The way Ambessa talks about the Guile is interesting. She speaks of it with such suspicion, dislike, and literal resentment. At first you'd assume that her attitude is driven by her fued with the Black Rose, but we don't know how long that's been going on, or if this was her own bias prior to it. Under the lens that these are Ambessa's own preconcieved biases before she got involved with the BR then it immediately becomes a critique on her own family. You just can't divorce her comments from how the show depicts her children, from Mel.

Almost every word Ambessa used to describe the Guile describes Mel, except "absent honor" of course. And when you understand that, it becomes clear just how doomed Ambessa and Mel are as mother and daughter. Ambessa indirectly, without the intention to imply Mel, states that her distaste for the fundamental aspects of Mel's personality. Ambessa loves her daughter, but she doesn't LIKE her.

We resume in the Time Stop!

Visually I quite like how they’re differentiating this here - it’s harder to show that time is stopped in a still medium, because we view things as if time has already stopped. The pictures don’t move. But CLAMP have added a grey filter to the moments where time is frozen, and left the unfrozen parts looking brighter by comparison. It works really well! You can even see Evil Wolverine’s pretentious throne that looks like little wings because he just can’t stop himself. He cannot resist being extra for no reason. The man does not know the meaning of moderation. 

And VERY fun framing with Lava Lamp and Evil Wolverine visually divided by THE MOMENT where he didn’t grab Sakura’s hand, also cast over in grey. Evil Wolverine looking Peak Villain as possible, while Lava Lamp’s eyes are wide open in realisation. I’m not sure if it’s because of Who is talking to him, or the Pure Temptation of an offer that WOULD FIX EVERYTHING. He COULD do it. If he took this man’s offer he COULD SAVE SAKURA, which he has devoted literally half his life to already.

PSA on deescalation

Listen to the person! Yes, when people are angry they don't always communicate clearly and sometimes say things that they don't mean. But they are still intelligent human beings capable of knowing how they feel.

Leave the situation! If it's safe, leave the situation! It takes two to tango and it's harder to fight when you don't have an enemy anymore. If the person is telling you to leave you probably should.

Also you should almost never trap or prevent the other person from leaving! Letting someone who is upset leave allows them to get some space alone, get space from the conflict, feel safer, and get some adrenaline out by moving. You may feel it's not safe to leave the person or let the person leave. But try to balance those concerns with the fact that it's not fair to hold them hostage in a situation they don't feel safe in, at that point you're antagonizing them. Also you should respect that person's autonomy and judgement, they know themselves better than you do and often they want to avoid the conflict escalating as well.

Validate the other persons emotions! This helps show concern and make someone feel heard, which helps stem the conflict and stress. You don't have to apologize or deny what they did is wrong but express understanding and compassion for the distress they are feeling.

Express concern not judgement! If you think they "need help" ask if they "are okay?" ask if they need help. But don't tell them to "calm down."

Communicate your concerns! If you're concerned that safety of the the other person or other people if you leave the situation let them know. You might be able to work out a deal so that they walk a certain way so that you can see them get away safe. You can give them resources. This also communicates concern.

This all comes from what I've learned studying psychology and education. As well as from working in schools and mental hospitals. I don't have time right now to include references but if you curious about things mentioned I encourage you to look up deescalation techniques as well as the individual techniques I've mentioned.

like it's smth small and it's mainly a personal preference, cause like hans had no build up as a twist villain and stuff and I wish they did that but instead of having him fake his love for Anna it was real, at first he was using her just to become king and stuff but then he falls for her and stuff and idk you could have him be torn between his want to become king and how he wouldn't want to hurt his true love but eventually he chooses his desire for power over her and she's like 'i thought you loved me?' and he's like 'i do... I truly do anna, I have never loved anyone else as much as I do you...' and then she's like 'then why are you doing this..?' and idk how the rest would go and stuff but it would be way better than 'Oh AnNa, If OnLy ThErE wAs SoMeOnE wHo LoVeD yOu.' cause like up to that point it was just so out of left Field and made no sense but yea, that's all

So if we were to continue from the Unova Kids Villain AU, where Iris tried to kill Diantha and the Kalos E4

Godd just, when Gardevoir teleports them away to someplace safe, Diantha is in shock till she just starts breaking down in front of the E4. Just crying and yelling at herself for being so stupid. How could she not see what was Iris’ real intentions. She put her E4 and herself in danger because she only cared about Iris and not others safety. Blaming herself for what happened, direction the anger and sadness and confusion to herself, even though it was Iris to blame for what happened

But, Diantha could never blame her daughter. She would never admit to herself Iris had full intentions to murder her. No matter what, she’s always going to love her daughter, despite Iris not returning that love

Ough imagine Drasna calms down Diantha and tells them they have to find someplace more secluded, before Iris and Kyurem finds them again and attacks, because Gardevoir most likely can’t teleport them all anymore since she’s already teleported four of them from Kalos to Unova

And idk what would happen next, like do they find the other champion? Encounter the other Unova Kids? Find someone from the Unova League and get their part of the story?

