wonder if the vague rumours you’ve heard have anything to do with it.
Matthew fiddles with his handkerchief as he walks in at Gaius’ side, who hails and stands straight as Quintus huffs an impressed sound.
“Remarkable. For the first time in a year, quarterly collections will have exceeded Pilate's projections. And if the fishermen are no longer fishing on Shabbat…” He smugly tosses an olive into the air and catches it in his mouth whilst wearing a grin that you despise on him, reflecting his self-satisfied character.
“Have an olive, Matthew.” your husband states, sliding the bowl over to the tax collector in question, “You’ve earned it.”
“Thank you, Dominus.” Matthew mutters, awkwardly reaching out to take one of the salty fruits into the handkerchief.
“Simon the Cheat. Simon the Fraud. Simon… The guy who delivered when it mattered most.” Quintus’ smile falls into a slight gasp, “I wonder if there's a way to make him do it again.”
Matthew stutters in puzzlement. “I-It wasn’t Simon, Dominus.”
The Praetor ignores him. “What if I told him it wasn't enough? He obviously performs well under pressure, and I do have a… Knack for creating stakes.”
With a slight shake of his head, Matthew attempts to clarify: “Simon wasn't responsible for this, Dominus.”
“Oh, I don't care who he conscripts into his schemes.” your husband lets him know.
“Forgive me, Dominus, if my report was unclear. There was a man–”
Quintus cuts him off. “Yes, you're a fine reporter, Matthew, but you're also a bit of a rube. I read your report. It's clear Simon and his accomplice tricked you.”
“But there were others–”
“ Accomplices , fine.”
A brief pause as Matthew seeks the words, confusion clear on his features.
“To what end?”
“Who can say?” Quintus immediately counters. “Maybe Simon wanted the other fishermen off his back. You said yourself, word of his disloyalty had spread, or maybe to spook anyone who'd fish on Shabbat. He is a wily one.”
Matthew fumbles. “The fishermen have taken notice.”
“It couldn't have worked out better.” Your husband briefly pauses, tilting his head at the agitated looking Matthew. “Don't tell me you're spooked.”
“I'm neither sophisticated nor subtle, Dominus, but I am observant. I detected no subterfuge. I recorded everything I witnessed, however impossible it seemed.”
With a smile that is almost pitiful, Quintus hums. “You did well , Matthew. Fortunately you have me to interpret for you–”
“Forgive me, Praetor!” A herald barges into the chamber without as much as a word of approval. Out of breath, he adds: “It’s urgent.”
“No kidding.” Quintus mutters, pulling a face.
“King Herod's envoy approaches.”
His face drops into discontent. “Spotted where?”
“Outside Gennesareth, riding north.”
Quintus slowly stands.
“Captain? Silvius Gemelius, son of Senator Gemelius, will be arriving in one hour.
“Yes, Dominus.”
Heading over to the small wardrobe against the wall, he orders: “Prepare my guard for inspection.”
As both the captain and the messenger leave the room, Gaius and Matthew pivot towards your husband who has got his back turned towards them. For a second, you lock eyes with Matthew, who looks at you curiously but quickly averts his gaze.
A brief yet heavy silence fills the room.
“How long would you have stood there?” Quintus faces the two men, grinning widely. “Things turned out very well with Simon, and I'm grateful. Gaius, I've reviewed your service records. You're Germanic?”
Gaius nods in acknowledgement. “My people were.”
“Powerful warriors… Even if they did surrender.” Quintus says.
“I believe they sensibly joined the winning team, Dominus.”
These words from the centurion make Matthew frown, something that doesn’t go unnoticed by you.
“ Sensibly .” Quintus repeats.
Thickly swallowing, Gaius reassures him: “My only allegiance is to Rome. I've trained to fight for her since I was a boy.”
“And now, you will lead. I hereby promote you to the rank of Primi.”
With widened eyes, Gaius kneels at once. “Thank you for this honour, Praetor.”
Pretension visible on his features, Quintus rolls his eyes. “Don’t slobber.”
The promoted soldier rises to his feet again.
