Greetings I utterly adore Freyja already she is so shaped ⥠just wondering how Beowulf, Briar, and Oro would react to Tiso suddenly acquiring a child
(Also Sly if you can think of him. I just think it's very entertaining that he's literally a great grandpa now)
oro is bewildered but is immediately fond of her. like he goes from âWHERE DID YOU GET THATâ to âtime to lock in on the best grandpa title bc this is absolutely a competition and i need to beat mato and sheoâ in the span of like 24 hours. beowulf IMMEDIATELY starts talking about how it was meant to be because sheâs a honeypot ant and thatâs his nickname for tiso and absolutely adores her. then when she goes to sleep heâs finally like. âokay. so⊠where did you find. a baby. are we going to Talk About That.â meanwhile briar is full of whimsy and is just like âyippee!!!!! have new ant friend!!!! she is very small!!!â and they continue to call her little sister even though she grows up to be Very Big and also is Not Their Sister (she would technically be their niece), but tiso thinks its kind of endearing and doesnât correct them.
i think sly makes a joke about how adoption runs in the family and oro has to walk out of the room.
#oro is a joker but doesnât mean to be funny#sly is funny on purpose. to me#tiso loves his new daughter very much :]#and if anyone disagrees with him. he will square up#âbeowulf hold freyja. im gonna punch someoneâs lights out rq.â âstay safe honey <3â jwjsjwn#tiso also wouldnât know she was a honeypot ant at first (for obvious reasons)#and even though beo or oro would probably point it out#it also would be really funny to me if he was just like âhm! i have big daughter:)â (pause) âoh wait shes probably not a carpenter ant. oh.#whsjjw yeah. i love freyja she is big and shape đ#screamer answers asks

LIKE. Biggest thing I'm trying to capture w this Triandra kid design is that there was a time where maybe she and Alfonse were similar enough that they'd blend together in vague/repressed memories. But the OTHER big thing is how much that highlights their differences/where each ended up, current day.
#I WISH. I COULD EXPAND ON THIS. but i also wanna play more salmon LMFAOO#also it's something i have difficulty capturing myself. like it eludes me.#i also like the idea of trans triandra from this perspective as well. again it's about having similarities#but ultimately reaching such a different conclusion/path in life. and esp when it comes to tri#it's about not having the resources or support or safety. not having even basic needs met. constantly in survival mode#and i also think about freyja making the girls 'their best idealized selves'. like. freyja herself aside LMFAO#putting a trans hc in there. is sooooooo fascinating. like i feel like tri is someone would would have known young#and tried to live it but also did not have the safety to do that.#so like when freyja magic fairies her. tri becomes her idealized self. which is a girl!!! free transition đ#meanwhile i think moe would have been too young to know that about itself then. it's closer to sharena/peony's age#and you can know that young too but like. for moe it took a lot of time. and unfortunately a lot of hardship.#which is why mani exists LMFAOO (that motherfucker......)#RAMBLING. I GOTTA GO TO WORK (salmon run.)#fe triandra

Frigg and Njord are not siblings either in the books nor in mythology. Frigg is counted among the Ăsynjur. Thanks for pointing out this error. I'll got on fixing it!
I do wish the Riordan Wiki required citations because I'm on the Frigg wiki page (you know, because) and I'm so confused.
I know Rick changes mythology to suit his story a lot (which is totally cool) but its not like Frigg is an important character in his story.
Because, apparently, Frigg and Njord are siblings.
So Frigg is a Vanir then? Since when? As far as I know, the key difference between Frigg and Freya is the fact that Frigg is an Aesir and Freya is an Vanir.
(I personally see them as two aspects of the same goddess, but Rick chose to go with the more common, "they are seperate", route).
Did anyone know if this is right (in the Riordanverse)?