But I do know it’s gonna be even more crushing for Diantha when she eventually regroups with the Champions, Lance especially. Because she’s going to have to tell Lance that the person they took in as their daughter just tried to freeze her to death

Iris is just having the time of her life retelling the story to the rest of the Unova kids. Laughing about the whole ordeal. You wanna know what fucked me up though? I imagined when Iris was telling the story, she was exaggerating the story like it was nothing. Like how teenagers do to make themselves seem cooler in front of their friends. Like they were all at the League just laughing around, hangout out with each other like teenagers

But they are teenagers. All of them (expect N whos probably 20 by now) are teenagers and they’re the ones who causes all the damage in Unova

(I honestly forgot if they’re young adults in this AU but still, they’re not even mid 20’s and they’re doing mass murder)

Like,,, when Diantha finds the other Champions again, and like they're surprised that the Kalos E4 were there too, but Lance just chndbd Lance rushes to Diantha, and Dia just fucking breaks man. Fucking imagine her like legitimately breaking the fuck down, clutching Lance's cape as if it were her lifeline, hands trembling as her knuckles turn white, imagine her crying her heart out even as Lance tries to comfort her. Like can you imagine how that would be for the other champs bc Diantha is usually so calm and composed and the epitome of elegance and now she's hunched over crying, trying to form words through her tears as she clutches Lance's cape, sobbing on his chest, going on about Iris, Kyurem, and how Diantha's blaming herself for being so goddamn stupid. Like imagine what it's like for them and the Kalos E4, imagine if that's legitimately the first time almost all of them saw Diantha actually cry

And ofc, maybe the other champs and even Lance thought Iris was dead, Unova's like a frozen wasteland now, but imagine their surprise and their fear when Diantha and even the Kalos E4 told the Champions how Iris almost killed them. Like imagine the other champs not believing that at first, how could Iris, their sweet Iris, their little sister, kill someone?? That's.. that's not right. But with how Diantha is still trembling like a leaf, how even Malva and Siebold were looking to the side looking troubled, and how Wikstrom and Drasna were so worried about Diantha, well.. maybe it's true. And now they fear what's gonna happen next, they fear that if Iris was willing to kill Diantha, someone who was like a mother figure to her, then imagine how willing she would be killing the other Champions

And then w Iris chdmdb ough that mental image is dope your honour holy shit😭😭

Like them at a meeting hall or smth, Iris at the head of the table, telling her friends about her encounter with Diantha, and ofc the lil shit is gonna try to impress them, especially since her lil crush is around too, ofc she's gonna tell them how Diantha was begging for mercy, how weak the Kalos champ truly was, that even w Mega Gardevoir, she lost to Iris and Haxorus. Even better that Diantha called in the Kalos E4, ofc Iris is also gonna tell them how they were weak as well, that they never stood a chance against her, "shows, really, I'm that powerful," she boasted, leaning on the table, "and the people of Unova thinks I'm weak."

And ofc everyone else was impressed y'know, even going on how they'd want to see just how pathetic Diantha and her league were, and then they hear word that the other Champions are around, and of fucking course they want to see if they're also that weak, especially now since Iris was going on if Diantha lost to her, then she's sure as hell the other Champions are gonna lose to them. They'll make all the Champions see just how powerful they are, and the dragons will help them in doing so.

Why do tragedies hit at the most horrible times? Like, you're almost at the finish line and all you need to do is lock in and a fucking avalanche just falls on fucking top of you and ruins everything. Sucks the life out of you and even the best things don't seem to help anymore. People just shrug their shoulders or tell you to persevere when you literally can't do anything. It sucks. Being stranded, being lost, being numb, being tired. How can you confide in something that no longer brings you comfort... and the closest options never did.

Disney’s Mulan- Mulan

In preparation for the new, live-action Mulan from Disney, this blog has decided to go back and look at some of the initial character concepts from the masterpiece that was the original 1998 animated Mulan.

Voiced by actress Ming-Na Wen, Mulan is the titular character and hero of the Disney animated classic. Inspired by the actual historical figure Hua Mulan as depicted in the epic poem the Ballad of Mulan. The only child of an aging war veteran in ill health, Mulan takes it upon herself to enlist in the Chinese army when conscription time comes rather than let her father go to war against the Huns. She disguises herself as a man named Ping, and guided by her family’s spirit dragon Mushu, she eventually liberates China from the hun attack, saving the Emperor in the process. 

 The original story of Mulan as Disney was set to write it was going to be about a young Chinese woman who eloped with a  British prince. However, director Tony Bancroft convinced the powers-that-be to change the narrative to be one of empowerment and to showcase a strong and independent Disney heroine who didn’t depend on a male character. This was backed up by animation supervisor Mark Henn, who ensured the character was designed to appear much less traditionally feminine than previous Disney ‘princesses’.
