I'm looking for a job and one employer showed me that there are actual certifications I wish every employer had. I have conditions similar to endo and meno. I am not always able to do the office thing. I'm gonna start sending this to every job I do and don't apply to, to show them where they stand. I mean, like - get your shit together employers. Your employees aren't robots.

extremely funny to me seeing people say that Bertie has a heart of gold when his immediate solution to getting Freddie back together with his fiancée was to kidnap a child

#red randomness #jeeves and wooster #bertie wooster #100 and up neat #don’t get me wrong I love him dearly #but I think he like Watson and Bunny suffer from ‘he isn’t actually as nice as people think he is’ syndrome #because Bertie can be a judgy bitch! he’s resentful of several children! he makes unflattering judgments about appearances!#he told Sippy to steal a cop’s hat! he ripped a tag off his uncle’s gift and claimed it was his!#he told Jeeves to send Bingo a telegram telling him to KILL HIMSELF-#like #he is very dedicated to his insane friends even when they aren’t great to him #and he will go to great lengths for the people he cares about #and he will talk about how great Jeeves is to everyone who will listen and is better to him certainly than previous employers #and he’s a generally cheerful and amiable and friendly person #but heart of gold?? Perhaps Not #very few people in these stories are objectively entirely good and a lot of the humor and characterization comes from that #because you like Bertie despite it all. you love him and want him to be happy

99% sure i landed a 6-month gig in the jewelry store right in front of where i am currently working and it's exceedingly funny because apparently it's not the first time they snatch an employee from here

#today i woke up even more anxious than yesterday but i finally managed to book a hair appointment #to a different salon than i contacted yesterday tho bc they were being difficult and i got tired and nervous lol #but ye the hairdresser i booked an appt for seemed quite friendly so i'll trust her ig #now i just need to gather enough courage to txt a friend. bc for some reason that also takes a lot of effort from me #and i also gotta txt to a potential summer job employer who promised to call me yesterday but didnt...#my posts

yoooo ok that last job turning out to be bullshit might actually be a blessing in disguise because I just landed an interview for an after school theater teacher gig that pays way better~ I went to theater camp every year from ages 12 to 17 and always loved the idea of being a counselor for a program like that, and did backstage / dramaturg work for a play at UCSB back in pre-pandemic 2020 so I might actually have a shot at this. Wish me luck!

#so far I have a 100% rate of getting the job offer after interviews #ended up turning down the offer I got yesterday as it was a bit too high stakes for me at this point in my life #I take working with kids--especially kids with intellectual disabilities--super seriously #and I just don't think I'm ready to be a para-educator especially since that's not exactly the career path I want to go down in the long ru #but yeah for whatever reason I always do really good with interviews #my resume isn't anything special but when I get a chance to turn on the rizz I usually get the gig #perks of being an awkward neurodivergent kid who had no concept of social cues is that I had to learn it all from scratch #so I'm actually pretty good at being very friendly and personable and telling potential employers what they want to hear #without coming across as phony #partially because I do genuinely like chatting with people #personal

every time a job advert asks for an "excellent communicator", an autistic person should magically be given $100000

#it's my absolute most behated thing ever #i mean today i was literally looking at a job offers website that is MEANT to be friendly for people with disabilities including autism and #still every job advert said the same thing and it's like. it's so easy to just say you're inclusive but if you're not going to actually #create jobs that ARE compatable with stuff autistic people (even low masking autistic people!!) struggle with then it's not going to count #for much no matter how much an employer pats themselves on the back and acts like they're doing a good thing

not to be all european speaking a language with formal and informal ways to address people, but I think one of the many evils of capitalism is making bosses and directors comfortable with being friendly and using informal with their employees who they talked to three times all in all and who are more than two ranks lower than them on the company's ladder

back in my grandpa's days it was workers who used informal towards their bosses because they had never used formal in their lives and it made their bosses uncomfortable, I think we should go back to that

ableism is literally so predicated on class, I would rather be upper class wealthy and disabled than abled and poor especially when a lot of blue collar jobs are. literally disabling in themselves anyway & im SO tired of disability spokespeople who are white and wealthy and have family with the time and resources to support them, and how it warps the conversation around disability to focus on the most minor issues while ignoring the fact that most low income disabled ppl aren't even having their most BASIC needs met

#the way everyone suddenly cares abt doctors w long covid #bc they're seen as respectable and responsible #meanwhile working class women w chronic illnesses get treated like hyperchondriac benefits scroungers #whose disability is self inflicted #and like many of the concerns of disabled ppl r about care and income and accessibility #80% of ableism goes away if ur wealthy 😭#medical issues to. where to start #but yeah remember the Lockheed Martin person... no comment #even to the fact that like the availability of disability friendly work is like directly proportional to ur class #like. im not saying ur experiences can't be tougj too but literally wheesht we've heard enough from u #and at least have some humility that medical care + income + employment + social care are like.#maybe due some more attention and maybe ur struggles are due a little less for a while.