#there are a LOT of differences bectween Frigg and Freyja#i just took a viking myth class and now am an expert on everything đ/j

when it comes to the consort radahn situation, iâm with the camp that he was in on the plan with miquella and was full steam ahead on the idea. my reaching of this conclusion comes from the post fight memory and radahnâs idolisation of godfrey (and also maybe his dad slightly idk)
i think the reason miquella sent malenia to caelid is because radahn was fully in on the plan with the caveat that he had to be killed in battle first. i think the honourable death pact he made with jerren was connected to this, he just opted to not tell jerren the whole truth about wanting it so that he could become elden lord.
i also do not think that the aonian bloom was much of a hiccup in miquellaâs plan, seeing as how miquella had ways to stop/get rid of the rot, so he could have just used radahnâs own corpse for the reanimation. i think the real reason that they ended up using mohgâs body was because of one man: Alexander. at the end of the starscourge fight, we see alexander scrounging around in the sand for the corpses of champions, and he just so happens to be right next to where radahn starts the fight (fromsoft usually has bosses âcanonicallyâ die in or near their starting spots for the sake of cutscenes and the like, so radahnâs corpse is probably right where alexander is searching). we also see gold as well as red hair in alexanderâs shard that do not exist in warrior jar shard. i think the reason miquella had to use mohg as more than just a guardian was because alexander just straight up took enough of radahn that they couldnât use him for reanimation.
when it comes to freyjaâs interpretation of radahnâs will, i think she got it slightly right but also very wrong. he did want to come back, and he did want to fight, but i think she flanderised him in her own head to be this âfight fight fight all the time nothing but warâ type of guy, when he just wanted to be a lord like godfrey.
so yeah đ

Mjolnir :3
The pattern in the middle is two thurisaz (rune of thor) back to back. I want all the war gods to somehow incorporate their runes in their weapons (e.g. tyr's rune is in his battleaxe) (Tyr is never given a specific weapon so I think he deserves a bigass axe). Still haven't figured out how to put Freyja's rune in the hilt of her sword but we'll get there eventually đđđđ
SICK i really like that design its a lot more elegant than other versions but you could still whack the shit out of stuff if you'll excuse my language hehe & ĂŸe runes are cool too i like ĂŸis one ĂŸurisaz yay
tyr is god of war right? that feels like a big axe sort of position yeah ALSO linguistics sidenote you may already know when 'the' is shortened to 'ye' in older english its cos of trying to get english sounds into latin letters in print in medieval times, like physical metal type pieces for printing books, there isnt ĂŸ in latin but often a y looked close enough SO ye olde english is actually they are trying to say the not ye đ one of my favourite pieces of information đ

SUPERNATURAL 1.11 "Scarecrow" | REVIEW
okayyy!!! i am reviewing select episodes from [tumblr].com's favourite show of all time-- Supernatural!! i've watched SPN 30 trillion times, and i just started rewatching it AGAIN, and as a mythology buff, i thought it would be fun to explore the fact vs fiction of some of the episodes :)))
OVERVIEW: Sam and Dean Winchester must defeat an unnamed Vanir god who resides in an orchard and preys on young couples who have been sent as sacrifices by a creepy town.
RATING: 8/10. i liked it!!!! it wasn't unrealistic (i thought at least), the scarecrow was scary. good plot, good ending!
AVAILABLE AT: idk where u can watch this for free sorry. if you have Prime or Binge, or maybe if u live in the US u can watch it on the CW or something
all episodes // next episode
if you haven't seen spn and intend to watch, do not read below unless you want spoilers!!!!!!
if you know more about what i'm gonna write below, please feel free to share or correct me!! ^-^
THINGS I LIKED / FACTS:
good ending đi like that the Vanir god actually takes the old couple when he's unable to get Dean and Emily (the niece who nearly gets sacrificed).. i think it's nice because it's brutal-- the old couple didn't imagine that they would end up being the sacrifices themselves but that's the way it went, and i liked how indiscriminate the scarecrow was. he just took anybody.. it was the blood that counted.
related to this-- when the old lady said to Emily, "that's what sacrifice means... giving up something you love for the greater good." that hit really hard i think. family having to sacrifice someone they love is the MOST COMMON trope in mythical stories ever... the gods are always asking for the sacrifice of people precious; see Agamemnon, Artemis, and Iphigenia for instance.
