BRING BACK ORIGINALITY
I wish these fucking idiots would stop remaking shows and just make brand new ORIGINAL shows.
I just started thinking about it because I saw a Winx post and I thought about and I was like "Wow, I loved Winx growing up, and I never liked the new one."
I feel like show writers have run out of ideas and are getting lazy.
I also don't like the new animation, but I guess it appeals to the new generation, which is like fine, but still lazy.
Even non-cartoons tbh. Like, What tf did they do to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air? Like, the new show was fine, but it was nothing like the original. Why couldn't they just make the show separate from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air?
Anyways bring back originality.
P.S: All the live action movies are hot ASS they need to stop ts.
P.S.S (Except one piece omg i'm such a slut for Mihawk and Shanks)

The Stars of 'Bel-Air' on Representing Black Excellence for the Culture
The Stars of #BelAir on Representing Black Excellence for the Culture
A cloudy evening over The Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena did nothing to hide the high spiritsinside The Tap Room — the resort’s cocktail bar and lounge — where the cast of NBC/Peacock’s NAACPaward-nominated series Bel-Air came both to cool down and celebrate, post red carpet, after a long dayof photos and interviews just an hour earlier. we’ve been watching The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air and it keeps surprising me, because it’s easy to remember the series as funny (it is) but even in these early episodes it managed to marry it gracefully with drama and, dare i say it, topical subject manner. i had vague knowledge of the episode where Will and Carlton get racially profiled but i had assumed it happened later in the series, not in the sixth episode of the first season. i was really impressed that it was so blatant about its stance without feeling like a “Very Special Episode” (again, lots of comedy) and that the writers were confident enough to leave the final conflict on a really bitter and shockingly realistic note (Will and Phil telling their piece to Carlton while he ruminates on it alone, still weakly trying to justify what happened to himself) with no neat wrap-up. when you think about Fresh Prince and drama i’m sure most people think of “the episode with Will’s dad” but at the moment i have to say that’s probably my current favorite episode
on the other hand hearing Carlton of all fucking characters casually drop a R bomb was one of the biggest cases of “oh yeah, the 90s” i’ve ever experienced

John Allen Amos Jr. (December 27, 1939 – August 21, 2024) Television and film actor. He was best known for his role as the adult Kunta Kinte in the landmark miniseries Roots and for portraying James Evans Sr. on the CBS television series Good Times. Amos' other television work includes The Mary Tyler Moore Show, a recurring role as Admiral Percy Fitzwallace on The West Wing, and the role of Washington, DC Mayor Ethan Baker in the series The District. Amos has appeared on Broadway and in numerous films in his five-decade career.
Amos was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and an NAACP Image Award.
Amos became well known in his first major TV role, playing Gordy Howard, the weatherman on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, from 1970 until 1973. Upon the death of Betty White, Amos and Joyce Bulifant (who played Marie Slaughter) became the last surviving semi-regular cast members of that show (not counting child actors). In 1971, he appeared with Anson Williams in a commercial for McDonald's.
In 1980, he starred in the television film Alcatraz: The Whole Shocking Story. Amos played an Archie Bunker-style character in the 1994 sitcom 704 Hauser, a modern spin-off of All in the Family, but it was canceled after only five episodes (in the series he played a different character than he did in the All in the Family spin-off Maude). He also portrayed Captain Dolan on the TV show Hunter from 1984 to 1985. He co-starred in the CBS police drama The District. Amos was a frequent guest on The West Wing, portraying Admiral Percy Fitzwallace, who serves as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for most of the show. He played Buzz Washington in the ABC series Men in Trees. Amos co-starred with Anthony Anderson in the short-lived TV series All About the Andersons in 2003.
In 2010, Amos also appeared as recurring character Ed on Two and a Half Men, and in 2016 as another recurring character, also (coincidentally) named Ed, on the Netflix sitcom The Ranch. He has guest-starred in a number of other television shows, including Police Story, The A-Team, The Cosby Show, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, In the House, Martin as Sgt. Hamilton Strawn (Tommy's father), Touched by an Angel, Psych, Sanford and Son, My Name Is Earl, Lie to Me, and Murder, She Wrote. (Wikipedia)

