welt: "no need for the store—i already have some in stock for you. with your cravings this week, i figured you would begin soon." he doesn't even go to the store—he's got everything stocked up for you in the back somewhere. he predicted this. he comes back with snacks too!

sampo: "ah, shark week, eh? i'll return shortly with everything you need!" he goes to the store but it takes a while... and he returns with nothing you asked for, and some frog he bought along the way. and when you ask where your pads or tampons are at, he says, "... ah. i forgot. i'll be back." argenti: he goes to the store and takes too long because he's admiring how beautiful and well organized the feminine products are. he also gets lost too. fortunately though, comes back with what you've asked for, but he bought the most expensive ones.

dr. ratio: "i have calculated that you would begin this week. i shall depart—rest, i'll return shortly." goes to the store, buys what you need, and brings back some books based on philosophy, science and math.

sunday: "are you feeling unwell? i see. i will return, but i do need to purchase some gifts for robin, as well." he goes ahead and gets them, but buys some stuff for robin too. he comes back with flowers, gifts for his younger sister, and everything you've asked for.

aventurine: "alright, alright. i'll be sure to bring back your favorite drink at the café, too. is there anything else you'd like?" he sets off for multiple different places to buy your favorite food and snacks, but he doesn't forget about the pads/tampons.

jing yuan: "i'll be back, but don't fall asleep without me." he departs to the store but eventually returns with the things you've asked for, but he also went ahead and bought a giant plushie for you to feel better, as well as a new blanket for the both of you to nap on.

blade: "i'll be back. don't do anything rash." blade will go to the store and get exactly what you need, then return. it is as simple as that.

Professor Layton and the Spectre’s Call!! I actually discovered ordering the game from the UK with shipping was actually cheaper than ordering the American version of the game, there were no major differences that I could tell as they still had the original English voice actors.

I enjoyed this game!! Not my top favorite installment but I still had a great time and loved the new characters. The puzzles were well designed and had nice scaled difficulty and the mini games were really neat too. The Eternal Diva references were so blatant lmfao but I’m excited for Miracle Mask! I was also super exhausted when writing the summary so sorry there’s so many errors and I use the word fun a million times ToT

Summary

This was such a fun origin story for Luke and Layton. Very much a classic Layton game with world ending machinery and gorgeous environment design. I really liked both Emmy and Descole, there’s a more serious undertone than with Don Paolo as the main villain (even though I do love Don Paolo). Emmy is amazing!! I was afraid she would be sidelined like Flora was but I’m glad to she stands her ground and does what she wants to do. I alos like how we got to go on our own adventure as her to London, she’s a character that doesn’t need to rely on Hershel to solve everything. Meeting Luke was great, loved his blank stare. It was fun seeing his origins and how Clark and Hershel knew each other. I’m curious how the prequels will play into the New World of Steam, especially now that Luke’s family have stories and sprites (unlike in the original trilogy). Loved the ACAB story, v nice to play while I’m still so mad at what’s happening to university students currently. Descole was so fun, I am obsessed with his outfit and personality. Unfortunately I was spoiled on who he is but I’m very excited to learn more. I think similar to Ace Attorney, the fourth installment is that last game in the classic 2D style, which is sad but PLvsPW makes me very hopeful about 3D Layton. The overall story was fun, I really liked the sub plot about the Ravens - that was really fun (i was so tired writing this omfg). I wish we got a little more backstory on the rich guy who died, I feel like there’s more to the story. OO I loved the little episodes, especially the one about Chelmey. They added a lot of fun context and gave more life to the NPCs. Such a fun and classic Layton game, I can’t wait to play Miracle Mask! (And read the light novels). This wasn’t my favorite Layton game but I still really loved it and had a great time and loved the puzzles — that’s all I want from PL!

Baldi Dating Headcannons!

He is a Yapper and Your The listener and usually he always Yaps about his students and the lessons he teaches(Math obviously), Things he admires from his students and things he DESPISE

Unfortunately if you try to flirt with him, He would be oblivious to it and it will take some time for him to finally understand...either that or The Principal tells him what it is

He actually is a Gentleman surprisingly... Like the usual opening of doors, helping you in anything like chores, work or paying for the bills

His love language is "Gift Giving" by leaving it at your front door which are really random gifts from him which are either a new notebook for you to use for anything, a picture frame of you both or a can of your favorite drink or food

Although in some cases whenever you two go out on a date he would pay for the bill and if you try paying it he already did after booking the place

But if your the one who book the place he will not eat and just watch you eat because he rather be the one paying for his and your food than you so it's better if you pay your own food without him buying anything for himself which works and now you have to no choice but to let him book for any food related dates and let him pay

His an early bird although ever since he met you he waits for you to wake up so he just stays there and cuddle with you until you wake up

He gets shy and easily red in the face whenever you kiss him(His still getting used to it just be patient)

You collect dead bugs, pin them into pretty picture frames, they decorate your wall. They’ve come back to life and are crawling around in their frames on the wall.