“And Matthew, you're so wonderfully... odd .” Quintus pipes up with a grin on his face, “Keenly intelligent, but it's your reactions to the world I love. Like right now! How you're not a stain on a cart wheel is a mystery we will have many moons to unravel, my new friend.”
Matthew is persistent. “I saw no ruse or deception at the seashore, Dominus.”
“Because you have no guile.” Your husband points at the publicanus and approaches him slowly, placing himself in your line of sight so that Matthew’s expression is hidden to you. “Give me your first reaction to this scenario: You will shortly be visited by a childhood rival whose father gave him everything, while yours gave you nothing, and yet you've risen to a higher rank. You want to make it clear you won. That it's your meeting, even if he arrived unannounced.”
A moment of silence. “I would show him my plans for infrastructure. Conquest is not simply conquering nations but imposing a way of life.”
Quintus stares at him for a few long seconds before shaking his head slowly. “Unbelievable. So simple… You’re dismissed.” He heads to his desk to grab a roll of parchment and rolls it out.
Gaius gives a small bow. “Thank you, Praetor.”
Matthew inhales to speak up but is pulled along by the Primi lest he run his mouth.
Before they can leave, you stand. “Wait.”
All three men look at you in question. Resting a hand under your stomach, you swallow thickly before asking your question. “Quintus, can I go out with them? I’m longing for some time out of the house and Quintus can escort me back once the day is over.”
Your husband narrows his eyes, looks over to Gaius and the tax collector, then back at you. “You’re lucky I’m in such a good mood now,” he says, “And that I would have sent you out of here once Silvius had arrived anyway. Gaius, take good care of her. Do not let her out of your sight. If she is harmed in any way, you can be sure that this promotion will be very short-lived.”
The Primi bows before turning to you. “Of course, Dominus.”
With a grateful smile, you follow them outside, almost flinching at the brief touch of Quintus as you walk past him. Turning over your shoulder to give him one final look, you feel your heart drop at his pondering stare, his eyes narrowing, yet he quickly sends you a smile.
Unsure of what it means, you are content enough that you’re allowed outside the office for a few hours, hoping that the market will offer you some kind of distraction.

Elderly Care Home and Constipation In Seniors
Constipation is a widespread health problem that may affect anyone at any age; 22% of the population has it, but it's most frequent in the elderly, where 40% of senior individuals in India have it. It is a disorder that develops when a person has trouble passing feces, leading to irregular bowel motions, lumpy or hard stools, and a sense of incomplete evacuation. Hemorrhoids, anal fissures, and rectal prolapse are just a few of the issues that can develop from constipation if it is not addressed. These conditions can be painful and necessitate surgery.
A low-fiber diet, a lack of exercise, certain medicines, dehydration, and underlying medical problems including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and hypothyroidism are just a few of the many things that can cause constipation. Due to the broad presence of risk factors such a sedentary lifestyle, bad eating habits, and a lack of knowledge about preventative measures, constipation is becoming a significant problem in India. These issues are given utmost importance at the elderly care home with a doctor on call at their service.
Consuming a high-fiber diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes is essential to avoiding constipation. Regular physical exercise, such as brisk walking or yoga, can help to encourage regular bowel motions. However, constipation can occur as a side effect from several drugs, including opioids, antidepressants, and antacids.
Speak to your healthcare provider about precautions or other choices if you're on any of these drugs.
Constipation signs include:
weekly bowel motions of little more than three
straining when having a bowel movement
eructation of lumpy or firm stools
an impression of an incomplete evacuation
abdominal discomfort or bloating
It's critical to get medical assistance if you have any of these symptoms so that your constipation's underlying cause may be identified. Changing one's lifestyle can help with some cases of constipation, while other situations could need medicine or other medical attention.
Numerous herbal treatments are available in India to aid in the prevention of constipation. Triphala, a herbal mixture made up of three different fruits, has been used for generations as a constipation treatment. Other well-liked all-natural treatments for constipation include ginger, castor oil, and aloe vera juice.
In India, a number of drugs are sold that can relieve constipation in addition to natural therapies. Constipation is frequently treated using the synthetic sugar lactulose, which attracts water into the colon. Other drugs that can induce bowel motions include bisacodyl and sodium picosulfate. However, because they might have negative side effects including diarrhea and stomach cramps, these drugs should only be given while a doctor is present.