now, i've seen this episode 5 million times, and for some reason i've always thought that the god specific in this episode was Freyr??? but upon rewatching, Freyr is never explicitly mentioned, only that the god is a Vanir.
given that the townspeople are asking for the town to be fertile and their crops to grow despite the bad weather, i think selecting a Vanir god did make sense-- the Vanir are typically associated with prosperity and wealth. Freyja & Freyr, perhaps the most well known Vanir, together are responsible for good weather, gold, peace, beauty, fertility, etc., so i think that part checked out.
ok so let's talk about sacrifice first.
blood sacrifice was central part of the Norse religion- blĂłt was the practice of killing animals (and sometimes humans) and splattering it over people, buildings, stones, etc. to get blessings.
analysis of animal bones dating back to this time period also suggest that oxen were specifically killed at the neck so that blood could spurt out like a fountain for the purpose of blĂłt, which i thought was pretty interesting.
now. the human sacrifice.
the Vikings didn't really keep written records of their rituals and practices, so most of what we know is gathered from Christian-era writers, and as a result, we have to take some things with a grain of salt because those writings can be biased.
but, one guy who i keep seeing is brought up is Adam of Bremen. Mr. Bremen was a German medieval chronicler in the early 11th century, and in one of his works (Gesta Hammaburgensis Ecclesiae Pontificum), he writes that at the Temple of Uppsala (a large Norse temple dedicated to Thor, Odin, and Freyr):
The sacrifice is of this nature: of every living thing that is male, they offer nine heads, with the blood of which it is customary to placate gods of this sort. The bodies they hang in the sacred grove that adjoins the temple... Even dogs and horses hang there with men. (read more)
now, even though Mr. Bremen wasn't actually there to witness this, lots of people accept his version of events because they're highly detailed.. maybe the most detailed records we have of what went down for the Vikings in terms of ritual practices.
so, as far as accuracy goes so far, there isn't much about sacrificing a man and a woman together annually to appease any of the Vanir, but i don't think the idea is too far-fetched given the existence of the blĂłt as a real tradition.
BUT. i did find something else.
Mr. Bremen also writes about a disturbing practice in which men were thrown down a well to drown alive in the hopes that townsfolk would receive wishes.
a note in Mr. Bremen's writings describes a large tree that was always in season regardless of it being Winter or Summer or Spring.. hmm...... that's a bit eerie.
Near this temple stands a very large tree with wide-spreading branches, always green winter and summer. What kind it is nobody knows. There is also a well at which the pagans are accustomed to make their sacrifices and to plunge a live man into it. If he is not found, the peopleâs wish will be granted.
i think this tree could be where the SPN got the idea of "if you burn down the central tree, the Vanir god will die too".
AND. there's also this idea of "if you don't make the sacrifice, your wishes won't come true".. which i think is exactly the idea that the townsfolk in this episode were following.
regarding the well sacrifices-- wells in Trelleborg, Sweden was discovered to contain the bones of both animals and children as young as 4 years old which seems to agree with Adam's account of the well ritual.
anyways. to conclude. this episode is not solid in facts, but it's not utterly ridiculous either. i think they did a decent job trying to tie fact with fiction, and of course, at the end of the day, the show intends to entertain not inform.
THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE:
i feel like there could have been more Norse references idk.
there were markings on the central tree that Sam and Dean burned down, and i THINK that the mayor guy (Uncle Harley) had a ring that matched the runes/pattern on the tree?? but the lighting from these early episodes was so gloomy and dark it was difficult to see.
i also wish they had actually named who the scarecrow was :((
PLEASE RELEASE SOME DEVELOPMENT NOTES FROM THIS EPISODE @ SPN WRITING TEAM.

OC meme: 23, 44?
Thank you for the asks! :)
OC Ask Meme
23. Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like?