Crows keep leaving you little shiny stuff. They bring you a ring, there’s dried blood on it.

been meaning to post these here for AGES now but I keep forgetting to. explodes 💥

but ANYWAYS! i redid the ref art for my Stranger oc from Myst/Riven! and also finally got around to drawing the aged-up version I thought up for him between Myst 3 and 4.

also wrote out a sort of messy bio for him a while ago, which i'll put under the cut since it's kinda long lol

ACE

Basic info

• Born October 7, 1782. He is 24 during the events of Myst & Riven, 33 during Exile and 42 during Revelation.

• He stands about 5’6” (1.6m) and is around 120 lbs. Pretty scrawny and definitely built better for agility than physical power.

• He is transgender and uses he/him pronouns. That caused quite a few problems for him back home, given the social climate at the time. He really doesn’t like to discuss his past or his birth family & will quickly change the subject if asked.

• He's very kind, easygoing and silly, and he loves to help others. But he can also be quite scatterbrained, forgetful, and prone to emotional manipulation.

• While he can be a bit absent-minded at times, he’s actually quite intelligent & quick-thinking, and he excels at problem- and puzzle-solving. He often cracks Atrus’s puzzles within mere minutes, but then can't recall his thought process when asked how he did it.

• Most of his favorite pastimes involve creating and fixing things. For instance, he’s very skilled with a needle & thread, and he makes and mends all of his own clothes. Drawing is another big one for him— his journal contains a lot more doodles in the margins than actual writing.

• He also LOVES animals, especially frogs, reptiles and bugs. He’s good at reading animals' behavioral cues and often has an easier time gaining their trust than most people would.

Early life/childhood

• His birth family were early settlers in the Northwest Territory, moving out west with him in tow when he was just a small child & starting a homestead there. His family consisted of his father, mother, and 3 brothers- 2 older and 1 younger.

• His gender identity caused friction with his family later in his childhood, since they had assumed he was just a tomboyish child and would eventually grow out of it. Obviously, though, he never did.

• His refusal to adhere to his assigned gender eventually escalated to his parents viewing him as hysterical & mentally unwell. Things only continued to get worse as he grew older, which eventually led him to go on the run. He kept a low profile & travelled mostly on his own for years, pressing farther into uncharted territory in an attempt to get as far away from his family as possible, which was how he first stumbled across the Myst linking book.

Life with Atrus & family

• Despite everything Saavedro did at the start of Exile, Ace still finds himself understanding of the man's predicament (perhaps relating the experience to his own upbringing in an abstract sort of way), and he takes it upon himself to help him get home by any means necessary. He often wonders how things worked out for Saavedro after their encounter & genuinely wishes the best for him.

• Slight deviation from canon- After the events of Exile, Ace got so worried about someone else coming after Atrus and his family while he was gone that he insisted on staying with them to help keep an eye on things. He moved in with them in Tomahna and helped out, both with Atrus’s projects and just general home/family things. He sort of took up the role of another older brother figure to Yeesha.

• Over time, he begins to view Atrus & Catherine not just as friends, but sort of as a new, more accepting family. He's definitely slipped up & called them “mom” and “dad” by accident before. SEVERAL times. He was really embarrassed about it at first, although they weren't bothered by it.

• He and Atrus work well together! Although Ace can’t write his own Ages, he often helps test Atrus’s creations and suggests ways he could potentially improve them. His ideas tend to fall somewhere in between Atrus & Catherine in terms of realism- a little wacky but still somewhat grounded in reality. He’s also quick to remind Atrus to take breaks & not get TOO into his work.

• Ace also spends a lot of time back home with Catherine and Yeesha. He does a good job earning his keep by helping around the home, and he and Catherine often like to bounce ideas off of one another. He finds her creativity super impressive, and a favorite pastime of his is to try & draw various creatures and landscapes that she describes.

• Since he lives with the family in between Exile and Revelation, Ace learns about what happened to Atrus’s sons much earlier than in canon, and he often tags along with the family when they visit. Usually he doesn’t go visit the brothers by himself, since he isn’t sure how comfortable Atrus would be with that, but he has offered to deliver things like care packages to them before & he’ll often stop to chat with them for a while.

• Ace has sort of always felt drawn towards Achenar. Despite the older brother's obvious shiftiness, Ace couldn't help but feel bad for him. He'd actually collected every blue page and was going to free him before he was (thankfully) stopped by Atrus. Despite being made aware of the attempted trick, Ace still forgave Achenar pretty quickly after seeing how much he’d changed over the years, and now he's always eager to go visit him with the rest of the family. The two get along surprisingly well & become close friends over time, and Ace will often stay behind to talk to him long after the rest of the family decides to head home from their visits.

