Another Frodo-Sam confession scenario:

Frodo and Sam are lying on the mountainside in Mordor, the Ring destroyed, and Sam starts talking about "The Shire, the Party-Tree, YOU dancing, Mr. Frodo" (cut to memories of Frodo dancing the chicken-dance at Bilbo's 111th).

And Frodo laughs nervously and tries to convince Sam that the lava-fumes must be addling his mind.

February Ficlets: Day 2

         Yesterday, Frodo had been in the Green Dragon with mugs of ale, singing the same songs they sang every night with the same people he met every night. Yesterday had been an entirely ordinary day. Yesterday, he had come home from the Green Dragon and had been ready to wait for Sam to say goodnight to his family before he came to Bag End to stay with Frodo, as he had been doing for two years.

         But yesterday had come to an end.

         Today, Frodo was on the road with a pack of supplies on his back and a ring in his pocket. Today, there were Black Riders hunting him and Sam as they fled the Shire. Today, Sam had walked farther away from home than ever before. Today, Frodo had needed to hold Sam’s hand just slightly tighter as they left behind the rolling green hills of home and ventured into the blue.

         But today would soon come to an end.

         Tomorrow, they would be well on their way to Bree. Tomorrow, the sun would rise again and wake them from the rough ground upon which they now slept in each others’ arms. Tomorrow would bring them one step closer to the end of this journey. Tomorrow would be one day closer to going back home.

         “What’s on your mind, Frodo?” Sam asked at his side.

         Frodo smiled. “Nothing. I am just glad to have you with me, Samwise Gamgee.”