The vast majority of my OCs have changed a lot but Iâll talk about one that I havenât discussed much here. My Altmer TES OC Volonmir has changed a lot compared to how I originally intended him to be. He was originally meant to be a very stern Thalmor agent, the sort that you see in the embassy in Skyrim. Essentially, an antagonist that had nothing to do with my other OCs and/or other characters other than to be a nuisance. However, I played some ESO and now heâs a high born Altmer thatâs been sent to Khenarthiâs Roost to do work there and ended up in a relationship with a khajiit farmer/thief with a senche companion and extremely conflicted world views. A sort of turncoat of nobility, if that makes sense. Before he was Just A Thalmor Asshole but now heâs got some story to him. And a lovely cat girlfriend đ
44. Something you like about your OCs in general
I LOVE angst. Itâs definitely my favourite âgenreâ, you could say, and the vast majority of media I consume has it to some extent. My OCs all have their fair share of angsty lore, to varying degrees. Phulgrax, for example witnessed the downfall and death of many of his family and/or kin. Freyja was an outcast from her family with no true knowledge about her heritage, and after discovering it and finding out that it was bad, chooses to accept her suffering of her own accord. Meldras watches his partner in crime and lover be hanged as a result of his crimes after they took the blame for him. Koltair is just a terrible person, he has no redeeming traits whatsoever.
Although they all have their fair share of happiness and fairly light hearted lore, their stories are plagued with unhappiness and pain.
#cw death#asks#robbieâs original characters#once again thank you so much for the asks!#love answering these

A little while back @erinhime83 posted some designs for a non-collab version of Mirror Image. I was...confused, because the designs used our characters, but we had no input into the process?
I know these were âjustâ designs, and that nothing would ever come of it, but it was the principle of the thing that annoyed me. Was I going to argue about it? No, it wasnât worth it. I said something to the effect of, âwell, this is your interpretation,â and was told Evania was still my character and I should design something I liked...The lines between what is my character and what isnât mine is very blurred right now, so I try not to think about it too much, because itâs confusing to me. So if I just focus on drawing, itâs fine. The style is cute and these are fun to do, so it was easy to just...keep doing it. đ
Evania/Evangelia
I do like the design, though. First one was the one I originally drew; second one was after I watched some of Janet Stephensâ hair archaeology videos and noted that a lot of the styles depended on curly hair. I wanted to try the Aphrodite knot, since if Evangelia is filling something of a priestess or goddess role (as is my understanding), then it would make sense. Anyway, just playing with the idea that her hair changes texture, too. Or testing out the curl brushes I downloaded, take your pick. Also testing out what her outfit looks like without that subtle design, because I waffled for too long over what amounts to a very tiny polka dot đ
As for the first one, it was basically the old âtie a band around the head and tuck the remaining hair into itâ, so I suppose her hair could have a curlier texture there too, but the way itâs styled, you wouldnât be able to tell.
I had the idea that she fixes her dress. Originally it was more standard, with that second gold pin, at her hip, keeping up the other side of her tunic and the red fabric being more of a shawl. Stuffy. Predictable. Boring. So she freed up that shoulder, and hey, now that she had a spare pin, she could keep that sash in place. This may also have been inspired by watching @anijeltaventryâ play Assassinâs Creed Origins--thatâs a design choice they really like for the women in that game, Iâve noticed. And I canât blame them. It does look nice đ
I noticed Shizuka, Sethos, and Geoffrey all had elements of their Guidesâ colours in their outfit, and since Evangeliaâs outfit was way too monochromatic for my tastes, I decided to incorporate that dark rust colour from Antigonusâ tunic into the design and 100% A+ good design choice me đ
The others all have some sort of armor, but there is none in her design, so there goes the idea for her holding a ceremonial knife in that hand (because those animal sacrifices arenât going to sacrifice themselves, seems like a priestess thing to have)
Letâs be real, she would not be allowed to have a knife anyway. Who gives a teenager a knife? Antigonus might be a bit wary of pinning all of his hopes on a kid young enough to be his daughter, but heâs not stupid.