• Ace, however, has always gotten bad vibes from Sirrus ever since he first arrived on Myst. He already has a disdain for greedy rich-guy types, and Sirrus always struck Ace as very disingenuous and closed-off, which further limited their ability to connect on an emotional level. Deep down, though, Ace still has a soft spot for Sirrus, and often displays it by teasing him in a playful little-sibling sort of way. While Sirrus generally finds his jokes more annoying than amusing, it clearly isn’t malicious and at least breaks up some of his day-to-day tedium, so he begrudgingly tolerates it.

Chai post – my fanon

[Part 1: Childhood]

Trying to finally get some things out of my head. This post will also be answering @purplecheshire1 question “Do you ever wonder what was Kale and Chai’s childhood before being an adult?”

I’ll be splitting it into parts and writing about Kale in a different post for convenience (and because I don’t know when I’ll write those but I feel bad for not putting at least something).

And I will also, additionally, talk about adulthood in another part.

Name: Chai. This name was given to him in an orphanage. Surname: Prefers not to have one. Uses his actual second name only when necessary.

Chai was found on January 25th in a culvert pipe by a group of youngsters who unexpectedly had their pleasant evening disturbed by a baby’s cry. They turned to the police for help, but they were unable to find the child’s parents or any information on the baby, so he ended up in an orphanage.

His right arm already wasn’t showing signs of healthiness when he was found.

Chai is aware of these events.

Since no one knows when he was actually born, his birthday is celebrated on the day he was found - on the 25th of January.

Life in the orphanage wasn’t particularly bright: study, eat, and hope that grownups would come and take you home with them.

Chai wasn’t doing great. He had a hard time concentrating on his studies and finding friends. He seemed to never be able to understand which way other kids’ train of thought was going. Some looked down on him and thought he was weird.

He also wasn’t doing great with the “grownups will come and take you home with them” part.

He started to think like there was something wrong with him since childhood. He still distinctly remembers one married couple that came to the orphanage. The man pointed at him and whispered to his spouse “Not in our budget”.

The medical staff in the orphanage couldn’t do much for his arm except give him a sling.

The kid spent time mostly by himself. Playing around huge sewer pipes and making friends with small creatures: ants, frogs, and all kinds of bugs. He collected all caterpillars he could find and helped them grow to become beautiful butterflies (he never stopped doing that).

And he very much likes antlions. He saw one only in the book. Thought it was cool. He would like to raise one one day.

Things changed when a new kid arrived at the orphanage. A girl named Daisy. Like Chai, she was disabled – she lost both of her arms in an accident that also took her parent’s lives. Daisy’s only remaining relative that took care of her, her grandmother, recently passed away, and without anyone to take care of her, she was sent to the orphanage.

Chai stuck to her because she, like he is, was different. The two of them got along pretty well.

He was very surprised to discover that her favorite hobby was, and still is, drawing. Despite losing both arms, she never gave up and instead decided to learn to draw using her feet.

“Drawing helps me keep the bad thoughts away and gives me something to look forward to in life. I want to be like one of those big artists one day. Everyone has that one thing that gives them a reason to push through. You should too,” she said to him one day.

Daisy's words stuck with Chai. He had thought a lot about what she said and, one day, he happily rushed to his friend to tell her that he would become a rockstar.

Between them, Fennec Shand and Daimyo Fett seemed to think that every meal had to feed a dozen or more people. Grogu appreciated that most of the time. But at least one time it was too much. Way too much. Far too much. An almost horrifyingly amount of too much. It had actually been terrifying. 

The day had begun like any day on Tatooine when he and the Mandalorian were visiting the Daimyo. They discussed Mandalorian politics (rank amateurs), smash ball (rebuilding, always rebuilding), and the state of the New Republic (‘they are lead by children’). Fennec would pop in for a couple of split seconds to report on all the problems she had solved since the prior evening (Pykes turned away again, spice shipment disrupted and repurposed, bounty hunter after {insert name here} escorted out of Mos Espa and off Tatooine, etc.) as usual. 

Then the droid chef, or was it a mech chef? Grogu didn’t know and on that day he hadn’t even thought to ask. In any case, the chef, who was not a living being, started sending food up to the meeting room. Grogu had been happy to see it. Listening to the others talk business always made him hungry simply because he wanted to do something productive. 

First the chef’s helpers brought up typical breakfast fare. Caf, juice, iced water, hot tea, cold tea, moof milk, bantha milk (huh?), sweeteners, carafes, mugs, bottles, cups, glasses, and a wide variety of other containers. The problem was they didn’t bring up the normal amount of the stuff. It was like they were cleaning out the kitchen cabinets and they thought that this was the best way to handle it. 