Elderly care home provides the best possible diet to the seniors including a high-fiber diet that contains fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes to avoid constipation. Regular physical exercise, such as brisk walking or yoga, as well as maintaining hydration can help to encourage regular bowel movements. But as a side effect, several drugs, including antacids, opioids, and antidepressants, might make you constipated. Talk to the doctor on call at the elderly care home about preventive measures or other choices if you're on any of these drugs.
Finally, constipation is a common health problem in India, especially among the elderly. It is brought on by a number of things, including a low-fiber diet, inactivity, certain drugs, dehydration, and underlying medical disorders. Adopting a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise, a high-fiber diet, and adequate water is crucial to preventing constipation. To identify the underlying reason and avoid any problems, it's critical to get medical assistance if you're exhibiting constipation symptoms. In India, there are a number of herbal treatments and pharmaceuticals that can aid with constipation, but they should only be taken under medical supervision.
It's critical to understand when to seek medical attention for constipation at elderly care homes, particularly if the symptoms last longer than two weeks or are accompanied by other unsettling signs and symptoms like blood in the stool, stomach discomfort, or unexplained weight loss. At The Golden Estate, you are given an opportunity to change your lifestyle with the best professionals always at your disposal.

Ayurvedic Medicine for Constipation - Kabj Hari Churn, its ingredients and benefits
In Ayurveda, constipation is a commonly recognized digestive disorder that is referred to as "Vibandha" or "Malabaddhata." It occurs when there is difficulty in passing stools, and the bowel movements become infrequent and challenging. Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine, views constipation as an imbalance in the body's doshas (biological energies) and attributes it mainly to an aggravation of the Vata dosha.
The concept of doshas in Ayurveda:
Vata: Governs movement, including bowel movements. It is dry, light, cold, and rough in nature.
Pitta: Governs digestion and metabolism. It is hot, sharp, and intense.
Kapha: Governs structure and lubrication in the body. It is heavy, slow, cool, and stable.
Causes of constipation according to Ayurveda:
Vata imbalance: The primary cause of constipation is an aggravated Vata dosha. When Vata becomes imbalanced, it can lead to dryness and sluggishness in the colon, resulting in difficult bowel movements.
Poor diet: Consuming foods that are dry, cold, and lacking in fiber can contribute to constipation. Additionally, irregular eating habits and excessive intake of processed and refined foods can disrupt proper digestion.
Lack of physical activity: Sedentary lifestyle and insufficient physical activity can slow down digestion and lead to constipation.
Suppression of natural urges: Ignoring the urge to defecate or suppress it due to various reasons can cause an imbalance in the colon.
Dehydration: Inadequate water intake can result in dry and hard stools, making them difficult to pass.
Mental factors: Stress, anxiety, and emotional disturbances can also influence bowel movements through the gut-brain axis.

Top 7 Benefits of Essential Oils
Essential oils have been around for thousands of years. Their use in traditional and folk medicine practices in various cultures around the world is nothing new, but their more widespread usage is becoming increasingly popular. Not only do essential oils smell pleasant—they’re also used in aromatherapy, personal hygiene practices, health care, cooking, cleaning, beauty treatments, and more! In this blog, we’ll share the top seven benefits of essential oils.
What Are Essential Oils?
Ultimately, essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that retain the natural smell and flavor of their source. They're made by steaming or pressing various parts of a plant (including the flowers, bark, leaves, fruit, roots, and peels) to capture the compounds that produce fragrance. There are dozens of different essential oils—like lavender, tea tree, peppermint, lemon, and ginger—all with different fragrances, chemical makeups, and associated uses.
7 Common, Everyday Benefits of Essential Oils
Boost Immunity & Fight Infections - Many essential oils have anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal properties. Chemical substances found in oils have the potential to fight foreign pathogens that may threaten your health. Tea tree oil, for example, has traditionally been used for wound healing; today, it’s commonly used to soothe acne, combat athlete's foot, and provide relief from insect bites.
Alleviate Aches & Pains - Among the most popular benefits of essential oils are their analgesic effects. Oils like frankincense and eucalyptus are known to help with inflammation, while lemon and rosemary may assist with pain regulation.
