hey you ever think about how Thor is half jotun. and how asgard generally isn't chill with jotuns. so of course he latched on to Loki so hard. Loki also being half jotun made them the only other person on that world who could really fully understand him and that very specific cultural experience. and with loki being gone he's alone again. ever think about that

PUGH OGUH YEAH I DO cause it's like he recognizes death is a mercy, and he will make loki suffer the same way he did before granting him that mercy. the actual eye incident is never really elaborated on outside of that scene where lokis like "odins a freak for this one" but i imagine based on his attitude towards heim when it matters he was as quick and painless with it as he could be, but to heimdallr his avoidance after feels like ignorance, and he needs to bring attention to just how much it ruined him.

ALSO heimdallr's ruthlessness vs lokis hesitation, which gets the both of them killed later in ragnarok

I have been digging through some old kamiaso posts and found this one account which was posting as the game was coming out and there are a bunch of posts like KYAAAA LOKI IS SO TSUNDERE IN THIS EPISODE OMG (^///^) o(*////▽////*)q and that is sooooo funny to me no girl shes not a tsundere she just doesn't like you

HADSGAFSGS it's still so SOfunny to me that in the game she straight up just hates you until baldr like breaks up with her. i can't believe we play as her rebound. peak dating simulator: play as norse god lokis terrible rebound (she nearly kills you in the ocean or something while biking cause she sucks. and then incessantly talks about her ex on her date with you and literally summons the aurora borealis cause of him)

Im watching maloki for the first time (episode 9 👍)… do u have any particular thoughts on the anime vs manga?

OHH YES I DO !!! ok without spoiling much since idk if you've read the manga and you haven't finished the anime. I. yapped a lot so . oopsies! i have many opinions on this animanga LMAO

OK so. there's not that much plot to the anime. i mean there is but it's way more episodic and feels less like an overarching plot. i prefer manga for having a much longer and higher stakes plotline. it also kind of ramps up the stakes over time.

there's just two completely different plots between the anime and manga too. the manga plotline is just so much more interesting and better written for maloki standards like . the anime is so ass.

also in the manga they play around so much more with direct ideas and references taken from norse mythology which is the entire reason i got into it in the first place. shoutout to maloki for being the first adaptation to include so many of the gods children and hoenir and var as major players at the same time . and also being the most accurate in terms of mythological references for some reason ??? three gold stars. somehow.

TWO the characterizations. i prefer the manga characterizations wayyyyyyyy more. for a quick example they tone down heimdallr's obsessiveness in the anime and also make freyr less of an asshole (and in the dub and subtitles they take away him talking in the 3rd person !!! one of his big character traits !!! i think in the japanese audio it stays tho?)

freyja is treated like dogshit in both but the anime is somehow even more misogynistic than the manga ?? and the manga treats her better in the end <3 but like barely. mayura is treated w more care as well in the manga luv her <3

also in general there's just more characters in the manga too, esp in shinsekai no kamigami where they throw in a bunch of new gods. ofc not a fault of the anime since it was made like an actual decade before snk but ! just saying.

UMM what else. in general they just fumble the characters so bad i think in the anime. easily one of my biggest grievances. why did they make heimdallr less of a freak <///3 how did they fuck freyja up worse than before

i will say ! i appreciate that the anime pulled less borderline loli shit. it cut out quite a few of the weird moments between mayura and loki even if not all. that's kind of the only redeeming factor that barely even counts cause it still kind of exists in the anime. the anime is charming in its own right in that it's batshit insane in a different way from the manga and incredibly fun to laugh at.

OVERAL VERDICT ! manga is way better even if it's a little bit freakier. it's just so much better by a mile. the manga gives you cunty odin the anime could never

thing is about thor. he's an incredibly popular god, dare i say generally regarded as THE norse god. he's absolutely the modern face of the pantheon, especially because of the marvel movies. but i feel like he's well known but barely understood yaknow?? hes famous for being guy who hits stuff with hammers and while yes hes guy who hits stuff with hammers hes also guy who is dealing with the weight of some of the most intense generational trauma you have ever seen & guy who has an interesting cultural background which would make for great character development which is never elaborated on in ANY adaptation & guy who is deadass the most normal person on Asgard. he has literally so much complex untapped character potential. but his general pop culture image of big stupid guy who hits things with hammers completely detracts from how much of an interesting character he actually is. like yes hes big stupid guy who hits things with hammers but hes SO MUCH MORE INTERESTING THAN THAT. tldr thor is really well known but for the wrong reasons

REAL REAL REAL AS ALWAYS it just sucks how because he's that guy who hits things with his cool hammer nobody really expands on the other parts of character because like. everyone knows him as the hammer guy. you put a hammer in his hand you add lightning everyone knows it's thor and well it's thor so it's like he's cool now but now nobody thinks past that. he's just constantly put in a situation where he's choosing one half of his life over the other (odin/loki, aesir/jotnar, etc etc) and he's forced to watch his family deteriorate over thousands of years knowing there's zero he can do to change anything plus just so much more and there's so much to do there ??? but nobody gaf cause he's hammer guy😐😐😐 UNTAPPED POTENTIAL !

LISTENNNN OK I'm thinking about how everything in norse mythology was absolutely inevitable. just from a character point of view everything was going to explode right from the start. you start out with Odin, the god who has to understand and control things, and then you throw in Loki, the being who evades categorization at every turn and cannot be controlled. then you throw in Thor the jotun hunter who is only chill about one specific half jotun, Loki. im sorry there's no way that wasn't a source of tension. and then Baldur. Baldur being a god who naturally draws attention to himself and is blood related to Odin. Odin being very protective of his family and Loki hating people drawing attention away from him. from the start all of them were going to explode. there was no other way it could have ended. it was physically impossible for them to coexist and its astounding that they managed to do so for so long. they were a train wreck before they even left the station. yes i did just jolt upright in bed a few minutes ago to write this yes im normal why do you ask