Daimyo Fett and Din Djarin didn’t even seem to notice. They were too busy making their morning caf ‘just so’ and since Grogu was waiting for the bone broth to appear he was just observing the scene. Fennec had already left the room. The protocol droid just began to move things around as the Daimyo reached for his favorite sweetener and Grogu watched as the things that had been brought into the room were rearranged in kind of an outline of the whole space. He supposed it made sense. If you wanted more of a thing you could just point at the wall it was lined up next to and the protocol droid would fetch it for you. 

When the next wave of food entered the room it was made up of all the baked things that the kitchen could produce. The Daimyo’s favorite puff pastry with the little bit of quant berry jelly in the center. The heavy Mandalorian rolls that Fennec maintained were the inspiration for smash ball. Then all manner of cakes, cereals, pies, custards, crisps. Still no bone broth, but Grogu was a big fan of crisps and helped himself to no less than fifteen different varieties as they were brought to the table and then, like the drinks before them, redistributed around the room. 

Grogu tried to flag down the protocol droid to request some bone broth, but that was hopeless. The layer of baked goods around the room’s perimeter was twice as wide as the layer of beverages. It was a good thing that droid had long legs and small foot cups. It made it much easier for it to step over the emerging barricade. 

While that was happening, both Din Djarin and the Daimyo were simply ripping fire stacks into small pieces and eating them slowly as they savored the burning hot Mandalorian spice they were caked with. Grogu liked fire stacks as well, but he usually knocked a lot of the hot spice off of them before he ate them. Frog didn’t take the same after eating a fire stack that was just loaded with the stuff. 

After the baked goods, the fried food, boiled food, rotisseried food, the helpers finally served the fresh food. Grogu was happy about that. Even though the majority of ‘fresh’ food was in the form of vegetables, you could still find melons, berries, large and small aquatic critters, like gorgs and scalefish,  and pretty interesting variety of other critters. 

Grogu enjoyed this part of the meal the most, right up to the moment when he heard the words that brought all eating and drinking to an abrupt halt… 

“Where do you want us to put the rathtar?” 

Both Daimyo Fett and the Mandalorian tried to jump to their feet, but they were stuck where they were. So much food had been brought into the room they couldn’t even move their chairs even slightly away from the table. Grogu had to sit on the table just to keep from being squashed by the new dishes being placed in the room and pretended, at least once, to be one of things being served by stuffing a jogan fruit into his mouth and laying very still in his first layer. It had fooled the helpers and that’s all he had aimed to do. 

Once again Grogu had a great view of what was happening as the Daimyo aimed his missile launcher at the ‘rathtar’ and those holding it, while the Mandalorian had turned on his flight pack and forced his way into the air, almost knocking the whole table over. Grogu was certain that he was watching a tragedy unfold when a clear, calm voice cut through the mayhem. 

“It’s not real. It’s a toy for the kid. You just have to suspend it and he can tear it apart with the force. There are a bunch of freeze dried froglets in there and packets of bone broth! Whatever you do don’t fire that missile. It’ll take forever to get the frog out of everything.”

Thank goodness for Fennec! Grogu turned to thank her, but she was already gone. One problem solved and already on her way to solve the next one. He hoped.

i've been meaning to talk about some of my apollo headcanons that have been floating in my head. some of them building upon canon ideas, others inspired by others, and some entirely built up by me. so without further ado, here are my apollo headcanons. i'll definitely make more as i keep reading for him.

apollo headcanons:

- being around speedsters, amazons, blue lanterns, and martian manhunter is hard for him sometimes. he sees his teammates he failed to save. he hears the name impulse and sometimes his brain changes it to 'impetus'. the first time that he met cassandra sandsmark, he became shaky and had to excuse himself.

- he goes out on missions/patrols by himself whenever he's buzzing with energy and or wanting to help people be safer and happier. he will still go out on missions/patrols with midnighter (aka one form of date night), the authority (for only big world ending emergencies since they're semi-retired), swift/engineer or some of his new friends/allies. even though he's semi-retired, this doesn't mean that the midnighter gets all the fun.

- while on the run with midnighter, he researched his namesake in the library. he was horrified for a good period time at his resemblance to the statues and various art pieces of the greek god apollo, but wanted to know who he is named after. he after learning about him wanted to embody virtues of apollo on his own terms. music and the arts, truth and prophecy, medicine and healing, the sun and light, herds and flocks, archery, knowledge, averter of evil, eternally youthful, oracular god, pastoral deity, one of the twelve olympian deities, the most hellenic (greek) of the olympian gods, the favorite son of zeus. to his opponents and enemies alike, he is ill health and deadly plague, of diseases in general, beneficial but wrathful, the deadly fire of the sun.