do you have any idea how stupid kids can be at that age? Antigonus raised a huge family, so he has numerous examples, and no amount of exasperated eye-rolling or âOH MY GOOOOOD THEY GET WEAPONS, ITâS LIKE YOU WANT ME TO NOT DEFEND MYSELFâ is going to change his mind.
man, from Antigonusâ POV this whole thing is a hell of a trip
Freyja
I figured if the changes surprised me, then @swankifiedcos was probably surprised too. I was uncomfortable drawing a design she had no input into and calling it her character, so I asked her what sheâd like. She liked the design sheâd originally came up with, but if we were doing this, then she liked the tan skin/lighter hair combo that Freyja has. The darker green didnât âreadâ as blonde, so I kept the same shade and upped the brightness to this colour, which reads more like it. I think I used the original hair colour as the dress colour. Anyway Ramya approved of it, which is good enough for me. She also suggested the circlet be leather on the green-haired version, as it stood out more, and I agree.
As for the dress, Ramya also said she liked the long skirt she originally had, so thatâs what I went with. I also added in the soft pink of Nanninâs tunic into the rosettes, because again, very monochromatic, and that green/pink combo? đ Nice. Also it fits the same scheme all the other have.
My idea is that if Evangelia is all hips/pear-shaped, as Iâve always tried to draw her, then by contrast, Freyja is all chest. And come on, busty Viking lady? A+ great idea, this was fun to sketch. The battle axe is unique, even if this one is comically large, but it works.
So
About that circlet
I was experimenting with something that looked more like wings. Like a winged helmet or something, because Iâd always struggled to draw it properly. Ramya approved and then said that sheâd originally envisioned something like that but didnât have the words to express it at the time
guys
gUYS
IâVE BEEN DRAWING HER CIRCLET WRONG FOR YEARS
whyyyyyyy
Then since I know Ramya likes the OG design, it was easy enough to do a version with that instead. Even the rosettes still look nice, even if you donât get the green/pink contrasting colours combo.
I do like Freyjaâs design. Maybe itâs the hair. I have a thing for wavy hair, as we all know. >.>
Shizuka
And then I needed to complete the trio of girls with Shizuka. >.> Her design is super cute, I like the fluffy skirt, and the pink really looks good on her. The hair going from silver to pink throws me off a bit, but itâs still light enough that it âreadsâ similarly if that makes sense. I came up with the pose first and had to make it work somehow, so...well, she looked like she was doing a Highland dance or something, so...sword dance?
She did have a katana or two at one point. Given that her design has armor too, itâs not unreasonable to assume she has some sort of weapon still, and that itâs probably a katana. This works for me. I donât know if she still has that association with fire, but she did at one point. The other hand felt a bit empty so boom, magic fire.
Although I shouldâve shaded that braid darker for depth, because otherwise that fire...she is a bit too close to that hair đ°
Still, she turned out super cute! Very happy with how she turned out as well, and her pose even has that Dramatic Wind for maximum skirt swooshiness. Gotta have a swooshy skirt!

Do you ever think about Triandra grieving for the childhood she lost when she was forced to kill her father, and the emotional burden of hiding the truth from Peony? And how Triandra feels her anger towards her father will make people view her as despicable?
MAN........ I've absolutely been rotating this in my brain... I'm very much still in the early stages of parsing out How to write her, and huge props to everyone who helped me consider the broader picture too (category 5 tunnel vision incident đ)
LIKE. ABSOLUTELY these are huge impactful things about her... I think something else I was reminded of that was really significant to look directly at was, how her lost memories also affect her mental/emotional state. And the fact that it's not just a case of repressing the memories psychologically (though, I think you could take creative liberties and explore that route on top of what happened canonically). It's Freyja who wipes Triandra's and Plumeria's memories whenever it becomes too painful for the girls or inconvenient for Freyja, as well as a way to keep them dependent on her. And like I talked a lot about the girls not being able to process what happened to them, having to grow around the pain, but I think what I completely neglected to consider was well!!! How COULD they even address it, if their memories were also being shut down and locked up within themselves.
