This is a gratitude post. I’m not gonna lie, the last few days prior to today were really bad. We still don’t have food money, and don’t know when we’ll get it, and y’all have helped a lot but we can’t just blow all that money at once. So we’ve been focusing on feeding the kids and making sure we all get a decently filling dinner. But I was in a bad way. Sad because I felt like a failure, but also fucking hangry. I require three meals a day to thrive—they don’t have to be large, but they DO have to be nutrient-dense, and a handful of stale tortilla chips for two meals a day really wasn’t cutting it. And in order to feed all four of us dinner for cheap(er), we’ve been focusing on pre-packaged, pre-processed foods, so my body was crying out for something fresh. Well, here’s where the gratitude comes in. Due to help from people on Tumblr, and a neighbor hiring me to walk their dogs once a day for a few days, and a different neighbor giving me a bunch of veggies from her garden—I was able to actually make a good day of food for myself and the family. We had berry and yogurt smoothies for breakfast, I had a big salad for lunch, and we had grilled veggie and shrimp kabobs with rice for dinner. I genuinely feel so much better than I have in days.

Quick lil garden peek

Transplanted some (bush)bean starts this morning. Just want to see if they'll do any good with transplanting. If so I may do this again for sucession planting and fill in planting.

With them I direct seeded sunflower mix I've been collecting from prior grows.

At the end is a pumpkin volunteer. I likely won't be keeping it, but I'm gonna let it grow for now and likely pull it to feed the chickens.

the way i had a breakdown to my friend via text abt how badly i wanted pistachio cookies on sunday and i couldn’t find anywhere i could get them like i checked online for everywhere local & no one had any & i was in whole foods today and legit just walking past the bakery section bc i forgot smth somewhere & needed to pass it to get there and they had pistachio cookies in the freshly baked section like omg 😭 the whole foods website LIED saying there was no pistachio cookies at my local whole foods it put me through distress for NOTHING anyway i bagged those cookies!!!!!!!

had the best pomegranate I've had in years today, I am so so happy. I always look for one every year, I don't always buy one bc usually the ones that make it this far are shit, so it's a REAL treat if i get a good one, and boy was it ever. we ate maybe half of it fresh and I'm freezing the rest, it's gonna be so good

I have a question what were Annie's og parents like(i mean she was willing to run away with five aliens to be her fathers instead so I don't think they might have been the best😬) or maybe they're dead and were good people idk

A lot of the lore is actually written by @sweetpeaches666, who may be tagged under sugarbutterfly432, thanks to Annie technically being a 3 way OC lmao. There has been nothing solidly concrete about Annie's OG parents beyond the fact that she doesn't know her ancestry and she's had many foster homes AND orphanages to live in (plus it'd also be easier legal wise for the Andromeda 5 to adopt her if she isn't officially someone else's kid at the time)

It's actually why she does ballet, one of her foster mothers wanted to recreate her failed dream, turns out it breeds resentment and a lot of running away :P

What can be said is that Annie's been many different homes and in a constant state of transitioning between them, a prime example of being a refunded kid and all that, something something No Roots by Alice Merton yada yada 'oh no that's relatable'. Her birth parents one way or another have never been in her life, though regardless of what actually happened Annie will always believe that they left her behind like like everyone else did :P

I don’t know who needs to hear this but you can take the fresh herbs or veggies you bought in a moment of hubris and use the brief euphoria you have (that defo will not last until it’s time to actually cook) and you can chop them up and shove them in the freezer and those bitches will stay good for MONTHS

then the next time you have an attack of I’m Gonna Cook No For Real I Mean It This Time your chances of actually cooking go up bc you don’t have to do the grocery shopping part

if you are still in denial (it’s okay your attention and energy will TOTALLY hold up until its the right time to cook, probably tomorrow, yeah for sure bud) just put half in the freezer you probably don’t need it all at once anyway just put half away for later