- the carrier when discovering of his continued research about the sun god apollo made him a lyre, a laurel wreath, a bow and a quiver full of arrows, and a hairbrush with engravings like greek pottery on the brush at jenny sparks request. he still hasn't brought himself to practicing with the lyre or bow, half from not having the time and half from not wanting to break something that means a lot to him.

- midnighter for halloween the first year of being married bought the three of them chitons and sandals to wear as a family and was somehow further utterly smitten by seeing his husband dressed up like his namesake, baby jenny cradled in his arms. they still have the outfits even though jenny's doesn't fit anymore so it's in one of her baby things boxes (because they're both sentimental parents to have such things).

- for their first halloween on their new earth, they dress as batman and superman, with jenny q's costume a mix of steph's robin and kara's supergirl.

- jenny sparks also gifted him and midnighter one of the frog and toad books, which is the first thing they read to baby jenny quantum.

- apollo and midnighter have cute lovey yet cheesy nicknames for eachother and also jenny. jenny's nicknames for her dads' are much the same but take on a sillier baseline.

- apollo's music is primarily in record album format, followed by cd and cassette tapes. the brief time he and midnighter had off before the authority was formed was when he bought a record player and a three in one radio, cd, and cassette player. all his doris day music is in record album form.

- his movie binging and critiquing is comprised of watching dvds and vhs tapes. as shown above, he is rather happy sticking to the older formats of entertainment rather than streaming online, mp3s, etc. he has gone off on a long tangent during a rainy day to midnighter about the differences between regular dvds and blu-ray.

- apollo doesn't wear a wedding ring while in costume, as he considers his and midnighter's symbols on their chests to be their wedding rings. however, they do wear wedding rings outside of costume, which were a wedding gift made by angie. apollo's wedding ring is a gold band with midnigher's chest symbol engraved on it, and midnighter's wedding ring is a silver band with apollo's chest symbol engraved on it.

- apollo began to pursue cooking and baking not only as a hobby and a way to destress but also as a way to build himself further outside of henry bendix's vision. he convinced midnighter to learn as well and they'll do it together or seperately. when both in the kitchen, they'll bicker over apollo following his heart on numerous parts of the recipe while midnighter sticks purely to the recipe out of the feeling that he needs to and just so he can have playful banter with apollo.

- apollo will use various things to focus his superhuman senses on to call him down when overwhelmed. his various hobbies that act as meditation, listening to music, putting up wind chimes, watching movies, lighting candles, you name it. it brings him back to himself.

- apollo encouraged midnighter to find hobbies just for himself outside of fighting, which apollo made sure to help him find ones that would work well with his computer brain.

- every arts and crafts piece and report card of jenny's is hung up on the fridge or framed on the wall. midnighter really loves framing their photographs and art pieces on the walls in specific ways that makes his brain happy. he once put a frame like an exhibit in an art gallery around a dent in the wall made by apollo's ass when he was low on solar charge and tripped on one of jenny's toys titled; "ass of the sun god by: apollo circa xxxx".

- apollo and midnighter split evenly or work together on taking jenny places fun/doing fun things with jenny or otherwise. arts and crafts, singing and dancing, watching movies, helping with homework, taking her to and from school, etc.

- he prefers reading books in the physical format. he owns some but also has a library card so he can take out books (and always return the books on time).

- domestic activities, the arts, gardening, and zen and yoga techniques are his forms of meditation. most of these are canon but i am so on board with apollo doing yoga after other people have said so.

- if midnighter gets to be the snarky biker punk uncle to the batkids, then apollo gets to be the snarky artsy hippie uncle to the superkids.

- apollo sees a lot of himself in kon-el/conner kent aka superboy and takes it upon himself to be there if he wants or needs him to be there.

- as a continuation of the above, apollo and midnighter (as well as the rest of the authority) look after the younger generations of heroes to make sure they're safe, happy, and healthy.

- though they lost their old world, angie worked with the carrier (who is hiding from the watchtower) to bring back all their important documents and belongings like birth, marriage and or medical records, photographs, etc.

- to match jenny quantum while turning over a new leaf in this new world, apollo and midnighter made their legal last name quantum. it helps them out in legal matters and is corny cute. andrew pulaski and lucas trent are their undercover names they used for one mission together and jenny q won't let them forget about it.

- the authority sponsors all the causes they support, pride being just one of them. in addition to this, he and midnighter also created a support group/union for escaped experiments like themselves.

- apollo does sometimes still wish he could remember his life from before but at the same time knows it doesn't change who he is now. that perhaps it's better off him not knowing.

- he has nightmares of being experimented on but can't really say if those are memories, representations for his inner turmoil while he sleeps, or his brain building up what he thinks happened to make him who he is now.

- date nights with midnighter when they get the chance to (aka someone trusted watches jenny) are to restaurants, bars/gay bars, or a duo mission/patrol where they're in love and freaky. the public has to simply bare witness.