So like... absolutely, and I have been thinking about this nonstop, I do have to reconsider A Lot in how I was approaching How To Write Triandra. She really would be starting completely from square one. Which, I think that aspect went over my head a bit cause personally, I'm so far beyond that point? And I think, because of that, I was REALLY struggling to even place where to start when attempting to capture her, haha. I think maybe I was ten steps ahead of where I really should be starting!
LIKE!! Before I get way too off topic LMFAO, I think what you're asking is what I was asking myself. I was REALLY fixated on the father-murder bit (because. Well. It is significant). But now, I almost think, I have to go further back?? Like, emotional processing-wise. Augh... but also full disclosure I AM still having A Lot of trouble pinning anything down LMFAOO
I think. To best answer your question. I think, the grief of lost childhood would have to come much later. After maybe, unpacking the reality of her situation, and fully internalizing that it (wasn't her fault? That's what I want to say, but also, I'm unsure what the trauma work response would be for a child who killed their parent in self-defense/to protect a younger child). I do know, she would have to work through her beliefs that she's irredeemable, despicable, nothing but trouble, before she can even get to the point of grieving for herself. I think, what would make this more difficult for her is her current role as a bringer of nightmares -- not only does she have this horrifying burden from her childhood, she also feels terrible about having to give mortals nightmares. Which is something current-day for her that reinforces her belief that she's a bad person, that she does nothing but cause trouble and make others suffer. (Now may be a good time to disclose I'm a bit behind on the current FBs rn LMFAO, but I do like the direction they're taking/I really believe it's overdue!!! Recontextualizing nightmares as either information that can be useful for someone to navigate in their waking hours, or maybe there's a handful of strange individuals who Want to have nightmares. For. Reasons đ) And we haven't even GOTTEN to Peony yet!!!!!! AUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any which way! As I parse out the story I want to write, a huge shift in approach is tone. I think, what needs to be most present, is compassion. There's still conflict, I still really want to characterize her as somewhat antagonistic -- I think, maybe, she doesn't know how else to reach out. And I still want there to be apprehensiveness, a practicality that can be cold. But at the core, I really want there to be kindness. And I think that Was always the goal, but again! I do think I've had to change the way I've been thinking about it! đ
Just like. Compassion! ENHANCE
#fire emblem#feh#if you guys could see the comics or even just fics in my brain you would be soooooo impressed#you would be like whoauhh ... nice poast đ#I HOPE. THIS SUFFICES. i have been having a hell of a time trying to figure out how to even approach#writing her đđđ i feel like even from notes to notes things quickly become outdated#bc i have a new perspective. and i need a new approach.#ask answered!#fe triandra

đ„ș Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?
I LOVE THE MOMENTS BEFORE TWO CHARACTERS CONFESS TO EACH OTHERâŠâŠ LIKE THE SLOW BUILD UP, THE DIALOGUE HINTS, THEIR BODY LANGUAGE, THEIR ATTEMPTS TO GAUGE WHAT THE OTHER IS THINKING AND THEN IT ALL POURS OUT AT ONCE
Or when this happens numerous times but they get interrupted by something. A sort of literary edging, you could say.
Then they cry and apologise to each other and get over their disagreement or fuck nasty tbh it depends đ

Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?
I literally just make plot up as I go along. Iâve got two key scenes in my head, everything else is just something that I gotta write to a decent standard so I can get to the good content đđđ
This is also why it takes me like 10 years to write
đ€© Who is your favorite character to write?
From an original character perspective, I adore writing Freyja. Sheâs my ER OC that Iâve expanded into many of the other Souls games meaning that I get a lot of creative freedom with her. From a canon Soulsborne perspective, Iâd have to say Malenia or Gehrman. Theyâre both extremely interesting characters with a lot of lore surrounding them and their interactions with other characters are also fun to write. Finlay is great because sheâs very much a blank slate- we know little about her other than something that she achieved so I can develop her myself. Sheâs a perfect example of the canon-original character blend.