Reduce Stress & Anxiety - Through aromatherapy—the practice of using essential oils for therapeutic purposes by inhaling their scent molecules—several different oils are used to better manage stress and anxiety. Oils such as orange, rose, and bergamot can induce calming, peaceful, and uplifting feelings.
Support Digestion - Essential oils can help aid digestion by stimulating digestive enzymes that make it easier to break down and absorb nutrients, fats, and proteins needed by the human body. Some help relieve an upset stomach, indigestion, diarrhea, constipation, ulcers, and gastrointestinal conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Improve Energy Levels - Some oils may even help deal with feelings of tiredness and lethargy by increasing brain oxygen concentration.
Relieve Headaches & Migraines - Instead of simply masking the pain, essential oils can work as a natural remedy for headaches and migraines by getting to the root of the problem: poor circulation and blood flow, stress, and sinus pressure.

Tips for a Healthy Pregnancy: Expert Advice from Dr. Bharati Hiremath at Hiremath Hospital
Pregnancy is a life-changing journey filled with excitement and anticipation. To ensure a smooth and healthy experience for both mother and baby, proper care and guidance are essential. At Hiremath Hospital, Dr. Bharati Hiremath, a renowned specialist in maternity and high-risk pregnancy care, provides expert advice and personalized support to help mothers navigate this beautiful journey. Here are some vital tips for a healthy pregnancy:
1. Regular Prenatal Checkups
Schedule regular appointments with your healthcare provider. Frequent checkups ensure that the baby’s growth and development are on track and that any complications are detected early. At Hiremath Hospital, Dr. Bharati Hiremath emphasizes timely prenatal care to monitor both mother and baby closely.
2. Balanced Nutrition
Eating a well-balanced diet is crucial during pregnancy. Include a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Foods rich in folic acid, iron, calcium, and omega-3 fatty acids support the baby’s development. Avoid processed foods and limit caffeine intake.
3. Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water throughout the day to prevent dehydration and support your body’s increased blood volume during pregnancy. Proper hydration also reduces the risk of common pregnancy issues like constipation and swelling.
4. Take Prenatal Vitamins
Prenatal vitamins, prescribed by your doctor, provide essential nutrients that may be difficult to get through diet alone. Folic acid, iron, and DHA are particularly important for the baby’s growth and brain development.
5. Exercise Regularly
Engage in moderate, pregnancy-safe exercises such as walking, swimming, or prenatal yoga. Regular physical activity helps improve circulation, reduce stress, and prepare your body for labor. Always consult your doctor before starting any exercise routine.
6. Get Adequate Rest
Pregnancy can be exhausting, so it’s important to listen to your body and rest when needed. Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep each night and consider short naps during the day to stay energized.
7. Avoid Harmful Substances
Stay away from smoking, alcohol, and recreational drugs. These substances can harm your baby’s development and increase the risk of complications. Limit exposure to environmental toxins, such as pesticides and harsh chemicals.
8. Manage Stress
Pregnancy can be emotionally challenging. Practice stress-relieving techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or spending quality time with loved ones. Dr. Bharati Hiremath also offers counseling and support for expectant mothers to help them feel more confident and relaxed.
9. Educate Yourself
Attend prenatal classes to learn about childbirth, breastfeeding, and newborn care. Being informed empowers you to make better decisions during labor and postpartum.
10. Monitor Warning Signs
Be vigilant about any unusual symptoms such as severe headaches, blurred vision, sudden swelling, or decreased fetal movement. Promptly report these to your doctor for immediate evaluation.
At Hiremath Hospital, Dr. Bharati Hiremath and her team are dedicated to providing comprehensive maternity care. Whether you are seeking guidance for a high-risk pregnancy or preparing for a painless delivery, you can trust her expertise to make your pregnancy journey safe and memorable.

5 Benefits of Triphala for Digestive Wellness in Australia
Triphala, a staple of traditional Ayurvedic medicine, has gained significant recognition worldwide for its powerful health benefits, particularly in supporting digestive wellness. As more Australians embrace natural and holistic remedies, Triphala digestion is becoming an essential addition to many wellness routines. Made from the combination of three powerful fruits—Amalaki (Amla), Bibhitaki, and Haritaki—Triphala is known for its detoxifying and rejuvenating properties, offering a wide range of benefits for the digestive system. Here are five key ways Triphala supports digestive health in Australia.