- he also goes out to spend time with angie and or shen because fuck yeah team air support/cav!

- he also wouldn't turn down the offer to spend time with the other sun-powered supers (including krypto aka superdog). if mister majestic happens to be invited, he'll be unhappy about it but will be cordial when there. once he gets home however, midnighter will be getting an earful of him shittalking mister majestic.

- apollo breaks sexuality meters and wows people on the regular with how gorgeous he is wherever he goes. when people see him as just a dumb pretty face or brute, he'll either use it to his advantage or outright immediately want to prove them wrong.

- his kirlian aura halo changes in appearance depending on his mood, solar charge status, light or lack therof, and visual perspective. it will become brighter, dimmer, change color shades in the warm tone variety, and the amount of solar/lens flares accompanying the primary halo.

- apollo's eyes flicker or fully light up gold when he uses his powers and or when he's upset. in addition to this, he has tapetum lucidum as a result from how henry bendix built his oculars. this correlates with his various abilities regarding his superhuman vision, enabling his eyes to light up gold in little to no lighting and or when light like a flashlight or a camera's flash is focused on his face.

- he has been mistaken countless times for the actual apollo by people he's rescued. there's also been at least two times where an injured kryptonian (you can decide who) he's helped has mistaken him for rao.

- building upon the above, i believe that in addition to being (confirmed) inspired by kal-el/clark kent aka superman, that he's also inspired by these characters; doris aka lightray (superman: the dark side), rao (justice league of america 2015 vol 4), raymond terrill aka the ray (time and tempest), lucien gates aka the ray (the ray 2012 vol 3), and the greek god apollo in every format. though apparently wildstorm apollo is earth-50's variant of the ray according to the wiki interestingly enough. below is images of him and all his listed inspirations (i know this depiction of rao and lucien gates as the ray came after wildstorm's apollo but they still reminded me of him).

sitting alone in the library had never been a new thing, nor uncommon for you.

hogwarts was home, and it wasn't like you had no friends— though you had very few. you just liked to sit and look over the grounds, peacefully.

you'd escaped class first, and ran down the long halls, pushing and prying as you needed to.

plopping your bag down at your favorite table— one in the corner hidden by bookshelves, near a big window, you grinned. a moment of peace at last.

sitting down in the seat nearest the window, you pulled out your phone, plugging your headphones in as you unlocked it.

this was your ritual, put your headphones in, and watch the world fade away. todays music was taylor swift, a calming and bittersweet type of day matched well with her.

opening your music app, and pressing play, you felt yourself fade away. reaching into your book bag to begin the days homework, you let out a relieved sigh.

you began your notes quickly, but only a few minutes had vanished before you were swiftly interrupted.

you felt the vibrations of a loud bump, originating from the seat across you. you silently cursed the thought of small talk, looking up to see a boy you'd never spoken to, though one you'd known all too well.

why would he sit with you? who knew the inner workings of his brain, though he wore a sheepish smile as he quickly forced himself into the spot, aware he'd embarrassed himself with the loudness of his actions.

you couldn't be mad at the disruption, how could you, his smile was almost hypnotizing. you gave him a light smile, assuring him he was fine in his loudness, pulling a headphone out to offer him the chance to speak.

"y/n, was it?"

"james was it?"

"huh?"

"im messing with you, potter, yes im y/n."

he shook his head, giving another sheepish smile at his behind understanding of your irony. he reached out a hand offering an introduction. you shook it.

"what're you listening to?"

"may seem corney.. but taylor swift, why?"

"taylor ! i love taylor, can i listen?"

you raised a brow at him, but smiled nonetheless, moving your bookbag and offering the stranger it's spot.

he partically rushed to the spot, as if some invisible force may take it if he wasn't quick. you handed him your second earbud, turning the music up one notch.

from then on it was a silent company, he would hum lyrics as you studied, the both of you would sing here and there together. hushed lyrics wrapping around you both.

at some points his slender fingers would dance on the table top, doodling on his own notes rather than studying.

time seemed to disappear by then, and by the time curfew hit neither of you truly wanted to leave, what if this never happened again.

"how often do you come here, y/n?"

Escapism Hunter x reader

A/n: yet another reader who used to be in the emperor's coven, I don't know why I like this idea so much.

It was nice to finally relax, despite the circumstances. It wasn't great to be trapped in the human realm. But Belos wasn't there to torment you and Hunter. Which felt like enough. You could just be yourself, with no fear of punishment for messing up. 

You had recently gotten into a new book series. Anytime you could read it, you did. And recently you had finished it. The book had a super satisfying ending. So of course you had to share it with Hunter. You skipped down the stairs. "Hey, Hunter I have a book for you to read!" You said happily. Hunter smiled, "I do too!" He held up a book in his hands, "it's called cosmic frontier!" "Oh do tell!" You sat beside him.