Hang on I have Opinions about this, too. I don’t mind the “Daddy” nickname so much on paper because grown women call their fathers “Daddy” all the time. With characters that do this, what immediately comes to mind is Hilary Banks from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air...
Tumblr media
...and Ariel from Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
Tumblr media
So Trucy calling Phoenix “Daddy” well into her teens is not strange. What IS!!!! strange!!! Is that localizers made the choice to have Trucy call Phoenix “Daddy” when in Japanese she calls him “パパ” / “Papa”?
Tumblr media
It’s??? Even on the famous beanie????
Tumblr media
And like, they localized Feenie’s sweater so it’s not out of the question to localize his beanie. I will concede they had more of a reason to localize the sweater, since Dahlia/Iris calls Phoenix “りゅちゃん”/“Ryu-chan” instead of “Feenie”, which cannot be carried over to the localization like “Papa” could...
Tumblr media
...but I digress!
Anyway, if anyone is wondering why the beanie says “Papa”, it’s because that’s just straight up what Trucy calls him in Japanese. I don’t know about you lovely peeps, but I feel like if Trucy called Phoenix “Papa” in the localization, it would’ve been 500 times more endearing, but this is purely a subjective take. If you think “Daddy” is perfect, more power to you!
The choice to have Trucy call him “Daddy” might’ve been an attempt to capture Trucy’s cutesy personality in Japanese (you can see this brilliant post for more on the characters portrayal in Japanese overall including Trucy), but--and I mean no disrespect to the localizers, this is an immensely tough job and they’ve made many brilliant choices with other things--I feel like overall Trucy’s cutesy personality was definitely lost in the localization, so “Daddy” feels off. I think “Papa” is more fitting and a lot cuter. But again, that is subjective!
Anyhow, that’s my Hot Take. If you want to feel how Trucy is portrayed in Japanese, I think a very fun thing to check out is the Audio Drama from Dual Destinies called “Turnabout Animal Circus” that has been lovingly subtitled by fans for our enjoyment (pay attention to when the subtitles say “Daddy”, because she definitely says “Papa”). This Audio Drama is also where Apollo’s cat Mikeko comes from!
Anyway I can give AA hot takes all day, and I just finished my morning tea. ☕

I actually agree with the anonymous who pointed out how fucked up the Goetia family is and how it could've been something better.
Imagine if it was like the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air with all the drama and comedy, but with Octavia learning to grow into an adult from a teen.
Also, I like to imagine the scene from FPBA where Will goes off about his dad leaving him again with Uncle Phil but it's Octavia going off about Stolas with Paimon.
The visual of Octavia wearing sunglasses and sitting on a rotating throne is going to be in my head for the rest of the night and I'm going to sue you for that.

Hi do you have any recs for poc shipcest? I feel like that's very uncommon.
Hi, Anon!
I think POC ships come up regularly but I hold a pretty high standard for something that I would recommend so that's a much shorter list. I have a terrible memory so I'm always bad at recommendation lists but I'm really struggling here. Some of the first I thought of are Sokka/Katara and Zuko/Azula from Avatar: The Last Airbender and Maya and Alejandro from Heroes, which feels very old school. Those aren't U.S. settings, I'm not sure if you were looking for that specifically. Speaking of old school, the Fresh Prince of Bel Air has come up a few times, and there are a few different shipping options with that one. I haven't seen the new show.
And of course there are tons of Asian dramas with great ships. One of the only ones I've seen is Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo which has a couple of interesting brother/sister relationships though they all play second fiddle to the main character's story.
In this post I talk about twins in the third season of Slasher. I didn't mention it in that post but they're black. Be careful with spoilers if you check out that post. It's an anthology series so each season has new characters.
I've been watching the DCEU recently. I don't know if father/son interests you at all but there is major angst between Victor and his father in Justice League that could be really shippy if someone wanted to see it that way. And in that same vein, the mother/daughter relationship from Everything Everywhere All At Once came up recently. And speaking of DCEU, I think the main character in Blue Beetle has a sister. The move looks like it centers on his family a lot so I'm hoping for good things.
Oh, and Mirabel and Bruno from Encanto, of course!
Prey has a great bro/sis relationship, really great shipping in that one.
I hope other will chime in with their recs!