Supports Healthy Digestion One of the primary benefits of Triphala is its ability to support healthy digestion. This herbal blend is renowned for promoting the efficient breakdown and absorption of nutrients from food. It aids in balancing the digestive fire, or Agni, which is central to Ayurvedic health. Triphala can help stimulate the production of digestive enzymes, improving overall digestion and helping alleviate issues such as bloating and indigestion.
In Australia, where many people experience digestive discomfort due to stress, poor diet, or lifestyle choices, Triphala provides a natural solution to optimize digestion. By balancing the stomach’s acid levels, Triphala ensures that food moves through the digestive tract smoothly, reducing discomfort after meals.
Relieves Constipation Constipation is a common digestive concern that affects people worldwide, including many Australians. Triphala is widely recognized for its mild yet effective natural laxative properties. It works by stimulating bowel movements, promoting regularity without causing dependency or harsh side effects.
The combination of Amalaki, Bibhitaki, and Haritaki in Triphala helps to soften stools and enhance peristalsis, the wave-like muscle contractions that push food through the intestines. Its high fiber content further promotes bowel regularity, making it an ideal remedy for individuals struggling with occasional constipation. For those seeking a natural, gentle alternative to chemical laxatives, Triphala offers a safer and more sustainable option.
Detoxifies the Digestive System Triphala is often used as a detoxifying agent in Ayurvedic medicine. It helps cleanse the digestive tract by removing accumulated toxins, or 'Ama,' that can hinder proper digestion. These toxins, often caused by poor diet, environmental factors, or stress, can build up in the gut, leading to digestive disturbances and other health issues.
By regularly incorporating Triphala digestion into your wellness routine, you can help the body naturally expel harmful toxins, improving gut health and overall well-being. Its antioxidant properties, particularly from Amalaki, help to neutralize free radicals, which can otherwise lead to inflammation and damage to digestive tissues. This detoxifying effect makes Triphala an excellent option for anyone looking to improve their digestive function and maintain a healthy gut.
Balances the Doshas for Digestive Harmony In Ayurveda, the body’s health is governed by three energies or 'Doshas'—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Triphala plays a crucial role in balancing these Doshas, particularly Vata and Pitta, which are closely linked to digestive health. Vata governs movement within the digestive system, and when it is out of balance, it can lead to irregular bowel movements and bloating. Pitta, associated with heat and digestion, when imbalanced, can result in acidity and heartburn.
Triphala's harmonizing effects help to calm these imbalances, promoting a smoother and more efficient digestive process. This balance ensures that digestion functions optimally, with less risk of discomfort or digestive disorders. As Australians become more attuned to the principles of Ayurveda, Triphala serves as an invaluable tool for restoring digestive harmony.
Enhances Gut Flora and Immune Function A healthy digestive system is closely linked to the balance of gut bacteria, which play an essential role in digestion, immunity, and overall health. Triphala has been shown to support the growth of beneficial gut bacteria while suppressing harmful microbes, fostering a balanced and healthy microbiome.
In addition to supporting digestive health, Triphala strengthens the immune system. Since a large portion of the body’s immune system is located in the gut, maintaining a healthy digestive environment directly impacts overall immunity. By enhancing gut flora, Triphala helps improve the body’s natural defenses, keeping it better equipped to fight off infections and inflammation. Visit here for more info.
Incorporating Triphala into your daily routine offers numerous benefits for digestive wellness. Its ability to support digestion, relieve constipation, detoxify the body, balance the Doshas, and promote a healthy gut microbiome makes it an essential part of any holistic wellness regimen. For Australians seeking a natural and effective solution to digestive concerns, Triphala from Ayur Health Care provides a powerful tool to restore and maintain optimal digestive health.
If you're looking to experience the benefits of Triphala for yourself, visit Ayur Health Care to find high-quality Triphala supplements and other Ayurvedic products that can help you achieve better digestive health and overall well-being.