"Okay, so it's set in space! There's Captain Avery, Security Officer Quando," A smile spread across his face, "and my personal favorite Chief Engineer O'Bailey!" You listened closely to everything he said. While you didn't understand half of it, it was clear he was happy. And you could get the gist of things you didn't understand via context clues.

"I'm going to stop before I explain the whole story. So what was your story about?" You inhaled slightly, "Okay the book is about two twins. One's a slacker the other one is super smart. They get sucked into a book." You explained, "They meet a frog dude. In order to get back home they need ingredients... Like a fairy tear. Kind of like us huh." There was a pause between both of you. Hunter spoke up, "How weird is it that we both found a book that relates to going back home?" You chuckled, "Yeah. But I find it weirder that it was the two people who are the least enthusiastic to get back." 

Hunter seemed to get weirdly nervous. "What do you mean? I want to get back as soon as possible!" You leaned into him, "You can't lie to me, neither of us were that happy while we were in the Demon Realm. By the time we got out of the coven the Day of Unity was in like a week." Hunter looked down, "But I feel like I should feel bad. Everyone else lost their home." "Is it really such a bad thing that we're happier? We could feel bad for them but happy for ourselves." Hunter gave a slight smile. "Yeah... Yeah! We don't need to feel sad. It's good to finally be happy."

Characters are from my current WIP, The Name Witch. This is part of a series that has many more main characters but I'm really controlling myself here and only taking from the first book.

Uthyr Kri'Asphodel

Uthyr is, in his own words, a soft fussy solitary witch from the Uslarian coast who wants nothing more than to tend his garden, cook good food, and live a life of peace. He has a strong sense of justice, but a delicate heart full of loss and shame. He loves all animals but particularly loves frogs and amphibians as well as most bugs and snakes. His connection to the gods allows him to call on many magics, but he specializes as a healer. Despite being a genuinely kind person, he's anxious and grumpy around groups of people or people he doesn't know. Although a powerful witch, he suffers under others' perception of his standing. He long ago abandoned the name of his foremothers, taking the name Asphodel as the first of his line. Despite this, he doesn't regret doing so. His name, like his garden, is his pride.

Crucius, Formerly of Alilux

Uthyr's neighbor, a Fallen Mage who never speaks on his detachment from his god, though he rarely speaks at all. Quiet, indiscernible, and haughty, he plays most of his past close to the vest, giving very little away in the eight years he's lived next to Uthyr in his square house in the woods. He's branded himself with the only fear he'll admit to: two spiders burnt into the backs of his hands: a reminder of his banishment from his homeland into badlands infested with man-eating spiders. Despite his apparent detachment from anyone, he leaves the corner of the forest he shares with Uthyr every spring and only returns in fall.

Sister Alma of Bhréchin

A young woman from the island country of Bhréchin, new in the robes of the Death God's Order. In fact so new, that as of the first chapter she's introduced, she'd only been a Priestess for a week. Her youth becomes obvious in both her naivete and her love of frivolous gossip, though both belie a dark past she faces head-on. Her devotion to the Death God wouldn't be strange but for the grip of the Lifebringer's Cult in her country, who squash any worship outside of the Church under their boot. With a cheerful disposition, an optimism that could eclipse the sun, and a temper to be reckoned with, Alma is only not speaking when she's asleep. And even sometimes, she does that too.

Only to find Uthyr has beaten him to it.

Dethroned of his destiny, Bran is surly and adrift. When he joins Uthyr and Alma on their journey, he believes Uthyr's involvement comes entirely from a mistake, that he will see the moment where the prophecy declares him champion, and he finally finds himself deserving of the pedestal his family has always placed him on. Despite the predicament, he's steady and true, believing honesty and valor will light his path to glory.

Anyone else feel like 2012 Mikey (should have) ended up having trust issues or even potential abandonment issues?

The kid has been betrayed by his idol who he thought was his best friend. He lost Leatherhead for a while in Dimension X and in the episode when they go into dimension X we get a short montage of all the memories Leatherhead and Mikey had together. Kind of just show casing how much their friendship really means to Mikey. He saw his father die multiple times as well. He had to leave and abandon his home and friends he had in New York when the invasion of the Kraang happened. He was again betrayed by another friend of his, Napoleon the frog mutant and even though they did reconcile I'm sure that still upset Mikey. He was AGAIN betrayed by his friend, when Mondo secretly led him into a trap and was captured by Fishface and forced to partake in a race. Again like Napoleon, they did reconcile. He had to yet again abandon his home when the earth got destroyed by the Triceratons. While we do tend to talk a lot about Mona betraying Raph, technically, both Mona and Sal betrayed all of their friends including Mikey. I don't know- I just feel like all of them were upset by the betrayal and not just Raph. He kind of also got betrayed by his two favorite comic book heroes. I forgot the episode this happened but I feel like some kind of betrayal happened I don't know. Mikey has also witnessed his brothers die or almost get killed several times. So something tells me he could also have potential separation anxiety and wouvs to not let his brothers get hurt or to see them die again.

What I'm trying to say is, I feel like Mikey should have maybe had a hard time trusting people in the series. I feel like by season 4 or 5 he should have. Maybe like have him be defensive, constantly giving a look at people he hasn't known that well, or just keeping his distance. Because he is afraid he will become friends with them, become close and even maybe attached to them and they out of nowhere pull up a betrayal. Like this boy has had enough. He doesn't wanna go thru a loop hole over and over again and feel like he is trapped in a time loop.

Seriously, I want ya'll to prove me wrong on this. I dare you to.

Search, Tags, and Tumblr

Tumblr's search functions are notoriously weird, but there's a few common things to know about how it works in conjunction with Tagging. First things first:

-Tags are for searching but also personal blog organization as desired. This is why some folks have weird/funny personal use tags. Tags can use dashes and spaces, but not regular double quote marks ("), though single marks are fine (').

-Tag for what's in the post; adding other, unrelated tags "for visibility" is against Tumblr's TOS and gets you reported for Spam!

Example: if you make a post for your new Clive Rosfield screenshots, make sure you're only tagging terms relevant to Final Fantasy XVI and Clive Rosfield (and any personal organizing tags like "screenshots"); don't add tags like "Star Wars" and "SpongeBob", as Clive has nothing to do with those!

-Tag without censoring words! We use filters/blacklists here to avoid things we don't want to see. Can also work for words in the body of a post. There's no rules here against using "kill" or "death" or other terms defining common human experiences determined "too negative/dangerous" on other sites (stay civil to each other).

-If you do alt-spell things, it's only in the body of a post and usually when it's dislike of a fandom thing as a courtesy to those enjoyers. If I make a shipping post and say, for example, "I can't stand R3y|o", that's when I want to use weird spelling and symbols--and no common tags for that fandom! If you do use tags for organizing, keep it to things like "#anti (thing) or "#(thing) critical", again spelled correctly for others' blacklisting purposes and to keep it out of the Reylo Search and Tags so those fans can enjoy their ship without seeing negativity. Because...

-General Search pulls from Tags and Also terms found in the body of a post. If I just put "Thancred" in the Search bar at the top of the page, it'll show me any and all posts with "Thancred" in them, including 1) if the name is in the body of the post, 2) if the name is in a tag that's a sentence/includes other words, and 3) even if not tagged for Thancred.

This caused some wank a couple years back for certain fans when someone tagged a lascivious picture set with what they knew was a triggery NOTP for many...but they also put the characters' names in the post body, not realizing simply searching for either of those characters would pull it up (They also, IMO, should have put the images under a Read More to be doubly safe, for themselves and for others they knew might be upset stumbling onto said images, but the crux was not realizing how Tumblr Search worked).

-Tag Search specifically pulls from the tags; per Tumblr's info pages, the first 20 tags (out of 30 total allowed) now will show up in search. Common, consistent tags first are good for visibility. You can also Follow tags you want to keep track of; there's even a tab on your Dash for it.

-Reblogs do not show up in the searches, even with additions and new notes. However, a blacklist filter will catch tags put on the original post, even if the reblogger doesn't add it when it ends up on your Dash.

-You can also blacklist blog names/URLs. Think of it like Twitter's muting rather than a full block (though one can do that too, and should as needed).

Example: someone following Seanan McGuire doesn't like frogs, but she reblogs a lot of frogs. The follower blocked and blacklisted the blogs she often reblogs frogs from to minimize the number of frogs they see while still following a favorite author for her book info.

-If people ask you to tag a thing cuz it's a squick or full-on trigger, you can just do it, or you can politely say no; that's valid. It's up to that person then to decide if they want to blacklist or unfollow or block or what. Just be civil either and both ways.

In summary: if you're talking about bunnies cuz you took pictures at the local farm show, just write "bunnies" normally in the body and/or tags of the post, so anyone with "bunnies" blacklisted can avoid it--and folks who want to see cute pics of bunnies can find it!

Even if you use proper tags, or no tags, or only use alternate spellings in the post body to keep things out of the tags/searches, consider still using a Read More as a last line of courtesy to any followers or random folks you don't want to catch in the crossfire. Also consider hiding your blog from Search results, and/or Private posts.

Tumblr's Help Center (On Desktop browser, go to the "About" link, and then the "Resources" menu; on Mobile App, go to Account settings, General settings, scroll down to "Help" under "Account") has further info about Searches and Tagging (and everything else!), and as that info changes, it's a good idea to keep track of those page updates, as well as the @changes blog to keep track of new updates, bugs, recent fixes, and upcoming info.
